Most monotonous class that gives too much busy work. Not terribly hard but very unnecessarily long.

First of all, safe yourself, your grade, and your mental health. She is such a horrible professor who give busy work and takes points away for the most stupidest things. You can reach out to her but she'll always refer you back to her previous announcements before even answering your questions. Literally hate this class, her TA sucks too!

Worst class and professor ever, so much busy work for no reason. Points are deducted from discussion boards for stupid things, she is no help. you are better off taking a different professor.. also her extra credits are worth 4 points and wont even give you the 4 points for doing it, she takes off points if you miss something

Currently taking this professor for CJ 302, I have not been impressed by her level of teaching. She provides unclear directions for her assignments and tells students their work is not meeting her expectations. Stay away from this professor at all costs and her TA, Noah who is a harsh grader.

I had an A the entire semester which I have worked extremely hard for despite my other 4 classes and despite her TA who tries to find any mistake to take points off. She asks for 1 paper but the prompt is very confusing and she grades you very harshly on it. Each DB is around 400-800 words and her questions are hard to understand. Never again!

Currently taking. Started off by having issues with immediate access. Multiple students reached out & we got told to talk to technical support. Turns out the book was never registered for our class! Her lecture slides do not explain the textbook; copy & pasted; missing a lot of information. Weekly discussion boards are heavy; full credit is rare.

Lots of reading sometimes 2-3 chapters a week. Doesnt explain to you why she graded your assignment the way she did. Doesnt take the time to talk to her students tells you to talk to the TA if you have questions. Lazy and worse teacher Ive had smh. Never would take her again

If you love yourself and care about your mental health, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Avoid it like the plague, pick another CJ 303 class with a different professor. Absolutely do NOT recommend

If you care about your sanity don't take this class. She graded EXTREMELY difficult and nothing you do will ever be good enough. Her TA grades everything and she gives no feedback. If I were you I would take another class. I only took it because she was online, but never again. She's horrible, DO NOT TAKE :/

This professor has her TA grade and she is an extremely tough grader . Getting full credit is impossible in this class. Requires too much work , do yourself a favor and pick the other professor teaching CJ303 STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR if not youll be crying while working on her assignments .

Her TA Kaylen is an extremely tough grader she grades as if she was never a student. Professor assigns confusing assignments, terrible fill-in-the-blank tests, no direct quotes allowed. You'll lose points over everything! Many take her class because it's online, but this professor is terrible seriously. I will NEVER take this professor again!

WORST class I have ever taken! Both professor and TA Kaylen are very picky & confusing as to what they are looking for within the assignments. One day I'll use direct quotes & they say to paraphrase instead, then I'll paraphrase & I get marked down for it! I got marked down on a powerpoint assignment due to the theme being a black background SMH!

If I could give this professor a zero, trust me I would. Her current TA Kaylen is the worst! Her grading criteria makes no sense at all and all Prof. RV does is agree saying to listen to the feedback. As a professor at SDSU, she really needs to do a much better job with the class, very unprofessional. As for Kaylen, she needs to get dropped as a TA

This class is the worst class Ive ever taken , her TA Kaylen grades everything and is an extremely tough grader !! She says do one thing and when you do it she marks you down . The professor agrees to her feedback without seeing the TA doesnt know what she is doing . Stay away from this professor and her TA Kaylen

In my three years of college I’ve never taken a class I truly hated and regretted , this class has to be it . Professor has a TA Kaylen grade papers she grades very tough she will find anything to remove points even if you did good. Very confusing class , never explains what it is expected. Quizzes have fill in the blank . Find a better professor

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! An extremely tough grader, professor contradicts herself a lot. TA finds every little excuse to take off points, such as not quoting or quoting a lot. Instructions are very confusing, tests consists of fill in the blank questions and will mark you wrong if you accidentally misspell words.

Terrible professor not sure why our criminal Justice department has her . Her TA kaylen is a terrible grader and the professor just responds “ I agree with kaylen..” she copies and pastes that messages to all students. Both professor and TA make the class living hell . Stay away find another professor !!!

Terrible professor and terrible TA , tough grading . No guidance what so ever , full points is impossible. This class makes you try your hardest and when you do all you become is disappointed because of how terrible her TA grades . This professor has to go, stand up Aztecs!

