She is SOO helpful and nice! The book is and easy read and her lectures are clear. You have lectures the first day and the second day of the week you have group discussions. Easy grade. Fun class. GOOD professor!

Great professor, she is very clear on her grading criteria, and attendance is mandatory. I really liked her class because she tells you exactly what she wants and as long as you do it, there is no way you can't get an A.

Took her for HDFS 1300 and online for HDFS 4318 and both were super easy. She tells you exactly what she wants and her tests are easy. There are 3 tests and 2 papers for both classes, no final. I loved her. I would definitely take her again. She is very friendly and helpful.

I truly recommend her, she is very nice and her lectures are clear keep up with the readings so you can have a better understanding it will also be helpful for the tests.

She is a great professor! Her lectures are very interesting and clear. She gives small quizzes over almost each chapter she assigns and for exams it is very important that you did the reading. For exams I would study the power points and pages she specified in lectures and made A's on the exams. Take her!! 2 papers- but very simple.

Great intro class and awesome professor! I did't buy the book and found that the tests were simple enough to common sense your way through with a little help from the ppts. Weekly online quizzes, 2 papers, 3 tests. Attendance counts but won't hurt too much if you miss sometimes. Offers extra credit and follows the syllabus clearly.

Doctor Jordan has a clear passion for what she teaches and it makes the course very engaging. I took it to satisfy a core credit so it wasn't something I already had a significant interest in, but I found it was a class I liked going to. The lectures are straight out of the book, but you will need the book to do well on quizzes. Highly recommend.

Dr Jordan was an amazing professor! You do have to read a lot for her class but the textbook is interesting. She is willing to help you if you have any questions at all! She's very clear in what she expects from her students. You do have weekly quizzes There is extra credit opportunities but they take time bcuz it requires you to attend lectures.

Amazing teacher. Really cares about how her students are doing in the class. Their is online quizzes, 3 tests, and 2 papers. Study the material and do the assignments and you should get an A. I would definitely take her again.

Dr. Jordan is an amazing professor! For Exams the best advice I can give is know your key terms because in the exams there are scenarios and if you don't know then you are screwed not only that but go to lecture! They are interesting and you will learn from this class idky the other comments are complaining, suck it up its college!

This class has fill in lecture notes and is lecture heavy. I would buy the main textbook, but not the easy guide to APA Style, because she tells you how to cite things in APA in class and you can just look it up online. She gives you MANY extra credit opportunities and even extended extra credit deadlines. THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO FAIL!

Overall good professor and kinda cute too. The only negative i have about the course is the breakout lab sessions. My TA at times seemed kind of useless and lessons felt repetitive. Exams can get pretty tough if you do not read the textbook or listen to lectures. Gives a tone of Extra Credit and attendance is key. Two papers both were simple.

Very easy and simple class. Just fill out the lecture notes (fill in the blank) and read the textbook for the weekly online quizzes. If you do that, and review her notes before the exam, it is impossible to get anything lower than an A. It really is not hard material, just read the book and pay attention during lecture. Also several extra credit!

Dr. Jordan is a great profesor! The only problem I had was grading- for the most part it was fair! But some assignments required A LOT of work & when it came to grading it would be worth "1 point" a little frustrating. But overall a great and caring professor! Would take again! :)

Do all your work, do extra credit, and look up APA and you should be ok in the class. If you're new to college, this is as easy as it gets. Just make sure you pay attention in class and everything should be easy. One this is that most of her TAs suck and are really picky paper graders. Other than that you should be fine.

Great prof, but lectures from the guest speakers were drowning. It was absolutely miserable. The prof herself was very bubbly and super fun to have, but she was tough.

Dr. Jordan is a great prof. She's very organized and understanding. Even though this is a freshmen lever class, she grades with high standards. Attendance is required; she uses TopHat to take attendance almost every class. The class is graded over 2 essays, 3 tests, weekly quizzes from the book, and attendance. She offers a lot of extra credit.

