good professor...doesn't waste students time going over irrelevant material; he gives detailed lecture notes for each chapter; total of 3 eaxms (3rd exam is the final--- he has optional take home exam )
Good teacher. Difficult subject.
great teacher...wish he taught more classes. He cold seriously be an ivy leaguer. He could be making billions somewhere but he is a dedicated and intelligent professor. What a find.
Awesome teacher overall!
amazing teacher! gives good notes, you know what to expect because he tells you exactly what you need for a test or exam. he does not waste time and SPEAKS ENGLISH!!!!!! Yeah!
Great notes and reviews. His lectures are ok.
I hate economics, but he was good! I thought the tests were pretty hard, and you HAVE TO STUDY!! He's very helpful and offers some extra credit at the end of the semester, and extra credit quizzes on each test. DO the reading, practice the graphs, and you will understand. He's a great professor, and he's very nice!!
Lectures are very straight-forward and interesting. Explains terms in a very simplistic way and doesn't waste time going over "extra knowledge" material. Also gives plenty of chances for extra credit. If you can't pass his class you don't belong in college.
Took this class twice and did not understand anything. But now I have a much better understanding of the subject.
Professor Levy is Awesome, he helps you a lot and will do what he can to make sure you pass.He also give a lot of extra credit and he curve. You can't fail this class unless you don't read the book or study the notes. take him you won't regret it.
Really great professor and a very nice person. Willing to help however he can - will stay after class to explain things. Requires you to take notes, but its a win win. You get easy points for taking the notes and if you take decent notes he goes over them and tells you EXACTLY what you need to study for his exams. I recommend him for any class.
Prof. Levy is one of the nicest teachers I've had. He's always willing to help the students in anything he can. His class is clear and detailed. Always reviews material prior to introduction of new theme. His exams are tough, but not so much of you attend all lectures and study on your own. I totally recommend this teacher!
Hes a great teacher. He is easy to understand and is very good with giving students enough time to write things down. Hes funny. The class is not easy and his tests are kind of difficult but its not impossible. Take him if you have to take the class.
good teacher. have to take notes not much comes from the book. teaches at a good pace the hardest test is the last the first two are ok
Great teacher! Even when the material gets confusing, he is very good at making the material [relatively] understandable.
Micro isn't an easy class. But if you go to his class and take notes the exams shouldn't be that difficult. He explains the concepts in the best way possible and tries to get everyone to understand.
Probably my favorite teacher at FAU; You have to attend class if you want a good grade (i.e. A or B). Tests are based on notes, YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK IF YOU TAKE HIM. He makes economics understandable!
This class was difficult seeing as I am not good at economics. Levy was not a bad teacher and always gave a homework review and went over topics in depth more than once. If you have to take this class, be sure to study and keep up with the work because the tests can be tricky.
He is a great professor! The exams are based from the notes he gave in lectures. So, going to lecture is very helpful. He makes microeconomics understandable. I would recommend to take him for economics.
The course was more difficult than expected. Class isn't mandatory but I went to every class and still found the exams somewhat difficult. Micro is a lot more difficult than Macro but if you pay close attention to his lectures then you should be fine on the exams. Take any extra credit if he gives it. He is a great teacher and helps out amazingly.
Go to class if you want to do well! He is really helpful and does a great job actually teaching you the material. If you pay attention in class, youll do little studying and still do well.
He is an excellent teacher & knows how to explain a difficult subject so that it is somewhat easy to follow along. Tests are pretty hard- they test concept knowledge instead of definition knowledge. Micro was tough for me, I am an A student and got a B+ in the class, but I would definitely recommend taking Dr. Levy.
His lectures are so easy to follow. He does a recap of each lecture in the following class. There are pop quizzes but they only count towards extra credit. There are 3 exams and he gives more weight to the exam you did better on. Slow to post grades on BB. Tests are easy if you go to lecture and review your notes in anticipation of the quizzes
Terrible teacher. Taught material way too fast, didn't really emphasize a lot of material. Granted, Macroeconomics is a difficult subject, he didn't make it easy. He would review for an hour of each class period the prior classes material, but would teach something totally different. I am an A/B student. This is my first D and I'm just in awe.
i got an A without the book, all you really need are good notes...If you have the book though and are bright enough to understand concepts on your own, you can pretty easily get an A just by attending the exam reviews and exams
I thought he was going to be a good teacher from the reviews but I was sadly mistaken. Before I begin, he does try to help you out by giving some weird curves and sometimes surprise extra credit quizzes, and brief exam review. His teaching style sucks though. All he does is lecture, no visual aids. Tests are hard and confusing. Good Luck
Prof Levy really knows what he is talking about. He makes a tough subject easy to understand. Attendance is not mandatory but go to class b/c his lectures are the majority of the exams. Great guy if you need help as well.
He is an excellent teacher. Very fair with tests but knows what he is talking about. So if you go to class then you should do just fine. Economics is hard for me but this guy made it pretty cool and easy to understand.
Amazing Professor! Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go. His notes are pretty much the majority of tests.I got B's on my tests, an A in online hw, & will be receiving an A for my final grade. He's awesome. I'm taking him for a diff class next semester. Highly recommend!!
This guy is an awesome teacher, he really cares about his students passing the course. He goes out of his way to offer opportunities to boost your grade. Overall just a great professor.
