Professor Yordy has class participation with a class of 150 students. He is helpful, knows his stuff, professional, and very friendly. His tests are about real life sitations alot of the time (in business law acc 205) and are sometimes a bit tricky? However, he graded the tests multiple ways with different weights and took the higher grade.
Yordy is a stud. Made an extremely boring class bearable. Very easy to talk to, makes you feel important.
Yordy is tons of fun!
Awesome guy, will do as much as possible to help you out if you just contact him
I thought the class was worth my time. The material for the most part is interesting and he is willing to help if you need it. The class is pretty hard but I'd rather take an interesting class and get a B rather than a boring class and get an A.
Great teacher. I highly recommend him.
Yordy rocks.
The most badass dork that ever walked the Franke....
go to his classes, he is an awesome professor!
just plain amazing. great teacher and hes the assistant dean so get on his good side
Amazing teacher. Gives great examples, just show up and pay attention in class. Extremely helpful and nice. Take him for as many classes as you can.
If every professor I had, was as great as Yordy, I would have straight A's, and never miss a class. The FCB needs more professors like him! You want him for a teacher!
Yordy is one of the most genuine professors ever and takes the time to get to know every one of his 130 students in his lectures. Willing to help you understand material and does curve his tests. Go to the SI sessions if you're having trouble.
His lectures about real life situations but it doesn't even translate into the quizzes or exams but he's a good teacher and knows what hes doing
Yordy is a really cool person, but this class is nearly impossible. There is a huge group project and if you get stuck with people who don't do anything, it's a nightmare. He goes really in depth with his lectures. But sometimes he will start talking really fast, so take notes on a computer. The tests are awful. The average grades are a D, so study
Yordy is a really exciting, humorous teacher who takes all his examples from his own real life experiences as a lawyer. He makes the tests for the ACC205 classes, so if you're in his class you'll see similar examples. It's not an easy class, there's a lot of memorizing involved, and a huge group project. But he made it very interesting and fun.
Yordy is one of my favorite professors I have ever had. He takes the time to learn everyone's names and chats with you before class starts. He actually enjoys what he does and uses his past experience as a lawyer to give great examples that you will see on the tests. It is not an easy class. Study hard and take the project seriously!
Great, interesting lecturer. He often uses real life scenarios that he's been through as a lawyer to explain concepts, and it works out excellently. Sometimes I felt like skipping class, but his lectures are so interesting that I actually wanted to go. Overall, Yordy's teaching style is very effective, and you get the grade you work for.
Majority of the class grade relies on a group project that lasts the entire semester. If that puts you off, don't take this class. But in all honesty, the group project was not terribly difficult at all. This a great class, you learn a lot, and Yordy is a chill professor. I would take another one of his classes if I could.
Great prof.
Yordy has been one of my favorite professors. His lectures are funny, interesting and taking notes in that class is made easy. He is very approachable and willing to help with any problems you have with the class. He also offers extra credit, so need not worry if you miss a quiz (which are easy points).
Amazing teacher. Put in the work and go to class and you should get at least a B. Class is interesting, mostly lectures but he makes them entertaining. If you need to take this class definitely try to get Yordy. Great guy.
Yordy makes business law as interesting as it can be. I mean, yeah, contract law is dry, but he tries his best to keep your interest and provide clarity on hard legal principles. Pay attention, do the book work, and it's not that bad.
Yordy's one of the best professors I've had. Even though business law is about as boring as it gets, he makes it as engaging and interesting as he can with his stories and humor. LOTS of hw, but it's not terribly hard. This is a difficult class, so come to class prepared to take notes and pay attention, otherwise you won't pass.
Definitely one of the best professors within the FCB. Extremely helpful and Yordy can easily clarify any issues pertaining to the class subject.
Starting this class was nerve wrecking since it was a 205 business class and I had only taken a 102 level business course. Yordy is a great professor though. He has experience with being a lawyer in the past and does well with explaining things. Tests are very difficult, but SI sessions definitely help. I would take another class with him.
One of the best professors at the FCB. Yordy is super helpful and lectures are always interesting. It's not easy, but if you show up to class and you do the homework you'll do great.
Best professor I've ever had by far!!! His class helped me decide that I want to go to law school, and that it is possible. I can't wait to take ACC 405 with him.
Yordy is one of the best professors I've had. Lectures are engaging and I never felt like I wanted to skip them. Not too much home work but there is a group project. The project isn't that bad as long as you start working right away, do the checkpoints as they come and it's easy!
There's a fairly large group project due at the end of the semester. The lectures can get a bit dry and the exams are fairly challenging. From what I've heard, the other ethics professor requires less work.
