Teaches in a very biased way. He doesn't represent both sides of anything equally. Very demanding group projects and papers. Tests weren't too hard if you studied.
he is a good teacher. i did learn and did well on all assignments. he is a fair grader. doesn't ask for too much.
I learned a lot in this class. As a matter of fact it changed my whole way of thinking.Boring and confusing at times. However, he is willing to help.Tests are tough and lectures can be boring at times.Go to class and do work and it is possible to get an A.
Great man, with a wealth of knowledge in his field. If you have any trouble understanding a concept just stop by his office and he will take his time to explain things in a way that you can comprehend.
VERY hard to follow if you dont know anything about philosophy. Test was hard, but he curved it and was fair.
monotone. Almost impossible to stay awake, totally doesn't make it interesting compared to other teachers who I've taken it over with. very bland guy...he seemed to make the subject way harder than it really needed to be. I don't recommend him at all. Take Irwin instead.
He is a really nice guy! He likes to argue with you about cases and takes the opposite side of what your saying...but thats what hes supposed to do! It makes the class WAY more interesting when theres a little bit of tension in the air! I would totally recommend him!
Dr Weber is amazing! He is very intelligent and explains things so well. He takes the time to actually make sure everyone knows whats going on. If you have ANY questions whatsoever he would LOVE to sit down and help you! I totally recommend him!
Anyone that has anything negative to say about Eric is crazy. This man is very passionate about teaching and is not afaid to argue something out with you! He makes things very clear for you and does not expect you to know everything. He grades very fairly and respects that you do have other classes.
Very unclear in teaching logic. Got a lot of things wrong, and ended up being taught by class. Don't take Logic with him.
He makes a lot of little mistakes that can add to confusion on already unfamilar topics. Good teacher but sometimes he can drone on and on and get very repetitive
Unclear, doesn't explain anything, just tells his little stories.
His tests are hard and they include to much info
I wasn't crazy about his teaching style. Tests were confusing. I think the topic wasn't what I thought it should be.
Very interesting professor. He is really nice and has a very unique way of teaching. His exams are easy and he tells you what to look up in the book to get a good grade. He is REALLY helpful. Easy A if you actually do some reading. I definitely recommend him!
To much info on tests. Explains things in detail that are not important and his study guides are terrible if you get one. I wouldn't recommend him.
Thought this would be an interesting subject. Mr. Weber is nice, but, with all of his misspellings and contradicting statements, it was getting very frustrating. He is definately disorganized. Went to his office for help,he is helpful when you ask for it.
He was very subdued. I really couldn't get interested in the class. Also he doesn't let you know what standing you have in the class.
My professor for Medical Ethics. Although I was interested in the subject, he manages to make the lectures almost intolerable! He simply drags on and on and seems to have no outline but just rambles from subject to subject. Typos and grammatical mistakes on every paper from him are ridiculous. Obviously doesn't even know how to access Blackboard.
I consider myself a good student, but this guy sucks! He shouldn't be a teacher... or maybe he could take a public speaking course to learn how to get to the frickin point...
not so much a bad teacher but rahter dull. lectures are not ment to captivate you all cass yet he seems to put me to sleep every day
I didn't like this class but I got through it with a B. He wasn't hard just hard to stay interested in the material, over all he wasn't bad or hard.
Philosophy 110, is not an interesting course. What hes teaching is different philosopher's theories(Mackie and Socrates.)You have to listen to his lectures and sometimes he does want your input, but most of the time, you dont really have room to comment or contradict.Modern philosophy or knowledge is irrelavent. He is very nice,I highly recommend him
Just really hard to follow! It does get better as the semester goes on, but its not fun! Plus they dont tell you that you can skip the 110 class and go on to 111, which i hear is easier!!!
Everyone in the class was falling asleep or drawing or looking stressed out and confused. There was a full class to start with and hardly anyone there near the end. He's a brilliant man, but it takes a brilliant student to understand what he's talking about. I think he's too naturally good at it to teach it to kids that aren't.
He's a pretty good teacher and if you do a good amount of work on the assignments, read a little, and attend Phil Club meetings you can pull an A pretty easily. I fell asleep in class alot, but it definitely isn't as hard as some would say. He's pretty approachable and a nice guy who will answer most of your questions.
Very easy class, but he is very unorganized. Took it on-line and all the tests were on-line and we could take them as many times as we wanted. Easy to get a good grade, but I also learned a lot.
Class is extremely difficult, readings difficult to understand. Grading scale 92 and up is an A. Tells the class that people rarely get A's. If you do the work, go to class and pay attention, an A is not impossible. He is an extremely smart man.
He wasn't too bad, I actually liked him. He just seemed to be confused himself at times, which I don't blame him for. I don't think this class is really in his area of study. It seemed like this class was designed several years ago and it hasn't been changed much. There were even sections of the powerpoint that referred to a book we weren't using.
I really learned a lot from this professor. If you have a problem he is more than willing to help you. If you want to sleep in class and still expect to get an A, don't waste his or your time. If you read the assignments and participate in class this class is not boring. You have the option to easily earn bonus points by attending Plil Club.
