He seems new at teaching but is nice and helpful. I wish he showed where I went wrong on the test when I received partial credit on multiple step question. I have a strong math background, so the material s easy as pie for me. But those who are not strong in math tend to scratch their heads.
Tough but fair. Has a passion for the subject.
This is proably the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. He assumes everyone is a math wiz and should know as much as him. Does not take the time to exsplain anything in a way a person who is just learning this math would understand. Dont dare ask him a question during a test he will just shrug his shoulders at you and say I dont know!
Nice guy but is too smart to explain the info to people who have never seen it. Grades slowly drop as the semester goes on.
This teacher tells you everything you need to know in a clear, concise manner, but he moves along the material fast. The tests were much more difficult than the homework and doing the problems from the book is required to prepare for tests.
Be ready to write all your notes. Tests are hard. If you are trying to learn the graphing calculator, I would suggest someone else to teach it to you.
Horrible professor I suggest you change your class. This man does not make anything clear, he expects you to know everything and if you don't he barley ever helps. What he teaches are not on the test
He is an awful professor. He assumes the skills are already known. The tests are long, and extremely hard. If you need help out of class, he has hours at the tutor center which is nice. However, if a quiz or test is missed don't expect to be able to make it up. There is no homework or extra points. WILL NEVER TAKE AGAIN. Avoid.
Not a great professor what so ever! He rushes everything and goes too fast and thinks you would know it in one day. I had to withdrawal because I did not like his teaching skills. Also, he gives about 15 sections of homework for each chapter and expects you to be done with them in three weeks. People please don't take his class.
He is a horrible math professor. Would definitely NOT take. If you miss one class you're doomed. He tries to shove three sections in one class, even if you don't understand it. Do not bother asking questions. Also good luck on tests! He puts things on that were never discussed in class and not even in the book. He teaches from the textbook.
I had to withdraw from this class. Calculus is hard to begin with, and his teaching methods don't help the cause. Extremely nice guy, but he can not teach at all. He shows his "personal" methods of doing things in class mixed in with the methods the textbook gives. That causes complete confusion. I know some others had to WD too. Very tough.
This guy is a horrible teacher.... His lectures are the most boring thing in the world. He expects you to know everything and wouldn't even teach me how to use the calculator even though that was my first college math class. He thinks everybody took the math class before that.
Erics Tests are impossible
Absolutely terrible professor. Blows through sections and expects you to know and understand them the first time around. Just awful and terrible. Gives you 15 sections of homework and only 2 weeks to do them. If you have a question about a previous section, it'll never get answered.
Professor Werley is soon nice and caring! However, he isn't the best teacher? But than again, I have known all the material for years so I did't participate in class at all since grades were purely just tests and homework. It was a very easy course in my option, but I treated it like a study hall... If you are good at math, take his course.
He was a really nice guy but a terrible teacher. He went way to fast and expects you to pretty much learn it on your own even though this was a low Math Course for students that are BAD at math. Would not take his class again.
He goes fast with his lectures but will go over things again you just have to ask. He makes himself available to help, but the class is very online base. You need to do your work to get a good grade, I mean its math you just need to know what you are doing and if not ask and he'll help.
horrible, does not give examples during his lectures. He talks very fast and expects students to learn lessons their first time hearing them. I would not recomend him unless you are good at self teaching yourself a whole course.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I'M WARNING YOU! Worst math teacher i have ever taken in my life. Literally crams in 3 section in 1 class, rushes through everything and skips slides because he expects us to know everything. Will try fitting in a whole section 10 minutes before class. His tests are actually impossible.
Impossible to pass his class. He rushes through lessons and expects you to understand everything he has taught within the 20 minutes of teaching. Do not take this class, if you have to request a different professor. This class is not worth your time, with a professor like him.
Worst professor I've taken at LCCC. He goes WAY too fast through lectures & expects you to understand stuff the first time around. Exams were very difficult and many times the material on the exams didn't match what we did in class. We would do simple examples in class, then there would be MUCH more difficult problems on the exams. Also lots of HW
I had him for 105 and 160. I was very good at math in high school, but my first year with him I almost failed intermediate math which signaled to me a red flag that I should not take him for 160 but I did any way. Horrible at teaching Math and I hope that he is either replaced or at least fired. Obviously I am not the only one who believes that.
He is a good person who does care about his students. He is very accessible outside of the class room but some of the material in his lectures are not on the tests and vice versa. The lectures are lengthy and usually go down to the last minute of class.