Comprehensive Review: Take Yordy for any class he is teaching, you're welcome.
AWESOME PROFESSOR!!
Amazing man. Makes a class subject I'd normally hate interesting and exciting. Always has a smile and wears bright colors. Also looks like a young Tim Allen. Homework takes a while but isn't too difficult.
Business law can be confusing (and boring), but Yordy is amazing as a teacher. He genuinely cares for his students and makes an effort to learn pretty much everyone's name. There is a lot of homework but if you pace it out it's not awful. The tests are easy if you pay attention and do the reading. I would 100% take any class he teaches again.
Maybe the best professor I've ever had. I enjoy his class, even though it's at 9:30 A.M. I highly recommend him as a professor. He also takes the Jack's line to class and if you catch him, he let's you pick his brain.
Tough class and he makes it tougher. He knows how to teach but never teach anything comes in the exams I always take note in his class but nothing comes in the exam from the notes. Do the mind tap and study from it. Honest opinion, worts prof ever I definitely wouldnt recommend him. STAY AWAY
One of the best teachers at NAU. Tests are based off the homework. Must make time for homework because it takes a lot of time.
I had Yordy my Freshman year for ACC 205 and while It was a difficult class, he always made it fun and interesting. This isn't a class you can just skim through. There is a good amount of homework, and the tests are challenging but SI's help for sure. Yordy is a really nice and funny guy and I would for sure take his class again.
This class involves a lot of vocabulary and requires an understanding of difficult topics, but Professor Yordy makes his lectures interesting and easy to follow. He is very funny and keeps students engaged. He also has plenty of personal stories to relate to topics covered in class, and it is easy to his passion for the subject.
He has great stories to go with his lectures. If you do your homework tests are easy to pass.
My favorite teacher at NAU! The homework is kind of heavy but that is for this course in general. all classes for ACC205 have same amount of homework. READ the mind tap homework. Makes a huge difference. Yordy is very into what he teaches which makes learning much more interesting. Do the work pay attention in class and you'll pass.
Best professor I've ever had. The class is very homework heavy but as long as you do it and try on it you'll do fine in the class. He's extremely helpful and always ready to answer questions. He provides up to 50 points of extra credit (which can help a grade out immensely). I highly recommend this class even if it isn't mandatory for your major.
Yordy is pretty great! He does a fine job of relating personal ancedotes to the material and injects a fair bit of humor to make it interesting. There is quit a bit of mindtap h.w. due every week, but it's really not that big of a deal. If you actually do the readings, attend class, and complete the H.W. (all the busy work), the tests are a breeze.
Usually assigned 2 chapters of homework per class and covered the material only after it was due. The reading related was really heavy but was always there, so if you depend on a professor to teach material directly before homework, choose someone else. Amazing lectures that actually helped me retain the topics.
Yordy is a fantastic professor who cares about his students. He was always willing to make time to meet with me and answer my questions. The class is textbook/reading heavy (1.5ish hours a night) and then there is hw as well. Attend SI's, show up to lectures, do the hw and you'll do fine.
Professor Yordy is an amazing and intriguing lecturer. He engages the auditorium and is really interesting. He works to build relationships with students. He creates the exams for all ACC205 classes so you know what was covered will be on the exam. Exams are hard and conceptual but we get one blank page for a cheat sheet which is so helpful!
Took Yordy for 205, took him again for 405. For anyone who wants to know more about business law, take ACC405. ACC205 is great, but you barely get to scratch the surface. Loved every second of the class. He may not take attendance, but he definitely will notice if you're gone, which might affect if he's willing to round your grade.
He is great!
There's 5 mini cases throughout the semester and 1 big case at the end. They're a lot of work and will make you think but as long as you put the effort in you'll be fine. I would recommend taking him over the others.
This course is heavy on the material. Be sure to attend all lecture (if possible). You will be spending a lot of time doing reading and studying. It is easy to fall behind in this class. He has a no late policy, so if you are a procrastinator DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Thought he was a really cool guy until he had us analyze trump in a paper leading us to write about trump being basically a "racist" literally while students had ballots in their homes for the 2020 election. I felt this was entirely unethical and hypocritical given his teachings.
If you do not pay attention to your zooms,DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He only allows two zooms to be missed before failing, if you do not do the multiple polls in class he will give u academic dishonesty. Only take this class if you are positive that you will attend and participate in all zoom calls. He does not take late work either. Just over the top
I had Yordy for Accounting Ethics and he made the class bearable with his lectures and real-life examples. The textbook is intense to read, but if you ask questions in class the information can be understood. There were 3 mini-case write-ups when I took the class: these write ups are worth a lot of points so read through the criteria.
