Eric is funny. I really wanted to like this course, but I found it so hard to pay attention because he likes to ramble about topics that aren't really relevant to the course. It's hard to understand what is actually going to be on the test. His arrogant attitude actually had me leaving class annoyed at times. The book was a lifesaver in this course
I had Eric in the Fall Semester of 2014, and as a freshman, I can say that well, the guy did a great job. He is very funny, and he threw a few give-away questions on his tests (ex. "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?"). If you pay attention in class and study well, I can almost guarantee that you'll be satisfied. Eric is a wonderful professor.
Best professor I ever had (took this class a few years ago). He is awesome and funny. Posts the slides online, tells you what you need to pass, and it is an all around pleasure to be in his class. Anyone who complains about this class doesn't know how to study.
If you have to take psych 1100, take it with Lundquist. His lectures are clear, and power points are available. Holds review sessions, tests are straight forward. He tries hard to make lectures entertaining. Only 3 exams, including the final. Gives extra credit during the semester. By far one of the best teachers at UConn.
Worst psychology professor at UConn. Exams are tough and a lot of rambling in lecture
I loved having Eric for lecture. He is tons of fun! His exams made me smile because of all the jokes and give aways answers embedded. Also if you love dogs you should take him because he brings his adorable dog to lecture. Eric is great and I loved having him so much-awesome professor! The tests can be a little hard if you don't study!
I thought Eric was really funny and some of the things he had to say about random topics were pretty interesting. However, I couldn't tell the difference between his rambling and the material we actually had to know. His tests are really really hard and there are only 4 of them. Pretty hard class
He is nice and funny in lectures, but does tend to ramble and doesn't use many powerpoints or online materials so you have to go to class and pay attention and take notes. Also reading the textbook can also help to clarifyreinforce some points. Definitely attend though, the tests are tricky and hard if you don't know the materialexamples he gave.
His exams are tough but all the information you need to do well is covered in lecture. The textbook helps if you are confused on anything because it uses almost the same examples as he uses in lecture. Lectures not posted so go to class. Favorite class I have taken so far.
I love Lundquist, he's the reason I decided to become a Psych major.
I skipped a few lectures and still did really well on the exams. As long as you get the notes and give them a quick once-over before the exam, you're fine. I had the wrong textbook for the first half of the semester and didn't even notice, so the textbook isn't mandatory, but I'm sure it does help to have it. Sometimes he brings his dog to lecture.
He rambles on for the entire duration of class with minimal use of powerpoints/hard notes. His exams suck because he tests students on very diminutive things that he vaguely mentions in class. Would not take another class with him...
Dr. Lundquist is a great guy but only mediocre as a professor. He goes over a lot in class and expects you to remember literally everything. His exams often had extremely specific questions; that being said, if you're good at paying attention in class and always go to lecture, Dr. Lundquist would be a good professor to take 1100 with.
One of the best lectures I have had, very entertaining. Don't bother buying the book if you took AP psych. Tests were super easy, just write down what he says and he'll upload the powerpoints eventually. Review sessions were useful. Remember to write down examples given in class, it will be word for word on the exams. ALL exams are cumulative.
100% DO NOT take this class. Could not be more difficult to navigate through lectures with any clarity whatsoever. He runs on so many tangents that by the time you leave your head hurts and you have literally learned nothing. I have a good GPA and am a good student, I go to class and study and I am telling you to not spend money on this class.
Eric is a fun guy! Sometimes he will talk about the same topic for like 3 lectures and then the lecture before an exam load you up with all sorts of information. Exams are not that bad, study and you will get a decent grade. Do well in lab, it helps your grade a lot!
he's hilarious tough tests but great teaching
This class gets a bad review, but honestly the exams are doable. Two exams, two quizzes, one quiz is a take home. It isn't super hard, but Lundquist definitely makes you work for your grade. You have to really think about the material in order to do well on the exams. Otherwise a good class.
After seeing all the bad reviews, I was nervous about the class. However, Professor Lundquist is amazing. Yea he goes off on tangents a lot, but I was still able to follow closely to his main points. Tests were challenging but as long as you read the book they are easy. He has a webpage with the info you need to do well. Even brought his dog in!
If you go to class, do most not even all of the book readings and go to the supplemental Instructor's reviews and Lundquist's reviews you will most likely get an A. He's a really nice guy too and tries to make it as interesting as possible
I don't write reviews often but seriously don't take Psych with anyone but this guy. In order to do well, you 100% have to get your butt to class because he gives examples in class which show up directly on the exams. He gives opportunity for extra credit. Read the textbook pages on the parts not covered in class, he asks 1-2 questions bout them!
Lundquist made lectures entertaining and gave fun examples. Exams are based off the lecture notes so don't bother getting the textbook. There's no homework for lecture, but there is some for lab. Overall he's a funny guy and makes class fun, and his lectures are very straightforward.
Eric is the best prof I've had at UConn thus far. He is incredibly engaging and does everything possible to make the material interesting. You must go to lecture and you must study for exams--thoroughly. I never truly had to study hard for an exam up until I took this course, but I learned so much that it all felt worth it. Take this class.
He is a nice guy (and brings his dog sometimes) and lectures are informative, but boring. It is hard to focus in class. He expects you to know a lot for the tests and his tests are very difficult. It all seems so easy in lecture and then you get to the test and there are words you've never seen before. Although he offers a lot of easy extra credit.
Legit favorite man. Can be boring but he made us cookies and brings his dog in. If you study a few days before the exam you'll be fine. He also has his own grading scale which makes your grade higher and gives extra credit.
Such a nice man. Entertaining lecturer, but still can doze off. Makes psychology as interesting as he can. Brings cookies and his dogs to class. A++++
The class is easy and attendance is not necessary. Reviewing the lecture slides before the exams will get you in A in this class. The lab portion is also an easy A and a grade booster. There is opportunity to receive extra credit points for participating in participant pool experiments. Definitely take this course with Lundquist.
Eric is the best teacher for PSYC1100. His lectures are always super interesting and I really love hearing his ideas. He tells you to read from the textbook because there's usually one or two things he doesn't cover in his lectures that will be on the exam, but they're easy enough to learn on your own without the book. Sometimes he brings his dog!
He rocks!
Eric is a great guy. He is very straight forward from the start with what he expects of you. Three exams spaced out equally throughout the semester. He offers a study guide for each and as long as you do that and skim the assigned readings, you're bound to do good. Going to class is definitely important, since he says a lot not mentioned on slides.
Super nice and funny. Sometimes bring his black weiner dog Pluto in (soooo cute). Take lots of notes during lecture/don't skip. He'll give examples in class that will directly correspond to questions on the exams. His exam questions can be confusing, he wants you to logically come up with the answer instead of just memorizing. All multiple choice.
Focus and take a lot of notes in lecture, as many of the questions on the exams come straight from his examples. He's a really funny guy, and knows what he's talking about. "Lab" portion counted for 1/4 of the total grade, and was easy to get extra credit that will significantly help your grade. Not an easy A, but quite manageable.
He's a humorous werido. He sometimes bring his dog or dancing in class. He is very accessible to students after class and he's extremely friendly. Don't hesitate to ask him any question. He's lectures are full of fun. His exam need you really think through the knowledge instead of remembering every thing. I think he's a good instructor!
It's not an easy A but I absolutely love Eric! He gives hilarious and useful lectures that coincide with the book. Two exams and two quizzes with moderately difficult questions- if you take good notes in class and study a bit you'll be fine! Don't let the other reviews scare you- this is a definite must take class!
Eric is a fair teacher except that his tests are hard. Definitely need to know the information really well and be able to apply it and not just memorize it. He's a funny guy, the best psych 1100 professor at uconn by far. Skipping a few lectures here and there is okay but don't skip lab, its 1/4 of your grade and attendance is taken. Not an easy A
Eric is a great person and tries his best to make lecture interesting. Lab is super important, it's 25% of your grade. He sometimes brings his dog, Pluto, to lecture and it's the best.
Love Eric as a person, but the class wasn't the best. Tests were pretty tricky-- not the kind that you can just look over your notes the night before. An A is attainable, but you really have to work for it. If you have to take Psyc at UConn, DEFINITELY take it with Eric. Great guy and really tries to make his lectures interesting and enjoyable.
Eric is a really good guy, but I'm not a huge fan of his teach style. He would put the same slide up for what seemed like the first three weeks of class, and it was like he was talking about something completely different. He does his best to make it interesting, and the material isn't hard, his lectures just don't often have much structure to them
Lundquist really inspired me to take more courses in the area. lectures were always very digestible, well-organized, super clear on what he required, always fair on the exams, tried to put effort towards students' passing. He consistently entertained questions during & after class, wasnt stingy with his time & joked a ton. Couldnt recommend enough.
