Erica is very organized and thorough. I learned a lot in her class.
Professor teaches at a very fast pace. I would recommend taking another math course before hers, because she expects students to have some basic knowledge. She is very enthusiastic about the material and tends to talk very fast, so her lectures may be confusing at times. Overall she is a helpful instructor.
Easy class, very easy tests. Going to lecture isn't mandatory and she posts all the lectures on UBLearns beforehand. Recitation is required, but you can get the homework online and turn it in at the beginning of class and leave early. Her lectures are pretty confusing and long winded, I found it's easier just to get help from the TA in lab.
Online classes can be tricky but she is so helpful and answers all emails with helpful things. I feel like she really wants you to succeed with how much detail she gives in lectures. I just looked up if she is teaching other classes in the fall and was sad that she isn't. I would def recommend this class with her!
Interesting professor, lectures were fun. She does a great job making the material come to life. Opportunity for extra credit and she is not here to trick but to help you learn the material. Loved the class so much, I enrolled in Mood Disorders with her.
This class is an easy A. Participating during discussion is like practice for the short answers on her exam. If she offers an extra credit final take it even if you barely studied for it. There's also two writing assignments based on a book you have to buy. (There is no textbook just this biography). She offers extra credit assignments as well.
Not my cup of tea. Teacher expects us to all participate and engage in discussions in classes of 300, that works in classes of 30 maybe 40 students not 300. Could barely stay awake during lecture, tried to be funny but just makes lecture more unbearable. Class and information is very interesting, just not the presentation and teacher.
She's amazing. I love her teaching style and her sense of humor. Even though it was a 1.5 hour long class in a big lecture hall, she encouraged discussion. The only downside is that if she knows you, she knows if you're missing from class. BUt it's a fun class, so you want want to skip every class!
The good she knows A LOT about the material and knows how to give understanding examples to make it easy to catch on Now the bad TOO MANY EXAMPLES! REPEATS AND REPEATS AND REPEATS AGAIN! TAKES TOO LONG ON ONE SLIDE! NEVER FINISHES A LECTURE ON TIME! TALKS TOO FASTQUIET! EVEN AFTER BEING TOLD TO SLOW DOWN
Good professor, explains things well. There are 4 exams, 1 optional final, HW on mypsychlab ( 20% of your grade). I don't like that sometimes she OVER EXPLAINS material and would TALK A LOT... which makes class very boring. The prof that substituted for Erica (since she was preg) for the first 12 semester was better at teaching & made things fun
She is really awesome, best professor I've had. I would take this class over and over if I could. She gives tons of extra credit and the final is optional. Her kids are cute too!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Not super easy, but VERY willing to help students who ask. Lectures are very interesting and discussion based. The 4 tests and optional cumulative final are based on ONLY class material, a lot of which isn't on the slides. Online quizzes are from the text. Come to class and ask questions and you'll do well. Lots of extra credit
The class was really nice and she gives a ton of extra credit. The online quizzes are based on the chapter readings so I'd recommend reading them. 4 exams and 1 cumulative that's optional to take.
Erica is one of the best professors I've ever had. Her classes are discussion-based and are very interesting. The exams are not easy but are not overly hard; the questions are fair and make sense if you know the material. Erica is very enthusiastic and is a great person to learn from. She gives a fair amount of extra credit. Awesome class.
She's so passionate about abnormal psych and she's a good lecturer. She gives real life examples and ties in humor and such during lectures. She uploads videos if you decide to skip lecture but most of the time its better to just show up and listen to her bc what u discuss in class are on exams. she gives extra credit on days when she cant b there
If you show up to lectures, take notes and study those notes well, you'll be fine. The textbook is used for homework assignments but none of the information is on the tests. Erica is passionate, funny and informed and it's fairly easy to get an A.
She's great! Gives plenty of anecdotes and examples to help you remember. Even if you skip lectures, she'll upload those she did for her online courses, which is enough to get you an A. Offers extra credits, too! Textbook not required; she provides most of the content in lecture slides.
phenomenal prof. so funny and makes lectures fun to attend. 5 exams and she drops the lowest one (work hard early in the semester so you can skip the cumulative final!!!). Study hard for the exams and know your stuff and you will be fine. Tests only cover class material not textbook. Only need the textbook to do the online homework questions.
Great professor, took her online, I liked that she had recorded lectures on blackboard because they were very useful. Hard not to get an A or A-, because she gives a lot of oppurtunities. Not only exams but also research papers, daily attendance assignments including quizzes, textbook assignments.
