Professor Saidel was great. It was clear that he enjoys teaching the material. It is clear what he expects out of students and will definitely work with you if you don't understand the material. It was a difficult class but it was definitely rewarding.

Saidel is very knowledgeable and passionate about the mind body problem. Any question that is thrown at him, he can answer it in terms of what any philosopher of different theories would say. He is a bit of a tough grader but does offer substantial feedback. He is very approachable and is able to make class time enjoyable. 3 essays and 1 project.

The reverse classroom method he uses (learn at home, problems in class) is so inefficient and not helpful at all. If you don't do the 60 or so practice problems every two days, you will struggle. I feel like the class time could be spent teaching the material and doing a few problems, and not the class being confused over the hardest hw problems.

Here is the TEA sis attendance is mandatory and its 10 % of ur grade, there are 3 papers in the semester all 5-7 pages, at least 1500-2500 words, weighing 25% EACH. There is a 75 min presentation u gotta do that weighs 15% of ur grade. This done in a group of 3, on about 15 page complex phil article. He lowkey rude and he grades papers harsh ASL

This is a challenging class. However, Saidel is undoubtedly the funniest professor I have ever had and provides a lot of resources to improve, so you're in good hands. I loved this class, and if you're at all interested in what it explores and/or just want a class with a fun professor and a challenge, then this is a good pick.

Took intro to logic with Professor Saidel and absolutely loved it! There are lots of complaints about the reverse lecture style and about intro to logic in general, but honestly all you need to do to get an A in the class is to put effort into the homework and watch his short (less than 10 min) lectures. Does not require any previous phil knowledge

At first I didn't like him, but you start to get the grasp of the class and the way he teaches. His lectures are structured differently but once you get used to it becomes easier. Good grades are achievable if you practice and structure yourself. Take it if you are interested in logic problems / games, not philosophy or anything like that.

Saidel is an amazing professor and this class quickly became my favorite to attend; I would've given him a 5 if it weren't for how late he returns essays. Class is divided into three units, each culminating in a 5-7 pg essay. multiple prompts to choose from for each essay. participation and attendance:10% Group project and lecture: 15% 3 essays:75%

Prof Saidel is intimidating at first, and the reverse lecture style of the course can be off-putting at first, but he is one of the most approachable profs at GW in my opinion. He is always open to talk to students about anything, really pushes students to grow. If you do the homework and keep up with the lectures/content, you will do well.

This class is very challenging. He's very clear and open about that on the very first day of class. Doing the Homework and asking questions is the only way to ensure you pass. Practicing consistently is the name of the game. Saidel is always there to help but you gotta carry the weight of doing the problems to know which areas you aren't getting.

Intro to logic: Saidel organizes the class in the best way to learn logic. Lecture videos are well done and the in-class HW review is helpful. Most important: textbook HW questions are easier than quiz/test ones. If you're getting ANY textbook questions wrong, you need to keep practicing. If you're good at math, it'll be easy enough. Fun guy.

Won't be an easy A; he'll make you work for it. I highly recommend taking a class with Eric Saidel before you graduate

While the class isn't hard to pass, it is very difficult to get an A, especially if you're from a philosophy background and not math. Don't take as elective if you're just interested in philosophy because it will likely drop your GPA. However, earning an A is possible if you do everything Saidel says. He really wants his students to be successful.

I took this class and his logic class, and I loved both. Logic was hard, but if you like logic puzzles, it won't be too bad. mind/brain/ai was also super fun, but be prepared for very harsh but very helpful feedback on papers. He will give the harshest possible criticisms of your ideas in class, even if he agrees with those ideas. he's funny though