Perfect in each and every way. Wonderful professor. Great personality.
I really like Eric, he's a great teacher. This class is very difficult though, and your grade is based primarily on exams.
I always looked forward to this class, and now having taken exams, I like to think I know this class (Maybe). I think that he is very lecture heavy, but the material is not difficult and he's very interactive and helpful. If you study, you will do fine.
He is awesome!!!!
Although he's a very nice guy and tries his best to make lecture entertaining, his classes (I've taken several now) completely lack structure. He rambles about things that aren't necessarily course material and sometimes glosses over what actually is course material. He uses a self made website for material that is confusing and hard to navigate
Solid dude. He's really funny. Tough class, I wish I did pass or fail.
Professor Lundquist is great. He cares about you and wants you to learn. He does hold review sessions before tests and encourages you to visit the SI. He is also a great lecturer and has even brought his dog in to explain some of the concepts. However, he does not know much about the labs you do and you really have to work to get a good grade.
He's the man! He has a great sense of humor and his lectures are never dry and often very interesting. I would recommend attending all of the lectures because the course content isn't just general knowledge and you will learn a lot. He gives a lot of support as well as a student instructor who has previously done very well in the course.
Best psych teacher you could get at UCONN. Hilarious and brings his dog to class and bakes cookies for all 700 students. The exams make up your whole grade so if you study hard for those you will do well. Has many helpful review sessions prior to exams as well.
Professor Lundquist is super passionate about psychology and that shows in his lectures. Exams are all multiple choice but can be a little tricky since its more conceptual ideas and applying them instead of memorization. He tries to be funny and is sometimes awkward. Also brings in his dog Pluto about 4 times a semester.
I previously took psychology which made the class a lot easier. There is definitely a lot of material to memorize but he explains the material very well. He is a very funny, caring professor and his lectures are interesting and engaging. There are 3 exams total and no other assignments and an extra credit opportunity. I would definitely take again
Eric is awesome! He is funny and always engaging. The lectures and readings are a bit heavy, with the exams being cumulative so the class is tough and you have to work for it. His dog makes guests appearances and it's the best thing ever. Be prepared to work your butt off though.
Eric is a great person and really knowledgable about the content (occasionally brings his dog to class). However, the way he teaches has little structure or organization, which made this class way harder than it should've been. He tends to ramble quickly with very little slides which makes it hard to understand what's going on.
Eric is a really cool guy. He cares a lot about his students and always sends funny emails before exams. His lectures can lack structure ,but he tries to not make them boring. He baked cookies for his lectures and brought his dog to class! Study for a day or two before the exams and you'll do well. Most examples on exams are from lecture.
Doing the practice exams are highly recommended, it definitely prepared me for the real exams.
Eric is such a nice guy and really tries to make lecture fun and interesting. This class isn't very hard, especially if you took AP psych. Lab is an easy A and is worth 25% of your grade. Go to lecture because a lot of questions on the exams come from examples he talks about in class. I found that not having/reading the book didn't really hurt.
A very fun prof. Attendance isn't mandatory, but exams are very lecture heavy & cover examples that he talks about in class. Lectures sometimes don't have a clear structure, but are still interesting. I recommend getting the textbook, b/c there are some topics he doesn't cover in lecture, but are still on the exams.
Eric is a very enthusiastic guy. Lectures may seem laid-back, but he is covering a lot of material very quickly. It's extremely important to pay attention and write his examples down. Focusing on his powerpoints won't necessarily cut it. His dog is adorable and he's really funny. Would recommend.
Pretty easy class, good professor
Great professor, very enthusiastic , and funny. It wont hurt if you miss a 1-2 classes but the exams are lecture heavy. His powerpoints are online and he tells you exactly what to study. Overall great professor, he made psychology interesting and fun.
Professor Lundquist's lectures are the best you will ever go to. He is a really funny guy that makes learning the material not only bearable, but exciting. 10/10 would recommend if you are looking for an easy gen ed.
I had Eric for 1100 and loved him, but 3100 was very different for me. He jumps all over the place and his slides are sparse. He says a lot of things not on the slides, so you need to pay attention. Our whole grade came from two quizzes and two exams, so make sure you study your notes! He's an absolutely amazing professor, but the class was tough
Lundquist cares about his students, and is passionate about the material. You do the work, you get the grade. Very easily doable class if you put the effort into it.
Eric is a great man. Besides bringing his dog in A LOT, baking 400+ students cookies, and making some exam answers hilarious, he truly loves his subject and wants students to succeed. His exams are very fair and lab is an easy A as long as you show up and respect the TA. He is very accessible and send the most hilarious emails. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Going to lecture and taking notes on exactly hat he says is important. The powerpoints are online, but the tests are focused on what he says and not the slides. Overall, supper nice and funny guy! He even made cookies for the entire lecture!
HE SOMETIMES BRINGS HIS DOG PLUTO INTO CLASS!!! You can tell he is a nerd and really knows a lot and cares a great deal about this discipline.
He gives plenty of examples and manages to show knowledge in his area. Unfortunately, he tends to ramble a lot and talk very fast with a lack of lecture slides, making the class much harder than it needs to be. He also tends to emphasize that he doesn't know what he is doing, and tells us the exams will be hard on both him and us.
He talks a lot about irrelevant things so that makes lecture a drag. However, most of the things in his exams are based on his lectures, with the exception of a very few things that he mentions that are in the readings. He had a S.I. and review sessions, so if you ever struggle I would suggest to attend those. Pretty much an easy A
Nice guy, AWFUL TEACHER. Rambled on all the time and tests were unfair to a degree. Wouldnt recommend this class because this lowered my GPA big time and I NEVER have gotten below a B in any class except for this one.
Continually reminded us of how he doesn't know what he's talking about and is very off topic. He is a funny guy I have to admit and seems like a really nice person but.. I could teach the class better myself. 3 exams worth 33 percent of your grade. I wouldn't recommend taking this class for an elective because its anything but easywith this profess
Professor Lundquist is an EXTREMELY nice and funny guy. Unfortunately, he gets off topic very easily and crams all the material within the last fifteen minutes of class. Three unfair exams worth thirty-three percent of your grade. This course should be much easier than it was.
Lectures were very boring and he didn't present the statistics material very clearly. I taught everything to myself, and luckily he had make up assignments for the exams to help boost your grade.
Eric is a great professor and the class is very straightforward. He is enthusiastic in his teaching which makes lectures enjoyable. Just show up and take notes on the examples he references to do well on the exams. He adds in a good amount of extra credit, so as long as you put the effort forward, you will do well.
Eric is awesome! He is so funny and brought the whole lecture cookies and brings his dog to class often. The grade for class is based off of 3 exams and your psych lab grade. Psych lab is an easy A and exams can be a bit challenging, but he takes that into consideration and curves it quite a bit AND gives about 5 free questions on exams!
He's really a fun teacher and tries to make the lectures entertaining except he'll get off topic. The info on his slides aren't always the best either, but just showing up or reading some of the textbook was enough. 3 exams total, not always easy but he curves them. Plus he brings his dog in a lot and made cookies for everyone!
Amazing professor
Okay I am not typically one to post about a professor but this mans spends way too much time on stuff that is not necessary at all. We spent more than two full classes going over the syllabus and "what to expect" from the course. Like, just teach us?! He talks during exams and adds way too many comments on things. He's funny, but tone it down bro.
Very nice guy, but he does not teach just rambles on about useless information. Lectures are unbearable, and yet he puts information from the lectures on exams. Grading criteria are not very fair. It is possible to find the textbook online for free. Would not take again.
Show up to lecture and take notes, he is engaging and his passion for the materiel truly shows. If you took AP psych or just have good study skills you will get an A. Also do all the experimental credits for some extra points
Honestly Eric is a funny guy but he is SUCH an awful lecturer. He rambles on about nonsense and it makes lecture that is an hour and 15 mins SO unbearable. He spent at least 2 or 3 weeks just talking about the syllabus, and now that classes are online, he goes MIA and doesn't update us on what's to come. Don't take PSYC1101 if you don't have to.
Hes so nice but his class is so hard. Hes unorganized and I did poorly on exams and its basically graded all on exams so its hard to bounce back
He is a great professor for PSYC 1100, but not so much for PSYC 1101 because he is much more passionate about material learned in 1100. He is very funny and not super serious. His slides are pretty easy to understand, but he explains a lot in lectures that are important to note. It's essential you read the textbook! Exams make up your grade!