Dr. Jordan is AMAZING! You can tell that she has a passion for what she is teaching. She is very easy to talk to. She is very fair with her expectations and how she grades. Read the material, take weekly quizzes, study for exams, complete extra credit and there's no reason you should not get an A! She is a great teacher!

Great, funny professor! I really enjoyed her course. 2 exams and 2 papers with a quiz and online assignment every week. The exams are a piece of cake if you know her Lecture Guided Questions that she gives. The papers are graded really hard by the TAs! Overall, an easy A if you put in the work (even if it's minimal).

She was a tough teacher but overall you could tell she enjoys her job. The tests weren't to hard it was more so the papers.

Dr. Jordan has a very big heart and is very understanding. 2 papers for this class; however, grading is tough. She offers lots of extra credit. Get ready to read; textbook is required and you need to read all the chapters from the book except the last two chapters. Tests are kind of hard but if you read the chapters and study, you will be good.

2 papers (pretty clear on what she wants and how she will grade), 3 exams (most of the questions come from her lectures/powerpoints BUT also make sure to read the chapters, since some questions are very detailed), go to class because she takes attendance (and it will help with the test). Overall, she makes you work for that A+ but it is possible!!!

Dr. Jordan is a SWEETHEART. I cannot lie and say this was the easiest course I have ever taken, because she does make you work for a good grade, but she provides a lot of extra credit and is very clear about what she wants. The tests were kinda hard, but I still think the class was worth it, overall.

The sweetest soul alive. Dr. Jordan is the best professor I've had this semester. Lots of weekly assignments, so make sure you keep up with deadlines. Wonderful professor who helps out whoever needs it. Class was fairly easy as long as you paid attention to the lectures. Textbook barely needed because the lecture PowerPoints went over what was needed for tests/ quizzes.

It was a hybrid class, but we only met up on Tuesdays and did the "online assignment" on Thursdays, from home. Easy class, but it does require a lot of time and reading. Great Professor!!

Quizzes and tests are based on the PowerPoints that she teaches in class. The topics are so interesting and relatable that I have no problem paying attention. You learn things about marriage, sexuality, abuse, love, etc. Three tests total & a quiz almost every week but its all through blackboard, so open note. Two papers, rough and final for each.

Great professor for an intro class. Could take online and still pass. 2 papers (rough and final), Sona extra credit, quizzes every week except for like 2 weeks. Very good lectures and easy to follow. This class was fairly easy. I took the hybrid and it was very nice. You have to get the textbook, without it you won't do well in the class. Even though this is a writing of the disciplines course, I wouldn't say it is extremely writing intensive. All of the work is doable, and the SONA extra credit helped me A LOT. Boost my grade

This class was not to bad honestly. What threw me off was the excessive amount of work we actually had to put into the class . Dr. Jordan had her students WORK for an A in the class. I ended with an A with the help of the extra credit opportunities . The hybrid class structure really helped give me the chance to work on chapter reading /quizzes

The class is interesting and the homework is easy and simple. There are two papers that are assigned and you are given a month and a half to do them each. The prompts are simple and she's helpful, but starting them might be a challenge.

Professor Jordan is super sweet and helpful. She's one of those professors that wants to see everyone pass. I took the hybrid class and we had in class attendance taken, weekly online assignments, and two essays and three tests. as long as you take notes in class and the online textbook you can use those on the online tests.

She's a great teacher, her class was very interesting and she provides lots of prompts and study guides. I took her HDFS 1300, the homeworks were very easy, however there was a lot of them so be sure to rememeber the due date. The papers were gradely kind of strictly. One bad thing is shes very hard to contact.

Absolutely LOVE Dr Jordan. I anticipated going to her class and doing the work that was assigned. Communicated very well with her students. There were weekly quizzes, two essays and three exams throughout the semester. After the time spent in her class, I ended up adding HDFS as my minor. Would recommend her to anyone if they asked.

Amazing professor. I just took this class for a core credit but I found it very interesting. She is very knowledgeable and tried to make the class fun with the examples she gave. The papers are kind of weird but if you just wing it and follow the criteria given you will get a good grade. Tests are online and easy.

