good teacher
The class was not too hard, but I did not like him. He was super uptight, for example, he would not let you see what you missed on the online quizzes because people would write down the answers other people. Why can't you open it after the due date? Because people would give them to his next semester class. HA! Who does that?
Yes, the course is tough but if you do everything he requires you will pass the class.
his class was really hard you would need to put a lot of effort
It's not easy. Will take a lot of studying to do well on the exams. I felt like I studied hard and would still fail exams. I would avoid.
I expect to get an A in his class, but it was not easy. Although, I visited his office and he was INCREDIBLY helpful. He knows how to explain it and was very encouraging.
Many of the questions on his tests were difficult to understand or could be easily misunderstood. Some of his tests have questions that are simply trick questions. I would highly recommend seeking aid from the SI sessions and see if your Breakout Session leader can help you during their office hours.
He is very picky about his class procedures. A lot of unnecessary rules to the point of almost paranoia. As a teacher he could be worse but was not my favorite whatsoever. He knows what he is talking about so I guess that's all that matters.
I study for hours and would still fail the tests. I have a good TA and the class is still ridiculously hard. Not enough examples of what to expect on the test. Liks the problems they give as examples are way easier than the test questions. read, go to tutoring, Si or get help outside of class because your going to need it!
I did not want to take this course, and it has been very hard. Rosano was fun and helpful though.
Good teacher, clear grading, and a teacher who admits when he has made a mistake. Gives lots of points back on tests.
Personally, I didn't think the exams were very difficult. He did throw a few questions from the practice exams (mostly vocab) into the exams. I only missed a couple classes, but would skim through the book to get caught up. It was definitely not easy material, but pretty logical and straight forward.
Accounting is BORING, but he was fun and yummy!
i do not recommend to take him, the worse professor ever! i always in his office but he did not lie to help he's just say do your best 4 exams and they are extremely diffecult and weekly HW and Quizzes. if you have a chance do not take him
ACC 231 is the hardest class I have even taken so far, but that does not mean you can earn a good grade from this class. The professor is really helpful and offer extra office hours, so if you ever have question about the materials go find him in the office. extra credits were given during the semester.
He's the hardest professor I've ever seen. Today is Feb 14th and I already dropped the class. He didn't help me with anything. In fact, he told to drop the class because Im too dumb to pass the class. WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!
Amazing faculty member! Challenges his students to think analytically through assignmentsquizzesexams. It's not an easy class, but Rosano is willing to help if you're willing to ask. He may looksound intimidating, but he genuinely cares. He likes class time to be productive, so if you're expecting help, you need to go to office hours.
Rosano is a mean to his TA's and his students. Simply put he's the worst professor I've ever had. His lectures are sped through and then expects you to know and understand everything he said within minutes of hearing it. My TA was more of a teacher for us than he was. Oh and if you have problems with MAL (and you will) Rosano wont help you.
Homework are every week you have an online quiz for every chapter and not all of them are easy you have like extra points to loose for example: 99 points available for quizzes and the maximum points you can got are 80 I think there are professors easier than him if you have the chance
I think he still thinks he's in the army. He is demanding, but very straightforward. Lots of points available to do decent in the class.
Rosano is helpful however he loves to be condescending to his students and TAs and always tries to make jokes. The quizzes and exams WILL include things he never mentioned so SI and reading each chapter at least 3 times is highly recommended. If you work extremely hard, you can get a good grade. Take anyone else if you can.
Don't skip class! bark is bigger than his bite. I don't think he was that hard.
Take a picture of his first slide on the first day. That will sum up how the semester is going to go. Got an A in Mat 211 might not pass this with a C. Expect to be treated lower then a redheaded step child... very considerate how he makes his homework due at 10 unlike every other professor that does at midnight. Literally would rather die.
Greatest class i have ever taken i would fully recommend it to anyone wanting to boost their GPA.