Great professor. Interesting class. Material is easy enough and she's always willing to help- whether it be meeting, emailing, or extra credit.
Erica is amazing, i had her over the summer and psych isnt even my major but i was so tempted to take another class with her. She really cares about you, i absolutely love her daughter, she's reminds me of my mom so much! Her work is heavy but its college.
Attendance is recorded for this class and for my PSY 198 class there was no textbook use, and no exams. Do the weekly assignments, along with other assignments and it's a straight forward A. Very caring professor.
Awesome, caring professor. She really does want to see progress in her students. She's great because she's super conscientious of varying interests, and is open to alternate interpretations of her assignment outcomes.
Took her online intro class in the winter as a pre-req for biopsychology. So much extra credit it's pretty impossible to not get an A. You'll need to dedicate 2-3 hours each day to keep up with lectures and classwork.
Beyond amazing. When i think abnormal psych i think a hard class, but honestly she made it super easy to do well. I dont have the highest grades but was able to pull an A with ease in this class. She makes everything interesting and puts the lectures online so if youre sick or if you likek to go back and listen theyre right there for you.
I really like how technologically advanced and fun Professor Goddard's class is. I enjoy using MindTap, it has online flash cards and memory games, and the textbook is built in online. Her lectures are also recorded and audio is too Show up to class for extra credit points. Her TA's are extremely helpful in review for what is on the exam. Love it.
I think people either love her or hate her. I love her. A true educator and amazing psychologist. Small 60-70-person PSY101 class therefore she would answer every question students have. Explains things very loudly and clearly. Would definitely take her psych class again.
She's a good teacher and the material wasn't hard. She'll call you out if you're talking or distracting others which can get annoying after awhile in a class full of freshman
Great professor, very funny and engaging in lectures. Grade is based half on lectures, and half on online quizzes from book material. So much extra credit and opportunities are available that it's nearly impossible to do poorly if you're trying. Slides/recordings are all online, but if you do go to class I recommend a laptop, she moves fast.
This class was great. She's a great professor and cares about her students. Very easy to reach through email. She uploads classroom recordings quickly and has lectures already recorded since she teaches it online too. The class is graded half on exams and half activities. Do well on the 4 non cumulative exams and you don't have to take the final
Erica is one of the sweetest professors you can have. Shes super nice and makes the class really easy to get an A becuase she has a lot of extra credit and makes it really easy to fulfill the requirements of an A. She makes the total homework grade out of 1000 but theres around 1500 points available. This makes it really easy to get an A.
Erica Goddard is willing to work with students- specifically with grades. I was close to failing once midterms came around, and after meeting with her 1-2 times, I was able to finish the semester with an A. It is very easy to get an A in this class- so long as you try. 100% recommend this professor.
The best professor I've had at UB yet, she was funny, caring, and a good professor. The class was pretty easy for the most part, but it was still engaging, and the homework, tests, and lectures all fit together very well.
Erica was amazing! She was so fun to listen to, she made the class very interesting! If you missed class, she had lectures recorded and posted online so that was super helpful. Would definitely take her again!
I love Erica because she really cares for you! I took her PSY322 and her PSY207 this semester and it took some effort. The review is on PSY 207 and it is usually the hardest class for Psych majors (I'm not). If you struggle, ASK IN THE BEGINNING because it's going to help you in the end. The content is just going to get more complex as you move on.
Erica Goddard's PSY 198 is what ought to be a 3 credit course crammed into 1 credit. Do not be lulled into a false sense of security during the first 2 weeks. Switch it out for an easier 198 class. If you are the studious, masochistic sort, she is a very through lecturer and grader. Lots of feedback and opportunities for extra credit.
This was an honors seminar for freshman based on empathy. Easy to get an A if you did the work. Spent maybe an hour and a half on homework a week. If you rack up enough points in the class you don't have to do all of the assignments. Very clear on what's asked of you and is very accessible via email. She cares about her students and is pretty funny
Great class. She is very knowledgable about the subject and her lectures are nice. Everything is recorded and put online. She sets up the course that it is almost impossible to fail, or not get an A for that matter. Tests are only on what we cover in class so pay attention and you'll do fine. Seems like a super cool lady.
Erica Goddard is the human representation of a superhero landing. BAM! She's here to teach you like you've never been taught before, and you wont even realize you're learning everything because her lectures are like nothing you've ever experienced. Not only that but she is one of the most supportive human beings on the planet. Take her class.
