Great teacher, funny guy and really knows his stuff when it comes to history. If you like history, this is the professor for you.
Mr Wolters is a great teacher. He tries his best to make things clear to his students. Hes very easy-going, and laid back, and is very lenient towards assigments. His grading is awesome. I would love to take another of his classes. Keep up the great work!
Amazing, funny and smart. Will be taking additional courses with him.
Great teacher! Always helpful!!!
He is a great teacher. He makes History very interesting and fun. He is very entertaining. You must take this class, you will love it.
Great professor! Very nice, funny and grades fairly. Very reasonable and always willing to work with students. Class is always interesting and you actually learn from it (which we all know is rare @ phcc). I highly recommend Prof Wolters, definitely take a class with him if you have the opportunity.
Fantastic teacher. His tests are difficult at times, but her thoroughly covers everything in class in an interesting and thoughtful fashion. He is a very understanding teacher and an extremely fair grader, but he will make sure you learn the material... no easy A's here! I would highly recommend him, he is simply a wonderful educator.
do all his work and you will pass he is very reasonable and accommindating but if you keep up with his work it's easy
Florida History- Pretty humoreous class. He made the classes pretty interesting on a very dull subject. There are a lot of journal readings but the response papers are pretty short so it's not horrible. I would deffinitely take another one of his classes
Absolutely phenomenal professor. Literally every class is enjoyable. His lectures are insightful, funny, and smart. Grades fairly. This was my third class with him and he is consistently the best professor I have.
American federal government. I ended up with a 105% in this class. It took a LOT of effort and many hours of studying but there were NO surprises with this prof! He taught the material well, and gave exact definitions that were on the tests...and he kept them worded exactly the same! His papers were TOUGH,the reading material was difficult and hard
Just a very fun person to be around. Teaches very well and is very clear on what he wants done, if he can get his schedule in order. Can usually stay on topic as long as he doesn't pass over any part of Rome or China in Google Earth.
Truthfully, he talks like Alton Brown from Good eats on the food network. Obveralcause I hated the subject the class wasboring. It didhve it's funny times though as I would take this teacher again.
Mr Wolters is a bit of an acquired taste when most professors at PHCC prefer to baby their students along. He will not. He is a knowledgeable teacher and great guy once you realize what exactly it is that he expects from his students; and that is interest and genuine comprehension of the subject matter. Definitely recommended.
He gets off topic a lot. He doesn't manage time well. He follows the Gordon Rule. When he explains things he will start to talk about something else. He defiantly isn't an easy class and in my opinion a horrible teacher because he can't stay on track. Then he expects students to do well on his test even when he never covered the material.
This professor does have you write in this class, as others have mentioned, but it isnt as bad as you might think. His lectures are entertaining and he is at times funny. He can be helpful if you ask for help. I would recommend this course to anyone.
He gets off topic quite often but when he is on topic he gives a lot of information for the test so PAY ATTENTION if you want to pass the test. Not an easy class to sleep through, but easy if you study and pay attention. Essays can be easy if you are awake enough to read the material to write about. Would definitely recommend.
Mr Wolters is an incredibly smart and suprisingly funny teacher! I really enjoyed Am Hist 2 with him. His tests are very passable but are heavily based on his lectures - take notes on his stories! One thing that would help is timely feedback on papers. He gets tests graded and back quickly though. Overall one of the best professors I've ever had!
I'm new to Prof Wolters, but am jazzed about his teaching style already. He's funny, brilliant, and enthusiastic. As long as you take good notes (and lots of them!) you'll do fine. I think he's wonderful!! 5*****
pay attention!! take spark notes along with using online powerpoint. study, study, study
Good teacher, enthusiastic, makes stupid jokes, really nice guy. His tests are hard if you do not study, but if you take some notes and do his study guides the class is easily passable
Mr. Wolters is extremly smart and helpful. It's not an easy class but u will enjoy it.Take notes and study alot.Attendance is mandatory. Tests are half essay, half fill in the black with word bank provided + 3 knowledge tests at the end of semester. overall, not an easy class but I would take another class with him and enjoy just like history 1 !!
I absolutely LOVED professor Wolters. I took some of my first dual enrollment classes with him and he was amazing. The classes really weren't that interesting but he made them worth going to and when I saw on this website that he used to teach at USF I had a heart attack because I go there now and am majoring in poly sci and wish he was still here!
Mr. Wolters is an amazing teacher that will add humor to his large array of knowledge. I have learned so much in his class and he makes everything very clear in his expectations of his students. His work and test will challenge you, but not to hard that you can't get a good grade. Take notes, and study and you will do great.
