She uses lots of personal stories in her lectures that helps you understand more in depth. Awesome class.
Shes an awesome person. i loved her class even though it was 8 am. Shes super cool adn relatable. her tests are easy if you know the overall material. Highly suggest taking her class!
Dr. Noles is a UNCW Graduate and is a remarkable teacher. Took her over the summer, so we were in class for 2 hours and 15 minutes everyday, but they flew by. I recommend a class by E-Noles any day!
She is one of the best professors that I know! Her lectures are lively and engaging! She is a personable, hilarious young woman. She gives extra credit! It's in your best interest to go to class because she tells you important things that will show up on the test. Here tests are manageable if you study.
Noles is a great professor, if you have questions, ask them- she answers them and gives you lots of examples. As long as you learn the vocab from her powerpoint slides, you'll do fine on the test. Very personable- super nice during her office hours. You have to go to class- she gives attendance questions but isn't strict on tardiness.
Erica is the best professor I've ever had! She makes the class really interesting and I never dreaded going (even though it was my earliest class). She gives optional assignments that can contribute to part of your test grade or you can just take the test. The tests are pretty easy if you study. I would definetly recommend taking her class!
This was my favorite class at UNCW. Her lectures are super interesting and she's willing to answer any questions at all. She has a great sense of humor! Her tests will mainly be putting your knowledge into examples. She gives you a lot of chances for extra credit.
Dr. Noles was an awesome teacher! I would highly recommend taking her. She makes the lectures interesting and the tests are very straightforward. You can easily do well on the tests without reading the text book but you will do significantly better if you read the chapters like she tell you to. There's an opportunity for extra credit on every test.
Awesome professor, you learn a lot and she's really nice and hilarious but her tests are few and HARD.
Dr. Noles is an AMAZING professor. Everything she taught was paired with an interesting example. She gives so much extra credit. Go to class, study the notes and read the chapters in the book, and you will get an A.
She is by far the best and most hilarious professor at UNCW. I had friends come and sit in on her lectures that weren't even taking her class because she is so funny. Her class is tons of fun and she keeps it really interesting. I wish I could take all of her classes!!
Dr. Noles is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is very helpful and makes you want to come to class. She helped me realize how much I really didn't know about APA formating and also that small N design rules. If you take this class in the summer like I did, expect NO SOCIAL LIFE.
This class is awesome and Erica is BY FAR the funniest professor I have ever had. She wants to make sure everyone does well but you WILL have to work for it. Hardest class I have ever taken, but also my favorite class I have ever taken. Be ready to read, work hard, not slack off, and laugh your ass off! If you don't go to class though you will fail
she makes you feel respected because she treats you like an equal! she assigns a lot of work, but she grades it promptly and it challenges and prepares you. awesome discussions. very fun class. but a lot of group work and presentations. she is also hilarious and caring. this class is tough! i won't lie. but i don't regret this capstone! best one!
I love going to this class, it's extremely interesting and Erica Noles is hilarious! She'll keep you entertained while being an effective teacher, she really gets you excited about learning. She's strict about phones being out but gives you extra points on tests not to use them so don't be that person. I highly recommend taking this class.
She's very funny and gives a lot of examples. She's pretty laid back as long as you show up to class and don't text and play on you phone. Her examples are interesting and personal, as well as, easy to relate to. The tests aren't bad as long as you pay attention and read over the sections in the book that she highlights during the pp. Def Recommend
Professor Noles puts every single psychology concept into real life examples. She is amazing and I really enjoy her lectures. She is a very smart and funny woman, and does not act domineering and "above you" even though she has a PhD like some professors. She's somebody you would want to hang out with. Great class. Take her! Do the extra credit!
She's totally awesome; definitely my most favorite teacher so far. She's funny and she makes the material so interesting, even though it's interesting already. I'm a psych minor and I'm definitely going to take her classes in the future over any other professor. Her grading isn't confusing and the class isn't hard if you study.
Professor Noles is very friendly and entertaining in her lectures. She incorporates videos and personal anecdotes in lectures and is happy to clear up confusion by elaborating. Her grading criteria is easy to meet and she encourages questions. If you pay attention and review notes, exams are easy.
I thought my senior Capstone was going to be terrifying, but luckily I got into Dr. Noles' Capstone aka the best psych capstone and one of the best classes I've taken. She's a tough grader, but she explains her grading criteria clearly. Lots of thought-provoking lectures, she's easy to talk to, and knows how to be real with her students.
Dr. Noles really cares about her students and will go above and beyond to help. She gives plenty of opportunities to ask questions, as well as improve your grade. She's approachable, friendly, and overall an awesome person. My favorite professor so far!!
