Great teacher! Class consisted of fun and exciting discussion, not boring lecture! Professor Tippeconnic was clear on his assignments and also extremely available if you had any questions about the reading or future assignments. I've taken quite a few history courses at Fullerton and I would definitely professor Tippeconnic and his class.
This class is awesome. You will not be overstressed with work but you will come away with more knowledge than any other 300A class there is. The teacher is amazing and very down to earth. He even makes the discussions interesting. (which is very rare for a teacher to do) Pretty much Mr. Tippeconnic teaches history the way its meant to be taught.
You will not be stressed with work but you will come away with more knowledge than any other 300A class. The workload is decent and not difficult if you are interested in history. He respects you as long as you respect him.He is very laid-back. He even makes the discussions interesting and relates it to modern events.
Dr. Tippeconnic is a very enthusiastic professor. He keeps the class very interesting and has a great wealth of knowledge to share. He is very concerned with students progress and will help in so many different ways to help a student succeed. I would take his courses again, his teaching style is easy to understand and he doesn't try to trick anyone
Finally an interesting history teacher! If you did not like history before this class you will like it after you finish his class. He is very passionate about what he teaches and makes history very interesting. Professor Tippeconnic is an amazing teacher and I would love to take another class from him.
Professor Tippeconnic ROCKS! If you don't take him for a history class you are missing out. He is a talented teacher and a unique ability to relate the past to the future. If more teachers taught with his enthusiasm, college would be more fun and exciting. His tests were not easy (essay), but he is VERY fair. Take him. You will not be disappointed
Mr.T is simply awesome!! He is passionate about history, if you're not interested in history ....here YOU will! He also let's you express yourself and doesn't judge you or shut you down, if anything...he encourages you to not agree with him...you're entitled to your own opinion. I am truly going to miss this class!!! take HIM!
Prof Tippeconnic is a breath of fresh air. I was dreading history class and heard horror stories of how BORING the teachers were OMG..where did they find this guy? He is truly an amazing teacher.VERY smart and interesting to listen to. You can tell he LOVES what he is teaching. If you see his name as a teacher and you dont take him you will be sorry
Mr. T simply put is a gifted professor who cares deeply for his students. He requires a lot from you and gives a lot of himself. He is very easy going with a great sense of humor. The class involves a good amount of reading daily so be prepared to read. I loved this class and hope to take another class from this great teacher. Thanks Mr. T!
one of the better history teachers at csuf actually makes history interesting and enjoys what he is teaching. wish all history teachers were like him. 4 textbooks required only really need to read two books one book as essay portion to midterm and the other as required paper. Midterm and Final are all writing hard but manageable.
He's genuinely passionate about the subject and has a great sense of humor. He's understanding and wants his students to do well. He interacts well with college students and makes the class very interesting! One of my favorites at CSUF
Very unorganized. Changed tests from essay to MC and told us last min that the final was essay format. Had us buy several books, ended up using only 1. Lectures whole time, talks too fast. Pretty easy class but Prof ruined the class for me. 1 midterm, 1 optional test, 1 final. 1 4pg paper. Not very helpful or funny, but nice guy.
Great class and great teacher. His tests were very fair if you prepared and he provided a study guide for the mid term. Teacher was very interesting to listen too and he is passionate about what he teaches. He was approachable and a super nice guy. One of the better classes I have taken.
One word for this professor and class..AMAZING! Professor Tippeconnic is dedicated to his students and he gives 100%. He was always available and very helpful. He has great insight and is very open minded. I truly enjoyed learning from him.
His class was based only on lecture, which might I add is very unorganized. He rambles on and was not loud enough for the entire class to hear. He goes very quickly and does not use a power point or visual aids. It's all his words that are on the exams. Your grade is a midterm, final, and a paper. I passed but struggled greatly!
Tippeconnic is extremely helpful, has clear and concise lecturesnotes, and gives a lot of room to bring your grade up. There are a lot of quizzes on the notesreadings at the beginning of the semester, but none after week 7 or so. He's an extremely generous grader and the multiple choice tests are understandable, he doesn't try to trick you.