He was fine. Not the nicest professor ever, but he covered the material. VERY heavily weighted towards exams, and very little test review given, but if you pay attention in class and take good notes youll be fine.
He's a very kind and accommodating teacher. When I and others needed to miss class more than his attendance policy he adjusted to help students. His lectures are super interesting and informative. Overall I really liked his teaching style and him so I would take it again. There is a lot of information and homework to stay on top of so notes are key
Professor Yordy is an amazing person and knows what he is talking about but if you do not read the text it will be very tough to pass.
Eric Yordy is an amazing professor! He has nicely laid out lectures. Reading the text book is mandatory in order to get good grades on the test! Attending class and doing well on your homework helps your grade if you do not do well on the tests. Also, there is tons of extra credit you can do!
Yordy was a great prof. His lectures were enjoyable and always used real world events from his life to connect things that we were learning. He is always offering extra credit and the grading criteria is clear. Tests are at home and homework is online. Attendance is mandatory but its easy points if you do go. He knows what he is talking about.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He makes class really enjoyable and easy to understand the content. He takes time to learn our names and go out if his way to make personal connections. Definitely recommended
I loved Yordy. Im a business minor and this class seemed super intimidating but he made this heavy topic very entertaining. Definitely take him if you can!!
This class he teaches is kinda hard but he makes the lectures fun. The work for the course is all online including the tests and final. Theres a lot of worksheets online but theyre almost all on quizlet. Hes very engaging and fun, I really liked him.
Professor Yordy is great and very chill. He makes an effort to learn everybody's names and cares about his students. However, his in-class lectures do move a little fast and it was challenging for me at times to understand what was being taught. Tests can be tricky but SI sessions are so helpful for this course and you get extra credit if you go.
Super nice professor but the stuff he talks about in class is very little translated to the tests. The tests are the optional stuff you can read online, but attendance and the homework are the biggest parts of the grade.
Very good professor--funny, relatable, and offered great extra credit. My problem mainly came with the exams. Most of them feel completely unrelated to the homework and lectures. You have to dig through the book, and some of the questions feel very obscure. He also tends to go on long tangents. Aside from that, he was very kind and understanding.
Absolutely by far favorite professor that I have ever had. Attendance adds up so I recommend going to every class. The hardest thing for me were the test but he gives great lectures and the class was very interesting to anyone looking to get into business.
Yordy is amazing! I'm not studying business, but this class covers business and law equally. The lectures are easy to follow and are usually pretty interesting. There are a ton of homework assignments, but they're very easy and are actually incredibly useful for understanding the content. Overall I highly recommend this professor and this course!
Very interesting lecturer who makes the class very fun to go to. There is homework but it is all online and open from the start so you can get ahead if desired.
Yordy was great and made a class that is kinda boring really interesting. He gives good examples of the concepts in class that help make connections for the tests.
I found Professor Yordy mostly covered the exact same material that was in the textbook, rarely branching out into any other material, which made the lectures incredibly pointless to me. He offers a lot of extra credit, though!
This class is much more law-oriented than accounting so if you're worried about math, don't be! The class materials are all online and the work is easy. I did not read all of the chapters and still did fine on all of the assignments. His lectures are very long and I usually sat in the back of the class spacing out but he is a nice guy!
Its hard because accounting ethics is not exactly an exciting topic. The professor is very nice though and genuinely wants to get to know each student. There are few assignments, but they all serve a purpose.
He is a great professor all around. The class can get repetitive but the things discussed during the lectures can be interesting.
Hea a great guy with a very endearing personality. He claims that most of the homework will be due Sundays, but about 70% of it is actually due during the week with no opportunity for make-up work -- a complete turnaround from the other professor teaching this class, Kenneth Mitchell. On the other hand, he does offer up to 100 extra credit points
As you can see based off this page, Prof. Yordy is a very respected and effective professor. He's extremely involved in the FCB and does an amazing job connecting with students and teaching every one of his courses thoroughly. Exams are detailed and hard, but he does his job and does it well. 5/5.
Yordy is the 2nd best professor I've had in my two years here (Sheri Mylenek #1). If you pay attention during class the homework and tests aren't too hard.
Professor Yordy was by far my favorite. He had amazing lectures that were so fun to attend. He also takes the time to learn everyones names. His homework is 2-3 times a week and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes per assignment. His tests are difficult but if you study it's not too hard. If you do the extra credit it will be an easy A if you work.
Professor Yordy is one of the strongest professors I've had so far! He is engaging and leads class discussions well. I did not love the readings, but Yordy made up for that with his character. The case studies take a lot of time and preparation, but overall were not that difficult once you had the information needed.
