I took both Econ (101) & (102) at the same time. He is an excellent professor and will provide you with all the necessary tools to succeed. His lectures are very clear and he coveres the material accordingly. He gives some HW, Quizes and the tests are hard, but he grades fairly. Just make sure you attend class and do the work and you should do fine
Great instructor. Makes economic very easy to understand. He makes every feel welcome. Take time to explain over and over if need be. Love this instructor. Learn so much.
He was a super easy teacher. He'll go over stuff several times to make sure you understand it and use elaborate illustrations and a lot of drawings on the whiteboard. He even showed a clip of the princess bride to illustrate game theory! Super fun class. Only 3 tests (practice, midterm and final) and 3 hw assignments throughout the semester.
Great instructor! If you show up to every class, you will not have a problem passing. His test are difficult but if you are close he gives you the benefit of the doubt. He gives you points just for showing up to the test. He is very energetic about his lectures, you will not be bored. I would take his course again in a heartbeat.
Dr Peterson is full of energy and makes econ easy and fun to learn. My favorite part of his lectures was his simple examples that helped the class understand what he was trying to teach.
Overall is a fantastic professor, would recommend to anyone taking Microeconomics
he is an easy econ teacher ! he makes super understandable. I wish he tough more econ classes! the lowest grade anyone can ever get is a B. he
Dr. Peterson is truly an expert in his field. He presented his dissertation about surfboarding as a common pool resource and its application to game theory; this provided wonderful insight to research of higher-level education. He will definitely inspire business majors and the like. Even if not - a great class to check off general ed requirements.
Overall good economics professor. 4 homework assignments + about 3-4 pop quizzes + 2 midterms + 1 final None of his work is multiple choice and you're expected to memorize a lot of math formulas. His lectures are based off the book, but I didn't use the book since I attended every class. *Covers the stock market pretty well.
I loved this class! Everything you need to know is in the textbook, and although the Homework tests are really hard, there are only 5 of them and they are not that heavily weighted. The rest of the work are discussions, podcasts, midterm, and final. The midterm and final are on a curve. I learned alot and would definitely take this professor again!
Brilliant instructor. He is always open to discussion about homework problems or the economy in general. He is passionate about his material, and grades easy. His enthusiasm will keep you engaged most of the time. The exams aren't too hard if you study the material prior to test day. Would recommend to anyone.
I had Econ 102 in summer with him, He is awesome. I will definitely recommend him. get class and get note and pay attention to his lectures you will pass it with A. He is easy but at the same time is not. I enjoy his class, and really like him. Im going to take another class with him.
Professor Peterson is an amazing instructor. He is incredibly passionate about economics - it actually kind of rubs off on you. He is full of energy so lectures were always interesting. He is always eager to answer any questions you might have. Random quizzes throughout the semester but as long as you pay attention they will be easy for you.
He made economics so easy to understand.
Great Professor. He grades based off homework, quizzes, and tests. All of which are really easy and designed like easy algebra worksheets. His lectures are super organized and clear about what he wants you to know. He speaks really fast which can be intimidating at first but he's actually really nice and approachable.
He was a great Prof. Took his online class for Fall Semester. Do all the work and it's a easy A.
This professor makes economics easy to understand. He genuinely cares. He will go out of his way to teach you what you need to do in order to retire with great retirement savings. His class is not hard to pass, and he clears up any confusion a person may have very easily.
Prof. Peterson is one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are not boring and he applies them to the real world. He seems intimidating but is actually really approachable and funny. Grade is based on 4 or 5 easy homework assignments, 2 midterms, and a final. Take him!
I had taken his Micro class a few semesters prior to taking his Macro class, however this didn't cause any issues. He's one of the best professors at JC. His lectures include real world examples, is pretty funny, and though his quizzes/midterms/final are a bit tough, he grades leniently. Show up to class, take notes, study them - and an A is easy.
Awesome professor! Just took him for econ 101 and taking 102 next semester with him. Generous grader and goes mainly from the book. Highly recommended. Most of your grade comes from exams though but they're only like 5 questions and worth 20 points each so lots of room for partial credit.
SUCH a great class. It's an introductory course so he keeps the math to a minimum and explains economics through common terms. Mentions Jim Cramer a lot and teaches money mgmt/ life skills as well. Pass with an A if you attend class, take notes, and do the homework.
Kept class interesting. He doesnt tell you when quizzes will be, but if you pay attention in class they are easy. Not very much homework.
