Great teacher. Relates really well to students; understands our point of view and teaches in a way that is easy to follow and understand. Has a lot of funny and great stories relating microeconomics and real life. Looks and acts like Tony Stark (Iron Man).
relates to students and makes a boring subject interesting
This was the only class I actually looked forward to going to. Young is so funny! He tries to make micro-econ relatable to us. Lots of mini quizzes/2 midterms & a final. It's not the easiest class but you'll have fun learning. Great teacher!! The best I've had in a long time. He really likes Del Taco nachos and he does kinda look like Iron Man :)
Pretty funny guy and a pretty good teacher. He's good at relating to students, and cusses in class which is awesome. Class is easy as long as you take good notes, do well on the few quizzes he gives. Quizzes, two midterms, and a final. Final is worth double midterm so do well.
mr. young is an awesome teacher he does an excellent job relating the material, makes it easier to understand. he really knows his stuff, and is really funny. it also helps that hes really good looking, so that makes class even more enjoyable! overall great class, just take notes and show up.
Young is the best teacher I've had so far at LMU. Theres no hw in the class and his lectures are interesting. He provides a lot of real life examples and advice which I thought was cool and taking his class made me want to change my major to something in econ. Tests are very straightforward, I dont think I studied at all for most of them.
He is a great professor and really has a true passion for teaching. His tests are somewhat difficult but he's a good teacher. You read the textbook if you want to but it's not required. Your entire grade is 2 midterms, a final, and 5 quizzes. Overall, he is an awesome teacher who can really engage the class with real life examples and funny jokes.
Best professor for ECON 110. His tests aren't the easiest, but aren't hard either. Presents material very well because he is a very entertaining guy. Quizzes aren't bad, but the tests make up most of the grade so make sure you do well on them.
Great Teacher! His lectures are easy to understand and he is very helpful during office hours. Tests aren't easy, but as long as you listen in class you will get at least a C on any test.
Pretty much the best teacher I've had at LMU so far. There is no other Microeconomics teacher that is even worth it. Young is a no BS professor. He constantly relates economic principles to his own life, making the class very entertaining. He constantly wants students to ask as many questions as possible, no matter how much time it takes. Our class had 3 tests and a final. He never got to assigning any quizzes. Around 6-7 homework assignments: takes time, but he always extends deadlines.
Best professor by far! Hilarious and lectures are always fun. Ties boring Econ concepts to life. Take him take him take him! Won't regret it!
Prof Young is by far the best professor I've had at LMU. He makes a boring subject relatable to college students and will go above and beyond to help you. Even though I did not get an A, I learned more from his class than any of my other classes. Definitely take him, you won't regret it!
Keeps class interesting. Definitely take him
This guy is probably one of the best teacher's I've ever had in my life. He keeps the class entertained and uses real life examples to teach with an open minded perspective.
Best professor ever. Class is always interesting. If you have trouble with the subject he'll help you out no matter what. He wants you to understand it. TAKE HIM!
so funny, but tests are so difficult
Best Prof. i've had at LMU so far in my 2 years here. Extremely funny every single day and really drills concepts into you with real life experiences, plus his own funny life storieslife advice. Tests are hard though regardless. Gives around 6-7 homework assignments throughout semester which are 2 points each and grade is based on midtermfinal
Simply the best teacher I've ever had. Funniest teacher I've ever had. Teaches material in a way that relates to outside world which makes it make more sense. Loves teaching. Impossible to get lower than a B. Grades homework off effort not correctness. Tells you some questions he will put on test. I wish he was my friend. Great guy would take again
Professor Young is such a dynamic character! I had a three hour class on Mondays with him and it was one of my favorite classes. But you can't slack in his class. He admires people who put effort into getting a good grade. Was always available for office hours. He tells the most hilarious stories!
