You cannot understand a WORD he says... Do not take him unless you want to teach yourself. His accent is way too strong, everyone in my class was left saying "huh???"
I had a good experience. He was very fair. If you take him you much read to pass his test. He does have an accent but understandable. He does not mind you asking him to repeat himself due to his accent. He wants you to understand. I enjoyed the class and he pushed me to do my best. I thank him for that!!!
Good instructor.very smart gentleman and makes you think. He gives many clinical correlations that make you like A&P.He is tough but very fair.Has an accent bue he is understandable and always ready to explain many times if one doesn't understand.I learned alot from his class
Great instructor. His accent is strong and takes a little getting used to. He is extremely smart, very helpful and fair. If you read the assigned texts and follow his notes and study guides you can get a good grade in his class. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He was one of my best instructors yet!
Professor Elung is very intelligent and fair. I have had far worse professors out there...and I think his expectations are realistic and achievable. I never had a problem understanding him, and I enjoyed his dry wit. I would recommend him.
He is very smart, you will learn a lot. He is not as "hard" as people complain. All you need to do is read the book and you will know everything on the exam. He expects a lot of independence from his students so don't expect to be pampered at all. It is easy to make an A in his class - his exams are clear. Reading the book is KEY!
HE IS NOT "HARD" AS PEOPLE STATED. HE DOES KNOW A & P STUDY YOUR MATERIAL PROVIDED TO YOU AS YOU WILL DO FINE. "A" IS HARD TO GET IN HIS CLASS. ACCENT IS STRONG BUT HE WILL REPEAT AND CLARIFY.
He is a good teacher, knows his stuff. He also has a juicy bubble-like behind that is nice to stare at when he's writing on the board. GIRLS YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!
very helpful and try to help the students pass the class. but A&PII is hard and alot of studing is required.
Professor Elung is awesome! He made A&P great. He cares, he is smart and very willing to help. I can't say enough good things about him. What a great teacher!!!I will miss him.
Do yourself a favor and take Prof Elung. He is extremely clear, doesn't pull tricky stuff and is an excellent teacher.
A very good instuctor.Very smart and takes the pain to make students understand the stuff. He has an excellent mastery of A&P.His correlation of the material to real life situations are very helpfull and motivating to the student.I highly recommend him.
Good professor at breaking things down so you understand the concepts. However, he does not test on concepts making attendence mandatory. He will go over small insignifacant things that are sure to be on a lab practical. This in my opionion keeps many from making great grades on what should otherwise be the easier part of this class.
Dr. Elung is a WONDERFUL professor and really wants his students to do well. You do have to work hard. I took him for lecture and lab and made an A. He really knows his stuff and makes the class relevant. I learned SO much from Dr. Elung! You do have to read the book and put in the time and effort. If you do this you should make an A!
I took this prof because he got "great" reviews on this site. But he is very difficult to understand, and he doesn't TEACH when you have a question, he only responds with another question, wasting my time and frustrating me! The only way I have in A, is bc I have to teach myself, he'd rather just show a video
He is very difficult to understand. His accent is very thick. He will get confused if you ask him questions. He miss marked an answer on a test and would not give credit for those who put the correct answer. Do not take this professor. Also, he will look at you like you are stupid if you ask a question he cant answer.
The best 2402 professor in Preston ridge campus. Very knowledgeabe, helpful and respectful.I learned alot. I would recommend him.
VERY NICE TEACHER, YES HE IS A BIT HARD TO UNDERSTAND, HOWEVER HE DOES GIVE EXTRA PTS, HE CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS PASSING, ALSO HIS TEST ARE MC AND EASY.LAB WAS A BREEZE, PRACTICALS WERE VERY SIMPLE AND STRAIGHT FORWARD.
This professor manages his time poorly and wastes students time. He actually recommended me to drop the class. His reviews entail to "know everything" with no direction. He assumes his students to know what he does and looks down on those who do not. I would not take him again.
Lectures directly out of book, but tests are not really. Tests have some very easy questions and some very not-so-easy ones as well. Expects you to know material well enough to figure out questions (not just memorize material) so more studying is needed. He speaks well but can be hard to hear.