Hardly any homework, and midterms and the final are based on about 5 or 6 questions. As long as you show up to class, take notes, and take quizzes then you will easily. He knows his stuff but can be very fast, so you must pay attention the entire class.
Professor Peterson is an easy A, no doubt. Lecture is heavy. He does do pop quizzes. But there is only 2-3 questions. He gives 50% on test just for showing up. The material is interesting but you can tune out sometimes.
Barely any hw so most of your grade will be in tests. That being said, Peterson clearly covers anything on tests and the tests are easy questions testing understanding more than accurate figures. Tests are curved with diminishing returns but a zero in a test still nets a 50%. Talks a lot, somewhat fast, but not overwhelming.
He has 3 pop quizzes throughout the semester. He gives out 4 hw assignments, but he gives you about 1-2 weeks to do it. He has 2 midterms & a final. On his tests he already gives you half the points, you just have to work for the other half. Easy to get a B or higher on tests & quizzes. His grades are weighted, so you need to do the hw to pass.
Great Professor! He is super passionate about economics and saving/investing. If you can do the homework and quiz, you will do fine on the exam. He is very clear on what he expects you to know. I took both 101 & 102 at the same time and it wasn't difficult.
BEST ECON PROFESSOR. Online course has few assignments, there is a weekly discussion board w/replies, a LearnSMART, and an occasional homework. Midterm and final, midterm is the first half of the class cumulative and final is last half cumulative. Super easy, loved his class!
BEST ECON PROFESSOR. Peterson is extremely smart, and a very passionate teacher. He gives out 4 homework assignments, 3 pop quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. Even though Econ can be pretty tough, he explains things in such a way that everything just "makes sense". Overall, an awesome professor, and I wish he offered more classes!
The best professor I have taken so far at Mjc! He's lenient with his grading and he provides clear lectures that will be extremely useful for quizzes, midterms, and the final. Doesn't require mandatory attendance, but any class you'll miss will bite you. Definitely recommend taking his class!
I never missed a lecture because they were always so, so very interesting. He made economics so fun and interesting that I changed my major. He is inspirational and passionate about his classes. Has a great grading system too.
Homework assignment and discussion heavy. 1 midterm and 1 final- some multiple-choice questions but mostly math problems. He grades promptly and provided good feedback. I got a C+ on my final and still got an A in the class. Stay on top of everything to give you wiggle room for the exams since they can be tricky.
A great professor that knows how to clearly explain the material and keep the class interesting. You will learn a lot, and if you need help, he's very willing to assist you and better explain something to you if necessary. He's also really friendly and easy to talk to, you will learn and have a great experience in his class.
Pretty funny. Teaches from textbook mostly. Covers topics and moves on quickly but if you go to class youll do fine
A class I like attending.
Great
After taking him in 101 I decided to take him again. Was not disappointed. Hands down in the top 2 professors at MJC. Just a great guy who I learned to respect...
Erick Peterson is a classic professor. Showing up to his class was a great part of my day. A true economist who wants his students to succeed. Makes every tough concept super simple. Take his class, he is one of the best MJC has to offer. He is also pretty comical in class, weather he wants to be or not.
Genuinely takes time to make sure students understand his concepts, mostly teaches from the text book. Has terrible hand writing but you get use to it, his test are a little difficult but you'll survive if you go to class. Gives lots of life related examples.
Received A's for both of my Econ classes with him. Not easy A's, you have to do your part of course, read your chapters prior to every lecture and absorb as much as you can. He makes lecture fun and they're information you don't want to miss out on. Highly recommend him for Economics! Btw, he's good looking!
he's a great professor. class isn't boring at all. There are pop quizzes but easy ones. IF you go to class, it should't be too hard to do the problems
Professor Peterson is awesome! His classes are easy to understand, he really cares that you learn. It makes economics, not boring. I learned a lot with him. If you do your homework, you will surely pass your exams.
Awesome. This professor is the best business teacher ever.
Passionate economics teacher. Whole course is very straight-forward, with pop quizzes that are easy IF you go to class. You literally have to try to fail. I would honestly skip on getting the textbook as it was rarely used, maybe only if you don't go to class/take notes. Homeworks/quizzes are great study guides for the midterms.
Just like most business classes you have to do McGraw hill. You also do one discussion a week. I was a fairly easy class but McGraw hill answers were hard to find online. Would recommend for an online course.
Easy class, all you do is ready the textbook chapter assignment that week, take the quiz at the end and participate in a discussion. that it! this class was a walk in the park. midterm and final are only 10 questions and are based on the homework assignment which you can have by your side while you take the mid term and final.
