Awsome teacher, I took this class to meet my oral communications requirement. But it later became a class I enjoyed and thanked God I got into. This guy is fun, smart, and awsome grader/person to deal with. Id recommend this class to anyone. You will not be dissapointed.

Interesting course, the way my class describes him is a buddist, hippie. He is always smiling but very intelligent and knows what he is talking about.

Great teacher but can be demanding w/the workload. All he really does is check your reading response questions, lets you know how well you are doing, then lets you turn them in for a grade. Gives two tests, speeches, and for the research paper, he'll let you do a rough draft so you'll have an idea how well you're progressing. Likes participation.

He's an extremely intellectual person and has a lot to teach about life and what we really should be focused on. After such a long time of not being in school, he gave me the confidence and motivation to know that I had the potential of being anything I put my heart to. He's witty and funny.I enjoyed jis class and hopefully you will too.

This was probably the best class I took at Miami-Dade. This guy is "weird" but he will make you open your eyes to things you never taught off. Very very greatful I took this class. He is always smiling. A +

He is much more "liberal" than the regular miamian might normally be used to(meaning that some might think him "wierd" but he has much to offer to anybody who cares to listen. He's huge on ethics (environmental, moral, etc.) very cool. a class to think.

Love him! He has ways of unfolding layers of thinking about the world we live in like an onion. Just when you think the discussion has gone in every direction you thought it could he peels back another layer!

Nice man, but my god does he like to assign work. Be prepared to write a lot & to have h.w. every single day. He really does read everything you write, word for word. However,you can turn in work late for a lower grade.

Has a good sense of humor with a touch of sarcasm. Alot of reading and writing required for this class. Alot of speeches as well. Con- Alot of work outside of class. Pro- Much more effective writer and speaker. Highly recommended!

Very polite, respectful, humorous, and even caring to his students. Alot of assigments, but fair grading. I would take him for a third time if possible. He is willing to talk abount any topic and nothing is off limits, leading to intresting discussions. Take him.

Great professor!!! I learned a lot from him. He is not there just to teach but to help you understand different issues in society. He's a great person. Craziest guy I've ever met! But he will always keep you laughing. He's a really nice person and the class is really interesting. Helps you open up more and be more social than normal. He gives a crap load of h.w. but keep up with your assignments and you'll be ok. His grading sysyem is really good too, it helps you improve your writing a lot.

His class is pretty easy. Not too many speeches to give and they are very short and he is fair. Grade not based just on speeches but also on tests/quizzes and notebook/journal assignments. No clear grading system and hasnt truly followed syllabus but very easy A if you do all the work.

Class is as interesting as the students in it. The professor does assign alot of busy work but its mostly journals that you can make up. Test are open notes. (midterm and final)

Super nice professor, hes very understanding and tries to help with anything. I had him for speech so most of the class was just a big discussion on random things but it was pretty fun. Just do all the work and speak well infront of people (easier said than done) and you will pass.

i had him for both enc1102 and spc1026, he super nice, funny, and understanding. However, you do work in both theses classes, but its super easy! I recommend him, he makes you enjoy your class time.

Open and honest professor that makes the class feel at ease doing speeches. He has a wonderful personality. If you need a constant update on your grade - you won't get it. He hardly works from a syllabus or specific numbers for grades. Learn to live with the uncertainty! The class was amazing! Highly recommend this professor.

Awesome professor. At first I did not want to take this course, afterwards I believe it helped me in my public speaking, plus a bond is created with the other students since everyone was in the "same boat". Had alot of fun and the exams were open notes "at least for the mini-summer class". Highly recommended

Lichtman is one of those teachers that you remember for the rest of your life. He really makes you think deeply. THe material he makes you read gives you insight to new things you may have never thought of before. Need to do all the HW and a research paper at the end. Fairly easy class and you will leave a different person in some respects.

Teacher is Expressive, Clear, Intelligent, and Humorous; class is Enjoyable, Productive, and Useful...lots of speaking / communication practices on a variety of topics. Treats students with respect and helps them to overcome their fears of speaking aloud.