Great professor! Really cares about students learning. If you pay attention in class, tests should be ok...but not easy. Expects you to know ALL info. Practicals are very straight forward. Professor will answer any questions and help you to better comprehend material.
He genuinly wants his students to fail. He will tell the class the test will not include certain material and it will be on the exam. Dont bother talking to him about how to succeed in his class because will do the opposite of what he tells you. If you care about your future in the Medical field DO NOT take him
He is very smart, helpfull and kind. But you have to study hard to pass his test.He gives extra points in each test.
I think he's one of the best lab instructors I've had although his accent took some getting used to. His exams are NOT easy, and you have to study hard for them. But, he doesn't try any trickery and gives you everything you need to know in class. If you go to class and study, you should do fine.
honestly this class is an easy A for A & P 2 if you put some effort to it. His lab practicals are straight forward if you go to lab he tells you what will be on the test when he does his reviews. His lectures are boring but the test are the powerpoint and he highlights some areas of interest where you can read in the book. Overall he is GOOD!
Prof Elung is an excellent teacher, and sincerely wants his students to do well. A&P is a hard subject. You need to study his power point slides and read the book. Prof Elung is extremely fair with his grading. If I had another instructor, I probably would not have made an A.
He is a very hard professor! He is very hard to understand. Tests are extremely hard!! He gives no extra credit and gives you no chance but a cummulative very hard final to bring up your grade.
Difficult to understand, but extremely patient. Will take the time to clarify. Fair on grading...if you obviously get the idea and misspell a word he will still give partial or full credit.
An excellent professor. Knows the material and is very willing to help you understand. Attend his lectures regularly and you will do fine. He doesnt just teach you the material he helps you apply it to the Medical field. Highly, highly recommend this professor!
Dr. Elung: one of the best profs! Keys to doing well: know Power Points well, study concepts, instead of minutia, use text only to clarify & for ref. Attendance, a must; generous hints on exam q's. Many xtra credit chances. Grading, fair. He really cares about his students. Lectures, very interesting! Tests, challenging, but very doable. Got an A.
He is a good professor and knows the subject very well. His lab is very direct
Had Dr. Elung for lab. Very direct and gives extra credit on each practical. Gives about 12 quizzes and only takes 8. Started off thinking he was going to be stern and not particularly friendly, but once we got to know him he was so cool! Taking him for lab & lecture for 2402 if that says anything!
took him for lab. he's hard, but then again every a&p teacher is. He's fair, really nice, and wants his students to do well. His accent is hard to understand but i swear you will be a pro at deciphering it a few weeks in. quizzes, lab reports, practicals.. plenty of grades to do good. study and pay attention and there's no need to worry! take him!
Took him for summer I. He's a fair grader and tells you exactly what you need to know for the test. Has 12 quizzes but only takes the highest 8. Overall, I liked him a lot and would definitely recommend him!
took him for a&p lab. yes he's hard to understand but you get use to it after about 2 weeks.. very sweet, and funny.. genuinely wants his students to do well... wrote a letter of recommendation for me for the surg tech program. make an effort to learn the material, listen to him, and study and you will definitely make an A.
Difficult to understand due to his accent. Tricky on lab practical questions. Will split hairs & he will always win.
Tests aren't too bad if you study. He made our last test take home, no homework. 4 tests and 3-4 quizzes. Pretty good professor. He is an MD from Italy, so he knows his stuff. Anatomy isn't easy, and he does try his best to make the material clear for everyone.
Love the guy, will take him again. He expressed concern when class did poorly on quizzes and he made a plan to help us. EXTREMELY knowledgeable. I always felt confident in his answers. Attendance is optional lab/lecture. You can use an older text/lab book edition for less than $60 total. Playful sense of humor. Sit up front to help with accent.
I would advise not to take this professor. Although he is very knowledgeable, he is very unorganized about the structure of both lab and lecture; also he is pretty forgetful on what you talk to him about. His tests are pretty hard. Yes, he gave a take home test. Gives 3-4 lecture quizzes, as well as 12 lab quizzes, which he will take the top 8.
He was an ok professor. Very unorganized, did not have any make up lecture quizzes.
Dr. Elung is an awesome teacher. Very organized and helpful. His drawing is better than the picture of the text book. He cares about his students. Will take his A&P II again! A&P is painful...He didn't make the pain go away but he did make it easier! Highly recommended.
