Very fun teacher.
Loved him! SO nice.. so helpful.. midterm is easy. He is a fair grader and a great guy. LOVE HIM!! NO complaints!
Very nice and fun teacher. Kinda weird looking but super nice and easy!
english classes aren't generally exciting and upbeat, but mr. parker at least made our time worthwhile. he is very helpful and actually cares about who he teaches and what he teaches. his has corny jokes, but you tend to laugh anyway. overall, caring teacher and highly recommendable.
Mr. Parker is amazing. I would highly recommend him. He's my favorite teacher after years in college. He makes the subject fun and easily understandable for students.
I personally did not care for Mr. Parker. Yes he was very upbeat and entertaining BUT for an actual English major I found the class to be lacking.
Mr. Parker is the best. He made the transition from High School to college English easy for me. Anytime I needed him to proof my papers before I submitted them he always made himself available to meet with me. I am so looking forward to taking 102 with him in the spring of 2012. I highly recommend him. He is awesome!
Mr. Parker was great. He was a lot of fun and I learned a great deal. I left more interested in English and would recommend his course to anyone.
He was very helpful and cared about his students. He takes up most of his classes making you workshop which sucks, but overall I enjoyed his class.
Mr. Parker's class was easy, but was an extreme waste of time. If you want to space out and get easy grades he's for you. If you actually want to learn something, look elsewhere. He definitely has his favorites too.
Awesome class even though there was a lot of group work. Mr. Parker is totally adorable so that helps of course.
Ok class. I'd recommend him if you don't mind having attendance being taken.
Good class. I would tell others to take this instructor. English at the 100 level is pretty basic anyway.
Mr. Parker definately follows the rules he lays out so you have to pay attention to tardiness, etc. You will spend a lot of time talking and working in groups, but he seems to care about his students and tht makes his class worth it.
Great teacher. take his class.
Mr. Parker focuses a lot on pairing his stronger writers with those who haven't had as much experience, which really benefits both parties. He is upbeat, entertaining, and funny which makes class really fun. TRACK YOUR ATTENDANCE.
BEST ENGLISH TEACHER BY FAR. Eric Parker is so helpful and makes class very interesting for those who hate English Literature. It also helps that he's cute and hilarious. If you have a chance to take one of his classes, I really advise you do. It's not difficult at all to get an A.
Great Teacher. He is very helpful and will spend extra time with you if you need it. All you have to do is show that yo are trying and he will help as much as he can.
Great teacher. Awesome guy. Fun class. I really learned a lot and it stuck. Wasn't one of those classes that I remember nothing about
Easy A and great class overall!
Good teacher, I would definitely recommend him, he is funny and helps keep you awake in such a boring class.
One of my favorite teachers in college. He knows what it is like to be a student and will work with anyone who wants to due better. Very reasonable. Class is mandatory but class is very fun. Take him if you can.
Mr. Parker is a great teacher! I would recommend him to anyone taking a lit class. Easy A, One essay, and easy quizzes that I did well on by just skimming through the material. Attendance is required, but he makes class interesting so it isn't bad. He cares about his students and gets to know them personally.
Very good teacher! Watched comedian video in first couple classes and easy personal essays! Will help if anyone asks and is very laid back.
Mr. Parker is an awesome English teacher. I usually have a particular disdain for English classes, but I found this class interesting, engaging, and useful. He is very friendly and helpful, and genuinely cares for his students.
Great teacher! Must take for American lit. Keeps classes interesting and only requires one paper. A lot of reading is assigned but it is fairly easy to keep up with. Always available for help before or after class, and genuinely wants his students to do well.
Mr. Parker is my favorite professor at the university, and this coming form a guy who doesn't like English. Mr. Parker loves discussing literature and makes class discussion the focal point of each class. Just participate at least once per class period and you'll do fine. Easy multiple choice midterm and final w one paper.
Best teacher I had my first semester of college! He loves to make Englsih fun and accessible for everyone. There are a lot of essays to read and papers, but if you come to class and participate at least once you'll do fine! Always willing to help and he sends out at least 6 extra credit opportunities per week. Definitely taking him again!
