Requires a lot of readings in order to do homework, homework grades based on above 80% or below, either you will get 1.5 point or zero. lecture notes are not posted, no lecture recordings, you won't pass the test if don't go to class. Nice and helpful professor, heavy lectures.
The textbook that is used is very disorganized. By disorganized I mean it is very hard to find answers to solve questions in quiz quickly and efficiently and prepare for exams because it's wordy with too many examples. Author's definitions don't match glossary definitions, and what the professor lectures is custom picked. Lectures are good.
Very average professor. Three tests and then online quizzes for each chapter in the textbook. You have to go to class and take notes, and you need to know your stuff from the book. She seems nice, and answers questions in a helpful way. Tests get curved up.
Generally the class is okay, kinda boring material. The class title "Assessing Individual differences " is deceiving, the class is about different psychological research tests. Over all as a person Ericka was great but as a professor is tough. The bare minimum of power point notes are posted online (go to class). Wouldn't recommend unless required.
Posts all of her lectures online so you don't need to go. There is an opportunity for 3% extra credit on your grade. There are 5 exams, 4 are required and there's an optional cumulative final at the end. There are quizzes for each chapter online that are open book and if you get a 75% or better on them you get 100% of the points. EASY CLASS!
Overall a very boring class and professor. Her test are very difficult and do not add up to the textbook or notes. Her TA was also really bad this semester too. Do not waste your time with this class! Try your best to take it with another professor.
This teacher has awful lecture notes. They are skeletal outlines which you must basically fill in when she lectures. The only downside is she is a poor lecturer. She talks in a way where she seems very unsure about almost everything she says. She doesn't really explain things very well and what textbook material is on the test.
Dr. Nus was an amazing professor and really knows the material well enough to help students understand in a more visual sense. She makes goods notes but does not post lectures online. Many complain about test difficulty however if you actually read the book you will do well on the tests. Very kind lady and gives opportunities of extra credit.
Dr. Nus was one of my favorite teachers. She is understandable and a very kind woman. She gives good examples in class and explains things until you understand. Obviously if you don't read the book the test will be hard. Welcome to college. If you still are failing consider a different major. She also gives extra credit and curves the tests.
Dr. Nus was an extremley nice professor and truly cares about her students. The class is extremely managable and interesting. If you are an effortless student and chooses to not read a book then continue to blame her instead of yourself, & choose an easy major, because any type of psych class requires reading. Tests are curved and I earned 6 EC pts
Overall Ericka was a nice lady, but she rambled on about things that were not even in the test. Some questions on the exams were things shed never said or were not in the textbook. Lectures are extremely boring.
Do not take her! Her slides are not helpful theres like 2 words on them. She goes over chapters in class and if she doesnt have time to go over it your expected to know it from reading the book because u dont know whats gunna be on the exam
I was wary at first. But she turned out to be better than expected. Super genuine and clarifies the material incredibly well during lecture. Pay attention when she's going over slides, you'll have to fill in what is missing on them by taking notes on what she says for it. Study the textbook, go to class for exam bonus points, and you'll be ok.
She's a great professor, her lectures are easy to understand and enjoyable. Unfortunately her exams do not follow up with her lectures and she doesn't do formal exam reviews. Which in my opinion is a must for this class seeing as there is way too much chapters to review for one exam. If you're not a good test taker, DONT take this class. Exam heavy
All vocab. in this course. She reads off of the slides almost every class which was very boring. There are 4 exams, a few easy online quizzes, and extra credit opportunities. Not bad overall
Ive attended all classes and took notes carefully, but the exams totally different than her words! She post the slides (only w outline. Half is empty lines) RIGHT before class. How can I bring them to write on? She takes so long to upload exam grades, takes forever to see it!! Her voice is so shaky. Too much unnecessary words during lectures!!
She's a decent professor, she gets her point across well and the tests are fair, but her lectures are almost unbearable for me because she constantly repeats herself on things that could be explained once and things that should probably have been given more depth are not. My biggest issue is that she said "um" like every third word.
Her lectures are interesting enough and she does a good job giving examples. Only downside is that exams are based off the textbook and the lectures and she doesn't cover all the material in the textbook during lecture so you have to attend and read 50+ pages a week! There are other professors for psych 101 that offer a MUCH lower work load!
