The class isn't that bad, just don't fall behind.
Difficult to understand & hear in his lectures. Not to lie, his lectures were boring. Bland. But he definitely knows his stuff. Willing to help as well - explains it much better in office hours.
He is extremely helpful during office hours and willing to explain all concepts. His lectures are detailed on the slides and tests can be tricky because of wording, not necessarily the topics being taught.
I think this was the first class he taught, and he definitely has room for improvement. His lectures were very dry and boring, and it was hardly necessary to go to class because all he did was read the powerpoints. He's very quiet, and you can't hear him in the lecture hall. The good news is the test questions are all answered in his powerpoints
His lectures are so hard to hear and quite bland. He appears to be very nervous while he's lecturing, which is distracting. He does not use many examples, making it hard to remember the information. In terms of exams, all of his questions can be found in the powerpoints, so I recommend focusing on the powerpoint slides rather than the textbook.
i did well in this course, and my recommendations are to always attend lecture, SIT IN THE FRONT (otherwise you won't hear him), take notes, and memorize the power points for the exams. don't waste time with the textbook, it is way too dense. go to his office hours and he will help you understand the tricky concepts. study hard an
price is a good professor. sometimes can be boring, but if you sit in the front and take notes you will be fine. for the exams, study the powerpoints and the diagrams and graphs! make sure you understand processes and the order in which they occur... go to his office hours if you need help and you can get an A
Boring lecturer, and talks too fast in class. He does not seem like he wants to be there, but if you know the PowerPoints, you can do well in the class.
Price is quiet when he lectures compared to Dr. Wright, but he's still understandable. He's also helpful during office hours and is very approachable too. As long as you pay attention during lecture (sitting in the front helps) and USE THE STUDY ROOM at Gittings, you'll do fine. Study the powerpoints and you'll do well! The textbook is useful too.
He is a nice guy, but he is a boring lecturer. This class pretty much comes down to knowing the PowerPoints for the lecture exams, lab manual for lab practicals, and going to the study center at Gittings for extra help. If you do all that an A or B is definately possible.
Dr. price teaches the anatomy portion of 201, I like him because of that. I think he can be very broad at times, but go to lectures, sit in the front and study the slide for exams and you'll be fine.
Average Professor, Talks fairly quietly, so it helps if you sit in the front. STUDY the POWERPOINTS. Exams can be tricky if you try to cram last minute, but if you study the powerpoints a week or so ahead of the exam, the class isn't too difficult.
I felt that Dr. Price made the subject enjoyable, although he can easily get sidetracked during lecture. He's approachable, which is good in a subject like physio! The textbook is supplemental, but it can be helpful. As long as you follow the slides, you're golden! Clickers are used for easy participation points also!
I have had Price for Psio 201 and 202. He is a nice guy, but he is a boring lecturer. This class and 201 pretty much comes down to knowing the PowerPoints for the lecture exams, lab manual for lab practicals, and going to the study center at Gittings for extra help. If you do all that an A or B is definately possible.
PSIO 202 was split between Dr. Price & Dr. Settle, Price being the better instructor. He can be a little spacey & boring, but in general he's a good professor; he's helpful when you need it and approachable. Attendance is only really needed for clicker questions, and all the test material is covered in slides which are posted on D2L.
The class is split and Dr. Price teaches the 2nd half. It was a big change going from Dr. Bailey to Price and Price's tests are much harder. Just be sure to pay attention to what he says during lecture and attend class!
Dr. Price is a good lecturer, but he tends to spend time on details that are not important, and skim over valuable information. His tests are difficult and you must study. Psio is a difficult class anyway, and Dr. Price does his best to make it as enjoyable as possible.
Split class between Dr. Bailey and Dr. Price. I thought Dr. Bailey was far and away the better lecturer, but Dr. Price's tests are easier, so it's kind of a wash. He doesn't offer many clicker questions in comparison though, so you have to attend lecture to get them all.
Dr. Price is one of the most clear and helpful lecturers I have had in PSIO. He goes into detail but in a way that you will understand the information and remember it for the exam. His exams are straightforward - study well and pay attention, and you will do well. If you are having trouble go to office hours. He is incredibly helpful!
Firstly, complex pathways of cell signaling isn't for everyone. But I went into the class not looking forward to much and I found the lectures and topics very interesting, and Dr. Price is a great guy. He will always be willing to clarify in class and in his office hours, and tests are very straightforward. Would recommend.
