I absolutely love your teaching style and wish there were more instructors like you.
3 essay/short answer exams and a scantron final. Coming to class is key because you need to take good notes. Homework is reading some documents he'll provide and answering questions: easy. He's VERY funny and helpful and tends to be passionate when teaching. Highly recommend this teacher. He makes History interesting for once.
One of the best profs I've had hands down, probably one of the smartests too. He's super into what he's teaching, and he makes it funny and relevant. He's willing to do what he can to help YOU, which is so rare. If there were more like him, our educational system would improve so much. You can tell he does it out of love of the topic not a paycheck
VERY enthusiastic about what he is teaching. Take word-for-word notes of his slides everyday and the book becomes useless! Attendance is mandatory but if you do miss class and have an excuse (I speak from experience) he is more than willing to work with you and give you the information you missed. Great teacher, probably deserves a raise.
Passionate about what he teaches. Everything on his tests are included in his lectures/powerpoints. Attendence is mandatory, but if you have a legit reason to missing class, he will send you his powerpoint. He helps everyone who needed it. Wish there were more teachers like him!
Imagine a passionate, talented, engaging teacher who is a LOT like Aziz Abasi but looks a LOT like Orlando Bloom (hilarious and attractive, plus is also a great teacher). That equals, a class defffiiintellyy worth taking!!
One of the best professors you will probably EVER have. He may be difficult at first, but he only does so to challenge you. He is very good at what he does. You will learn a lot from him. All the exams are 15 identifying key terms and an essay of his choosing. Except for the final, he has 25 multiple choice questions instead of an essay.
he's a great professor. he's hilarious & makes the class interesting. took him in the summer & took lots of notes. notes & lectures are on the test. his tests are pretty hard. he gives you 15 IDs & you only have to do 10, but he won't tell you which are on test. same for essays. he give 2-4 & you study all & he has 1 on test. he's amazing though!
Brilliant Professor whose passion and personal story will inspire you. Not an easy A, he will challenge you with tests including 3 essays, but it's worth it as you learn to write better, and you'll retain more from his teaching than from multiple choice or T or F exams. He insists you deeply understand history, not just memorize names and dates.
Best teacher i have ever had, i freeking love this teacher so clear, and helpful hes very understanding.
Good teacher. There are 3 exams,1 final and 4 primary documents which required you to read and answer questions( believe me,they are easy). Each exam includes 15 IDs( you have to do 10/15)& an essay.the final includes 25 IDS (u have to do 20/25). He will give the essay prompts before test day. He gives you extra credit by letting you watch a movie.
I took his class in summer 2 2012. He's good teacher. You will be fine if you study hard for his test. I got a 100 in this class. I like the way he grades on essays, it does help me write better on the next essay. I recommended this teacher. :)
Super funny and kept my attention, great teacher.
BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!!! Take him. He's worth it. AND he looks like Johnny Depp!
He is by far one of the best professors I've had. He loves what he teaches and he speak with such passion. He keeps you interested in what he's saying by bring his personality into his lectures. I've always liked history but I've learned so much in his class. Pay attention in lectures and don't miss any classes and it's very possible to make an A
Eric Salas is one of the best professors! He makes you understand what's going on. One of the best teachers. His tests are easy you write an essay and identify some terms
If you like to be entertained, whether you like history or not, then I suggest you take this professor. It's worth a lot of laugh out louds!
Eric Salas is an extremely intelligent professor. His class is very entertaining to be in. The test on the other hand are extremely hard, what others on here refer to as "challenging". If you have problems with remembering things such as history in extreme detail (dates of events not necessary) then this may not be for you. Very nice instructor.
I suck at history and have never liked the subject but Mr. Salas makes it fun, interesting, and easy to relate to! First essay was way tough but once you get down what he's looking for, EASY!! I can't wait for 1302!
Currently in my second semester with Mr. Salas and I still remember things he said the first week. He is personable and friendly, but will get serious when it comes to it. His fresh and funny take on events are memorable, and he'll go on a rant about something that he has a lot of passion on. AND HES HOT.
Salas is the best professor hands down! Love going to his class and I'm not a fan of history at all! Very funny and he knows how to teach! Take good notes, they're very helpful on tests! Tests are pretty hard but if you study well you'll pass! He's also really cute quick side note lol I enjoyed his class and I wish he taught all subjects!
Mr salas makes history so interesting. Great teacher! & very funny and he's hot! U write notes as soon as class starts till the last minute! It's Non stop!! His exams aren't that easy u have to know the material! NOT multiple choice. You'll be ok without the book.
Mr. Salas is one of the best professors ive had in quiet a while. He's relatable, funny, and most importantly keeps history interesting and makes you actually want to learn. Best history teacher ive had! The tests are hard but as long as you study, and take notes, you'll be just fine in the class!
Amazing teacher!! Loves history and is passionate about it. Super HOT!! Made an A, but had to work for it. Took him over 2 week winter term class and learned so much in 12 days. Def take him.
Mr. Salas is by far the BEST history teacher I have ever taken. Notes are a must. He is very down to earth, and if you need help there is not doubt he will help you. His test are not mutliple choice;however, A's are definitely possible, you just have to be willing to study.
Mr. Salas is a really good history professor. He really knows his history. He is pretty easy. You Need to go to class and take notes. Alot of notes but it will be helpful when studying for test. Suggestion: Look through notes and pick out key terms and write them out, what is it and why its significant. Test NOT multiple choice. Both class is easy
AWESOME teacher, he loves teaching and he's willing to help if needed. Attend class and take lots of notes. He is possibly the best teacher I've had to date.
His class is one of the best classes you'll ever take at TCC! He makes his lectures fun &understandable. His tests aren't multiple choice he gives you about 20 terms&you have to identify only 10. There's also an essay you have to write. He gives you a test review.I took both his 1301&1302 class and received an A! He also gives out extra credit.
Amazing teacher! Take if you have a love of history. He keeps you engaged in the lesson. His test are very easy if you take notes. He willing to help you if you miss class on getting your notes. Had a great time in his class.
This class was a really great history class! This teacher really knows his stuff! Mr. Salas kept me very interested and im going to miss the class. Alot of note taking and tests are not multiple choice but if you study you will be just fine.
Professor Salas is an awesome history teacher. He is very passionate about history and it shows when he teaches. He gets you involved in the discussions. I've never been a huge fan of history until this class. Only 3 exams and 1 small paper to write. All exams are over the notes you take. YOU MUST STUDY TO PASS THIS CLASS!
I took this class over the summer and it was a blast!!! Best teacher I ever had. Lots of notetaking but he makes sure everyone has all the info they need before moving on. You NEED to study your notes in order to do well in his class. Highly recommend everyone to take his class! You won't see history the same way again.
Awesomeeee teacher! Attend class and you will be fine! He Makes everything clear for test & there is never a dull moment in class. Just study:)
Mr. Salas is possibly the best teacher I've ever had. His lectures are very engaging, and he has an obvious passion for his subject. Connects well with students, and is always very helpful. Taking notes is a must. Studying is crucial to making high grades. You've got to know your stuff to do well on the tests. Not an easy class, though I made an A
Mr. Salas is the BEST history teacher ever. He is passionate about history, and cares about his students. I highly recommend taking his class, but you'll NEED to study! This is not an easy class (no multiple choice exams), but it is not that hard either if you read your notes and study for the exams. This class is totally worth it, he's amazing!!