Taken asynchronously during the pandemic. Dr. Jordan is an amazing, caring, and engaging professor. She puts in more effort to actually educate her students than just about every other professor at UH, especially during the pandemic. The class was manageable, dependent on quiz grades and two papers, and she regularly uploaded informative videos.

Took this during the pandemic & loved it. I was going to use this class as a laid-back class, and although it was really easy, I actually enjoyed the material which made the quizzes super easy. Two papers which were graded easily too. Prof seems kind and inclusive to marginalized groups/minorities. Take this class!!

Great professor! Dr. Jordan is wamr & caring and includes supplemental material to get you engaged in topic. Super interesting & relatable class. Just 2 papers and weekly 1 chapter quizzes. Be prepared to read about 20 pages a week and take a quiz on Sundays. Very straighforward and easy to understand concepts. Be sure to read whole chapter!

I've taken many courses with this professor before, she's always a solid choice. For this course in particular though, I found that I didn't really need to read the textbook, many of the questions on quizzes and tests were pretty common sense to me.

This was my second semester in a row with Dr. Jordan. I also took Dev. of Contemporary Families with her. She is one of the best professors I've had at UH. She gives specific instructions for assignments, provides helpful feedback and is easily accessible to students with questions. It is evident that she wants students to succeed.

I recommend taking her class she tells you exactly what to read and everything is well organized. There are 2 essays and a quiz every week but if you take notes you will be fine. Content is interesting nothing negative to say.

Her class was amazing. Dr. Jordan seems very knowledgeable and passionate! We had a quiz over readings every week and a paper! As long as you do the required readings and follow guidelines, you will do well! It didn't seem to eat up too much of my time, so take this class if you have a heavy load. Sometimes she took a long time to respond.

Took this class as an online course. Quizzes every week based on textbook, which you can find online for FREE, and articles/podcasts she assigns. There are also two essays. Very easy class to handle. She is very nice and responds fairly quickly to emails. She also gives out up to 10 points of extra credit!

Took this class asynchronous, it was pretty simple and easy to pass. The resources Professor Jordan provided were always very interesting and educational. Professor was also very accommodating during the winter storm. Overall I enjoyed this class very much.

I've taken numerous classes with Professor Jordan and every time I am pleased and would take her again. This course was extremely easy and very interesting, it helps a lot if you're not sure what you would like to do yet with an HDFS degree.

Professor Jordan is very organized, she posted recordings and explained very clearly what you need to do. I enjoyed her class. We had 2 papers and the rest of the material is pretty straightforward. Took this class for my writing in the disciplines credit. Two essays, which are really easy to complete. The topics discussed in this class are interesting. The only hard part of this class is the lecture quizzes, but you can look at notes and PowerPoint while you take the quizzes. No tests or Final. Easy A.

Offers lots of extra credit, which boosted my grade from an A- to an A! 2 essays which may seem hard at first, but really isn't that bad. The hardest part would be the book and lecture quizzes, but they are open note. Interesting lectures, I enjoyed watching it as it was different from my other classes. She gives us plenty of time to complete essay

Amazing professor! She requires 3 books that are easy to read if you spread the readings out or just look for the pdf of them and use ctrl f for assignments. Her lectures are really good and every test, quiz, and essay is mentioned by her clearly. She offers a lot of extra credit and is always open to chat with. 100% recommend this class with her.

Great class with material that is intriguing. I enjoyed the 3 books that were assigned and found the quizzes to be very easy (they're open-note). Since attendance is not required, I found skimming through her ppts to be enough to do well in the course. If you're not a fan of writing, beware that there are 2 papers worth a good amount of points.

Took her careers class in the summer. It was a lot of work, but pretty easy. I learned a lot from her and honestly I respect her a lot. Her level of professionalism is unmatched & she is so sweet! Her quizzes a little difficult, but if you read the articles she provides you'll be fine. I loved how engaged she is with her students. 10/10. recommend!

This is one of the most brilliant and kind professors one can take at the University of Houston. She is an understanding individual and her lectures are fascinating because she has so much drive and passion for the information she talks about. READ! There are books you have to read for this class and the book quizzes can sneak up on you quickly.