Probably the best professor I had all semester. He is really nice, makes things fun and easy, always answers e-mails quickly, and you can have a good relationship with him. HIGHLY recommend.

Overall it was a pretty easy class best speech class when u compare it to others.The easiest part was the speeches. You have to do about maybe 5 or so & they range from 1-5min. You have 10 journal assignments total that are 300-500 words. A midterm and a final that i dont think were graded fair but overall he is funny, understanding, and easy!

He was really cool, he got emotional sometimes when he was giving speeches and cried a little bit, it was kinda touching. But I had an enjoyable time with him and I recommend him for anyone who wants to better their public speaking as well as personal speaking abilities.

wow, best speech prof ever!! you HAVE to take him for speech!! he doesnt teach much from txtbook, but then again, speech is not sth u can teach! u will be busy with journals and speeches, but trust me, you will learn a lot!! by end of semester, the whole class will feel like family. :) awesome class!!!!

Super fun, interactive class. Will make a more outgoing and possibly articulate person (with the speeches youll have to make) of you if youre not already that way. Do the notebooks, take notes from the book (for open-notes exams) and really think about how you will deliver each speech. I recommend taking speech communication with this professor!

This teacher is great. You'll learn. Open note tests, 9 notebooks (1.5 pgs/e) about related subjects; 2 tests- semi-difficult. lots of speeches that you'll enjoy preparing and delivering. Mandatory att., tho. Take him! :)

This Professor brings out the best in you. Who likes Speech?...NOT! This is more than just a college course it is a LIFE course. Mr. Lichtman made it fun and provided all the information we needed to get an "A". Professional, Caring, Has a heart for teaching...AWESOME!!!!

If you want to get something out of a speech class take him. A negative is, you will always leave on time of 5 minutes late, never early. He really does tap into you though and makes you want to give a better speech, not because you have to. The work load is not the easiest, but nothing you cant handle; one assighnment per week... C'mon now.

This has been one the best professors I've had in MDC. He truly likes to help his students and you really learn a lot. He likes to talk a lot but he gives everyone a chance to be heard. He really knows what he's talking about.

He was AWESOME. Everything he teachs is sooo helpful for everyday life. He helped me become a more open and comfortable person. He makes you do speeches which I hate but helps you learn to do better. Great Prof. Everyone should take this class.

If you're truly interested in improving your public speaking skills, this is the teacher you want to take. Basically there is an essay due every two weeks and in between those weeks there is a speech to give. No extra credit and tests can be difficult, but I learned a great deal in this class and my classmates felt the same.

If you are going to take a speech class, this is the man to take it with. I highly recommend him.

I looooved this class. Yes he does give work but what do you expect? It's college people! This class really helped me out with my speaking & communication skills. I loved the he gets you to interact with the class. We all became really good friends & you feel comfortable giving speeches once you get to know the class. I highly reccommend him!

Now, if you want to be good at giving speeches then take him! he will prepare you well! and the journals help you for the test.. its like a review! this guy really gives you chance if your not doing well, if he sees you're trying really hard, he'll take that in consideration.

i really hated speech class before and then when i took his class i hated it even MORE! he makes you try and get in touch with your feelings and talk about that in your speechs. and those journals were the biggest waste of paper! it was horrible. hes a nice person and everything but his class was just too much , and his test were impossible to pass

1) Im an "A" student, and ive got a C+ in that class...my friend has a D and she has not received anything less than As and Bs on her work (she has a D because she missed one journal)2) Too much work, its ridiculous. 3) he grades journals like if its a writing class. 4)there are plenty of other professors, dont waste your time with this one.

Very clear with what he expects. He gives a steady about of work but it's doable. Beware of hard exams!!!

He is a great professor and helps students along the way. Got a low grade in a speech? No problem, he gives you chances to upgrade the speeches for a better grade, same with the journals. The tests are a bit difficult, but if you reading the chapters and do the study guide, it will help. This is not a slack class, but it is a good one.