Dr. Noles was amazing! She was very funny and made the class fun. Her lectures are relatable and made psychology easier for me to understand. The textbook was only used for the extra credit opportunities on the tests. Overall, the class was easy and I would definitely take her again!
Noles is the best professor I have ever had! She cares about her students, and her lectures are actually really fun to attend, because she is hilarious! I learned so much in this class, and laughed even more.
Dr. Noles is one of the best professors Ive had for an intro class. She always has a life lessons that goes along with lecture. For her intro class, she gave us the short answer questions a week or two ahead of time and allowed students to write about 5 topics that were not tested on but you studied. She is a fair grader with minimal work.
She is the best.
Dr. Noles was my favorite teacher in all of college by far. I will promise you that her class will be hard and you will have to work harder in her class than probably any other class, but it will be worth it. She taught me more in one or two classes than I've learned in all of college. She's just an amazing person and you'll be happy you took her.
Dr. Noles is one of the best professors I have ever had, but this class is kind of a pain. You have readings and assignments due every week and it honestly just feels like busy work. One major paper/project and a group project you are responsible for as well. Not very difficult, and as long as you do the work you will (probably) get a good grade.
Noles was awesome! I really enjoyed her class. I took it in the spring so I'm having a hard time remembering specifics, but I do remember having four tests (the last was the non-cumulative final), article analysis before every test, a certain number of hours in a psych lab, and a final (super easy) project. She really gets that its an intro class.
TAKE UNI WITH NOLES!!!! So many people complain about how much extra work or how boring their UNI class is, but she assigns just a small amount for each class and makes each class discussion relateable and intriguing. If at all possible, take UNI101with Dr. Noles!
Very funny and caring. Interesting lectures
Dr. Noles is the best teacher I have ever had in my life. I was never bored in her lectures and she did everything she could to help us out as much as possible. If you have the opportunity, take her class!!!!!
Dr. Noles is THE best teacher I have ever had. I have genuinely never met someone more helpful and understanding than her. Homework can get a little heavy, but she is very fair. I learned so much from this class, and I will definitely be using the skills/materials she gave me in Grad school. TAKE HER- you will not regret it!
Best prof I've ever had, probably the best psych course I've taken. The class isn't easy, but effort is taken seriously and rewarded. Dr. Noles has given me amazing feedback on my work, spent extra hours outside of class helping me with my papers and project, and gives incredible advice. She really cares about her students. Take her if you can!
Dr. Noles is a dog. One of the most relatable professors I've ever had. Her lectures are great and she seems to have a funny story for every concept she teaches. Also is very understanding. I had two things that I never turned in because of a mixup during the semester. She worked with me and ended up giving me credit for them.
Do yourself a favor and take your Capstone with Dr. Noles!!! You will not regret it. She is the best professor I have ever had, and truly cares about her students. If you put in hard work you will do well. You will become a better critical thinker, a better presenter, and leave college feeling confident in your education. SHE IS A GEM!!!
Dr. Noles is truly the best professor I have EVER had. Take her capstone if you can. I was so nervous about capstone but she made it fun, and I really feel like I learned more in her class than any other class ever. She really inspired me and gave me such great feedback, and made such an effort to get to know all of her students. she is the best!!
This was the hardest class I took all 4 years at UNCW. She treated it like it was the only class you were in. At the time, I was in my neuroscience lab semester, and had a very full workload. The grading was insanely harsh. I got a 36 on a rough draft of a paper in this class. A rough draft. Unless you are talking minimum hours, do not recommend.
Did not warn of projects or big assignments. Lectures and notes were fine, but used 15 pages of instructions for 1 project and counted them as test grades, but did not put. this on the syllabus. Responded very late or not at all to emails.
Dr. Noles is by far my favorite professor I've had in college. She is so understanding and kind. She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. You will actually learn the material in this class without having anxiety that you will make a bad grade (if you put good effort in). Fastest/most fair grader ever, hilarious and relatable
Dr. Noles is a very caring person, but in my opinion she was honestly the worst professor I've had at UNCW. There are 3 projects counted as test grades and took me HOURS complete, of which had multiple pages of instructions. This class was nothing but busy work and the assignments were tailored to her grading style rather than to help you learn.
I took this class in the fall of 2020. Dr Noles was an amazing professor. I was a little disappointed going online with this class bc I was thinking of minoring in PSY but I really enjoyed her online lectures and am still planning on a PSY minor. Dr Noles definitely knows her stuff. She doesn't do a lot of tests, just an open-note final & projects.