PSIO 202 is by far one of my favorite classes and Dr. Price's lectures have a lot to do with that!! He makes the material easy to understand and his powerpoints are incredibly clear. If you know everything on the slides and understand it then you will get an A on his tests. The material is interesting and I enjoyed studying for the course.
Dr. Price is very enthusiastic about cell signaling information, which helps out a lot. Exams are doable with studying. Don't let the amount of information presented in a lecture scare you; once you've gone over the notes a couple of times, the material becomes clear cut. Also, I recommend that you record the lectures. Really comes in handy.
Dr. Price was amazing and clearly loves to teach this class. The lectures always goes to the end, but after having a different professor for the second half of the semester, I really missed his teaching style. The tests are tough, but if you study the objectives of each lecture you'll be prepared. Don't buy the textbook it's all on the slides.
He likes to add random facts into his lectures. His test questions can be challenging since he makes them wordy. Sometimes, it seems like he's talking to himself -- he'll ask and answer his own questions.
This class is hands down the hardest class I've taken so far. This class is the reason that I ultimately changed my major since I realized how boring physiology is. Participation is required since we have clicker questions everyday and tests are hard no matter how much I studied. Price was nice enough but there was just too much information.
Study! Boring lectures but the information is interesting. Pay attention in lab and A's are a must on all exams if you want an A in the class without taking the final.
took psio201 too and both classes i took were co-taught and i hated the way Dr. Price taught both times. he basically read off of his power points and went really slow through the easy stuff and really fast through the more complicated stuff. he also made everything seem simple and then tests were hard. if you can take with someone else do it!
Dr. Price is a fine lecturer, but he tends to go off topic. Make sure to read the book, otherwise you will not be prepared for tests. Tests are INSANELY hard, and cover material not in the lecture slides. Plan on spending hours on this class if you want a B or Higher. Even then, I barely scraped by.
Dr. Price was one of the worst lecturers between 201 & 202. His lectures were always extremely long and boring and he would speed through really important details, while going extremely slow and tangent off of the simple things. Tests were very difficult and were not off of the lecture slides like 201. You must read the book and understand info
Dr. Price is a very nice person, and he knows a lot about what he teaches. There were times, however, where I found myself falling asleep or getting distracted. There is a lot of information, so as long as you write everything down and study from that, you should do well on the exams.
Dr. Price is an great professor! Sometimes he would go on and on about little topics so I suggest reading the text book to help solidify the information . His tests are different than 201, they require you to go beyond just memorizing structures and basic functions. Just keep up with the lectures and don't wait till the last minute to study!
This class isn't easy no matter what professor you get. I mean it's physiology so expect a decent amount of studying. I took it over the summer so it was VERY dense but super worth getting it out of the way. All you need to study for the exams are his lectures. Advice: look up content that you don't understand on google/Youtube
WORST PROF EVER... His lectures are hard to follow and his exams are not knowledge based but based on whether or not you can understand what he's asking. He purposely asks questions with double negatives or makes things confusing. Horrible teacher. Worst experience of my life for 3 whole semesters I dreaded going to his class got a C all times.
Very kind professor. He even urged students who had questions over the material to email him over Thanksgiving break, which shows just how dedicated he is to student success. On the other hand, I had a hard time following his lectures and found the tests to be worded in a tricky way. No matter how hard I studied, I never got above a C on any exam.
Dr. Price is such a genuine man that truly wants his students to exceed. This class was broken up into 3 different blocks with 2 other professors, his was the 1st and I learned the most from him. I would recommend you go attend lectures & to office hours if you need help! Not my favorite course, but it is required for all psio majors... good luck
Dr. Price is an extremely awkward individual who does not seem to know how to lecture. His lectures are out of order and his tests are extremely unpredictable. There are 5 tests, and then lab is a total nightmare on top of that. There are also in class clicker questions. Get ready to hear him talk to himself in front of the class.
Not the best physio teacher, would not recommend taking him if you do not have to. He makes his lectures very awkward and boring, which makes it harder to learn.
Dr. Price was a genuinely caring and intelligent professor; however, his lectures were very boring and confusing. He did not know how to engage students and made the class/exams very difficult.
Dr. Price cares about his students but his lectures were sometimes confusing. Pay attention because some exam questions come from what he says. Most of your lecture grade is exams (64%) and clicker questions (3%), the rest is based on lab grade. You don't need the book - study lecture slides and go to office hours if you don't understand something.
