This is the best math teacher I have ever had in college thus far. As an English major, I don't think that I need math, but I see the importance of it now that I have taken Mr. Philias. He is so warm and funny. His accent is not a problem. I highly recommend him if you aren't so hot at Math, he makes it sooo easy. The tests aren't hard.

I'm gonna try to describe Mr Phillias. He is awesome,funny, friendly,patient,loves what is doing, concerned as a teacher, not that easy. It's class is like a clinic you come sick and you go home happy and feeling better.I recommand this professor.

At first, i was a lil shaky wether or not i should stay in Mr. Philias' class but as i took the chance i then realized, WOW this is a GREAT teacher! He really puts in the effort to teach you not only one way but several others. If a student has a simpler way he would take that into consideration and see what he can do to help the others who dont.

ok I have hated my math teachers for as far as I can remember. But this guy gives math a whole new meaning! GREAT teacher, has a bit of an accent but it no big thing, you can still understand him. Trust me if you struggle with math, take him I guarantee you'll understand! He really cares about his students.

I took MGF1107 with Mr. Philas.That was the first time i understand and see the purpose of doing math. The guy is super cool and explain withease. He has an accent but that did not bother me. Take him you won't regret.

Very easy class! The professor may have a heavy accent but as time goes by you'll understand him. He gives all the material did not use the textbook at all! Study your notes for quizzes & for the tests study the reviews; he gives the exact same exercises! make sure you have a graph calculator, so you'll finish quickly.

Took the class online. As with any online class, you have to be dedicated to learn the material on your own. Professor Philias made himself available to help. I even went to his in-person class for better understanding. I did need some tutoring and You Tube helped me a lot too. I worked hard but I passed the class with an A.

VERY fair teacher. if you do the homework and assignments and DO THE PRACTICE TESTS (!!!) you will pass for sure. Pactice tests are very similar to act tests. I HIGHLY recommend him.

I took this class online, and I was extremely impressed with how well he kept in touch with his students. Although it wasn't necessary, he gave us the courtesy of emailing us before every assignment and quiz was due.

Professor Philias is an amazing professor i took him online during the fall semester 2014, you must do the HW because the hw does count big part of your grade do the discussions as well and there is only to exams make sure to study for the review exam because is exactly like the exam and final exam, there's no need of excuse to fail his class.

Professor Philias is by far one of the best math professors in MDC Homestead Campus. He gives amazing lectures and you leave class comprehending what he taught. He makes math sooo easy to understand. Yes he have a heavy accent but you can still understand him. No midterms or finals. He let you use index cards for your exams. The exams are the exact same problems from the package and he even gives you the answer key and go over everything before exams. He encourage you to come to his office if need help.

Yes his accent is thick. On the first day of class I had trouble understand him, but by the second class its much easier to understand. Expect to be your own instructor (which is normal) if you take it online . The good thing is that he gives you the sections he will go over and then pass a review package before you take the actual exam; make sure you do the review(s). Prof. Philias is the best statistics professor out there! Let me tell you, if you struggle and hate math as much as I do, you will LOVE this professor. He makes everything easy and makes sure everyone understands. If you don't he will constantly repeat himself to make sure you understand. You will not need the textbook only a graphing calculator.

This proffesor really made me love math again! Most professor's over work you & overwhelm you. He's the opposite. Very clear explanations, straight to the point and easy to understand. I took the 6-week summer course and it was nice. I was ahead most of the time but he does take time to make sure every student understands it.

Ive always hated math but taking stats with this professor really changed that! I never thought Id get an A in a math class but hes so clear and cut with his lectures and makes it really easy to understand. Hes great, Id take him again!

Professor Philias, was a great professor. 3-4 Exams that covered topics in class. He gives worksheets that you use throughout the class and was extremely helpful. Also gives study guides for every exam. Highly recommend this professor for Statistics. He made it very easy to understand. Also, gave one homework assignment per exam. so, 4 home works.

Since I took summer A the course was very fast paced and each class was a new lesson. He provided a worksheet packet for "classwork", and was an easy A , the packet helped practice for the test. Weekly projects was homework but literally 5-7 questions. Super easy and math has always been my weak subject and after I'm confident in statistics!

This was an online statistics class. Prepare to teach yourself, participate in discussion boards, and complete about 6 tests. The professor is OK with communication. Tests are weighted the most as part of your grade. Overall if you pace yourself and use the blackboard tutor you should be good to go. He also puts test reviews for each test.

Professor Philias was just a great professor because he was able to break down math in way that you would leave his class and just understand what he tought for that day and his exams are very easy since it is based on what he gives on the packet, but the only bad thing is ALEKS because he gives quizzes on ALEKS and at times it can be hard.

This is a hard class... taking it with this professor made it somewhat manageable, though. You're going to have to work really hard if math isn't something that comes naturally for you. I managed to get a B even though I did pretty poorly on my midterm and final. Put in the time for this class!!

It is true that due to his accent sometimes its a little hard to understand him but besides that is a very understandable professor. The quizzes are not hard if you study.

He was honestly the best professor Ive ever had. I took him for MGF1006 and MGF1107. I was absolutely terrible at math and hated it but he really made me enjoy it. He allowed you to print out his notes and use them for the tests. Hed give you a 10 minute break every class and was always nice and funny. Definitely recommend his class

Professor Philias is a very educational professor, he knows how to uplift and encourage students in this subject. He teaches the topics with clarity and makes sure that we (the students) understood the topic. We had assignments through ConnectMath and a quiz pertaining to that module. He provides you with great study guides (extremely helpful) :)

This professor is amazing! Attending class is key for completing homework and tests. You can miss class and do your homework alone with the online program instructions, but it's tougher. The professor gave us a document in class with equation and word problem instructions, which MANY appeared on the exams. So it's very hard to fail in my opinion.

Very simple course, you can work at your own pace just make sure you keep in mind homework assignments and discussion posts. Proctored midterm and final but he made review quizzes for both making it very easy to pass. Use the videos on Pearson, they are your lectures and will give you all you need to know. Very simple.

Professor Philias was extremely helpful and patient anytime I had a question. He gave plenty of time to do the homework, allowed a retake on one quiz, used Alexis which I loved because it offers plenty of examples. However, to do well in the class, you need self-discipline and to be able to teach yourself somethings and stay on top of your work.

All work was done online through Aleks. The first 15-20 mins of class if him showing you how to do a topic. There are 5 tests in total. Each test is based on the homework you did before the test. He leaves all assignments unlocked the entire semester except the tests. So you can catch up if you miss some homework with no penalty.

Although Philias's accent is super thick and sometimes difficult to understand, his class was very easy and straightforward. Hw on ALEKS, a review before every exam which counted toward the grade, and 4 exams which were easy. Take good notes from his lectures and the stuff on his word documents appear in exams. Do everything I said and you'll pass.

His accent is insanely strong, it's very difficult to understand what he's saying. The grades consists of 4 exams and the 4 practice exams, so only 8 grades total. But if you can retake the practice exams up to 3 times to get a better grade. I'm also pretty sure he rounded all our grades up a letter at the end!

Take the class with him! i took STA 2023 online, one midterm proctered exam, no final; there were like 8 tests non- proctored. Several homeworks all due until the end of the semester, same with discussion boards, managable workload compared to other courses, just do good on the midterm and tests cause they weight a lot on your final grade.