He is very good. He provides everything necessary to do well in the class.I learned a lot from him this fall.I am trying to adjust my work schedule to take him again for A&P II
Took him for lecture and Lab. Honestly, he is a great professor. For his lecture, you just have to come to class (attendance is not mandatory) and study his powerpoints. Don't need the book! A&P is hard but he makes it really fun and easy. The only professor who gave the least amount of work (eg: 45 muscles to learn for practical instead of 86).
If you can get used to new accents fairly quickly, take him. His lecture tests are very thorough but multiple choice, which apparently is not the case with the other professors! His lectures can get boring, but I guess that's A&P for you. (Bring snacks or coffee to class!). He's very smart and genuinely wants his students to succeed.
He is ok, but very unorganized don't bother sending email he will not respond. First time to take him this semester and he will say one thing and do another. Take someone else if organization and email response is important!!!!!!!
I had a good experience with his class. He is really good and explains the material well.He has a foreign accent, but you get used to it fairly quickly. He was always available by email and in his office.Take him and he will make you open your brain and learn to apply A&P. He has a "real brain" in his head
He is good, just unorganized
Professor Elung was available to help me during office hours and he explains the material well.
Good teacher overall, it's just the class that is difficult. A large amount of studying is required if you want an A, and textbook for at least his lab is essential study material. I received e-mail responses the same day, and be prepared to print out a lot of notes.
Took Summer 1, and his tests were straight from powerpoints and what he talked about in class. Tests over the big concepts. Definately put in a lot of time, but only because the class itsself not the professor. Definately would recommend him! If you study the powerpoints and take note of the major concepts in class, you'll do good.
Dr. Elung was intimidating at first, and I was tempted to drop his class but I stuck it out and I'm so glad I did. He ALWAYS stopped to answer any questions you had before, during, or after class. His tests come strait from his power points, I just used the book for extra clarification. 4 tests and 4 quizzes. Study VERY hard and you'll make an A!
Dr. Elung has an very helpful way of explaining material. He is great at piecing together smaller concepts so students can see the big picture. Great guy! Some people give him lower reviews because of his accent, but after a few classes, I don't think he's hard to understand at all! Definitely give him a chance...you won't be disappointed.
Strict, hard tests, tough grading, not helpful to every student, makes you feel stupid when you ask questions.
Dr. Elung emigrated to the U.S. and so has an accent that can take some getting used to. Besides that though he is an M.D. in his home country and so provides unrivaled detail in his lectures regarding anatomy and physiology. His tests are challenging, but for a student pursuing a career in clinical healthcare, he is a great teacher.
He is very knowledgeable, but tough. You will learn a lot in this class. Get ready to study! Not an easy A.
He is very understanding and fair. You have to understand the material well to pass his exams Memorizing is not enough. Had to understand initially but you quickly get use to his accent. He explains well and is willing to repeat. He is very smart. Class attendance is recommended to do well
Prof Elung would just turn on the projector and start reading it. I am a visual learning so him just reading from the projector was like him reading the book word for word aloudnot very helpful I'm a science major and I studied everything he suggested even went to office hours and got a D! he is a nice guy but not a good prof.
He was great , really nice, but tests were not easy
You'll start to hate him& then he'll do something reasonable to offset the balance, it's all part of the aesthetic. Weekly quizzes, 3 practicals, 2-4 reports. All painful. You get used to his accent & grading criteria. Listen closely, drill him for answers, work hard, know any& all things A&P and you'll be fine. He's not that bad, A&P is hard.
Professor Elung put a lot of effort to provide all that is needed to pass the class. His slides on blackboard were very helpful. He is very thorough, but provides all you need to do well. Attend classes, study very hard and ask questions when you have doubts and he will help you. He has an open door office hours policy. This is a tough class
I took this class in 2013. Elung does not like to help, only gives extra points to some people, moody, does not motivate you to learn, hard to understand. Not an easy A.
Dr. Elung lectures very well. He is very smart. If you want to really learn Physiology, he is the one. He is also very fair and understanding. A&P is hard regardless of the teacher you take, you must work hard for a good grade.