Eric is tough. Very fast at explaining things and just assumes you know everything before he covers the materials. Don't take unless you are a true math whiz. Take Prof Maikner or Prof Filiziani instead.
He is very awful at actually teaching. He's a nice guy and very approachable and will try to always help you when he can. But our whole class was struggling to stay afloat and pass his class because he really just didn't teach well.
Horrible professor, he reads directly off the slides and goes extremely fast. He is the worst professor I've had over the past 2 years. I guess this is why he is a prof at a community college.
Although he is kind, his teaching is horrendous. Through hours and hours of studying, the criteria covered is too much to master. He goes through 3-4 sections per class. Every 2 weeks, 12-15 sections of online homework of 8-12 questions each are due. All of my classmates struggle and if you dont do well on one exam, youre basically gonna fail.
I've taken him for MAT105 and MAT160, got an A in both. Follow along with the lecture, do the homework, and prep for tests with the book assignments. You will be fine. He gives big partial credit if you show that you understand problems, or at least try them. I don't know why other reviewers are so hostile towards him.
He's a nice person but his teaching style is terrible. He goes way too fast and what he puts on the test are the hardest problems. If you ever study for his test, study the hardest homework problems because they'll be on the test. He dropped 2 of the lowest quiz grades but it didn't help much. He goes over too many sections in one class period.
He explains course material very clearly and systematically while showing the logic behind his method without the usage of textbooks or relying on presentations. Great professor for people who are interested in math. Challenging tests! However, he spent too much time on earlier chapters, and we rushed through harder stuff. I think he will improve.
Would not recommend this professor unless this is the only class you are taking and you have the money for a gazillion tutors. He doesn't explain anything, chooses the most difficult problems for exams and homework and does not explain how to do them. Does not answer questions. Lectures way too quick. Expects way too much for this class.
He is the worst teacher at Lehigh carbon community college. Absolute worst decision I have ever made to take this class. If I had the chance to undo something from my past, it would be the decision to take Eric werley's algebra class. Anyone considering taking his class, I strongly encourage you to save yourself the extreme distress and not take it
One of if not the worst professor I have ever had. Reads directly off the slides, goes extremely quick and honestly makes the math A LOT more harder than it needs to be. Its pretty ridiculous how he "teaches", if that. The tests are the hardest questions he could find, and are always VERY extensive and difficult. only grades on tests.
This is my second time taking College Alegbra. Professor Werley talks extremely fast and seems to care more about getting through the lesson plans rather than actually teacheing. This class is extremely hard to understand. He does respond to emails quickly and is willing to help if you need it outside of class.
Didn't teach. Most of the class taught themselves. Not very accessible. Very hard class. Do not take this professor if you do not have to!!!
Tests are ridiculous
Eric is a stereotypical math professor (in a good way). He's sweet and has his nerdy moments, but he's very knowledgeable about the course material. I definitely think there's some room for improvement in terms of his lecturing style, but you definitely need to pay attention to understand what's going on. I'm confident he'll continue to get better.
A lot of work, and a lot of information in a single lecture. Explains things well, but you aren't given time to really digest it. The homework was tedious, and I never had a good idea of what would be on the tests.
One of the worst teachers
He is really good at explaining the material and the lectures make sense most of the time. However, I think he could use some work on communication skills. Does not respond to emails in a timely manner. Also, the study guides were INSANELY long: 150 prep questions for a 14-question exam seems rather extreme.
If you aren't prepared for tests, they will wreck your grade. Tests have a very heavy grade weight and a review exam is given out during the first week. Lectures are lengthy powerpoint readings with no actual examples to help understand the content in time. Better off teaching yourself, course gets very hard, be ready or hope you can withdraw.
I took Werley for college algebra and didnt pass. His exam study guides are 100+ questions and he does not give partial credit for test questions. He doesnt go over problems in class and does not engage the students.
By far the worst math professor for LCCC, I highly recommend to never take him unless you have to and can dedicate all of your time to it. Tests are 10-15 questions max. No partial credit, grades are based off of tests and its always the most difficult questions he can find. Lectures are him speeding fast telling what to do not teaching.
Eric Werley is the most careless professor I've ever had. I've taken his class TWICE because I got a D the first time hoping to improve my grade because that was not an acceptable grade. I took it again, and my grade somehow managed to go DOWN. Tell me how I can get A's and B's in advanced chemistry classes but I can' pass Werley's basic algebra.
