Great professor. Very nice, and a very easy grader. As long as you do the homework (which is usually easy) and come to class, you'll almost definitely get an A or a B. Would definitely recommend :)

This professor is amazing I took her for SOC. 201 and 202, both classes have been extremely easy. The only way to fail her class is if your lazy and don't do your work. She is very clear and understanding to attendance as long as you call or text her she doesn't mind. HW is super easy and so are her midterm and final!! I def. recommend her!

This professor is amazing, she makes classes fun and it's impossible to fall asleep in her class because it's so interesting! She's quite new but knows what she's doing. Don't take advantage of her kindesss though because she can get serious. Super easy if you do all your work and participate! Loved taking 201 & 202! I recommend her !!

Great teacher! Very funny. All you have to do is do the work and you will pass. I even got sick and had to miss a lot of days, and she was completely understanding. This is not to say you can just skip class. She's very serious about that and if you miss class, you better have a very good excuse. Would absolutely take a class with her again.

She is the greatest teacher ever! I changed my major because of this woman! She is easy to get a long with & clearly answers all your questions. She has 2 papers, 4 Clipping assignment (EASY), requires chapter notes (EASY) for each class which then becomes your cheat sheet for the final. Everyone in her class got A's & B's! TAKE HER CLASS!!!

Tries to make the material understanable to students, is also funny, would recommend her, but this Class is a strange mix up of too many things the class consists of 4 in-class quizzes, 3 exams, 4-5 online quizes and a confusing group report, on chapters, a presentation. If you can handle so many things, do take the class with her

Dr. Smith is GREAT! She's fun and makes the course/subject tons of fun. Easy A, as long as you show up,participate (which you naturally will) and do the expected work. I've had her for both SOC202 and SOC215 and I recommend her both and any other course she teaches! You won't be sorry!

EASIEST CLASS EVER!!AMAZING PROFESSOR! no homework, reading is minimum, 1 chapter per week. She doesn't like to see people using phones in class, if she finds you using your phone, she will make you bring food for next class! She is with no doubt the best professor at NOVA! TAKE HER CLASS!!

Hands down the easiest teacher ever. Just do the quizzes and study from those; you're pretty much set for the whole semester. The class is really fun and it's easy to make friends in this class.

GREAT TEACHER, GREAT CLASS. Sociology isn't an easy subject but the way she teaches is so fun and alive. All the quizzes are online and you have multiple attempts so it's impossible to fail. Her tests are kind of hard so studying is a must. EASY A

Prof. Smith's class was super easy, and slightly eye opening. Sociology isn't my major, but I can see why people say she's a good teacher, she knows her subject.

I'm sure she's a great professor, but all of the other posts failed to mention how much group work was involved in her class. Two group projects/presentations and a lot of group discussions. If you like group work then its the perfect class for you, but I can't stand group work and am usually stuck in the group that doesn't do anything.

Let me just get straight to the point, SHE FREAKING ROCKS!!!! Powerpoints, easy online quizzes which can be taken multiple times, easy homework, understanding, funny and overall a GREAT TEACHER! Take her class. Do the work, come to class, participate and you're sure to get an A! :)

Kindof loud but very funny and straight-forward, she is interactive with her class and tries to get everyone involved. Study key terms and her powerpoints and you'll be fine. Couple of group projects which can be frustrating if you get wrong people. Take her!

She has her favorites and its mandatory to talk in front of the class with a final presentation other than that the class is real easy and would recommend

Dr.Smith is a wonderful instructor. She keeps the class engaged at all time. Because of her style of teaching she made me more interested in continuing a major in sociology. As long as you take her quizzes and study her slides you are guaranteed a good grade.

I recommend her She's a fun, chill teacher. She keeps the class engaged and she's funny. You don't need the textbook cause what she teaches you really sticks and her power points are really detailed. There are 2 test 2 quizzes each the class before the exam & a group project thats fun and easy. There are also several vocab clippings that are easy.