Worst class I've ever taken. This professor honestly makes it a goal to fail the majority of his students. Avoid if you want to spend your entire life at the SI sessions ... the tests don't seem to match his breakout assignments or homework. He is also very rude and sarcastic, and does not feel welcoming when it comes to students asking questions.
Worst professor I've ever had in my life. Will ask for participation, then proceed to bash you when you do participate in class lectures. Also very unprofessional as he shows up every Monday morning in need of a shower, comb, and clean clothes. Nothing he says makes any sense, and asking for an explanation is 100% useless. Never felt so lost.
He goes over material quick and seems kind of rude sometimes. His tests can be tough, if you take time studying you'll be okay. The book is NEEDED and has everything you'll need to know.
I never went to lecture because Rosano went over everything too fast and I realized I was better off studying on my own. With that said, I never went to a single SI session and only crammed a day or two before the exam and I currently have a B+A- in the class. ACC is a LOT of work, don't blame it on the professor. His exams were definitely fair.
The class itself is hard by its nature. As for Rosano, there's nothing really wrong with him. His lectures are just painfully awkward. He tries to be funny and isn't, and rambles a lot. I mostly relied on the book for the tests, reading the chapters and taking notes. Get the online version so you can search terms for online quizzes.
He talks too fast and practically shouts his lectures while power walking up and down the lecture hall flailing his arms making it impossible to concentrate on what he is saying (which is already a foreign language in itself because of all of the accounting terms. ) The tests are infinitely more difficult than the class assignments and homework.
He does get through the material pretty fast, but he also expects you to put in your own time on HWother review. He does his best to explain and if you go talk to him after lassoffice hours he will help a lot. People that trash him probably just didn't go to class. If you need help talk to him ASAP and you will get it. Accounting is a hard topic.
The class within itself is difficult. It has nothing to do with Rosano, he teaches the terms, but the breakout instructors teach the concepts. If you do the homework on your own and pay attention and breakouts the class is easy. Do the breakouts over again to study for test and got the SI Session; they are super helpful.
He is also very rude and sarcastic, and does not feel welcoming when it comes to students asking questions.
First of all, this is the worst class I've ever taken. I really hate accounting after this class. This instructor is so rude with everybody he even said that from the very beginning. He does not respect anybody. In addition to that, the exams are so tricky and super hard. I covered all the materials, but still hard. Last thing don't take this cls
The people hating on Rosano and ACC 231 clearly did not put in the time to understand accounting. Go into his office hours once in a while and you will find it helpful! It is by no means an EASY class, but if you just put in an hour outside of class each week to comprehend the material, you will be fine. I found accounting to be interesting.
I don't get why people think this class is so hard. I got an A+ and didn't lose a single point. It didn't seem that hard and I thought accounting was kind of interesting. I never went to Rosano's lectures, just go to the breakout sessions to learn the material. Homework doesn't take too long and you get 3 chances on each one.
Horrible class, worse professor. If you can avoid him, do so at all costs. Super arrogant guy, pretty sure he doesnt shower, and down played how hard the final was. I had a 89% test average and got a 53% on the final after studying for 4 days straight. Hes a tool to say the least. Do yourself a favor and take it online at Rio Salado.
A very rude man, definitely my least favorite professor so far. Be ready for him to try to act really cool and for his rude comments during lecture. Tests are really hard be ready to study, read, and do hours of homework.
It was a good course yet some of the T.A.s are more qualified than others. Overall work hard for the grade you want because if you do not you will not obtain it. Every point counts!! you need to read the book!!
Rosano's class is hard unless you figure out the system. Save all of the breakout sheets and before the test, print them out and do them from blank until you know the problems. The test is either straight off the breakout or VERY similar. 1 question from lecture on each test about metaphors he uses. Quizzes are straight out of the book.
Even though I had to re-take this course. It made me love accounting and Eric even more. He is totally comes off mean but its because he cares. He wants you to succeed in life and his course. HE writes the exams, NOT MAL!! So do what he says and print out the review sheets that are done throughout class and practice them!!! SIMPLE!