Professor Wolters is an amazing teacher. I learned a great deal in his class and he was funny and down to earth. Wonderful attitude and his knowledge is amazing. Tests are challenging, but if you take notes and study you will get a good grade. I would take other classes with him.
Fantastic professor! He's very helpful, and easy to follow. I hated history before this class, but now I look forward to learning from him. Tests are easy if you study and take notes. All essays are two pages or less. I would definitely take a class with him again!
I took Wolters for history and Government and he is an AMAZING teacher that I highly recommend. He knows everything about the topics he discusses and is very funny, nice, and laid back. Tests are pretty easy considering all test material is on study guide and powerpoints he gives you. Learned a lot from him too
Mr. Wolters is an interesting man. Do not take this class if you're a poor writer. The tests are pretty easy, even though lecture isn't much help. Just as long as you study the given vocabulary and topics in the syllabus, tests are easy, at least a B+ if anything. Essay's can be difficult so stay on top of your game in this class.
I'm really not interested in government, but professor Wolter's lectures aren't bad. He clearly knows what he's talking about and he can make it fun. It's not the easiest class, but you can pass if you study. He was my favorite teacher this semester for sure. (The online articles are pretty boring so watch out)
He is hysterical. He's so funny and uses such great word choice. He makes boring things interesting, and has traveled everywhere so he has tons of stories. Everyone I know loves him. He lets you fix part of your test. I barely cracked open the texbook. Start studying for the basic knowledge quizzes early. He's an encyclopedia of obscure information
What can I say, Mr. Wolters was an excellent instructor. He knew the material extremely well and was able to inject some humor into his lectures. Numerous writing assignments but fairly relaxed grading. No free lunch, but a little effort will go a long way. Wish I could have worked his AMH into my schedule this semester.
Extremely interested in what he teaches which makes the class 10x more interesting and much easier to pay attention in!
Best professor I have ever had! I've never liked history or gotten anything above a C in a history class, but this has been my favorite class out of my 3semesters of college. This man seriously knows his stuff. His tests aren't easy, but if you go to class and pay attention (its hard not to), you will be fine. DEF take him if you have the chance
First, you do not need the textbook. Buy a cliff notes review of American fed govt. and that is all you need. Secondly if you write poorly you will get bad grades on your essays. Take good notes and you will pass. He has a plethora of knowledge and is interesting to listen to. Enjoyed his class. Kudos mr wolters.
Great instructor, he enjoys what he does and it shows. Attend class, take notes, and pay attention and you will pass. I would take another class with him. I highly recommend.
Great professor. I took him for history 2 and wish i had taken him for 1 as well. I learned to write slides down on index card with headings on other side of card, makes for easy study flash cards. I bought an AP US history study workbook it helped study even though it was a college class. definitely recommend him. Final examstates, pres, amends
You can pass the class as long as you sit for his lectures. It is honestly not even a trial. He explains everything on the test and if you miss a day, you can just go over the PowerPoints on canvas. Tests literally come directly from those. Do your homework; take a quick hour every other Sunday and you are bound to get an A, even if it is late
Dr. Wolters can be a bit boring during his lectures, but he really knows what he's talking about. He wants a ton of citations in the homework - like every other line. The assignments are easy and if you study the tests are easy. On the first day he tells you everything that will be on the final exam, which was really easy as well. Great teacher!
Expect lots of work for his class. Four 2 page essays, six one page essays. Over 50 vocabulary words that you have to memorize for each test as well as 3-4 essays on each test. There are 4 tests total and you have to know all the states in the order they joined the union, all 27 amendments in order and all the Presidents in order for the final.
Eric is very good professor. He makes history fun and interesting by not only teaching you about historical events, but he adds interesting details about the people or places that a text book wouldn't tell you. His tests are pretty simple. The really cool thing about his tests is that he lets you correct your wrong answers for half a point.
I took Professor Wolters for both American Government and History of Florida. He is the nicest guy, but at the same time a great professor. He taught me a lot and although there are lots of essays, you become a better writer and actually learn even more. He is not strict on grading, he really just wants class participation! I would take again!
Mr. Wolters made a class I had to take actually interesting. International relations sounds boring and trust me it is. but he makes it fun and active, passionate about his work. lectures can be a little long winded but you actually learn a lot. good guy gives great feedback and always there to help, don't skip to much he hates that lol.