He is a great economics professor. I had him for both macro and micro. He gives reviews of the previous class at the start of each class. It really helps you understand the material. I definitely recommend him for any economics course.
BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER TAKEN AT FAU.Take his class if at all possible!I had no intrest in economics at all & he makes it relateable & easy to understand.online code for myeconlab is required but i never even opened my book,he gives all the info you will need for the tests in the notes. attendace isnt mandatory but you should go to class. great! :)
He is a great teacher!!! Tells you exactly whats on the exams, assigns a web component thats cake and an easy A, which 15% of your grade...He is awesome, I recommend him and you will not be disappointed. Pay attention and take notes and you'll be fine...
Levy explains the material clearly and does a review of each class before he goes onto new material. He is willing to help students learn and has time for any questions students may have. 3 exams and weighs the ones you did better on more and an easy 15% homework. Also, curves grade. Going to take him for my 3rd economics class next semester.
I took him for both money & banking and micro and he is the best professor I've had at FAU! he is very passionate about his lectures and makes everything seem so simple! He tells you exactly what you need to know for each exam, and it will all be from his notes/lectures
BEST ECON PROFESSOR AT FAU!! This guy is friggin awesome! I recommend him a lot!!!
Took him for Macro & Micro now for Money and Banking. Awesome professor one of the best I have had so far. Take him if you need to take an Econ course.
Levy is pretty good. He doesnt make his class too tough but if you want a decent grade you have to be into the economics graphs and what not. The guy likes to have his students understand what he is talking about. He doesnt take attendance and the book isnt really used but you will learn stuff if you go to class.
He's a tough one to take during the summer semester. Rushed through all the chapters. Not easy but you can get by with a C or B.
Great professor, took him for micro n macro eco. Class is not mandatory, but highly recommend you go to class. He test only on what he teaches and gives a review before each exam. His review is exactly whats on the exams. I took him over summer for the 6 1/2 week ECO4223 course. Just take good notes and use the txtbook and professor as a reference.
Good professor..he repeats himself on purpose and it works...the material comes across with clarity. Took him in the summer and still ended with an A..you have to try to read the chapters on time and stay with him during lecture..you'll do well.
Very tough class to take for summer, i received a "d" on first test and "a" on second test and received a final grade of a "b". His class is durable, but study! he drops 2 out of 5 lowest components for your grade ,the hmwk is super easy; I am a biology major and was definetely not interested in this course but still managed to get through! TAKE HI
Micro/Macro's 1st tests are pretty much identical and aren't too hard got B's, pay attention during the equilibrium lectures. 3 exams total which are all very doable. Don't need book just note well, go to class and just buy ecoportal, saves $50+. Uses iclickers and simple online HWs you can attempt until 100%, grade boosters. Take him for both.
It's not so much the professor as it is the class. Econ has some pretty tough concepts, and it's not an easy subject. That being said, he is always willing to take questions, and he does a review before every class which REALLY helps. He talks a little fast tho which can be hard on note-taking. Study and you will pass
he is a great teacher, very clear and one of the few intelligent professors at fau I have had. Take him
Great teacher. You boost your grade with HW assignments online that you take until you get 100% and 10 iClicker quizzes where he drops 2 of them. He repeats almost everything twice and reviews the prev. class at the beginning of the next one. He also gives you all of the topics that will be on each test. Definitely worth taking Prof. Levy.
Difficult Course. He is very clear and repeats himself, but his lectures are not enough to pass. Lots of additional time must be taken to further reinforce the material. He is always available for help though. The homework grade does alot to save you in the end. If that wasn't there, most people probably would have not done well.
Levy is a great professor but the course itself is difficult. He lectures very well and gives valuable material but you MUST study. There are 3 tests which could easily make or break you. 3 homework assignments which you could try until you get 100, and iclicker questions (he drops lowest 2). You DO NOT need the textbook just econportal access.
He is a great person, he is one of the Best professors I have ever had, he's got an amazing way of teaching, great personality.. He cares a lot about students, I would give him 10 out of 10 in the ratings, mo doubt
Levy is a great econ professor. He's very passionate about his work and it shows during his lectures. His lectures and exams are very straight forward and help you learn the material. I highly recommend him.
For a 3 hour lecture class, he keeps it very engaging. He knows his information and can explain it in ways that are understandable and relatable.
Good teacher
Best professor I've had at FAU hands down. My only regret taking this course is that I bought a book. It was a waste of money. He IS a book. Go to class, you will learn. This is the formula for passing an Eric Levy Course.
Mr. Levy is a great teacher, he goes over every topic in depth and explains everything thoroughly. The class consists of 4 tests and a online HW grade which are based off his lectures. Very fair teacher as was readily available before any exams to answer any questions.
he was awesome. i got a B in this class, should i had not procrastinated. He is very knowledgeable. has his own way of teaching, never uses the book. i took him lecture capture and loved it. Google helped me with my exams most of the time. he offers a lot of assistance for a virtual class. take him!
Great guy. I've only had him for a few weeks and he's already the best professor I've had. He is funny, likable, relatable and makes the material SUPER clear. Very helpful professor who likes to make life easy for his students. Would recommend 100%!!!
Levy is a good professor and makes things easy to understand but this class was a lecture capture course this semester so you REALLY have to keep on top of your hw. He does not send out emails or reminders that things are due so if you aren't organized and dedicated to making time to watch the class DO NOT take the lecture capture course.