I really liked Dr. Price. He was really nice and he was kinda funny. His exams are mostly based on his lecture slides and a bit on what he says so listen when he speaks! 202 was definitely tougher than 201, but his exams weren't that bad.
LOVED taking PSIO 202 with PRICE! He was VERY helpful in office hours! Be sure to REVIEW key concepts! Lab is a bit HARD, but not impossible :) <3
Dr. Price was very straight forward and explained the content very well. He would make comments like "this would make a good exam question" which was helpful. He lectures right until the class ends, starting a new unit even if there's 5 minutes left. Overall pretty decent.
You need to do well on the lecture exams in order to do well on the exams, along with the practicals in lab. Study the objectives at the end of his lecture slides and you will do great, no textbooks are required. Just study hard.
Dr. Price is a very nice guy; very approachable and willing to help any of his students. However, Dr. Price is a poor lecturer and confuses a lot of his students. He will go off on tangents and mention information that has not been covered yet, but when he actually gets to it he just skips over it at super fast speed. Always is behind on lectures.
Price is a very nice guy and often stops in the middle of his lectures to ask the class if anyone has any questions. However, his lectures are incredibly fast-paced and awkward. He'll go fast, yet somehow, we always struggled to get to end of the unit due to his addition of whatever random facts he'll decide to add into each lecture.
He loves to teach. He makes some dad jokes which I really enjoy. He tells you what is gong to be on the test if you go to office hours and if you are listening carefully in class for those hints. He is a great resource for people wanting to enter PSIO and for others who like science in general. He likes to talk about stuff outside class too.
Dr. Price has a hard time presenting his material in a clear and precise way, so I rarely even take notes, I just listen and try to absorb so when I go back to study, it'll be easier to remember. Lectures are posted online, just study/learn the material yourself from reading the slides. Exam questions come from the objectives, so focus on that.
Dr. Price is always willing to help anyone outside of class. He may not be the best at teaching the lectures but if you go to see him in office hours he makes everything way easier to understand. He is a really patient and kind professor. Go to office hours, it's your best friend for this course.
This lecture is significantly easier than the lab, and Eric Price does a wonderful job of teaching the material. Much less material and presented more clearly by competent professors. Loved this lecture- work hard so it makes up for struggling in lab. Good luck!
Price is seriously one of the best professors for PSIO201. People will complain that he is monotone or boring but that is because they simply do not care about the material/won't put in the work. This is a college level class so get used to putting college level effort because this class prepares you for upper division classes beyond any other.
We barely, if ever, get through all the material because price spends too much time explaining things as a metaphor. What he doesnt get to he just skips. He also has a very weak voice and is painfully awkward which makes it even harder to learn. If you care about learning the material well, dont take him.
Eric Price is the single worse professor i have ever had. He manages to take four days for one lecture and then the week before the test we are speed cramming all the hardest information. It is stressful and not efficient. Teach yourself kind of class. Lab is overwhelming so give yourself time to memorize. Also, take MCB181 first.
Dr. Price is passionate and enthsiastic. Speech pace is higher than the usual Physio proffessor, but this is great about him, because it keeps your attention. Lecture slides well put together with helpful graphs. Amazing sense of humor/hilarious if you are paying attention because he is subtle with it and you have to catch it. Read his slides A.
PSIO 202 is difficult in that it is quite a leap from 201. There is much less "hand-holding" because there are not any bonus questions, and we had less time overall for each test than 201. 202 is very dense, and requires more conceptual learning rather than memorization. Price basically reads over the slides, but is very open to questions.
he's the most precious professor out there. He really does try to help you succeed as an individual student, but only if you actually try in his class (aka go to his office hours, attend lectures, and ask him questions no matter how stupid you may think they are). His exams are very straight to the point and doesn't require abstract thinking
I find his lectures extremely slow and boring and they never really made sense to me. I wish I had better things to say because he is so nice and is definitely trying to help students but I just hated his lectures! All the test info is on the powerpoints so as long as you study them you can do well on the tests, they're very reasonable!
Dr. Price is one of the most reliable professors in my opinion. The quality that you find in him is very consistent. It's not like he is more well versed in one topic versus another. It's a little hard to get tests back on time, but understandably so because he's teaching 201,202, and 303. Be nice :( he's trying his best and it really shows.
The way Dr. Price presents is so monotone and boring that he fails to keep the class engaged. He reads off the slides for the most part, making going to class absolutely useless - which many people realize immediately... His exams are extremely difficult. Take someone else if you can.
