He Knows what he is talking about ... his test are very hard especially the labs because there is NO mulitple choice and NO word bank just a blank sheet numbered to 1-50 or 1-70... so you really have to know your stuff.. oh and spelling counts..ouch

His lectures are very interesting. He sometimes goes off the topic but it helps since the subject is too dry. His tests are little tricky but if you take proper notes in the class, it helps. He is very helpful and very approachable.

Eric is a great lab and esp. lecture professor. He explain things very clear and relate examples so it wll be easier to understand the concepts. recommend but make sure you stay on top of your studying. although i fail his class, i love his lecture. cant get any better!

Well I think the two previous reviews are somewhat correct. He is hard and late most days....but, if you study the lecture notes and do some reading on your own, an A is possible.

Eric is a nice guy, but his classes are incredibly disorganized. He is always, always, always late. He'll get off on tangents and then won't finish the lecture. However, his tests are over the material he goes through in class plus what you read in the text. Good teacher, just a little annoying.

Eric is the best teacher at ACC!He keeps you interested and can hold anyones attention.Does not follow the syllabus to a T but is very clear about what is happening.Quizes almost every class period to keep you on top of material.Has a built in curve and drops lowest grades.If you have to take a class he teaches, go for him and you wont regret it.

He draws out all processes, which is helpful. Tests are sometimes a little more in depth than his lectures- make sure you supplement his lectures with reading other material (not the book-its awful) Establish a rapport with him, show up to his classes and STUDY- you can come out with an A

Great professor- wish I could take Intro to Micro with him as well!! Draws pictures and gives awesome analogies to help understand the topic. The sub we had when he was gone last week made our class appreciate his teaching style immensely!! Go to the SI sessions and keep on top of studying and you will get an A for sure!

Great professor. Makes class interesting, sometimes goes off subject but keeps your attention. Easy A if you go to class and pay attention. Take advantage of free time in lab.

This teacher is good.. Learned alot from his lectures.. Very time consuming though.. Grades are given back late but you get them eventually... Don't take him if you have bad study habits..

If you are a visual learner- this is the prof to take. Entertaining and great at explaining difficult concepts.

Eric keeps lectures interesting with visual and real world examples. He enjoys the subject and has actual experience in the field. His exams are tough - you cannot just memorize the material, you must understand it. I would take him for future classes. Does not give back work in a timely manner.

Awesome teacher! If you can take him. I opened my book once during the whole semester. He explains things so you can understand them and is very helpful if you don't understand something. Keeps class interesting with examples and a fun environment. Be prepared to draw a lot of pictures.

Eric was early to every class period, everything was clear, no rambling, test were not THAT hard, and he is funny as hell. Everyone else just sucks. Stay on top of your stuff and there will be no problems.

Best teacher I've ever had. Always helpful and he really knows what he's talking about. All his notes and information are perfect and give you an amazing comprehension of the course and what you will be looking forward to in the future with your degree plan. you have to be an idiot to not take any of his courses.

Great teacher..Lectures are easy to follow and interactive. Study guides point out the important material and daily quizzes make sure your knowlege level is where it should be, if you fall behind you know it quickly. Take his classes and enjoy.

He is helpful makes class interesting...attendance is a must due to the quizzes before class which r great bc it lets u know what u need to look over...his test r fair not easy but if u go to class and pay attention u will get an A...yes i recommend this professor.... Fun and interesting teacher. Gives lots of information: visuals, verbal and written. Answers any questions. A few of my classmates could throw class offtrack with somewhat off subject discussions but he would eventually steer us back in right direction. Grades tests slowly and can not have tests back (downside) and gives quizzes everyday (must attend class). Passed both assessment tests this class preps for with minimal studying, so Eric did his job.

He is a great teacher. whoever may have him will be amazed at how he teaches and how it can really stick. the quizzes are generally based off of the previous notes. He is truly a fantastic teacher.

