Good class to take for credit. Northway really knows the information and enjoys teaching. Hardest part of the class was just getting the papers done.

He is an awesome professor with a lot of voice. Very enthusiastic about the subject matter. Assignments are gimme points. Tests are rather simple.

Definitely enjoys the subject he's teaching, and knows A LOT about it. The journal he assigned was a bit of a pain, but the easiness of his tests and lack of quizzes made up for it. Lectures could get quite long and note-taking very ardous.

He is very passionate and knowledgeable. Homework is not difficult, just reading and journals. He makes class interesting and you learn so much from his style of teaching. Even if you don't have an interest in the subject his ability to teach allows you to learn in a great atmosphere.

Lectures are interesting and class is very little work. Unfortunately you don't learn more than the very basics - I'm sure he'd be a great prof for a more in-depth course.

This guy is the must take professor if your interested in taking any religion classes at all. It's a very do-able class and very interesting because this professor is one of the best I've run into and he just a great guy to be around. If you can get into any of his classes, take them and you won't regret it.

this guy is amazing. the class is easy and interesting. there are 4 pop quizes the whole semester and they arent really a pop quiz because he usually tells you when they are. the tests are really easy, everything on them he gives you a study guide. Not only that he is just a really good teacher all around and relates well to students

Great professor!!

This guy is great at lecturing, but gives you loads of corse work. A 10 page paper and 2, 1 page journal entries each WEEK. Not only that he wants you to deeply analyze your thoughts on things in your journal. Gimme a break i just need to fill diversity requirments and you giving me all this to do in a 200 level course? take it if you like writing.

Eric is Superman!! This guy is one of the best lecturers I've ever had!! Very objective, and says things like they are. Just go to lecture, and you'll be just fine. I've had more fun in this class in one week than I've had for other classes in a semester.

He is a really good teacher who make class interesting most of the time. Grade is based mainly off two test and that is about it.

GREAT Professor. I took 205 and 210 from him and loved them both. Wonderful personality; loves to have fun and joke around. Classes are fairly easy but you still learn a lot. he truly loves what he does. You do need to study for the tests, but he will give you a study sheet to use which makes it pretty easy. Take classes from him if you can!

I took 205 from him, and it was a relatively easy class. A weekly journal is required, but it isn't that hard. Tests are fairly easy. He gives you a good study guide, and it is mostly terms and basic facts. He doesn't put in any trick questions. I think the average was 85%. The group project over the Matrix was a little difficult but not bad.

Northway's lectures are very interesting. He explains everything very well and keeps my attention.

This guy is amazing. His lectures and power points are very easy to understand. His tests are Identification and Essay, and fairly easy if you attend class. I hope I can get him a for a few more classes.

I love this class! I just took it to fulfill my IP requirement, but ended up loving it. Northway loves what he's doing, is well-informed, hilarious, and employs an "either you know it or you don't" philosophy for his classes. One of my favorite professors from ISU! pretty good looking :)

He's the coolest professor I've ever seen. I love the strategy he uses in his teaching: if you know it, you know it. He's also interesting to listen to even though he uses ppts the whole class which usually gets boring but for him he does a great job engaging students. I loved this class!

Take this class. Northway is excellent, interesting, and has no tricks on tests. Every teacher would benefit from sitting in this class for a lecture.

Northway is spectacular; his lectures are easy to follow and he has a way of explaining things the way everyone can understand it. I'm a relig major but this is an intro level class so there's a lot of kids taking it for a diversity requirement and they enjoy it as much as I do. TAKE HIS CLASS.

Great lecturer, very enthusiastic. Loves answering questions and is very good at engaging wannabe philosophers. Quizzes are very easy and straight from the text. Exams are not easy, you will definitely have to study/read assigned materials. Offered EC which was great. An A is very attainable with not too much work.