Elung is a pretty decent professor. His lectures aren't really necessary to attend since the powerpoints he puts on blackboard pretty much sum up everything that will be on the test, however it is worth going since he explains concepts thoroughly and talks about specific things that will be on the test. Tests are reasonable and he gives bonus q's
His test questions are confusing. He randomly puts up quizzes and extra credit on blackboard and doesn't give you much notice and they are due at odd times, so always check!! He got pretty far behind in class and had to skip complete sections and he is all about application of the material learned. How it can be used in real life. Funny though.
This semester we were really far behind on schedule. He takes his time lecturing and goes in depth with the material because he wants you to know it so we had to skip some chapters. His accent is a little difficult to understand sometimes. He would assign extra credit w/o notice some times. He can be all over the place. He's just okay. MUST STUDY
I learned from him than I have learned from any other professor. A lot to study but he teaches you physiology very well. If you want to really know the material, take him. Many opportunities for extra points.
His accent was sometimes hard to understand so paying attention in class is a must! He'll ask questions to get you to understand. Yes, his test are hard but he provides everything you need on his power points. He gets off topic in class and we got behind and skipped the last few chapters. But over all he's here to help you! I recommend him!
Frankly, Professor Elung is an excellent lab instructor. He answers every question you ask and will help you if you try. He gives 11 qiuzzes and takes best 8, gives bonus points , bonus for manual completion, gives a study guide. He is very fair. Take him.
I had a 4.0 before this semester. Prof Elung didn't want to be in class and spent most of his time on the computer. He puts surprise online quizzes up, never announces them on blackboard, and makes them due before the next class. He's also moody and kind of mean. IDK what teacher the other reviewers took but trust me when I say DON'T TAKE HIM.
A&P is tough but Dr. Elung is very knowledgeable and does his best to help students. He answers students questions always and he is very understanding and fair. Study his powerpoints well and take notes in class and you can make a good grade.
Professor Elung was great for a difficult class. It was my most challenging class yet, but he is thorough and makes it a bit less painful with many life examples and applications. If you put time to study hard, do his assignments on mastering before due date, always attend class and take notes, master his notes, an A is very possible. He is nice.
This Professor provides everything needed to have a good grade in the class
Great professor, knows what he's talking about. His exams comes straight from his powerpoints and attending lecture will help. He takes 4 out of 5 exams. Homework, quizzes, and extra credit are all on mastering a&p, so check daily for assignments! I made an A but I studied a lot. He gives ALOT of chances to help you bring your grade up.
Taking this class presently in summer 1. So far, so good. He is very intelligent and teaches very well. Makes sure students understand the material, although he goes fast due to time limits in the summer. Attend his lectures, take notes and combine with his powerpoints and you will be fine. Also do the extra credit assignments on mastering.
GREAT! GO TO CLASS, INFORMATIVE LECTURES! Office hours or ask questions in class if you don't understand! Makes a hard class easy! Bonus quizzes (4 points PER TEST!) + a BONUS TEST 1 point to your OVERALL FINAL GRADE. 89 TO A 90? DROPS 1 TEST! DROPS LAB QUIZZES! GREAT GUY. GREAT PROFESSOR. WOULD TAKE AGAIN!
He was a really great teacher. His lectures are power point based. All the 4 tests are based on them. He is fair and gives extra credit. Loved him. I also made a pretty good grade in his class as well.
He is awesome, A n P is a hard class but he make sure he explains the important points until you get them. He is very knowledgeable, he makes you find and name the lab models, this was very good because it stick in your mind. If you want to learn take him.
The benefit of taking Elung for AP1 is that he spends time explaining the tougher material. He does not spoon feed you something that is clear cut in the book. His exams are very fair. If you read the textbook chapters and powerpoints, you will get an A. Listen closely to his lectures, he gives hints as to what questions MIGHT be on the exam.
Professor Elung is great. I retook anatomy and chose to take it with him and I went from a D to a B. He's very clear as to what to focus on his lectures since the test relies mainly on them. The tests aren't easy but they're not impossible. Great professor, really learned a lot from him!
He is a good professor but his English is hard to understand. There are some extra credit chances. pay attention and take notes. do the assignments. Hard grader but fair. you will get the grade you earn.
