teacher knows a lot about the subject but it is very boring.attendance is not mandatory and we never used the textbook.
Text book wasn't used but the handouts & online materials were extremely helpful. The overall environment of the classroom depends on the student?s involvement. The class is not set up for those who are lazy. There is no homework & your grade is based on 3 short tests. If you don't study, you will fail. Great class, plus the teacher is smoking hot!
Professor Tyler was a fun person and cherent teacher. She is young and full of energy and her expertise translates well to her classes. Fun, yes, however the class is difficult if students don't pay attention! :)
This professor gives the most interesting and humorous lectures I've ever heard. She is so smart and funny she kept the attention of all students in a 1:00 pm class. Not easy to do! I would recommend her class to everyone. The class goes by fast and you learn a lot!
After taking physical geo with pittman, who drew circles on the whiteboard every day...i was afraid to take a science class. I am so glad i choice anthro with prof tyler, she is SUPER interesting and makes learning fun. There's never a dull moment!! great class!
Very challenging class. Prof. Tyler is a good teacher, it's just a very difficult subject, unless you are very into it already. Tyler is young and relates well to the class. My advice is to go creative on the group project, avoid death by powerpoint.
Professor Tyler is awesome, probably one of my favorite teachers! She's young, funny, and very smart. And the subject is interesting! I do not like science but I loved this class and actually stayed after to talk to her sometimes. Recommendations: take good notes and no boring powerpoints for group presentation! (and there was a final study guide)
It's an ok class. It's only out of 280 points for the whole semester so you have to really study for the 2 exams and 1 final. I dont think she's great at posting grades, our group did a presentation over a month ago and its not in the grade book yet. She doesnt like power point presentations - but thats the only thing she ever does. hypocrite ?
Professor Tyler is a great teacher. She is fun and cares about what she is teaching. Anthroplogy is a fascinating subject, but just to warn you-group projects do consist of much of the class and YES, she does take a long time when grading-but that shouldn't alter your mind about taking her classes.
Professor Tyler is awesome, I looked forward to her class everyday. She's very clear and makes humerous analogies to help students understand the info. There isn't any hw, there are only tests and quizzes, which she prepares you really well for. She wants you to succeed and her passion for anthropology really makes her lectures easy to listen to
She'll try to convince everyone on the first day that she's a hard teacher but she isn't. She presents a good lecture, gives out chapter questions that will be helpful on tests, and gives hints as to what to expect on tests. There are only two tests and one final, no homework. There's a group project but other than that, Tyler is great.
Professor Tyler is pretty cool, but she grades super super slow. It's Jan 3rd and I still don't know what I got on my final project, final exam, or my overall class grade. I've known my grades in my other 7 classes for 2-3 weeks. This has been very disappointing/frustrating.
I took this class to fulfill the general education life forms requirement, but Tyler ended up giving my an interest in the field. Her lectures were usually pretty interesting and there was never any homework. You do need to do at least a little studying to get an A or B. For my science lab I'll definitely be taking Prof. Tyler for ANTH 301!
Definite fox. She is a rare find; funny and good looking. I didn't care too much about anthropology before but now I find it interesting. She has a great taste in music also. Relates to the class very well. Her lectures keep your attention. Pretty easy class.
Hot plus a really really good teacher really funny just have to do the work and take notes, will give u outlines for sections Super Hot
Teacher is super hot and funny while still being a great teacher. Just do all the online quizzes and you will pass for sure
She is amazing. Online final cant get much better =]. she gives you handouts for the lectures. Study those and you WILL ace the tests. The only hw you have is weekly quizes online. Easiest teacher and she is actually entertaining. Take her.
Very nice teacher. Took the class online and the first few quizzes/tests were fine, but it became difficult to find answers towards the end of the semester. Tests/quizzes arent timed, and quizzes have 3 attempts. definitely recommend this prof over the other anthro professors.
I had her in a large lecture hall so it was hard to have a person connection with her since Anthro is my major. Class was fairly easy. Do the online quizzes every week and study for the exams. Allowed notes for each exam and final was online. Gives a few extra credit assignments as well. Recommended, will be taking her 320 class in the fall.
I absolutely loved this class, pay attention and take good notes, you my be able to use them at some times. She is super nice and funny. Pay attention and take good notes and you will be just fine in the class. I never once used my textbook some did but I passed the class with high B's. So it's your call!
she's cool
She is hands down one of the most incredible teachers I have ever had. I had no interest in this subject but she is making it fun. She's so cute and fun and is a great teacher and really helpful. I would recommend you take her for every class you can! (:
The class consists of weekly online quizzes, daily lectures and an occasional movie. Professor Tyler makes you think about the subject. If you take good notes, come to class and pay attention and you'll pass.