Great professor! explains difficult topics clearly and really breaks everything down. One of the best professors. The class is extremely do-able. your grade is made up of 4 exams and online hw (he drops your lowest out of the 5 things) you must watch the lectures to do well! I'm a bio major and got an A in this class easily. Definitely recommend!!!
If you can avoid this professor I would. He doesn't really enunciate his words well, and you would think that someone who teaches a lecture capture course would speak clearly. A typical fau professor who doesn't respond to emails and doesn't actually teach you anything. Thanks for the 79.9 in the class.
Great professor! If you think this teacher is hard just drop out from college. Gave the minimum effort and still got a B. he is very patient and cares about students. Levy is the best I've ever had at FAU. His wife teaches Managerial Eco also, she's as awesome as him! Go Levy!
I took this class twice online but it was because I didnt keep up with the course work the 1st time around. He drops some of the hw grades tests are open book. if youre bad at keeping up with online hw you can do all the hw ahead of time which is what i did this semester. really nice and easy professor, I recommend taking his lecture capture class
Levy is a great professor. He really knows what he is talking about. I took this class online so just watch every lecture & you'll pass. Grade is based on 4 exams & hw. If you get good grades on the hw & the first 3 exams, you don't have to take the final exam. I definitely recommend taking Macro with Levy.
He is a great professor, but expect to look up most exam answers online. He does not teach you everything you need to know for exams. Adjusts grade scale to reflect online test taking, so you need a 74% to get a C. Mess up 1 exam and you can lose a high grade in the class. Book barely helps (he wrote it) and the HW is a review of his lectures.
BE WARNED: the reason he has so many good ratings is because you USED to be able to look up all of the answers to his exams online very easily. However, he changed everything, and you can no longer do this. He is a useless professor who does not prepare you for the exams AT ALL. Stay away, take another teacher, TRUST ME.
I second the last rating. Avoid his class now, it is no longer a free ride. In fact, it is miserable. Steer clear.
Getting to watch class whenever I want was nice, but not all material on the homework/tests was covered in lectures, which left me really confused & frustrated. The stuff he does teach you, he does well, but still misses out a lot. Tests are timed & pretty difficult. It's open-book but the book isn't much help. Actually have to work hard for an A.
Don't do it. He is awful. Very boring, goes on and on, class drags. He gives "reviews," but they don't cover the exam material one bit.
I studied like CRAZY in this class, only to find out every exam question was completely different than what he went over in the videos. I am sick of teachers like these.
Don't do it. Take another professor.
He's very good and explains well. What he cover in class is on the test (so be sure to watch or attend). The homework is much harder than what's on the test and the material in class doesn't directly correspond to the order of material in the textbook but the textbook is very good.
On a scale of 1-10 (terrible - excellent), he is maybe a 2 at best.
This guy actually adjusts the grading scale so you need a 94% in his class to get an A. Seriously? And his exams are terrible.
You can tell that he thinks he is extremely smart and probably thinks he is the greatest teaching - wise too. However, he is neither of those things.
Professor rants for hours in his nasally voice about a bunch of stuff that is not even on the exams. You will not be prepared for the stuff that does appear on exams.
Very good Professor, passionate about the subject and clear in his teaching method. Tests could be easier, some tricky questions, but fair overall. Sapling homework is challenging and strictly related to chapters on the book. Tough on grades though. Recommended, especially if you like the challenge.
Boring class, even more boring teacher.
Not the best choice at all. There are plenty of teachers for this class that people told me are good professors, but he isn't one of them.
Not a hard class, but he makes it much harder than it needs to be. Tests are nothing like the lectures.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had.
He is an extremely good professor. Exams ARE hard because they require more than textbook definitions - in other words you really do need to have an understanding of the concepts your learning about in the lectures. Homework on Sapling was hard because it covered more than the lectures. He is a GREAT professor if you'll put in the effort.
Great professor!! So nice and definitely cares about Macro. Be prepared to watch Seinfeld episodes every class. Extremely helpful and truly cares about his students. I definitely recommend him!
He is very disorganized by skipping around the book and not sticking to the chapter he's covering. Also, there were a lot of errors in his powerpoints so I was confused about what he was trying say. The homework assigned had not been covered in class and is sometimes not even found in the book. Most of the semester I was left confused and lost.
Disappointed about this class. It is not a hard subject, but this professor makes it seem much harder and confusing. He also makes his own grading scale. Take another professor if you can.
I would STAY AWAY from this professor! His homework's NEVER match with what he lectures and yet penalizes YOU for it and his exam reviews have nothing to do with the exam at all. Test are hard and timed and if you go over your time HE deducts 1% of your grade for each minute you use.. HORRIBLE PROFESSOR
I had Levy for Money and Banking and Macroeconomics. I got a B in ME and an A in M&B he wrote the M&B textbook very easy to read and the chapters are short. There are 3 tests and 1 homework grade each worth 25% for both classes. His course is Lecture Capture so it makes it much more easy. But don't underestimate the tests. His class is not hard.
Not a good teacher his grading scale sucks and he is not helpful avoid this class.