Honestly the worst professor Ive had in College when it comes to school work. Her lectures arent well done. Her teaching style isnt understandable. You are to teach yourself and do the exams. Thats it.
The lectures are basically there for decoration. She gives long lectures on things that are 10% of the quiz. The other 90% you have to read the book. You might as well not go to lecture since almost nothing in the lecture pops up on the quizzes.
The tests were so challenging that it took more than a 2 weeks to get the exams back.
For class: PSY-321 She has a hard time responding to emails. Every time I emailed her a question, she would respond days later. (MORE than 3 days to respond) Also, she takes forever to post grades. Which sucks because you might think youre doing well, and then BOOM grades come in weeks later and youre not. (And vice versa)
Her lectures barely scratch the surface of what's actually in the textbook chapter. Some of her quiz questions are super confusing and are about something that she nor the textbook covered. You can take the quiz twice though. She will offer extra credit. Tests aren't super difficult if you study the textbook material more than her lecture material.
Absolutely the worst professor I've had at UB. Lecture slides are useless, no point in listening to her lectures. She talks about things in the lectures that are not even on the quiz. Quiz/Exam language (as in vocabulary ) is completely different. Lastly, she doesn't present well either, she sounds completely unconfident in her own material.
Professor Nus is a nice, fair professor. Her tests include information from her lectures and the textbook. During lecture you must follow along and fill in the lecture slides. For tests, you must read each chapter in the book and write down throughout notes for each one. Study these notes like crazy then your good. Not a bad prof but not the best.
First, her tests are incredibly hard. 10% lecture and 90% comes from textbook which you have to read like 100 pages every week. Tests are worded so differently than the way she teaches. She also grades paper assignments very harshly. She does not go over tests nor does she has practice tests. The annoying part is that she says um every sentence
I took this class online (asynchronous). Every week, there was textbook chapter to read and a multiple choice quiz about the reading, then lectures to watch for that chapter. There were four non-cumulative exams, all open book and multiple choice. If you do the reading and watch the lectures, you will be fine. You def have to read the book tho.
Although this class is book-heavy, if you watch the lectures every week and know how to navigate the textbook you should get at least a B. I never read the textbook and so far have an A in the class. Just stay on top of lectures and quizzes!
Exams are worth 82% of your grade, fail 1 and you're screwed. No point in lectures, material doesn't skim the surface of what she asks on exams. MUST read the book, yet you'll still fail exams. Every assignment is graded by a computer so you receive no feedback. I had a 4.0 GPA going into my senior year til I took her class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
This class with her was not bad. Tests are open book and with a generous amount of time to complete it. Weekly quizzes and short writing assignments. Not bad, but you definitely have to read and know the book to do well. I wish she was more engaged as a professor. Overall not bad though, just watch the lectures and read the book. You'll be fine.
Would not recommend. Both this class and prof were among the worst that I've taken at UB. Extremely difficult exams & papers, and a very tough grader. This is the most time ive put into studying for a class and the lowest grade ive ever received. Also not helpful outside of class.
Prof. Nus was an okay professor. I will say that tests were open notes with a good amount of time to complete. Your grade is based on weekly chapter quizzes, 3 exams, and the discussion board questions. Her class is fairly easy to pass as long as you read the textbook and complete all the assignments.
Very Textbook heavy. Open notes tests which are super helpful. She gives pretty good lectures but moves pretty fast through them. Id say she is a good choice you just have to make sure to keep up with the workload and youll be good!
Dr. Nus posted many long lectures but I didnt watch any of them and still passed the class with an A since she allows open book and note exams. I didnt love her teaching style simply because she was not concise at all and posted so much material but the class is so easily manageable.
Do not take her unless you love reading textbooks. Her lectures did not help me at all so don't even bother looking at them. She tells you to read the textbook and watch the lectures, but nobody actually has time to do both so just read the textbook.
Her lecture are straight up useless and a waste of time. Give yourself a favor and jump straight to textbook, all her exam are fairly easy and give you lots of time. I didn't watch a single lecture and still passed with good grades. It's nice she give you an option final and drops the lowest grades.
You have to read the textbook chapters in this class to do well. The lectures are also interesting and you can tell the professor really has a passion for what she is teaching. There are weekly quizzes and short writing assignments every week to help boost your grade.