She is by far one of the best professors at FLC. She's so nice and extremely helpful. Also makes class really fun to come to. Both the midterm and the final were online and very easy. I learned so much even though there wasn't any homework. She is awesome!
Great professor! It's an easy class as long as you listen, take notes, and do the quizzes. Exams were a little harder and she loves trick questions so be sure to read very carefully. She's funny too and likes to make quirky remarks to keep the class on their toes. She makes her lectures interesting.I highly recommend her, no slacking allowed though!
Very witty, and always keeps the class fun. On a random note: if you're a guy you will most likely pay more attention in this class.
MUST TAKE HER! Phenomenal teacher in every aspect! Always finds a creative way to make everyone laugh. The quizzes are superrr easy you get 3 retries on them, and a page of notes for exams. She always makes sure everyone understands all material. I'm a guy, but if you don't have a crush on her by the end of the semester something is wrong with you!
Very easy class. Tyler is a nice professor with a very reasonable work load. Only complaint was her occasional political tangent. Would take her again!
She is HOT! And a great teacher who will be happy to help you out with any troubles. Class is easy enough if you pay attention in lecture.
Professor Tyler is an excellent professor and one of the all-around smartest and funniest people I’ve ever encountered. She makes anthropology very interesting and will help students who show interest and visit her during office hours.
Enjoys her subject. A fun teacher. Energetic about teaching and her students. Did I mention, Suuuumoking hot. Great shoes!
Tyler was a great teacher, always random and fun and willing to shake things up. She taught well and always introduced great questions and kept us thinking. Very fun!
She is an AMAZING teacher. And even I being straight I have to admit she's hot. That put aside she is passionate about Anthropology. She also has a great sense of humor. Only complaint is that she is ALWAYS late...or doesn't show up with no notice. I would Still recommend her class to anyone!
Took the class expecting something different. Have had her before. Passionate, nice, funny, easy classes. But. She tends to be late or not show. Can be disorganized. Exams are simple if you understand the material, so buy the book if youre serious about the subject. Appreciate her passion about the subject though despite her flaws. Would recommend.
The best piece of advice i can give you: TAKE HER CLASS
I recommend this teacher because she is clearly obsessed with what she is teaching and always relates it to the real world and real life. She is usually always late to class and calls off class unexpectedly but other than that do all the quizzes on time and take notes each day and you will earn a high grade.
AWSOME TEACHER, SHE IS REALLY FUNNY AND EASY. ANTHROPOLOGY ISNT AN INTERESTING CLASS FOR ME BUT I DONT REGRET TAKING IT WITH AN AWSOME TEACHER LIKE HER. ONLINE QUIZES AND ONLY HAD 3 TESTS INCLUDING THE FINAL. SHE HAS POWER POINTS NOTES AND THEY ARE ALL ON D2L
Tyler is a great teacher. She kept 110 students who were not interested in the field of Anthropology interested in the class. She knows her subject so well and explains it very clearly and makes it easy to understand. You will learn a lot, and if you attend class regularly, you will have to do very little studying outside of class.
Tyler is hilarious! I loved her lectures because she would always add interesting or funny was of explaining things. A very memorable class! Not a lot of work and you can use a pg of notes on the exams.
Very easy class. The only time I ever touched the textbook was during the final exam because it was online. She allows a page of notes for exams. The quizzes are all online and you get three attempts. I missed at least five classes, but got full participation because she never takes attendance. She's very cool and makes lectures entertaining.
She was an average teacher. very knowledgeable in her subject and explained things well, but I expect that from any college professor. You can get by this class with minimal effort. She likes to insert irrelevant thoughts and stories to project an image she would like you to view her in. Lectures can be a drag to sit through
Easily my favorite teacher so far! Had her for a lecture and lab course. She's hilarious! Lectures were a breeze and really really fun. Even the lab was easy and she didn't force group activities. You should definitely take her class!! I don't think she takes attendance at all, either.
Great personality and super good looking. If you are a guy you will not regret taking this class.
She really is an amazing teacher. She has a clever sense of humor and is very interesting in her lectures. She really knows her stuff too. The class is an easy A if you show slight interest in the subject and actually attend her lenient attendance. Everything from the tests are straight from the study guides and quizes. Best class to take
Take notes from her lecture slides to answer the study guides she hands out. Test questions are from her study guides and quizzes. I didn't read the book. I did look up a few things in there but it's not necessary. She hands out quite a bit of extra credit. Lectures are pretty interesting and keeps you engaged. Do everything and you should get an A
Mrs. Tyler is by far my favorite professor I have ever taken at FLC. She made anthro very enjoyable and easy to understand. She prepares you very well for the tests just take note on the powerepoint all the test questions come from them. Shes pretty attractive which makes it easy to pay attention lol. She makes class fun, I highly recommend her.