Mr. Salas is by far the best professor I have ever had in any course. He is passionate about history, and makes class worth going to. You NEED to show up to class and take notes in order to do well. The tests ARE difficult, but he prepares you very well.
Amazing professor who makes learning history fun and educational. It's just a plus that he looks like Johnny Depp.
Very cool teacher! I took him for both Maymester and Summer session 1. I highly suggest him you have to pay attention but he will go out of his way to help you understand any and all material your having trouble with.
Mr. Salas is a wonderful teacher. He uses everyday events and personal experiences to understand the information! His test are hard but only because they are all fill in the blank. He makes you want to come to class. BY AR THE BEST TEACHER.
By far the best teacher I have ever had. Very passionate about history, his lectures are clear and very funny. He is very good looking to the point where I am excited to come to his class every day! :)
BEST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!! Take him! He's not easy but his class is worth it! He makes the material interesting and easy to understand. You won't regret it!
Mr. Salas is truly a wonderful teacher. He has such a passion for teaching. I wish all my other teachers were as passionate as he is. Take him. He will give you the information you need to know. But his test are not easy. So be prepared to study everything.
Mr. Salas is the greatest professor I have ever had, simply because he teaches on a deeper level. He's incredibly passionate and socially aware. There are 3 tests and one essay. No fill in the blanks or multiple choice, just strictly identifying terms from your own knowledge. His class is challenging, but well worth it.
I hated history when I started this class. Mr. Salas is able to keep my attention during class because he is so passionate about it. The class is easy if you SHOW UP and TAKE NOTES and STUDY!!!! Common sense stuff. He wants you to succeed and as long as you communicate he will work with you. I highly recommend him.
I loved this class! I never learned so much about history until I took his class. He's very, very entertaining and hilarious. I looked forward going to his class everyday. Just make sure you study well, to the point you are confident. He let us watch good movies for extra credit. He really made you think bout life in a very entertaining fashion.
Stand up comedy while you are being educated. Best lecturer I've ever had.
Most genuine teacher I have ever had. No doubt my favorite class ever.
Best class ever. Mr Salas changed my life even if he is a liberal. Just prepare to use your common sense filter and you will be fine disregarding his biases. Great lectures, learned a lot.
Mr. Salas' class is an interesting and phenomenal take on U.S history. His view on our history is rough and he constantly points out all of our wrong doings which is awesome. His in class discussions are always open ended and encouraged.
A teacher that truky cares more about who you come than what grade you get, not to say that his class is not educational. he is colloquial and fun, and very smart.
If you want to actually learn something in class, take Mr. Salas. He is definitely the best history teacher I ever had.
Great professor! Do not take him if you are not willing to put in a lot of study time. It is a great class and you will learn a lot from him but again it does require a lot of work. The class is definitely worth the work and was by far my favorite class both semesters that I took him.
Great teacher, very interesting and will grab your attention. However this is not an easy class. He expects a lot and is HARD. All test are essay format and Blue book is required. NO multiple choice. He did up my game though!
One of the best professors I've ever had. I've learned more in his class in one semester than I have ever learned in any other history class. He makes his classes fun and interesting. There is only one essay and 3 tests that are not multiple choice they're hard so you must take time to study and attend class. He gives plenty of easy extra credit.
GREAT TEACHER. I have always hated History class, but he is by far the best teacher I've ever had! Must take
Mr. Salas is excellent. He made history very easy, and interesting. Thank you and God bless.
Couldn't have asked for a better teacher! He is extremely funny and is truly passionate about history! Lectures are very interesting and tests are difficult if you do not study! No Textbook Needed. I recommend him to everyone.
He is the best teacher I have had! He makes the class interesting, he makes you want to learn more! If you get him as a teacher you are lucky! Don't let his humor and wit deceive you, he makes his test challenging.
BEST PROFESSOR YOU'LL EVER HAVE !! HE MADE THE CLASS EASY TO FOLLOW AND UNDERSTAND. TESTS ARE HARD IF YOU DONT STUDY OF COURSE.
Wonderful professor who has got it together. No multiple choice. He says "take your glitter and glue elsewhere." This is college y'all. Write your essays. Know the key terms. Come to class, take the test and make a good grade. It's not hard if you do the work that YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO.
He is literally my favorite teacher I've ever had. I took his Dual Credit U.S. History, and I hate history, but he made it SO interesting and fun. He's very passionate about his class and loves to teach. I wish he could teach me everything forever.
Man I really wish I had the chance to take him again in 1302 but he just wasn't available. He is a very outstanding, entertaining and just an awesome teacher. I wish he could teach me everything. His class is challenging but very fun. If you study and don't slack off, you'll do fine. His class is not for the faint of heart.
I love Mr. Salas so much, he is literally the best professor I've ever had and this is my fourth year of college. Everyday I'm in tears from laughing at him. He says the craziest things, hahaha and he's very passionate about what he's teaching. You not only learn history, but amazing life lessons as well. Plus, he's super attractive
I love love love love love and love him!! He could teach me anything, even the letters of the alphabet and I would still be interested. His class is almost like stand up comedy while learning. The rumor about his test being hard is ridiculous, if you study your notes after every class, you'll definetly end up with an A, I love him.
I loved his class and rave about him all the time! He grabs and keep your attention during lecture. Definitely would take again!! oh and he kinda look like Johnny Deep
Seriously, the BEST teacher I have taken. Mr. Salas is so passionate about what he teaches and his lectures are amazing. It makes you think outside the norm. His test are fairly difficult but if you listen and study you'll do just fine! He gives extra credit and is really understanding. Plus... he's hot.... and hilarious
he is nice professor. His exams are not multiple choice. One paper to turn in and 4 exams include final. One essay to write and answering short terms in each exam. You have to take notes every class for study.
In the beginning of the class, Mr. Salas will inform you that this class will not be easy. He will test your ability as a student and through his course you will become better as a whole. At first he is very intense but he lets you know that he is there for you. Hard Class? Yes. Is he a good teacher? Yes. If you work hard you will pass. I promise.
He is Orlando Bloom's doppelganger and he's HILARIOUS. Lectures are amazing but tests are not easy. There are 3 tests and 1 paper and that's it. Extra credit is offered. He's straight up with you about everything from the first day but stick around, his class is worth every night you study. Taking him again for 1302.
his notes are very easy to right down, although it may seem like a lot. if you study you will pass.
He's a really nice guy, I'm looking forward to taking 1302 with him.
3 EXAMS, 1 ESSAY, 4 TOTAL GRADES. In 4mo. this man has changed my life & my major.. unfortunately, my last name stayed as is:( Jk! Though his lectures are very comical, you will quickly learn that his expectations are not to be underestimated. In order to succeed in his class you will need to know "What it is? What it did? Why it's significant?"
AWESOME PROFESSOR AND HE'S A REAL CUTIE! I REALLY ENJOYED HIS GHETTO-FABULOUS HUMOR! YOU DON'T NEED THE BOOK BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS AND TAKE GOOD NOTES! ASK QUESTIONS AND STUDY FOR THE WRITTEN EXAMS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EASY! I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM.