Avoid taking classes with this professor like the plague! Treats this class like it's a masters course. Have never had a class that makes me feel less then until this one. This class took a toll on my mental health. You're going to spend the semester not having a clue on what your grade is because she is always behind on grading.

Avoid taking this professor if you can. She is the toughest nit-picky grader and it feels like no matter how well you think you did, it’s not enough for her. Her feedback is a lot of words with no meaning to them, and when you try to get clarification, she offers none. It feels like she makes up her grading guidelines on the spot. Very sad.

This professor and class are horrible! This is the second class I’ve taken with this professor. She grades your papers so harshly. You’ll most likely never get 100%… It’s ridiculous… The TA grades just as bad. She docks points for no reason. On my last assignment I had lost points because the TA was “pretty sure” my quotes were wrong.

For the sake of your mental health, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR !! Each week is a living hell trying to do the assignments with confusing guidelines. Professor relies on the TA to grade the assignments, getting 100% in any assignment is impossible. Tests have fill in the blanks, if you misspell a word, you are marked wrong. Stay away !!

STAY AWAY!!! Listen to the negative reviews they are speaking facts I’m currently having mental health issues because of this class !! The positive reviews sound like her TA posting fake reviews ! You email the professor and there will still be no progress ! Stay away seriously. This professors shouldn’t be teaching what so ever !

DO NOT TAKE. Gives wrong tests to wrong class, grades extremely hard. SO much homework. She shouldn't have good reviews at all. Argues with you when asking questions, and berates you. It's really upsetting and I had to drop this class due to how incredibly rude she is. It is sad that she is a professor.

Don’t take this class. TA grades harder than her and she just agrees with whatever her TA says. She won’t give any feedback if the TA already have feedback. The TA and this professor won’t care if you go through hard troubles in life. Papers aren’t clear enough to write and she expects you to perform well with so little.

I never rate professors, but I feel like I should rate this one to warn others . This professor is terrible , this class truly sucks its extremely stressful, you can never can get full credit and her stuff is confusing . the professor even assigned us a quiz that was for another class like how do you mess that up ? This is the absolute worst professor I've ever had. She grades like it's grad school or you're trying to get a PhD. She provides little to no feedback on assignments and she takes way too long to grade assignments so you have no idea what your grade is the whole semester. Stay away from this professor

I took this prof. for CJ302 and I think she's worse for 303. She's such a tough grader, never satisfied with any work you turn in. It's impossible for a perfect score on discussions. She does not provide a clear answer when you ask her a question. I do not recommend her, please take someone else.

Had her last sem for 303, pretty easy and got an A in the class. Bc I didn't mind her last sem, I registered for her CJ 302 class this semester. Idk what happened in 1 month of winter break but she is such a hard grader now, never gives you a perfect score on anything or gives good feedback. TA Jewel is absolute worst thank god she got fired

Definitely do not recommend. One of the worst classes I have ever taken. Very touch grader and you basically have to teach yourself. I recommend you save yourself the time and stress.

The worst professor I have ever had. Doesn't give clear grading criteria. Posts grades way too late. Good luck getting 100% on anything. It's like she is just looking to take points off no matter what. She opens modules on Mondays, and they need to be done by Friday. 2-3 chapters, outside material, and then a paper or discussion. AVOID her class. No video lectures, heavy reading. Basically teaching yourself. Will never get a perfect score on anything you write. Never gives you enough time to complete quizzes or exams. Believe the reviews! You will not get an A even if you work hard. Take another professor that cares.

This professor is extremely rude, unprofessional, and straight up does not care about her students. She is a terrible grader (always grading late, refusing to tell you why she gave you your grade, and will never give you full points) and a terrible professor without even having to lecture. How she became a professor and received a PhD is beyond me.

Professor rv was a horrible professor she doesn't lecture she doesn't even have slides she lectures off of the book or whatever she finds off the internet her class is not even structured as someone who's on the autism spectrum this class isn't for me I would not recommend this professor!