Overall a good professor and relatively easy class, however if you are someone that has a very busy schedule that sometimes requires you to miss class don't expect him to be understanding what so ever. There is a lot of extra credit but again its hard to do if your schedule is very full.
Yordy is very funny and caring. Prepare to actually read the textbook cause almost 90% of class time is spent discussing the readings. No exams, just some case analysis essays but overall very easy class.
Professor Yordy has really good lectures that keep you engaged with the coursework but the quizzes and exams weigh heavily on your grade. Even thought the exams are online, they are very textbook heavy and almost never relate to his lectures. If you want to do good in the class focus on the textbook and not too much on the lectures.
This class was one of the most boring lectures. He enforces a no phone/laptop distractions to make him feel like people are listening. No one is. This guy just loves to yap and is agonizing having to sit through an hour of this guy. The hw and exams were easy to gather info on (hint hint wink wink). Its an easy enough credit but god is it boring
Professor Yordy was one of the best professors I have had. He made his lectures very engaging and I always enjoyed his personal stories. My biggest advice for anyone taking his ACC205 class is be ready to do a lot of homework at the start. Even though business law is a tough class, Professor Yordy made it much more enjoyable!
He talks too much
Professor Yordy is an incredible professor to take! He truly cares about his students (especially ones that show an effort to learn and participate in class). The class itself COULD be seen as more on the difficult side, but if you do everything you should be doing, his lectures and engagement will make it worth your while, 100%. :)
Kind of a hard class, but he does give extra credit and tests are online. Yordy is pretty funny and makes the lectures interesting. The textbook is really helpful and so is the homework. Workload is not very heavy.
Really good professor and I enjoyed having him. He's strict without being overly cruel but that way, you can have clear structure and there are no surprises. He is pretty strict with IPhone usage which is, in my opinion, very respectable. If you want to succeed, in class it really isn't that hard. Read the chapters and study lecture slides.
Yordy is a super solid professor who is knowledgeable about and passionate about what he teaches. A lot of reading is necessary for this class, but it is very helpful to comprehend the concepts. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to take Professor Yordy he is accessible, kind, and a genuinely good teacher.
Very interesting lectures, attendance matters, 10/10 recommend.
I liked Professor Yordy as a person, I just don't think his class was for me. I found it incredibly boring and the only time I wasn't bored is when we would get sidetracked. No disrespect to Yordy in the slightest, this class was just of no interest to me. There are a few group projects so make friends in the class if possible.
Yordy is great. Really fun and knowledgeable. My only issue with the class was the structure. HW is worth nearly 50% of your grade. With it being weighted so much, I would've liked the assignments to show up in Canvas. Yordy does mention whats due it's just a little hard to stay organized bouncing from platform to platform. Other than that 10/10.
If you're deciding between taking ACC205 with Yordy or Mitchell, take it with Yordy. He keeps lectures engaging and entertaining. The content isn't "hard" per se, you just actually have to study. However, Yordy does give off the vibe of a high school history teacher who's also the basketball coach, so draw what assumptions you will from that.
I loved professor Yordy, I am a construction mgmt major and he still kept things very interesting for me when I usually get bored in these classes. Better than any of the other business classes I have taken at NAU. Actually got to know and interact with students as well which I appreciated a lot. As long as you study for exams you will do fine.
Yordy is very outgoing and loves to connect with his students. Attendance is mandatory for your grade but you have the option to take "PTO" days. He gives lots of opportunity for extra credit, but you MUST read the textbook if you want to pass the class. The exams are pretty challenging if you don't.
Dr. Yordy is the best professor in the FCB. He cares for his students unconditionally and is very personable and funny. Having him in both ACC-205 and ACC-340, he is fair grader and the hw is relevant to lectures. Very accessible outside of class and is always willing to go above and beyond if you make the effort to get to know him.
Although attendance is not mandatory, missing classes can set you so far behind in any assignments or tests. You have three days that can count as "sick days" where you can still earn credit for the day you missed. Professor Yordy is strict on technology use. If it is not class-related, put it away. As long as you do the work, you should be fine.
Professor Yordy is an awesome guy. All you have to do for this class is show up and you will basically pass. There are three projects two of which are partner projects but they are not too difficult and if you put a little effort into them you will get a passing grade. The vast majority of the points are from in class assignments so show up.
Attendance and tests are a huge part of your grade. I have mixed feelings about Yordy, he was a good professor however I found him unkind and more concerned about calling people out than just giving a consistent lecture. Good class, learned a decent amount, but unlikely I would recommend him to anyone else.
