Feel like I would have done better if course wasn't micromanaged by the dept. Prof. Y is very smart, helpful, and does everything out step-by-step. Biggest issue was with how UML runs the dept. HW problems much easier than what is on the exam. She is a great professor, and wish UML would let professors run their courses more.
Great first year professor. She was a little shaky at first, but turned out to be a great teacher. I was put in her Calc 1A class after never even taking precalc. There is quite a bit of homework, but it is for your benefit. She is really interested in helping you do the best you can and learn the information.
She's an awesome professor loves her job really makes a good learning environment. Very far with grading and love to help if you have any questions.
Favorite maths teacher in my life. She's the nicest and friendliest professor, just ask her questions in class if you need help and she'll be happy to help. Getting an A is not very easy, but it is possible. You just have to listen in class, take notes, finish all your homeworks, and study the revision she gives before an exam.
Great professor. She really cares about her students. However she does follow the rules. I did terrible on my 2 midterms but somehow pulled a passing grade. I would advise against taking Calc 1a and 1b in the first place but if you have to, take it with Ms. Yankowskas
I'm in calc 1 and would highly recommend her. Very good professor and actually cares about her students.
She's awesome! very nice and has a positive attitude. Best calculus teacher
She is an awesome teacher and really cares about your grade in the class. She actually gets sad when the class does bad and will go over something a thousands times until you get it right. She is also really pretty too.
She really cares about her students. She will do everything she can to make sure you pass and get as much credit on everything that you possibly can. Take her. Some lessons get confusing but if you pay attention and don't talk in class she will always help you out. Very nice and friendly. GO to her office hours, it really helps with the quizzes.
Energetic and loves mathematics. Has weekly quizzes to make sure you are understanding the material. Homework is online but you need to turn in the work. Breaks topics down and is easy to understand.
Awesome professor! I took her night precalc course (she said it was her first time teaching a night class). She is very enthusiastic and engaged which I thought made class go by fast. Extremely pleasant lady!
Loves her job and will ALWAYS help you and will answer any homework question. She HATES students talking during class, even if it's a whisper. Something to save you some money: if they're using Pearson My Math Lab for homework, you don't need the text book. The online key you can buy separately will give you access to the textbook digitally.
Erica is a superb Calculus professor. I took the same class with another professor last semester and had to withdraw because I was completely lost. Erica quickly cleared up all the cobwebs and explains everything perfectly. She's one of my favorite professors since I've started here. She's also really cute.
The nicest Prof. I have had this semester. She is very nice and always has a smile oh her face in class. She has reasonable office hours but she seems to cancel them or change them often. Her homework load is very reasonable and she often gives us extra time to complete the assignment if she feels we are not prepared for it.
Professor Yankowskas makes math really fun. Her lectures are based on the textbook, and she explains the material really well. Weekly quiz and exam questions are taken from material covered in class and in the homework. Study hard, DO THE HOMEWORK, and you'll do well. She offers extra credit on every quiz and test. Great prof!
Professor Yankowskas was so enthusiastic about Calculus that I was hard not to pay attention. She takes many questions from students and addresses them during the class and really cares if everyone is on the same page. She does expect a lot of effort back though, so be prepared, she gives you very hard questions in class so you're set for tests.
helpful teacher but makes you work for your grade.
All homework is due on the day of the exam. If you do all the MML she adds 5 whole points to your final grade. Makes quizzes significantly harder to prepare you for exams. Pay attention, go to every class, TAKE HER NOTES. She has awesome handwriting and lectures. She is very clear, she works on tougher examples in class. Wish she taught Calc 2.
Half the class was retaking the course. Pushes through material too fast for questions during lectures.
Half the class was retaking it. Goes through material too fast for questions.
The way she teaches is amazing. From day one I just felt like she was shoving knowledge into my brain. She usually instantly knows the answer to any question asked and will write out the problem, step-by-step, at an incredible pace while still maintaining good handwriting and clarity. Go to class, keep up with the work and you'll do fine.
Awesome Teacher! Most enthusiastic person I've ever met. But one HARD grader. Quizzes and tests are never anything like what you practice.