Eric is a great person and you can tell he cares a lot about his students. He goes out of his way to make sure you are getting all the resources you need to learn. But he's quite the rambler so be prepared for that in his lectures. Overall a great experience.
Hands down the worst professor I have. He seems fun but has no idea how to teach online. I don't know how he was in-person but online he is a nightmare. All he did was post lecture audio with a black screen and you had to follow along on his slideshows that were word-heavy and all over the place. Impossible to learn this way. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS
He is a very nice person but tends to ramble a lot in lecture. Online classes consist of pre-recorded lectures on a black screen with audio so you have to really pay attention. Exams aren'y hard, but definitely conceptual, you have to really know your stuff.
Took weeks for him to post lectures then posted all at once. Took discipline to pay attention. Babbles & off topic stories occasionally relevant. No HW. Textbook optional (don't bother). Everything is in the PowerPoints he posts (sometimes tests you on little examples from lectures). Entire grade from 3 tests, but gives you 3 hours & open notes.
You have to know what sort of person you are. If you can be accountable for your work and be caught up, this is a great class. I do very well because I can sit down at a time and listen and follow along with his pre-recorded lectures. Sadly, we are only graded by a few things, but so far the test was fairly easy. I thoroughly enjoy this class.
From my experience taking the class, it's very lecture heavy. He tends to go on tangents, yet he always gets to the point eventually. He's a hilarious professor and has made learning the content easier with my experience. Pay attention, take thorough notes and you should be fine. He has a passion for teaching the content and it shows. (:
He teaches and explains the information really well so it's easy to understand (even the science bits). He's always available for extra clarification and willing to help. Most of the grade is dependent on tests but I've found them to be easy if you take notes and listen to the lectures. Very passionate about the subject.
Eric's lectures can be a bit all over the place, but you really will learn a lot from him. He's a super interesting guy & knows how to make even the most boring topics fun. The entire class is 3 exams and a lab so if you aren't a good test taker I would stay away. PS DONT get the textbook, he said at the beginning of the semester he hadn't read it.
Funny guy, but translation over to fully online was a little difficult for him. The slides are sparse so you need to the lectures, but the lectures are all over the place and 50 minute long videos of a black screen so beware! Wish I had the chance to take it in person, but the exams are easy enough and open note.
Eric's a great guy, and I wish I had the opportunity to take this in person with him. He's super understanding with COVID, and our exams are open notes+no camera. There's only 2 exams and the final, awesome! I personally disliked his prerecorded lectures, but I got As on the exams so far with just the slides. Take it with him, you won't regret it!
I definitely regret not having him in person. He was absolutely hilarious and always managed to keep me entertained during his lectures. Best way to do well is by taking notes and reviewing them. He wants you to succeed!
The lectures would have been 10x more entertaining in person, but the professor's humor and fun references definitely helped. Make sure you actually listen to the lectures and take good notes because the exams are very lecture heavy. We had extra credit opportunities and the lab was an easy A.
Professor Lundquist is a great person who wants students to do well and understand the current circumstances of learning during the pandemic. Lectures are great, be sure to watch/go to lecture (depending on format) and read the textbook. Exams are fair and possible to get A in class if you study and work hard. Great class for anyone who needs 1101.
I really wish I could have met Eric in person! He is very funny, so his lectures (and emails for that matter) are always interesting and never boring. I didn't read the textbook-he posts a pdf version you can use during the test. All exams were open-notes. Would recommend watching lectures and taking notes, as his exams are lecture-heavy.
Eric is probably one of the kindest professors at UConn. He goes to great lengths to make sure his students pass.
Eric is funny and kind hearted. Not good at responding to emails, but has Webex office hours 2x weekly. Exams are open note / curved. I took this to brush up on psych for the mcat but I honestly don't feel like I learned much, class was pretty disorganized with his sporadic posting of lectures and how off topic he would get, nevertheless easy A.
Grade is 3 exams worth 75% of your grade other 25% is an easy once a week lab portion. The three exams are all multiple choice but insanely difficult only material for the entire class is 30 hours of lecture audios from his class in 2017 with a black screen and subtitles. other than exams class has no hw or other work but exams are very hard.
The hardest part of this class is knowing how to prepare for the 3 exams that determine your grade. Short answer: all you really need to do is watch the lectures and take good notes, beware though they can be long. He does not respond to any emails, so it's best to just ask in a Webex call. He seems nice, but his class is very disorganized at times
Eric is just a great guy, lectures are funny and easy to listen to. I took this online and exams were open note on lockdown browser. As long as you take notes in lecture the exams are easy. It's easy to get behind on lectures though. He also gave us a free online textbook which was nice considering I didn't use it once. Would take any class w/ Eric
Professor Lundquist is extremely funny and really knows how to interact with college students, and I'm disappointed I did not get to experience his class in person. I feel like the online format did not appeal to his teaching style, lectures were hard to follow and were just audio recordings from last year. Your grade rides on the exams.
Forget the textbook, the exams are based on his words from lecture. Write his most important points from lecture down and study that. Exams were open note and relatively straight forward. You must know what he's talking about to do well though. Don't bother with the meetings unless you have a question. He often posts lectures annoyingly late.
Prof. Lundquist used audio clips from a 2019 class. The slides he provided are not the same as those he goes over in class so at times it is a bit hard to follow. It's also a little sad to hear everyone having fun in class while doing the lectures. The tests are easy because they're open note. I think he would be good in person, but not online.
Honestly, you either hate or love him Pros: He had a good personality, funny, seemed to care, lectures explained the material, attendance was optional Cons: lectures were boring/long, doesn't respond to emails at all, your grade is really just exams, very confusing at times/all over the place Textbook is semi-useful but honestly watch his lectures
Amazing lectures. I wish I was able to take him in person. He also does a nice curve on final grades.
I really wish I'd gotten to experience him in person. Listening to his lectures, it seems like it was a really fun class. He's stilly relatively funny online and his e-mails make me smile. He very clearly wants you to do well so he curves the exams and adds one or two additional questions where he'll tell you the answer so you can get extra points.
Eric is awesome. Really wish I got to take this class in person. His lectures were extremely funny and enjoyable even through a computer screen with only audio. Your grade depends on 3 exams (and a lab) which isn't ideal but if you take notes on the slides and the lectures, you should be fine. The exams are open note.
If you are okay with reading essay length announcements, you'll do alright. He is funny and if you read his stuff, it is good, but can feel like a waste of time. He loves the textbook, but there is a free online one somewhere. Exams are okay, but you need to prep a little first. He does explain well, but was behind schedule and never posted lecture
I loved this class! If you take notes during lecture and use them during the exams you'll do really well. I just wish the lectures he uploaded weren't audio files and that i was able to experience this class in person.
Eric is a great choice for an intro psych class. The key to success on exams is to write down EXAMPLES of concepts in his lectures. If you do that, and take thorough notes, you should be well off. He even offers extra credit opportunities. Only con is he doesn't respond quickly to emails, but if necessary you can see him during office hours.
One of the worst. great guy, terrible teacher. Rambles on and on about nothing. 1 hour 15 minute class and he gets through one slide. textbook is necessary if you want to actually learn the material. Easy grader on exams though. If you can get past the god awful boring lectures, its easy.
Professor Lundquist was a good professor in the sense that he was clear about what information you have to know and didn't try to trick you on exams. He was friendly in class but his lectures were very slow. This is an easy class if you study for the tests!
His lectures are incredibly boring and tests were very hard and not open note. Lab is a super easy grade and tests were always curved but definitely not easy
I loved this course, the lectures are dense but Professor Lundquist is such an amazing person to be learning from. His passion for the topic makes the lectures engaging and the fact that he brings his dog to both online and in-person lectures whenever he can is beautiful. You have to do a little reading and definitely take good lecture notes.
Prof. Lundquist is fantastic, his lectures are genuinely interesting to listen to. He makes the topics of the class very easy to understand, and his exams are almost word-for-word what he says in lecture. As long as you take half-decent notes and study a bit, this is an easy A with him, HIGHLY recommend.
Attend the lectures. Hes such an amazing person and makes Psych interesting to learn. But study hard. You have to work for that A.
great professor! eric kinda rambles in class so sometimes its a little boring but honestly, he cares about his students and is passionate about psyc. i would tell my friends about his everyday, definitely take him if you can. plus sometimes he brings his dog :)
I really liked Eric (Yes, he has you call him Eric). I didn't attend all of the lectures, and did fine. He makes the lectures very interesting, and he even brings in his dog sometimes, which was definitely a highlight of the semester. You have to take a lab course with them, but the lab has nothing to do with the course. No homework, but hard exams
The class itself isnt too bad but sometimes the lectures can be very dry as he rambled a lot. But a lot of the time he makes it fun and interesting. But the SI sessions I found to be SOOOO helpful as she made special slides and practice exams. Thats literally all I studied for the tests. He also curves them a lot which is good!