The class itself is very easy, but in a good way because you still learn a lot from her. 2 test, 1 group presentation, online quizzes, a couple in class quizzes and easy, manageable homework. Appears like she gives a lot of work but most of it is easy. Taking her again!

I've learned more in this class that I will learn in any other class. She truly makes you think about your life and your future. She helps you if you need anything, just see her after class. She is one of the best teachers in nova. She is really down to earth and chilled. There is not much to do, all you have to do is your part, make sure you take part in discussions and do your assignments on time. Her test are not very difficult. I just loved her class I learnt alot and is very interesting.

Her only two exams are very easy!! There is group proj. And few writing assignments as well as 8 quizzes. She is very nice and funny. Love her tests because it was easy however, you still need to learn the easy information slides. Take her she's good at teaching and treating her students with respect.

She was an amazing professor! There are only two exams and two quizzes in class. There are chapter quizzes throughout the semester, however, they are open notetake home, also you can take them as many times as you want until you get the perfect score. Only ONE group project and it's really fun-you have all semester to do it. SHE'S WORTH IT !!

EASY A. Show up. Do your online quizzes. Study those online quizzes for the test. Do your work (easy work) and you'll pass. Don't get lazy tho!!!! Even if you have enough points for an A in her grading system, but you don't do any clippings she wont give you the A!!!! All she wants is effort from you.

This class was amazingly fun! Professor Smith is fun and easy-going, she wants to be the professor that she wanted during school. There is one big group project which is a video mash-up. She does cover some topics which can start fights (like stereotypes and equality), so if you get easily offendedeasily angered it might not be the class for you.

She is so awesome! She is so down to earth and her lectures are not boring! You do need to participate in her discussions but it is fairly easy and is not awkward. She is very easy to talk to and is super funny! Do expect a group project. If you do all of the work you will easily pass, and there is not a lot of work at all.

Took the 8-week course with two (planned) quizzes, two tests, one large group project (easy), and a couple of small assignments. As long as you show up, silence your phone, and participate in the conversation then you will pass. She cares about her students & gives everyone the opportunity to take take part in discussions. Loved her class.

Love this lady decided to study soc after taking her class. 8 online quiz's 2 test 2 exams . just need to read the slides no need to bye a book and you will get a A . one group project and very easy H.w . lots of work cuz it 8 weeks but very easy and fun class very enjoyable not hard. highly recommend

Do the work that she assigns (not hard at all) don't get lazy! & make sure 2 participate because a portion of your final grade is attend/participation. Tests? You will know most of the questions beforehand and all are true-false and multiple choices. Quizzes? They are online and take as many times as you want. Lectures? It's quite long but it's an 8-week class though and the lectures are very engaging. Group project? only 1 and she would give everyone an A as long as it's finished.

This was a really easy class if you showed up and listened to what she was lecturing on. I didn't use the textbook or take notes but I still aced this class. There will be a lot of group activity on day to day basis including a massive group project at the end; but even that was fun. Overall Dr. Smith is a fun, young prof who just gets us.

Took her for my 1st 6 week summer session. Easiest class I have ever taken. Book was not needed. Quizzes that were directly related to the exams. You could even fail the exams and still get an "A" she offers so many ways to get an "A" She helped me a lot. If you skip a class its okay but try not to. Make sure you choose our group wisely for project

Professor Smith was fantastic. She's really funny and her class was always a blast. I didn't use the textbook at all and got an A. Lectures were pretty good. Professor smith makes her class enjoyable and fun, she presents power point slides in class and uploads them on black board, which is all you need to go through for your exams and quizzes. You might think that the syllabus is packed with assignments in the beginning but they are really just fun assignments that you don't have to worry about.

Dr. Smith is funny and engaging. She gives you very clear guild lines regarding what you need to do and you will learn about sociology . But I will say that this is probably the easiest A class I've taken at NOVA. If you don't get an A in this class, it's only because you didn't try.