Having Eric Werley as your math teacher means teaching yourself everything at home... He's a nice person but doesn't really teach. He just skims through the entire powerpoint for each unit and doesn't go through examples. He kinda just writes a whole problem on the board and does it in front of us but doesn't explain what he's doing.
Horrible class. Heavy lectures. Does not hold office hours. If you ask question in class it is forbidden. Reads directly off of powerpoint not helpful or considerate.
I have never receive this grade ever in my life for math or any other subject Im telling you, this man gives study guide with 180+ questions and exams are 14 questions and they are always harder than the questions found on the study guide , this semester all my grades were As except this course and I spent more time on this course than any other.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This professor does not care about anyone passing the class. He is incredibly tough on exams and does not go in book or any order at all. Lectures are extremely boring and consist of him rapidly screaming through his power points. Does not offer extra credit. The worst professor ever.
Awful
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He just reads off the Power points and is almost proud of the fact that half the class will either drop out or not pass. His tests are very hard and he does not review and the study guides that are provided are not helpful.
I'm not sure he understands how to instruct a collegiate course. His power points and lectures come directly from the book. He reviews concepts that should have been pre-read before class and does not expand beyond what is written in the book. His study guides are simple problems and then the tests are like nothing you were provided in class.
THE WORST PROF! If you need to take andy math class MOST certainly do NOT take it with Werley. He will not help you succeed in your college career. The infromation he teaches is pointless to the lesson.
His lectures were boring and didn't help towards homework and the homework didn't help when studying for tests. It was as if all the material was different. He also didn't do well with answering urgent emails when needed.
the test is what counts for your grade the most. quizzes and homework barely did anything to my grade. I once had a 83.4 and after taking a 50 question test on pearson and getting 100 on it, it went up to 83.7. would not recommend anyone to take him. if you need to take math 105, take it with Maikner. She is awesome and always helpful
Worst professor
The absolute worst professor. U teach urself the material through Pearson and all the homework is graded by Pearson. All he does is give u 3 tests & 1 final. The tests R every 10-15 sections & there R only about 12-15 Qs on each 1 which makes it impossible to study for. Doesnt email back. Just a terrible person and professor. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Homework heavy class but the homework is worthless for grading. Grade heavily relies on quizzes and exams. Got a bad grade on my final and he never let me review or answered questions about what I got wrong on the exam. I DO NOT recommend this professor.
I can't describe the amount of distress I was in while taking this class. He shouted his way through Powerpoints that he barely went over. The exams were difficult and barely applied to what he had "taught" in class. My class started with probably 20 people and ended with 6 or 7. For sanity's sake, please avoid all classes with this professor.
Teaching is horrible, he taught pretty fast, and barely give example to students. He graded the exam very slow. Lots of homework, Quizzes. The exams are the different from the lesson. Dun take this class for Credit or as a GenEd
He is so bad and so strict he won't even let you have an absence and does not tolerate excuses, as written in his own syllabus, no excuse is acceptable including deaths.
Would not recommend taking an online course if you're someone who is 5 years out of high school and need a refresher because this professor does not answer his emails, so I am just struggling and not understanding certain material.
Professor Werley is a very nice yet nerdy individual. Unfortunately, he is not a good teacher. He makes the content a lot harder than it needs to be. He reads directly off the slides and doing questions without explanation on how to do it. Tests are nothing on what he teaches and study guides are not helpful. Overall don’t take him.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. he is terrible if you are beginning your first of college. 90% of the student dropped out or stopped showing up. when he should be only doing higher classes. you prepare for math questions that aren't even on the exam. He is extremely terrible and overcomplicates the simplest examples in his lectures.
Takes a very long time to grade student assignments. Does not tell you what you got wrong on unit tests. Does not reply to student questions.
He gave no communication during his online summer class. Zero understanding of how to be professional or write back in a timely manner. I waited 3 weeks for a response about a test. Terrible professor... AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Not very good at communicating, and takes long to reply to emails. Did anyone taking his summer course have trouble with the final exam?
I think he might be allergic to emails or something. At least it feels like that with how long it takes for him to respond to anything. Get ready to have to send in assignments late from him not answering questions or sending out passcodes for tests.