He is the BEST teacher that i have ever had at any college. All his notes are straightforward and clear and easy to understand. Attendance is good because you need to take the quizzes. which are also good because they help you study for the tests. and the tests are straight out of the notes. I have taken him twice and plan to a third time.He rocks!

AWESOME professor. Quiz every class, notes are clear, and tests are exactly from the notes. Lots of drawings and pictures. He really makes things stick and really explains everything well. Best Anatomy professor I've met.

Eric is an awesome teacher. He is very interactive and hands on. I learned a lot in this class but will have to retake it because I took too many classes at once. Unless you are an A student right out of high school you will need 15 hours of study on this subject per week. I highly recommend Eric VanGorkom.

Eric is such a great prof. He makes learning Biology a fun experience.I am so glad I choose him for class. I highly reconmend him to any one who needs a science credit. You wont be disappointed.

Eric is good stuff! He knows about the material and makes teaching for him easy, which makes understanding for students easy. Studying is the key! Find a study buddy and you will pass this class... I would recommend him to anyone!

I highly recommend taking Eric's class. Class is interesting and well organized. He writes and draws everything out on the board to make it easy to understand. He is also available during office hours for help. If I didn't have a schedule conflict then I would take him again. Oh his test are multiple choice, short answer/essay, and matching.

Eric is awesome. I took him during the summer & it was a whole lot of information. He is a very smart person! I recommend taking him. My advice would be to start memorizing every bit & pieces on bones! He draws and writes EVERYTHING except for the practical exams (those are on powerpoint). Hard class. Awesome professor.

Eric is a Great Professor! I learnt so much in his class. It was very fast paced since it was an 8 week class. Never miss class and memorize all your notes. Five exams and lots of quizzes.I worked very hard to make and A. I highly recommend taking him.

He is enthusiastic about Anatomy and knows his stuff. You will need to study hard from the very beginning and very consistently to do well in this class. This class has a ton of rote memorization-be warned. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

Erik is a great teacher. The class required constant studying. I wouldn't recommend taking more than two classes while taking this course. ATTEND class and re-read your notes every day, study pictures every day and you will do fine. This was a really involved course, but very intriguing.

VanGorkom was an AWESOME professor. His teaching style was clear and always interesting. His tests require a lot of thinking, and is very long including essays, but it's fair and will prepare you for nsg school. I highly recommend taking him for physiology. You'll learn a whole lot from him. The only problem is, he never grades anything on time.

By no means easy don't take too many hours or else. Very interesting instuctor. I took two classes total and made an A.

Awesome teacher! He is challenging and will really make you learn A&P. This isn't a "breeze through" class, but you will walk away with a better understanding and more prepared for medical studies. For nursing school this helped me more than my University professors! Highly recommended. You will be challenged and you will learn a lot!

BEST professor Ive had yet at ACC. I took Bio fund. to prepare me for anatomy and physio. I still use the notes I took from eric's bio fund. in my physio. class that I am currently enrolled in. Wish he taught more Biol. classes!!! Does many drawings and is extremely clear and helpful in portraying the information in a learnable way.

Best professor I've experienced at ACC! His class is by no means "easy" but his teaching style is really good, and that's coming from someone who does not enjoy Science at all.

Best teacher I have ever had....clear, helpful, teaches you memory tricks for the material. Quizzes every day, but it makes the information stick and makes studying for tests a lot easier. He not only taught me science but also how to study and be successful in school! My only regret is that I did not have him as a teacher earlier.

Eric was a great teacher. Very clear and helpful with his use of memory tricks and drawings. The class was certainly not easy but I found it extremely interesting and will certainly be helpful later on. I certainly hope that I can take another one of his classes in the future.

Do yourself the biggest favor and TAKE this professor! I walked away from his class feeling SMART! You will learn so much from him. BEST professor EVER!

Anatomy is a hard class but I really enjoyed it. Eric is very funny and entertaining and his lectures are fun. I did find it difficult knowing how to study for his tests. He does not give HW but does give chapter/exam reviews. But there was info on the test that werent covered in lecture or any of the reviews. He is also very SLOW to return grades.