Very fair & helpful. Quizes and tests are straight from the book & he gives vocab study guide beforehand. As long as you do the work, you will be okay. Made class fun and everyone improved since the 1st day. I would take him again for another class.

He once took a thirty day silent retreat with meditation. His class can actually be valuable outside of dade. His lectures are entertaining. I hear other professors give less work. However, I was rarely bored in the once a week 2+ hour class. A good professor if you want an enriching and engaging class and can work some then Id suggest him.

Lichtman is a nice man and he teaches very well. He can be a bit sarcastic sometimes but he's funny and cares about the students doing well in terms of the speeches, as well as the written work. He does give a lot of work so keep up to date with your assignments. His quizzes relate to the book so be sure to READ the chapters.

Looks and acts like Bob Ross (google him) from the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. Really cares about what you take out of the class. Do your journals and study for the tests if you arent good with public speaking.

I took this class for the summer and it was way too much work! other classes were leaving early and doing way less work than us. I dont know about a regular semester. he is a really nice teacher but he wont bite his tongue for no one. You need the book! if u dont slack off and be focused and understand the material than u will get your A. PARTICPAT

I got really close to my classmates The speeches really do bring you together but I will say I worked extremely hard for my A You cannot miss class alot and you need to read and understand the chapters in the book he doesnt do indepth reviews for the test I will say I learned a lot and ended up really loving his class but you need to be dedicated!

His class required a lot of studying, carefully making speech outlines, and applying myself. But in class he clearly would tell us what our speech needed to consist of, on one speech he told us specifically we need to cite our sources verbally, and a lot of students didn't. Hence why they may have done poorly.

He was a wonderful teacher. He gave you many chances to raise your grade at the end of the semester. Make sure you study for each test though ALOT and take the journals seriously and don't forget to do them because they can be that easy grade to bump you up! The only thing was class attendance was mandatory but worth it.

Amazing teacher and class. You have to do several speeches (they are fun), read plenty and a lot of classroom interaction between students and teacher. Enjoyed this class very much... Professor Lichtman is an amazing teacher and human being.

Honestly, he gave a LOT of work!!! But I feel that my communication skills drastically improved over the course of 6 weeks.If you want the easy way out, don't take his class BUT if you feel that communication is improtant... REGISTER! I took him at FIU, and he is one of my favorite professors so far. He's very personable, and helpful. For our assignments he gives clear instructions. He gives constructive feedback on your speeches. He even allows your peers to give you feedback. You will evolve as a public speaker with Lichtman.

This professor really cares about his students' grades, is passionate about teaching, and really knows what he's doing. Gives a lot of work but it was worth it to learn from such a great professor.

It really was an experience because there was 5 speeches, 4 papers, and 4 tests. The test was the most difficult because the test is tricky with truefalse questions. You have to really know the content well. If you do well on the speeches and journals, you will get an A. Take the course because you will feel comfortable and at ease with him

Mr Lichtman is absolutely awesome! Very into his students. He knows how to make you a better speaker and points out your flaws and your strengths to help you become a better public speaker. I will recomend him to anyone in any situation. Awesome stand out guy!

Professor Lichtman is great! I took this class online. There is a lot of work but he helps you. All you need to do is communicate with him. I would definitely take a class with him again. I learned a lot and I think this class is especially good for communication majors.

First the good. Answers emails very fast, very understanding, and assignments are clear. Now the bad. Too much work, more than any class I have ever had. Pretest, posttest, exams, quizes, discussion boards, speeches, essays, video quizes. Workload is ridiculous and book is super expensive. Midterm very hard.

WOW. glad I got to have him on his last semester. He was so deeply involved with all of us. It made the class very special and made him more memorable. It might be his last semester, but who knows. He gave me a gift at the end, it was so sweet. Very personal and really cares for improvement. You will be a better person after meeting Eric! Thank you