This guy is awesome. He is always helpful, example a quiz was due a 12 PM and most people assumed it was 12 AM so he gave everyone a 3 day extension. Just one of the small things hes done for not just me but the whole class. Hes really funny and just someone you would want to sit down and drink a beer with. He is one of the best professors at ISU. I've been here for 4 years and this was one of the few classes that I enjoyed going to and I learned a lot despite having no prior interest in this (I just needed an international perspective class). The class is taught from a neutral lens. I think that he's one of the coolest people ever. Take this class!

Eric is a very interesting person. I feel that he explains things very clearly and even if the topic was confusing, he explained it very well. Great at answering questions, fun sense of humor. Class was easy if you went to it, but not mandatory. A few online quizzes and in class tests, very easy. Journals are easiest when done along w/ the weeks.

He is an amazing teacher,a more than fair grader, and an awesome dude. He is extremely clear and will tell you what you really need to know. His exam prep is extremely relevant to the tests. If you put forth a little effort in this class you will do very well.

Just great and the fairest professor you'll have in college. He lets you know what he expects right away. You'll be surprised how much you learn, because listening to him in lecture isn't punishment like typical professors.

Go to class and listen. It is a lot of fun. You will learn a bunch too. He is a little impatient with student excuses, but you know what is required form the begining of class, so just do what he asks and it is pretty easy. This guy is very chill. His assignments and online quizzes are pretty easy if you just skim the book. If you do the study guides for his Tests, easy A. One project about the matrix, and you watch the whole movie.

Dr. Northway really knows a lot about religion. He made the class easy but I learned a lot from the class. Northway is a GREAT professor. I was not interested in religion prior to coming to class, and he made it so interesting! He speaks clearly and gives you time for notes, so it's very easy to follow along in class. Know the vocab on the study guides, and you'll do great on the tests. Expectations are clear. Flat out one of the best courses I took in my 4 years. Northway is an amazing teacher. He explains everything in a very down to earth (using mostly movies like the Matrix) way. He was easy to talk to and a great professor with a love to teach.

While lecture attendance is by no means mandatory, everything is online, it's worth it to attend class. He genuinely cares about his students and wants to know their opinions on things. He never gets boring and teaches the material almost like a story.

You won't find another professor better than Eric Northway. He is very passionate about world religions and it shows in his classes. He keeps lectures interesting with personal stories and a very upbeat attitude. He is very helpful and approachable if you are struggling. By far the best professor I have ever had.

He's a super chill, laid-back guy. The exams are easy as long as you fill out the study guides. We had to write about 8 journals throughout the semester, but he grades them pretty easily as long as you put some thought into them. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the lectures are kinda helpful for journal ideas and some of the ppt notes are blank.

Eric is an amazing teacher. Do the study guide and you will easily finish his tests/final in 30 minutes tops. Don't write all his notes. Just fill in the blanks he provides. Complete notes will make this class very easy. His quizzes are just his notes. Check your answers because some words look similar. Don't lose easy points. There aren't many.

Great professor.

Eric Northway is easily my favorite teacher so far at Iowa State. He is super friendly and easygoing. The class itself is not difficult if you copy down the slides and study for the exams. He also tells you exactly what he's testing you on so it shouldn't be too difficult. You'll need the book for the online quizzes.

Mr. Northway was one of the best instructors I have had in Iowa State. The quizzes were from the book and it was easy, and we had three non comprehensive exams from the lectures' notes including the final.

Religion 210, super easy class even though the material is a bit dull. However, Eric is a very good story teller and keeps you engaged. Great class to knock out a Gen Ed with.

You can tell Northway really cares about world religions. His lectures are consistently interesting, even though it may not be necessary to attend every day. As long as you check out his PowerPoints he posts online each chapter you will pass.

He provides the PowerPoints from lectures but they are very basic with little to no specific info compared to his lectures. I would suggest showing up often and taking some notes from the lectures themselves, youll miss important details. Hes a cool dude whos very intelligent and easy to listen to.

Dr. Northway was an AMAZING teacher. Although I wasn't interested in the class material, he made lectures extremely interesting. He was very laid back with class and often cancelled class or removed tests when our other coursework got heavy. He was one of my favorite professors and my heart absolutely broke when I heard of his passing. Rest easy.
