Dr. Shiraev is competant and very friendly. Assigns one term paper at the beginning of class, and it is due at the end of the semester. All tests are open notes. Don't skip the test days: you can only make up one test at the end.

He repeats everything twice but other than that hes a good teacher. We had only one paper the whole semester, and basically just watched videos and took notes. He gives study guides for every test with exactly everything that will be on them.

Class is a joke. You don't ever have to do anything, don't even go to class. Go to the end and pick up the photocopied notes and bring your book to the open book tests. The tests are about as challenging as ones I took in 3rd grade

Professor is very easy. 3 Take home exams and 2 open notes take in class exams. The 1st take-in class exam was the hardest of the lot, but in general they are easy. No papers no critical anlaysis of theories no projects no homework only tests. I did not learn anything but then again PSY is not my major anyway.Took the weekend hybrid course, easy A!

If you attend the lecture and read the book you will do very well. He's a great speaker--and made a three hour class interesting.

I assume the reason all of you give him such stellar ratings is because his tests are easy, there's no work outside of lecture, and he's not stringent in the slightest. He is undoubtedly knowledgable in may subjects. He needs to start requiring his student to demonstrate what they've learned, because as for the people in my class, it's NOT much.

Took him for PLS 241 & 242 (International Relations I & II). He teaches political science from an unbelievably unique perspective: he's a dual Russian & American citizen with a PhD. in Psychology. He teaches full-time at George Mason University. He has authored or co-authored 12 renowned books related to psychology, sociology and poli-sci.

Absolutely a great teacher. He gives out power point notes on blackboard for you to print out. Sample questions for the test before you take em. Best part...open note test. definitely take this class for PSY II!!

I took him for both PSY 201 & 202. AWESOME professor. Class is very interesting (lots of slides & videos). Lecture is interesting (c'mon it's psych). 4 tests worth 25 pts each and 5 pt extra credit paper. Open book/notes tests (though I see below that no longer applies! Glad I took him the 1st 6wks). His classes are very interesting. If you do what you have to do you will get an A and you will learn a lot at the same time. He also teaches at GMU. Lecture notes are posted online. Excellent instructor and highly recommended.

Really cool teacher to have! Attendance is not mandatory and I have seen many people only come during test days. You take 4 tests and no final. I ended up with a B, and all I did was follow the study guide he posts on blackboard for each test. A downside is staying attentive for 2 1/2 hours. He is a great teacher and I would recommend taking him!

Professor Shiraev is the best professor alive. He gives 4 test all are open book for about 20 minutes which is all you need. There are 4 exams - 50 q's, 25 points each. You get about 25 min to use your notes and the powerpoints on each exam and you get a study guide for each "session." There are also extra credit opportunities. If you actually want to learn about psych, try another professor. Dr. Shiraev does know his stuff, he's just too easy.

This has been said many times on this page but I think it's worth mentioning: There are only 4 tests. 50 questions each. 25 min of the test is open book. If you get a C on the first, a B on the second, and As on the last two you will pass with a 94"ish". Attendance is added up as extra credit in the end, so it might save you!

BEST PSYCHOLOGY PROF EVER!!! He is super chilled and makes psychology really interesting. 4 tests and you get to use your notes for 1/2 hour but that doesn't mean you don't study! He will prepare you for the tests by going over the lectures and practice questions. If you can't get an A or B, then drop out of college and go back to high school.

Dr. Eric Shiraev is well-known and well-published in his field. I already felt privileged to be in his class alone. His grading is clear, and extra credit (enough to bump you up a letter grade) was given. His lectures are based on his personal and professional experience in addition to the reference, so it's pretty interesting. Great prof!

His exams are very easy. The grading is fair, study guides are helpful. All of the exams' answers can be find in his slides and textbooks. The exams will have 30 minutes open books and laptops. Honestly, you don't have to study before test, just need to read his slides before that. 30 mins open books are enough to get an A. Show up for extra credit

okay here's the run down. You take four test which included the final. He gives you study guides that may have some sample questions on them. And the rest of the study guide just have information on things and people ,you need to read up on which all come from his lectures. Go to each class and he will give you extra credit nit much but will help.

Lecture heavy (if possible, record for review) informative (lecture, slides, textbook), provides detailed study guides, 4 exams throughout the course, if you pay attention, take notes, and take advantage of the study guide you'll have no problem. He is an easy A, I will have to admit that much. I missed class like 3-4 times and yet it was no big deal and I still got away with a B. Other people in my class showed up only the first day and the last day to take the final and that was all lol. I didn't really learn much but hey all is well that ends well.

If you have the textbook the he wrote you're all set. The study guides provided weren't really helpful. Skimming the chapter only once is more than enough to get an A. You get to use the textbook on the tests. Offers extra credit at the end of the course for attendance and a paper.