Erica is a great lecturer and really cares her students! Tests are based on the lecture only, so come to class because her class is not like other classes you can imagine. 4 EXAMS AND 1 CUMULATIVE FINAL which is optional. HER CHILDREN ARE SO ADORABLE!!!!!!
Okay here's the thing about Erica, I understand why so many people like her-- she makes it easy to get an A, attendance isn't mandatory, offers extra credit, and is fair. That being said I'd take another class with her to get an A. However, she encourages discussion so much that it draws focus away from the material and honestly it gets annoying
I took a 1 credit honors seminar with her and it was the worst class I took this year. Gave more homework than my 3 credit seminar gave. Had us read articles and have group discussions, I learned nothing. Pointless class I wish I didn't take it.
She is such an amazing professor, she respected the students, TA. She wants everyone in the class to respect each other, as that doesn't pack early, and leaving while people are wrapping up their words. Also, there is so many extra credit chance. Even you bump up your exams you can still get a good grade but working on other parts.
Dr. Goddard really wants you to do well in her class, you just need to put in the work. She gives lots of extra credit. So if you mess up on one exam- you will have other work that will boost up your grade. Optional final. Her exams are lecture-based so go off of that. Just do the work and you'll do well. Would highly recommend her to anyone!
Shes a great lecturer, and very effective at teaching. However she teaches at about a tenth grade level which may be a result of the limited course material. She really doesn't cover any deeper than you would in a PSY 101 class. Also, she says a lot of things that are blatantly wrong, especially relating to physiology. But she is a good teacher.
Erica is a great professor shes knows herself she goes off tangent. To get an A in her class you have to work for it. But shes really sweet.
Good professor, but she can be very scattered. She has missed about 5 lectures at this point in the semester, and has only notified us 1 time in advance. I don't get much out of her lectures, and I feel as though I am self teaching the material, even though I never miss class. Half of your grade comes from homework; which is a double edged sword.
Best professor in UB! She's very clear about whats expected and very easy to do well as long as you get your points!
She is a good professor. She posts classroom recordings online so even if you miss class, you will be fine. There are four midterms ad she drops the one. There is one cumulative final ad extra credit opportunities as well.
This is a 1 credit course that feels like a 4 credit course. Way too much for a seminar course. Needs serious work and evaluation.
Her class is very interesting
Erica was my favorite professor this semester! Her lectures are fun but dont rely on just the lectures for the test. While attendance isnt mandatory there are questions on the tests about certain stories or experiences she would talk to us about. MindTap is what we used for homework and the mastery training is the best thing to study for the tests!
Professor Goddard makes it extremely easy to achieve an A in the course. There's so much extra credit available along with 4-5 different things you can do to get points in her class. WATCH THE LECTURE RECORDINGS, everything that she says in the lecture will be on test, don't read the textbook it's useless. There's an optional final as well.
Goddard knows that most students are only here to meet a gen-ed requirement & is very generous with her grading rubric. Despite this, she makes her class extremely interesting and widely applicable regardless of what your intended field of study is. Her quixotic attempts to stop students from talking are annoying, but she's great nonetheless.
Lectures get a bit boring after a while, but it's easy to get a good grade, and prof Goddard is really sweet
Lectures are worth attending because you won't get this level of engagement and excitement out of most professors. Definitely worth taking her for Psych 101.
This online class was really fun. I loved learning about the different disorders. But she didn't do lectures on every chapter that we had to do and the Syllabus didn't include every chapter that we had to do for the MindTap activities. Also she doesn't explain the directions for the Research Summaries assuming that some people never used APA format
Taking Abnormal Psych with this professor online over the summer was incredibly confusing. The grading system is ridiculous. You will need to read every single detail of the syllabus and assignment instructions to get full credit on any assignment. Material is not hard, but it was a lot to focus on over the summer online, which I didn't anticipate.
I enjoy the material and the course is well organized. The workload is insane though and I literally can't keep up in the few hours I have after work each day. 5-10 tasks / assignments due EVERY NIGHT, discussions, key terms, quizzes, papers, etc. I work full-time and spend every second outside of work trying to keep up with this class.
Ugh the workload for online class is alot to keep up with and expects too much from a online class.. otherwise its okay better off taking it in class
The online class gives quite a bit of work, however, it is very manageable. There are many extra credit opportunities, and she is very responsive to emailed questions. Definitely listen to lectures and take notes or print out the slides she provides and it'll be a breeze.
great online course. Lots of homework and content. Must commit yourself for the course to receive an A.
