I thought he was a great professor. I had a 99 in his class and didn't work that hard for it. He makes you feel comfortable when you are giving a speech and is a very fair grader. ALmost my entire class recieved an A. This class is great and by just going to class you will recieve at least a C. Take Him, he's great and entertaining!

Best teacher ever. Hillarious and really related to the students well. I would definately recomend him. All you have to do is show up for class and do the work that he gives you. The final is a bit of a shocker but if you keep up with the readings and do the thorough study guide that he gives you it is a cinch! p.s. he lets u call him shousee

People either love his class or hate it. Everyday there is a excersise where he makes you go up and do something infront of the class. Stick to the speech set-up he gives you and you will get a good grade. For the group project do something realistic or you will lose credit for an unacceptable idea.

This was the best class I have ever taken at ECU! And it was all b/c of Shouse! We loved this guy... not only is he an awesome teacher but he is hilarious! I made an A in his class! Just go to class and prepare for your speeches (which are sooooo easy) and you will def make an A!

He is funny, use to be a comic. Easy to get a B in the class but hard to get an A. Quizes on the chapter readings are 4 T/F questions.

He's easy as heck, just go to class, take your 4 question quiz which is common sense questions. Don't buy that damn little book you'll never use it. You only have 4 speeches he doesn't grade to hard..Just show up to class and you'll have no problem..

Dont count on an A, unless your perfect but a B is guranteed along as you do your speeches and go to class.

Dr. Shouse is really funny and he makes the class interesting. He takes attendance and you only get 3 absences, so go to class. There are quizzes from the reading that are three true/false questions. He grades pretty harsh on the speeches.

GREAT CLASS!! He makes the class a lot of fun. Do the speeches go to class and you will get at least a B.

Awesome Professor. I got an A in his class, and I just stuied everything that was on the study guides. He gives you all the questions that will be on the exam and evern gives you the answers about a day or two later. Dr. Shouse is absolutely awesome!!! As long as you make an effort, tou should come out of his course with a B!!! Great teacher!

Mr. Shouse is the coolest teacher out there. If you go to his class and take notes you will make hundreds on the tests. He is very down to earth and funny. If you need to take communications this is your teacher!!

Professor Shouse is by far the coolest teacher i've had in College. He a bit wired sometimes, but it quite hilarious. He actually wanted to pursue a career in Comedy, so that should tell you, He's a funny guy. If u go to class and take notes you'll ACE the Test! I was Undecided coming into his class, and i am now minoring in Comm! he's GREAT!

As everyone under me has said he is a great teacher. his exams are exactly the study guide. take notes and you will get an A i recommend going the the classes before the exam day because his reviews basically told u the study guide answers. great teacher funny guy. take him!

Best class I have taken in college. Coolest professor, he's very funny, classroom has a relaxed atmospher. I actually look forward to coming to class everyday.

Online Media Culture and Society. Great class. Lots of work, very interesting. Learned a lot. Dr. Shouse is extremely outspoken and i can see him offending very conservative people easily though, and if you are going to disagree with him better back up your arguments with solid sources

Dr. Shouse rocks!!!! He links topics in class to real world examples. He uses the book and tests on what he covers in class (aka lecture and book). He makes class fun and challenges you to think. He wants you to learn and this class is not stale. If you need to take this class take Dr. Shouse's section.

He is great! He knows how to keep a class of 200 people interested during the lecture! He does tell jokes, but he's not off topic when he does. Really nice and a great speaker! Will probably take another class of his! He goes over each detail and makes it interesting, which is very important in any class.

This class is actually pretty entertaining. Shouse is pretttyyy funny! He also uses a lot of funny clips from youtube (about 2 per class) He's got a great sense of humor, super cool guy. If you want the notes, you gotta go to class, which isn't so bad cause his class is cool. He gives exam reviews that are awesome. TAKE THIS CLASS! Its cool :)

Great teacher. Gives study guide that is exactly like test. Drops lowest grade. All test are 25 multiple choice questions, and there are only 4 of them! Must take him!

Great guy, professional comedian so tries to keep class pretty chill and funny. Shows youtube videos and has notes that arent on BB so you should come to class. Study guides are exactly the tests and theyre only 25 questions. No extra hw, quizzes just those tests. Drops lowest grade. TAKE HIM!

I was nervous about taking a public speaking class and this class made my semester much easier. I feel I can speak in front of a class now even though we wasn't required to in class. Excellent teacher. Register for his class. Easy A and walk out knowing the information.

This guys makes everything so interesting to listen to and want to retain what he says. He doesnt have an attendance policy but that class is usually full because its fun to go too. TAKE HIM! You won't regret it. (except his grad student needs some work)

Good Professor! He makes the material really relatable and he's fun to listen to. You do have to do quite a bit of reading but each class he goes over the material that you were suppose to read so it's very helpful! Test are pretty easy if you've read the material and took notes! He pretty much gives you the questions he's gonna ask on the exam!

Shouse was AWESOME. He's really funny and helpful. And you don't really have to read out of the book to do well. He gives you all the questions that are going to be on every exam (including the final). He's a really nice guy too, made class really enjoyable. And he doesn't take attendance which is also nice!

