He expects you to write A LOT for his forum discussions and journal entries. You won't get a high grade on the assignments unless you write a lot. He's also really big on grammar, so be sure you check your work accordingly. I was actually surprised I got a 4.0 as I didn't do well on the weekly assignments. I did do very well on the essays though.

Eric Nelson is so tough on grading, and hardly gives feedback on where to improve. He does offer a different things to raise your grade, but you MUST be perfect with the assignment, even though he did not tell you where you need to improve. There are quizzes every 2 weeks, 100+ points each. You learn a lot in this class, but you HAVE to work for it

Very disorganized. Unhelpful when I tried to get in contact with him. Doesn't leave feedback for why you are graded the way that you are, especially for tests (didn't bother to mention specific test grade criteria until the quarter was almost through). Gives you "opportunities to get your grade up" but they aren't worth enough to make a difference.

Unclear expectations, grades displayed don't add up to the overall grade. Low grade if your life is boring. Assignments buried all over the nooks and crannies of Canvas, they also pop up as the quarter passes so you can't properly plan your schedule or read ahead, esp bad for an online class as scheduling is a prime reason for choosing online.