Here's the thing about Erica.. She's a very sweet person who cares about her students. However, most times lectures were disorganized and all over the place. Tests were fair, but you must listen to the recorded lectures or actually show up to class. Highly recommend going to the review session her TAs arrange.
Great professor! I loved attending every class with her and she really made it interesting. She used MindTap, which was really helpful when studying for exams. Exams were very straight forward... One out of the five tests were dropped, and there were other opportunities for points.
Erica's exams are very fair but also includes lots of discussion so it's important to listen to the lectures and know the material. She's fair when it comes to exam questions and if there's something that seems iffy, she'll rethink it over and consider giving points out. Highly recommended.
Erica is one of the only professors I've taken that genuinely cares about her students. That being said, this class was very interesting but very disorganized. She kind up made up the syllabus as we went along which was good for lenient grading but tough to plan ahead. Regardless, she makes everything relevant to real-life and wants to help you.
Honestly Erica is nice, but she is not a good professor because her lectures are sooooo disorganized. It's really hard to get the grade that you want. I would advise you to use Mind Tap to study because relying on her lecture notes are not helpful. I would get a more organized teacher, but you can still get an A
I had Erica for Abnormal Psych before and LOVED HER. However, with PSY 423 she made a syllabus with no deadlines or due dates, she never told us what was required on assignments, and with 5 classes left in the semester everyone had an F. Grades are point based and she didn't assign everything until the last week of the semester. Do NOT take PSY423!
Erica is a very relaxed professor who grades leniently and allows a bit of extra credit. But she also is a bit disorganized and doesn't have exact due dates. There are also a lot of papers due and a lot of overall assignments, but she grades them easily and allows you to resubmit them. No tests in this class only a lot of papers
Very great professor. Loves what she's doing, and is very passionate. She's interactive, showing us videos and does examples using her children. Facilitates class discussion, and most people do participate. Her grading is really cool, breaking scores into sections and as long as you get a certain amount of points in each section, you'll be fine
I took abnormal psych with Goddard and did well bc it was a lecture with slides and exams. So I took mood disorders with her. HORRIBLE. Takes 50 points off papers for minor errors like grammar (not exaggerating). Very disorganized, makes it impossible to get an A on anything, no rubric or proper syllabus, will assign multiple assignments at once.
I decided to take 322 this semester as an elective. I wound up losing $1400 in financial aid because this class didn't fit into my major, but it didn't matter because Goddard is such a great prof. It's easy to get an A, her lectures are engaging, and she is so caring. Mental health is really important to her and she makes everyone feel welcome.
Erica's grading scheme is extremely confusing but once you get the hang of it, this class is an easy A. Her discussions in lecture can go extremely off topic so if you can just watch the recording at 2x speed. Overall, you don't need the textbook and this class is common sense.
Great professor. She models her class in a format that allows for much error. If you do some of the assignments, you do not have to go to class if you do not want to. All you need to get an A is 93 points. I was done three weeks before the end of the semester. It gave me extra time to focus on all of my other coursework. I highly recommend!
So shes very chill and loves to be the it Professor that students want to go to. Shes funny and honestly this was a bull easy A. I didnt do any discussions cuz it was very uninformed on grading and I skipped one online exam out of 5. Just read the lectures and youll be fine. Take her for Abnormal and do okay on exams but do the mindtap: B+
Worst Professor ever! Don't take her class! She gives three different kinds of homework: TopHat(average 30Q EACH week(do not include Q in class)), MindTap($95, not helpful with your grade but has enormous amount of homework), UBlearns(regular writing HW with video). With this amount of HW, this course only has 3 credits.
So Psy423 with Erica. She clearly had a lot going on, and was trying new things. Projects were sometimes confusing, yes. That said, I'm not sure what these other students that took this class were doing, but I had an easy easy A+ from the class 2 weeks before it ended. Just read the syllabus and keep up on your work (and feedback) and you're good.
Erica cares about her students, but it is an utter migraine to be in her class. 1. Utterly confusing grading scheme. 2. Late 85% of the time, rants for 10+ minutes, yet will blame students for wasting time by leaving 30 seconds early. 3. Hard to take notes when she jumps from point to point. 4. Half the TA's are power tripping and very patronizing.
Definitely go to class because she uses tophat, and you would want to be there for attendance and class questions she does in class. Test are on tophat, instead of paper exams.
I don't why know people keep getting mad about her grading criteria. It's very clear on the syllabus what must done to get an A. Also you can royally mess and still get an A. Half of the class is homework/ attendance question which is a little tedious. If your the person who doesn't want a teacher who cares about you don't take this class
Highly reccomend, she really tries to help every student succeed and she gives you lots of options to help gain points in the course to achieve the grade you want.
