Extremely good professor. Provides optional but extremely helpful study sessions. Is willing and able to set up office hours if needed, works with students well. Gives good videos to help students better understand material. Would take him for math again! Difficulty level at a 3 only to for overall math difficulty
Heavy workload but to be expected since it was a 6wks online course. Professor provided many videos and explained material very well. He was very quick to respond any time I had difficulty with homework problem or quiz. He offers live online help before every exam (this was extremely helpful). I definitely recommend him.
Exams are just like the homework, almost identical. So do all your homework and quizzes. You will have 2 labs which to me are easy and worth 20%, Exams 30% , homework 13% and quizzes 12%. The class was fairly easy and understandable just apply yourself and email him if you have any difficulty !
I am not here to bash but I feel like he cheated me out of my grade and gave no explanation. But, the class was fairly good and he did answer questions if I had a problem. I dont know how I feel about advising others to take his class.
The first day of school I was already behind 3 assignments because I couldn't get in (my access codes weren't working) I emailed him 3 times and he didn't even get to me until 3 days later. Then he told me he would give an extension but take off 20% as a penalty. Not caring at all and wish I wasn't taking him currently.
I am currently failing this course but I'm in it so I'm going to ride it out. He isnt a bad professor my grade was completely on me for not reaching out and asking for help and having some personal issues in my life. Overall he is a good professor, will work with you and will put in extra time to tutor if needed. I will take again.
He never really answered my emails, only occasionally. However, this is an online class and I basically have been able to do everything just by watching the videos he posts. I would rather have taken him in person though instead of online. I think if he was taken in person I wouldve had a more positive outcome.
Took this class online (mini term) and there is homework everyday. Prof provides lecture videos but quality varies, sometimes he doesn't explain the material in depth. Tests are weighed heavily, 3 labs (easy), everything else is through MML. Nice guy but should offer more extra credit and having taken it online I never saw he gave live tutoring.
Stop right here and just don't even consider this teacher. I had him online and he doesn't care about his students, hardly sends messages about the test or explains where. The videos are extremely long and most of them are someone else teaching. The book isn't clear either. There are way better teachers at least for online.
no video lectures you have to find those online yourself. final exam was 50% like the study guide.
The class was what I expect from an online class, teach yourself. He does hold online review sessions for tests which I'm sure are helpful. Do the 9 homework assignments a week and do the practice test a couple of times and you should be fine for tests. The final wasn't like the practice exam but I'm sure it was just a mistake. Expecting a curve.
He seems like a good person, but for a simple online math class I have been doing 3 hours of work a day trying to submit things on time. I have more work to do for this one class than I did with all of my 5 AP classes combined in high school. Most of the material is pretty easy but I barely have any free time and it is Summer.
this class lasted from 5/13 to 8/13. only leaving two days before i had to move back to gainesville. AND no professor. this guy does not teach ever. you learn on your own from the DAILY prelecture, hw and quiz. Yeah, a new lesson DAILY. AND my friends who stayed in town finish months before me and they did better too. do NOT take his class.
he password locks the tests so you cant even review them AND you get points off for requesting extensions even though he assigns three assignments EACH NIGHT for the new lesson. that's right. you have to stay on top of a new lesson EVERY DAY. with NO guidance from him, just learning CALCULUS 2 on your own!
This class is a ton of work with the professor providing little help, but Calc 2 with Prof. Torres is the class to take in order to get the highest grade. His class is a lot of work but the work you do prepares you for the exams . The exams are just like the reviews. The final however was not at all like the final review.
This class was not an easy A but if you do the work and watch all of the videos you should be able to pass. Prof. Torres was very nice and if I had any issues he was quick to respond and take action to help me succeed. I work a full time job and was still able to do the work and pass. I highly recommend taking this course with him!
I think he would be a great professor in class but the problem lies with the online program used for calc. The program is called WebAssign and it is a terrible math program. I think I could have done much better if Santa Fe used a different program. If you can take him in class I think you have a good shot at the course. Online I wouldn't take.