Even though I took the course online, I imagine he is hot by his speaking style (so, probably not). His assignments are pretty open to interpretation. Overall, I've enjoyed his persuasion theories course.

It was easy even though he graded harshly on the papers. I liked the project but sometimes he sounded pretentious during lectures. Waste of tuition.

Dr. Shouse was an awesome professor. I really enjoyed his class and he kept it interesting. I rarely used the book, but he does get some of his test questions from it, so it would be worth buying. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but you would be stupid not to go because all of his test questions come from his lectures.

Best professor I have ever had. Attendance is not required. However, he makes class so interesting that u want to go. Go to class! You will need it for the exams. 5 exams and a cumulative final. Drops the lowest. Practically gives you the exam questions including the ones of the final. Offers extra credit at the end! Great professor, great class.

Best professor ever! Had him for Fundamentals of COMM and Public Speaking. Very funny and helpful. Tests are easy, he tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams. I never minded going to class! I would highly recommend him.

He is extremely involved in the discussion boards - he keeps it interesting and he really does read and respond to posts unlike most other professors I've had. He is usually critical but his goal is to help you be more open minded. There are 4 papers, pretty vague but allows you to write freely about the text. I enjoyed his class and his humor.

I liked him and he gives good feedback but he is SO tough when it comes to grading papers! I have taken a ton of english classes and made easy A's in them all but i struggled to even make C's and B's on his papers.

Best professor EVER! He is not Prof. Syllabus--doesn't just post the syllabus and you never hear from him again. He ACTUALLY promotes online discussions and gives feedback to force you to think critically (refreshing!). He also doesn't give empty As; you have to do the work (posts, project, 4 short papers), but they were not that hard at all.

TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM!! He gives you every question to the test the class before. Make sure you go to the class after the test too to get back your scantron (he gives you 5 pts EC per scantron at end of semester) Super funny. You write a lot because he doesn't post power points online. Go to class!!! It'll save your grade.

TAKE HIM FOR COMM 2020!!! If you go to class and take notes (preferably on your computer bc test questions come straight from the notes) you will get a great grade!! He gives you the 25 questions that will be on each test, so you just have to find the answers in your notes and study them. Super easy class, he makes his lectures really interesting.

Take this class with Dr. Shouse! Very clear and easy to get into a routine in COMM-3110. Responds to emails fast and engages in DB discussions with the class. Do your work and you will be fine! You do have to read the books and make sure you post over the 250 word minimum on your posts. Think outside of the box! I had a wonderful semester with him!

Super tough grader but overall his feedback taught me how to write a more persuasive paper. I felt like a better writer after completing this course.

Dr. Shouse is amazing. He jokes almost the whole class but explains things good in his lectures. He gives 4 exams and a final. All coming straight from his lectures. The class before the exam he gives you questions to the exam to answer them and study off of it. His exams coming straight from the lectures so don't miss class.

Dr. Shouse provides thought provoking prompts. Guidelines are clear, so if you follow them you will find success. Use the OWL if you need help getting started. You will become a MUCH stronger writer if you take his class- and you will laugh, too!

Dr. Shouse is a stand-up comedian in addition to being a professor, so his lectures are pretty funny. The questions on the exams mostly come straight from the lectures (some come from the book which I didn't have). He basically gives you the questions in the classes before exams. If you go to every class and take notes, you should get an A.

Dr. Shouse's COMM 2010 class was the biggest contributor to my sleep deprivation this semester. Every week a 5 paragraph essay is due, as well as a 5-page paper and an 8-page paper due at the end of the semester. Writing the way Dr. Shouse wants is difficult to learn and time-consuming but he made class fun. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

This class is awesome! COM2020 is fun with this guy! Only complaint is that the test questions can be worded different than you would think.. **NOTICE** If you show up to the class session that follows a test he will give you your test back.. He then will accept those tests at the end of the course for 20 points to your overall grade! EASY A! :)

Literally the poster child for Public Speaking, period! I am so glad I had the chance to take this man and this class! Whenever I speak publicly in the future I know for a fact that a good amount of Dr. Shouse's advice will spill through my speeches. He is also funny! DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK!!!

LOVE HIM! Taking him online for fundamentals of speech comm now. 1 minute speech recording on easy topics, 2 comments on other video speeches, DB under notes for extra credit, 1 midterm & final (super easy if you read the notes) Nice guy, very accessible. would 100% recommend him!

I had a very tough semester and this was the only class I didnt hate going to. Dr. Shouse can be helpful if you go out of your way to talk to him, but either way its a super easy class. I get nervous talking in front of crowds and this class definitely helped with that. Highly recommend!

I loved this class. We were graded by a few assignments and exams, but the grading criteria was clear. As long as you do the study guides/readings and pay attention, you will do just fine!! I feel like I learned many life skills in this class as well.

Very easy class with very little homework. We had 1 Discussion Board each week, a Midterm Exam and a Final Exam. Everything on exams was definitely gone over in previous PowerPoints. As long as you participated in discussion boards and watched the videos, you will be fine.

10/10, sweetest guy ever, such an easy class, easy grader, as long as you participate, you will pass.

Super simple class structure. 90% of the assignments were weekly discussion board which were only graded for the 250 word count, no replying to people nonsense. There were only 3 exams based on the textbooks and videos linked in the discussion prompts.