AMAZING teacher! If you have the opportunity to take a class with Erica please do. The class is back heavy meaning that there are tons of things you can do outside of class that will help you get an A. I failed each test yet I still got an A due to outside work. Also, there are 4 exams and 1 final (optional). If you take final, lowest test dropped.
Very easy class with ton of extra credits
Erica's class is point not percentage based. She gives lots of opportunity to get points in her class. There is tophat (exams are on here), Mindtap homework(optional) and extra credit opportunity. As long as you try in this class to get points you will definitely pass. If you have enough points for an A you don't have to take any more exams after.
She is amazing. Optional cumulative final. work enough, easiest A ever. Has classroom recordings, so skip the class. Point based. Very generous with points. Tophat test, you get the result about an hour and a half later. Mindtap too but optional. No textbook.
Honestly, I failed all 4 exams and still ended up with an A. All you need to do is do all the extra credit and make sure you do your assignments. Simple and easy A
Erica is a great and funny professor. She gets off topic very easily, but makes class fun. Her class is points-based, which is a little weird at first, but it helps you in the long run. She gives direct guidelines on how she grades her class and as long as you get enough points in each section, you have an A. I would definitely take her class again
The best Psychology professor at UB and one of the best professors at the school in general.
Erica is energetic, and has quite a personality. This makes for interesting lectures, and it's easy to pay attention. She genuinely cares for students, and I would highly recommend her for any PSY classes.
Erica is incredibly passionate about what she does, and very knowledgeable. Her classes are full of energy and always interesting. Showing up to class makes a big difference, as she uses tophot for class points. She makes it VERY easy to get an A and is supportive of her students. I would recommend her to anyone that has in interest in psychology.
Professor Goddard wants you to do well. She offers many opportunities for an A, as she knows that tests are not everyone's thing. Sometimes lectures would get off topic and she would have numerous attempts in quieting people down, but overall the lectures were straight forward. The material on the test is usually only what is covered in lecture.
There was a lot to consider when taking in the grade, many things came to impact the final. Don't be lazy, doing the little assignments really makes up in the long run. The mastery training helps prep for the tests, however quizlets and chegg can help prepare ;) She makes the online lecture really interesting.
She is good professor and offers a lot of opportunity for extra credit. Please do your self a favor and purchase Tophat and Mindtap. Points MATTER in this class. Attandance is not mandatory but points are earned through tophat. Learn and have fun.
She tries to make it impossible to fail her class, its actually possible to get an A in her class while receiving 70% on your tests due to the amount of ways to earn points in her class. She gives a lot of potential points and extra credit for people to pass as long as you put in some work.
This entire semester we've had to play catch up with the material. Despite this, she doesn't change due dates on homeworks. I've taught myself everything in this class and it's ROUGH. If you're confident in your ability to teach yourself statistics, sure, go ahead and take this class. Otherwise, change your schedule.
Erica is an excellent teacher that goes above and beyond to explain what ever question a student may have, and gave me so many resources to utilize. Its true that she stopped class a few times when people talked, but thats only because it was unbearable! Students need to learn that they have to put in work too, not just show up.
Ive been at UB for about a year and I have to say she is the worst professor here. She yells at the class for 20 mins and then tries to teach us new information in 30 mins. So if you want to teach yourself, then this is a perfect class to do so because she cant teach to save her life
Erica seems like she is a passionate professor but her Psychology of Gaming seminar course was beyond confusing and not helpful in preparing for the capstone at all. This was a 1 credit seminar course and I had more work in it than any of my other classes for my major. Lots of papers and no clear directions ever. Take a different seminar if you can
The worst teacher I have endured within my whole academic career. I would not recommend taking this class for a seminar. Multiple people are failing the class and she is a terrible grader. I went into the class we would do something related to psychology and I have yet to learn one thing related to the subject. Do not take if you want to pass.
Dr. Goddard does a very good job of laying out all material for the semester. That being said, there is a TON of material. Be ready to work ahead and teach yourself some of the material from the textbook. She is very smart but not the best at explaining the math involved.
Professor Goddard knows what she's talking about, but is terrible at communicating what she's saying. The word limit is too short to describe how bad this class is. She is always behind on material, doesn't know how to control a classroom, bad at teaching math, terrible notes, makes you use broken programs in order to pass. One of the worst classes.