I took Prof. Torres fall semester A. He offered extra credit on tests which was really nice. hw everynight but it was mostly all done on mymathlab The tests look exactly like the hw/quizzes so if you actually do all of the work he assigns, you should be fine. The lecture vids he posted didnt cover everything for hw but I watched vids on youtube
Homework and tests are pretty much the same and be sure to complete your homework! Homework donepass. He is very understanding and answers his emails rather quickly. Very approachable and respectful 10/10 would take again.
Professor Torres was awesome. Very straight forward course, you work for the grade you want to earn. I was finally able to pass this course thanks to Professor Torres. He is quick to respond to emails and very helpful with answering any questions. I recommend him for anyone who struggles with algebra!
Lecture videos are a joke, he makes a ton of mistakes and covers broad concepts. He does not go over example problems, nothing feels like it builds off each other. If you are a visual leaner STAY AWAY from Torres. I had to have a ton of help from my husband (who is excellent with math) and the internet and still struggled.
Do the Practice Tests!!!
I was a little nervous at first with this Professor, especially with this being math and still stuck in the middle of a pandemic, but it was okay-ish. He definitely makes you work for your grade but will give extra credit on tests if he sees that you're trying in the class (through the practice tests and quizzes). Overall, try and you'll be fine.
Profeesor Torres is a great professor who made a fast paced Summer A math class manageable. If you do your work and try your hardest you will get a good grade in the class and Professor will take notice. I recommend taking Professor Torres for MAC 1105.
A real treat to have Prof Torres this semester. He helped me through technical difficulties which led to me missing assignments. He was understanding, and let me make up the work. Very pleasant to talk to. His lectures were clear and well written out. I had zero problems with this course.
Professor Torres gives a clear criteria of what's expected and the videos and explanations given are definitely helpful. For math I would be happy to have him as a professor again.
Professor Torres made math just a little bit easier for someone who doesnt get it at all. Well it killed me slowly to get through this class Professor Torres did his best to allow me to understand the material the best I can.
Really helped explain things better
The class has a heavy workload, but for a fast paced class it wasn't bad. His lectures really clicked for me and I loved doing the work, which is surprising because I don't like math. He's nice and understanding, very clear with policies, is willing to work with you if requested. If I could, I would take all of my future math courses with him.
He actually is a really good professor and actually wants his students to pass. He is very helpful during tutoring especially when you dont understand the material. Very easy going professor as long as you put in effort.
Responds quick and helpful with tutoring.
As long as you do all of your work on time and try to school for perfect scores on the hw i think this class is passable! i was doing really well until the final. the professor really did his best to help in any way he could. NOTE: THE REVIEW BARLEY CONTAINED ANY QUESTIONS THAT POPPED UP ON THE FINAL.
Professor Torres was a great teacher, 24 hour turn around time for questions. If you participate it can only help your grade. Participation points are easy to get.
I got stuck with this professor since the one I had left or something. I would not take him! If your someone that needs to be taught by steps and everything written out, PASS on him. He ignores our questions or he answers them wrong. During class time he goes off-topic most of the time and was just reading from another professor's PowerPoint.
Honestly, I would pick another professor but I was stuck with him. Course syllabus and grading weren't finalized until the middle of the semester. Luckily, the material itself was fairly simple easy. Tests are comprised of ONLY homework questions. Not sure how helpful he is with answering questions, he would get them all wrong during lectures.
He was very helpful and responded to my emails quickly. I would definitely take him again.
Take practice tests 3 or more times for max. known questions. Homework is less, instead of 40+ graded Qs. You get optional 20 or less practice Qs and 20 or less graded Qs on mandatory homework. Professor has an excel set-up for your final course grade as you go along. 3 tests + mandatory final, 1 test dropped. 5 dropped quizzes. 1 dropped Homework.
I took this course as a online hybrid class. It was easy to follow what assignments were due and how this course functioned as a whole. This professor was very helpful and responsive to any issues I ran into during the course and I felt comfortable coming to him with them. I definitley would recommend this professor.
Professor Torres is beyond helpful. He goes out of his way to help you as much as possible. I took him once for topics math and a second time for statistics. I promise you I would have failed if it had been any other professor! Just be honest with him and try your best. I cannot recommend professor Torres more!