Awesome professor. I really love his teaching style and easy A. If you attend the class regularly no need to study. He is one of the best professors in the MJC. Only three popup quizzes, three homework, and two exams. All tests and quizzes are super easy if we follow his lecture regularly.
He explains what is on the test before it is given, and usually the answers were on the quiz or homework, it was mandatory to use a textbook completely but he recommended it if you wanted to go more in depth with the material .
Hes very clear on what he expects. Dont be late to class. Not a lot of homework. Took the summer course so there was 3 exams, 3 quizzes, & 4 hw assignment total.
Professor Peterson is clearly passionate about economics. He can come across as harsh but he really does care about your success. Its a roll of the dice if hell be willing to discuss the material he covered in class with you personally once hes passed out homework. The class material is elaborate, so speak up immediately if you arent following!
ive been at Mac for about 3 years now and as long as I've been here, Peterson is the BEST teacher ive ever had. He WANTS you to get something from this class you can use in life, and thats something I really appreciated.
I took him for both macro and micro. One in class and the other online. I received an A for both classes. He is really good at explaining subject so as long as you show up to class you will be good. I did not use the textbook, i only showed up to the lectures so it was good enough for me. He does give you pop quizzes so show up to class.
Mr. Peterson is an amazing professor. His lectures are clear and he is always willing to answer any questions you have. He will provide examples of problems that will be on your homework assignments, and those homework problems are very similar to questions that you will be asked on midterms and the final.
I took his class year ago and i have come back to rate him becausen I haven't anybody better than him yet. He actually teaches you like real life examples , things useful in daily life. Economics is used everywhere today so, he was great. Business major or not I suggest you to take his class because you will learn alot more than just numbers.
The best instructor for Econ. Makes hard formulas and concepts very easy. Textbook assigned but never used it, no need to buy it. Little homework. His lectures are mandatory, especially if you don't want to buy the book. Grade based off 3 tests. Very easy grader! I would recommend his class online so you don't have to memorize formulas for tests.
Took him for both Econ 101&102 BEST PROFESSOR HANDS DOWN. Total of 5 homeworks and 2 midterms and a final throughout semster. LENIENT GRADER, funny and caring. Pop collecter
You will not need the book if you pay attention to the examples in class. He explains very well, really cares that his students understand the concepts. Easy class if you practice the examples of pop quizzes and homework before the exams. Don't be scared of the pop quizzes they are not so hard (they count for your grade) so don't miss class.
This was a super easy class. Attendance isn't mandatory and we don't use the book either but all the information for the homework and quizzes we learn during lectures. He is pretty straight up and has dry humor but gives you great information. Easy class.
Hes the best teacher at mjc no doubt about it. He truly cares, and wants you get something out of this class. Whether you choose to use it in the real world or not. Plus he most importantly wants you to pass, took him for 101 and 102. Wish there was a thing such as 103 just to take his class again!
Easiest class I've taken. Only 5 homework assignments throughout the year and pop quizzes so make sure to come to class and 2 midterms which are very easy. I recommend him to everyone
Professor Peterson teaches economics with a solid chance you'll learn something. His class really makes it feel unnecessary to attend, but if you didn't buy the book then you have to show up. Homework and quizzes are assigned only when nearing a midterm/final.
Super cool and insightful, class is semi-challenging but you can do well if you go to class. If youre going to miss class a lot then buy the textbook. His lectures are engaging
I had the opportunity to take both 101 &102 and loved it! Show up to class take down good notes and you'll do great. He gives plenty of examples that reflect very closely what is on his tests. He likes student participation if he asks a question be ready with a response, don't sit there like a bump on a log!! Highly recommended!
Absolutely love this profesor! He is very passionate about economics, which is awesome! If you like math, science, or finance, you will love this class. I would highly recommend this profesor!
Mr. Peterson is an excellent teacher. Attend class and do the little homework given you will have an easy time.
Dr. Peterson is one of the best professors I have ever taken. He makes the material interesting and easy to understand. If you show up and take notes you'll do well. If you skip class, you might not. His homeworks are like the exams, and all of the questions are application problems just like he does during lecture. He's really funny and real.
His lectures are so easy to follow. I cant express how much I enjoyed his class because of how good he was at his job. DEFINITELY TAKE HIS CLASS NO REGRETS.
By far one of the best classes I've taken this year. Professor Peterson's class can be a little bit challenging for a non Econ major, but is manageable if you put the effort into the work. Its extremely important to show up to class and turn in homework or you won't pass. Peterson clearly knows a lot about economics and knows what he's talking abou
Pop quizzes and there is some homework. Grades different than many other teachers, but is a nice teacher and I would recommend.