Erica seems like a great person but honestly a TERRIBLE stats professor. You practically have to teach yourself the material because in lecture all she ever does is yell at the class to quiet down and gets off topic ALL the time. gives homework on material she hasn't even taught yet. Majority of the class is failing. take her at your own risk.
Stats with Dr. Goddard this semester has been the most stressful experience of college so far. Although Dr. Goddard seems to be a great person, the way this course was taught made it unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. Too many subscriptions/websites to complete assignments made this course WAY too confusing. Taught myself everything.
She is a tough grader and doesn't help much with hard assignments. She is available outside of class hours but she is very hard to get a hold of. She gives up an abundant amount of homework so be ready for a lot of reading and writing!
Dr. Goddard was a great professor and I enjoyed going to her class. Although my class had issues with some exams due to technical and timing reasons, she adjusted for it in grading. I didn't agree with all of the Cengage homework problems we had to do or the lab setup, but I was able to learn the content in an engaging way- that's what matters!
Dr. Goddard clearly knows what she is talking about, but struggles to convey the information. She assigns a LOT of homework, so you have the chance to raise your grade by completing it accurately, however, most of the homework is assigned before we had covered the material in class. I have no idea how I managed to get a decent grade.
I wanted to take abnormal psych but taking it with this professor was a great time. She brought in guest speakers and was very interactive within a huge lecture hall. Though yes you could get away with skipping, I don't recommend since her lectures are very helpful and she takes attendance randomly. She's a very bubbly teacher who's engaging.
Be ready to put a lot of work in, she is a tough grader and requires you to do the absolute most for this course.
I chose to take PSY421 with Professor Goddard because I really liked her last class in abnormal psychology. But for this class, majority of the class worries about failing this due to vague instructions on assignments and harsh grading. There is something seriously wrong with how the professor is teaching the class, nothing is learned entire summer
The course was probably the most challenging course I've taken at UB during my four years. The workload was too much to handle with more assignments to be completed during the exam week. Majority of people worried about failing this class, but the instructor listened and gave few chances for extra credit that eventually helped me to pass this class
She uses the respondus lockdown browser and I feel like its an invasion of privacy. She said she would only do it for exams and now is doing for every single quiz. I honestly feel like she does way too much. Her class is full of work and lectures are long. I would not take her class ever again
Do not take this class with this professor unless youre prepared to not do well. She is not clear on instructions and has so much homework. For a 3 credit class she acts like its a 6 credit class with the amount of work. She is not clear on instructions and a bunch of us did extra work that wasnt even going to be graded. Do not take her class.
The workload is simply way too much for an undergraduate psychology class. Her grading methods seem almost arbitrary and constantly change. Very knowledgeable but would not recommend taking this course because the class structure is just not stable.
Professor Goddard's only purpose in this course was to make passing utterly impossible. Her input/lectures were not needed as 100% of testable content was out of the textbook. She's a BIG fan of two things: busy work and pretending to sympathize with her students. Tests were unnecessarily complicated and graded harshly. Very different from ab psych
Avoid taking her she just does too much and honestly cant explain the material well in a way that makes sense. Her thoughts all over the place and she isnt a good teacher. She also grades harshly on top hat assignment just take another class not worth the stress
This is easily the most difficult and time consuming course I have ever taken in my life. There is a totally excessive amount of work. My balance of time doing work between PSY101 and my other courses is (no joke) 75/25. You'd think that a psychology professor would understand the importance of not overloading your students with work. Ridiculous.
She is the most awesome professor
The class was interesting and easy to follow. Besides that, she is the best instructor at UB. If you want to get to know someone at a professional level, she is the person to talk to. Besides being extremely intellectual, she is caring and compassionate. If you have the opportunity, get to know her and take PSY423
She never answers student questions clearly. She doesn't help and grades disscussion boards heavly. Then tells you that she doesn't. DO NOT take this course with this professor.
She is a wonderful teacher. There is a lot of work but it is done on our own time. Get ready for a million discussion boards.
This class was the most work I've gotten for any other class. So many discussion boards and very specific and harsh when grading. Tests are hard (even when you do the reading) and worth a lot more than anything else. Definitely would never want to take this class with her again.
*took fall 2020* this was the hardest class I have taken to this day. no lectures all based on the textbook , I study really hard to barely passed quizzes that had nothing to do with the textbook, 2 days before midterm told us there were short answer questions and that it was based on key terms not the text.
this woman doesnt seem to understand that she teaches a 1 credit course and demands that you treat her like a full 4 credit course. She is by far the most overbearing, worst TA you will ever have. Honest to goodness I have no idea how she thinks her class is worth the effort!