Professor does recommend a text book for the students to use in class but I did not. If you attend class, pay attention to his slides and lectures you should pass. I respect him very much and appreciate the vast knowledge he shares with his students. He is very calm and easy to talk to. Plus, he offers extra credit. #gem.

probably my favorite professor ive ever taken. very sweet and caring. 4 simple exams and an optional extra credit paper at the end of the semester. Allows you to use your notes for the first 20 minutes of each exam, which is literally all you need. amazing professor!

Study slides, do review packet, & show up on test day and you will pass. Extremely easy A. But worth your while to show up, every once in awhile. He does have interesting videos to connect learning topics.

He offer's extra credit for attendance at the end of the semester and his tests are clear and straight forward. Professor Shiarev is awesome! The class is long but he's lecturing from the powerpoints so you don't have to go if you're responsible enough to read on your own. There's only 4 exams and you can do an assignment for the last one instead. There's also a lot of chances for extra credit. You can tell he cares about his students

Professor Shiraev is very caring and respectful. He says you need a textbook, but you really won't use it. He grades the class based off of 4 tests, 3 tests and the final. The final can be substituted by an essay.1 extra credit assignment. The tests are open note, always, even on the final. No homework at all. Attendance is also extra credit.

He obviously knows his stuff. He looks very caring and accessible. I took him for a 8-week course and the lectures were long, but interesting. Attendance is not mandatory, BUT a few questions in the test can only be answered if you attended class.

Professor Shiraev is the best professor I have had at NOVA. He is so caring and really does want his students to learn. He provides power points so if you miss a class then you will have the opportunity to go over what you missed! Easy grader, big on exams, but provides study guides and they help a lot!

Attendance was not mandatory in this class. Your grade is simply based off of 4 tests. Each test contains questions regarding the lecture, but most are from the textbook. All tests are take-home and open book as well

Prof. Shiraev will make you love psychology even if you didn't like it before. His lectures are amazing and entertaining, and you learn a lot. He is very caring and helpful and is willing to give you an advice if you need it. I really was excited about going to his lectures. Great experience!

His classes are optional and he lectures from the powerpoint, which each test is based on. Tests are straight to the point. Hes great at explaining misunderstood topics. Probably one of the smartest people I know. You have the opportunity to learn a lot from this guy. Definitley take him!

My class was extremely easy because he gave us all exams to take home due to the class being only 8 weeks and he couldn't teach for 2 classes straight. I know our class was a special case so don't go in expecting take home exams because it might happen or it might not. He only grade on 4 exams so do well, EC on attendants and a 3 pg essay.

Is awesome! Took his 8 wk summer class and he ended up canceling class for 2 weeks which is why all his tests were open note/open book. But not sure if his regular tests are openbk. Dis class was graded on 4 exams only, each 25 points ; total of 100 points for course and extra credit. Will definately take him as a prof for my next psy class! #gem

Dr. Eric was super nice and caring. All the tests were take home- no homework, but you have study guides to complete for the test (I never needed them). Final not cumulative (takehome). His lectures were interesting but can get too long sometimes. He is super passionate about the subject and very educated. I loved his class!

this dude is literally the best psy professor at nova, i been taking him for so many different psy classes because i am a psy major, his class are the easiest A ever. attendence is extra credit, miss 3 classes you dont get the extra credit, there are only 4 tests and sometimes he lets you do them at home and oh yeah, tests are open note

Lectures were detailed and he posted the slides online. Extra credit for attendance and 1 extra credit assignment. 4 tests, all open note. We had 2 take home tests. Has a break halfway through so we can stretch, eat a snack, use the bathroom. Take his class, you won't regret it.

All his tests are open note & open book (I never used the book) but some students needed to. Class is graded on 4 exams, 25 points each 100 total points. EC for attendance. Does talk a lot and sometimes about one topic for almost all of class but is an easy A if you put in some effort. Prof Shiraev is a #gem

Professor Eric is a very intelligent and nice man. He has a ton of useful information to offer the class making every lecture very interesting. I look forward to attend his class every week bc the topics that we cover are very interesting. He offers four exams worth 25 points each all open notes or take home exams. Totally worth taking his class!

Prof. Shiraev is a wonderful person who can not only teach you about psychology, but also about how to become a better "you". He is so knowledgeable and caring. I have taken two psychology courses with him and really enjoyed his lectures. Exams are easy if you have your study guide all ready. All the material needed for test is covered in lecture.

Dr. Shireav is one of the best professors I've ever had! He makes his lectures and discussions very enjoyable. The tests were open note and the class before the test he usually went over the study guide (which already has half of the answers). the textbook helps with some questions on the test but you don't need to buy it.

Professor Shiraev gives such compelling lectures. What he talks about is interesting and gives more information than just what's on the board. His tests are all open book and if you're lucky, he lets you take them home. He answers emails every morning and is available to help his students truly succeed. I really respect professor Shiraev.