He has high expectations, but he's a reasonable grader. Sometimes he can move quickly through material, but he does answer questions.
This professor has got to be one of my favorites. He is so awesome and loves what he does. He is very encouraging and interested in what students have to say. HE IS SO GREAT I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY BESIDES TAKE HIS CLASS.
He's a great teacher, made my 8 AMs not so terrible! He is very clear about his lectures and he answers every question. Doesn't give many tests, only 1 midterm and 1 final. He throws an essay in that to but it's very simple. I would definitely take his class again. You will not regret choosing this teacher!
I really liked professor tippeconnic. He is very down to earth about student opinions and he really loves what he does. Tippeconnic is not only inspiring, but a facsinating person to converse on history. He is willing to learn from histories he does not know much about. Easily one of the best professors on campus. He deserves an award in greatness
I must admit I was really not excited to take history. I spoke to several other students who had taken this class and they recommended prof tippeconnic. What a very pleasant surprise! Prof Tippeconnic was so interesting to listen too. He made learning a rather boring subject (in my opinion) truly enjoyable. GREAT class!!!!!!!
He is an AMAZING professor!!! I took his 8am class and I was not really excited about taking History that early in the morning, however he made my mornings because he always kept the class interesting. If you don't go to class everyday then you're screwed because his midterm and final are based off the lecture. Literally word by word. Go to class!
I took this as a once a week 3hr class and pretty much was what I expected plus no papersHW but don't take him if you aren't willing to go to class and take real notes because that's all the midterm and final are plus a tiny book he makes you read
Overall I am VERY happy with this class. Prof tippeconnic gave great lectures and presented the information in a way that was not boring. History can be a dry subject but it helped a ton to have a teacher who present it passionetly. Prof tippeconnic was helpful and cares for his students. He is easy going and very approachable.
His a very nice guy. However, his lectures are boring. He goes way to fast and is unclear on what is going to be on the final and midterm. He gives no specific study guide so be prepared to study ALL the notes you take in class and make sure there specific notes. Also no homework but you just have to read this tiny book that was actually good.
Professor Tippeconnic gives great lectures and is always available for help. He does require a lot of reading but I think this is normal for a history class. He cares for is students and it shows. I would definetly take another class from him.
I liked Professor Tippeconic's class. He is a really friendly guy, which shows when you need to visit him during office hours. With that said, this was a difficult class. The reading is extensive, and if you don't go to class, you might as well not show up for tests. Lectures are long (and not thrilling; I suppose they never are).
I liked Professor Tippeconic's class. He is a really friendly guy, which shows when you need to visit him during office hours. With that said, this was a difficult class. The reading is extensive, and if you don't go to class, you might as well not show up for tests. Lectures are long.
This what not your average boring history class. Mr Tippeconnic provided interesting lectures to rather dry material. He is interactive, very helpful and fair. If you show up to class, do the reading and pay attention you will do fine. Mr Tippeconnic was always available for questions and overall a super cool guy to talk to.
His lectures aren't put together well at all, and he rushes through the slides not letting people finish writing stuff down. His study guides are so unorganized it will have you bouncing around your notes because he can't keep his terms in chronological order, which I found very irritating leaving me to research more online than going off my notes.
Excellent class given by an excellent teacher. Lectures required a lot of note taking so be prepared to write. He is super friendly and interesting. Mr. Tippeconnic was always available for help and always happy to help. One of the better teachers here who gives interesting lectures.
Professor Tippeconnic is an amazing history teacher! Although he rushes through his lectures pretty fast so take really good notes. Tests are really easy, everything on the study guide is on the test. He doesn't trick you, everything is really straight forward.
Mr Tippeconnic is an excellent teacher who is very passionate about what he is teaching. I am super happy to have taken his class which was recommended by one of his former students. Super pleased and would highly recommend him!