Do not take this professor Exams have absolutely nothing to do with his lectures. I only got a B because I can find answers online very well. Scales grading where you need a 74 to pass with a C. Content is very boring as well. His lectures were long, boring, and confusing. Don't waste an extra 180 on this class. Take with someone else
I think the only reason people dont like him is because they dont watch his lectures or participate in the class and wonder why their grade suffers. Prof. Levy is an AMAZING prof! He makes sure all of his students understand the concepts and has virtual office hours before exams. He really cares about his students. I REVOMMEND!
DO NOT take this professor. His grading scale is adjusted to prevent cheating online. You need a 74% to get a C and pass. His exams had nothing to do with the HW or what was discussed in class. There are no curves or XC for exams. My grade was based on how well I could look facts up online. Take another professor! It's for your own good.
i would suggest if your not good at taking online courses or need one on one time with teachers take it with another professor. His not that bad but I would rather take it in class if i had the chance because your basically teaching yourself with online videos
Professor Levy was some what difficult. You really have to watch the lectures everyday. The only thing frustrating was that he said "non-cumulative final" on the syllabus but he changed it in class to a cumulative final. Tests are 30 questions and you have 60 mins, so you have to know your stuff.
I took Levy for both Macroeconomics & Money and Banking. I barely studied and ended up getting a B in both classes. Open book tests with answers on google. His homework makes you think but it's fairly easy, coming straight from his books. The only bad part was his cumulative final in money and banking, which he curved ALOT.
Do not take his online course. He says barely anything important during lectures and rambles on. His tests are hard unless you look them up. He doesn't email students back. However, the worst part of it all is that on his syllabus it said our final exam wasn't cumulative and then a day before the exam I find out it is.
Professor Levy is a very difficult person to understand. He rambles on about stuff not covered fully in the book. His lectures are very boring and he acts like you understand money and banking when he lectures. I would recommend not taking him for M & B. Avoid if possible.
You shouldn't be in college if you expect your professors to baby you. Professor Levy is a very clear and he's awesome. The people who complained about his exams very obviously didn't watch his lectures. You can't expect to be handed a passing without even paying any attention. This isn't kindergarten anymore people!
Prof. Eric seems to underatand concepts in the bookreal world. His lectures have a few videos etc but the class is difficult because there is so much terminology from every aspect of busuiness this class should be one of the last classes in the business program I blame poor managers who set up the class curriculum not so much the professor
Prof Levy is a tough grader. His exams are tough as well. His grading scale is flawed and unclear. He does not discuss grades until days before the semester is over, making it nearly impossible to know where you stand in the class. I recommend taking a professor that actually cares about the success of their students. This one does not. Be aware!!
Nice guy. Long lectures with a lot of info. study and grasp the material. dont memorize. answers on quizzes and hw can be found on google. gives test reviews with subjects to look into. offers extra credit when able. i passed with a B. If i would have studied more it would have been an easy A.
Class is not that hard 2 test one cumulative final read the material pay attention to the review and formulas and you should be good!
I can only say don't take him. Is like teaching yourself the material and exams have nothing to do with the lectures...
The only reason you would fail this class is if you don't do the homework and study a little for the tests. Tests are okay, he reviews a lot for them. He's a good guy, funny too. I would take all of my business classes with him if i could. He uses really good examples in order to help you understand.
Do not take this class. Test are extremely hard and have nothing to do with the lectures. I have no idea where he gets these questions from. He also deducts 1 point from your grade if you go over the 1 hr limit on a test. He gives no extra credit. U basically have to teach yourself. I would never recommend this class.
Take this class. Prof Levy makes sure you understand all the material covered. Don't expect much help on exam reviews. He will just give you a bunch of terms, which doesn't help much. As long as you are able to interpret what each chapter is trying to say then you should be good. The only challenge is the cumulative exam: 54 questions, 60 minutes.
he doesn't use the book but yet makes us to eco lab for the homework which goes by the book so you are not really prepared, his lectures are easy to understand but when you take the tests he makes it where its not exactly how he lectured you have to figure it out, which would usually be fine except i hate all ECO classes as they are very difficult
Tests are extremely difficult even with hours of studying and open notes and book. He tells you the test questions come mostly from the lecture but they dont. They're abstract and complex. He dosent explain things well during lectures, just reads the slides. You have to teach yourself. The homework is mandatory but ends up being a waste of time.
Some of the wording of the test questions are tricky, but if you read the chapters and watched the lectures you'll do fine. He offers review-chat session the night before exams which is a very generous resource. He responds to emails and questions relatively quickly and even offered to move his office hours around to meet. Would retake.
The final is tough, but the open book exams are not terrible as you can have your textbook and notes right there. His lectures are boring, and he expects you to remember a lot from Macro&Micro. The homework is useless and never seemed to match what we were doing in class. He does not give you powerpoints or any type of notes. Must watch lectures.
his teaching was clear and he expressed the concepts in ways that were easy to understand. also, he knows his stuff and he's very interested in it. his answers to student questions are pretty good
Teachings were clear and helpful to every test we took. Made an effort to make class interesting by integrating clips of Seinfeld, would take again!
Levy is a cool guy. He's funny, and understanding. BUT... He will show no effort to helping you if you show no effort of helping yourself. I wouldn't reccommend taking his class during the summer as its a short semester so every other class there's tests. 2 are open book, and 2 are cumulative mid term and final. If you need help, GO TO HIS OFFICE!
Prof Levy was probably one of the best professors I had at FAU. I did really well on all the exams with 96s and 100s and finished the course with an A. His lectures are really straightforward and he's always more than happy to answer any question. He is a really good guy and makes this course very easy. Highly recommended!