Dr. Nus is super hard to follow during lectures, so youre going to need to have the textbook to survive. She doesn't ever present well, and she seems unconfident in the material she supposedly loves so much. Shes hard to follow, carries on about unrelated subjects all the time, and it feels impossible to pay attention. Avoid this class! Truly!
imbedded lecture quizzes, lectures do not help AT ALL. in order to pass this class you have to read the textbook by yourself and understand the concepts alone. very difficult for a 101 class and very useless and smelly professor!
Take this class if you want to be married to your textbook. Imbedded lecture quizzes so you almost have to watch something USELESS for over an hour. Lectures are a waste of time. You almost need to rewrite the entire textbook in your notes to have a fighting chance on the exams. Class was open note but that didn't help much. No study material too.
It will be easier for you if you read the chapters and pay attention to the lectures
This class was way more intense than I expected. The powerpoints given were less than skeleton notes and gave little to no guidance. This class requires not only paying the most attention possible for 1 hour and 15 min twice a week, but reading the entire textbook front to back which is an unrealistic expectation. Worst class I've taken at Buffalo
She is a joke. This intro Psychology class takes upwards of 12 hours of week to complete her work. Tests are nothing like lectures, the textbook, and weekly quizzes. She uses the same pre-recorded video from several years ago. Horrific class, by far the worst I've had. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID. 4 exams, 15 quizzes, and 9 research hours.
lectures seemed useless and rambley and class is very textbook heavy
I loved professor Nus! You do have to read a lot and attend lectures but I always felt prepared for the exams even with a little bit of studying. You could tell she was really interested and passionate about what she was teaching.
youll be confused as to where you went wrong because her feedback is vague and you dont get your exams back. She talks about class attendance decreasing although the test is dependent on the textbook so it doesnt matter if you go or not. If you go you can get bonus points that does absolutely nothing for your grade
Really like her lecture. All you do is read the textbook and enjoy her lecture. get an easy A in her class. Make sure you understand the textbook and the things that she teaches because if her exam is open- note, her questions will be super hard.
Her exams were open book which made it easy to get a decent grade. Her lectures are boring but they help with the tests.
Shes a great professor! I have here again for another psy class, its great because all her tests are open book. Shes really good at explaining things aswell and her lectures are very throrough
Doesnt care
Please, if you have an interest in psy, please dont take Nus. She made me never want to touch psy again. If you get her, I would recommend to not go to her lectures and strictly read the textbook. Her lectures are watered down versions of the textbook and she doesnt provide everything that will be on test. AVOID the unneeded stress of taking psy
The lectures are very unhelpful. They go over very little information that is on the test. Expects you to read the textbook and guess what you think is important for the test.
If you take this class do not attend the lectures, which are vague and useless. Your time is better spent reading the textbook as her lectures are basically the textbook but missing a bunch of key information. There are 4 Exams and a cumulative final. Figuring out what will be on exams is a dart throw.
Although the attendance is not mandatory, her test took up 88% of the overall grade while the rest 12% is taken by 12 quizzes. Don't try to rely on her slides, it won't help for your test. the test is heavily textbook based
Dont take this class if u have hard time paying attention in class. If you dont listen for the entire lecture u will miss something. The tests are nothing like the lectures and there is little to no material to study if you even wanted to. The lecture slides basically have no information on them.
She sucks, if you can avoid her do it. I wrote in her course evaluations that she should really take a look at this page because clearly she can use the improvement.
The class average was so low for a 400 person 101 class. What was on the exams was not talked about in class and the disconnect caused constant bad exam grades.
I beg you, do not take Nus. My class average after three tests was a 71%. This is a 100 level course. Her lectures are useless, one day she rambled about her dog for over 5 minutes. I would spend 5+ hours studying from her slides, textbook notes, and attend lectures and still get 60s on tests. Not keeping the C, have to retake psych now. Thanks Nus
Not a great teacher, is very textbook heavy and allows for a cheat sheet for exams, but exams are impossible. Does give extra credit through sona for 3%, not much if you do bad on all 4 of the test that she gives.
I didn't bother attending her lectures & her lecture slides barely helped you study. If you read the textbook, which I definitely recommend b/c that was the only reason I passed, and really make use of your cheat sheet for exams then you're better off. Lots of opportunities for EC though which boosted my grade. Wouldn't recommend her though
I'd say 35% percent of the test are from the textbook. That said, her other requirements are ruthless, especially the one she can manually grade you on your writings. And that she felt like she can grade you whatever grade she thinks you deserved (oops, lost 4 pts on my final grade bc she didn't like my paper). Also, she doesn't respond to emails.