Erica Goddard has to be the worst professor in all of UB. The amount of busy work will amount to more work than you've done for any other class. She is also extremely disrespectful and truly a terrible person. I got an A and I'm willing to say that I spent most of my summer semester focusing on this annoying elective than my actual major. Avoid her
She's a nice person, but bad professor. I was surprised to find out her exams were all closed book considering most psych profs allow it, on top of using respondus. Lectures are boring and you don't learn much, she just repeats everything on the slides. Reading the textbook is more helpful, but take another prof for this class if you can.
Professor Goddard is a nice professor, but I will say I was surprised that we're not allowed to use our notes during exams, since a lot of Psych professors today allow you to use your notes. And since it's online and on respondus, it becomes really difficult. The textbooks are a bit clearer than what she says sometimes and it's hard to focus online
She is the worst professor I've ever taken. She is uncaring and unsympathetic. She doesn't care about people and only focused on herself. I would never take her class again because she has lack of empathy and sympathy. Don't take her class. Not recommended because of her attitude. Also, if you're international student, she'll probably call you out.
You can probably guess based on many of these reviews that she is uncaring and unsympathetic but one thing not listed is prone to microaggressions. She also refuses to take accountability for her actions and avoids lines of questioning, often focusing on any out she can find (particularly on exam length and time given). Would never take it again.
Very unclear grading criteria and way to much work for a simple class. I did fine on the exams but horrible in the class because of how much unnecessary extra work there is in this class and its going to impact my gpa. Do not take her unless you have to. I took PSY322 thinking it be an interesting class outside my major to learn but def regret it
Don't take her class. She is giving too much homework over the weekend and her exams are disasters. I took her class because I had no other choices. I won't take her class again. Too much reading assignments and its definitely not worth it. Also, the time given for exams are too short. Don't do it to yourself, just saying :)
She gives a lot of work on Cengage but you'll pass if you complete them. The tests are somewhat difficult but definitely fair.
This professor is awesome! She gives a lot of work, but at the end it makes sense why. She also doesn't give extra credit (except she does!), but if you do the h/w, take the quizzes, read the book, and attend lectures? You'll be golden. She sounds like Elastagirl, too! I liked her so much I'm taking her again this semester. Seriously caring, too.
This professor like to spend 20 minutes every lecture explaining something new about the class because she messed up and doesn't know what she is doing. But then when you ask her a question she becomes cryptic about it and won't answer your question. She also loves to assign a lot of work in a little amount of time. Second week we had over 70 quest
This professors ability to articulate concepts to her students is abysmal. The lectures provide confusing/little information about the material on the exams/homework, refuses to answer questions clearly and does not listen to student suggestions/feedback at all. This has been the most stressful class ever. I've taken Physics, Chem and Calc.
pointless lectures&seemingly tries to teach material in a purposely confusing way to make herself sound "sophisticated. "gives a ridiculous amount of assignments, that the computer grades for her btw. lacks basic organization skills&always changes/is unclear with her own policies. condescending&dismissive when students have concerns and questions.
Assigns an absurd amount of work, which obviously she has never done. Everything is graded for her automatically but she gets overwhelmed when we ask her questions about her nebulous lectures. Im sure she knows the material, but she is an awful professor. I have a high 90's exam average, but still barely passing because of the mountain of homework.
I loved her peppy personality- it made the class much more interesting. Tests were kinda difficult but very doable. She created a groupme for us to ask questions and always responded in a timely manner.
She has great energy, but she's terrible at structuring her class. She moves deadlines constantly, and assigns too much homework to keep up with. This was probably my most stressful course for the semester, because she cannot stay organized. Don't expect to learn anything about PSY, even though it's required for PSY majors - very diappointed.
There are lots of assignments but also lots of extra credit opportunities. I find this class pretty difficult but I think that was because it was online and I didn't pay the best attention. She answers emails frequently but sometimes they help and sometimes they dont.
She really cares about the material but also her students! She has lectures that you will have to attend to pass this class. You're able to take notes easily and she encourages questions and discussions in her lectures. She is also very accommodating with personal issues. I had a very close family death and she was amazing with helping me!
Professor Goddard is extremely unorganized and made this course way harder than it had to be. She assigned a crazy amount of homework and most of it was never tested or taught in the lectures. The tests were really hard even with open notes and the labs. I only got an A because of extra credit and I spent hours teaching myself the material.