Not an easy class at all. You need to spend at least 3 hours four to five days a week studying to get an A. The second lab practical is brutal so study for at least a month before hand. Also he puts a lot of pressure on spelling. Hes a really nice guy, explains things really well, and very down to Earth.I will definitely take him for other classe.

great prof but bit unorganized kind of scatterbrained at times but love way he teaches giving examples and real life scenarios this class DEF requires extensive studying his test are tricky at times u have to Study grades very slowly sometimes rushes thru chp 1 day before exam hardly giving time to study on the other hand syllab is extensive

PLEASE READ!!!! He is a very good teacher. probably the best science teacher I have ever had. I gave him a 3 for easiness but he is not a hard teacher. Actually for the class, he is very easy but biology is just hard in general which makes the class hard. My only complaint I have is that he doesnt had back papers very quickly. Highly recommend him

A great instructor that makes sure to use interesting and relevant examples to help students understand theory. Kudos for not enforcing the use of a very expensive textbook! The papers are not always graded in a timely manner and I was not very fond of extensive drawing... However, the drawing part actually helps with learning quite a bit.

Great lecturer, but Bio2402 is a pretty hard class. Don't expect an easy time. There are test for the lecture component and the lab component (lab practicals). The lab practicals stopped me from getting an A+. Highly recommend him anyway.

I took Eric for Human Physiology. He lectures a lot. No ppts all hand written notes so you need to be there. Difficult class but he is clear with what he expects. Quizzes every class. Grading is cumulative points not averaged so you get what you earn. He''s helpful funny and genuinely wants you to understand. Take him if you want to learn

He's a great professor and extremely knowledgeable, but that doesn't mean he's easy. You have a quiz every week, and its not multiple choice, they're short answers so you can't just memorize everything, you have to UNDERSTAND the material. I definitely suggest a voice recorder as well. He's really helpful, but doesn't take BS either.

Professor Erics made the difficult terms very easy and simple to understand, he knows how to teach you the "POINT". Talking was little too fast to me so recommend you record his lecture. Physiology requires lots of self study and reading, not a easy course, but Prof made it fun and I enjoyed a lot. I respect him because he is very knowledgeable!

Eric is a fantastic teacher, I would take his class again. It's not an easy A, but he makes learning fun and most definitely worth your time. Pros: very willing to help explains concepts very well enjoys teaching, it shows fun and down to earth Cons: slow to reply to emails

For a class that's already difficult to begin with, Eric makes the topic easy to comprehend and gives you plenty of hilarious real-life stories that really help cement the concepts. He's a fast talker, but if you put in the study time you'll thank yourself for taking the class with him.

Eric is a super cool guy and his lectures are fun. Tests and exams, however, are different stories. You will have to study hard if you want a higher grade. I highly recommend attending SIS (extra help sessions with one of his former students) at least in the beginning. Not an easy class but his style of teaching is great and you will learn a lot.

Great at making concepts easy to understand, the absolute best thing about him! I took him for intro to A&P and his notes carried me through anatomy and hopefully physiology when I take it next (he was not my proff for either). On a side note he really makes you want to live a healthier life just by how he uses his examples haha!

This class definitely requires a fair amount of outside studying to get an A. If you're student with a job/family and you miss an exam, VanGorkom will be there to help you plan time to retake the it. Taking good notes are a must, and make sure to pay attention to his stories (he drops a lot of test hints in there). Be prepared for a lot of quizzes.

Lectures were easy to listen to and understand. He has a lot of experience in hospitals and told stories that made the content of the class more memorable. He is a funny guy who loves what he talks about and wants to see you do well. Expect a quick quiz every day of class. If you put in effort you will pass with a good grade.

Professor VanGorkom was spectacular! He made difficult concepts easy to understand, was friendly and accessible all semester, and added interesting stories from his work at the hospital that really livened up the lectures! Word of warning- there is a quiz every class, but he only takes the top ten as a grade. Would take again!