I wish I can teach me all subjects!! This guy is amazing!
His class is very fun and he is very energetic. I personally have trouble showing up to classes but if you are good student with regular attendance getting an A is possible. I ended up with a B but that is after missing loads of class. The way he test gave you valuable skills and challenges you.
He'll probably never say it but I feel like he's a black guy trapped in a Hispanic guys body. He's definitely my favorite professor I've ever had. Salas is the man!
This is the easiest class I've ever taken. He goes on rants all time that have nothing to do with the subject. Easy memorization of notes. The tests consist of identifications of key words and an essay question of which he gives you the prompt. He is very pompous and self entitled but if you put in the work to cram the night before, it's very easy.
He isn't strict on attendance but there is no way that you will pass if you don't show up. Have your laptop powered up because you will take an excessive amount of notes. He is funny and has an awesome energy. Study hard, & ask questions if you're unsure about something. His exams are not multiple choice so STUDY or ask someone else for good notes!
Amazing professor! Lectures were entertaining and held my attention! Mr. Salas definitely has the gift of teaching. You'll learn the material without feeling like you're learning. Exams are essays, but don't let that scare you off. If you're not a strong writer, Mr. Salas will gladly work with you to improve. A+ instructor.
Probably the only one of my college professors I'm going to remember 10 years from now.
I'm not sure what keeps my attention more, his sense of humor or his attractiveness... Great professor, I took him for 1301 & 1302!
He is awesome! Definitely somebody that we can all relate to. His lectures are very enjoyable. I find myself looking forward to his classes. I learn a lot from him. MAKE SURE YOU STUDY OR YOU WILL FAIL. There's only 4 grades.. 3 exams & an essay. The exams aren't multiple choice & you have to write out ID's & an essay.. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!!!!!
I selected "yeah" for HOTNESS cause I totally had a crush on him. Mr. Salas made me believe in myself & not many professors do that for their students. I learned HISTORY and not bias opinions. He once asked his toddler "why do we fall down?" she answered "to get back up". For someone who has fallen down quite a bit, I needed to hear that. Hats Off!
So pretty much everyone has said why they think Salas is amazing and they are all right. He's passionate about his teachings and the way he teaches makes you think. He has to be my favorite teacher by far.
Mr. Salas taught me how to really work and study hard for something and it paid off. Tip: Make sure to study at least 1 week before the exam. But overall AMAZING teacher, HILARIOUS, and you truly learn a lot about history from this man. TAKE!
He is simply amazing. I took him for 1301 and 1302. He's hilarious and changes your life. 3 Tests and 1 Essay, basically 4 grades. His tests are definitions and 1 essay whose prompts he gives you weeks before the test. It's up to you to study and master it. It doesn't get any better than Salas. P.S. he's beautiful
I took Mr. Salas for both 1301 and 1302 he is a great professor funny lectures I enjoyed his class very much! He gives 3 essay exams and one paper so you must study! However, he gives extra credit which helps. I highly recommend him!
Mr. Salas is my favorite professor of all my professorsteachers ever. He is incredibly helpful if you need it, but his tests are pretty hard. I wouldn't take this class if you're not ready to work for your grade. There are only three tests and one paper, but he makes the paper an easy 100. I would (and do) recommend him to everyone! He's the best!
Mr. Salas is really passionate about teaching and history, so the lectures are great. He only gives three tests and one paper. Be prepared to study and work for an A. Great class if you like history.
If History is boring, then take Salas. You will grow to love history! He makes it so interesting, & he is so hilarious! You will never fall asleep. The tests are tough, but if you just go to class and listen, you will be fine. There are a couple opportunities for extra credit, and there is no homework. If you know about Malcolm X, he will love you!
He knows how to keep your attention throughout the entire lecture, there is not one quiet moment with him. He's extremely passionate about what he teaches and it shows; if you have any questions or concerns he's always there. Show up, take notes, and study or you won't pass. Don't like history? Take him! He'll definitely change that.
He is by far the best professor at tcc. I seriously learned so much from him. He is so passionate about history and he helps you understand. He is really great I would totally take him again. His lectures are also hilarious! don't skip! you need the notes for the tests! always give him feedback as well and ask for help when in need!!
He's so passionate about history, and he makes you so interested in it! Fun Lectures, you get to business but he makes it interesting! I love this guy!!!!! Best teacher on campus!
Absolutely loved this course. I've never had a professor who can give a lecture as well as he can. He doesn't post the power points online so you can't skip but you won't want to anyways. He has 3 exams and one project and his goal is to have you learn something. Take decent notes and study and you can definitely get an A.
Absolutely loved his class. He's super funny which makes his lectures enjoyable. I don't recommend skipping cause his PP aren't online. Exams can be intimidating at first but once you take one you get the hang of it. The class is what you make it! Pay attention and study every once in awhile and you will do fine :)
Hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had ! If you love history TAKE SALAS, even if you don't this class will make you fall in love with history. You have to work for your grade , it's not an easy A passing class but you can get an A if you work for it, but it's so interesting so there is no reason you should fail. TAKE SALAS he's AWESOME
I was *never* interested in History until I took Professor Salas' class. That's really all that needs to be said. Lectures are hilarious and entertaining - you'll learn the material without feeling like you're learning. I would take his class again in a heartbeat!
I had no desire to learn history whats so ever, but once i took his class my whole perspective changed! Although his test aren't the easiest, just showing up to class and taking time to study you will do fine. He makes the class so interesting it definitely not hard to lose interest. Just study and show up to class!!
Really cool person and amazing teacher. Does an excellent job at making current issue references, which helps a lot. The tests are a little tough if you're not a great writer, like me. He does choose one essay question and helps with an outline, though that essay will not be the one for the test. Take good notes and you should be fine.
Probably the best professor I've had. There should be more professors like him out there in the world. Makes the class highly entertaining, understandable analogies and examples. History finally became something that I love because of Salas.
Mr. Salas is the best teacher you'll ever take, he's definitely worth taking!! He lectures in a way that makes the material easy to understand and is entertaining. 1 paper to do, and 3 tests that consists of terms in which you'll state "what it is, What it did and why it's significant. And there's an essay part to it. Definitely take him!!
Easily one of the most interesting class i have taken mr. salas puts on a show while he lectures, very hard to loose focus and not learn the material. Test are not multiple choice but you should do fine.
Great professor. Makes history very interesting and funny, never went to a class that was boring. You will have to study hard it's definitely not an easy A but the content of the classroom discussions will leave you actually understanding the material, rather then an easy A multiple choice class. Take him if you're serious about school and learning
Eric Salas is my Faviroute proffesor of all TIME! His lectures are amazing, I would always be excited to be in his class. He is very entertaining and connects with students well. You will learn effortlessly in class. His test are not that hard, just take notes and show up for class.
I took Professor Salas for both HIST 1301 and 1302. He is a great teacher! I enjoyed his lectures very much and learned alot from him. He gives 3 essay tests and one paper. No need for a book and always make sure you know what it is, what did it do, and why is it significant!