Eric Parker is the best English teacher ever. I highly recommend him to anyone that's an upcoming freshman. He teaches well and helps you improve in your grammar, writing, and reading skills.
Eric Parker is very nice and helpful. I had him for English 101. You need to do a couple short readings each week. There are no tests but a few short and easy quizzes. The main focus is on papers and they are pretty easy. He grades fairly easily but you need to try.
Captain Parker is one of my favorite teachers of all time. He not only inspires you to want to learn, but to live a fuller life. There are quizzes and reading responses that require you to actually do the assigned reading, and don't just read spark notes his quizzes kill you if you do. Otherwise a super easy and fun class!
Mr. Parker is great! He keeps you engaged in the lecture and is more than willing to help you out as long as you're willing to help yourself (looking at you if you're thinking about slacking.) Don't slack it gets to the point where you respect him enough that you don't want him to see poorly of you. (Also in the textbook category those are novels)
My favorite professor at UA. He's always willing to help work on papers or give help on any info that he can. He gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit to give 2 extra quiz grades. I enjoyed all of the readings assigned and this was an easy A course.
Coolest teacher I've ever had, he taught the first English class I have ever enjoyed. He also inspired me to be a better student and person.
Mr. Parker has been my favorite instructor at UA. His class was easy if you attempted everything and participated in class at least a little bit. He's very understanding and passionate about what he does. If you're an English major you might want to take one of the harder sections because he doesn't push you as much as you might want. Go to class.
Eric Parker will teach you how to write a good college paper. I've never been an English fan but I genuinely looked forward to his class and learned a lot.
Mr. Parker was a great teacher, there are a few quizes that may be tough but are only like 6 points. He gives a great lecture and helps to improve writing. Doesn't assign much, and is an easy grader. I would definetly take him again. Totally recommend.
Mr. Parker was an excellent teacher and very helpful through out the semester, even during school breaks! There are required writings every week but they are short, and there is only one paper throughout the entire paper as well. If you come to class and actually participate then you are more than likely guaranteed to pass.
Captain Parker is a pretty cool dude. There's reading every week, along with some responses and or quizzes along with it depending on the schedule. There's also a participation grade but he's lax on that so don't worry too much about it. Grades are consisted of one term paper, two tests, and daily points so go to class. Just read and you'll be fine
Mr. Parker is a super chill teacher, he tries to keep the class as interesting as possible. There are weekly readings and about 4-5 essays that he assigns but he gives a lot of time for each one and with some of them he'll read over your rough draft too and give good feedback. You can tell he cares a lot about his students as well
He is a really good teacher! There is a ton of reading, and there are 8 easy pop quizzes throughout the semester so make sure to read. Although we have a 250 word paper to do every week, they aren't bad and if you did the reading, they are easy. We only have one major essay and a midterm and final. He is funny and makes the class enjoyable!
Eric is a great guy. If you skip class you won't pass and he really uses the textbooks. He is accessible outside of his office hours and is always wiling to help out his students. I highly recommend taking him if you can.
Just okay. Certainly not an easy A but no need to stress over this class. His expectations are relatively clear. Pop quizzes once a week from the readings and only a midterm and a final exam.
Parker is a great professor. He was super chill and I really liked his class. It's a lot of close readings but as long as you do the work and participate you'll get a good grade. Would definitely take him if you need a Literature credit. He rocks!
Professor Parker was as great teacher and really made an effort to engage with students in this course. His midterm and final were very doable if you studied, and he lays out all the material that is fair game and sticks to it. Would highly recommend, be prepared to read plenty, as it IS a literature course.
Eric Parker is definitely one of my favorite professors. Although he expects you to do the readings, his assignments are not hard if you put forth even a small amount of effort, and he is fairly lenient on grading from my experience. Very cool dude with interesting outlooks on life, wish him the best.
Captain Parker is a super nice guy, and a great professor. Just be sure to participate semi-frequently in class and there won't be anything to worry about.
Extremely nice guy, pretty lenient grader, would recommend.