Prof Shiraev is the nices person. His lecture are interesting. You don't have to buy the textbook but I could recommend checking it out in the library. The test is open notes however some things in the exam he doesn't cover it in the lectures.

His accent can be a bit tough to understand sometimes, but he is a very funny and smart man who is beyond friendly and willing to work with you. He knows his stuff, a gentleman and a scholar are more than appropriate to describe him. He likes to crack an occasional joke or few and hes super funny and makes me laugh beyond belief!

There's no homework ever. Only thing you need to do are the quizzes that he assigns, they are open note and all the answers are on the powerpoints that he uses in class. He offers extra credit too and the assignments for that are super easy. It's impossible to fail.

I'm taking this during Spring 2021 and would recommend this course to everyone. The professor does not take attendance and the only assignments are a quiz each week and an exam instead of a quiz every couple of weeks. His PowerPoints are well oriented and the textbook can be found online.

THE BEST PSYCHOLOGY PROFESSOR!!! His work is SO easy and all his weekly quizzes wore open notes so it's kind of impossible to fail. He also doesn't take attendance but the lectures are good to listen to. You won't regret taking him at all.

Shiraev is a great professor and inspirational person. He teaches from a place of understanding and wanting to inspire you to do and be your best, whatever that is. Good lectures based on his own experience and he is accessible outside of class for any reason. The online class is open book tests and he offers huge extra credit.

Probably the best professor Ive ever had. Online due to COVID. He cares more of his students well-being than them showing up for class and doesnt want his students stressed out. So long as you attend class when you can, read the book and PP and complete the open book exams and quizzes you should pass. Extra credit is offered as well.

Professor Shiraev is an amazing teacher, his lectures are very knowledgeable and hes a very easy going teacher. He does have extra credit in his class towards the end of the semester for those who need a grade boost. Every week you get quizzes that are available on Wednesdays and close on Saturdays at 10 pm. His exams and quizzes are open note.

Take him! Easiest class I've taken & you can take this class with other classes & be stress free. This class consist of 10 quizzes & 4 exams(including final). All open note! You can easily find the answers on the lectures he provides. Don't really need a textbook but I managed to download 1 & it helped a bit. You really have to want to fail to fail

Professor Shiraev is an EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. His lectures are extremely interesting.  The exams are open notes, but he does not cover some topics in the lectures.  I definitely recommend his class.

Prof Shiraev is a good professor and definitely knows a lot about psychology but I found this class to be just a bit too easy. If you're looking for an easy A, I definitely recommend. But if you want just a bit more of a challenge, then look elsewhere. One open note quiz every week . If you miss one, just email him. He'll reopen it for you.

Dr. Shiraev is a great professor class is interesting best but easy class during this Covid-19 situation. Take him again Yay! grades only tests and quizzes with open book. Nice guy to talk to.

Gives an open note quiz every week and 4 total exams that are also open notes. Answers are in his modules and there are only 10 questions per quiz and 20 questions per exam. Gives you an hour to take the quiz and about 2 hours to take the exam, it's super easy!

This is genuinely the easiest class ever. He does talk a lot, and his lectures made me fall asleep sometimes. But tbh the content was pretty interesting. All the quizzes and tests are online & you take them at home. If you're debating taking him, just go for it. It's an easy A.

Shiraev's teaching style is dependent on lectures and slideshows. It was pretty boring at times, but the material itself is interesting. Take notes during lectures to help with weekly quizzes. The quizzes aren't difficult since Shiraev allows open book & notes. Easy A, but don't expect to learn too much (Unless you individually study the textbook).

BEST PROFESSOR AT NVCC, you need to take him for psy 230. This Professor lets quizzes be open notes, light work too. Textbook not required. Take him you will not regret it.

Easy A. Sign up now because people take his class fast. There's no chance of getting anything lower than an "A" or "B" unless you didn't do the quizzes. Quizzes are light work, I just look at the lectures and boom answers (quizzes are open note). He tries to make lectures not so boring like other classes, he's nice too.

If you want to hear from someone who is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in psychology, take him. He is forgiving when it comes to assignments. He does however lecture for pretty much the entire class which is not for everyone (no attendance so just skip), but what he has to say is very interesting to people passionate about psychology.

this guy is actually the biggest blessing i took his class in person and only went in the first few weeks after that i just stoped going and followed with the content online. Attendence isnt mandatory so it was fine. He is very clear on the expectations we have 1 quiz per week and 3 exams everything is online and open note.

This class is very simple and what is expected of you is very clear. All grades were based on 10 quizzes and 4 test. Quizzes were 10 questions and test were 20-30. Attendance was not mandatory and in my opinion not even needed. The professor is very nice and I would highly recommend taking this class.