Horrible professor. I love psych, and she makes it miserable. Had to read the textbook for hours a week to even get a B. Open book, open note tests, so the questions are really confusing.
literally horrible. please don't do this to yourself.
She's nice but I truly cannot comprehend most of what she says in lecture. Crams material till the class before the exam. 3 exams, online quizzes on each chapter of the book & lecture reflections, only 1 extra credit opportunity. Not much to be graded on. Bad class 4 u if you hate lecture and exam heavy courses. It's such an interesting course tho
Professor Nus is a very tough professor at UB. She seems to care about her students and their well-being in the classroom, however the material is so challenging. She expects people to memorize not only everything on the slides, but also everything she says. The class averages for our exams were basically failing, even after extra credit. DONT TAKE
in lectures she talks in circles and gets absolutely no where, confusing what I thought I already knew about psychology and really muddling my understanding of personality. Easily the worst class I have ever taken and knowing that UB lets her teach her makes me think less of them as an institution. truly disgraceful to the department of psychology.
Her lecture slides are really sparse and unhelpful for understanding the content making the only way to pass and understand content is by studying the textbook relentlessly
Gave a lecture reflection the day before thanksgiving break when nearly 3/4 of the class was missing. Just rubs me the wrong way. Not the attitude of a prof who wants their students to succeed.....
Appalling and discouraging. Taking this class was one of the biggest regrets I have in my four years at UB. Terrible communicator and even worse educator. 0/10.
Unclear course expectations at the beginning of the semester. Intensely ineffective communicator, ended up confusing me about concepts that I used to understand. tests are impossible. Everything about the instructor's communication during lecture was scatter brained and disorganized in nature. Shocked and appalled.
not understanding of circumstances that may occur outside of the classroom. Only class I needed to graduate and wouldn't offer any extra credit to push me over the passing line when I was at 62, I talked to her about it and she said to try harder next semester.
impossible, discouraging, disheartening, and disgraceful. How is she even a professor?
Very passionate about teaching and very sweet but exams are just so difficult. She gives 8 exam extra credit points but Class avgs are still in 60s-70s. Also gives feedback and extra credit for the paper. Overall Grading scale is not fair (B =82-87, B+ =88-89, A- =90-91, A =92-100) If you need this class for grad school like me, good luck!
Doesn't post cumulative grades making it very hard to track progress as a student. No make up exceptions even for the most extreme of circumstances. Not understanding and not understandable. Looking forward to never having to encounter such a terrible educator again.
So unbearable that every time I walk into her class it makes me question if I even understand the English language. Confusing, ambiguous and incomprehensible
This is a do-it-yourself class from start to finish, if that is something you're looking for sign right up but I was looking to get taught material instead of teaching it to myself. Difficult and would have failed if not for the opportunity to bring review sheets into the exams.
Professor is not clear with what is needed for exams, questions on exams sometimes don't make sense no matter how much you studied, lectures only go over part of what is needed for the exam.
The class itself isn't hard, but for the love of god read the text book. 90% of tests is from the textbook, it feels almost pointless to watch the lectures especially when what she says can seem overly convoluted. The tests are open note, so take good notes and you'll do fine. She does seem like a nice and caring person though.
Horrible class. Just avoid at all costs. Does not know what she is doing
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! My only advice is take it with anyone else and you'll have a better experience. Her lectures are like watching paint dry and also have nothing to do with what's on the exams. The exams are EXTREMELY difficult. This class should be an easy A. It's introductory psych. However, I now find myself having to retake it over the summer.
Her exams do not even cover all of the material talked about, and they also have confusing questions that are not always related to the units covered in the textbook
Please don't take PSY101 with her. Lecture slides make no sense if you do not attend class. You have to read the whole textbook to understand any of the concepts she very vaguely introduces in lecture. Her exams are awful, she acknowledges that she makes them far too difficult but does not change anything about it.
I won't ever take this professor again; the professor's lecture is boring, and she spends 30 minutes explaining a concept that should take two minutes. The only reason I attended that class was to receive lecture activity points. Her exam is heavily based on the textbook and not the lecture.