This class depends a lot on how good your TA is because you learn the most from your breakouts. The book is needed because all the answers for the quizzes are in the book. The exams are a lot similar to the breakout exercises.
Tough but good. Made Accounting interesting to learn about. Credit due for that.
Class is tough and can be confusing at times, but go to class and do the work and you should be fine
He really cares that his students learn. Sometimes he can get very upset that students don't follow along but he generally is very helpful. He uses his class lectures to introduce the material and then go over practice problems. Make sure to do all online material and know when it is due, because he will not remind you.
One of the rudest professors I've ever met. No respect towards his students even when questions are asked. I could not believe his attitude throughout the whole course. Dodge him.
PLEASE go to his office hours and see for yourself before you even begin judging Rosano. I've never had a professor that cared so much and invested so much of their own time just to help me succeed. Do the work, don't miss hw's or the quizzes, they're all systematic and online. Exams are based on class lectures and activity sheets he does in class
. Listen to his lectures, read the book, do the homework, and practice what he says to practice. There's a reason for every single thing he says. Do it. P.S. Yes he comes across as aggressive. But the guy is cool. Just handle your work and you'll do just fine.
Tests are impossible to pass
Super hard class and he is very intimidating when asking questions, yells at students all the time. If you go to class and pay very close attention to the activity sheets, the tests are possible to pass. Must read the textbook if you want to pass the online quizzes. Overall he helped me a lot with actually understanding. Hw takes a while to do.
He is a good teacher, knows what he's talking about. Tests are hard and he tells you that from the beginning. You will have 2 homework assignments each week, which take a while. Quizzes are straight from text book, tests are from his worksheets. He does not make attending mandatory but it is to pass the tests. will call you out for being on phone.
The class overall is a hard class! On the first day he told us that you do not want to be taking the final because it is so hard! If you are passing the class before the final then you do not have to take it! It requires a lot of time and effort.
If you're reading this don't take the class with Mr Rosano. If you can learn accounting by yourself then maybe because you can never ask him anything without him yelling or scolding you. Went to office hours multiple times to get help with the understanding of accounting and the class but he blows it off.
Eric Rosano was a fantastic ACC teacher. He was very clear with each subject, and did a great job explaining each subject for all to understand. Homework and quizzes were very easy; just follow the book and you'll be fine. The tests are tough, but he grades on a curve. As long as you go to class, read the book, and the homework, you'll be fine.
This class is hard regardless of who your teacher is. Do the pre homework, homework and quizzes online on time. The tests are difficult but doable. He acts like an A hole but he's actually a pretty cool guy. Overall he does his job, he's definitely not as bad as some reviews say.
I would never tell people to not take a certain professor because everybody learns differently. What I will say is that he is a good professor but if you ask him a question or to reteach a certain point, he almost finds it offending and takes it personal and will make you feel bad/dumb in front of a 400 person lecture hall.
There are no extra credit for this class. The tests are really difficult. He will give you some curve on these tests. The textbook is very necessary.
This class is actually not that hard if you stay on top of it. Make sure you go to class, he explains a lot through slides and activity sheets. He does come off as rude, but he actually is not. I think he just gets annoyed when he has to answer the same question over and over. Exams are over his notes and activity sheets, homework is over book.
I know it says not use profanity when posting here but the only way to describe Rosano would be say that he is a complete and utter assh0le. Last fall he had 4 rage tantrums during class. Answer anything wrong he will humiliate you. Emails? Never responds. The only way to pass this class is to teach it to yourself and go to the SI sessions.
DO NOT TAKE ACCOUNTING WITH THIS PROFESSOR. Rosano treats his classes like a military boot camp and treats his students with zero respect. The class itself is challenging but he makes it 100x worse. In any acc class you will have the same assignments and same concepts- DONT TAKE ROSANO unless you are okay with being ridiculed for asking a question.