Dr. Noles is my favorite professor. She actually cares about you learning, so her grading scale is perfect to reduce anxiety if you are an anxious student like me. As long as you put in excellent effort, you will get a great grade. She is really caring and gives great feedback! It is also helpful that she accepts work until 8am and not 11:59pm!
Dr. Noles is absolutely AMAZING! Her teaching style/grading system is refreshingly modern, and she truly cares for each student. She leaves thoughtful & detailed responses on every assignment, and she still grades way faster than anyone else! She is very open-minded and SUPER understanding - she even stands up for her students! You'll love her :)
Dr. Noles makes lectures interesting, but the class required a lot of busywork: one or two discussion boards a week, one or two online quizzes a week.. just manage your time and youll be fine.
Dr. Noles is possibly one of the best professors in the UNCW Psychology department. She is motivating, kind, responsive and respectful. She is very accessible outside of class and goes above and beyond for her students. Having the opportunity to take her class for my capstone is definitely a highlight of my time at UNCW. Love her!!!
Dr. Noles is the best. She requires you to turn in your typed lecture notes, but it really isn't bad. You have 3 projects rather than tests, and the exam is open note. The only tedious thing was the textbook checklists, but everything else was fairly simple. She's super nice and tries to make online learning fun and laidback. Love her!!
I love Dr. Noles. Her lecture slides are some of the best I have ever seen, and you can tell that she put a lot of work into them. I had her for my honors general psych class, and ultimately it was pretty easy. Every quiz and test is open test and notebook, and she is super chill. Some weeks there is a lot of work, but due dates are flexible.
lots of things due on the same day. there will be a quiz, test, and two projects all due on the same day. other than that there is not a lot of work
She is literally amazing. So kind and so respectful, one of the only professors who makes learning fun but also teaches life lessons. Not to mention she is hilarious, if you have the chance - please come take Dr. Noles class! The work load isn't bad and there is no memorization
Dr. Noles is a phenomenal professor. She is truly passionate about social/personality psychology. This class is a capstone, so expect a lot of work. However, nothing is busy work. The assignments are designed to help you learn and critically think. She also makes writing a research paper so stress free (as much as it can be). PLEASE take her class
There's no memorization required & she gives good feedback but there is so much work so beware. We would have like 4 things due at once. Overall, this was an easy and fun class but I honestly saw no point in the course. All we did in class was discuss the readings we had to read the night before. I wish we focused more on writing scientific reports
We would have many things due at once. It would be overwhelming with 4 other courses in the same semester. I liked that this class was not like other classes that I have taken before but there were many aspects of this class that just were not for me.
Professor Noles is AMAZING. She truly cares for her students. The work in the class is heavy and she makes you actually put in effort but it is so worth it. This is the first course I've taken in college where I really feel as though I will take with me the information I learned forever. She's the best professor I've ever had.
I took PSY 105 with Dr. Noles first semester of my freshman year and it was by far my favorite class. She is very entertaining and teaches the material well. You never have to memorize anything, tests are all open note. 3 times a semester you have about 4-5 major assignments due at once, which can be overwhelming, but she is flexible with due dates
I think that Noles is a solid professor. The class is heavy discussion-based, which entices a lot of good conversations, deeper conversations. I think at times it was a little too direct. And there is a lot of work! A lot more work than any other freshman seminar. She does allow for resubmits on most assignments, and she is rooting for you to pass
Dr. Noles is great, I def recommend her HON110 class. She is super fun, supportive and cool. You will have to write a lot of reflections but as long as you are genuine with your material, you will do good in her class.
i took psy 105 with her and she is by far my favorite professor i have ever had. she makes the lectures so interesting and keeps me engaged. she is also hilarious and provides many examples from her own life. she is extremely caring and will work with you on deadlines if you have something going on. i 100% recommended her!!!
By far the best teacher I have ever had. She is a very fair grader and has minimal large assignments. Just weekly quizzes which were super easy and online. If you pay attention in class and read the text, the exams are super easy. She cares about her students and gives very clear instructions on assignments.
Amazing professor, incredibly intelligent and great teacher!
By far the best teacher I've had at UNCW. The textbook is interactive and actually makes the learning easy and fun. Projects and homework is graded harshly but she gives great feedback which makes it easy to do better next time. Extra credit and tests are open book.
She is the best! Attendance is expected but you can work with her on this as well as due dates. Many assignments would be due on the same day, so time manage. Her lectures are interactive and she encouraged questions. Amazing, in-depth feedback on assignments. She is an expert in her field and is also hilarious. Interactive e-book. Take her!
Dr. Noles is amazing! She grades quickly and always gives great feedback and insight into all assignments! She cares about you as a person and will remember your interests! She is great at recognizing and providing accommodations. Please please take her!!