She is very active in the classroom and respectful Course Material wise , Your In Class participation matters in this course if you don't attend you may be a little lost. But lectures are clear and test matches the material. The books required are easy to read!

I don't understand the negative comments about this professor. The class is indeed compromise of essays, quizzes, and a book quiz but it's not difficult. For starters, the quiz is taken online and it's open notes; the questions were mostly based on common sense. The essay she gives out is pretty fun to write about and they're manageable as well.

Dr. Jordan was a great professor. Caring, respectful, clear with what she expects out of you and very knowledgeable about the subject. There were 3 books to read and 2 essays. All other grades were super easy lecture quizzes. No final. Everything was open book/open notes. She is also very accommodating to difficult situations. One of the best.

Dr. Jordan is lovely! She makes her lectures very thorough and easy to take notes. She also makes reading/study guides for the books she assigns which are also helpful for book quizzes (3 total). Writing in the class may pose a threat, but if you FOLLOW THE TEMPLATE AND USE THE RESOURCES SHE PROVIDES, you should be fine. Overall, good prof!

Professor Jordan is fantastic! I've taken her twice because she teaches well-organized classes and is extremely knowledgable and passionate about HDFS. The assignments in this class can be tedious at times but they are designed to help you in the long run. There is a big interview project due at the end of the course that is very easy. Great class!

Loved taking Dr. Jordan's class, she makes it easy to become interested in any topic she talks about. When writing essays she even helps with outlines and examples/makes a whole class day dedicated to explaining how she wants the paper done which helped me out a lot! I would choose Dr. Jordan for every HDFS class if I could.

I loved taking her minimester class over the summer. It was really easy. She was also super helpful and flexible after a hurricane hit us. I would 100% recommend taking her if you're looking for an easy and interesting class for your WID elective course!!!

This class is actually very useful if you're new to research in the field, but its a lot of work! Its pretty redundant otherwise, but gives you good basics for academic writing and research. I would NOT take this over the summer if you think you'll be busy, you'll have something due basically every day

She is very engaging in her lectures and absolutely knows what she is talking about. Attendence is counted as extra credit rather than an actual grade. However, she does do weekly quizzes over her lectures so best to show up. She assigns 3 books rather than textbooks and are quizzed over them. 2 essays are due instead of tests.

Very kind professor!! She was genuinely very caring. I had some personal stuff come up when we had an essay due, and she gave me an extension with no questions. Her lectures are very interesting and engaging. Your grades are going to be a quiz every week and 2 essays, which you get a lot of time to complete. All in all, very good prof!

One of my faves! Her class was great and she's very knowledgable. I took her class hybrid style and it was great because I got to talk to her after class to pick her brain, She cares about her students and their success. Stay on top of your due dates and pay attention to your note guides as they help you. The 3 books assigned were not bad either.

Took in Fall 2024. Only 2 essays and the prompts were straight forward and engaging. You could also email her the essays early and she would help you out on them. There were 3 books you had to read and take quizzes over. However, the quizzes are online and unprocured if you get what I'm hinting at. Also group work during class that was a free 100.

Chill professor, easy easy class, grades fairly, & not too many assignments. Sometimes you get extra credit just for showing up to class & participating which is nice for the extra points. You do have to read some books (not every chapter) but overall this was an easy simple class. Take Dr. J if you have the option!

Super nice professor with an overall pretty chill class. Consisted of 2 straightforward essays, weekly lecture quizzes, and 3 book quizzes. You're assigned 3 books to read throughout the semester, but it's only a few chapters from each. EC is offered as well. If you're interested in the subject or simply need the credit definitely take this class.

took this as a summer course, it was very easy and gave me a good understanding of family theories. one assignment every weekday for a month, as well as 2 essays, but it wasn't heavy coursework at all.

I really liked this course! I took it to satisfy my WID credit and I would not have picked another course. The material was interesting, the papers were easy, and Dr. Jordan personally helped looked over my essay! I only have good things to say, and I think the course load was fair. Highly recommend it!