This class overall wasn't too bad. What helped me pass were the practice tests and finals. The practice tests/final is basically a mirror image of what the test is going to be, but of course different versions, so the practice helped. Professor Torres cares about his students passing and isn't hard to reach out of class if you have any questions.
Use his office hours!
I usually struggle with math classes, but Prof. T made class enjoyable. He provides everything you need to succeed in his online class. He is quick to respond to emails/questions and breaks problems down step-by-step for you in instructional videos. I highly recommend Professor Torres, especially if you struggle in math-based classes like I do.
I was nervous about taking stats but Prof. T was amazing. He gives you everything you need to succeed in this class. The practice tests were a huge help as they were basically the exams but different versions. I would definitely take him again and highly recommend if you struggle in math.
Mr. Torres is a fantastic math professor that knows what he is talking about and is ready to help you learn at any given time... I highly recommend especially if you have a difficult time in math.
Make sure you read your book! If you have any questions email Professor T. He responds quickly. Overall a great professor no complaints.
Professor T was very specific on everything regarding homework and Tests. If you miss a test he doesn't let take it later, but the lower test grade is dropped so that's good! There's a lot of homework but manageable. You have a deduction of 20% per question on homework if you don't turn it in on the due date.
I am not very strong in math, so I was very nervous about taking this class. His class is very easy to navigate through and he is really great at explaining things. If you do your homework and study the practice tests (because they are exactly like the tests) you will be fine. He drops some of your lowest grades, so if you bomb a quiz, no worries!
Very straight forward class. He posts lots of helpful videos on the topics and the practice tests are very helpful.
This was very hard class, and the professor was awesome. He was every step of the way providing support and help as needed. Very good videos on subjects.
This class is extremely difficult for someone who is bad at math. However, with that being said all the resources to learn are there and professor Tores was always available to answer questions. Statistics is hard and confusing but the practice tests were helpful and while there was a lot of homework assignments, it will prob save your grade
If you hate math Torres will change your mind, having a caring professor while working on what you despise the most will go a long way. Professor Torres was very attentive during this semester and always willing to help, and flexible zoom meetings. Tons of homework and quizzes but those count a lot in case you don't succeed on tests or even finals.
I love this man, he was a great online professor. Easy to reach and will explain anything to you if you need help. The homework was kinda long but its not too bad.
Overall okay Course/Teacher, only about half of the videos linked were his, and he uses no template for notes so it make note taking a bit more difficult compared to other math classes. Lots of homework but if you do all of them, you'll know 95% of tests and quizzes. Feels like more memorizing the Quizzes/Tests but overall easy to get a good grade.
There were 17 assignments due for him within the *first* week of class. There are no lecture videos, just youtube videos that aren't his. The work itself wasn't super hard, just the amount of it was discouraging. Do not recommend this class, had to withdraw.
I would recommend taking his class. Very great teacher that cares about his students.
Professor Torres was very clear of his expectations and how to succeed in his class. As for an online class it was structured with a user friendly schedule. Most of the learning was directly from the online textbook. I would suggest utilizing his help sessions as he will work with you on any concept.
One really great resource that is great is the online math tutors. There are some really great statistics tutors. Mr. Torres gives practice tests out for us to practice before the exam. The exam questions are mixed in on the practice tests, so that helps a lot. I would really recommend taking Eric Torres if he is an option.
Professor Torres' teaching style was great, I had statistics fully online so I never was taught in person, but his lectures are easy to learn and very accessible. He also provides other videos along with his videos to provide a variety of material for each chapter, making it easy. There is a good amount of work to do, but the videos help you a lot.
Do your homework!!
Professor Torres is an exceptional statistic professor. I am grateful to have had the privilege of learning from such an outstanding educator. Professor Torres has not only fostered a love for statistics but has also equipped me with the necessary tools to succeed in this field and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend Professor Torres to anyone.
Took his summer A session and, honestly, would take again. Not a tough grader. There is homework every day as it is a short session. Organized material. Lots of material to cover and you have to seek help on your own as there aren't recorded lectures to watch, but clear layout of the class. Just stay on top of homework. I would recommend him.