He's awesome, funny and he knows his stuff. He makes coming to class interesting. Just make sure you take notes and you would be fine
BESTTT teacher hands down. He is very funny and his lectures are great. You don't want to miss any of his classes just because they are very entertaining. There is not any homework behinds one essay he makes you write. There are only 3 tests all semester which includes the final. Tests are tough but easy if you study. Great teacher would take again
He is hands down one of the best professors! Great lectures, he makes the time fly by!
Professor Salas is amazing at what he does. He really made me enjoy learning about history. He teaches it in a different way than what you would expect. It is not an easy class, but if you study your notes and make flashcards of the ID's he tells you to underline, you will do well. Only 3 tests, half ID's and half essay. Highly recommend Salas.
This teacher is amazing. I was so bad at history and didn't know anything until i took his class. (1301 and 1302) His looks are just a bonus. His lectures are really interesting and funny and i actually looked forward to his class. He's the first professor i've rated because he deserves it.
He gives out three tests and one paper; the paper is an easy A as long as you follow the criteria. For every test answer make sure that youre very specific. He wants to know what it is, what it did, and why is it significant for each term. Get ready to memorize about 80 terms for each test.
Do yourself a favor and take Mr. Salas for every class you can. His information is clear and well articulated. There are no surprises on the exams ("What is it? What did it do? Significance?"). Only two exams and one opinionated term paper. Expect to learn more than you ever have in any other history class (or any class for that matter).
Mr. Salas was by far my best teacher. He loves listening to others and helping as much as he can. Great guy, his passion for history really reflects on what a great teacher he is. I loved his lectures, study the material and you will do great all his stuff is short answer but its totally worth it. Best teacher for sure. Get his class if you can!
Great teacher and very funny but extremely biased. Only 4 grades but grades extremely harsh since grades are based on 3 tests and a paper. I'm a straight A student and my first test was ripped apart. Good professor but avoid if you want to learn history. He's much more passionate speaking about civil rights in history than the major events.
Mr. Salas is a great teacher very in depth and very passionate you'll know right away what he went to college for. Overall great teacher tough grader but worth it just pay attention like your suppose to in school and you'll be fine or not.
Professor Salas is one of the most AMAZING professors ever! I wish I could've taken him for 1301! He only gives three exams and makes you write a paper over one of his assigned documents. With determination, I left his class easily with an A. He doesn't sugar-coat anything and teaches the REAL truth about US History, even the bad, so be prepared!
Omg Mrs. Salas is the best professor ever! I never missed his class because it was worth showing up. I took both history 1301 and 1302, I got A's in both. 3 exams and one easy essay!
Hilarious Instructor, even if you hate history he'll make make you love and appreciate the beauty of history. 3tests and one essay. All tests are identifying specific terms he asks for (10 terms and one essay) Study! take the class seriously(as you should for all classes), or you WILLnot pass. Responsive to emails, recommend going to his office.
Took him for 1301 and 1302. He's crystal clear on what he expects on the test. No multiple choice, and an essay will be on there. He specifically does this so you can learn instead of just guessing C. I suggest attending class everyday because he tells you the significance of what will be on the test.
When you take his tests, be sure to be very detailed. He will take off points for forgetting a small detail. He's very funny and makes the class fun. He gave a couple of extra credit opportunities. I only recommend his class if you're prepared to study and want to trade easiness for enjoyment of the class
What it is? What it did? what is the significance I very recommend you take his class, while the tests are hard, the trade in is that you get one of the most funniest and inspiring teachers of all times.
The best teacher I have ever taken. Is extremely passionate about history and really sucks you into the story. His tests are really easy if you study hard for them. It's alot of critical thinking. As a bonus, he's and Orlando Bloom look alike.
One of the best professors out there. He's super funny and makes history really interesting. His tests are hard but if you study you will get good grades. If you ever need help he will definitely help. Definitely recommend this professor!
He uses a lot of analogies that students can relate to which makes the class much more interesting. He knows how to explain materials in a fun way that's not boring. If you pay attention and study, you'll get an easy A.
He's a really caring teacher. But his tests are a different level. Your only grades are 4 tests and one essay. I went to class everyday to listen to his lectures and I still ended up failing the course. I got an A on the essay but his tests are difficult. If you hate history, don't take this class! He is very picky on grading. I studied and failed.
HILARIOUS!! Mr. Salas hands down has to be the best professor I've had yet. I've learn more about history in his class than I've learned all my life. He's very passionate and relate the lectures to present day people and events. He has three test and one primary essay. His tests are tough but you can pass if you study.
He's a hilarious teacher. Attendance wasn't mandatory but the way he lectures makes you want to go to class. Lectures are genuinely fun but don't get me wrong, they're super chock full of test material too. He's just all around a great, funny guy.
If you aren't willing to put the work in this class you won't get a grade A handed to you, you actually learn a lot in his class. He LOVES what he does and the way he lectures shows that he does. You WILL leave this class with some sort of new knowledge or information. He's great at what he does. If you actually want to learn take this class.
If you just want to get over this class, don't take him. His tests aren't multiple choice and you need to know PERFECTLY what a definition is. He is the pickiest grader I have ever taken. I studied so hard for his tests but I failed. It's a hard class! I regret taking him.
One of the greatest teachers I have ever had. Salas inspires me to become more educated in the social issues of our country. I admire the way he teaches because students can relate to the examples he uses in his lectures. He is in every sense of the term a good teacher. Also he looks like a combination of Orlando Bloom & Giotto Calendoli. Google it
Eric Salas is one of the best instructors I ever had. He gives great detail in what you are being taught. If you go to class and pay attention to what he is saying and write the terms that he says to "underline", then you will have no problem doing the work. There are 3 essays and the final is to define terms. DO NOT be intimidated!
I took him last semester and failed due to him not grading me properly, I did everything but it wasn't exactly what he wanted? Even though it was everything in his power points, he gets off subject and doesn't make sense sometimes. He's funny but I really wanted to learn something in this class. not get tested to fail without proper teaching.
Eric Salas is a beast at teaching i took him for HIST 1301 and 1302 in the summer. if you hate history take him. His approach of teaching makes it easier for you to understand what happened instead of reading in the book. if you pay attention in class and ACTUALLY study before the test its a easy A. More professors should be like him.
Salas is a great teacher and all, as in his personality is great. However when it comes to tests it is the worst. I studied so hard for his tests and yet I failed every time. I would add in the right info. BUT to him it was not "enough." I have a really bad anxiety and his tests did not help me at all sorry. Studying was useless.
Really good guy and I loved his class. His lectures are amazing and you really do learn. Leading up to the test you learn key words and need to know what it is? what did it do? and why is it significant? STUDY. DO NOT SKIP CLASS. I skipped toooo much and my grade was horrible. I failed his class. I would take him again tho.. Good luck yall!
Mr. Salas is a great professor. Smart, hilarious, intelligent, knows his stuff. His tests aren't that difficult if you actually put in the effort to study. On tests you must identify terms: What it is, what it did, and why it is significant, as well as a short in class essay over one of three questions. Would recommend to anybody
His grading is tough but if you study enough you'll pass. His lectures are amazing, he teaches in a way you'll understand more easily.