I took this in summer along with ACG2021 and MAN3025. PLEASE do not do my mistake ( It is not a hard class the bad thing is that when you take too many classes in summer and 2 of them are HARD like Accounting ACG2021 and somehow ECO2013 it just make your life miserable lol... PLEASE not summer term for this class. Profesor is awesome.
Very tough grader, lectures do not reflect the tests. Two tests are open book, two are proctored. The midterm(proctored, 25% of your grade) test average was a 56. Levy's response to this was "you need to study harder because the final is just as hard". Avoid this professor, homework is very long and useless, and the lectures don't reflect tests
DO NOT TAKE LEVY!!!!! WORSE PROFESSOR!!! I got an A in Micro and Macro, but this class is so hard. His lectures are nothing like his test. His midterm and final are closed book and the class average was a F... He doesn't curve. YOU BEEN WARNED! RUN! I am a straight A student saying this
The midterm exam is absurd (final and midterm are proctored). He casually told us that a good portion of the class failed. Isn't that a reflection on him? Do not take this class with him. He's a nice guy... but he doesn't do a great job preparing you for the exams at all!
Prof. Levy seems not to care much about whether you pass or not. Very vague when teaching, talks too much but not about what is needed to know for exams. You are all on your own for studying. HW and class not same as tests, prepare to basically read entire book or you will not pass, cannot use basic calculator on final exam.
econ department has had so many complaints about him...
Not a good professor at all. Explains things well, THAT ARENT ON THE TEST. He literally told a class of 500 (lecture capture class) that the class average was a 56, but REFUSES to curve. This guy needs to stop teaching or really reevaluate the way he teaches. Do not take him, if he's the only person teaching this course, just don't take the course
Chapters assigned in the book are not on exam. Neither are the topics he lectured about and he doesn't curve. So basically it's impossible to pass with this professor. I'm filing a complaint. They need to fire this guy.
Professor Levy really doesn't know the definition of a professor. The class isn't extremely hard but he makes it really hard because he doesn't know anything about the concept of teaching and, honestly, this can be said for too many staff members at FAU.
Professor Levy is a great teacher, he cares about the student doing well. If you go to his office hours and talk to him he is very helpful. His tests are difficult, in order to succeed you have to work hard. This class is not nearly as bad as other students are making it sound. You have to put forth the effort. He does curve the class at the end.
Okay let me start of by saying I am not into economics but I am a hard working student. If you want to pass this class is easy to pass. BUT if you want an A or B it is HARD work and dedication. 4 exams and hw grade. I personally feel like he talk to fast in his lecture but the bright side is he speaks perfect English.
any positive comments are probably written by the teacher himself. I am a straight A student who studied my butt off for this class. His final? A joke. Beyond tough. I study every single night do all of the work watch all of the lectures. He doesn't know how to teach. Couldn't believe the final. Ridiculous
online class, 4 exams, 2 are not proctored and 2 are. none of his lectures are related to his exams. fau should audit him and let him go. Final is cumulative and says its mostly on the last 4 chapters when not even one topic was on there!!!! ridiculous seriously
Do not take Levy for any economics class. Especially ECO4223. There are 4 tests and two of them are proctored. The test averages for the proctored tests are usually in the 50s. Had an 83 before the final, studied for hours and ended up bombing the final anyway. HW's & quizzes are unnecessarily difficult. Please don't take this class.
horrible professor under prepared us for every exam hes a nice guy just a horrible teacher.
He is a nice guy but I don't understand how he ended up teaching. This class is easy but he makes it so complicated. I love Economics but he thinks he is too smart and fails to explain the concepts so they make sense. If you ask a question he will make you feel dumb, if you care about your GPA please do not take him. You will regret it!
Explains well, but lectures don't match hw or tests. Hw is hard, and quizzes that go with them are harder. Final is cumulative, a lot of questions from older chapters. Tests use terminology he never used. Midterm and final are remote proctored with webcam, no outside help of any kind allowed. Two other open everything tests. book doesn't help much
I took this class as a lecture capture. He seems like a decent guy but his proctored tests (Mid Term & Final) are hard. The final was brutal and honestly very left field. Good luck, there are not many, if any other options.
Although his class was a bit tough, he made it as easy as possible for all of us. He really explained every concept as easy as he could. He also really cares about the success of his students, if it wasn't for him, I would have failed the course, but I ended up passing!
Mr. Levy is enthusiastic about teaching, so helps keep the students engaged in the material. He is also thorough in explaining the chapters but the ppt can't cover every important detail in the book, so I would advise you to buy and read the book. The hw and exam questions seem to be mostly unrelated, the exam questions are almost unrecognizable.
I think he is a good teacher. Took him for summer so classes went fast but he didnt go over 2 hrs. His exams are easy if you watch and take notes from the lectures. A lot of the questions are test banks. HW was time-consuming though. 3 exams, 2 proctored by honorlock. 1 Cheatsheet allowed on exams
Professor Levy is a fair professor. The biggest complaint i have is that his lectures and the homework are not comparable to his exams. Read the textbook if you want to do good. The class is not hard to pass but you will have to put in effort.
I found this class to be a bit challenging, but it wasn't too bad. Lectures barely even seemed to line up with what was on the tests.