The easiest teacher ever and pretty nice! . Recommend to take her if you want an easy A.
I took her online class. I meet her in person and she's really sweet. She really cares about DSP&S students. Very helpful and the tests and quizzes are really easy. Power points are helpful and so are the lectures. Also are the study guides. One of my very professors.
This was a hybrid class. Super easy weekly online quizzes that you can ace by using the textbook. Interesting lectures and hands on experiences with Archaeology. If you're looking for an easy A GE course, definitely take this class!
Not responsive to emails-I only emailed three times throughout semester; no responses. Issues with weekly quizzes not being posted (not a bad thing !) Watch her posted lecture videos and take notes. Exam questions are from the lecture/powerpoints. Quiz questions from the text. Quizzes/exams not timed. Offers extra credit. Easy, interesting class.
I love this teacher! Very easy quizzes because it's from the power points and the book. I would take her class again and again. Cares a lot about her students. Offers extra credit. Very easy class. I would recommend taking this teacher! Responds emails very fast.
I absolutely loved Erica! She was out for almost a month on leave so that was a bummer but he lectures are really fun and engaging. Her quizzes are easy, all online! I would highly recommend taking her!
Professor Tyler is a nice professor, very knowledgeable about Anthropology. I really learned a lot and enjoyed her class. However, she doesn't answer e-mails and she doesn't let students know when she doesn't show up. My class finished on February because i took the 8 first week class and until now 05/21/16, she did not post grades yet.
Erica is a wonderful person. I liked her a lot and she is so funny. However, she doesn't respond to emails at all and was gone for about a month so it got a little harder for us since we had a sub who went off track a bit. Overall, her class was good. I recommend her, but just make sure you take the quizzes. Tests are timed quizzes are not.
I really love Professor Tyler! Very helpful, sweet, and very clear on her lectures. The tests and quizzes were very easy. I took her online class. I really enjoyed her online class and enjoyed watching her lectures. I'm a DSPS student and she really took the time to make sure I understood the lectures. I recommend taking this teacher!!
I took Tyler's online Anthro 300 class, was not the best class. She had a sub for us for a whole month, took a long time grading assignments, and did not put a lot of effort into her online class. The quizzes did not correspond with the chapters, and test were very random. Maybe in class she is great but stay away from her online class.
It was easy if you follow the syllabus and watch the weekly class recordings. She gives you a template to follow each chapter and those questions are on the weekly quizzes. The best thing about her online class is that you are not forced to reply to other students weekly discussion posts. The only complaint is her lack of communication and grading.
Do not take her online class!! She posts almost every assignment late and takes forever to grade anything. She is terrible at responding to people with questions! I would not recommend her. Other than that it's an easy online class. Just read the textbook.
I only had an A in this class because I contacted her through the phone; any other method and she doesn't responds. Her Grading is very tough, but if you hit gold and write about a topic she likes, she will give an A. The Tests were on questions on specific facts and one-liners in the book, so you need to read carefully. Call her if you want an A.
I took Professor Tyler's 8 week hybrid. The class was graded entirely on the online work. and discussions every week. All of he answers to every quiz or online or in the book. If you keep up with the course work you will get an A. I highly recommend taking her!
The online class is great and easy. Every thing is clear and organized. Easy tests and discussions. However Prof Tyler does not respond to you which is frustrating especially when trying to get a hold of her. She also took a very long time grading. Although the class is an easy A, if you have an important question; don't expect her to respond.
Took the 8-week hybrid course for this class, the work was tedious at times but if you do it then it is an easy A. Lots of quizzes but they aren't that difficult. Make sure you participate in the discussion boards!
Took her online anthro300 class, it was very organized and predictable. Discussions were clear and there were a few short videos to watch a week and one Inquisitive, which could take a couple hours but is worth it since nothing else takes up too much time. Strongly recommend the online class if anthro isn't your major.
Had her 8 week hybrid class. Don't really need the book, there are a couple of short quizzes everyweek on Canvas and a lot of hw assignments on Inquizitive but they're easy (can be taken them multiple times). Only takes attendance the first few weeks, just keep up w/ the work online. Don't miss the online assignments and it's a super easy A!