Dr. Weber is a brilliant man. His 110 class is so easy if you just write a few papers on your thoughts its not that hard. He expects you to prove your point and to back it up with info. He plays devil's advocate to see how you will argue. If you want to see philosopy at work take Weber, if you want to be insulted and yelled at take Pearce.
This was a good class, hard but good. Dr. Weber is a good teacher. He lets you know what is expected and as long as you do that and do the work you can ace this class.
He didn't seem like he knew what he was even teaching. He'd say something and then realize what he said was wrong so he'd be like "oh forget about that here is the right way.." and it was extremely confusing!
Great teacher.
I hated this class. It was boring and he did not teach it well. He would just go over examples over and over and over but he would rarely explain. Many students would become completely lost. the class is also ungodly dull and boring
I took his logic class. Very easy to fall behind and become lost. Weber is kind of a push over and class turned into a circus several times throughout the semester. He is however helpful if you ask and lets you make assignments or quizzes up. Nice man, just a difficult and confusing class.
I took this online and it was a good class. He's very clear about what he wants and has a good grasp of the material. Tests are easy. Summaries and essays are also easy as long as you understand the material.
Took Comparative Religions class online. Hard to rate because he never lectured. Learned everything from the book. Dislike: doesn't accept late assignments, no matter what problems you have (had problems with computer).
Weber is a nice guy but is extremely boring! I made the mistake of taking him at 9:00am and I would rather do many other things than take his class at that time. His lectures don't really make sense and his study guides are even confusing. I will say that his blackboard site is helpful though.
Dr. Weber knows logic extremely well, and can teach it to certain people. Unfortunately, most people will not do the work they need to do in order to understand logic. When Weber says to do the homework, for the sake of your grade, do the homework. Read the book. Get in a study group and find the people that are doing well and try to get help.
kind of a tool. the book is useless but required for some writings and essays. memorize the study guides and you're golden on the test. he thinks he's a lot funnier than he is... and if you don't share the same views, he'll treat you like you're stupid. easy class though.
Took his summer logic class, and thoroughly enjoyed it. He taught the material well and was always ready to assist you if you asked him. Would definitely take another class with him.
awesome teacher! he's a really great guy and will help you out if you don't understand. you need to try but he;ll help you out along the way. Take the class. I got an A and never studied
Dr. Weber is an excellent teacher. His class can be confusing to some and he tends to ramble on sometimes which confuses you more. The book helps me some and so do the SI sessions. Dr. Weber is a good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. He tries to make the class fun and have jokes which sometimes arent funny but are logical.
I really enjoyed taking Prof. Weber's summer course on Logic. Very approachable, very understanding professor. Class was not terribly difficult at all. I'm taking another class of his this summer, too.
Great teacher if you are willing to show effort
I had this teacher for Medical Ethics and I found the class very interesting, and if you pay attention, take notes, and at least skim read the chapters you will do fine!!
I loved this class. Dr. Weber is a great teacher. He expects respect and he will return it. I attended every class and did great on the quizes. I never opened the book unless we did it in class. He is helpful and understanding. He tries to make the class fun by joking and keeping the class engaged. I had him for Medical Ethics
Fun teacher, likes to make jokes and get along with his class. Grades easy- not an easy class by any means- and not the best teacher, but if you have to take Logic I would take Weber
Very nice teacher, although the subject matter is very hard. He tries making the class fun and I really did enjoy coming to class. The material is difficult to understand, but he grades fairly easy. There are test grades, 3 papers and one debate which all contribute to your final grade. Overall, he was a good teacher.
had him for comparative religions. even though i did not have much interest in the class, i still went and paid attention. he did not seem like he cared much about the class. he assigned huge sections to read and then insane tests. he never replied to my emails and never could answer my questions, horrible experience in his class.
Comp Relig: need a big vocab to keep up. Slightly condescending so don't take if you are a strong believer in one religion or you will be offended. didn't seem like we ever really covered the content until the day before the test. Nice guy, but rambles aimlessly a lot. didn't keep control of the class very well.
I didn't like this class at all and he didn't make it any better. He's very hard and doesn't explain the material very well!
Took the class online. Manageable amount of work and easily got an A in the class. Of course, I did all the required reading. I did practice tests online that helped prepare me for the tests. I do have strong religious beliefs, so taking the class online helped me to not feel as challenged about my beliefs.
I took this course online. Very easy if you read the textbook and can understand it on your own. Waste of time if you are actually interested in religions. Zero class participation. Says he will give extra credit for good discussion board posts, but he never participated and it was impossible to start a discussion because no one responds.
Medical Ethics wasn't bad. All there are are a few quizzes and three analysis essays. One thing that bothered me was that Weber spent a whole class trying to prove that the Bible and religion are false, which has nothing to do with medical ethics class.
Online class is a joke. Easiest A EVER. The tests are questions word 4 word from Google. I completed them all with like 20 minutes to spare and 100%. You get 2 tries on the tests. You don't have to read anything. The written part for the tests isnt timed, just turn it in a Word doc and you can skim the chapters for the answers :) DO IT ONLINE!!!
He expects everyone to be philosophy majors. I sure wish I'd taken this class online so the tests wouldn't have been so hard.
