Fun class you'll get at least a B. Good teacher, chill guy.
Although attendance is pretty strict, class is not boring and occasionally will end early.
He's a very good and cares what his students think. There is a lot of discussion and debate that goes on and he does a great job facilitating. He expects you to write often and be on time with assignments.
I really enjoyed this class! He is an easy professor who wants you to do well. He always responds to emails fast and gets papers and other assignments back in a timely manner.
He is a good teacher that makes English fun. He finds different ways to teach topics that keep the class interesting. He really enjoys current event topics as well and that is what most of the papers will be based on.
Eric was the first teacher that ever made happy to go to an english class, and it was at 8 am, so that's saying something. He keeps "lectures" entertaining and relevant to todays' world, and incorporates a lot of different types of media and technology. Definitely would recommend for any class.
Professor Stephens is AWESOME!!!!! Seriously, he is so helpful and he just wants his students to learn rhetoric and apply it to the real world. He has great enthusiasm and makes you enjoy coming to class! I highly recommend that people take his class if they want a teacher who is actually passionate about what he teaches!!
Good teacher
Good teacher.
Great lecturer and always there for you if you need help. He understands if errors or problems occur and he never talks down to you if you make a simple mistake. Great class, I highly suggest taking him if you want to learn English and how to use programs that may help your future schooling or career.
Overall good professor, obviously cares about what he's teaching; class can be boring at times and drag on, but it's a pretty easy A as long as you actually do the assignments
Awesome teacher! Really liked how he incorporated current events into class. Make sure you read and do the blogs (they're easy don't worry). Very helpful and approachable!
Good teacher overall, easy A and if you do the work you will pass.
Very engaging and fun class.
His class has a lot of work and some of it seems pointless but it isn't too hard and he will help you as much you need. He does a great job of letting students discuss things as opposed to just lecturing in class. He also keeps topics very relevant.
I am so tired of English class and work but he makes it very engaging and the class doesn't seem long at all. Very helpful and you get half credit just for turning it in on time.
He's very engaging and seems genuinely happy all the time (semi-exhausting for me since I'm not a morning person and I have him at 8 am) but he plays a wide variety of music over the loudspeaker which is nice. He gives a decent amount of work but nothing unmanageable. If you stay on top of your stuff you'll pass.
If you need that mandatory english 1030 credit Eric is the teacher to take! First day of class you will feel overwhelmed when he discusses the magazine and writing projects, but DO NOT DROP. He is so helpful with giving you plenty of time to finish each writing assignment and if you follow instructions, submit work on time and not skip -- A!
Mr. Stephens is a really cool teacher. Everyone says that a teacher is a cool person but not a good teacher, well this man is both. All you have to do is go to class and do the work and you should get an A. Just don't miss more than three days.
Its simple, do your work and stay on top of it and you will be fine. He incorporates a lot of technology into the class and multimedia platform use.
Professor Stephens is a really cool teacher, I never dreaded going to his class. There's a decent amount of work but once you get it done, you're good for the rest of the week. All the work is on the computer. You will get a couple of papers but he really does want you to learn in his class & know how to critique others. Definitely recommend taking
I enjoyed the class, but felt like there was a lot of extra busy work. the work in my other classes combined were about the same amount as would be assigned in this class.
Professor Stephens really cares about his students and creating a good learning environment. If you attend class and do the weekly homework you will pass with ease.
Mr. Stephens is a very tech oriented teacher. A lot of his assignments revolve around you learning to use multiple applications on the computer. This being said, he is very lenient and helpful for those who aren't as tech savvy like me and really works with you to get it done. A lot of work, but if you do it it should be an easy A
Great teacher and has made writing papers fun and class in general fun!
The teacher is super chill and makes class entertaining. He does give busy work, but nothing to time consuming. Overall, the class is an easy A.
Very clear cut professor. Tells you what you need to do and expects you to do it on time. If you do so with decent effort an A is easily achievable. Very recommended.
Over the semester, he gave out 0 actual tests, but there were numerous smaller projects as well as a couple big ones outside of class in place of tests. Group projects are a huge part of the class. Definitely not a typical English class.
This class is genuinely easy. Mr. Stephens really tries to clarify the information he gives you and makes the lectures entertaining to listen to and participate in. He usually only allows 3 unexcused absences but there really isn't a need to miss the class, its an easy A if you show up, participate, and do the weekly videos and assignments.
He's really funny, but he gives a lot of pointless assignments that make a lot of busy work. Overall, the class is pretty easy.