Best professor I have ever had. Professor Salas is possibly the best history professor on campus., you have to put in effort to pass but with his amazing lecture, intelligence and hilarious personality you won't have a hard time passing his class. No homework, only 3 exams.
Very specific with exam grades but as long as you attend class and pay attention to the lectures you should be fine. He genuinely cares about his students and it shows throughout. Salas is an amazing professor! He'll cut up in the middle of a lecture even at the expense of himself however, he thirsts for knowledge and to bestow knowledge on others.
Mr. Salar is probably the best professor I have ever had. He is hilarious, and his lectures are NEVER boring. He is very clear about what he wants on the test, so if you follow his directions, pay attention in class, and study you can get an A. If you want to learn and have fun at the same time, you need to take his class. Best professor Ever!
Notes all class- but tells you exactly what to underline to study for tests! Offered us a couple extra credit for on-campus seminars that came up.
Professor Salas is possibly the best professor at TCCD. He is hilarious, very outspoken and not your typical lecture class. To get the most out of this class talk with him, participate in class and come with an open mind. He is expressive of his views but does not push anything on to his students. Be prepared to write in your answers, no scantrons
The only good thing about his class was his sense of humor. He's very funny. But when it comes to test... no matter how much i would study I would fail his test. He would want specific answers and or my answers wouldn't be enough. And his essay part were on God really hard!! I don't advice anyone to take his class
He's a really graet teacher and probably the best U.S History teacher I've ever had. He's hilarious and isn't very strict. You really have to pay attention in his class when he tells you what to underline. He has inspired me to become a more open minded person.
His class is not hard if you put the work into it. He will make it fun to be in class while making you critically think about the material, be ready to hear stories about Johanna. Relates to a lot of analogies which makes him appear as a philosopher too! I would say a MUST take class.
If you show up to class, pay attention and study you will pass. He has a heavy lecture but he is very passionate and will make you in tune to what he is saying. He is very clear on what he expects out of the tests and essays. Best Professor I have ever had.
His lectures are everything and low key he is so cute
Literally the best teacher ever. His lectures are amazing and really help to remember the subject. His tests are a little difficult if you have a really hard time memorizing things, but even so, he is very lenient as long as you do what he asks. Took for Hist 1 and 2 because he is that amazing.
Eric Salas is by FAR the best professor ever! He turns what could be a difficult subject, history, and turns it into a new experience every class. There are 4 exams, all hand written. You will either hand write definitions for terms and people, or write an essay live in class on one of 3-4 pre-given prompts. Very easy A
TAKE HIM!!!!! He is so funny and is so passionate about what he teaches. But one small flaw is they're is very few grades. If you don't have a sense of humor, DO NOT take him. He takes on many personas during class, so don't be offended by them. No textbook, but the test format is hard (what it is, what it did, and why is it significant)
A great professor! He's hilarious, and extremely engaging, he interacts with us on a personal level, tells jokes and stories, so it isn't just "lecture-lecture-lecture" for the entire class. I love history, and he makes me enjoy it even more; there's no textbook, but you MUST go to class to get the key terms and notes; if not, you won't pass.
Attendance is not mandatory but if you skip the class you wont pass. Underline the words he told you to underline and be specific about what it is, what it did and why its significance (mwf class)
For 1301 I made a B because it was a little bit tough since I wasn't sure how his tests were like, but for 1302 I knew exactly what he was looking for and I got an A ! He is very funny and will make you want to go to lecture. He has 3 tests, one writing assignment that is not hard at all. Tests are a little bit hard, but you can do it!
Mr. Salas is a good teacher he is a tough grader but he gives you clear material to study there is no multiple choice tests so you do have to study harder than usually and I mean study hard!!!!! he's very picky but he really does make the class fun and gives clear lectures .
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! one of the best at TCC. he teaches in detail and many people find him difficult because he doesn't give multiple choice. you have to work hard, its not an easy A. his classes are fun and he's really funny and so it's not that bad after all
Eric Salas, a great teacher and a philosopher, he is such a good teacher i will take his history 1301, I took him for summer and the only downside is that we didn't learn every thing the professor was supposed to teach because we ran out of time. He is a great teacher you need to learn What it is? What it did? ANd the significance?
Very fun lectures because they are very interactive. He makes it interessting and relatable.
Professor Salas is AMAZING!! History is not a favorite subject of mine but he made his lectures so interesting and relatable!! For exams, you have to know what it is, what it did, and why it is significant (all short answers) and an essay. Totally recommend!
Best teacher I've ever had. Makes class interesting, trust you won't be falling asleep in class. You'll enjoy hearing it all. He says nothing but the truth and will inspire you. Sincerely the best! Study, study, study! & go to class! No multiple choice. Know what it is, what it did and significance. All written out and essay except for last test.
Take him! He is hilarious, and (not to sound corny) makes history come alive. He is so passionate about what he teaches. The textbook is not needed, and the tests are written, meaning it is all about definitions (what it is, what it does, how is it significant). If you can do that then you will be fine.
"Good is good when it's good for you" as Mr. Salas would say. I absolutely LOVE him! I took him and Mr. Brown in a team taught course of History and Speech. It was a lot of fun, and Mr. Salas is HILARIOUS! He really makes history enjoyable, and he really makes you think about the things you say and do. No one makes history come alive like him.
I loved his class and I will take him again if I had too!!!
Extraordinary instructor! His class are not only very informative, but they are also supplemental to learn different point of views of history (very controversial ones). His test are straight forward. Not a hard grader. MIGHT give class extra credit. Very interesting class.
He is really passionate about what he teaches. He makes you think, and question everything (but in a good way). Would totally take again!
Eric Salas, is an okay professor. But I wouldn't take him because he does not give you homework or anything to try to know the information. He just gives you a lecture and that's it, no homework or assignments to do. He doesn't even give you extra credit. He expects you to know the information after he tells you. I recommend no one to take him.
History is my favorite subject and I'm glad I finally found a teacher who's as passionate about it as I am! His lectures had me dying with laughter every day. I thought the tests were pretty easy but they're not multiple choice, so if you're a lazy type, you may have challenge there. He's super easy to pay attention though.
He's a very cool and hilarious instructor. Is very engaging, interesting and down to earth in lectures. Makes the material easy to understand. Is very clear and consistent on the grading criteria. So if you actually show up to class, take notes over the highlight he gives you in his lectures for what will be on the test and study, You'll pass.
Took Mr. Salas's class during this wintermester and he is one of the best professors I've ever had the honor to meet. He doesn't teach History alone. He teaches you how to write, how to think critically, how to identify historical patterns in our present-day politics. He's a great philosopher. Tip: listen to his amazing lectures & take good notes.
Had him for both history 1301 and 1302. Great professor, he's really good at getting information locked in during his lectures because he's hilarious. You wouldn't want to miss a lecture. He is a tough grader so make sure you know your stuff.
Mr. Salas is the BEST professor I've had. He is very knowledgeable of the subject. I took him during winter mester, although it was a lot of material i made an A+. Yes he gives a lot of information but he tells you whats IMPORTANT. He is very inspirational as well and he cares about his students. He makes class very interesting.