Dr. Noles is absolutely amazing. I have not a single complaint. Her lectures are always interesting and she relates it to us so its easier to understand. Her homework is not overwhelming at all. Go to class and read the instructions to your assignments and you're set! Take her!!
Open notes for everything, gives great feedback, will answer any question you have and won't belittle you for it, grades very fairly. Would take a class again if it meant I had her as a professor.
Definitely take Dr. Noles! Her lectures are very entertaining and she relates almost all of the topics to real-life experiences. She encourages questions and class participation, which I really enjoyed, as well. She offers a lot of extra credit, so take advantage of that! Her tests are online, and you are allowed to use notes!
Class consists of homework's due every week- keep trying to get a 100, 3 online open note exams, 3 media projects, and tons of extra credit opportunities. Very funny and tries to make her lectures relatable. You also have to do 6 Sona System credits where you go out and participate in research experiments. Take good notes and you will do great!
She is the best professor! All exams are online and her lectures are so engaging
Dr. Noles is a great prof who knows what she is teaching about. She has a passion for this class and makes sure it's accessible in terms of feedback on grades and instructions. If you are interested in social or personality psych, I would choose Dr. Noles! She is a fair grader and is a professor who actually gets to know her students.
Dr. Noles is a great person and a good lecturer. I liked her class style, but I did not enjoy the way assignments were given. All assignments were due all at once, and it quickly overwhelmed me. We would have a couple of large projects and exams all due on the same day. I loved her, though!
Dr Noles is a lovely person and is enjoyable to be around. However, I thought that the class was a considerable amount of work. All of the exams and projects are due the Sunday after they are given. There is also a year long group project. If you are taking hard classes, I would not suggest this. Lectures are hard to sit through. Way too much work.
EMPHASIS on the lecture heavy. While she is nice to be around, her class lectures drain me and do not keep my attention at all. Se talks so much! All of your major projects and assignments are somehow due on the same day. She will insist this is necessary...it is not. The whole class is busy work but overall an easy A. You probably won't learn.
This class really isn't that difficult. It is pretty aggravating to go to though. Not to mention there is a lot of work. I would just suggest taking psych105 online tbh. Would be 100x easier.
Dr Noles is very nice but this class is not lol. There is a group project throughout the year that has a lot of work to be done, in addition to the many other projects and homework. I just think that psych105 would be easier online tbh. Lectures are hard to sit through
This professor does not know key terms in psychology. This professor lacks skills/ concepts that anyone in psychology field should know. Dr. Noles could benefit going back to college to learn how to teach.
Amazing and interesting lectures, hard to do bad in this class as long as you pay attention and take notes. She allows you to have one index card front and back of notes to use on exams. Weekly online homework is easy, 3 exams not cumulative, 3 projects, and will allow you to edit and improve projects for a better grade, just follow rubric.
Best professor I've had so far. The class is super interesting, she's hilarious, and she genuinely cares about her students doing well. Do the homework, ask questions, and you'll be fine. 100/10, she's the best.
I LOVE Dr. Noles! I would take her for every class if I could. Her class is very challenging and makes you critically think but she provides amazing feedback and is a fair grader. She LOVES AI so you are allowed to use that within her guidelines. Class is split half and half. First half is discussion based- no computers, second half is lab time.
This class has the best discussions but be ready to work. Do not take this class if you just want an easy A. Dr. Noles is phenomenal and requires you to think. Very good discussions and topics covered. She is funny too!
Dr. Nole's will hold you up to a high standard, but you will learn a lot! She's very invested in teaching her students how to think critically. Though challenging and writing-heavy, she gives very clear guidelines, so you won't feel instructionless or lost. A very rewarding class to have taken!
The projects are definitely time consuming so I 100% recommend starting them early. The most frustrating part of this course was the sona system credits which had nothing to do with her. Her lectures are amazing and her study guides are incredibly helpful. I would 100% take her class again!
Dr. Noles was such an incredible professor! All of her lectures were based on class participation. We took quizzes (you can always get 100 if you keep at it) on textbook readings prior to class, then came to class with questions. Exams all online and open note. One large group project at the end of the semester. She is very personal and caring!!
Dr. Noles capstone course is extremely challenging. However, she is a great professor! She is super understanding and will help you if you are struggling or need additional support. Dr. Noles is incredibly thorough with grading and will give you incredibly specific feedback. She always uses a rubric and grades fairly. I would 100% recommend!
Dr. Noles is the best professor I have had. She truly cares about the course and her students. The most personable and understanding professor. Great feedback and fair grader. Course is writing heavy, but the heavy writing helped to learn more than I have learned in any other course. I would recommend her 100 times over again.