He's a overall good professor! He makes lectures really interesting by bringing in a lot of topics present in culture. Prepare to listen/participate in analyzing/debating every aspect of life haha but it helps you engage. If you ask him for help he will often point you to videos.
He is a pretty laid back teacher. He had deadlines but usually ended up giving a couple more days to get it done. He wasn't too strict and he was helpful.
He's super funny and tries to make class interesting. There is some busy work but most of it takes no time at all so it's easy to get an A. There were no tests or quizzes just a group magazine due at the end of the semester.
Funny guy who does a good job teaching his students how to think and analyze on a deeper level than usual.
Really funny guy, and an interesting class! Attendance is very important, so be sure you're there. He has a lot of small assignments that you might miss if you aren't attentive about them, and a couple long papers towards the end. However, there are no tests or quizzes usually, and a group magazine due at the end of the semester so not too hard!
ENG 1030 is a pretty straightforward class, and Stephens does a great job making it more engaging. Expect homework to be assigned after almost every class. But most of the time the homework assignments are fairly simple. He provides great feedback on work, and will respond quickly if you have any questions or need clarification. Would take again.
Great man, even better teacher. Expects hard work, but is willing to help and guide you through coursework or anything else you might be facing .
Eric is awesome! He is really passionate about rhetoric and does a good job making the class interesting and applicable to your everyday life. He is super understanding and always willing to help! Highly suggest taking him!
I liked him a lot because he's a good guy and listens to his students. All around good teacher who helps with anything you might need. The only actual problem I had was the class itself, most of the work felt like a waste of time that you just had to do anyway. Great teacher though, would take him again.
Eric is very considerate. We had so many extensions and that has helped me a lot. He also runs his class like an experiment so expect assignments to change.
He is a very good teacher and his lectures are good and describe well what needs to be done in the homework. He does give a lot of homework, however, but he is funny which makes his class more entertaining.
He did well with keeping the class entertaining, while still teaching us what we needed to learn. He also did a good job of incorporating different methods of teaching to get different points across.
Good teacher, really explains the information in an engaging and funny way. Does assign a good bit of homework, but most of it is easy.
He is a great and hilarious professor but expect to have a lot of homework. But he does not do any quizzes or exams so the extra homework makes up for it.
I really liked Eric. We didn't have to write many papers, but I still felt like I improved a lot as a writer. He's very liberal if that matters to you.
This class was not super challenging. He made it so that the class was passable and easy but he will not just hand you an A you do have to earn it. Overall, I liked him.
He's a really good professor who teaches with new and ever improving practices. He always looks for feedback from students. If you respect him and his practices as well as come to class with an open mind then this is one of your best classes. He gives a list of all assignments due throughout the semester; complete these and you'll have an A.
Professor Stephens is a great guy that knows what he is talking about. The class is boring at times and you do A LOT of work with Adobe. It isn't hard just and they are easy points, it just takes a bit of time. We only wrote 2 papers total that weren't long at all.
You can tell he puts a lot of effort into the class and he makes sure his students feel like the can come to him for help. I enjoyed the class, even though English is not my favorite subject. Heavy on homework, but it is fairly simple as long as you get it done. As long as you put in effort, you will get a good grade.
He plays music in class and class is actually enjoyable.
A lot of busy work for a pretty pointless class.
Great teacher.
Make some kind of effort and it's an easy A
He really knows what he is talking about and you can tell he is passionate about this subject. He also makes class really fun!
Eric Stephens is an overall great professor who makes it easy to understand difficult topics by relating them to current events, as well as providing his own humorous take on things.
In a way, I actually enjoyed his class. Professor Stephens is not your typical straightforward, boring, "all work, no play" professor. He tries to get to know each person and is quite comical. Be prepared to turn in online homework that takes a little time every week, but it stretches your creativity levels. Great professor!
Good teacher that can keep anyone interested in the topic at hand.
Getting up in the morning to go to his class isn't a drag, but there are a lot of tedious assignments that take up a lot of time. Class was never boring, always doing different activities that corresponded to the step of the writing process we were currently in. As long as you show up to class and put a good effort into your work, you'll do well.
He is a great teacher. His attendance policy is pretty strict but he makes the class enjoyable so you won't want to skip. He grades better than any teacher I've had.
Very unique approach to teaching and making us as students be creative! I thought it was a really cool class that helped me see the world differently.
Fair teacher. Just don't wait.
He is a good professor. Go to class and turn in assignments on time. You will be fine in this class.
Was a great teacher that actually wants to teach you something and his class is basically easy if you do all the work with some effort.