Amazing teacher! I had him for 3 hours and he always made it feel like an hour and a half (which is still long some days). You have to pay attention though, like the whole time. His tests are hard, and he gets joy from kids squirming and not knowing anything! lol but seriously. His classes are funny and he always has hilarious stories. TAKE HIM! :)
Great professor. Made me want to go to class because of his humor and real life examples. Tests are tough, but class is definitely worth taking. He doesn't waste your time and let you go out early if he is done with the material you have to cover for the day. Not too much homework. Always available for office hours and very helpful on one-on-one.
Professor Young is 100% lecture based in his teaching style which makes it easy to show up to class and not pay attention when not in the mood. Nothing on the tests won't be from class. Very willing to help and answer questions. Makes class laugh. Highly recommend.
Educational lectures. Super funny and relaxed. Accessible, no matter what. Great explainer. Doesn't really check the homework (as long as you turn it in). Hard exams. Tough quizzes. Stickler for attendance.
Professor Young is a solid professor. He is assertive and to the point. His stories are hilarious but sometimes he veers off topic. Very little homework, three exams, and about six quizzes. He is very approachable and means well. As long as you take notes and study, you will succeed.
His lectures are amazing. He makes a boring subject extremely interesting and accessible. His teaching style really makes everything clear. If you go to class, take notes, read the textbook, and review before quizzes and tests you will do well in the class. If you've never taken Economics before, this is the perfect class to introduce you to it.
Eric was the best professor I got last semester and he really knows his stuff when it comes to econ. He just uses the whiteboard actually makes the class easier as he draws lots of graphs that help illustrate the content. He is also hilarious and makes each lecture engaging. So long as you take notes and show up this class is a easy B
Great lecturer and makes you geniunely interested in the class. That being said, he doesnt have a brightspace and is extremely unorganized with his lectures because of random tangents he goes off on. It is hard to study for the midterms because all you have to study is the notes you take in class, so you always have to go
Not that funny. Reminds me of a middle school teacher who thinks he's funny because he cusses and has potty humor. Class is pretty tough make sure you grasp every concept. Do the homework. I don't recommend
I wish this course had more structure to it. Eric swears a lot and seems all over the place. His class is not difficult, but I feel very lost at times. I would not recommend for a student new to Economics.
Great professor, hilarious, but only lectures. They are interesting but too much information. Hard to study for quizzes and tests because there is so much info to memorize. If you haven't taken econ before would not recommend, but if you want to be challenged then take this class! Graded only on quizzes, 3 tests + 1 cumulative final, 1 paper.
Professor Young is by far the best teacher I have ever had. This man as to be one of the funniest people I have ever met and this class is a must if you attend LMU. If someone gave a bad review its because they cant take. He also gives life advice and teaches you things you need far more than just a classroom. I genuinely loved going to class!
Professor Young is the reason I added an Econ major. His classes are all lectures, but he's hilarious and his passion as well as real world connections make the subject matter interesting. Easy to get at least a B if you pay attention in class, don't have to study that much. Don't take him if you're easily offended.
Absolutely one of the best teachers I have ever had. I don't care what other reviews say, this man is so passionate, helpful, and inspirational. This class extends beyond econ, and he goes above and beyond to help you with your future success. If you are passionate about becoming successful, he basically goes over every lecture to help with that!!!
Eric Young is a fantastic teacher. He makes learning interesting and engaging. There was a lot of work, but it was helpful and allowed a better understanding of the curriculum. I recommend taking him for econ as he is funny and caring.
Young is a really funny and caring professor. Even though he would often go over class time, I found his lectures to be very interesting and helpful. There are two midterms, a final, and other group project. As long as you keep up with the videos and reading, you'll do fine.
Prof. Young not only was a great professor, but he is also hilarious. He made everything he taught understandable and relatable. I 10/10 recommend taking him for Intro to Econ.
Mr. Young is the best Econ teacher I've ever had, has a huge knowledge base, cares about you're success, accessible outside of class, interested in his students, amazing lectures, gets fired up about stuff.
I could not have asked for a better economics instructor. Professor Young is super intelligent, easy to listen to, has a knack for teaching a tough subject, is passionate about his job, and is just an overall likable dude. It amazes me how he is able to answer absolutely any question about economics with ease. I felt like I learned a lot.