First college class i've taken that i've actually enjoyed learning the material! Rosano is quite a personality, but just go with it. NO electronics in class--he'll call you out. Write/print the powerpoint before class, he goes fast. GO TO THE STUDY SESSIONS! You really have to work for an A/B, but he makes the subject easier to understand. Easy HW.
He doesn't seem to comprehend that this is no longer the military, thereby treating his students like soldiers in training.
Goes through topics like a breeze so if you miss one class will be very hard to catch up on your own. Sessions are needed if you want an A.
The matrial it self is hard but he makes it even more hard and confusing. He already expects you to know everything before he even teaches you anything so he just reviews in class and not actually teach!!! Lots of homework and pre homework, you must stay on the top of it to pass
Eric is not a difficult teacher at all, if you are willing to put in the work necessary for the class. I think a lot of the comments on here are from students who have not yet adjusted to the idea that much of college is about self-motivation and self-learning. Not a tough class if you stay on top of the material.
Hopefully Rate my Professor actually posts this post this time: But, Rosano is the worst teacher I've had at ASU. I understand college is about self-motivation and critical thinking, but don't make an introductory course like a upper division class. Doesn't answer questions in class and humiliates you. Def. recommend MCC or Dr. Frost at West.
Very self righteous, doesn't explain things very well and gets mad when people ask questions. Gives very hard tests, with little time to complete, almost half the class dropped after the second test. Be prepared to study your ass off for his tests because they are poorly worded and have a lot of content not gone over. Overall, horrible prof.
This class is one of the most failed classes at ASU. It sucks because I personally read the textbook and study the activity sheets but the exam questions are just so difficult and worded differently that time runs out and before you know it, you have to guess on a bunch of questions. He is condescending when you ask for help too.
Hardest class I have taken so far. Professor that calls you out if you go to his office hours. You will have to guess on a lot of questions on his test because of the time is running out before you even know it.
Everything needed to succeed in this class is given by Rosano. One day a week is lecture, while the other two are focused on examples. These examples are super helpful for the exam. Everyone is saying that he is a tough professor, but I found his teaching style to be clear. The material is tough, not the prof. College isn't supposed to be a breeze.
School has always come very easy to me, so this class was a real eye opener. I read the book, went to every class, and worked on all the practice problems and still suffered. The test questions were really hard. Some tests they were vocabulary and the next it was formulas. You tended to run out of time and had to guess.
Just found out today that I passed his class, but I worked very hard to do so. I constantly did homework in groups and studied hard for the quizzes and tests. This class is not easy, but if you read the book, go to lecture, and attend SI sessions you can definitely pass. He's rude in class but he's actually nice in his office hours.
He is a huge jerk. If you go to his office hours he might show you pity. The tests and quizzes are hard. Homework can take upward of 3 hours an assignment with a Pre-homework, homework, and quiz that don't really reflect what is on the tests. The SI leaders are really nice and helpful. You have to put a lot of time in to pass.
Hardest class I've ever done. His wording is tough to understand, if you don't go to class&do activity sheets you won't pass exams and he is very articulate of how you do things. He's a great dude outside of class but he's difficult. NOT an easy course whatsoever. He speaks really fast too. Barely passing, but if you sit in the front he'll like you
Rosano is strict. But he's a great professor and I learned a lot about my work ethic in his class. Honestly, just read the chapter before the week starts, actually show up to every single lecture, go to an occasional SI session, study your work book for each exam, and GO TO OFFICE HOURS!! This class isn't bad if you apply yourself from day 1.
The tests are soooo hard and the homework is very frustrating and long, but can get a good grade on. The quizzes at the end of each chapter are super hard as well, and it was just a very hard class in general. Don't take it with him
I actually really enjoyed taking this class! The tests ARE hard, but if you know all the definitions and can do your workbook perfectly there's no reason you can't get an A. Rosano made the class pretty clear and straightforward, but you need to put in a ton of work.