Bottom line--put forth the effort and you'll be ok. Make sure you read the syllabus and respect ALL deadlines. He likes to use Seinfeld clips to explain topics. He also helped write the book that you use during the course, which helps I think. One of the more accessible profs during my semester. If you have a question, go see him.
Too much homework given, not even worth 5 points in overall grade.. Tests have material not covered in lectures. Would not take again
I Took him for spring and I have every single lecture, but they DID NOT help me at all for the exam. He said that the hw will be much harder than the test but it is a lie. I did not know how to study for the exam. He has a good personality and likes to teach. However, I wont take him again.
Professor Levy is probably the worst teacher I have had at FAU. The material in his power points do NOT show up on the exams at all. You need to read EVERYTHING in order to do well in his class. The homework basically counts for nothing. No extra credit.
The class in itself is not hard. But the tests and quizzes can get quite confusing. You have to study every single thing for the final test because there are really no clues what will be on the exam.
With Money and Banking taken via Lecture Capture, I have to say this class wasn't that tough. The information is all in the textbook on the chapters he assigns. If you're a business inclined person you should do well in this class.
What he did in class wasnt the same as his exams at all. Do avoid this teacher an A is totally possible with him which i achieved but to avoid a struggling class just take Chiang. Levy will say this is going to be on the exam but when the exam comes around its nothing like what he showed you in class. The homework and assignments are like 10%.
What is on the lecture isn't on the exam. Doesn't explain the material very well. He says you don't need the textbook but YOU REALLY DO. would not recommend
Easiest Class in Business Stream.
I personally found he talks a bit too fast and as soon as I am writing hes already on to the next topic. Also, taje the time to FIND THE MATH EQUATIONS online and PRACTICE them. He gives you the basic equation but it hardly helps when given real questions. Gives a cheat sheet but found it useless. I used quizlet for studying purposes and got a B.
Worst online class I've taken at FAU. He literally grades students off of four criteria alone (homework, 2 midterms, and a final). The homework doesn't do much for you considering it's only 10% of your grade. Just don't bother.
Lectures do not help with exams at all. he speaks really fast and clicks through his lectures like we already know the material being taught. exams are tough
Hes very passionate about his teaching, I dont think hes an overall bad professor he genuinely cares. On the other hand his lectures are hard to understand , his tests are more difficult. What He covers in his lectures are not on the test. The material in general is difficult.
I'm surprised the reviews for this guy are so poor, I personally thought Levy does a great job of going through the lecture. He always reviews what was discussed last class, and is very clear about the content. This class requires a bit more effort than most, but it is definitely doable.
First of all I got an A in Macro with another professor. This teacher is passionate about the subject, but exam reviews have nothing to do with the exam. Allows one page cheat cheat, but honestly doesn't help with the questions he asks. Had to read the book in order to have a chance in passing. Lectures can help, but also can confuse you.
His tests are extremely hard, 30 questions, and they only cover a few specific concepts from the lectures, so they're very difficult to study for, cheat sheet kinda helps. Some questions are the same on the 4 tests, so study those. He is approachable, does care and will help you out, great at teaching, lectures are very interesting knowledgeable.
I enjoyed taking this course even though it was a struggle. He does a great job in explaining the lectures and giving you time to take good notes, i like that he has an example for most of the topics to try and help you remember. The exams were a little hard but having a cheat sheet helps you out. Not a ton of homework just make sure you attend.
Took him for ECO2013 twice, got a C- had to take over and got a C+.. idk if it was me or what.. gives really bare minimum reviews, you really have to study, make sure you do all the hws they add an extra boost at the end, you will never truly know your grade until the end of the semester unless you ask
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! This professor goes very detailed with lectures, but his exams are very different from them. When he lectures he tells you that some topics could be on the exam and they never are. If you want to pass Money & Banking, I suggest anyone else
Professor Levy has very in depth lectures. If you watch them and make sure you understand the material, you should have no problem on the exam. His exams test your knowledge of the material more than anything else, so you can't really get by without understanding the concepts.
DO NOT TAKE MICRO WITH LEVY He doesn't care about his students. He gives no extra credit and has the strangest office hours before most classes in the morning. His lectures are very detailed but his exams have nothing to do with the exam reviews. Best option is to read the book and give at least 32 hours of studying for the finals.
If possible avoid this professor, not that he's mean but entire course is 4 exams and hw thats only 10%. No EC at all, lecture material IS NOT what shows on exams one bit I memorized an entire 3 chapters worth of lecture notes and still could barely pass tests. Gives no type of review for exams other than saying "rewatch lectures". Difficult class
Levy was not bad. I enjoyed his lectures and the class itself. Exams are on the tougher side so read the book and STUDY. HW is a breeze easily 100% but only worth 10% of your grade. one page cheat sheet helps. Its a good class if you TRY. I studied 2 days before the exam and did ok, just dont be too lazy. no extra credit
Makes class hard. Time consuming HW & Quizzes but tells not to study cuz material not tested - just good to know. Hard exams-uses different book than what the tests are based on. Power Points don't even match the chapters from book. Won't give any practice?'s. Told to study HW which he previously said not to. AVOID! Class interesting - prof is not!
Dr. Levy is a great professor. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. He does a good job of relating class concepts to real life, which makes the info easier to grasp and remember. I really liked that he reviewed material more than once, the repetition helped a lot. Cares about students. Four exams, homework, and reading textbook.