While a good lecturer, and clearly knows what he's talking about and can explain it well, he was incredibly disorganized. Took his lecture and lab, he was late for many of the lectures & often unclear on what he expected for lab quizzes. In the lab, very much had the attitude of "figure it out yourself", and would rarely fully answer any questions.
Took class in summer 2. Needs a lot of studying. He knows the subject and explains very well. Also provides study guide and lots of materials to help get a better grade. Ask him questions when in doubt. Very patient and fair. If you work hard, you can easily make an A. He doesn't spoon-feed you, but answers questions. Would take again!
Only had him for lecture. Accent isn't bad, you can understand him no problem. He really knows the material, but teaching wise he is okay. Maybe if he used more group activities to understand the more difficult parts? One thing is he is not very welcoming to questions. He doesn't have a set schedule and you can easily miss an online quiz or bonus.
I liked his lecture class, You just need to read power point and your class note also there is extra credits. For the lab, he is a very tough grader. He doesn't care about your answer if it is not the one in his mind. He takes off point for spelling that is another problem. He has an extreme accent and low valium. Sit in front to hear.
He is a good professor. Knows content and will help if asked. Makes lecture enjoyable with good examples to real life. Accent is very understandable. You have to study very hard for A&P 2. He is fair. Attend class
This professor is the worst I have ever had.I am a person who tends to study a lot for tests and even after studying his power points, doing the study guide and reading the book I still managed to not pass tests because his tests are so difficult to comprehend and he is not helpful outside of class.
Great Professor for a tough class. Never studied and learned this much for a class, but was all worth it. Provides all the help you need to do well. Very funny and smart. Answers all questions and gives real life examples. Great lectures . Attend class and take notes. Extra credit assignments on mastering.
Good Professor. Very informative class. Read his powerpoints, attend class and take notes. Hints in his lectures about possible exam questions. Possibility of additional 4 points per exam if you do extra credits on mastering. Drops lowest of 5 exams, drops lowest of 5 quizzes. A lot of chances to do well if you study.I had a good experience.
Take Prof Erick and you won't regret. Easy A. This class requires a lot of studying so be ready to put some time and efforts in studying his PowerPoint and you ll make an easy A. Took him for both lecture and lab. He is great, always ready to explain concepts not understood out of class. You can tell he knows and enjoys the subject matter.
Professor Elung is okay (not hard or easy). He has a thick accent but understandable. He provides extra credit for every chapter (1- 4pts+ to exam) on pearson mastering (so yes buy access code). 5 exams & 5 quizzes. No textbook just study the powerpoints. I had to self study alot exams are a bit hard. Would take his class again if necessary.
Great professor! I took this class in a 5 week summer semester, so it was extremely fast and quite difficult, but he made it possible to get an A. He offers extra credit online and through extra quizzes, etc. If you keep up with your studying, an A is possible.
Loved him. Clear, fluid lectures and a funny man. His tests are not tricky, nor are they so difficult you cant make an A. But you HAVE to study outside class. AnP is not something you take on casually. Elung will make sure you have a great shot at acing the class if you just come to class, take notes, and prepare at home.
Professor Elung was by far the worst professor I have ever had, he didnt even teach us anything and when he did he would just say it once and then youre left to figure it out. given that this was an anatomy class I would have assumed that he would at least teach but he didnt. I dont recommend taking him, I would literally take anyone else.
Professor E was a great. He made our transition to online a bit painless. Held classes on zoom and was very flexible with testing dates and times. He makes you work for your grade. Doubles your highest lecture grade and has bonuses on mastering. Willing to answer all questions and help. Put the time and effort and you will do well.
Professor Elung provides great power points and a study guide for every exam. The problem is, when you want something elaborated, he doesnt budge to help. He doesnt let students ask questions till after hes done lecturing long after. 5 Tests, 4 quizzes. Extra credit is optional(has to be purchased $90) for 4 points to each test, not worth it.
Prof. E pushed me to pull out my best. He does a lot of application, so you have to understand the material, not just memorization. He will always help when asked. Very patient and understanding. His assignments on mastering help you understand some difficult materials, some of which come in the test. He gives 5 exams and doubles your highest exam
Read and understand his powerpoints. Watch his videos and ask questions when in doubt. He is very good in A&P and you will learn a lot. Do online bonus assignments and study hard. You can make an A. I liked his style of teaching and asking questions.