Eric Parker is by far one of the best professors out there. He cares about his students and not just for the grade. He makes the class interesting and engaging the whole time. I would 100% recommend.
There's nothing not to like about Captain Parker! His upbeat and enthusiastic personality keeps all the lectures interesting. If you do the readings (it is a literature class), participate (he'll never judge you for sharing your thoughts), focus during lectures, and put effort into the reaction papers, the class is very interesting and worthwhile.
Prof Parker is a great guy. I took this class to get my english over with. I am an engineering major and I hate english and he made the class enjoyable. I would highly recommend.
Business major, took this class to get my english credits done. He's a great guy and is very open to all beliefs. There are 4-5 essays for 103, they're pretty easy and he will give extensions if you truly need one. No quizzes on reading. Gives great feedback on essays and you have to go to class, but it stays entertaining the whole semester.
Eric Parker was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and that he will do whatever it takes to help his students pass. The books he chooses for you to read are actually interesting and very helpful in life. There wasn't too many assignments and I never felt stressed. 10/10 would take again
He is actually one of the nicest professors I have had at UA. He shows that he actually cares about students and how they're feeling. Creative writing class he teaches is very easy and he is very upbeat. He shares some of his own writings which is nice to hear because you can tell he actually likes his job and what he does. definitely recommend!!
He does a good job of making sure the class is very engaging and makes it interesting, which can sometimes be difficult with English classes. Very interesting lectures and did not give assignments that felt like busy work; he wants everything to have some sort of benefit for the student.
Eric Parker is one of the best professors I've ever had. He really cares for his students and always does everything he can to make class fun. He defines requirements clearly, and as long as he sees you are trying, you should get an A.
Professor Eric is the best! He's so kind and genuine and a pretty easy grader with lots of extra credit opportunities. I always went to class although it wasn't always mandatory. I would very highly recommend him; he's very enthusiastic about his job and seriously a great professor.
I absolutely love Professor Parker! This class helped me learn a lot about creative writing and develop my portfolio. The class is based on discussions of the readings, but the readings are always interesting. Professor Parker is so kind and easy to talk to and he gives great feedback on any work! I would recommend him for any class at UA!!
Great class! Read 3 books based on philosophy and happiness very good reads. 3-4 papers but easy to write. Only homework is reading. Takes participation points as a sort of attendance grade. Really interesting guy with lots of good stories and lessons! Class is pretty easy and relaxed I 100% recommend.
Professor Parker is AMAZING! The workload is super light, only have to do 5 papers in the semester and he gives you plenty of time to do them. You have to read a few chapters for each class but you are not tested on it, only expected to participate in the class discussion. He's super nice and actually cares about his students and their wellbeing.
Professor Parker was very nice and always willing to answer questions. You have to complete a few different types of papers over the course of the semester. As long as you follow the guidelines for each one you should be fine. Lastly, make sure to show up and participate in the reading discussions so you don't lose points in that category.
Eric Parker is so understanding! Tbh you dont really need the text books because he only discusses the reading in class. Fill up your notebook with notes and creative writing and you can make an easy A. Attendance in mandatory and if u miss more than 4 times your grade decreases a letter down. Eric is so sweet and really caringTAKE HIM FOR EASY A.
Professor Parker was amazing! He was personable and willing to work with students to make sure they are successful while making class fun. There were 5 essays spread out through the semester with clear criteria and an example. You need the books and he looks for participation when discussing the chapters. I enjoyed learning about happiness topics.
Capt. Parker is an amazing teacher who genuinely cares. Success in class relies almost entirely on whether or not you do the readings. Sometimes the readings are long, and more often than not they are kind of boring. But that's not his fault, that just how old works of literature are. Grind it out or listen to audiobooks and you will make an A.
Captain Parker is the best English professor, he genuinely cares about his students and wants us to do well. He was always willing to help outside of class, and keeps us engaged through discussions. If you clearly put in effort, your grade will reflect it. He is very friendly and class was fun, making us look forward to going to class every time.