Worse professor ever. This is a class that is consider full time having a job and other classes will create so much stress. In 5 days she expects you do a discussion and a reflection and a quiz. I have never taking a class like hers please stay away from. I work go to school and have kids her class is not for the everyday person

This teacher was so confusing I would not take her at all. I would have 100 times should have taken a night classes with another teacher. So much work she thinks we don't have other classes or work a job. Do not take her you will regret it so much not worth it. Waste of time and not even helpful in any sort of way. Same thing for 303 as 304. Excessive with regards to every assignment and the amount of work that is expected. Students must read and read, endlessly, as that is the main method of teaching here. Even on finals week there was work to do, alongside the lengthy presentation that was assigned. Avoid her at absolutely all costs, do not ignore this.

The class was 100% online and she graded assignments so harshly while never giving feedback that made sense. AWFUL teacher, she is one of those professors that doesn't care if the student succeeds or not. Honestly wish I took it with a different teacher because she makes it impossible.

Unprofessional. Everything is true. This course was offered during the summer, I had to enroll. This professor will look for flaws in your assignments, homework, or anything else for a poor grade. With the exception of this class, I never received a C. If you want a good grade, please avoid her. Its unfair for students who pay for classes.

Professor Erica Redner-Vera is very strict. When asked to clarify instructions she basically tells you to "look at the syllabus and/or assignment." She is unclear when it comes to feedback and assignment instructions. She is very unhelpful and seems to not care about her students. Sorry but she should not be a Professor.

Never encountered a professor like this and never have I gone to lengths like this to review one. 85% of the assignments contain no feedback, the other 15% poor feedback. Students will perfect their assignments and she will do everything in her power to score you badly. All these reviews are not exaggerated, she's so terrible that it's laughable.

The course is heavily one sided and fails to bring to light the struggles of smaller minorities and movements. It is heavy on assignments, but is manageable once you get the hang of it. She isnt quick to respond to messages and is unhelpful when she does. Overall, if you dont agree with her views youll be marked down on the course.

Dr. Erica Redner-Vera is very unprofessional and one sided when it comes to her opinions. The class lacks inclusion of other race and ethnicity groups, she only mainly focuses on one race group. Class is manageable if you show up and the readings are insanely long and boring. A class that rarely has anything to do with the criminal justice system.

This course was awful. No interaction by the professor and no clear instructions. She provides two different sets of rubrics but only goes based off of one, which makes everything much more confusing. She is not fair when it comes to extra credit and her grading is very much one sided due to it being opinion-based work. Class is seld taught.

Worst professor I've had in all 4 years of undergrad. Gives minimal feedback on assignments, but is happy to take points away whenever possible. Course content is easy, she just makes in a miserable maze. Clearly has absolutely zero stake in student success. Does not do any real teaching, as every assignment is based on class readings. Do not take.

A lot of reading and assignments are due in .ppt format for no apparent reason. Does not give specific feedback, simply says look at the rubric. Strict deadlines for assignments yet she takes weeks to grade your work. Only took her class because it was online, otherwise I should have known given the amount of negative reviews.

This is the worst professor I have had. She is lazy and requires you make tons of videos of yourself so that she doesn't have to read anything. She provides a ton of instruction but is never clear about anything and sets up assignments in canvas that block your file uploads and makes everything ten times more difficult. Never take her classes.

I wish someone else was teaching this 304 class. She is the only 1, and this class is required for my BA . The assignments are something out of this world. We deserve better Profs. - (Hunger Games three-fingers)

All the negative reviews are 100% accurate. This is manageable but it's extremely annoying because she knocks off points wherever she can & without explanation. I've always had A+ grades until I took this class. She sucks the fun out this. I think the good reviews here were written by her herself. Anyways, goodluck with this course. You'll need it.

Worst professor I have ever had! Takes off points for fun from random assignments and has no leniency. The assignments are easy, her grading and the type of assignment is overly difficult. Had to take this course to graduate but would not recommend at all!

Doesn't care about you, she often treats her students like if they're her children who need to be taught lessons. The only teacher I have met at state that is the definition of petty and micromanages.

Her class is fairly easy to pass as long as you attend since she does a lot of surprise assignments/quizzes. However, be prepared to wait a long time to get any important grades back. She can take months to grade big assignments. Also seems to dock points somewhat randomly.

This professor was really hard to reach, didn't give feedback, and when she did it wasn't helpful. I would never recommend taking a class with her.