I don't do ratings but I have the obligation to say something. I've taken a few of his classes and by far you could not find a worse professor, even if you try. He has the personality of a rock, exams are difficult with no indication of what's going to be on them, and getting feedback is like pulling teeth. Math at 4yr colleges are so much better
never responds emails, exams weight insanely heavy on the grade, overall organization of the online class is horrible, if he addresses the students/class is very unfriendly
A grifter that LCCC must be compensating for his lgbtq stances rather than teaching math. They use a system called ALEKS for MA160. I sent him 5 emails and to date no reply. So I paid $700 for what amounts to an "AI proctored" class. The only thing I hope is that future advances in this type of technology will leave Eric Werley without a job.
Lack of actual resources to self-teach yourself course (Yes: PPT, Lectures, and ALEXS are available, however he provides zero support. 5 weeks into this class and have spent over 90+ hours when I had him last semester I didn't spend that much time. He has a lack of response, or not at all. Save your mental health and sanity and avoid him.
This class is a nightmare. Have a question about a problem? Good luck figuring it out. Waiting for a reply to that email you sent? Not going to get it. Thought you could have a few days to breathe for spring break? Nope. If you enjoy teaching yourself and aren't bothered being graded basically only on test scores, this class is for you.
I had to contact my guidance counselor almost 5 times and send this professor multiple emails before he finally got back to me. He has no office hours and shows no interest in helping students. When I finally got a hold of him we met over Zoom and he interrupted me constantly and wasn't interested in listening to my questions.
I was terrified to take this professor based on all the negative reviews, but after taking him online for two semesters I don't understand why he's so hated. He tells you exactly what you need to do to pass, "drops" your lowest exam grade, and (at least for me) responded to all my e-mails in 1-2 days tops. I found his class to be really easy.
Awful teacher - he does not answer his emails causing you to be late on your assignments. He does not follow up with the class. I'm taking other courses and my teacher reminds me were we are in the week. Overall horrible person to communicate with. Thinking about just withdrawing this course and looking for another instructor.
Horrible
I am only giving him a 1 becasue you cannot assign a zero. It is clear he hates students and should never be allowed to teach, if that is what he calls it. Will not answer emails, or answers days later with anwers that are not helpful. If you want to learn anything, or pass, do not take his class.
The online course is advertised as self paced, however he didn't put the first exam up until 6 days before its due date. Now, the course ends in 6 days and he still has yet to make available the second exam and the final which is supposed to take 3 hours. He's also a horrible email answerer. Took almost a week the first time I emailed him.
No hyperbole - the worst professor I've had. His algebra course is the most poorly taught and structured class I've taken. 1) Study guides are massive but barely resemble the types of Qs on the exams. 2) A 10-week course with 3/4 in the last weeks in the last 4 weeks. 3) Slow to respond to emails. 4) He doesn't care. Don't take a class with him.
When I reached out to ask for help he mentioned to me he was on vacation and was going to get back at me the following week. HE NEVER TAUGHT CLASS!!! He only had power points. So we had to teach ourselves.
Took MAT160 with Eric during Fall '24. Only head from him twice. He uploaded second-hand PowerPoints to Canvas that I guess he thought were helpful (spoiler: they weren't). There were also linked videos in Canvas, but they were never his teaching, nor helpful. Taught myself with Youtube (Eddie Woo) and my textbook. Werley is not a teacher.
I had to withdraw from the class because his grading system made zero sense. I was at a low 80% and kept getting high 90s but my grade was still dropping. He never responded to my emails, and he took forever to grade our exam work. He also told us he would give us practice problems and he never did. I would not recommend this professor at all.
Do not take class with Eric Werley. He does not respond to emails and provides little to no guidance for the course. We are expected to teach ourselves all the material. Study guides are useless, not enough time for exams, Just awful, Save your time and DO NOT take class with this professor .
Do not take any of his only classes. They are very work heavy and complete learning on your own. Highly do NOT recommend this course if you haven't had any prior knowledge of stats and probability!
From our first email interaction, I got a bad feeling about this instructor. I am doing well in the class so far. He does not have his own slides and is unaware of the problems with the homework and quizzes. A question in the last quiz even had a bug and was impossible to graph, leading to me answering "wrong"! Would not recommend him at all.
This was by far the worst class I have ever taken, especially because it was online. He doesn't answer emails and doesn't help. The homework basically teaches you (and at that it makes no sense) DO NOT TAKE THIS!!!
Take statistics with another instructor. Do not waste your time, because he puts in as little effort as he possibly can to be considered a teacher.