Great guy, great explanations of history, and easy test! Two Thumbs up!
Professor Tippeconnic is helpful and smart. My advice to you is if you want an easy history class take him. It's interesting and easy at the same time. Just show up for lecture it makes the tests easier since most is word for word. Got to add that chili pepper tho.
Professor Tippeconnic is a very nice guy. The course itself isn't too hard if you show up to class. Everything on his tests is covered during the lectures so it's best to show up. He does a great job at making pretty dry material more interesting. i would definitely recommend taking his class.
Pretty easy class if you study your notes from class, he will usually have a study guide for you which are mostly key terms. 3 Tests for the whole semester the tests are not accumulative. He tries to keep the classroom entertaining by having a narrative lecture and goes in depth. He makes the class laugh with his jokes, at times they are funny.
This was the first History class I really enjoyed and got an A in. He assigns reading but you NEED to show up to class to get all the exam questions. Study those class notes and you'll ace the class. He also makes class interesting and jokes around with the students - kept my attention throughout the 3 hour class. Highly recommend him!
Ok teacher in the beginning of the semester usually. A passionate one. Starts off with easy to copy slides if you have fast handwriting or a laptop. But the later semesters he would start orally giving notes and it throws you have and he speaks very fast. If you have notes from class you're fine. Hate how he switches lecture styles though.
This course is extremely easy and he gives a LONG study guide with everything discussed during the lectures. The study guides help a lot for the exams so please do those. Beware, professor uses slides for lectures and he skims through them fast so expect to write extremely fast.
This class was extremely boring. he can be funny at times but the way he lectures does not really help the information stick to you. the study guide isn't much help because it is an extensive list of vocabulary. his class grade is composed of 3 exams and attendance which makes it 1000X to get an A overall.
Starts off by giving power point slides and no you can not use your computer 3rd to 4th week he lets you use computers The switches from power point to reading from his notes in the middle of the semester And in the end has it mixed from his notes to power point Go to his office hours for notes and ask questions he is happy to help Test MC easy A
Cool teacher. Pretty hard if you do not show up for class. Does not put powerpoints online.... Sometimes lectures without a powerpoint or writing on the board. Tests are super hard. But he always tells interesting stories.
Great class and great professor. His class requires attendance or you WONT pass. He tell really cool stories and had a great personality. Gives a study guide with a lot of information. If you know it you will get a good grade. I would take him again for another history class.
Take this prof but don't take the 3 hour lecture like I did because he will literally lecture through the entire class period without stopping. His lectures are great but after a while its hard to keep up but the tests are word by word all from the lecture and he doesn't post anything online. Take notes and utilize study guides and you will pass
Usually, lecture doesn't come with powerpoint. Around 50-100 multiple choice for midterm and final (not accumulated). The exam is not very hard as long as you take good note and work on the study guide. Also, he is really really nice in office hour. I would take him again
The class consisted of 3 exams which were not cumulative. He also graded tests on a curve for my class. The tests reflected the study guide exactly which came exactly from his lecture. Lectures can be fast paced but if asked to repeat or clarify he will. Used the book one time to get info for the final but that was the only time I used it.
Pretty easy class, I took his night class but he made the class go by fast. He also allowed one break if we wanted one. Didn't need the book except for twice, most of the questions on his exams are taken from lectures. Does not allow laptops so get ready to take notes and sometimes he didn't do powerpoints.
He is such a great professor. You really just have to show up to class in order to get a good grade. His powerpoint were so easy to follow! Everything he gives you on study guides are on the test so study! Also, he curves the exams! You only truly need the "Things Fall Apart" book.
Professor Tippeconnic demonstrates excellent teaching skills in history. The lectures are pretty long and boring, but he makes it not to bad. Power points are used which aren't ideal, but okay. 3 exams make up your grade. Read one book as part of a section in class, not to bad. Overall a great professor.