Eric does a good job teaching, and tries to make his class as understandable as possible. Honestly he wants the best fir his students and will help you reach these goals.
Really makes class enjoyable, so it's not a pain to go. Makes the assignments manageable while still informative.
Great class. Engaging lectures. Relates the technical writing skills you learn in class to the real world. As long as you turn in all assignments you will get an A. Creative freedom in projects.
A fantastic teacher who is very helpful and makes what is usually a very boring subject fun.
Made class fun. Enjoyed the zombie focus. Not necessarily hard, but did require some time and work to be put in. If you do the work though, you will get a good grade.
Very interactive and fun teacher.
Hilarious professor who provided a creative class! He was very homework heavy in the beginning that was mainly busy work but class was always fun and entertaining. He is very helpful and would definitely recommend
Eric is a good teacher, but this class will involve lots of reading homework. He keeps the class interesting and the class is centered around a zombie apocalypse, so if you like zombies, take this class!
His theme to the class makes it way more enjoyable.
Great teacher, but his class was a little disorganized, but not too disorganized. This class was a lot more fun the typical English class especially compared to what other people had to do in other technical writing classes. I like that he uses zombies and our projects are mostly based off of what would happen in a zombie outbreak.
Eric was an awesome professor that made an extremely tedious and boring subject way more bearable. There are a lot of assignments that take up a bit of time, but as long as you put in effort and complete them, you'll for sure get an A in the class. You only get 3 absences excused or not.
The class isn't necessarily difficult, but there are a lot of assignments/homework. He's great as a professor, and the fact that the class focused on zombies was a plus.
Did not enjoy him for Technical Writing at all. He spent more time talking about his political views than trying to teach technical writing. The zombie project sounded interesting, but was not fleshed out enough and we were not given enough guidance and ideas on how to complete the project. He told us to make up the guidelines. Too much busy work.
Was a good professor. All the reading was given to you didn't have to pay for books. It was a fun class very entertaining. Do the assignments you can get an A if you miss a hand full you may can still get an A.
Show up to class and you won't have a problem.
Great teacher, very laid back class environment.
Eric Stephens is a great guy! He is hilarious and able to keep the class entertained while still talking about technical stuff like resumes. It was really cool how he integrated Zombies as the theme for the class. It made doing the assignments much more interesting!
Great teacher! Hilarious! Get ready to read a lot and if he continues to do zombies again, get ready to watch a lot of Netflix, which who doesn't want to do that! Really fun and laid back class and if I wasn't graduating, I'd take another class with him.
Fun teacher. You have to participate in class and dont skip more than 3 classes or you will lose points on your final grade. Also you have lots of homework but they are mainly short readings and annotations of the readings. He provided the readings so no Textbook. Our group project was about the Zombie Apocalypse.... and it was pretty fun.
Fun class, better than an average English class. Way too much homework in my opinion but no tests which kind of balance each other out.
The class was entertaining. The assignments are not hard, but are time consuming. He provided all of the readings, which is a plus. Do your work, and you'll have no worries.
Do the assignments, homework, and readings. Most importantly, participate in class and show up. Also, he loves Trump so bring him up a lot, easy A. Lastly, wear a beanie and/or bandanna everyday for extra credit.
The class was quite front-heavy, featuring a lot of reading in the beginning of the semester, with more free-form group projects near the end of the semester. He did great in selecting a topic which would unite all majors (zombies) which was interesting, and made even the boring lectures on technical topics seem interesting.
Eric is great, he's really funny and makes you enjoy coming to class. He comes off as a tough grader and stickler but he is always available to talk to you if you need help or are struggling. He's cool, he gets it.
I was dreading taking this class but Eric makes the material interesting and relevant to society/your career. There is a lot of hw/projects but nothing too difficult. The group project is interesting and fun and actually teaches a lot about business communication.
Great guy. Good material and easy to get along with
Eric was fine for business writing. Nothing is graded to specifically which is great since I haven't had to take an English class since high school.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Gives you work that pertains to the real world and helps you in class. The class is technically an easy A, but you learn so much that it's worth it. Eric really knows his audience and tailors his lessons towards that. If you show up and do the work that's assigned, you will get an A and enjoy yourself.
Lot of assignments for business writing class but they are actually helpful. If you do your work you will do well. He is entertaining and funny in class as well.
Prof Stevens (cha boi Eric) is super friendly and loves to hold topical discussions about current events during class. There's a lot of engagement from the students compared to most other classes. Not a lot of reading but there are weekly online homeworks and weekly group assignments. Most of the work can be done in an hour and a half per week.