I love Dr. Price! He is so funny and actually makes the lectures interesting with his dad jokes. The class is test heavy, and although they aren't super easy, they are very straight forward. you can do well if you study!! his slides are also very helpful!! I took this class about 2 years ago, but I believe we had clicker questions
Tests are 50%, family member died I had proof the funeral was during lab got no credit because I didn't predict their death by emailing 24 hr ahead, excessive amount of content- more than 3 hr of recorded lecture that is mandatory for participation points (must get q's right) and then there's more uncovered content you memorize separately. Just no.
I think Price was better than Keen who taught along side Price. He was much more organized in his lectures and was clear on what you needed to know for the exams. Yes he read off the slides a lot but at least he did not go into things you don't need to know and waste your time like Keen did a lot.
Fall 2020. Dr. Price was the best lecturer of all three blocks, but his block was the hardest conceptually in my opinion. His lectures were better structured than the other 2 blocks so that makes up for the difficulty. His exam was ok, but if you do fine in the first 2 blocks you can relax on his exam.
PSIO 202 is tough due to dense material, but Dr. Price takes his time and is thorough in lecture so you can take notes without being rushed. His material frequently tied in with lab which was helpful for reinforcement. He is also clear about what to study for the exams, which were open-note, so a big plus! Chance for bonus points during exam week!
I had Dr. Price for 201/202/303. I like him more than most other physio profs, as he emphasizes what you need to know and gives lots of practice. He lectures hard material, but his care for his students makes it more digestible; he posts whatever students request on D2L to help us succeed and holds impromptu office hours whenever he can to help us.
Dr Price is a really nice guy but the topic of this class is so incredibly boring. His lectures cover everything you need to know but it's a lot of alphabet soup and it can be hard to follow. Luckily, there are the short reports and pre-lecture quizzes which really boost your grade. Study the lecture objectives to do well on exams.
Dr. Price is a great lecturer. Everything on his exams is from his lectures. He gives ample of resources to students in order for them to succeed. The only down-side of this class is that 70% of your grade is based on exams.
Be ready to spend at least a couple of hours each day on this class. Lots of reading, a few labs, a few lectures, two quizzes, and an exam each week. Set aside time to study for the exam because they are proctored. This is probably the best class I've taken through UofA. The material isn't easy but it's laid out very well.
Personally, 303 bored me to tears. My main complaint is that it took 2+ weeks to get exam grades back & we are still waiting on our final grade to be posted ~2 weeks after the end of the semester. Price's lectures are conceptually tougher than Delamere's, but they are better structured. Do well on the first 2 exams & you can relax for his.
Honestly for this class he was a great professor, very fair, graded quick, and even bumped my grade a few points. Definitely would recommend for a class as difficult as anatomy.
Good choice, but only if you are willing to put in the time to do all of the work. One proctored EXAM, 2 QUIZZES, ~12 videos, and 10 assignments (all per WEEK), for 7 week online course. Getting a good grade is possible but exam averages were low (on one block more people failed than passed the exam). DO THE EXTRA CREDIT TO GET A 3% GRADE INCREASE!
Took PSIO 201 as a 7-week course and while it's a tough class with a lot of content, Dr. Price was a great professor. He sometimes extended the deadlines of modules/quizzes when there was a lot of content that week and a lot of extra credit was offered. The grading scale was slightly adjusted and an additional 3.3% was added to everyone's grade.
Dr. Price, my outstanding professor for PSIO 201 and 202, excels in simplifying intricate concepts. His clear communication creates an inclusive learning space, and he demonstrates genuine care for each student. Dr. Price's passion for teaching serves as a lasting inspiration to all fortunate enough to experience his expertise in the classroom.
Taught the 3rd block and it made no sense, very lecture heavy and did not tie to course concepts well. Too many diagrams that are not explained and pointless
Terrible professor. The lectures are so boring and disorganized. Does not teach well, and material on the exam is poorly written. Ended with an 89.5 in the class, and he would not round up. Would not wish this class on my worst enemy.
Dr. Price was a great professor. I never went to class because you didn't need to. His personality was great and he was always there for his students. Do not listen to prior reviews as you simply just need to review the slides and review lecture quizzes and they're modeled pretty closely to the exams. You have plenty of resources to succeed.
Dr. Price is amazing! He co-teaches with Dr. Delamere, and they're both great! Price posts detailed notes for every lecture, straight up tells you what you should knowYou don't even need to show up to class, however still outside studying. White-boarding, flashcards and notes. Dr. Price had the last exam, it was tricky, study and you'll be fine.