Eric is a nice guy, but his lectures are so boring. He goes on tangents and doesn't actually get through a lot of relevant material. I found that a lot of the material overlapped with AP Psych which I had taken in high school. If you have a psych background you prob don't need the lectures. I just studied the textbook a bit for exams and I was fine
He's a solid guy, but he rambles a lot. The only grades are exam grades & the psych lab. It's relatively easy to pass, but if you're aiming for an A, you're gonna have to go to the SI meetings. The exams are primarily about one of seven topics covered in lecture. Super cool guy though, just be prepared to do a lot of teaching on your own.
you need to go to the SI sections in order to pass. he is really nice, however does ramble on a lot and its hard to pay attention in class.
Eric is a nice guy, he is definitely enthusiastic about the material. He is not awfully clear and definitely rambles on about random topics. SI really helped, as did reviewing the slides on my own before lecture so I could connect the ideas better. Overall not too bad, just make sure not to leave studying to the last minute. And go to his review!
eric is the best professor i have ever had. period. his teaching style isnt for everyone, but the class is doable regardless of whether or not you go to lecture. he cares, and he loves psych. he wants you to succeed. recommend any of his classes to anyone.
The class is based 25% on your discussion section and 25% on each of the 3 exams. The lectures definitely aren't for everyone, and sometimes the things he explains the most are seemingly the most basic concepts. He cares about his students a lot though, and often times he brings in his dog (his name is Pluto and he's really adorable)
he rambles alot during lecture, expect to have questions on the exam nothing like what he talks about. applying Concept heavy NOT definitions really for exams. love his dog tho. Just utilize the textbook, make quizlets. I ended with a c+ because i skipped classes & studied 2 hours before each exam. so you can get a B.
He is a really good guy and very passionate about the stuff he teaches. Exams were pretty fair, but these are the only grades besides research participation so it was kind of stressful. He does offer up to 7 extra credit points which is very uplifting and brings his dog sometimes. He does ramble but I didnt mind it because it is interesting stuff
This course is kind of unorganized and he rambles a lot during class which makes it hard to focus. The material is interesting and he's a nice professor who seems like he wants his students to do well, but this definitely isn't an easy course, you have to put in the work to do well.
LOVE HIM! he can ramble a lot but he posts the slides online so its ok, only 3 exams which were straight forward and pretty easy, only take if you like self teaching and dont rely on lectures, hes also super funny and tries to make light of his class which is super refreshing
Eric is such a nice guy and really wants his students to succeed, but the information for this class is not compatible with his teaching style. This material is way too confusing and needs a more rigid structure to actually make sense, and his rambly lectures do not do the information any favors, which makes exams difficult. Textbook is helpful.
Eric is a really nice professor and makes funny dad jokes, but like everyone has mentioned, he rambles, a lot! So it's hard to follow along and figure out what's important for his exams. He has a website where he puts his notes up and that's still confusing to me. I didn't know what to study!
solid dude
Super engaging and funny lectures. He definitely likes to hear himself talk and gets carried away on tangents sometimes, but you will never be bored. Exams are easy as long as you study for them. I never read the book and still got an A in the class. He is always willing to talk to you after class on material if you need help. Very approachable.
Eric is a very nice professor. Lectures can be long and he rambles sometimes, but he is very funny and personable. His exam's are not difficult, so long as you study and attend lectures, which I strongly recommend. He will sometimes bring his dog in and always starts class by playing a song that has some relation to the lecture.
Eric is probably my favorite professor I've ever had. He is a gem--so smart, funny, and his enthusiasm for the subject makes his lectures engaging. Yes, he rambles, but it's entertaining and once you get used to his style he's actually easy to follow. The class is at 5pm but I actually look forward to going to it. Also his dog Pluto is the cutest!
there are three exams. all lockdown browser. in person. with people monitoring. all lecture slides are posted so attendance isnt really mandatory. but in the lecture he rambles and goes off topic all the time and really isnt too helpful. seems like a great sweet guy tho. exams are harddd to study for tho. def not an easy A unless u r a genius.
eric is very enthusiastic, but his lectures are rambling sessions. you can never tell what will actually be on the tests. all of the exams are in person using lockdown browser with lots of rules. if you loved ap psych in hs, this is nothing like it. he does bring his dog sometimes which is super cute. fun lectures, but be prepared to be confused.
Eric is a great guy and likes to build student-professor relationships. I took Psyc 1100 with him and this class has a lecture and lab section, the class has 3 exams, meaning that most of your grade relies on attending lectures since there's no other assignments. He rambles a little but if you take handwritten notes it's easier to concentrate
Eric means well, but this class is impossible, He curves everything by 20% because everybody does so poorly on the exams. his lecture slides and exams are not even English. he brings his lucky dinosaurs to test days, but they are in fact not lucky at all. your grade is a reflection of how good your are at guessing. best of luck.
The lectures include a lot more rambling rather than teaching. The course requires a lot of studying if you want to pass the exams, there is only 3 exams plus a lab section. If you fail the exams you will fail the class. Slides are not helpful and the questions on exams are very different from what you would expect.
everything he says in class makes absolutely no sense. more than Half of what he says in lectures has nothing to do with the exams. he was defiantly a theater kid because he does not stop talking ever. his slides have little to no information on them that will even help you with your exams. he rambles about stuff that doesn't matter.
- grade is based on three non cumulative exams including the final, and lab grade (easy A) - he brings his dog - go to lecture, he uses his examples in lecture on exams - lecture can get boring at times because he rambles - exams are all multiple choice but you still have to actually understand the material to do well - he does curve the exams
He is very passionate about what he teaches, but that passion often turns into rambling about unnecessary topics. This makes it very difficult to understand what material is important for the exams. Studying is essential to doing well on these exams, but there's no real study guide, so it's difficult to know what to expect.
He rambles about BS throughout the entire lecture making it difficult to decipher between important information (10%) and nonsense (90%). There are only 3 exams in which there are 30 very complex and specific questions that if you did not study for precisely, you will have to guess on. He has to curve exams because everyone fails them.
Eric is nice and very approachable. What I feel he needs to improve on are his lectures. Like everyone has said, he rambles a lot and you can't understand what is important and what's not. Also, his slides aren't too clear either. But you only have 3 non-cumulative exams you're graded on and a lab that is easy if you just follow the outlines given.
Eric is really nice and friendly but I just felt his lectures were way too sporadic. It was really tough to keep up with him. If I had not taken AP psych in high-school and had a background on this info I don't think I would've done well in this class. Exams are not too bad if you study well.
Eric is a funny and nice guy but his class is absurdly hard for a gen-ed that is taken by so many people. His lectures and slides are confusing and he's all over the place in class. His tests are lockdown browser and proctored which is just not necessary for class like psych 1100. If you can get a different prof then I would
He's a quirky guy, brings his dog to class. Start the extra credit early, the Sona studies are limited. The SI lectures were more helpful than actual lectures; Saniya condensed the info and made it clear what we had to know. There are 3 major exams of 30 points each. Pretty hard exams imo, but he curves each one by a lot and gives you 3 hours each.
Eric is a little weird and thinks he's both incredibly funny and inspiring (he is typically neither). This class is incredibly easy; I learned more in 5 minutes of AP Psych than all semester. Exams are easy as long as you memorize the slides since they are curved a ton. Lab is easy -- expect those sections to only last 20 minutes or less each week.
His lectures are absolutely all over the place, and your grade is largely based on 3 rather difficult tests. Tries to be funny, sometimes is, sometimes brings his dog (LOVE PLUTO). If you took AP psych this class will be easy and may seem pointless; if not then go to SI because it's much more helpful than going to lecture. But still go to lecture.
There isn't any homework, only three tests including the final. The final isn't cumulative and only covers information learned after Exam 2. The slides are posted online so you don't have to go to lectures, however, he is more in depth during them and it might help a lot. The textbook is optional and he provides a free PDF.
Eric is the funniest professor I've ever had. Sometimes if I can't relate new topics to old things it's hard to learn, but he does this all the time with funny stories and it makes the lectures a lot more engaging and entertaining. The only assignments are 3 exams, it helps to go to the lectures for context, but I missed some classes and was fine.