Awesommmmee
Mr. Salas is the best teacher I have ever had in my entire life! He's honest, funny, caring, respectful, and a great listener. There is no one else I would rather have as a professor. I have had a lot of fun with him this past year. There is work involved for the A but it really isn't hard. Study and provide DETAILS! Take this professor if you can!
He is the greatest teacher you could ever take at tcc. He is so funny and knows how to teach for everyone to stay focus and engaged in the class. You only have 3 tests in the class and 1 major paper so its not a lot of work you just have to make sure to know the material since there isnt a lot of things to score. TAKE HIM if you get the chance!!
Gives amazing lectures, tests are easy if you come to class and take good notes.
Took him for a maymester and he was great. It was pretty much like listening to a stand up comedian every day.
Hes alright. I wouldnt take him again only because he doesnt grade fairly, good lectures. Tests are challenging if you dont study took him for maymester. He can get off topic and I can tell he thinks of himself highly. Made a C.
Salas is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history, but also hilarious and relatable. I took his class not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. He teaches you to think critically above all else. Be prepared to take notes and go over them. Engage in class and ask questions; his expectations for grading are made very clear.
he is awesome i love him. he is so funny and he makes history interesting and engaging . he makes a lot of jokes and he makes things fun. definitely take his class. he gives you the terms to study for test.
I like Professor Salas but he is a really tough grader and he says thing that come off offensive to the class. funny but loud and gets off subject and not clear in what he wants in the answers. Dont skip. He is judgmental to certain people. I wouldnt take again. I study and Its a hard class and all short answer. want this semester to be over!
Coolest history professor Ive ever had, taking him again next semester for history 1302
Salas has good attributes like lectures and his ability to connect with younger students. However I'm an older individual. I wish he spent more time on the actual material instead of getting off topic so much. He also comes off really conceded. I study so hard, I only get so many words to write. I wouldn't take again, Not a good semester for him
I'm a history major and I think he is good but his tests are all short answer. Boring. He expects too much and doesn't give you good feedback unless you are a favorite. Not sure if I will take him again or just look for someone with a PHD who knows what they are discussing and talking about. He speaks on things that are not always factual.
His lectures were amazing and he says some funny stuff though if you're someone who gets offended by absolutely everything you may be put off. He gives you clear grading expectations and opportunities for extra credit. You just have to study, but you're in college what do you expect?
So with Salas... his lectures are pretty amazing! So he has 3 Tests and each test has definitions and an Essay! for the definitions he asks u to explain.. What it is? What it did? and Why is it significant! thats all u write for the ID's.. then the essay but he gives u ahead of time!! Awesome teacher pretty straight forward! Just LISTEN thats all..
Mr. Salas is a cool guy but the way he grades if its not exactly how he wants he will count off. He provides notes but its mainly in the lecture. Gives extra credit. I wasnt as impressed as people were talking about. I can tell he is very high strung and into himself. He can come off cocky and judgmental hes okay, not sure if I will take again
An amazing teacher! He is knowledgeable and intelligent. His jokes make you think the whole picture and the human nature behind the events. He makes history interesting. Tests are straightforward. For each test, there are about 15-20 terms out of 50-60 terms given in lecture.
Eric Salas is a cooool professor. I took him awhile back & I always will remember him as funny and pretty down to earth, He really just wants to make people laugh & enjoy history. I think one of his best jokes was about uncooked chicken thighs. He expects u to know the material or u don't. Rly cooool & speaks clearly about what he wants. Take him.
I can't even begin to emphasize how much I love this professor. If you are looking for an easy A and to slack off, this is NOT the class. Very entertaining professor who incorporates history to everyday life situations. Has 3 exams, all open ended (you need to be in class to know what's going to be in the exam) other than that he's an amazing prof!
Great professor and very though provoking highly recommend
Such a great professor! Super interesting lectures that kept me engaged the entire class. He is hilarious and I could listen to him talk for hours. We only had 3 tests and a paper. Not very difficult IF you study. Study hard for the tests (especially the essay portion). I did pretty alright on the tests cramming all the key terms the night before.
Professor Salas is an amazing professor. His tests are essays and ID's. He is a tough grader however he wants us to be successful. I would defintely take this professor again and would have highly recommend him.
Hes THE BEST! Hes very inspirational and makes you think for yourself. Hes hilarious! Love his lectures. Remember: What it is? What did it do? Why is it significant? You should be able to answer those 3 questions on any word he asks you to underline. No book required!
I didnt see the hype in this professor. Lots of off topic conversations. Can tell he is judgmental and he is never at his office hours. Extremely hard grader as well. I wouldnt take again
I took Mr Salas during Maymester, so that's enough said. He is very funny, and makes class enjoyable, he makes history relevant and ties everything together. He is very racial, however everything he says is true. He was extremely hard grading the 1st test, I could NOT recover with the other 2 tests to reach an A. He wants perfection out of you.
The funniest prof Ive ever had. Still miss him because his lectures were amazing. Highly recommend!!
Enjoyed this professors class. He was great to work with and responded to emails quickly.
I regret taking him! he always responds to my email super late and has not empathy for his student whats so ever! Tough grade and will not care if you fail his class!
While he's very entertaining, his tests are no joke. Mr. Salas definitely makes you earn your grade which can be rewarding if you end up doing well.
He is a very great teacher. He uses personal experiences to relate with the subject, which is very entertaining; making it easier to understand. Although, attendance isnt required; I would go because in one day youll miss out on ALOT. Remember What it is, What it did, and the Significance. It was no easy A, but I managed to make it.
You don't deserve his lectures if you're not willing to work for it! 3 tests, 1 essay. Studied 12+ hours the night before each test and made a 103. I recommend making notecards and repeatedly writing it down on a whiteboard until you have everything memorized. Only 3 tests so it's reasonable to have hard tests. His jokes make you understand more
Prof Salas was very responsive whenever I sent an email, hed respond within a few hours. I took the online wintermester class so we had quizzes due everyday, a PSA, a midterm and a final. Theyre super easy if you do the reading and look over questions missed on the daily quizzes. Overall an awesome experience!
The best of the best. No one can top him. Ive never been interested in history before but he made me WANT to go to class and listen to him lecture. So funny and puts his all into teaching us. Uses current events to relate to the past for better understanding . All you have to do is remember the terms and pay attention. One of a kind professor!
I took this class as a wintermester and it was easy. One open-ended question on the midterm (easy prompts), final exam is all multiple choice, and one essay over an article (easy/ doable). Provides book/ powerpoints and answers emails. Quizlet is your best friend.
Seems like he did not care about his students! Alot of his students in his class barely passed or did not pass. He gave me a C when it was obvious I made a B. I emailed him about it and he fixed it. Tough grader for sure and does not give any feedbacks!
Prof. Salas was awesome. Relies heavily on tests as there are only a few grades in his class so if you mess them up you are screwed. He does a great job of covering the materials though. Do not expect preferential treatment if you get along. If he likes you or not does not matter. You receive the grade you earned.
He was hilarious and explained everything really well. Tests arent multiple choice and you have to study for them in order to pass. I studied for two days before the first test and made a 95. However, his lectures are really funny and easy to understand. definitely recommend!