Young is one of my favorite professors at LMU thus far. His lectures were always engaging and his homework/tests/quizzes weren't too difficult if you kept up in class. I recommend you take this course.
Mr. Young is very funny, slightly problematic but in a humorous way. His lecturing style is very effective for learning the concepts, but they can be hard to apply to his quiz and test questions. Very manageable amount of homework and you only have to get the textbook if you think you will use it. Over all, I really enjoyed this class.
Young is a great professor for those taking econ for the first time. He clearly explains every concept and backs up all his ideas with real-world examples. He is pretty opinionated but in a respectful way. Also is pretty funny. Econ in general isn't an easy subject, but with Young as your professor, you'll have the best shot at getting an A.
Professor Young is SUCH a great teacher. Econ can be a difficult subject to understand but he really breaks it down into digestible information. I definitely learned a lot in his class. He is also just a super friendly, funny and nice guy. He stayed after class multiple times to answer any questions and always did his best to help us understand.
HE IS A TALKER! Most of class is him presenting at day's topic but class is important to listen too, most of his quiz/test questions come form in class lessons. 2 book reports, weekly homework quiz and 3 test and a final.
Best teacher I have ever had. Made me think deeply abt econ and also so many other topics. He is the type of teacher i came to lmu for as he actually makes u a critical and deep thinker. TAKE HIM. He gives u everything you need to be successful in the class and in life as u learn so much about different things. i actually liked all his lectures.
Really cool professor!! He really cares about what he is teaching, but there is a lot of content crammed into a short semester, so just stay up to date on work & you will do well on the midterms.
Best LMU professor I've ever had. He's definitely passionate about the subject & explains the concepts in a way that's understandable to anyone new to economics. He incorporates a lot of modern events & personal stories into his lectures to ground the concepts in reality. No homework but weekly quizzes, a few tests, 2 book reports and a final.
As long as you put effort in to this class you will be fine. He is a great teacher and very funny. Just be sure to pay attention and show up to class
Eric Young is a great teacher and a great man. He really cares about what he teaches, which makes it that much better to learn from. There is a lot of work but it's manageable, and the exams aren't too bad. Participating in class and doing the extra credit will help your grade big time. Eric is one of the best professors I've had!
Funny and Caring Guy. This class does challenge you, but if you put the work in, you can do very well in this class. Not difficult by any means but also not a breeze. 2 essays, discussion posts, and no homework. 3 Midterms and Final Test make up most of the grade. He drops the lowest midterm. 10/10 love this guy. Accessible outside class. take him.
Great Lecturer and Storyteller. He makes concepts easy to understand and keeps you engaged the whole class. The tests are multiple choice and are super easy if u go to every lecture.
Great professor, would 100% recommend taking him. His lectures aren't always strictly about economics, but he provides a lot of great study materials on Brightspace. When you take his class, check the syllabus so you don't forget the due dates of things, as he doesn't remind you in class. Drops the lowest midterm and offers one easy extra credit.
Young is absolutely goated. He gives some of the best lectures known to mankind. Provides great examples and stories. That being said, he sometimes makes conceptually "easy" topics a lot harder to understand. But regardless, he cares and makes you really think about your own morals and views. I pray to God he doesn't get fired!
Took him for personal finance, which is a really interesting class. He's a funny guy, a little unhinged at times. Don't skip a ton of classes it will annoy him. Do well on your homework, and don't slack on the midterm. There was a huge extra credit assignment available to us which boosted my grade a ton. Be a good student and he'll appreciate you.
Easily the best professor I've had at LMU. Really cares about the material and puts in the effort everyday to make sure students understand the core elements of econ. Lectures were enjoyable and never felt boring. Prof. Young is shamelessly wacky and hilarious and wants his students to succeed. Put in the work and you will have a great experience.