I love this man. He was the most caring professor I have ever had at UA. He was always willing to help with assignments outside of class and gave very helpful feedback. He is funny, and wants the best for all of his students.
I love Professor Parker! He is very understanding and reasonable with assignments and workload. He was always willing to help with assignments outside of class. I would 100% take this class again. His class is also interesting and engaging! I was so sad on the last day of class.
I absolutely LOVED his class! As long as you do the readings, you will succeed. Each week, there were response papers or "pop" quizzes, but he almost always told us about the quizzes. He exempted us from the final if we were happy with our current grade! He is such a kind man, and you can really tell he cares about literature and his students!
Absolutely loved this professor! Has reading quizzes that are bi-weekly, but other, but as long as you read the material, comprehend it, and come to class you'll be fine. Prof. Parker is also so funny and genuinely cares about his students.
Loved captain Parker! Very passionate. Class consisted of one term paper, a midterm and a final, 8 super short quizzes, and quick 250 word writings that you did on 10 different readings. Just go to class and say something about what you read and you will do fine.
This is one o the best professors I've ever had. It's an English class so it is pretty paper-heavy but he is a fair and easy grader. He made the class exciting and really cared about his students. I was out sick for 2 weeks with Covid and he made sure I got all my materials and extended deadlines for me. He was funny and made the class enjoyable.
I had a really, really rough time my first semester in college. I was being diagnosed with new health problems left and right and having a really hard time settling in on my own. Captain Parker was incredibly understanding through everything. He felt more like a friend than a professor, though that's not to say I didn't learn anything. Fantastic.
Easiest class of my semester. Actually could connect with people in class. Not really much work except journal and literary events. Parker explains everything simply and grades fast. Takes the time to learn your name and actually know his students. He is the Lin Manuel Miranda of English! Would 1000% recommend taking for an easy A!
Professor Parker is great. You need to read & participate if you want to do well, but he's understanding & tends to be an easy grader. When we had to write essays, they weren't too hard and he always left good feedback. He's very passionate & interesting, so class never felt like a burden. If you have the chance, you should take a class with him.
I adored him and was honestly sad to leave his class at the end. No final was required and he grades fast and fairly. He has a huge personality that made the class fun. He also made me feel comfortable writing very personal things because he shared his own writing that was similar. He made me feel seen and understood. I really respect him, take it!
I took Mr. Parker as a freshmen and he was great! His class is beyond just a normal English class. We had such great talks about controlling emotions, parenting, culture. He truly listened to what we had to say and applied it to whatever book we were reading. He is genuinely emphatic, fun, understanding. Not a lot of professors like him at UA!
Phenomenal professor. I was expecting a regular boring English class, and received wonderful learning experiences that went above and beyond all expectations!
Mr. Parker enjoys teaching his class, he comes with a positive attitude and hopes you do too. He has a no cellphone policy. The lectures are engaging as long as you do the reading. Essay assignments are a breeze and very forgiving on grades. As long as you're cool, he's cool.
Super easy course, all you have to do for an A is show up and do the writing assignments! Heavily graded on participation and attendance- any missed classes take off points. He requires everyone to share their writing with the class and has a no cellphone/computer policy. Great lectures and really understanding with any late work!
He's a goofy guy, but cares quite a bit about writing. He will go above and beyond for you in and outside the classroom. Be prepared to hear about his current work, but he ties it in well as an example.
If you don't like reading he isn't the teacher for you. Takes up all class time and participation matters. Easy grader for the most part and is a nice guy and cares about his students.
He was an amazing story teller and was very entertaining from the beginning to the end of having him as a teacher.
You write 4 papers over the semester but he breaks them down very well so it really isn't overbearing. Attendance is mandatory. He will go above and beyond for you and answer any questions you have! He also gives good feedback on your papers. He's really funny and makes class time enjoyable. I really recommend taking this course for your EN credit!
I love Professor Parker! He isn't a tough grader; he will show up for you if you show up for him. There are 4 papers due, they're spread out over the semester, and he genuinely cares for his students.
super nice and great classes very enjoyable lectures