Eric makes class fun and structures class to the needs of his students.
Really nice dude, lots of little homework or group assignments but he really tries to make it relevant
Is understanding and caters to student needs. Gives feedback and is an easy grader. Talks about and teaches relevant topics and incorporates current events into daily discussion.
Overall a great professor and has a positive interaction with the class. Weekly readings are usually discussed in class and he relates the discussion to current events. He gives plenty of time to complete group project assignments.
Great Professor. Cares about your success in the class. If you do the required work you will finish this class with a great grade and more importantly lots of knowledge pertaining to the business world.
Weekly readings that are used heavily in class for discussion. Group projects every other week. The class is an easy A, but the easy A requires a lot of work considering you have to read and do annotations every week. Really relaxed guy, super excited about things. Kind of reminiscent of Jack Black in School of Rock.
He's an awesome professor; I don't necessarily agree with a lot of the ideas he relays in his lectures, but he's super fun to listen to. He does give A LOT of HW, but it's all easy. He grades really fairly. He also loves group projects, but don't worry; they're not too difficult. If you try, you should have no problem making an A
Lots of group projects but they were all interesting and non of them were very difficult at all. 1-2 homework assignments a week, but again, nothing hard at all.
Good teacher, really smart.
Weekly reading assignments. Group Projects and or a weekly assignment. This class is very straightforward and easy as long as you show up and do your work. He likes to make class as fun as he can by creating discussions and debates. Very cool guy and would take him again if I could.
Great professor that changes how the class works based on feedback from his students. Probably most enjoyable class I have taken in college.
Great professor that gets the class engaged in discussions. He gives homework assignments due every class and one bigger assignment due at the end of each week, but none of them are difficult. You end up working in teams of your choosing for most of the bigger assignments. Regardless of the homeworks, I wish all my classes were like this.
Great professor, while I don't agree with him on a ton of his opinions his class is very thought provoking and engaging
Lots of busy work but most of it is in groups and its generally a super easy class. He takes attendance so you definitely have to show up which isn't bad because he gets everyone involved and makes class fun and interesting.
Super nice professor. There are lots of assignments, but they are actually useful, and he is a very generous grader. Would 10/10 take again.
Interesting class. Cool professor that is engaging and funny. Good class to take thats not terribly dificult
Professor Stephens really makes class fun and engaging. It is an easy class, just a lot of homework and group work, all of which is generally interesting and easily graded.
Prof Stephens, is a great teacher. He gears the class to things that you will use in real life. He makes class enjoyable, he allows you to get most of your work done in class, and even finds time for the occasional funny clip.
The class was zombie themed. He made almost all assignments group projects. Funny guy, really incorporates the learnings into the class. Makes the material very easy to understand for all majors.
Great professor. Not exactly an easy grader, but definitely fair. Do all your work, show up to class, and make an effort and you should get a good grade.
If you attended class and engaged, while asking questions so he specifies assignments you will do well.
Overall it was a fine class.
It's an interesting class and most work is group based. However, some of the projects are not clearly defined and can be challenging. Not a bad professor to take tho. He makes a boring topic/class truly interesting.
Great teacher, but the workload is heavy. Expect requirements to be lengthy on assignments.
Hilarious professor. Class is always fun and interactive. There is a good amount of textbook reading and several big group projects, but there are no tests or anything like that. The projects are pretty intense, but if you follow his instructions you'll get a good grade.
Eric is a cool guy! Funny and makes english interesting. The class was zombie themed part of homework was watching The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. There is a lot of group work so be prepared for that, also some of the assignments weren't always clear. The weekly readings we had, he made it so we can relate it to the real world.
Do little things that do not count towards grade.
He makes an otherwise boring class entertaining.
As long as you come to class and follow assignment instructions, you'll get an A
Good Class, Funny and interesting guy. However it was more work than I expected it would be overall.
Had a positive experience. Only complaint is a lot of writing assignments. Wasn't always sure about what was required on the papers.
Dr. Stephens was great. He not only was hilarious he made the entire semester fun. Some of the projects were a bit challenging, but overall I would definitely take this class again.
Dr. Stephens (congrats on becoming a doctor by the way!) is a great professor. This class is a decent amount of work so don't expect to get by doing nothing but he's hilarious and makes it as fun as possible!
Eric is a good instructor and makes the textbooks and lecture material readily available. Be prepared to read. Very group project heavy; almost 50% of your grade dependent group projects. Not great for science majors, very sociology based. The course was also zombie themed which was distracting and weird. We were required to watch the Walking Dead.