Had Eric for both Anat & Phys; exceptional professor but be prepared to work for A in his class. He explains concepts well & is thorough, organized teacher. His exams are brutal (really know the material to do well). Gives lots of quizzes, drops lowest ones. Allows you to take cumulative final to replace lowest exam score. Slow returning grades

VanGorkam was the best teacher I have ever had. He explains science concepts in a way that is easy to understand, and goes the extra mile to make the concepts applicable. He is hilarious and kind, wonderful lectures, wants you to succeed. Take home quizzes, test material is from his lectures. TAKE NOTES, they are your lifeline. Organized, efficient

Professor Eric is an excellent instructor. I would highly recommend him! Be aware this course is extremely difficult, especially if you have no Anatomy background. He is great at explaining complex material so you understand it. Be prepared to apply information you learn to exams. He is very organized, caring and funny too! Ask questions!

Eric's teaching style is very fun and personable. He made the most complicated concepts easy to understand. Be ready for a lot of note-taking and drawing. You will have to study diligently outside of class as well, which is helped by SI session held by Marcia twice a week. Marcia was essential in helping me clarify things! Both of them are great!

Eric VanGorkom to me is the best when it comes to Biology and/ or A&P, He thoroughly explains himself. The different colors he uses for lecture are really helpful, so note taking was a breeze. You have to actually read your notes and listen to him in lectures because he will test. Also on blackboard the review notes help keep you on track.

Interesting lectures, however, reading the textbook is necessary. Definitely need to learn the material rather than just memorize. One of the best professors I've ever had.

I had him for Biol1308 He is fantastic! Super willing to answer your questions, his teaching style helped me a lot as far as remembering things. He used to work in the medical field so he is very knowledgeable and uses his stories to help you understand the material better. I will definitely be taking him for A and P

Eric Vangorkom is an awesome teacher and an awesome Guy, wish I took him for A&P 1 but I am happy enough to have taken him for A&P 2! Do the work and you will make an A and learn a great deal in the process.

Eric VanGorkom is great! He explains himself well and uses different colors for his lectures which really helps. You HAVE to read your notes and understand what he is saying, b/c he does give quizzes at the being of each class which you have about 15-20 mins to complete. Miss a class and you'll fall behind. Overall I learned a lot from his class.

Now he does have daily quizzes from the previous class day every class period except for testing days, but only keeps 10 out of the whole semester. Ive learn a lot.

I took VanGorkom for both A&P I and A&P II, and highly suggest him to everyone. His lectures are laid out very well, and he was really good at giving a "real world" view on the medical field. Biology is rough, and you'll need to pour some time into studying. Quizzes every day over what you learned last class, which helps you study. Go for VanGorkom

I took Eric for the 8 week summer session and had a really great experience. He writes out all the notes on the board and does not use powerpoint which makes class engaging and easier to comprehend. He takes a long time to enter grades which is frustrating but overall he is a great teacher. Hardest part was balancing study between lecture and lab.

Amazing biology class I've ever taken! Never cared for science,but he made it very fun and interesting. He uses different colors to help you remember the material. Lastly,Beware of pop quizzes which he usually has them every Monday and you'll also pass if you stay on top of note taking cause it'll help with the pop quizzes and test.

He is one of the best teachers I had so far... His lectures are amazingly detailed and not confusing at all. he will tell stories related to the topic and find better ways to make us understand it. The lab practicals are kinda hard but if u study enough you will go through them fast same with the tests.

Eric is a very likable person and is truly invested in what he is teaching. Grading criteria is extremely clear and he will answer any questions you may have. Studying is crucial, I needed about 8-15 hours (both independent studying and open labs) per week outside of class to be successful.

Eric is an amazing professor! I took Biology Fundamentals with him and enjoyed his class very much. Lectures are heavy but write down everything he lectures on and study it inside and out and youll do great! Be prepared for daily quizzes on the previous lectures. I would take him again!!