She is a wonderful teacher, pretty cute as well. As a student she doesn't bore me at all, she is a great teacher. She writes slowly without speeding through the board, which allows all students to follow through. She asks questions to students to ensure if they are getting it. She also is very interesting when it comes to emails. I'd have her agin
Honestly, i didnt pass her class because I had a lot of personal problems but shes amazing. She explains things well and is always in a good mood and will encourage you. Youre just not a number in a seat, she cares about your success. Shes tough, but you get the grade you deserve. Always there to help you. Gives lots of problems. Very nice.
Very good teacher. Works at a slow pace which is good if you aren't as strong in math. Breaks things down and is eager to help. Very nice. Do the work and study for the exams.
Professor Yankowskas is absolutely an invaluable asset to this school. She turns calculus into something easily digestible and comprehensible. Be prepared to take notes as she writes so many, so quickly that she frequently breaks to take a breath and wipe the sweat from her brow, which is fine my me because she's beautiful and a pleasure to watch.
Honestly Professor Y is one of the best college professors I have ever had. She truly cares whether you understand the material and WANTS you to ask questions until you get it right. She will work with you to make sure you understand. Very competent and very sweet and nice as well. A MUST TAKE professor!!!! She will help you understand!
Seriously, just stop looking up calc professors and TAKE THIS CLASS. She is an amazing teacher who writes very clearly and basically sets up notes on the board for you. She does a ton of practice problems and will do homework questions whenever. Quizzes every monday are easy and she grades them generously. 10/10 SHE'S THE BEST.
She is a great teacher. Pretty cute too. She really cares about her students and writes/talks clearly
Best professor
Professor Y is on of the best for Calc 2. She is always enthusiastic about the topics and really cares that they are clear/understandable to everyone. She sets up notes on the board and goes at a pace that allows everyone to fully understand everything she is saying. Provides lots of examples and goes through whatever problems you want. Love her!
Best teacher I've ever had. Makes one of the hardest calculus classes breathable. Weekly quizzes and four tests total but all manageable as long as you don't miss a class and take detailed notes. Very accessible for help outside of class as well, makes special effort to know your name and encourage you to pursue mathematics.
She is the best teacher for Calculus 2. Always cheerful and keeps the class energetic. Easy quizzes and is always glad to help. Do not think twice, just take her class. She emails her notes and does not take attendance.
I failed her class but I still love her. that says something.
I started this class out hitting a few rough patches. She was really the reason why I got my grade up. She offers good explanations, grades your papers with details, and is always, always, always there for feedback. I'd take any class of hers. Work hard and you'll succeed.
Truly an awesome professor. I had her for Pre-Calc and I am 100% awful at all math. She was clear, helpful especially when I needed the assistance. I took this online. The final is proctored online via ProctorU if you are not able to make it to campus. I am the worst tester and bombed the final but after explaining this to her she still passed me.
Could not recommend any higher if you put in the time she will go out of her way to help you
She is easily the best professor I've ever had, I took her online Pre-Cal. Whenever I asked her a question she would send back a detailed explanation and even wrote the questions out and scanned them for me to understand the steps. She definitely goes the extra mile for her students. You won't regret taking a class with her on or offline.
Prof. Y is easily my favorite teacher ever. Her enthusiasm made a tough course really enjoyable. This class was challenging and but totally doable if you work hard and take her advise.
Erica does a wonderful job with her lectures. They include everything you need to know for the current topic at hand. There are several opportunities for extra credit submitting your HW in for grading and on bonus test questions. She gives great feedback and is inspiring with her kindness. Take the class, don't be afraid. It isn't that bad online!
Never had such an amazing math professor. She made math make SENSE! I truly appreciated her little pep talk notes within the class notes. She is the perfect example of what it means to be a supportive, inspirational teacher. Highly suggest her course!
Without her, I would have definitely flunked Calc 2. Calculus 2 Is known to be one of the hardest classes to pass nationwide, which it is, but Professor Yankowskas takes her time and has a lot of patience with her students. Although she gives a large amount of homework, its all for good reason. Definitely the one to choose for Calculus!
Taking Prof. Y for Management Pre-Calculus is hands down the BEST decision you can make as a freshman business major here at UML. Her weekly quizzes include lots of extra credit. She sends out lots of e-mails and although they are lengthy, they are hilarious. She really cares about her students, and breaks down concepts pretty easily.