Rosano really sets students up for success. Gives a ton of extra points on assignments, quizzes, and has a huge curve on every test plus drops your lowest. He sets his tests up for CRITICAL thinking, so you have to understand the material, not just memorize it. Tough class, lots of work, but very easy to do well in if you put in just a bit of time!
Worst teacher I've ever had at ASU. It sucks because he's the only professor for ACC 231. I would recommend just taking this class in community college so you don't want to stab yourself. I attended every lecture and even went to tutoring and still didn't do as well as I wanted to on the exams. Rosano makes the exams super difficult on purpose.
This class was a huge wake-up call for a lot of students. While this professor was called a lot of mean things throughout the year, he was really just doing his job. The class was tough, and you truly had to put in the work to pass. If you don't read, you WILL NOT PASS. His tests are incredibly hard and focus on understanding, so LEARN!
Summer session, small class and much more personal. You can read reviews below and get a feel for how many people will fail, this isn't a class where everyone passes for showing up. You have to put in work, but Rosano is an exceptional instructor if you can embrace his style and meet his challenge. He isn't being mean, he's trying to motivate you.
Be prepared to work hard in Professor Rosano's class. A grade is not given to you, it must be earned. To receive a decent grade within his class, one must put in a tremendous amount of effort. If you work hard, pay attention, practice the activity booklets, and attend every lecture you should expect to see positive results!
He has little patient but he is an inspirational professor. Not an easy class.
Worse class I have ever taken at asu. His class would be perfect for an accounting major not someone that is just taking it because they have to for their major core classes!!!!!
All kinds of buffer built into the class! He won't help you if you aren't attending class or doing homework and then miss an exam. But he will literally spend hours coaching 1-on-1 outside class if you're putting in any kind of effort at all. If you're lazy, find a different class. If you're 80% responsible, there's nothing to fear. Hard but fair.
He yells and repeats himself multiple times during class. Not nearly enough time to complete the lengthy exams he gives.
Obviously it's not going to be a class where you are handed your A. He repeats himself to emphasize what you need to know for the test and he's entertaining. The last test is fairly difficult but he does drop one. If you do the homework and go to his class for the worksheets you'll be fine. You walk out actually understanding accounting for 241.
Professor rosano is a great guy. I admire him for his no b.s. attitude. If youre a slacker, one of those people who cant get off their phones, or cry about everything its not the class for you. The only grades are homework and 4 tests, and if your grade is ok then THERE IS NO FINAL! I dont try too hard and have a b+. Only bad thing is test time lim
Rosano is definitely a tough professor but if you read the Textbook, then lectures will make a lot more sense. He gives four exams and there's a homework assignment for every chapter which comes with an extra credit assignment per homework. The activity sheets are an excellent reference for exams. Be prepared to put in work, but an A is achievable
This class was tough but not nearly as tough as a lot of the reviews on here claim it to be. Accounting is a hard class regardless of who you take it with at ASU but I am glad I took it with him, learn the vocal each chapter and you will do so much better on the exams and make sure you get all the workbook stuff down
Gets mad if you dont know everything, worst professor I've had at ASU
Really an excellent professor, explains everything well. Expects you to read the textbook. Make sure to print out the PowerPoints as notes as well.
Don't get me wrong, Rosano's class is ridiculously hard, but he explains everything extremely well. The SI instructors that work with him help make the class more bearable so I would recommend attending those sessions.
He is rude, and really does expect you to know everything without properly teaching the material first. My least favorite professor I've had while at ASU.
ACC 231 IS HARD, and if you do not put in the work for his class, you will not pass. Rosano is a great professor, passionate and somewhat witty. SI are very helpful, test review sections are a must-go. Exams really test your understanding so make sure you know the material.
You basically have to teach yourself the material. Homeworks are do before you even go over the chapter in class, which sucks. He's a tough grader and homeworks are pretty hard. If you wanna pass I would highly recommend going to SI sessions. They're really helpful!
Rosano is a good prof and def wasn't as bad as the reviews that some people have given. Attend all his lectures, participate in class, visit him during his office hours and attend the SI sessions. The SI can be really helpful.