Good prof, Course material is pretty dull despite covering the most interesting time periods in history. We covered the imperialism of Hawaii for 2 very long and dull weeks and didn't even get to WWII, for example. A small part of me died when I had to learn about the FIFTH Kamehameha. Sorry. Also he uses a word doc to present and its awful
He is a great person, and really cares that you learn something in his class. I'd say class is mandatory because there is a sign in sheet and his notes are never online. You can go to office hours to fill in blanks, but you can't take pictures. He has 3 tests and though his lectures are a lot the class is pretty manageable. Take this class.
Great teacher! As long as you go to class each day and take notes on what you said you will do fine. Recommend doing the study guides! They really help. Don't need to buy the actual text book just "Things Fall Apart". Great teacher!
I had Tippeconic for both History 110A and I loved him so much that I took him for 110B. In highschool, I hated history.. but somehow he made me reconsider my major at times! You do have to show up to class to get the material but his tests are straight forward. What he lectures will be on the test. STUDY GUIDES ARE VERY HELPFUL! 2 tests, 1 final
He's a great professor and makes his lectures incredibly interesting but he does move very fast during the lectures and does not post the notes online so if you do not take great notes you're basically screwed. He does hand out study guides a week before the exams that are incredibly helpful. Overall I loved having his class and would take again!
Eric is an amazing person. However, his concept of teaching isn't too great. Eric doesn't post his notes online, if you miss a lecture or do come to the lecture but miss some notes because he moves too fast, you're SOL. He grades his class based on 3 Test (Non cumulative) and participation. Overall, it's an okay class if you want a challenge.
He's a wonderful professor. The lectures are a bit long, but his voice does not put you to sleep. He doesn't allow students to take digital notes until the second half of the semester. His exams are extremely easy if you study every words on his study guide. Got an A. Put in 2-3 hours of studying the day before the exam and you should be fine.
Show up to class, take notes of everything, and study! Three exams are based on his lectures and study guide. Super awesome and he is so passionate about History. I don't even like history but he made it bearable and easy to remember. Take him!
Take good notes in class because everything he mentions will be on the exam. There are 3 exams and there is a required book that you need to read. He will give pop quizzes for the assigned book. Make a friend in class to study with because he does not provide his lectures online unless he's absent or doesn't cover all the material.
Easy class. Notes are thorough and he's a good lecturer. Notes are a bit hard to see from the back because he uses Word to give powerpoints though. He also doesn't rarely posts them online. The big textbook isn't necessary, the small one is required though. Always gives study guides before test and they're helpful. All tests are MC. Some pop quizes
He is amazing, don't hesitate and take his class. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR and an easy A if you study. For studying, just review the in-class notes and the study guides. Always pleased to be in his class!
Eric is a very passionate professor during lecture. He lectures in a story telling aspect about the past. The story are very easy to catch onto. 3 midterm (50-100 questions), each are 30% of your grade. 1 absent is allowed. Must attend class to receive lecture notes. Never post anything online. Does not allow computer. Must take note with paper.
This class is all note-taking and you're only allowed to use your pen/paper, no laptops or electronics. However, he is very passionate and gives most of his lectures in story form. All his tests are MC. I also had him for hist 110B and it was the same class layout. 3 tests and she may curve them. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED
Great professor and lectures. Overall I was very pleased with this class. Dr. Tippeconnic made the class interesting. I would take him again.
I loved this class. He only tests on the lectures and a book thats 130 pages. He is really good at explaining everything and the tests are pretty easy.
He is a great professor! He lectures like he's telling a story, so every single thing he says in class sticks in your head. He gives study guides before the exams, and those are really helpful. Make sure you go to class, or make a friend, because there is a sign in sheet and he doesn't post anything online. Only need "Things Fall Apart" book!
I took his night class for History 110B. Solid teacher, his lectures are told as a story, but very long. Textbook is not needed, if you study the notes you'll get an A.
Only had 3 test total, 1 book reading but that was all! Go to his lecture, listen to him, and do the study guide and you WILL get an A in the class!! Professor was really caring so if you had any question just stay after class and he will answer it for you!