Took her online class, which means that she is entirely hands off. She didn't grade anything until the end of the semester, so it is hard to know if you did well. The class is easy and the tests are easy, just use common sense or textbook to figure out. She did tell us that she was busy with in class students... Like us online did not want feedback
Took her in class anthropology course. Shes pretty funny and wants you to learn! Quizzes are online and easy to pass. Overall an interesting class and I'd recommend taking her if you need a science class for transferring.
Tyler is awesome! She cracks a few jokes then and there. She really knows anthropology. A little bit of the content in the course is hard to understand, but not all of it.
I had Professor Tyler for anth300 in person and now anth320 online. Both classes were very straightforward, the 320 class is a little bit more work because there is a final project. She is very caring, only downside to her classes is that sometimes modules won't work properly on Canvas. Good choice for both anthropology majors and non-majors
She was a funny and supportive teacher. 10/10 would take her class again
all you really have to do is your online homework/material. she lectures in class but there is no classwork/midterm/final because it was an 8 week course. really easy to understand material
Erica Tyler is one of the best professors I have encountered. Her lectures are entertaining and clear. She is capable of keeping the attention of the class and stimulating participation without forcing people to speak, which is a unique talent. She is clearly vastly overqualified for her position. I will be taking more of her classes.
Her class is all quizzes, nothing else. So if you have access to a source where finding answers to those quiz questions is easy *wink wink* than your going to do great. Only negative is that she waits till last minute to enter the grades that need to be entered manually.
Great course, no complaints! She keeps everything straightforward, no surprises. Uses Inquizitive ($20 if you have a used book) for bulk of the assignments which keeps the material interactive and fun. Watch a few videos weekly, which are a 1-3 mins in length with video quizzes to follow - super straightforward. Chapter quizzes - no midterm/final.
Great prof who does great lectures and she is pretty too. Clear grading criteria and the grades are updated weekly.
NO extra credit. hard tests. Cannot review tests. Not enough time to do tests.
Really interesting class with really cool lectures that were pretty funny at times. Weekly quizzes that are super easy, with questions easy to find. I really recommend her. Also, she needs to drop her hair care routine...
I recommend Prof. Tyler's class! It is very straightforward with the same assignments due weekly. Assignments include reading, a recorded lecture, a hw assignment, and weekly quiz. You can tell that Prof. Tyler is very passionate about what she's teaching and makes lectures interesting. Study and you can do well!
Great online class, super organized and grading criteria is clear. Every week there is usually 1-2 lecture videos to watch (which are actually pretty entertaining), some chapter reading, one inquisitive and a quiz. Midterm and final. Straightforward and easy A. If you need to take ANTH choose her!
Her pre-recorded lectures are pretty entertaining to watch. The homework program she uses (inquisitive) is pretty easy and you can complete the homework as you learn the material. Fairly simple class, plenty of opportunity for extra credit.
Very knowledgeable of her subject. pretty simple class, easy A. lots of reading though. 2 quizzes a week, midterm and final. her online discussion videos are entertaining and she makes it easy to understand. would take again.
I really enjoyed this class. I took it online and it was fairly easy, the only thing being a large amount of memorization. There is some textbook reading but not fully required to pass. The tests covered all material so can't really skip on anything. Long lectures but overall great class, easy class if you do the work, wonderful prof.
This class is very hard for no reason, so many assignments and so much work each week. There are like 10 assignments due on Saturday consisting of multiple chapters, not focuses on one section. Crazy amount of work.
Was rude responding to my emails when I greeted her and asked for clarification regarding an assignment. Overall, it's about 2 hours of lectures each week, 1-2 long chapters that she provides from a free online textbook, and 1 quiz. Lots of material/assignments are minimal though. Did offer extra credit! Did not really stand out to me as a teacher.
This professor is great, but don't take her online. All you do is read, listen to a lecture, and answer a quiz. That's it. She is passionate for the subject, I liked the lectures, but I needed something more than PowerPoint slides to understand several concepts. It's easy, but not engaging. I wish I took her class in-person. I still recommend her.
The best thing about this class is no discussion posts to other students. I loved not having to deal with anyone in class (or the professor for that matter). Just show up and do your work and move along. The worst thing was just information overload, but the lectures, extra learning resources, and inquisitive helped to digest it all. Great Class!
Solid prof with it being similar each week - a longer quiz, assignment, and lecture/reading. There are no discussions (only extra credit ones) which was nice but the reading is pretty long every week. The lectures, although recorded professionally, don't always align completely with the book. The structure was nice even if it was mostly self-taught
Professor Tyler's recorded lectures were really entertaining and interesting. Easy assignments and quizzes. Overall, I highly recommend taking her class!
Great class, it was very organized and expectations were very clear. The lectures are interesting, there are extra credit opportunities, and the workload is pretty small.