I took the 7wk1 course and it is a challenging class so obviously it was not easy. There was a heavy course load but it is definitely manageable. Dr. Price is extremely organized, making it easier. I did the readings and watched the lectures and did all the assignments and got an A. Prepare to spend a lot of time on this class
Dr. Price is the best PSIO201 professor. Although the content is difficult and will not be easy, as long as you put in the time and energy it is not impossible to get a bad grade. I (barley) got an A because of the multiple extra credit options that were given to us! Dr. Price truly cares about his students and wants us all to succeed.
Online course goes by so quick. SOO much information to be retained and spending most of my time on this class when I also have other classes. It's pretty difficult.
It's clear Dr. Price enjoys teaching and cares about his students. His lectures are straightforward and are all outlined with learning objectives. If you study the lecture objectives it's a guaranteed A
Price's course is ridiculous. I had to retake PSIO201 because of a credit-transfer issue, and my first AP1 class was 100% more digestable, reasonable, and CLEAR. Price is horrible at teaching. This, combined with the mountain of homework and him requiring EVERY detail from his 20+ hours of lectures to be memorized for tests make this class unfair.
Honestly not bad professor at all. He does take time to answer all questions while you going through the module but do not expect a review of exams after you have took them (which is a major cons). For me the class structure was clear, though the coursework is time consuming, which is expected as stated in the syllabus.
He doesn't respect your time. He'll be behind lectures or he'll cancel class last minute. It's really annoying. You'd be better off studying on your own.
This was the most organized online course I've taken. Dr. Price's lectures are well-thought-out, and the modules are designed to build your knowledge throughout the week, preparing you for the weekly exams. He is very responsive via email and won't hesitate to help if you have a question about the content. Be prepared to spend ~20 hours per week.
Dr.Price taught the second half of PSIO 303 and his lectures are so hard to follow along. Goes on tangents in the middle of his sentences and never gets to the point. All slides are diagrams that have way too much information that you don't need to know. Never finishes the lectures and picks up at the next class in the middle so confusing.
This class had a very forgiving grading scale. 50% were multiple-choice exams, 20% were weekly quizzes (multiple attempts), and 30% were post-lecture quizzes that gave 90% credit for incorrect answers. Difficult content, but that is unavoidable. If you also have to take Biochem (I think 384?), I recommend taking that first before taking this class.
Took first seven week online of this course, very well thought out lectures and straightforward content, but the weekly load of work can be overbearing, so it is important to pace yourself well to get it all done
Took in person with Lease, and did poor. Took online with Price, earned a very easy B. Lot of playposits/assignments, but they are easy to do. Price's exams were strongly based on his learning objectives, which I feel Lease did not do. Very nice guy, but study, because exams are honorlock.
i like Eric Price, but this class is very difficult, with a 67% average on exams which make up 75% of grade. the other 25% is free points but the lectures are long and hard and there are 5 exams so be prepared to spend ALOT of time studying for each exam. Furthermore, there are free responses on exam, so u have to know all pathways which is a lot.
Eric Price while as a teacher seems fair overall, there are comments made in the course info that are not professional. HEAVY work load, states 25 hours a week, when it is closer to 40+. Information in course is almost unmanageable even with strong foundation of knowledge in the topic. Class is borderline unfair.
Better take in-person class if possible. There's only 7-week class for online students and that's ridiculous. The professor seems okay and supportive, but this class is just insanely overwhelming. Too many homework (10+ every week), mim. 10 lecture videos, 2 quiz and 1 exam every week. it requires 40+ hours a week. You better take this class only..
The course description states that you'll spend around 25 hours a week; however, based on my experience, I spent around 35-40 hours a week trying to balance 10+ PlayPosit videos, 10+ assignments, 2 block quizzes, and an exam every week while taking other classes. Regardless of the workload, Eric Price was a great professor.
Its obvious hes been teaching for a long time and seems to genuinely care about the students education. No ego no power trip, just a dude who loves to teach The test questions are very conceptually based and not super detail heavy, watch all the playposit lecture videos start to finish before the exam and youll do great. 10/10 would recommend.
He is so boring. His lectures are boring and half the time he is so behind he'll just end up skipping over entire lectures. His exams are poorly written and he expects you to know random detail. Make sure to read the question and options repeatedly because the wrong answer is probably only off by one word.