He is a great teacher and has this charisma to him. He gives great lectures and knows how to keep the class intrigued. His class only consists of 3 tests and 1 essay. i would take him again.
He didnt reply emails most of the time. He is a tough grader. No communication with students on discussion board. I will not take him again.
He is by far the best professor at tcc! He knows so much about history and is able to teach it to us without being boring. Treat your first test like your last and your last test like your first No multiple choice, all terms. He is the funniest person ever. There won't be a class you don't laugh. Take him you wont regret it!
Prof Salas was really good at going into detail on our topics and made it easy for me to understand the content we were learning. You only really need to write down when he tells you to underline something because thats what the quizzes will be based on. Overall hes a really great professor.
super easy class! Quick response to questions!
I took this class during Summer I and Professor Salas was great. All we had were easy quizzes, easy tests (no proctorio) , and one 1000 word essay we had to write. He provided the textbook, so no need to buy anything. Take him!
I loved this class! Simple layout with 5 quizzes, 1 final, and 1 paper. You can tell he really cares about his students. Everything is very clear and easy to follow. Definitely take him if you can!
My review got flagged for some reason so Ill say it again. Do not take this professor. His material is not adequate for online. He doesnt care about his students as I have read below on other negative reviews so I know Im not the only one. Hard material and doesnt respond to emails. Bad communication on his part. Wouldnt take again.
This instructor expects you to read more than you can imagine, and the test are 15 minutes for all the pages you read, you sit in front of a camera like a criminal. His videos are of poor quality, his power point material can't print right. Sorry I am older and I don't think he pays attention to his audience.
the reason am rating him so low because i don't think he cares to much about his student, he lecture videos are poor quality, his powerpoint print out like a mess. the test 10 question 15 minute, camera in your face lol. just write what he say to underline and you should be good. i wish it was more time and more questions. He does not interact .
Don't listen to the reviews below! I'm taking his course online because of COVID-19 and I can honestly say this is the easiest history class I've ever taken. Yes the quizzes are only 10 questions but if you watch the lectures and highlight what he tells you to highlight you'll do perfectly fine. No textbook is needed, just watch the videos!
Professor Salas is a simple professor. His lectures are recorded in advance, so there are not any live meetings. Everything you could possibly need to know is in the syllabus. There are 5 tests, one 1,000 word essay, and no assignments. That being said if you are not good at tests do NOT take his class. If you are good at them though, take him!
I loved this class. His recorded commentary in his lectures is very relatable and enjoyable. We had a few quizzes taken from his videos (lectures) so I recommend taking notes. Get started on your PSA early so you have time to revise it before the deadline. Overall, I enjoyed his class and wish I could take him for HIST 1302.
A large majority of the class grade was based on a single paper that must be written which sucked being its a one time feedback which a huge impact. The rest of the class is extremely easy if you watch the lectures and pay any attention at all.
Grades slow, uses proctor and accuses students of cheating even though they aren't, uncaring, & unfriendly to his students. One lecture went silent for 10 min but we were expected to know the information that we couldn't hear. He gave 6 quizzes with 15 min to complete them, 1 major paper, and a final exam. I strongly suggest skipping this dude.
Take good notes and you'll pass each test. Tests are proctored. One giant essay but it's really easy.
Watch the lectures, take notes, and do the quizzes.
I regretted that I took his online class. The recorded lecture is sometimes indiscernible by the constant noise, is out of historical order, and ENGL1301 level is expected for the essay. The lecture recording is sometimes not related to the class content. However, he is a decent and kind man. I hope he's going to clean up his lecture and materials.
By far the best teacher I've had at this college so far. A warning though; if you're looking for a blowoff class, this isn't it. It's not terribly difficult, but there are no multi-choice exams. He's very passionate when he teaches, and he'll help you when you ask! He makes the course understandable and relatable. Definitely recommend!
One of my favorite professors by far! All PowerPoint slides/videos are available on canvas but you wont want to miss any of his lectures. Never been a fan of history but he definitely had me hooked on every chapter he went over.
Hands down the best teacher at TCC SE! Not only is he absolutely smart but he is so down to earth to the point he can make anything in history so relatable! He makes History so eye opening you want more lecture time with him! He is HARD, but the best kind of Hard! Dont let that scare you, what you put in is what youll get ! Salas youre the best
So my experience with this professor was great. The lectures were actually nice to listen too and he made them very fun and he cracks a lot of jokes and you can definitely tell he enjoys his work however this class is very lecture heavy so if you miss one you better find a way to find the notes. Also only major grades. (3 tests and 1 paper)
Great teacher and funny and the only class I look forward to! However, the class is VERY lecture heavy and and only grades by exams and a paper.
The best professor in TCC SE without question. I struggle with history but he makes the lecture relatable to our generation and it is easy to remember because he relates the term with jokes. If you take good notes and study the term you will pass all the tests. I recommend but be prepared to take good notes.
One of the best professors I have ever had, bar none! He is very clear on what is to be expected in class and you have 3 or 4 tests and one paper. This is a class I always look forward to and I was always encouraged to join in on class discussions and could say my opinion! Truly an amazing professor.
I've had bad experiences with professors and I always thought I would hate college courses but having him for only one semester changed my mind completely! I LOVE his lectures, and his assignments are very simple and so easy. I only had him online so I don't know a lot about him but he seems like a genuinely nice guy and seems very cool.
I absolutely loved Professor Salas' class. I took it over the summer as a dual credit course to get ahead in high school. It wasn't stressful, and his lectures were delightful to listen to. I highly recommend his class to everyone!
Professor Salas was very easy! Everything is done in lecture form online, and while there can be some long lectures if you put speed to 2x it goes by so fast and is still understandable. He makes funny references and his quizzes are only 10 questions each. That is the only work in the class, super easy. The quizzes are monitored
My only regret is not taking him for 1301 too! He is incredibly knowledgeable and truly cares about what he is teaching. Lectures are always very engaging. He uses humor and memorable analogies as well as current events. You only get 4 grades, but he sets you up for success from day one. Very clear expectations. Truly a gem of a history professor
Made history interesting n relatable. Although only having a few grades you really just need to study the words he tells you to underline from the lecture slides, and you will be good. Overall enjoyed the class and look forward to taking him for hist2
Loved taking his class. Worth every moment.
That 5 out of 5 does not lie. Professor Salas is one of the best professors you can take. Professor Salas gave the most engaging lecturers I have ever heard. There wasn't once a time where I dreaded going to History class with professor Salas. His class is not hard once you understand how the tests work.
He is literally the best teacher I've ever taken! I have never been so engaged in any class before taking this one. He uses current events and relates them to history and uses great analogies that stick with you. STUDY THE VOCAB!! Note cards helped me the most. It's super easy to focus in his class because of the storytelling he does as he lectures
If you have to take History 1301, I definitely recommend Mr. Salas. He is soo funny. He actually teaches you the material with his lectures. Be prepared to take lots of notes.. he has 3 major grades but if you take notes and study then you will do fine. I would say take extra time to study on those exam essay prompts.