No exams if you choose a group presentation as your final!! This class is good if you keep up with the work. There are 10 short papers that you have to tie back to the media, which are simple to write. This replaces taking exams throughout the semester. You get to interview an older adult which I thought was really inspiational and fun!
This is my second course with Prof. Goddard. She's awesome! I love that she gives LOTS of extra credit throughout the semester and cares about her student's success, She does make you think a little bit on exams but if you do the work, and read your book( i listened to it) you should do fine. And if not there's ALOT to buffer your grade
I loved her!!! She was relatable and kind, never seemed to cast judgement on what students brought to discussion! Never judged out genuine questions even if they seemed weird!!! Loved her grading and response time to emails
Dr. Goddard is, without question, perhaps the best individual i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have had severe medical issues throughout my college years, and every semester i had her as a professor was a blessing. She truly cares about her students, and she has worked with me outside of class every time i have been able to see her.
Did not help one bit with the tests
Dr. Goddard was always so personable and charismatic during class, & responded to every single email super fast. She cares a lot about the material she was teaching & broke concepts down in a super effective way. There is literally no way to fail PSY 101 from her without it being entirely your fault. Many extra credit opportunities. Do extra SONA!!
Very passionate about the courses she teaches. She gives good life examples to help understand concepts. The tests were mainly based on lectures, but still you will need to read the book in order to do the quizzes. Do extra SONA credits and as many as you can "effort credits", it will boost your grade in the end.
Good professor, passionate about what she teaches and accessible outside of class. Take the opportunity to do the extra credit because in the end you will need it.
1c course feels like 4 credits. Too much required work, feels very unnecessary for a seminar. Readings + prompts is for the course, but you also have additional work weekly to keep up with. Not a good idea to do this course if you are a STEM major with enough work already. A cool person, but should definitely want to restructure the course again...
I have never learned less in a college class. The professor is completely incompetent, and maintains an atmosphere that can only be compared to a low quality high school class. The professor micromanages more than she teaches. This class was my least favorite of my entire college career.
Prof Goddard is an excellent teacher. I took her 1c ub sem class and the work load was fairly light. Most of the assignments was ub cric and i had finished in maybe 50 mins. the work she assigns for the course wasn't complicated at all. Overall i would recommend her for this transfer sem class.
She has very clear expectations of students. 5 exams and an optional cumulative final to replace lowest exam grade. Weekly online homework assignment. TONS of extra credit opportunities. Lectures are easy to follow. Exams are open PRINTED notes.
Took this class as a seminar and for it being a seminar class, I was surprised by how much nonsense work she made us do. half of the time I had no idea what work was due or what I had for hw because she was terrible at explaining. her lectures are all over the place and I was lost most of the time, although lots of work she grades somewhat easy
This Professors cares about you. She has taken the time to design the course for students. I did bare minimum to get an A. I attended class regularly, studied based on study guides, did the HW and I passed with an A+ so easily. She herself is amazing, extremely knowledgeable, and makes lectures INTERESTING. Please take her she is amazing!!!!
Erica is a good professor and you can tell she truly cares for her students. She teaches the class very simple, so it's easy to understand. My only downside to her is she talks for too long on one slide and we run out of time then sometimes have to read in the textbook the rest. Lots of extra credit given! She definitely is the better psy professor
she got the game theory to gain points, she's pretty cool, not hard
grading is straight forward and exams are 90% based off of lecture. her slides don't contain much information, you have to fill in your own notes during lecture. lectures are long and boring it's like a glorified yap session. she rambles too much about one topic and doesn't have enough time for the next and will make us read from the textbook.
Erica is a very nice lady and you can tell she cares about her students but I feel like her lectures are hard to follow. I would spend a lot of time making my study guides and the tests would be nothing from my study guide. Do ALL extra credit because it really helped me out in the end and got me an A. I just wish she could get to the point
HORRIBLE IM SAVING YOU RIGHT NOW! do not take this class!
Clear presentation of class material.
Professor Erica is engaging, but her lectures can be disorganized. Definitely do the extra credit - it really helps! unstuck AI was great for quick study prep.
Very good professor and you can tell shes passionate about what shes talking about. Shes very nice and teaches well
If you want to take an easy psy course, this is not the one you should be taking. Prof. Goddard is super nice and kind, but everything else about this course stinks. The tests are the hardest tests I've ever had to take. They are open note so she makes the questions harder than they should be, you have to make sure that you have to take OD notes
TEST heavy Classes But she is an Amazing Professor who Lays Out the Classes Very easy. you have to be Really slow to Fail her classes.