Professor Levy's exams are ridiculous. What he lectures on and what he gives you to review has absolutely nothing to do with your exam. The way he words the questions are created to make you fail. I would NOT recommend this professor.
I took the lecture capture course online and it wasn't that bad. The only thing that's truly stressful is that his lectures don't pertain to the exams at all. Some things he blatantly doesn't mention at all in his lectures. I would recommend studying based on the textbook and also have a group chat to help. I would recommend taking Chiang Instead
Professor Levy's test have nothing to do with the lectures. 4 tests and online homework, that's only like 10% of your grade. So if you do bad on the tests, your homework is not going to help your grade that much. NO extra credit opportunities. He lectures super fast and pretends that everyone knows all the concepts already. I would not take him.
Do not take this professor! There are 4 exams which are worth 90% of your grade. They are different from what he shows in his lecture. Homework is also nothing like what is covered in the lecture, and it is only 10% of your grade and it is very time consuming. NO EXTRA CREDIT!
I honestly never found a way to study for his test. His lectures were so boring it was really hard paying attention to his class. Take someone else. The textbook helped but he wouldn't go entirely through what was on the book. :/
not helpful in review sessions, condescending too. lots of work and not enough time to complete it appropriately
I took this class over summer and did awful. Exams were open notes, but even with that, I would fail the exams. I would go to office hours to review previous exams and still left completely blank. He is not a helpful teacher. I would not recommend him to anybody. Exams cover nothing he went over, and never gave extra credit.
Currently taking Micro, took Macro over summer. The hw isn't hard but there's plenty, answers can be found online. His lectures won't be enough to pass exams. The exams are multiple choice and worded in a confusing way if you don't understand the concepts. Memorizing definitions and understand concepts. use lectures/review as guide.
Taken 3 classes with Professor Levy and I wish I could take every class with him. His lectures are straightforward and include real world examples which really helps to understand how the information is useful and put it into perspective. Never had an issue with his teaching style and the exam contained everything he said it would with no surprises
his test is so hard, and he did not show up to our meeting. his very unprofessional. h could at sent me an email saying h cant make it or cancel. i dont have the time to sit around waiting for a meeting thats not going to happen!!!!!!
A new Business Elective co taught w/ Levy & Gendler w/ Ricci as Head Teacher for the class, basically a class of exploring different majors, minors & certificates offer w/in the COB, lecture videos are long but its helpful for both deciding on what u want at FAU & pass the weekly quiz, very helpful as a Freshman & other levels as well (mixture)
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. Especially during online classes, it is obvious that Professor Levy does not know how to cater to his students and does not give them the resources they need to succeed. The information from the reading and associated homework is no where near enough to pass the exam and the HW grades are not posted on canvas until after finals.
Seems like a great teacher. He's a very nice guy and considerate. I look forward to class with him in ECO2013. Attendance is mandatory to pass.
Cant speak for Professor Levy in person, but with the lecture capture videos there were errors on his slides and sometimes would teach conflicting material. Seemed somewhat disorganized at times, however he does provide material to help prepare for tests. If this was my first economics course, I probably wouldntt have done as well
Literally, wouldn't recommend taking this man at all. He doesn't give extra credit and is test-heavy. His lectures are boring so you'll definitely be distracted. You need to buy the 100$ book that he will never go over with you because he treats this as a remote learning class and everything is up to you. Once again, don't take him
His exams are based off his lectures not the hw or the textbook!! we had homework and quizzes due the day of exams. this class was a bit time consuming but nothing out of the usual and he also gave exam reviews and showed exactly what was on the exam, they were very helpful
Hes not a bad teacher but does not give enough time for tests and does not cover what is on the test. Way to vague on test materials and less than 2 minutes per question, so not much time to think.
great lecturer, really knows his stuff and how to give over info. Only thing is youre mostly graded on 3 exams and 10% is homework thats done online. Not too much work at all, hard class but he made it bearable
Be ready to study, you want to pass. You will need to read the book, watch the lectures and be able to answer the chapter post questions to do well on the exams. He is available for online meetings, if you need help. The exam wording is what makes it difficult. You can use a 2 sided cheat sheet for each exam.
Homework has nothing to do with exams he said , his lectures and test do not match up what so ever, 3 exams for 20% then final exam 30% and hw 10%, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR !!!! He allows a double sided chest sheet for test it helps on first exam then he makes the other test questions impossible. Basically wants us to fail his class
Dont recommend. His lectures are always so scrambled and he goes off into tangents. So it was hard to know what to study for. The exams were tough so much information into all of them. Was aloud a sheet to use on the exams but so much information for each exam was hard to know what to put down.
ONLY 4 exams 1-3 20% & final 30% cumulative hw(10%) NO extra credit. The hw+hw quizzes are EXTENSIVE & barely relate to any of his lectures/exams. The 30q exams allow 1 cheat sheet & blindside you with double fill in the MCQs & answer choices are meant to throw you off. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, HIS COURSE IS EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED!!!
I took Macroeconomics (Online) with Prof. Levy. I also had an option to meet with him to answer any questions you might have. His class is extremely easy, you just have to consistently watch his lectures and take good notes. He makes sure to go over all content before an exam as well. Do take him if you can work well by yourself.