Professor Wolters was a really good teacher overall. I took a summer class with him, so it was more relaxed, but there were still plenty of papers and other written assignments to turn in. Skipping work isn't an option, but he's understanding if there are issues with you submitting your work.
Easy A if you show up to class and participate. Tests are easy and you should study for them. All other assignments are grades pretty easily.
Professor Wolters makes the class interesting. I personally am not a big history buff but thoroughly enjoyed his class. He goes over a powerpoint the whole class but makes it interesting with humor and interesting facts. There are a lot of one or two page papers you have to write throughout the semester but he grades fairly.
I could not recommend Professor Wolters enough. Super down to earth and extremely understanding.
Great class, just got annoyed with the essays. Wound up not going to class because I didn't finish the essays and I failed. But the professor is great. He really made Government interesting
Down to earth, his class is very easy but a lot of work and nothing but short papers. No work in class, everything is at home online, tests are take home which is great!
Wolter's rocks.
I took American Federal Government online and honestly didn't know what to expect with Wolters, but the class is pretty great, he grades fairly and punctually, and I definitely learned a lot. I would certainly take him again
Wolters was my first professor and I've had him every semester since. He's a truly caring person who's willing to help you if you're ever in a tight situation. The textbook isn't as necessary as he says it is. He lets you fix your wrong answers on the fill in the blank tests. If you want to make him happy bring up Andrew Jackson.
The best professor I've ever had. I normally hate history but he turned it into my favorite class. His lectures are amazing and his grading criteria are clear. This class is very enjoyable and very easy to pass. I would take it a million times if I could.
Enthralling lectures, amazing personality, but a decently high amount of homework. I plan on taking another of his classes as I learn really well with his teaching style, which is fantastic lectures.
An amazing teacher, however, if you don't come to class, you will not pass. The textbook doesn't do a good job of informing you on what will be on the tests. He goes over everything really well and makes it interesting. There are study guides for everything and some writing assignments due each week. 10/10 would recommend, funny and knowledgeable.
Great Class! Is caring will answer questions and emails. Provides vocab words for the test beforehand and provides them for the quiz. Attend lectures to get better info for the writing portions of the test. (or read). You really have to do absolutely nothing to not pass this course. He's very engaging and enthusiastic in lectures.
Took American History 1 from this professor. Lectures were long, but very interesting. He does assign a lot of papers, but theyre pretty easy. Very willing to help, and gives out good study guides for his tests, which are manageable. Textbook is not a requirement, but will help. Not an easy class, but if you just apply some time youll get an A
There were 4 650 word papers along with 5 320 word papers. There are 4 tests (if he kept up with the syllabus) with "matching"(B:b, A:a) vocab questions and short response questions. There are no midterms or finals. He does have 3 "basic knowledge quizzes" at the end but they are really easy. He does give extra credit opportunities.
Awesome teacher! Very engaged with the students and you can email him with any questions and you're guaranteed a quick response.
A word of warning to anyone looking to take his class online: he locks modules so that you can only view and work on them the week they are due. I absolutely would not recommend him if you work full-time or are taking other courses that require any effort at all. This class requires a LOT of reading and writing. He also takes forever to grade.
He's a cool dude, but he gives soooo many essays I just got tired of it. If you plan to take American Federal Gov. and there are other good professors teaching it, I'd recommend to take someone else. He had us do a discussion, along with an essay test and a quiz (like every week) and then THREE DAYS TO GET 6 PAGES WORTH OF FILM REACTIONS DONE
VERY RIGOROUS COURSE. This class entailed lots and lots of work, but while the course was difficult, Professor Wolters made the work predictable so it would be easier to incorporate into a schedule. Would not recommend to anyone with little spare free time, as this class absorbed all of mine.
The only reason to really go to lectures is because he gives you a word bank and essay questions that will be on the test. Besides that, all the assignments are online and typically don't correlate with what we do in class. Like he says, the class is more on building skills than content. Be cautious as due dates will sneak up on you.
Great professor, who gives great lectures.
He had to be one of the THE best teachers I've ever had. I wish I could've had him irl. The course in general contains a LOT of writing but I took a summer class and he was super leniant. He gave us extended due dates and extra credit for the 4th of July. Just beware of the Film Reactions, they sneak up on you. They are open all semester!
Mr. Wolters is an excellent instructor. Despite this being an online class, his interaction and feedback make it feel much more like an "on-site" class. If you have a real interest in federal government, you'll find this class to be very informative emphasizing the importance of being informed and actively participating. One of my all time favs.