Professor Lundquist is a really nice guy. Sometimes he goes off on tangents in lecture I feel like but you still have to pay attention and study well to succeed on the exams. There's never homework, but definitely review the slides often. Sometimes he brings his dog in :)
I went to every lecture because he was so engaging with the material. Lots of notetaking but he made it really manageable and interesting. He also frequently brings in his dog, Pluto, for the lectures. His energy made me smile and I would absolutely take another one of his classes
Enjoyable lectures, can get off topic quick but overall very good
really nice guy but I did not like him as a professor. lectures were really boring bc he would ramble which made it really hard to focus. most of what he said that was on the exams wouldn't be on the slides he posts which made studying difficult. exams were really hard, but they were curved. no homework at all which was a plus.
I had Eric for this class and Psyc 1000. I enjoyed both classes and Eric's passion for the subject contributed to this. He talks fast so you need to be a good note taker, and he tests on things he says in class that aren't on the slides he gives. The textbook isn't required to do well and his exams aren't hard, but it's cruical to study for them.
He's a nice guy, he doesn't want anyone to fail being that it is an intro course. I barely went to lectures, especially at the end of the semester and I still did well because I took notes on his slides / chapters. The tests are curved and participating in studies gave me extra credit. Overall he is chill, just lectures in a way I did not like.
Professor Lundquist is an amazing professor for how extroverted he is and I have nothing but respect for him and his seemingly spontaneous and unabashed craziness. I took PSYC 1100 and it was really difficult for me as an English major but Lundquist and his antics made the struggle totally worth it. He is amazing and is honestly the ideal teacher.
THe class itself is not horrible at all and the material is just alright. However, no offense to Eric but every time I go to lecture I cant bear his voice and how he always goes off on a tangent. He does blab a lot and it gets hard to focus but I do recommend taking hand writtin notes to focus more.
Eric is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He rants about topics that have nothing to do with the course and he talks like I'm supposed to have PhD in statistics. He also goes on and on while I take notes thinking this is stuff we're supposed to be learning but then he says, "oh but you guys don't need to know that its too advanced"
If you take Eric, 100% go to the lectures or SI sessions because that is what his exams are based off of. Even though it's general psychology, you do have to study for his exams because the questions are either super oddly specific (something he said in lecture) or very vague and open to interpretation. He curves well and lots of extra credit.
Funny guy, loves to ramble, and focuses a lot on the first few weeks of lecture when really you only need to know names and dates for exams. Exams are curved heavily and lab section is easy. Go to SI if you want to cut down on time studying for the exams though, very helpful.
Eric is such a funny and kind guy. I will say you need to study very hard for his exams because he tends to ramble during lectures so please consider reading up on material and any assigned readings (there are not too many at all so don't worry). There is no homework or classwork and there are only 3 exams (he curves them) so you have to do well!
I loved Professor Lundquist. He made lectures and emails appealing. However, his exams are very niche. It felt like I was taking the SAT for how some of the questions were worded. I thought this course would be a lot easier than it was. He is a great guy, but I was shocked by my final grade.
He was nice and kind, but he wasn't a very good teacher. I went to class a few times and he didn't really seem to be talking about much of anything content wise. I stopped going to class. His exams are open-note and I just read the textbook during the exam and then took the test. It is very similar to STAT 1000Q. He offered corrections as well.
This guy is great - his lectures were funny, made sense, and carefully guided me through the subject matter of PSYC 1100. I'd 100% recommend him for any course. Your grade is made up of three exams (which were just fine if you study) and a very easy lab/discussion section. Exams are in person and on lockdown browser, so study!
As a visual learner, I found the lectures difficult to learn from because the slides are formatted terribly and he rambles a lot, sometimes about relevant information and sometimes about random stuff. I was often not sure what I was supposed to be taking away from lecture until the week before the test. The SI sessions really help summarize stuff.
Professor Lundquist was definitely an amazing person. You can tell he cares about his students and what he teaches. But his lectures often consisted of about 10 slides of a powerpoint where the first 50 minutes of class were spent on slides 1 and 2, on which he rambled about mostly irrelevant information. Often difficult to synthesize what he says.
Eric Lundquist is a very sweet man and always brings his dog into lectures! However, I really did not like his teaching style. Each class, we would only get through 2 to 3 slides and he would honestly just ramble. It was very hard to follow, and I struggled to pay attention. His tests weren't too bad, but you do have to study a lot.
He was alright. His slides are awful and hard to follow but the SI teacher lauren does a good job. His exams are pretty reasonable, only 30 questions each. Theres a lot of material that you need to study a bit for.
I absolutely LOVE Lundquist, but lectures tend to only cover 2-3 slides every class & he rambles about random topics. The class is graded on 3 exams which are online/lockdown browser, 30 questions & not cumulative. They're not difficult if you study & he gives study guides for every exam. There's a lab w/ a TA that is 25% of your grade. Easy A
Absolutely terrible. These people below are lying. He does not teach, he RAMBLEs about random things on 1 slide for the entire semester then gives you test on stuff you'll obviously have no clue on because he does not teach all semester. If you are great at teaching yourself through his chaotic and unorganized slides-give this guy a try.
the goat
Lundquist is very nice but lectures are somewhat boring and a decent amount of the time he goes off on random rants. Tests are pretty hard, very theoretical, would recommend reading the textbook chapters and studying far out. Lab is very easy though and the extra credit can carry your grade.
Eric is very nice and approachable, but his lectures can be hard to follow and it can be difficult to pick out the important parts of what he says. Definitely read the textbook he recommends and attend the SI if you don't think you understand the content from only listening to the lectures.
Professor Lundquist is easily the best professor I've ever had! He clearly knows what he's teaching and is enthusiastic about it too. He also brings his little dog into lecture so he gets bonus points for that. He gives you the link to all his slides but take notes in YOUR OWN VOICE! It's very information heavy but if you try, you'll learn a lot.
Eric's lectures are so dry and boring he talks for the whole 50min, but the majority of it is him rambling on not talking about important topics. On his exam study guides there is so much content and so many pdf readings, you basically end up teaching yourself the material. He does curve exams A LOT which is nice.
Wow, I came into this class thinking it would be a basic Psych class, but Eric has taught it as if we are all pushing for a Psych degree. I like the way he gives examples in class but ends up rambling for 40 minutes. I got a shabby grade on the midterm and requested office hours 2 times, Its about to be finals week and still no email...
If you are good with memorizing concepts then this professor is definitely for you - but definitely prepare to be doing alot of studying outside of the classroom. Come to class with a coffee because his rambling will put you to sleep lol
Eric is an amazing professor. Sometimes he may go on rambles but that's normal in college, especially for a professor who loves his job. His exams are super easy, those who can't get an A either don't attend lecture, or slept through the lecture. It's really hard to not get an A in this class. Professor is really friendly and funny too!
Eric is a really nice guy who is very passionate about teaching. There is no homework for this class at all, 3 tests make up the entire grading criteria. All tests get curved though so as long as you pay attention to lecture and study a little you'll be fine.
Eric is a great guy, but not a great professor. His lectures are boring, and the way he structures the grades for the class is confusing and actively works against you. Your grade is based off of three exams.
Nice guy and informative lectures. Easy A if you go to class and take notes
Professor Lundquist seems to be a genuine guy who cares about his students' learning experience, but unfortunately he doesn't execute that very well. He rambles on about statistics topics that aren't even on the exam and barely emphasizes what he's actually going to test you on when the exam comes around. The textbook is essential for this course.
Eric is a very nice guy, but his lectures tend to do more harm than good. He rambles a lot and has the entire class lose focus on his topics. I would still recommend going to lecture tho. The exams aren't horrible, the second was the hardest imo, but if you took AP psych in HS you're gonna be fine. Take notes and read the textbook for extra help.
He's a really funny guy but his class can be tough. you HAVE to go to his lectures. It's not mandatory but if you care about your grade, GO because you will understand the exams more if you listen to him (He does ramble a lot so...) His exams can be kinda hard too because you need to fully understand the topic
He is a great person, but if you took AP psych and know most of the material, lecture isn't worth it. He talks about two slides the whole class, and i could take notes on the whole unit before he switches one slide. But he did always bring his dog and if you do the extra credit u can get 7 extra credit points. exams + final are just 30 mcq
eric's a wonderful person but a horrible professor. i stopped going to lectures and still got an A on the first exam and a B+ on the 2nd. he provides all the links you need on huskyct to study. lectures are just a waste of time and he takes forever to release grades. if you put the work in on your own time you can still do rly good in the class.
easiest professor ever, Go to class.
Lectures are so dry and boring, and most of the time they don't even help because he rambles on. You pretty much have to teach yourself all the material. Go to the SI Sessions and read the pdf chapters. He curves a lot which is amazing. Got two C-'s on exams and still managed a B-. Do all the extra credit experiments possible.