Honestly, he made this class more confusing than it should've been. 90% of your grade is on exams, 10% is hw. Forget the homework, it won't make a difference despite what he says. Watch the lectures, powerpoints & have notes and good luck because you will definitely need it. If you believe in God, then pray because he makes this class very hard
One of the worst teachers I had. He make his lectures boring and disorganized. The grades on the exams are heavy and he doesnt give you extra points. Questions on the exam are confusing too. Do not take him.
The final (cumulative) is worth 30% of your grade. He often talks too fast to understand the topics and refuses to go back and give examples. Homework has essentially nothing to do with the exams.
Course is well spread out so it is easy to take with more intensive classes. He gives great lectures and does an amazing review before every exam which covers everything needed.
The exams have nothing to do with homework assignments or lectures. You have to teach yourself all the chapters because the lectures have little to no information that is helpful. The class consists of 4 exams which are 90% of your final grade. He does a "review" lecture and talks about nothing helpful for the entire hour. Do not take.
I agree with other reviews. All of his tests have barely anything from the book. He also teaches in a confusing way and not from the textbook all the time. He doesn't tell the chapters covered and keeps repeating on the next class, half of the previous class. He allows one cheatsheet, but those are not always helpful. Be ready to teach yourself.
He allows a back and front page of notes for each exam which seems great, but in reality you can put every material he gives you from lectures and that page will be mostly useless. He does a horrible job on preparing you for exams. I watched lecture multiple times and wrote detailed notes. Tests seem outdated and unrelated to lectures.
Don't procrastinate. Try to stay on top of all your assignments and you should be fine. He gives a curve on the homework. I had a 79% and he gave me a B-.
The professor is a bit hyper and all over the place at times in his lectures. The tests count as a huge percentage of your grade and you're allowed to use 1 page with notes but it won't necessarily help. Stay on top of everything and study as much as possible.
His lectures are so disorganized and overall confusing. He goes on long tangents on things that are really not relevant. The tests are so far from what he teaches, often teaching conflicting or generally unclear information. He does allow a cheat sheet on exams luckily. Grade is wholly dependent on your test scores so If that's an issue, avoid.
Loved watching his lectures, made learning the concepts easy. As long as you study the homework and your notes before the exams, alongside of course paying attention to his lectures, you will pass with an easy A.
He does not take attendance but if you want to do well in this class you need to watch the lectures. Grade is exam heavy but you are allowed a cheat sheet. His lectures are very interesting and he explains everything very thoroughly. Probably the best prof I've had in college!
This class isn't difficult if you watch his lectures. His tests are based off his lectures, and NOT the book. He is a great professor, and makes the material digestible for his students. I wouldn't understand economics if it weren't for him. He gives ample amount of time to complete HW. Final is cumulative. I would take him again.
Words cannot describe how much I despise Mr. Levy as a professor. I had to take him as Andrew Garrison's classes were all full. Had Mr. Garrison twice and he was amazing. Mr. Levy gives confusing and boring lectures which are hard to follow along and our grades consisted of only 4 tests and a hw grade. He also mentions that he lowers grades?
Professor Levy's class is challenging, with confusing lectures and exams that don't align well with the material. However, using resources like ChatGPT, quizard, and unstuck study can help with study prep and passing the course.
Mr. Levy is a great teacher. Every class is a lecture but he's very engaging and will always pause to explain difficult concepts to those who don't understand. The tests primarily focus on information provided in lectures. He takes attendance randomly and he doesn't post his lectures online so if you miss a class you have to ask someone for notes.
Avoid this professor. The class is weighed 90% exams and 10% homework, and the homework won't do anything to your grade. He allows a sheet of notes on the exams, but that won't help you. I watched all his exam reviews and nothing in his reviews matched up with what was on the test. No extra credit given. If you're not a good test taker, avoid.
He says “sorry” frequently & makes explanations unclear. Levy is generally unwilling to change his opinions. One-page cheat sheets are inconvenient to make and not helpful. I wouldn't recommend him and suggest choosing another economics professor. Initially, he was my favorite teacher, but by the end of the semester, that's no longer the case.
The exam is 90% of your grade and homework is harder the quiz. The homework and quiz and not really on exam is his lectures are more on the exam. The homework is 0% of your grade basically
Prof Levy seems to be passionate about Economics for sure! His lectures helped understand the material better. He allows one cheat sheet per exam which is extremely helpful!
Professor Levy is an ok person, but as a teacher I cannot possibly recommend him. His homework, lectures, and exams are completely separate and do not overlap. He is quite knowledgeable, but very ineffective at explaining concepts or his expectations. You'd have to be lucky to do well in his course. Avoid if possible
Do not take him!! Our only grades are basically 4 closed note, proctored exams because the homework won't help your grade at all. Not a professor that wants to see you do good!!!
Professor Levy was a pretty good professor. He didn't assign too much work, and with his allowance of one cheat sheet on the exams, it was a relatively easy class. You can tell by his lectures that he is passionate about what he does as well.
I have taken two classes with Levy, overall a great professor I've learned a lot from his lectures. This course is mostly graded from exams which can be stressful because its entirely lecture based and the homework questions are completely different (but harder) than the exam questions- exams aren't super hard you can use a 2 sided cheat sheet.
I enjoyed this class and found it manageable alongside my other responsibilities. The quizzes and homework may seem like a lot at first, but they are very doable with consistent study. Overall, I would definitely take this class again and would choose this professor without hesitation. Exams are proctored but some of them are open note!