I have never learned so much in a class. BY FAR the best teacher if you want to leave class better than you went it. He is hilarious and isn't afraid to be honest. The class is hard, and takes attendance, but it is worth showing up to his lectures. Take his class you won't regret it. By far the most I've learned in any class (including HS, etc.)
Great professor. He explains things very well and gives you a great understanding of Economics. The midterms are pretty hard, but you will pass if you pay attention and study a lot. He says some questionable things and has strong opinions but is really funny
My favorite professor so far at LMU. His lectures are very interesting and make you think outside your comfort box. His classes are all lectures and you take notes along with him. There were 2 book reviews we did for homework over the semester and that was the only homework. Classes were mandatory tho so don't take this class if your gonna skip.
While this class is difficult, Prof Young doesn't want you to fail. There is no homework, and really the only way you get your grade is by reading 2 books that he gives you questions about as you read, quizzes, 3 midterms, and a final. He will drop your lowest midterm grade, and all the quizzes are take home with 3 attempts.
This is the best professor I have ever had. He cares about teaching and his lectures are entertaining. He is really funny and makes a connection with the class. 100% recommend!
The lectures were engaging; and you can tell Young is very knowledgeable. The (3)midterms are hard, all multiple choice, but he drops the lowest one.2 book reviews are fairly easy.Quizzes are taken home with 3 attempts. Big extra credit opportunity.I learned a lot in this economics class.I would recommend taking Young as your professor!
Prof. Young is a great professor if you actually care about economics or finance. He's super knowledgable about economics and will make an hour long lecture more bearable through his funny ass stories. Graded by a few things and tests are a good amount of material. If you pay attention during lectures you should be good. Take him
Good at explaining things. Go to class and you will succeed.
Amazing lectures and guy overall. Would really recommend for anyone and would love to have him later on in other classes.
The best professor I have ever had.
Eric Young is known to be one of the best teachers at LMU and I can honestly say that he is. He goes off on funny tangents about the world and he makes a boring subject interesting. Overall, he's a good teacher but he yells a lot.
No bs guy, funny and genuinely cares about his students, he teaches economics with the insights of an MBA and also addresses the implications of economics that apply in the real world. 2 book reports, 3 midterms 50 questions each and a cumulative final.
Seems really intimidating but he genuinely cares for his students and jokes a lot. Class is lecture heavy but he makes it fun with interesting conversations/examples and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions in class. If youre new to econ, the content will be complex, but he breaks it down easily and extra credit is provided.
Prof. Young is the GOAT. His lectures are extremely entertaining, and he makes great examples to help understand concepts. I didn't take ECON in hs, but he made the content easy to understand for everyone. Super funny guy in lectures. Graded on online 3 mc midterms, 2 book reviews about ECON in the real world, 12 mc quizzes, and an online mc final.
Keeps it real and genuinely cares about his students. Breaks down the concepts so well and is very knowledgeable in his field. My class and I always had a good laugh with him - goes off on funny tangents, but gets work done. Highly recommend!
Funniest, most entertaining professor I've ever had. He not only gives a good understanding of Econ, but also gives lessons on how the world works and teaches things that you'll actually use in the real world. This class isn't the easiest, but it's not supposed to be, take this class if you want to get quality education your tuition pays for.
This is my favorite professor at LMU, and one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. If you have any opportunity EVER to take a course from him, find a way to do it. 1050 and 3660 have easily been my most memorable and most applicable courses at LMU so far. Take his courses.
Funny guy, class is really hard tho. Lots of work to be done outside of class that he does not mention besides on the first day. Also, there is online lectures and a textbook to read, ur grade is basically your midterms/final so study hard. Very easy to fall behind if u don't keep up, reading is heavy so don't expect to actually get it all done.
Professor Young has been my favorite prof this semester. Acts tough but is actually super caring and a great guy. Will always find time to help you keep up with work and office hours are super helpful. Also super funny and makes classes relate to real world. Unlimited resources between him and his online videos and lectures.