Eric is a great professor but sometimes he goes over board doing the lectures. There are extra credit option do those, that will help a lot there's only 4 exams. Go the SI session for the Psych class, it will help a lot .Take him for the course because the other one are not much good according to my fellow mates.
I loved Eric's lectures, but his teaching style doesn't work for everybody. He tends to ramble. You MUST attend lectures and actively listen, for your own good. He's a refreshingly chill and funny guy, and I enjoyed his class. Lab is 25% of your grade, and the 3 exams (2 midterms + 1 final) are 25% each, so STUDY!!! Some extra credit is offered
He's an entertaining professor but he gets really mad when people try to pack up early. 75% of the grade is 3 multiple choice quizzes but the information is structured so you cannot memorize terms but rather apply your knowledge. Do not forget to do the extra credit, it will help your grade a lot.
Very nice guy, pretty funny but he rambles a lot, it can get hard to follow along and take notes. A lot of people never showed up for lecture, you have to teach yourself most of the material anyways. Tests are easy to pass if you just study a little, he also brings his dog Pluto in a lot which was the best part of going to class.
Honestly as a psych major this class was awful. The tests r impossible and he doesnt make it clear what u need to know. Heard he is still better than the other options. Brings his dog sometimes which is fye
He is a really great guy, just rambles on in lectures, which makes it hard to focus or even go to class. He posts slides for the most part and the extra credit assignments are very helpful. The extra credit assignments brought my grade up two letters. Just get ready to teach yourself because he really does not explain anything.
Rough class. Eric is very kind and cares about his students. However, his methods of teaching are not great. It's very hard to follow along in lectures and the stuff taught is often quite different than what is in the book, making it VERY difficult to study. There are very limited slides. He does give a lot of extra credit on the first two exams.
Very nice guy, but he rambles a lot even though he claims he doesn't. If you show up for lecture and actually take time to study exams are easy to pass. He does a grade shift thing for each exam that supposed to help less people fail. Graded on three 30-question MC exams and lab (which is really easy especially with a good TA).
Nice guy. TERRIBLE Professor. So far, the worst professor I've had at UConn. Some people simply cannot explain to save their life, and this guy is one of those people. He makes up for it with easy exams and a ton of extra credit. But, his slides are old and disorganized, he rambles about irrelevant stuff. Psych can be taught in a much better way.
It's impossible to dislike the guy - he's charismatic and upbeat, if a bit zany. He once explained that he's not rambling, he's providing relevant examples to help us understand the material. That may be his perception of his teaching style, but imo it's most definitely rambling. Lab is free points, as is the extra credit. Easy enough A
Eric's has a friendly demeanor But has tendency to ramble during lectures makes it difficult for students to grasp important material. The lack of clarity in his presentation slides adds to the confusion, making it challenging to know what's truly significant. his exam format can be tricky, particularly for those who struggle with test-taking.
He is a very nice professor but he rambles a lot during lecture. Personally I can't retain any information when there is rambling and when its not material focused. Tests are worded very weird/hard but he does allow for extra credit to redo some questions on exams. He was good for PSYCH intro lectures, but would not reccomend for math PSYCH classes
A caring professor. He rambles a lot, which is sometimes difficult to understand what exactly he wants, however the material is not particularly hard. I would recommend looking and understanding the overviews he gives on HuskyCT. Tests fairly difficult, but gave a massive amount of extra credit on two of them. Graded by 3 exams plus a lab grade.
Overall the class was easy. Lectures were a bit boring and the slides weren't very clear. That being said, if you go to SI review sessions they provide easy to understand slides of the material. Tests weren't too difficult and he adjusts the grades based on the overall class performance. You can also get 7 extra grade points through extra credit.
Prof. Lundquist was super charismatic and passionate about what he taught. While he posted the slides, there were hundreds, and they were super disorganized and text heavy. You are basically only graded on the exams, which are tough. I did okay but I thought it was a little much for an intro course.
Eric is a wonderful man! He makes his lectures as engaging as possible with a little bit of charades, a little bit of (appropriate) cursing, lots of jokes, and lots of repetition to make sure that important concepts stick. He also brings his sweet little dog, Pluto, to class! He held a review session before our first test that was very helpful.
Eric is very educated on psychology and knows what he is talking about. He is very lecture heavy and doesn't post the slides on huskyct however, if you go to the lectures, you will be fine for the exams. He is very funny and engaging too!
Amazing guy, but his teaching methods just were not my favorite. If you go to the SI sessions you should be perfectly fine.
Prof. Lundquist is a funny guy but he is not a great professor. He tends to ramble during lectures and his lecture slides rarely make sense. Your grade is relying on 2 exams and 2 quizzes, which are all multiple choice, but do not have straight forward questions about the material. Overall, this class and his teaching style has just confused me.
Professor Lunquist is a very nice guy but the style of his teaching specifically for psyc 2500 is very hard to follow. The whole class is graded by 2 quizzes and 2 exams in which the questions do not make any sense and you have to reread them like 7 times to even understand what it is asking. I've heard he is good for Gen psych but NOT Psyc 2500!
Professor Lundquist is a really nice guy, he does ramble on in class and sometimes makes things sound more confusing then they really are. I have never read the textbook and you dont have to, his exams have nothing to do with what the book says. You are graded on 3 exams, your lab, and extra credit points. Make sure to study for exams!!
Eric is incredible. Super funny, brought his puppy Pluto to class almost every lecture! I got a 5 on AP Psych, so I assumed all the material would be irrelevant to me. But Eric made it intriguing regardless, and I learned new things despite my experience. Super understanding, flexible, funny, and always wanting to know students even in lectures.
Grades in this class are based off of two exams and two quizzes and one quiz is take-home. I think that this information is challenging to comprehend, but if you attend lecture and go to office hours he is more than willing to help his students succeed. He is a good explainer and is hilarious. He also brings his dog to class sometimes.
He is a nice guy and is very funny. He brings his dog to class to mask the fact that he is not a good professor. The material is REALLY hard to understand already and he explains it as if you already know about it so it's really hard to follow. He shows up late to his own office hours and his study guides are just full of links & tests are so hard.
This class isn't worth being a 1000-level course, he is a nice guy and clearly cares about the content but he has not way of articulating it clearly. His lectures and slideshows are all very messed up and he rambles a lot, if he provided more resources and didn't just give three exams as your grade, this class would be worth more.
Disorganized and tests are based on what he says on class. So even though participation is mandatory go to class. His slides have many words and don't make sense and his study guide is even worse. He goes the full lecture time and more some classes. Grade is based on three tests and lab. Chance for 5 extra points towards your final grade.
You don't need to go to lecture but the tests are really hard (but curved) so you need to study a lot. Eric rambled in his lectures and only covered like 2 slides per class, so it's not worth going. Save yourself time and just take notes on the posted lectures and listen to the posted recorded lectures.
PSYC1100 is exactly what you would expect for an intro level psych class. If you took AP Psych in high school, 85% of the content is the same. Eric is a funny and nice professor, but does tend to ramble. Tests are heavily curved, but definitely not the hardest and getting a good grade in this class is absolutely attainable. No need to read the book
Professor Lundquist is great at exploring the nuances of psychology. Even if you've taken a psych course during high school, you'll probably learn something new from him. His tests are pretty hard, but he curves the tests generously and the lab portion can boost your grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it really helps you pass the tests.
He was by far one of my favorite professors. His exams are pretty easy if you go to lecture and the only difficult part is you have to write down what he is saying and not just what is on the slides (I would use a computer because it's faster). Overall he is super funny and nice, and goes over all the material you need. Sometime he has his dog too!
Eric was one of the toughest professors Ive had at UConn. This class was unorganized. He taught the lecture using only 2 slides and would ramble the entire time. It's unclear what he wants us to study. The exams are super tough. He also expects students to know just as much as he does despite having zero relevance to the class.
Eric is a really nice guy. he is very passionate about psychology and brought his dog into lectures which was fun. However, this class was only graded based on exams and they were tough. The questions are worded weirdly, I had to reread multiple times. Study guides are a bunch of links and it's unclear what content is actually going to be on exams.
He would lecture and ramble the entire hour and only have like 4 slides max. the class was only based on exam grades & questions were worded extremely confusing. It wasnt clear on what we needed to study for the exams either. if you take this class prepare to teach yourself to content and to have to read the assigned textbook readings
Eric is lovely. He's very accommodating to his students, and the tests aren't that difficult assuming you go to class and use the comprehensive study guide he provides. He does like to yap about things that aren't on the exam, but it's because he genuinely loves the field of psychology and is passionate about it. Overall an easy class.