I took the Fall A version of MAC1105. For every homework, there is a practice homework that goes with it, so be prepared to complete both every night to stay on track. All of the material prepares you for the test as it is all through My Math Lab. Mr. Torres has an accessible availability for office hours, so I definitely recommend ultilizing them!
great professor
Complete all the work. The professor is very clear on his expectations and easy to reach when you have a question.
just be prepared to work!
My best advice is to read ahead and expose yourself to material BEFORE lectures. His lectures are sometimes vague, with some arithmetic errors, so learn beforehand and pay full attention. For every test, there are three practice tests that mirror the real thing. His Office Hours are in-person hours and Zoom appointments whenever it works for you.
You must log on everyday, Listen to lecture and do homework. If you understand the lecture and homework and do it on time and correctly you will get a good grade.
Professor Torres was very willing to assist students and help with tutoring them through the class. He met with me one on one to address my concerns during the course. He was quick to respond and easy to meet with. The course was a little tough for me but only because I am not a math person
Mr. Torres's online math class is rigorous, with clear expectations and regular homework. He offers valuable resources like practice materials and online tutorials to support students. The workload is demanding but cultivates independence.
Pretty good and straightforward professor, offers a lot of help throughout the course and greatly cares about his students.
If you take his class, be ready for him to talk about anything other than the material on homework/tests. Barely does any practice problems in class. Prepare to learn the material practically on your own. He's usually available on the weeks days for office hours, so I guess there's that. I don't wanna be to harsh, but don't waste your time or money
This class itself isn't difficult. All the assignments are on my math lab. There aren't any meetings but the attendance is by submitting on canvas saying that you did the work plus doing the work on MyLab. Other than that the work itself is tricky but he offers a lot of help and resources.
Take anyone else & thank me later. Worst prof I've had at SF. Despite passing and the course itself being pretty easy, he made it so much more complicated & confusing than it should have been. didn't enter grades AT ALL until about a month away from end of semester & grading was confusing. Lectures were just rants about nothing important at all.
If you are dedicated, you can get an A. He is very clear about what to do to be successful in his class and there are NO surprises on the tests. He gives you practice tests that you can take over and over and basically has the same questions as the test. I would definitely take him again.
Overall the class was great. I had a hard time understanding some of the lessons which I then turned to him for help but wasn't able to access the video he sent me. I had messaged him and did not hear anything back. Besides that I really enjoyed the class. I would take him again.
Prof. Torres was extremely quick with his response time for an online class. He was good at helping through his course being very generous grading wise. Most of his work is completion based. The one thing about the course I would change would be the honor lock system as a whole, I know he has no control but this system is annoying and faulty.
Watch the lectures on canvas to learn the material. Participation/Attendance grade is doing the homework on MML and saying that you've done it on canvas. Only 3 Test. If you want to go to office hours make an appointment with him. He has an excel spreadsheet to help you keep track of your grade throughout the course. I took Sta2023 and Mac1105.
It is an easy class as long as you do the homework and quizzes you are good to get an A for this class. The exams are pretty easy as they are the same as the assignments and he is very accessible on the homework questions. It is a great online class!
Professor Torres is a great professor who knows how to make a Summer online class very manageable. As long as you do the Homeworks on MML and Canvas participation assignments you should be able to get an A in this class. The material is a lot in a short amount of time, but he is always ready to help when needed. Would recommend this professor!
Clear expectations. Attendance matters even with online classes. Overall happy with the course, even though I struggle with math.
This class has been easy so far. He offers practice tests that help you prepare for the test, which I greatly appreciate. He's quick to respond to emails which is nice. Keep up with your hw and don't fall behind; you'll most likely pass. Will drop lowest test grade of 3. Overall great professor.
This class has been very easy so far. He is very clear on what is expected of you during the course. Has a lot of homework assignments for grades but they are very easy A's. Overall great class and would take again.
Overall, I think the class was manageable partly because I already knew a few things about the lessons as it is similar to Algebra 2. However, there is some material not entirely covered in the the book or videos provided so you kind of have to figure it out on your own. One thing I don't like about this class is the constant use of My Lab Math.
He talks a lot in his lectures but strays off into different, irrelevant subjects sometimes. As long as you do the Homeworks on MML and Canvas, an A is feasible. He gives very clear expectations and guidelines.