TAKE HER! She's just not only generous with grading, but an excellent professor. Very accessible outside of the classroom. She cares about her students. She gives take home quizzes every week that are usually over the weekend, and are due the next class. She is very flexible with due dates on MML hw. Attendance impacts your grade.
Amazing professor. My favorite teacher. She is so motivated and hard working to help the class learn mathematics. I got an A in Calculus 2. I put in a lot of effort and I got the results. She gives extra credit on everything, though it is not always easy. She brightens up the class with positivity and is really engaging. A+++ professor. Take her.
10/10 professor, always very energetic and jumps at the opportunity to help
The GOAT
Energetic, loving, and actually cares about your learning. Highly, highly recommend her as a teacher!!! Thank you!!!
The best professor at UML, I love Calculus because of her! Kind, intelligent, everything that a teacher should be! Do yourself a favor and just sign up for her class!
Literally the best prof I've had at UML. She doesn't get paid enough, if you somehow fail her Calc 3 class, it's your fault, she makes it so easy to understand and is a super easy grader.
great prof
Excellent professor. Quizzes every week and all quiz questions are ones that you have gone over in class or ones that were on the HW assignment for the particular section. Post PDF of notes for every section she goes over and also post practice exams for every exam that are very useful. She gives you everything you need to get an A.
I was nervous about this class but professor Yankowskas goes above and beyond to help you understand the material especially if you ask for the help. Would definitely take a course with this professor again and would seek her out if given the option for classes.
Professor Y is an amazing professor. I didn't put forth the effort needed to do well in Calc 2 with her, and thought I had tarnished my reputation with her. I'm finishing up Calc 3, and have learned that if you need help, go see her. She has been incredible in extra help, and really cares that you do well in her class. I highly recommend her class.
She is amazing! I was terrified of this subject matter (PreCalc) but her enthusiasm is contagious. Her class ended up being my favorite. She is always there to help and responds to emails quickly. Her weekly chats are very helpful and easy to understand. All quizzes and exams are fair, she wants to see you succeed!
Prof Y is super caring and passionate: will break things down to the bare bones if needed. She gets excited about students being excited about math. Also very accessible and approachable.
Took her for Calc I and am taking for Calc II. Gives you everything you need to do well--posts her notes on blackboard after class, hints at test and quiz questions if you show up to class. Very understanding and kind person. Easy to follow her teaching. Unlimited tries on math lab.
Best math professor I have had. She knows her material and has notes carefully prepared. If you have trouble go see her and talk to her. She will try her best to work with you. Go to office hours, take notes, try your best and you will pass. She is very caring and charismatic. Beware the final, compared to everything else it is harder.
Had her for Calc 2. An excellent teacher, a true master of the subject. Probably the best math professor I've had at UMass Lowell, and I'm now in Diff EQs.
Prof Y is the best math instructor I have ever had. She is passionate and really cares that each student does well. Provides countless example problems for in and out of class. 10/10 would recommend.
Prof. Y is one of the best professors at UML. She is extremely kind and cares about her students. She wants to make sure that you can understand the material! Online lecture notes are easy to follow, weekly quizzes (4-5 questions). She also emails back quickly and is extremely helpful! Homework is extra credit. Individual feedback on exams!
The greatest
10/10 best mathematics professor I've ever had. Her lectures consisted of proofs/theorems coupled with examples. Very straightforward and the first time math has 'clicked for me'. She also answered any questions outside of class with thoughtful & thorough videos/responses. I really recommend her if you have the chance to take her. She loves math!
I left school in the middle of 10th grade, so my math was out of practice. I was nervous but Professor Y is amazing, she is quick to respond to emails and any questions. You need to put the work in, I was doing math every day to ensure I was understanding. She is so positive, which helps with confidence in feeling like you are capable of learning.
The beacon of hope in a cold STEM world
She is a very caring person and always made all of the lectures very engaging. All of the homework transitioned very well to the tests. I do wish some more integration techniques were used other than U-substitution, but that is the only thing I can come close to negative. I would recommend anyone take her class.