As a person, he is extremely friendly and funny. In terms of his teaching style however, he can be really hard to understand/follow as he tends to make references only he would understand and does not get straight to the point at all. The class is also only graded on 3 exams which isn't the best. He brings his dog Pluto in all of the time though!
his lectures are funny, but you don't need to go to them, the content is really easy and his tests aren't hard at all and are scaled like crazy, 3 in person tests is all your graded on. Extra credit is so easy to get. Go to the SI sessions before a test and just study that and its an easy A
Pros: easy extra credit, easy exams if you go to SI, final is not cumulative, nice if you go to office hours Cons: doesn't post lecture recordings, doesnt post lecture slides until right before the exam, kind of annoying during lecture, takes a long time to get to the point
He is a good guy, but his lectures and slides can be confusing. Definitely go to SI, it is super helpful. Your grade consists of 3 exams, the lab portion and if you choose to do the extra credit. I recommend doing the extra credit, it is super easy and worth it. Lab is also super easy
Nice teacher but slides are outdated and hard to read. I got Cs on both Exam 1 and Exam 2 due to studying off of his slides. For the final, I studied with the SI Session slides and did way better on Exam 3/Final. I don't recommend this professor because of the structure but he is nice overall
I love Eric, super funny, chill dude. Friendly and talkative. The slides contain main ideas/terms that he then explains verbally, so pay attention. Semantic differences bt/w some concepts can be tricky. Textbook supplemental, included w/ course. Sometimes he brings his dog, Pluto (dachshund/poodle mix, SO CUTE). 2 quizzes, 2 exams, no EC
Each test is 25% (there's 3) and lab is 25%. Lab is easy-do the work and you will get full points. The tests are all 30 MCQ. I did not do any of the out of class readings and passed with an A- so don't stress. Go to class and listen to his lectures. I used the TA's test review slides and my notes to make flashcards for the tests. He curves.
Cool as person, he has a dog who he brings to class and tries to make lectures fun. As a teacher, not good in my opinion. Lectures are mostly useless, study hard for every test because it's pretty much your entire grade, if you mess up on one, you probably can't get an A anymore. GO TO SI SESSIONS WITH LAUREN! She saved me for the last 2 exams
He's very mid. Very funny and nice, but his class is hard to succeed at. There is absolutely no practice problems. You must come to the lectures because the smallest example will be on the test. The SI was amazing, but your class's success shouldn't be dependent on an SI. A lot of work needed to prepare for exams. Just be prepared for this.
Eric is a fun teacher, however his tests can be pretty hard (mc). Lectures are mandatory but are recommended to succeed. SI sessions are very helpful and well help achieve better grades. Gives extra credit for participating in lab studies (easy/simple), tests are curved
Warning you in advance… PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Eric's an odd guy but he does mean well. However, your grade is based off four things. Three in-person exams (25% each) with lockdown browser and no notes. The other is an easy lab (25%). He offers extra credit which you will need if you get stuck taking this class, so take advantage of it.
Eric does tend to ramble on a lot. Highly recommend that you go to lectures because he teaches more than there is on the slides. Don't buy textbook no matter what the bookstore says, he gives free and entirely different copy to read. Tests are only multiple choice but is decently difficult, you will need to know the material decently well for tests
Honestly, Lundquist is a good guy you can tell he is passionate. However, I don't like how he teaches I felt like I just couldn't sit in lecture and focus cuz of how he lectures. Graded by a few things, had to lock in hard for the final to pass with a C. Do all the extra credit it helps!
He talks too much and goes off topic really fast. I suggest not even going to lecture and study on your own. Eric is really nice and his dog is really cute. The test aren't too bad but you do have to study an advance
Eric is an absolute riot! His lectures are always entertaining, and he is knowledgable about a wide range of topics. If you talk to him once, he will remember your name -- I would take every class with him if UConn would allow it. Do the readings and go to class; he does not try to trick you with exams.
Funny guy who jokes around a lot. He likes to go off-topic with each point but wraps it up at the end. Attendance is not mandatory and he will post the content for each exam near the end. Consists of 2 exams and a final (not cumulative). Attend the SI; they'll go over the content in a better way. They have practice exams with the key given to you
BEST PROFESSOR!
Don't bother going to lecture. He doesn't talk about anything useful. Use the SI slides to study for his exams
Dont go to class. Use SI slides to study. Extra credit from research studies helps. Only 3 exams and no homework. Dont have to go to lab either.
He is a funny professor, he takes time to make sure you're passing his class. I love his grading aspect it was great. Helped me pass the class. The LAB was very easy and if your passing the lab you will pass the class
His lectures don't always make sense and you really have to listen to him to understand what he is saying. Go to SI that definitely helped me a lot. Psychology is not just about memorizing but also conceptualizing the material. There is also only 3 exams no hw. There is extra credit tho. Lock in.
I enjoy Eric's way of teaching, he seems like a fun person to talk to. But, the way he runs his lectures honestly confuse me. The way he rambles on about something not related to the class makes you question what you actually need to know. I didn't do the best on any of the exams, but luckily there was extra credit.
Eric is so FUN. I loved chatting with him outside of class and inside his lectures are hilarious and relatable, which I think makes it easier to remember. You're only really graded on the exams, but you have the easy lab and easy extra credit to cushion it. He may ramble a little but he's clearly passionate and it's fun to listen to. Take him!!!
Personality was amazing, very funny guy. Teaching ability, AWFUL. He struggles to stay on track and thoroughly explain concepts. He gets distracted A LOT and spends most of his lecture talking about "fun facts" and personal things he finds interesting instead of the topic he's teaching. Had to teach myself the entire semester through the textbook.
Professor Lundquist is very humorous and makes lectures very entertaining, but also informative for learning the course content. The exams aren't horrible, but can be difficult with the formatting of questions/very in-depth knowledge. SI review sessions are very helpful -- only downside is that TA Lauren doesn't read emails...
eric is a great and super funny guy but not the best at lectures. he is very passionate about psych so he rambles so so much. if you want to pass go to the SI sessions and use the slides to study, i stopped going to lecture and only used them and did fine. the content is super interesting, but i basically taught everything to myself.
Eric is a very fun and engaging lecturer. I attended all his lectures, actively listened, and only ever reviewed the material the night before the exam. Never got below an A- on a test. I think the key to doing well in his class is attending the lectures and definitely go to SI if you feel lost.
Only 3 tests + lab make up your grade. Tests weren't too bad if you could pay attention in lecture but he rambles so it can be hard. SI review sessions before exams really helped. Some extra credit available. Overall not bad, just all over the place
I LOVED THIS CLASS. Look if you're someone who gets easily distracted, don't take it. However, his really random examples actually help you remember things, GO TO THE LECTURE. I never missed his class and I did very well on exams. Lauren's SI slides helped so much with studying and thats all you ever needed to study but he does give u a study guide
Good guy, rambles a lot in lecture and hard to follow. Easier to read the slides and go to SI (or get those slides from someone). Tests aren't terribly difficult, and he gives extra credit for participating in experiments. A bit more of a teach yourself class, but not too hard.
Great professor. He likes to ramble, but he definitely really cares about the class and his students. Attendance isn't mandatory, but almost every exam question is directly answered in lecture, so definitely go. Tests aren't too hard if you go to lecture, but they're each worth 25% of grade so definitely prepare well.
Great guy but not the best at teaching to his tests. Definitely go to lectures AND SI. The SI slides are super helpful for the tests. Tests aren't bad if you study based on those slides. Lab is super easy. Sometimes he brings his dog lol
Eric is such a funny, kind person and his lectures are super engaging. He teaches basic topics, that you might have already learned in HS, in a way that makes them interesting. His "off topic rants" actually add a lot to the lecture and, if you're confused, he is super approachable. Also, the tests are very easy - everything comes from lecture.
He rambles way too much to the point the material gets hard to follow. He provides 4-5 slides and it's better to teach yourself and attend SI sessions. I wouldn't take him again.
Don't take him if you want to remain sane. Talks in circles, doesn't explain content well, extremely unorganized study guides and syllabus, no other grades so tests weigh heavy. The way he does tests makes no sense either and he talks while you're trying to concentrate. He tries hard to be funny but wish he'd just focus on teaching instead.
Dr. Lundquist is an engaging lecturer and makes the class interesting. He would also sometimes bring his dog into lecture for demonstrations (or just because). The exams were very easy, and part of your grade is based on whether you volunteered for research studies, which was an easy grade boost.
So I went into his class thinking that Eric was a good professor, but as the classes went by, I realized that he barely goes over stuff on the exams and goes on SO MANY tangents. I was really confused come the first exam. BUT, the supplemental instruction is my best friend, and it helps you understand the class WAY better.