Professor Tippeconnic is a cool guy. His class is only based off of 3 exams and participation which he decided based off of attendance and reading quizzes from a book he assigns. (Only about 2 weeks worth of the class focuses on the book) he lets you know your grade after tests and its easy to figure out what you have. Its lecture heavy but solid
If you want to pass history with an easy A, take him! He is so passionate and his lectures are so interesting. He lectures by story-telling, and it sticks in your head. I refer to his stories when studying, and it helps me remember. He gives out study guides for the test, so just study it over and over again and you'll pass. Take really good notes.
The key to getting an A to this class is by going to every lecture. If you can maintain your attendance and keep up writing the notes you will easily get an A. The exams are exactly like the lectures. You do not need the text book. Professor Tippeconnic made history interesting, when I usually don't care too much about it. Highly recommend!!!
Great Professor. I wouldn't want to take this course with anyone else. He understands that not all of us are history majors, so he tries to make it interesting and as easy as he possibly can. Graded on only a few exams and some "pop quizzes" so beware, and just prepare. Easy to get an A, very easy to just pass.
Took him for a once a week class. Had to take a lot of notes. Can't use a laptop in the beginning but towards the middle of the semester, he allows you to. The test are actually pretty easy. You don't need to remember dates. He reads off the words doc he put up word for word. 2 midterms 1 final, all multiple choice. a few small quizzes.
I HIGHLY recommend for Hist110B. His lectures are like him telling a story and it is really interesting. You only read a short book at the end of the semester but it is very interesting. The grade is basically made up of 3 exams noncumulative with some quizzes from the book. The only downside is that he does not allow notes to be typed.
Cool guy but lectures too long. He teaches on microsoft word but his bullet points don't help because he shortens the point on microsoft but teaches a whole story on that one point so it's hard to jot down every detail since his exams are pretty detailed. There are 2 exams and a final (noncumulative) but they are like 80 questions multiple choice
Throughout his lectures, he always asks if anyone has questions about the material and will review the information.
Eric seems like a cool guy to talk to but his lectures are just him reading off of a powerpoint or notes. Being in that class for an hour and 15 minutes could get very boring. Lectures are long.
I always looked forward to his class because he made it so interesting! And let's keep in mind that I had him on Monday nights from 7 to 9:45. I don't get the reviews that say that he is boring. He makes the class feel like a story time. He is very funny and sweet!!! Please do yourself a favor and take him!
My favorite professor of the semester. His class was super easy if you're good at memorizing. Getting an A is guaranteed, just show up to class, write everything down, memorize it, boom A. Such an easy going professor that doesn't assign random assignments.
Boring class bc he just lectures the entire time buut he lets students out early most days. His tests are super easy, he tells you exactly what's on it. The only reason he got a 2 on difficulty is because lectures are so hard to follow along. At least 2 extra credit opportunites-take it. Try to fight the urge to ditch bc you will miss a lot of info
The class can be boring because he lectures the entire time off of just papers which also makes it difficult to follow sometimes. The tests are a little weird with really specific questions, but they do become easier over time. The class just depends on your tests and attendance. He does offer extra credit and is overall, pretty nice!
Started out with using powerpoints with lectures and then switched midsemester to just reading off a piece of paper. Lectures extremely fast. Does not upload notes online. Our grade was solely based off 3 tests. All of the tests were based on what was said in his lectures. No other assignments were given. Never put in grades until grades were due.
Do you want a class that is story time? Take him. He reads his notes from a notebook FAST. Does not lecture good. His study guide is very vague.
All he does is talk, sometimes doesn't even have a powerpoint, so you just have to take notes while he is talking. When he does have a powerpoint, he goes through them way too fast. Not a very engaging class structure. Study guide gives NO specifics, just a list of everything you've covered this semester.