This is my second class with Prof Y. She's an amazing professor and I'd take her for everything if I could. Her lectures are a little heavy, but extremely helpful. She will make herself available to help you as best as she can. She is super enthusiastic about what she teaches and clearly loves it. Definitely take her if you have the chance!
Second semester with her and she is 1000% the best professor I had. Lectures keep you engaged, posted notes are incredibly helpful, grades fairly with good feedback on what went wrong, and if that's not enough, she will do anything to help you through email. Even through the online transitioning, she made it like nothing got harder. 100/10 prof tbh
She is an amazing professor if you have the opportunity to take her do it. She writes a lot of notes so be prepared but she explains everything so clearly. There is always some hidden bonus points on the tests so pay attention to the ways to check your work. I wish I could take her for every math class.
not bad. pretty lecture heavy and goes a tad fast. i lowkey died finishing the mml hws though.
Prof. Y is excellent. She is very enthusiastic in her lectures and truly cares about student success. Prof. Y is considerate and understanding and is very accessible outside of class. Homework for this class is well thought out and meant to help you improve. Tests and weekly quizzes were very clear and manageable in difficulty. Overall-exceptional!
Prof. Yankowskas goes above and beyond most online professors. If you ask a question, she will do everything to help you understand, even out of chat sessions. She records a tutorial on a topic if you need it and I've never seen that before. It's a lot of work to try and really understand everything but she's on your side.
Took her for calc 3 online, and she was really great. Lecture videos were up on youtube and all the notes were colorful and neat. Really helpful when I emailed about a question.
Had her for Calc 3. She is very enthusiastic and passionate in all of her lectures, and she truly goes above and beyond to make sure all of her students are on track and are able to do well in her class. It's not an easy class, but as long as you're willing to put in the work, she will do anything she can to help you do well in her class.
Professor Y is the nicest and most cheerful professor I have had. I had her for calc 3 and have already registered for another one of her courses. She was extremely considerate and understanding when grading exams, even giving hidden bonus points for things such as fully simplifying an answer or showing clean work. Quick to respond to emails too
This woman is an angel sent from heaven by the mathematical gods.
Pre-Calc was really rough for me and my first test I got a 30. I asked Prof Y for help and used tutors and she was extremely responsive and encoraging to me. If it weren't for her guidance I would have never passed this class and I cannot believe that I endied up with a B. I couldn't possibly more confident in reccomending a professor!
Professor Yankowskas was very nice and understanding, maybe a little too much. She made class optional and provided pre-recorded videos, which made it easy to fall behind. However, she is a great teacher and is always looking to help.
Best math teacher at UML. Her notes are extremely organized and she has lecture videos for every topic. There was a textbook change, so the notes she posts weekly don't align perfectly with Linear I, but her fresh class notes make up for that. She gives plenty of partial credit, and really wants you to do well. Take her whenever you can.
Best calc prof. Her notes are extremely detailed and the exams all have problems directly taken out of her chapter notes. Gives more partial credit than even deserved. The only complaint is I didn't feel prepared enough for the final. The material is taught very well, but the department final just seems so foreign compared to what we're used to.
Professor Y was easily the best professor I've had at UML. If you show up to her class and write down the practice problems she gives you the exams will be a breeze. She gives extraordinary amount of resources for students to learn the material from practice exams, YouTube videos, and office hours. I cannot say enough good things about her.
Prof Yank is an amazing professor, probably the best I've ever had. She takes time to make sure she answers everyones questions completely, and really cares about each student's well being. She has such great energy and her smile is contagious. She is a math angel. So grateful that I got to take her class.
An amazing prof that gives you all the tools to succeed, but you really need to be motivated to do well in the class. Be sure to do well on the mid-term exams, as the final will definitely bring down your grade, especially if you have other harder classes to worry about.
AMAZING PROFESSOR TO THE MAX. My only complaint though is that we don't feel a sense of urgency when all the homework is due on the same day as the exam. Plenty of resources and almost impossible to fail.
She's a really nice person and teacher, but the subject in general is pretty boring and lack-luster. Little to no homework and quizzes are pretty easy.