Eric is a good guy who is passionate about psychology, but not the best professor. Bro could spend one lecture going over 2 slides that could be explained in 5 minutes, so it can be hard to follow. Grade is 3 exams + lab, but he curves exams and gives extra credit for participating in research. Go to SI exam review for studying and you'll be fine.
Exams were somewhat hard and you need to study. His lectures are impossible to follow, I would go to SI which was very helpful.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Eric is the worst. His lectures are actually impossible to follow, and he thinks he's so funny (he's not funny). His test makes no sense, and you have to teach yourself the entire unit, too. He will literally have the same slide up for the entire class and just yap about anything but the topic presented on the slides.
Slides are not very organized and he tends to ramble and go off topic a lot. His tests are also more application based they are not very intuitive, but he is a very nice and caring guy.
Prof Lundquist means so well. He is funny + engaging. However, his class is the bane of my existence. He will stay on a slide with 15 words on it ALL class. Rambles so much you have to teach yourself, then crams material at the end of the sem. If you took AP psych you will do fine. But my friends who didn't couldn't have done it without SI.
I think some people judge Eric too hard- super nice guy, likes to entertain his students, but rambles at times. Although there are lots of stories, there are slides (text heavy) that I believe he posts as well. Tests weren't terrible if you actually study and there is also extra credit. The lab section of this class is the easiest thing ever.
Robert Rescorla and Ivan Pavlov engage in a epic rap battle 10/10 professor
will go over 2 slides the entire lecture. class is based off 3 exams and a lab grade. lab is really easy but the exams are hard and not just memorization of vocab. recommend going to SI rather than going to class
Eric Lundquist is the hardest professor I have ever had and I was miserable in his class. The only grades he puts in are just tests and those make up your whole grade. I would never take his class again. His tests are very hard and during his lectures he goes off topic.
Lectures are awful, only grade in class is 3 tests. Goes on random rants during lectures and is bad at explaining content. Would not take with this presser!
Pros: Super nice, funny, approachable, passionate, brings his dog into class sometimes, has lots of resources. Cons: Rambles every class, posts study guide at last minute (same w/ slides), disorganized, exams are very difficult (he curves them but it still doesn't help). Go to SI, do well in lab, and you'll be okay for exams. AP Psych helped too.
Only grades you on 3 tests, goes off topic, does not respond to emails.
Go to SI sessions every week, pretty much a summary of both hour long lectures in a 45 min block. He loves to ramble about, who even knows. Ur grade is 3 exams and the lab section, isnt too bad if your a good student, but man the lectures are so boring.
Honestly a sweet man, but he rambles a lot, and only grades exams. His exams are 30 questions. you wont learn much in class. SI session barley help. don't take w him
Hilarious but with only 3 exams and a lab to make up your grade, the course was very punishing. SI sessions are a good supplement. His exam questions are not memory based they are synthesis based, so you have to utilize your learning to answer questions. Change your study habits accordingly.
One of the best prof I had this year. I disagree that he rambles, I think he try his best to explain concepts and be engaging in his lecture. The SI session does not really help, just try to get the slide from the session and look through it on your own.
I respectfully do not understand why everyone is saying, "he's a nice guy/he's a funny guy". I don't think that redeems him in any way. However, he grades you off 2 tests and 2 quizzes. Be prepared to study everything and know absolutely nothing come test time. The wording on questions make you think you're taking an English test rather than psych
I guess if you're a fan of seeing a dog in class once in a blue moon and you think nerdy humor is the funniest thing ever than take his class. Other than that, if you actually wanna learn something, PLEASE take another class or join his posse of 5 students who sit in front everyday and entertain his antics. 4.5 when I took the class 3.6 now hmm...
I would avoid taking another class by him, he talks the entirety of the class period (mostly about random things) and does not answer questions. People think he's funny, but it comes off as very passive-aggressive. Also, if you have any medical conditions, he will not work with you on rescheduling exams because he does not respond to any emails.
there's just tests, thats the only thing that determines your grades
I don't recommend taking Eric for Psych. I've tried to email him multiple times about assignments and he never got back to me. His lecture can feel really long and he tends to talk about one slide for half of the time. The only grades that are being put in are 3 exams and a lab. The exams can be really hard, SI sessions sometimes helps but not rlly
didn't really go to class and when I did it was torture. your only grades are on exams that are worded nothing like how he teaches/the information we are supposed to be "learning". he reads half a slide per lecture and he mostly rambles. does not answer emails. go to SI or get the SI slides/quizlets!
I took AP Psych in high school, and I feel like that helped me way more than his lectures. If you skip lecture a lot, you'll definitely be confused. He rambles a lot which makes it very hard to pay attention to the actual class material he's saying and he only reviews like 2-3 slides per class. Go to SI, it helped me more than anything.
Eric is nice BUT loves to talk. Lectures can be hard to sit through since slides have limited info, so you're mostly listening. No lecture homework, only lab homework. Your grade comes from lab assignments and 3 exams. Exams are worded complexly, but using tools like Google Gemini for practice questions can help for making practice questions
Lundquist is not a great lecturer but he truly is a super nice and funny person. Exams are very difficult and usually weighted like CRAZY because most of the class struggles. I recommend going to SI instead of lectures because that's where I actually felt like I learned any content. Extremely great person though sucks that lectures arent that great
gets off topic 90% of class. exams are 75% of your grade; 25% is lab, which is easy but not worth to take with him because his exams are hard and go way deeper than the amount he goes in depth. i did better in ap psychology and my exam than i did this class. ive heard that other 1100 professors are easier than Lundquist. don't take him if possible.
Grade is determined by 3 exams and lab grade (25% each). Attendance is not mandatory but 99% of information you need to know is spoken in class. Goes off topic very easily. Definitely use SI slides, as that was my biggest resource. If you know some things about psychology, this class shouldn't be hard.
This review is heavily based on him as a professor and not as a person. He is a funny guy and really cares about his students. However, his way of teaching is hard to comprehend from most I've talked to. It is very hard to absorb information properly from his lectures, and it's very confusing. Go to SI, the topics make much more sense there.
he is a funny prof but doesn't know how to teach, but if you are takin 1100 its ok because the supplemental instructor is great and the exams are alright, I love the SI down. So plz attend SI if you want an A. Lab is easy but kinda tedious
Eric, as a guy, is great! He really is. And I wish all the best for him. But he is a terrible professor. The lectures are long and often do not cover the material that is essential for the exam. You could exclusively go to the supplemental sessions and probably be okay. Again, great human, and it hurts to say it, but really, I would avoid him.
interesting lectures, but tests on "verbal" material, doesnt put it on the slides. So either be prepared to take notes, or go to review sessions. I found the Supplemental Instruction must more useful than lecture. Theres extra credit opportunities and the exams were easy if u studied the terms a lil. super fun lectures even brought his dog!
It is a little ironic that the professor for a course called learning is so bad at teaching. Rambles incessantly and goes through material at an astronomically slow pace, while still failing to actually explain the concept properly. Graded solely on exams with study guides that are just a series of links. Nice person, terrible professor
Amazing person but don't bother with lecture just do SI content. After 3 weeks of him lecturing he told us none of that info was gonna be exam material anyway (great waste of time).Focus on the SI slides and teach ur self instead. Also insane curves bc so many ppl fail (sent an email out mid semester abt how to withdraw from the course…)
Listen here and listen well. If you don't go to lecture, you're cooked. TAKE GOOD LECTURE NOTES. You're gonna study from your lecture notes, the examples he uses in lecture, and the slides he posts. He also posts these really detailed and helpful study guides for each test. There is a textbook- Don't use it, you don't need it. I like his lectures.
Very funny guy, just not great at lecturing. The only assignments for the course were our exams and like four homework assignments. A lot of the stuff he talks about in lecture has absolutely nothing to do with the stuff we need to learn. SI sessions were more useful than the actual classes.
If you really pay attention to his lectures they are EXTREMELY helpful, and all of his examples are either used on exams or directly correlate to the content, you just have to really stick with him. The SI sessions are great for reinforcement, but seriously just go to lecture and actually listen. He's pretty funny and really cares about the class.
Pay attention in lecture!! He is funny and gives good examples that he uses on the exams. Just go over the study guide and you will be fine. He also brings his cute dog in most classes which is a plus
He is a very nice person and he definitely is willing to help, I do agree that he could be more clear during lectures and he rants a ton, but I personally had no problems with that. Overall, his class was not the easiest, but an A is very much attenable if you simply study and ask him to clarify concepts you may be struggling with.