One of the most interesting professors I've ever had. Class is always engaging and he cares about his students. The only people who don't like him are soft
Just lock in on the book reports but if you miss them you are cooked.
Take Eric Young for econ. He genuinely gives you the value you are paying for at LMU, and is also hillarious. 3 midterms online, quizzes (3 attempts) and 2 book reviews make your grade. Super simple. Take him if you want to learn the most and not do unnecessary busy work. Every assignment is helpful. Extra credit opp too. Take him!
You are graded by such few things. Tests are very hard. He does not give feedback for papers. All of it is lectures which get very long and boring. Its not a presentation, he writes the notes onto a projector and his handwriting is unclear and sometimes you can't understand what he's saying. He also thinks he knows everything.
3 midterms that are all multiple choice and online + 2 book reports on books that are pretty dense that you have to read while also studying for midterms. hes def passionate about econ and knows a lot but his notes dont really help you study because of how brief they are. challenging class to get an A in imo but just do extra credit & study hella
Absolutely hilarious. He is less of a professor and more of a coach. He seems very tough and scary, but is actually very nice. His class is pretty tough and he keep track of attendance. If you show up, take notes, and pay attention he'll like you.
Professor Young is great. He really does care about his students and is passionate about what he teaches. The class curriculum for me was very hard to grasp, but that is not his fault; he taught it well. Overall, I do recommend taking this class as long as you can keep up with lectures and study, and understand each unit.
Professor Young is a great teacher; he is witty, funny, and has a rough-and-tough stand on business attitude. However, if you don't test easily, like myself, stay as far away as possible. 82 percent of your grade is tests, I found myself killing myself every day just to earn a 60 or 70 on a test, that's the part that really gets you down.
Young is an interesting guy, he is very passionate and goes on crazy rants. Make sure to do the book reports and extra credit. The midterms are now on paper and are pretty difficult. We have three midterms and one is a couple days before the final. The final is 40% of the grade so you need to study a lot.
I think Eric has a lot of wisdom he likes to share and he does care about his students. However, his lectures can feel a bit useless bc they focus on IRL applications of econ and not about whats gonna be on the tests. Anyway I didn't pass but this is just a warning that ur grade is majority made up of the tests so if u aren't good at tests beware.
You have to take Econ with GOAT Young! His lectures are so easy to follow and he is genuinely an amazing teacher. Although his examples can be conservative leaning or "un-woke" I can still understand where he's coming from even if I don't agree with him. Grade based on 3 midterms, 2 book reports, and a final (worth 40% of ur grade) so STUDY HARD!
Eric Young was hands down my favorite professor I had this year. His lectures were always so entertaining as he would use funny metaphors and add lively story telling to keep the class engaged. The course itself is very hard, but he gives out an amazing extra credit opportunity at the end of the year that boosts your grade by 4%. Take his class!
He doesn't ever post due dates or deadlines on brightspace and he rarely ever reminds students about upcoming deadlines. He also accepts no late work, no exceptions. He's definitely funny, as advertised, but a lot of the time he goes too far and ends up being creepy or just offensive. Medium workload and easy to succeed, but a weird/creepy dude.
Eric Young is the worst professor I've had and the hardest class I've taken. He is rude; his examples are offensive and make people uncomfortable. I went to office hours for help, and he yelled at me. After all the extra work, I still did poorly on his very difficult midterms and final. Don't take this class unless you want your life to be econ.
Class was pure suffering but I personally learned alot. All HW due before each midterm which made me procrastinate. Best way to get an A is READ THE TEXTBOOK, do ALL THE PRACTICE Qs and EXTRA CREDIT which boosts grade by 4%. 42% of grade is midterms and 40% is final so find a study group. Prof young is smart/funny but doesn't respond to email.
Eric Young is a funny professor and gives really good lectures. Midterms are worth 42% of your grade and finals are 40% so it is a test heavy class. However, he will not remind you about deadlines, or put them into brightspace specifically for book reviews so make sure you are on top of deadlines. There is also a 4% extra credit which was easy.