Took the 8 week summer session. He drew out all the diagrams and notes on the board so it was easy to follow. The textbook was my go-to study resource (couldn't have done it without the book). His lectures are very engaging and he brings a lot of his experiences into it which is really interesting. Overall, it was a very enjoyable class.

Eric is amazing professor for teaching because he draw pics & tell stories for you to understand, but his test is EXTREMELY HARD( & prepare to have quiz every class). He teaches you how to know the types of blood, but he asks how would you if the blood from male or female. > Take him if you want to think outside the box, not for getting A.

Don't let the INTRO fool you! This class is SO much info! But Eric is awesome and totally makes it worth it! He explains things clearly and is so accommodating. Quizzes every class over previous class material, but they're easy. Tests are 2 parts: lab and lecture. It can get overwhelming, but he's there to help with anything you need. 5/5 stars

I enjoyed having Professor Van Gorkom he is very knowledgeable. Be prepare to take quizzes every class period. Be on time because late won't let u take quiz if your late. Don't hesitate to go to Gorkom after class or during office hours for questions or need a better explanation bc he will take his time help u to understand the material.

Eric will do his best to help you understand the lecture but the test is really hard, he gives tricky questions make you to think hard before answering them. Quizzes every class & dont be late, no extra credits, so STUDY HARD as soon as you can because his test will make you freak out.

Just to let you know, miss a class and you'll miss A LOT. Im an accounting major but took Intro to A&P as a science credit, since it comes semi naturally to me. That being said I did have to work for my grade to pass this class. Textbook not really needed. Other than that, all other reviews are accurate. He was one of the best profs I've had!

Great teacher! He absolutely knows this information to the T. But this class is hard, you have to dedicate hours outside of class to succeed. The quizzes everyday were difficult as you have to explain what you are talking about as if talking to someone who doesnt understand.

Eric is a really great professor. Even though science is a hard topic, and something I do not plan to get my degree in, he made it very interesting. He is very good at teaching and making sure everyone understands what he is teaching. He truly cares for his students, and will be hard but only because he wants them to succeed.

Really great AP2 Professor. Have to attend classes and show up on time; he gives quizzes at the beginning of each class over the previous classes material, if you're late you can't take the quiz. He draws lots of pics to help you understand all of the systems and organs of the body, that helped so much. Hes really knowledgable,tells lots of stories

The majority of class is following powerpoint slides and we ask questions when confused. The class itself is brutal but he made it pretty enjoyable and he does curve grades at the end of the semester, he draws pics to make it easy to understand. Our grade was based on 2 case studies, 10 quizzes, 4 lecture exams and 4 lab practicals. Take him!

Contrary to what some are saying, this prof was very organized, and the lecture material was very thorough, not irrelevant. It's a hard class--there's no getting around that! But the lectures and drawings really prepared me for the test-no surprise questions. Had a quiz every day which helped me retain the info better. Wish I could take him again

It is a more difficult class and I spent about 15 hours a weeks outside of class studying He is very personable and a fun person to interact with. Professor Eric is definitely been one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are clear, he is knowledgeable, keeps you engaged and really wants his students to succeed. This is not an easy class by any means but it prepared me for AP2 and microbiology. He is a great instructor and very passionate. He is going to give you the grade you earn. I had to study about 8 hours outside of class time a week. Keeps his lectures entertaining and makes it easy to understand. Take lots of notes and record his lectures!

Definitely recommend him! Took him for A&P2 over 8 weeks. Great at explaining things, as well as being approachable and helpful. There is no curve but he builds in a few bonus points into each test. There is a quiz every class but it helps you stay on track, and he's not a harsh grader with that.

Eric was an amazing professor, he cares about his students and making a connection. This is a very hard class but he made it easier with small quizzes over each topic to keep you on track. There are lots of exams but he gives you all of the material needed to be successful.