This professor is amazing! He really helps you throughout the semester when it comes to work load. He is always willing to answer questions and assist students when they are feeling overwhelmed. Also his online class layout is extremely well done
Lots of work, but a good class.
FYI he is a hard grader. There are many assignments which make it hard to complete with other courses. He checks all work for stolen material especially from quizzlet. Beware of amount of essays that are hard to understand and watch out for timed test! Too much work each week; quiz, essay test, essay papers, discussions and video response papers.
This is not an easy "A" at all. You will work your butt off for it. He is a very harsh grader, taking points off if you don't indent a paragraph on your papers, for example. I love writing papers; however, you are ALWAYS writing papers, essays, discussions, film reactions. Weekly quizzes. That said, I am learning so much & glad I took the class.
Quite a bit of work to do, but all pretty easy. I would say he's probably pretty generous, because I don't remember getting less than a 100 on anything he graded manually. Quizzes aren't hard either. It really does seem like he cares about the subject, and I always appreciate that.
Love this guy! He has such a great sense of humor and made learning so much fun. I look him for three semesters and loved his classes. Its clear to see how much he loves what hes teaching and he makes history his own little story. My friends and think the only way he knows some of the secretes and fun facts is that he was actually there :0
Routine and repetitive. For each module- a discussion post, a quiz, and an essay test- answer 4 questions in a short written response. There are four 2 page essays based on interesting articles. He has a really clear rubric for grading as well. I didn't do any of the chapter readings, I just skimmed over it as I went along with the assignments.
professor wolters is the most amazing professor ever. he cares so much about his students & that means a lot. his lectures are great, he gets side tracked & tells cool stories. I would take him again & again.
Professor Wolters is my favorite professor so far! He is very understanding and gives terrific lectures. He mentioned that the book is essential, so I would get it and skim it, but I never used it. I was in his class Spring 2020 when COVID happened. So halfway thru the semester, we had to switch to an online course. It was super easy still!
Professor teaches well and with your assignments will allow you to review them and gives good feedback. The class is not difficult, but you do have to read the textbook and really think outside the box with the essays.
Professor Wolters classes are lecture heavy and almost always would run 5 or 10 minutes past the time class was supposed to end. There was a lot oh homework, quizzes, film assignments, writing assignments, etc. However, even though the class is content heavy he was funny and his lectures were interesting if you're really into government.
Not too much work. He says to read the book but you dont really have to. Super nice, his lectures were really interesting and he has a good personality that makes it easy to sit through. I dont know how much information I will have retained but thats my fault not his. How much you wanna learn here is up to you. He does his part.
Took this class fully online so never interacted with the teacher. He only emailed when he made a mistake in his end but the class was fairly easy and every week had the same amount of work (discussion, quiz, test) only 4 major writing assignments you can work on anytime. Slow grading, but overall a stress free class. Only used the book a little.
Professor was very nice and flexible, but the class is a good amount of work. The textbook is a must and there is a lot of reading and usually an hour or so worth of videos a week. Modules end with essay tests, which as fairly simple as long as you have skimmed the chapter.
Its a normal class, not super hard but not an easy A. I used my textbook for the essay tests. Allows late work.
Your standard American History class. The syllabus clearly outlines everything needed for the class. Pretty easy to get an A as long as you read directions clearly, and turn everything in on time. Should have no problem getting an A+ if you just follow directions and read what he wants.
"This course is designed to be difficult but not impossible" Each Week; read over 40pgs, write 1 paragraph, 1 paragraph replying to another student, chapter quiz, then essay test with multiple paragraphs answering questions. Along with other essays assignments in between. If you struggle with History this isn't going to be a walk in the park.
The class is pretty easy, just a discussion board post of 300 words minimum, reply of 50 words, multiple choice quiz and test weekly. There's 4 major writing assignments throughout too. He's sometimes easy or hard on grading. As long as you do the work, write accurate and detailed explanations, and don't completely BS it, then you should be fine.
Saw Professor Wolters out in public the other day and remembered how much I loved his class. Took War and Society and then American Government with him. His lectures were incredible and that not only did he KNOW what he was talking about, but genuinely enjoyed it which made the class amazing. If you like history, take all of his classes.
Just want to say that Eric Wolters is the BEST professor I've ever had. I'm horrible at history and somehow I ended up with a 98% in his course. I am also lazy when it comes to work, and the biggest papers we had were 620 words. Literal essays every 3 weeks! Easiest course ever, TAKE. PROFESSOR. WOLTERS.
Great professor. Assignments are spread out and easy to do.