Who ever wrote the bad review for her is delusional. Erica is an outstanding professor. She is hilarious yet very professional and well educated in sociology. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and would recommend anyone to take her. I will be receiving an A in her class and believe anyone can do the same. I didnt get the book her slides are great! :)

Shes honestly the best teacher I've hands down. Shes so funny and you actually want to go to class. Shes not easy by all means the test are difficult being that she does power points and usually just quickly goes over what is on the exam. Exams are 40 questions multiple choice some are from the online quizzes, and then 3 essay questions worth 10pts

she's a really cool lady and the class was fun. her lectures were discussion heavy so pretty much everyone got their own input on topics. the only tests are the midterm and final which you should do well on if you study a little.

Guys, take her, shes great, just make sure you show up to EVERY class because attendance/participation make up a huge amount of points. A lot of group work, and one big video project at the end of the semester which is basically free points. Has online quizzes that are due before each exam which you can take over for 10 points each.

Clearly passionate about teaching and really wants to see her students succeed, clear grading criteria, and makes learning fun and lecture entertaining. Everything that is on tests and quizzes is taught and really sticks because of the way she explains it. Come to lecture for points, do the homework, study a bit, and you'll easily have an A.

Best professor ever! I LOVED coming to Dr. Smith's class. It was super interesting. I'm usually the shyest person in the room, but you are expected to talk in front of class a couple times. Her powerpoints and online quizzes help a whole lot for the tests.

She's one of the most laid back professors, you have to come to class. You can participate or not as long as you do the quizzes you will pass the exams. Class was very funny and overall had a great experience.

She's funny and I think she handles her students well. There's one group project (video mashup) that I personally did not like, but that might just be me. No real final exam so that was cool. She takes attendance by putting down a paper sheet on her desk at the END of class - I think it's a dumb system, but oh well.

She is easygoing and funny. There are blackboard assignments with deadlines and she takes participation very serious. Throughout the semester you work with a group for a video mashup presentation that you present at the end of the semester. There were small group presentations sometimes and make sure to study all of her powerpoints for the exams.

She nice but you dont want to see the other side of her(: 3 tests which arent so bad as long as you study the Powerpoints. Participation is a MUST! Youll get a lower grade if you don't participate in class. 3 BB assignments which are easy and online quizzes. A group video project which I personally hated. Gives points for attendance. During the summer semester when I took this professor over the 8-week class, I loved her lectures and the assignments she gave us. The only exams were the Midterm and the Final. A fun video project but impossible to complete. However, the assignments due dates was inaccurate due to the short paced 8-week. Just show up to class and you will be great

The group project is not that horrible and time-consuming as everyone claims it to be. Yes, there are update hw regarding the process of your video, but thats to make sure youre where your suppose to be with the project. Basically free points. There are take home quizzes that give you unlimited retakes. Shes genuinely the best professor.

Prof Smith is a great choice if you need to take SOC. For an online semester, there was not too much work. You have weekly quizzes and a discussion board. Theres 1 project due at the end of the year. If you show up each week, participate, and do all the work correctly, youll get an A.

Social Problems Assignments 1 paragraph discussion boards and a big group project at end. Class structure: topic of the day, submit idea day before in discussion board, talk in class or use Zoom chat box Structure was supposed to be different. She asked how we wanted the structure to be at beginning of semester awesome!

Prof Erica allows students to choose social issues to create the syllabus. Lots of assignments, breakout rooms, discussion board, and participation will help you at the end with final grade. The Final is a group project, but each student gets graded individually based on their group participation/research. Submit work on time, you'll pass w/ an A+

I really enjoyed Professor Smith's class. The class involved alot of discussion and group interaction. She is helpful when you have questions and actually listens to her students. There were a few homework assignments, quizzes, and exams. The final group video project was intimidating, but ended up being alot of fun to do. I highly reccomend!