The professor was good, however the content learned in this class is rather hard to comprehend and understand. Big vocabulary is used in the books and by the professor, making it extremely difficult to study content. I wish I had taken regular philosophy instead of medical ethics.
If you don't take this class online, you're an idiot. This class was so easy. I have a couple more weeks of it, and all we have done is take tests (copy and paste questions into google and can find most every answer easily). There are short answer questions, but you can find those decently in the book. Paper for final. That is all!
We had a lot of class discussion. Prof. Weber clearly was against Christianity. His tests were tough, but he gave fairly extensive study guides that were helpful. He also allowed extra credit. We had a few papers to write and a group project. Overall, this was a class that took work, but not necessarily a difficult one.
No actual work is given. All you do is read and take a test once every couple of weeks. Final paper and scripture paper are the only two papers to write. The tests aren't necessarily hard, just time consuming. I would recommend this class/instructor. (online)
Besides doing a lot of examples on the computer and worksheets, don't expect to learn anything from him. When asked to give informal logic examples to help internalize formal logic, hesitates to do so or doesn't do it at all. When you ask him for examples or informal definitions he recites facts and definitions as if he is a living book. DONT TAKE.
He makes no sense during lectures and talks the entire time. the study guides he gives you for exams do not relate to what is on the test and he very rarely values your input during class lectures. very mono-toned and many people struggle with this class.
He is a very intelligent man who could be a very good teacher, but he presumes all the new students coming into the intro course are geniuses and moves at a ridiculous pace, not waiting or caring if everyone is understanding the material. No homework, test and pop quiz heavy. First couple tests are extremely difficult to scare people into dropping.
I took it online and it was pretty easy. although every test you take you have 2 parts. one multiple choice and one written. multiple choice is easy but the written portion is difficult. he is an easy grader at first but at the end it gets tougher. You only have 6 tests and the final is a one page paper comparing two religions.
The best way to describe this proffesor is unorganized and vague on everything. No scheduled sylabbus, exams and quizzes worth most your grade are at random times. You know half his schedule was made up on the fly. Only answered half my emails. On major paper gave feedback stating there are many problems without details. Don't take.
80% test, 10% homework. 10% for quizzes. That's all I have to say
Maybe this class would be different in person, but for online it was ridiculous. The written tests would be 4-5 pages double spaced with a proper amount of detail and that still doesnt guarantee an adequate grade. He doesnt know if he wants the answers provided by the book with citations or your interpretation if you were a Philosophy major.
This class was rough. Tests are the majority of the grade, and that includes a multiple choice plus a 4 to 5 page paper. Professor tears up your papers with criticisms, but no suggestions on what to fix. Some professors will interact with you on discussion boards, this one will not. This class took up a lot of my study time.
Would not recommend this teacher. Unprofessional & disheartening to say someone who is in this profession. Even my college advisor will not be recommending this professor to anyone.
He doesn't do anything. We do things on MindTap- no lectures or anything. It's just a hard subject and it doesn't help when he's very uninvolved. Just homework and tests each unit.
-Excessive amount of homework assignments (time consuming) -Has you decode symbols instead of learn real-life concepts - A major portion of the course are the tests -Completely random quizzes -Instructor: -Is very unforgiving -Is very blunt -Lacks communication skills -Provides absolutely zero help
Honestly one of the worst teachers I've ever had. I'm a very dedicated student and I normally give teachers a chance, but he is so frustrating. The "lectures" are terribly made PowerPoints that explain absolutely nothing - don't even bother asking for clarification. You can never get full credit - even if its supposed to be your "own opinion".
All I have to say is do not take this class.
very unorganized, lectures are hard to follow, you'll do a lot of teaching yourself, goes off topic a lot, and relates things to tv shows. strong on his own opinion. slides online don't give the answers to guided notes. quizzes every week and very confusing as he doesn't explain what he wants in the writing.
I got a 4.5 gpa in high school and coming into this class as a freshman I was devastated when I had to drop this class. It is way too hard and it is not what "logic" really is, just a bunch of random symbols and the explanations make no sense. He also doesn't really give help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! IT'S NOT THE LOGIC YOU THINK IT'S A BUNCH OF DECIPHERING SYMBOLS! HARD TO UNDERSTAND
acts like everyone knows nothing and he knows everything and is NEVER wrong. accuses students of cheating when they know more than he thinks. avoid this mess.
First assignment was graded pretty hard. After you understand what he's asking from you for assignments you can obtain higher grades. A lot of writing and deciphering if you want an A. Helpful with needed extensions for assignments, just ask. Also responds quickly to emails! But yea if you hate writing a lot and thinking don't take this class lol
This professor lectures all over the place I found it difficult to follow the lecture and had to teach myself this class. On top of this, he tends to bring his political views into his lecture, which is fine when he uses it as an example once or twice, but I had a few lectures where it was almost the entire class full with his political opinion
DO NOT TAKE, this professor in his online class does not lecture AT ALL, he literally gives you chapters to read and has some assignments and then very poorly formatted quizzes and exams. There was no material to study or review it was basically teaching yourself how to do this class. I would advise you to take literally any other professor!!!