Not an easy A, but not too hard, requires a bit of effort. There's a discussion on a video/article, 4-question essay test, 20-question quiz, per week. All the answers can be found in the textbook, as well as in the additional resources he links like PowerPoints. There's 4 major essays you can start anytime in between. He grades slowly though.
Prof. Wolters has to be one of the best professors I have had. He is passionate about his work and gives amazing lectures. The class is made up of weekly discussion posts, writing assignments, and tests. You will have to read a lot but the content is NOT hard. He is very understanding if you have to miss lecture because of your personal life.
I learned a lot in this class. There are 3 assignments per week a class discussion, 20 question test, and a written test that has four questions. There are also 4 writing assignments that aren't too bad. Teacher takes a while to grade but you learn a lot and the class is pretty interesting.
Best lectures I have ever had. Lectures are more helpful than any textbook or video, they are in depth but also entertaining. He genuinely cares about students and teaching and is funny which makes lectures fun. This is the history professor to take.
Overall it's a pretty easy class, but the professor makes life a lot more stressful as he doesn't really ever grade nor does he respond to emails even if they're important. Messes up due dates and unlock dates for assignments very often and then doesn't check emails when students try to point it out. Wouldn't take a class with him again.
Excellent teacher knows the material very well and explains easily including jokes and interesting statistics relating to courses too. the course is regular difficulty
An excellent teacher is flexible if something comes up and you cannot make the deadline. just a quiz and discussion each week with a few longer essays and tests in between like 4 not too hard throughout the whole course. grades fairly not harshly, fun and well-spoken professor able to explain lectures well while making it enjoyable for students.
I took Professor Wolters for both AMH2010 and AMH2020 (A in both), and he is an amazing professor and always keeps lectures engaging and fun! He isn't a super tough grader, so just genuinely try your best and work hard and you should be well within the reach of that A! Take Professor Wolters!!
This professor was just alright. He was a tough grader at times and did continuously give extensions on due dates after the assignment was supposed to be due which could be frustrating. Work was a decent amount with 1 discussion post a week, 1 20 question multiple choice quiz and 2 short essay response questions. Could be an A if you work for it.
Professor Wolters is an amazing lecturer. This is the only history class I ever took that I wasn't bored in. You can easily see that he is passionate about all things history. He is a fair grader. However, he "hates to grade" so don't expect things to be graded right away. As long as you do the work and participate, it's an easy A.
Took American Federal Government with him, he is a really nice professor and probably one of the best ones you will ever have, if you have any issues or questions he will respond. Assignments are really straightforward and somewhat easy, you have a lot of time to write the essays, and everything on the quizzes is in the textbook.
Professor Wolters has a strong passion for what he teaches. Sometimes his lectures can get a little off track from the assignments but reading the book helps as well. Each chapter is like 30-40 pages long so get ready to read. Fair grading. No group projects. Overall, a good guy.
Amazing teacher, very understanding. His storytelling and way of explaining things is very engaging. Would definitely recommend
Engaging lectures, but the workload can be heavy. Use unstuck ai alongside the textbook to prep for tests. Fair grading, though slow response times. Overall, a rewarding but demanding course.
Great lectures. He's genuinely passionate about what he teaches. there are 15 30 question open note quizzes due every Sunday on each chapter, 5 320 word papers on small informative webpages, 3 620 word essays on 10 page journal articles. there's also a few other assignments but there not to bad. He is slow to grade but at least he's an easy grader.
great lecturer & clearly passionate about what he teaches. gives two weeks for each textbook chapter (very helpful). assignments can be writing-heavy, but as long as you display an understanding of the material, he will grade you highly. recommended, but only if you're genuinely interested in Roman history.
Professor Wolters is the BEST professor at PHSC hands down!!!!!!! He's very passionate about history and understands that this class is a required course for graduation and he wants everyone to pass. He would put in 100s for some of the assignments towards the end of the year as we didn't get to them in time. I've taken AMH2010, 2020 and EUH 2012.
THIS is the person you want to have for a History Professor!
This professor was such a nice guy, gave great feedback and was sympathetic to the speed of his courses. For example, for the Summer course, he gave very generous grace period for assignment submission. He provided valuable reminders. He made this class interesting and I learned a lot because of the way he taught the class!
My favorite professor I've ever had. 100% recommend.
Easy to pass
He's extremely sweet. He loves to ramble on during class but it is enjoyable. He was very sweet about letting me do old assignments that were closed as long as you reach out to him and ask. Favorite teacher of this semster
Probably the best professor at PHSC