He gives you all the tools you need to do well. I studied only from his powerpoints, did his assignments on mastering and reviewed them when they are reopened after deadline, studied mainly from his notes. I always asked him questions sometimes over zoom. He was always ready to help me study. He is an excellent A&P teacher and very fair to students
It's not worth your time or money if you want to learn. I did not find his lectures to be helpful. He did not answer any questions. He would make fun of students who did ask questions. Very disrespectful. I politely questioned about a mistake he made on my grade and he completely avoided it. I read the book, but switched to just reading slides.
Elung really knew the material. I didn't use the book much, his tests are off his powerpoints. He's a tough grader and the exams are not easy. I switched to online in the middle of the course and it got much more difficult, not entirely his fault. Not super open to questions in class but gives lots of office time.
Mr. Elung is very good in his subject. He explains material in detail and knows subject very well. His notes and lectures have all you need to pass well. Gives bonus assignments and doubles highest lecture grade.
He is good. A lot of labeled models to learn from and good study guide. Thorough and quick witted. Always available to help.
This is my second round at A&P 1 & Ive had a horrible experience both times. Elung, though is respectful, his PowerPoints are incredibly hard to follow. Repeating slides and labels are off. Typos & unfinished questions on exams & study guides are so unhelpful. They dont even follow the PowerPoints, I had to google a bunch of stuff on the reviews.
I have taken Elung for both A&P1 and A&P2. Overall, he is a good guy and cares that his students succeed. He gives extra credit and other tools for our grades to bump up. However, his tests can be hit or miss. Some are fair and others are outrageously hard. Everyone says if you follow his PowerPoint youll do well but thats not always true.
He is just awesome. I was skeptical at the beginning, but he turned out to be one of my best Professors. Knows material in and out. Attend his lectures and do his bonus assignments. He doubles the highest exam grade
I took his BIOL 2401 Lab. He gives a lot of bonus assignments that help you learn the material out of class. Always willing to help. Taking him for both lab and lecture for BIOL 2402
I learned a lot from this class. Taking him again for BIOL 2402
A&P requires time to study the material. Prof Elung Study guide is helpful and he is open to questions when you ask. He gives bonus quizzes and practice activities online and drops your lowest quiz grade.
Prof. Elung made A&P 2 much easier but you have to study and he notices the students that work hard. Gives extra credit points on the lab practical and a study guide. This class is not easy so you have to work hard. His a tough grader also.
Prof. Elung knows the materials well and priorities your understanding. Attendance is optional, but you must participate and take notes to do well in the tests because he will emphasize which parts or what will be asked. Frequently check to complete extra credit assignments on Pearson because he sometimes forgets to post due dates on Canvas.
One of the best I've had
He is just awesome. Knows how to teach A&P. The brightest professor I've had so far. Also a nice person.
I took this professor over the summer as a 5 week course and it so really bad. He was always at least 15 mins late to lecture and went at least 15-45 mins over. He provided slides but would teach off of completely different ones. His tests did not correlate to what he taught. He also refused to help in lab. Do not take him if you can.
He is my favorite prof, took him for 2 classes. He was hard to understand at first with his accent, but you get used to it. Must show up to class and put in effort if you want him to help you at all, emphasizes need to know for test in class. He really does listen to his students. If you feel like you need more time, he will normally accommodate
Hard to understand his accent or read his handwriting. You can tell he knows the material well just not very good at teaching it. Only provides powerpoints over the material and it doesnt really go into detail or cover everything he tests over. I eventually stopped showing up and just had to teach myself because the class was no help.
I took his class last sememster after seeing the good reviews but didn't have the same experiences. He is hard to understand and you can't even read his handwriting so keeping up with him makes it quite hard. As well as not following the powerpoint in order, the only other help would be his textbook extra credits or 15 question quizzes.
Enjoyable lectures. He's knowledgeable about material but you need to go over the material before class so you don't get lost. Has ppt slides but draws diagrams which can be helpful if you're paying attention. Curves tests & has extra credit. Was behind schedule the whole semester so our class didn't even get to the skeletal system at the end.