10\10 professor, great lectures, super engaging, and hilarious! Class isn't mandatory but the test are over the lectures so it's a good idea to go and make sure to take notes. You only have 4 grades in the class but in the lectures, he tells you what's gonna be on the tests and YOU ACTUALLY LEARN THINGS WITH HIS LECTURES. Anyways highly recommend
he is such a good professor and is the one to take for history 1301 & 1302
Took him in summer semester last year and it was great. awesome lectures and he always connects the past to current events to make it easier to remember and show the importance of history. I highly recommend you show up every class because you'll miss a lot if you don't. He uses blue books so make sure you take notes and study before his tests!
Overall a very good professor. He had powerpoints as well as video lectures going into great detail about everything. As long as you listen, this class is very easy!
The best history professor I've ever had. Such engaging, detailed lectures that made history interesting. There are 5 exams plus the final exam so the course is test-heavy, proctored, but they're easy if you listen to the lectures and study the key concepts. You also need to write a 1000-word Primary Source Analysis but overall it's straightforward
Professor Salas cared about History and was a good teacher! Not too many homework assignments, 1 paper. I didn't always agree with his opinions but he seemed open minded and never bashed one side of politics like some teachers have in my experience. Highly recommend, I would take him again.
This guy rules, easily my fav prof. I wish he would start a podcast, bc his lectures are the best. Class is graded off 5 tests a paper and as far as I know theres no makeups. But tests are easy if you listen to the lectures, hes a great teacher. Mr. Salas if you're reading this I am Begging you to start a podcast, I am being so serious plz plz
He is a tough grader but he's great. He is very lecture heavy and can get sidetracked, but he uses examples to make you understand the importance. It's all tests except for one essay. Take your time on the essay, make sure you know the terms he underlines and you'll do fine.
I had him for summer very easygoing and understanding. His lectures are very eye-opening and he is very passionate about History. His grading is good and so are his tests I do warn you they are fill-in-the-blank and one-essay question. Hope this helps!
I don't see how he's a professor, has old recordings of himself talking, doesn't give you any references to look at for you to follow along. He is unprofessional as a professor, uses slang, and bad comparison examples on PowerPoint presentations, with an MP3 file for you to listen to where you follow along. For an online class, do NOT take it.
Professor Salas has high expectations of his students - he gives you all the information you need to get a good grade, but you MUST do the work. His lectures are blunt, but also entertaining, but you HAVE to pay attention. Absolutely enjoyed every minute of his class and am sad I can't take another!
This professor is very interactive and fun. As long as you pay attention in lecture you will do fine on the exams.
Definitely would not recommend him for anyone who wants there grade to be averaged off 4 intensive essays does not provide helpful resources outside of class also extremely unprofessional makes highly inappropriate jokes that doesnt at all pertain to the lecture dont really see how hes a professor at this school.
Best professor of all time. Took Mr.Salas for 1301 and 1302; in Both classes, i was chilling with A+. Theres no textbook, so don't bother reading that. Just go to class and write down the ID terms and briefly summarize each chapter so you can write down the essay portion of the exams. Overall amazing professor and super easy course. TAKE HIM for A+
Professor Salas has been one of the best professors I've ever had. You can tell he really cares about his students understanding US history so that we don't make the mistakes of the past. I appreciate his passion and the way he teaches. He is also very entertaining and makes me want to listen to his lectures.
Best professor in TCC *IF YOU WANT TO LEARN*. If you don't want to learn, his class is not for you. This class will be difficult if you don't have good listening skills and his class consists of 3 tests grade and 1 PSA *ALL WRITTEN NO MULITPLE CHOICE*. Overall, good professor.
His lectures are hilarious, and the hour flies by every time. He genuinely cares about connecting history back then to what is happening now. For tests, they are all written, but he tells you exactly what to expect. You will LEARN in his class. My only issue is that sometimes he went a little too far with his jokes, mocking my religion and beliefs.
I haven't been in school for a better part of a decade and I took Mr Salas. He is fair and hilarious professor. I would take him again for fun and just to here him talk. I recommend definitely. Just work on your writing skills and you will be fine.
AMAZING PROFESSOR! It started off kind of rough but once I stopped slacking off the class was actually super easy! I took his 8-week course, and I would suggest everyone to watch his lecture videos, they really help when it comes to taking the quizzes. Yes, the videos are kind of long but got to suck it up if you want to do well in class.
Get ready to laugh and be inspired by Mr. Salas. He is one of the best teachers I've ever had. This class isn't for everyone, as you will be expected to study and understand the material in order to do well in the exams.
Professor Salas is outstanding! His lessons were fun and very informative. His exams are proctored and he does an amazing job at preparing you for what to expect.
I took him in the summer for history, a fast paced and challenging course that only lasted a month. History is my least favorite, I was expecting to get a crappy grade. But he gives amazing lectures that catches your attention, and he provided all of the slideshows/lectures online. The tests are tough, but he gives you the resources you need.
His powerpoint videos need to be updated, they are during CoVid , mainly I say that because there is some that it's hard to hear due to static of being to close to the microphone or moving around. He is a fast talker. He rewords the quizzes and exams making it hard to pass. He says to underline certain things but they are not on the exams/quizzes.
I wish I had a professor with this kind of attitude for all my classes. The lectures are straight forward and as long as you take the time listen and go over the course work you will pass.
Literally the funniest person I've ever met. His lectures where so enjoyable. The test are a mix of vocabulary words and an essay but as long as you go to class you will be good.
Great personality for a history teacher! For this to have been an online history course, it exceeded my expectations. Professor Salas's lecture's are very engaging and he grades fairly but not easily. If you listen and take notes, you will be fine. He is very diverse and respectable because this course can be touchy for some people.
Best professor I've had in all of TCC, he makes the lesson so fun and breaks down topics more than any other professor has. Class is not easy, you have to attend the lectures and take notes but that will guarantee you pass.
The class was easy and the course was straightforward. Mr. Salas made every class feel enjoyable to go to.
He is hilarious and genuinely enjoyable, but he still takes his grading very seriously. There are opportunities for extra credit (around 20 points), so make sure to take them. Study and pay attention to the exam essay prompts beforehand, because not doing so definitely hinders people's grades.
I took this class for my dual credit class and he was amazing! I genuinely learned history and was excited to come to class. To pass the test you just needed to listen in tbh. It's difficult at first, but if you lock in, it's a test you won't need to worry about. Plus he's hilarious, I laughed in majority of the classes. Definitely recommend
This professor is very inappropriate. His class was not on the hard side, but if he suspects Ai use he will accuse you & make insane comments. I do not recommend. There's better teachers.
Mr. Salas is literally the GOAT. I took his class for both hist 1301 and 1302 and have never had such an enjoyable time in any class. He makes history interesting and you want to pay attention/go to class. Take notes and listen to what he says and you should be good; however, studying is necessary to pass BUT JUST TAKE HIS CLASS!
Mr. Salas's lectures are simple, funny, interesting, and he gives it to you straight. He doesn't ask for much, and grading is fine. Overall, an easy course, a fun teacher that actually teaches, I would definitely recommend. 10/10.
Very good lectures, all of the information, particularly the significance of terms is in his lectures. Only grades are three exams and one essay assignment, so it is like a 'classic' college class. He is funny and knows how to make the information really stick. If you're looking into his class, DO IT.