Soc 200 with Professor Smith was engaging/enlightening. So many topics were covered and she allowed open/honest discussions. Chapter quizzes can be retaken for a better grade. You also have the opportunity to redo assignments. To clarify previous review comments. She will assign a 0 & give you have an opportunity to fix your errors for full credit

Professor Smith is quite possibly the best Professor at the school. She is the type of professor that wants you to succeed. She sends reminders for important assignments and she understands life happens and she's so flexible and willing to work with her students to make things work. If you're even considering taking her class, do it.

i had prof. smith for 2 classes this semester, ive never left a review but i wanted to just for her!! she is so kind, open, and smart. she loves to share her personal experiences, and opens the class for discussion plenty. this class is honest, fun, and very mind opening. work is light and based on topics you care about, id love to have her again!

Professor Smith was without question the most caring professor I've ever had. She sent out frequent reminders of quizzes and such and I am so forgetful so I always appreciated that. She's fun and nice and so helpful and reasonable. She's a terrific professor and I cannot recommend her enough! She's terrific!

Lets get into some things chile, this is one of the easiest classes I have ever taken at NOVA. The quizzes are easy if your taking SOC 200 this class requires no textbooks, the final exam will be on a presentation which is easy. Professor gives multiple image assignments which are very easy and straight forward, she always sends out announcements

Great professor, respectful, easy, barely any assignments. But lectures make up for it because theyre interesting and engaging.

No quiz, no test, just 4 one page paper on social problems, few discussion bored, one midterm movie essay on social problems and one final video project. Give give good amount of time to do it. Highly recommended

She respects everyone's opinion, as it is an opinionative type of class. She had a youthful way about her that made the class feel light, but her youthfulness doesn't take away from the seriousness of the class. The material was very engaging and I had her for longer, but she took leave for sickness. She was very caring too when I was feeling sad

I took Professor Smith's class over Zoom during the summer. She was very kind and funny. Even in this smaller time frame, the workload was stress-free and her teaching made learning the material easy. No tests, just some presentations and papers. I kinda wish I took this class with her all year.

Dr. Smith's class was amazing! The lectures are engaging and fun. The workload is spread out so you don't feel overwhelmed and she gives great feedback and chances for re-submission. There are no words to even describe!! Coming to her class is best part of the day and she uses relatable things and uses us to teach us which I have never seen done by a teacher. I could see her as the teacher every student is friends is. If you're not trying in her class than I don't know what to say honestly.

I absolutely loved this class. Professor Smith was so sweet and truly amazing. She cares about her students and provided lot of information. The longest assignments given were the image assignments but they really weren't bad. I would definitely take her again.

Took this class back in Fall 2019 and had a friend take her in Fall 2020, we both loved her! She is by far the best professor in the entire NOVA Sociology department!!! Wonderful sense of humor which is refreshing mixed in with her interesting lectures. Won't deduct points if late to class, fair grader, and assignments/tests are clear. Take her!!!

This class was very fun and has many open group discussion sessions. This is an easy A and basic common sense. She is very nice but can come off as passive aggressive. Quizzes are taken at home, no exams, and only papers.

The group discussions were fun. Easy class. I agree with the other commentator, she can come off a little passive aggressive at times.

Wasn't too many projects which means you have to do really well on them, but if your personal and give a good effort you'll get a good grade. She is very funny but does take this personal so watch your words. That doesn't mean don't speak at all, participation is a big part of your grade, and she grades hard on that! Talk a lot you'll be fine!

The professor is very nice and caring; be sure to complete all of the assignments. Try to participate in the class discussions as much as possible, as it will be graded on overall class participation.

Dr Smith is hilarious, and the discussions we had in class were a lot of fun to engage in. She doesn't just read off the slides - she is warm, clever, and may single you out if you don't participate, but only so you can get the required participation points. She is pretty lenient with deadlines and there are lots of opportunities for extra credit.

Professor Smith is really caring and funny! There are no tests, only take home quizzes, assignments, and a final project. I learned so much about Sociology in this class. She really values participation, so make sure you add to the conversation or answer a question once a class at least.

I took her class online through zoom. She values participation and engaging in class discussion. The lectures + content are interesting! No big exams, just quizzes. Mainly writing assignments (nothing crazy), just show that you're applying what you've learned. Overall really manageable. Hoping to have her again in the future, she's great!