Eric seems like a very nice person outside of school, but his lectures are not great. He just reads off a paper the whole class at a very high rate. Very difficult to follow him and he does NOT post anything online, even though he said he will. Not recommended to take this course!
Excellent Professor who makes some rather boring material interesting. He does not post anything on line so attending class is a must. Overall very impressed with his class and would take him again.
Class is lecture heavy so you have to pay attention. Dr Tippeconnic is one of the best teachers in the history department. This is my second class with him. His style of teaching is telling interesting stories to connect with information that is dry. I like him and would take him again if I needed to.
Professor Tippeconnic is really understanding and a fun kind of guy but his lectures are super heavy and it can get boring majority of the times because mid-semester, he just sat and spoke so you have to be a good listener in order to get down the info. I preferred when he used powerpoints - was much faster and easier to follow
Expects his students to know way too much information for a GE class. Each exam covers over 100 terms, and he provides the study guide only one class before the exam date, even though many students beg him to post it earlier. Requires you to read/watch videos if there's info. he can't cover in class, which happens often.
Do not take this night class. He simply talks at you and you have to try and get everything he says down on paper because it will be on the tests. Your grade is determined by only 3 tests and they are very difficult. I would avoid this class because it's tedious and stressful. The only good thing is that he cancels and lets you out early.
I do not recommend taking this class. All he does is read off of a piece of paper as fast as he can, making it very hard to take notes and follow along. In the beginning, he would have powerpoints & notes were clear, but over time things only get worse. Study guide is vague & contains just terms & your grade is based off of 3 tests that are HARD.
Ok from the final exam. 25% was from lectures,25% from just reading the book and the rest was from chicken scratch notes he took pictures of. Overall his teaching style is very old school. Everything he says has to be written down. He had many absent days during the semester and didn't adjust the class to teach less information. Dont take his class
I received an A on the first two tests because what he lectured on was on them so it seemed fair. However, on the final he tried to squeeze 4 weeks of information into one and a half weeks, so I barely knew half of the questions. He also posted 30 pages of chicken scratch notes were supposed to study, but only gave them to us 6 days before the test
This class is very lecture heavy, so you need to take notes and listen. His lecture is pretty much him reading a paper out loud and you just type it down. He tried squeezing weeks of lectures in one week since he canceled a lot of classes, but couldn't finish and gave the class the rest of the notes online to study for. The notes were unreadable.
This was the third class I have taken from Dr Tippeconnic. He lectures heavy and only gives 3 tests but if you show up and pay attention you will be fine. He is one of the better history teachers.
The class only consists of three exams! First test he uses PowerPoint for lecture after that its all him just reading from a piece of paper while you taking notes. Gives study guides but it's just terms.
Prof tippeconnic has great lectures however he provides a lot of information so you need to be present in all classes. His tests were fair. Basically show up, study and you will do fine. Super nice guy.
He is very disorganized and your grade will not be displayed until the final weeks of class. Does not answer emails and hard to get in contact when not in campus. There are a couple of writing assignments, the midterm, and the final. Very lecture intense, no study guide and he will test you on ANYTHING learned from the lectures But he is a nice guy
This class was very disorganized. The PowerPoints were inconsistent and it had very less assignments which created more stress for me. This class is based on tests.
He is a nice professor, but lecture is heavy. Class grade consists of 3 exams. Take notes on everything he says and memorize everything!! That is the only way you'll pass.
One of the better history professors. Dr Tippeconnic is a super nice guy and was easy to get a hold of. He will work with you and was helpful when I missed a few classes. He lectures the entire time however he makes the material interesting. I would take him again.
He is a cool guy, but not a great prof. He starts the semester with presentation slides, but he ends up just reading from his notes. It is hard to follow along. Reading the book is mandatory but not as important as his notes. He is not a good communicator. If class is cancelled, he will just post his sloppy notes online.
AIS 410- Amazing teacher, and extremely interesting lectures. I took this class from 7:30-10:20, and he was able to keep us engaged and participating. Usually a very simple quiz each class.