If u have the opportunity to take Petersons class u should. The textbook isn't necessary if u attend every lecture and take good notes because he goes over everything that u need to know in class. Attendance also isn't mandatory but if u miss a lecture u will get lost and the next sections of the class won't make sense. He makes math interesting.
Peterson is the professor that u want teaching u anything that has to do with money. He ties the material to everyday situations and explains all of it in detail so that if u pay attention to the lecture and take good notes, u will understand the information even if u aren't great at math. Homework and quiz are minimal with 4 tests. Pats fan tho.
I took Econ 101 with a different professor and the difference was huge. I wish I would have had professor Peterson for Econ 101. The supplemental videos he posts are helpful and Learnsmart is helpful as well. I would take any class with him again!
Professor Peterson is one of the best professors at MJC. He makes the class easy, and he teaches you things that'll help you in your life. Going to the class is a great experience. His online class is easy. I highly recommend this professor.
Amazing professor! He is always looking to help students understand Economics. He has a genuine concern for assisting when students need help. His classes are fun and interesting. You will learn a lot by taking this course.
Took this class online for summer 2020 - great professor and great class! Most assignments are just based on completion. I enjoyed how economic concepts were applied to real-life situations in our discussion posts. He also gave great feedback. Midterm and final are exactly like the homework. Do all of the assignments and it should be an easy A.
Online summer 2020. Great teacher. I really appreciate the extra time he took to give us individual feedbacks. Class is difficult. Read and practice the homework materials. They're almost exactly the same on midterms and final. Good luck!
Professor Peterson is awesome! You will not regret taking his class. He provided voice recorded feedback which really helped with understanding how well you did on your assignments. Every week he provided a video introduction of what we would be covering in class and the assignments that would be due. He answers your questions promptly. A1 Teacher!
I enjoyed taking both courses with Professor Peterson. He is a wonderful and thoughtful professor. He gives feedback on everything which is amazing and appreciated. Just keep up with your assignments and you will pass this class.
Lectures are made available outside of designated times- if you do the work, you will probably get an A.
Professor Peterson is a really good professor that is very passionate about economics. He makes it really interesting. I would definitely take from him again!
One of the most helpful professors I've ever had. I was totally afraid to take economics, but he made it make sense. He also gave helpful advice on how to start using the stock market, which is really helpful. Do the homework--I would've had an A if I hadn't missed a couple assignments. Tests are from the lecture, and the lectures are great!
Professor Peterson is an excellent instructor who made econ not only fun but memorable. Took both courses online. Learned so much information that I will actually retain. What stuck the most was the examples given for what is expected in the weekly discussions that made the course less challenging.
I was worried about going into this class because I knew nothing about economics. I left feeling ready for his econ 102 class. Truly a teacher that wants his students to get something out of his class, even if you're not majoring in econ. Watch ALL the lectures and you will easily pass.
Had a great time, no surprises. DO YOUR HW on time, watch the lectures, save the pdfs and screenshots, take the quizzes/tests/final. Get an A if you try. He does a great job of explaining concepts if you ask. Solid Class
I took him for econ 101 during spring'21 and I thought it was going to be hard because I didn't know anything about economics, but if you watch his lecture videos it's pretty easy! Only got 4 homework assignment throughout the course again watch his videos he explains them there step by step. Also right after the hw is due he goes over the answers.
Discussions are pretty easy just do not overthink it. He gives examples if you are not sure what to write about. Midterm and final exams are exactly like the hw assignments, so make sure you do the hw and watch his lecture videos because he goes over everything right there.
I took his 7-week summer class we had one discussion post each week with an assignment on the site called Mcgraw Hill it was easy. Watch his lectures he does not accept late work. The midterm and final were easy!
All we had to do is work on group discussions, homework, and quizzes. It's easy but some of them are more difficult than others. I have no complaints so if you need to take an Econ-101 class, take it.
Straightforward, well-organized and structured class. Reasonable workload (I work FT and take 2-3 online classes) - 1 chapter/wk with homework assignment, discussion post/replies, midterm and final. He uses McGraw-Hill, which I really enjoy. He's very responsive, grades timely and provides relevant resources to help you understand the material.
This class is straight forward with no surprises. A couple assignments and a discussion post per week. It's very easy to get full credit but they only add up to 60% of your grade leaving the rest of the 40% to your midterm exam and final exam. This means that despite the fact that they are curved, it is imperative you do good on them.