She's nice and is readily available outside of class time for questions but Calc3 is just really hard if you're not the best at math. No open notes on exams either which just adds to the difficulty. Lots of memorization required for tests. She often goes over example problems that are pretty similar to test problems, do good on hw and you will pass
I had Prof. Y for Discrete Structures I (MATH 2190), Linear Algebra I (MATH 2210), and she helped me with Calculus III (MATH 2310). She is unequivocally one of the best math professors. She will go above and beyond in her lectures and assist you with anything (Office Hours). She is understanding and caring of students and wants success. 170/100.
A very nice professor. She goes above and beyond to provide material to help you succeed. She puts a lot of energy into her lectures, and she clearly enjoys math. Her class was very structured and easy to follow because of all the material she provides.
One of the best UML has to offer. Take her for this class (or any class) if you can. She goes above and beyond to make sure students understand the material. Easily accessible outside of class and is always in a good mood. Every quiz date was established in advance and there are no surprises on the quiz. Lots of extra credit available.
One of the best professors I've ever had. Gives good feedback, provides a lot of notes. Go to her if you feel like struggling and she will 100 % fix the problem.
Great professor. Had her for Discrete I, she is very caring and is interested in seeing each individual student succeed. She is accessible outside of class and will respond to emails in a timely manner. Final grade is 70% quizzes and 30% final (but drops lowest 2 quizzes). Attendance not mandatory but I'd recommend it. Gives examples in class
Pre-calculus after 32 years of taking any Math! Wednesday office hours where we practiced together, amazing tutorial videos which are part of the weekly learning, online software for all the assignments, spent 6-10 hours each week on practice assignments, the teacher was just phenomenal, best college professor I ever had!
This was a great online math course! Prof Yankowskas goes the extra mile to make sure her students have what they need for success in the course, her lecture material was great. It was engaging, easy to understand (as easy as precalculus can be), and well organized. She obviously really cares about her students!
She is so nice and her lectures are extremely good. Her exams are very fair and she offers extra credit. She's the best prof to have for calc 3. Highly recommend.
Grading was inconsistent and the third exam is grade is always extremely low compared to the others dropping your grade significantly.
Prof Y goes above and beyond for her students. I have never had an easier time understanding math. She tells us exactly what we need to study to succeed and is the most caring professor you could ever have. If you get the chance to take her course, do so without hesitation. We need more professors like her.
EASILY Best prof at UML!!! Absolutely loved her. Her youtube videos are also very helpful. Lectures are also easy to understand if you pay attention. Take her!! Wish she taught linear algebra :(
Prof Yank is an amazing math teacher who makes the tough material digestible. While Calc 3 isn't a breeze, her engaging lectures and commitment to student success make it manageable. I found Unstuckstudy a great supplemental resource for study prep alongside the textbook.
She explains things well and I feel like I barely had a hard time with most calc2 topics because of her. Very sweet too, highly suggest taking her if you can
Professor Y is, without a doubt, the best teacher I have ever had. She makes lectures interesting and easy to follow along with, and she explains any questions you might have through examples. She is kind, considerate, and understanding, and taking Calc II with her made an arguably difficult class very easy.
Prof Y is the best professor i've had. she is an amazing, caring person who wants you to succeed. she does step by step, highly detailed lecture videos and notes in a way that makes grasping difficult topics more easy to digest. if you can solve the quizzes, you will do amazing on the exams as there's no surprises. she's truly a blessing, love her!
Professor Y was awesome. Had her for an asyncronous calculus 3 class over the summer but she was still extremely easy to reach and engange with. Her video lectures were really helpful and good at breaking down difficult material. And her online office hour sessions were awesome for exam and quiz prep.
Prof Y is the best professor I've had. She is an amazing, caring person who wants you to succeed.
She's amazing, very clear on all aspects of what to expect, and what's expected. More than willing to help on everything. Excellent lectures and videos. Fair grader, inspires you to do well. Would gladly take her again. Exams and hw are easy because she clearly goes over the work necessary so you succeed
Best Professor I had so far at UML! She is very supportive and is always there by email or office hours she is a saint for all the students. Weekly quizzes are based on material learned in class
This teacher is AMAZING!!!!!!!! She explains everything perfectly and she does it a many times as it's needed to help. If I could, I would have her as my math teacher until the end of my studies.