Exams are nothing like the work you do at home.
Professor Rosano is a nice guy and very proficient in his knowledge but unfortunately his course is much more fitted for accounting majors than general business majors. Despite it's difficulty, doing well in the class is possible, I promise! Take advantage of the SI's and although Rosano may come off intimidating don't be afraid to ask questions.
Professor Rosano is one of the best professors I've had at ASU. He is tough and comes across rude to some, but he's just very passionate about what he teaches. If you go to class and actually pay attention, it is very possible to get a good grade. If you are willing to put in the time and effort you will realize that he is a fantastic professor.
Run from this class. Do yourself a favor and take it at the local community college.
Rosano is passionate about what he does and how he teaches, however it all just comes off rude. There are no powerpoints during lecture; he just walks around and talks one day out of the week and does activities on paper the other days (which actually aren't too bad). All in all I'm not a fan of Rosano at all, but his course itself isn't terrible.
Go to class if you want to pass because to pass the test all you really need to do is practice the activity sheets until you get them right CONSISTENTLY and read the textbook for extra practice. It's not an easy class and you have to be willing to put in the effort if you want a good grade. He's really not as bad as everyone says.
The best professor I have had at ASU so far. He has a lot of energy and cares about the class a lot.
He can come off as rude and arrogant during his lectures but he is just very passionate about both accounting and his class. Go to his lectures, read the textbook BEFORE class, practice the activities, go to his office hours, and his after test reviews are EXTREMELY helpful. This is NOT an easy course, but its very possible if you try hard.
He does not care for student success. He has a "no email" policy, so if you have a question, you have to ask him in person. But if he thinks your question is too elementary for his class, he will tell you your questions are not at a level high enough for him. He uses ZERO visual aids in his lectures and expects that you have read/learned it before.
Rosano is a good teacher. He knows what he's doing. Based on his practice questions he's a giant nerd. BUT he's really rude about taking pictures of the materials, having your phone out, will quit reviewing test if someone has one out, yells at people who aren't supposed to be there. loudly. and publicly. the tests are hard. you have to read.
If you are signed up for ACC231 for Rosano, you can check my asu everyday to see if there are vacancies with other professors. There are 4 exams & Pearson hw every week which helps boost your grade (very little amount). It is very easy to get 100% on hw, & I did the wksts from class at least 5 times. Read the textbook!! Put in the work & get out.
This class was pretty chill. Didn't go to class except to take exams. DO ALL THE HOMEWORK! It's an easy 20% of your grade. Exams are very hard but curved.
Professor Rosano is an amazing professor. I learned a lot from him and he was easily accessible to talk to in his office. You have to work to get a good grade, but he curves heavily. He truly cares about his students and wants them to do a good job. If you attend class, he gives helpful tricks for the tests that you won't learn if you are not there
Accounting in general is going to be a difficult class. Rosano did a good job at explaining the information and was always accessible outside of class. SI sessions basically map out the exam for you, and the class is heavily curved. Just do the homework, take good notes, and go to the SI sessions before the exams and you'll be fine.
Rosano can be really sarcastic and overconfident, but the class itself is really simple. You don't learn the material in class, you learn outside of class and use the class period to learn. I only showed up for tests and managed a B, so I feel most of the commenters really didn't put in any effort at all for learning.
Almost the worst teacher in ASU. TRY TO KEEP AWAY FROM his class!! His lectures are useless. The most awful thing is his character problem, extremely rude and paranoid. Very disrespectful to his students.
Rosano is not nearly as bad as his rating might let on. His class is definitely a challenge, but if you are a good student you won't have any trouble. If you want to skip class and generally not learn anything, take someone else. Highly recommend for accounting and finance majors, you will learn a lot that you need to know for your future career
exams are curved. you choose how your graded percentage wise with 4 options. tests are a little hard but you only need to answer 23 out of 40. you choose to take 3 midterms or a final. he always tells you to come to office hours.