Tests were hardly comparable to anything covered in class
This lady is probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Her exams don't follow the notes at all, you have to do majority outside research if you even want to come close to passing. She says her class is do it at your own pace but the lecture quizzes time out in like 3 days. Would not take again.
The lectures are completely IRRELEVANT in terms of what assignments go off of. NEVER was a single thing discussed in lecture used on an exam. The ONLY materials in this class that matters is the 500 page textbook. Let me say that again.Lectures are USELESS and you will only be tested on information in the textbook. Terrible grader, rude in email.
Absolutely HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HER. Classes are useless. She actually accused me of cheating because I opened a test "too close to the deadline". Get ready to get reported for academic dishonesty, because this happened to 5 other students.
Use the textbook and you'll be fine. Lectures are almost always irrelevant to exams, she might sneak a lecture question in tho. Exams are so hard. Cram tf out of your cheat sheet or you will fail.
The lectures dont really matter for the quizzes or exams. Dont be fooled everything is open note but unless you read the text book and take notes you will almost never do well. Exams are 83% of your grade. The are weighted heavy. As for the research credits do them early and do 3 extra for the extra credit, youll need it to go from a C- to a C
This class has a lot of work overall. There are about 100+ pages of reading each week and about 2+ hours of lecture videos to watch, quiz (12+ questions) each week, and 9 research credits (go to the UB website to read more) which is essentially a 2+ page paper you have to write after reading a 15+ page paper. This will not be an easy A class.
Took this online, lots of lecture videos, close together due dates, and LOTS of textbook reading. You can't really get away with not reading the textbook as test questions are found mostly in there and not in the lectures. I did find the lectures enjoyable though and even though it was online, she was engaging and made the material interesting.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. Ok, she's a nice lady, but her exams are the problem here. I took this class in person, and you won't get very far with the cheat sheet that she encourages you to make. The exams are BARELY off the slides. Please just stay away from her if you can. If not, then good luck...
Hands down worst professor I've ever had. She does not care about her students at all. She went over easy concepts that aren't gonna be on the test. For material that mattered and was on the test, she flew through the information. Also, she tests on the most specific information. A level 101 class should not be this hard.
Taking her online. The test I took was heavily dependent on the textbook she has us read. Textbook chapters are long and boring. You can have printed or handwritten notes for the exam but not the textbook. The slides do not help, you will have to watch the lectures. Lectures are also long (25 to over an hour) and she post up to three weekly.
Her tests are so difficult. If you want to do well in this class, you HAVE to read and make sure you make notes on everything because her questions are so god damn specific. The questions she asks are ridiculously specific and her lectures are garbage. The book is pretty interesting but she is a terrible teacher. If you take this class, watch out!
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE A CLASS WITH THIS WOMAN. I cannot stress this enough. Never in my life have I had a more incompetent professor. You will need to read and annotate HUNDREDS of pages to get at least a decent grade in this course. Lectures are completely unrelated to this course. Your time would be better spent reading the textbook
Professor Nus emphasizes the important of critical thinking and exams. Though she does not really give her students much opportunity to succeed. If you want to succeed you will need to spend hours in the textbook. Lectures are a bunch of definitions just thrown at you. She is extremely against study guides, you will be left on your own to study.
two simple words: AVOID HER she is actually the worst professor I've ever had and taking her class was like torture. the grades for her classes are strictly based on the tests and the tests are so hard and based just on the textbook, there's no point in even showing up to class because her lectures are terrible.
Takes the class so seriously for an online class. MUST read the textbook that you have to buy in order to even pass the exams on top of about 2-3 hours of lecture recordings every week. Weekly quizzes with a writing section under lockdown browser and then 3 exams in total that are 75% of your grade. AVOID HER
WORST PROFESSOR EVER.
This professor is not. great at teaching, her voice is very annoying, and I have learned absolutely nothing. She posts poor notes that are not comprehensive even if you're reading the textbook and attending class. Poor explanation and teaching skills. The textbook is $80. I don't think she is the ideal professor for freshman students taking PSY 101
Awful professor. The material that is given in the long lectures does not apply to the difficult tests in any way. The entire grade is based on 3 tests, which are almost impossible to do well on. You can tell she just reuses the same lectures over and over and does no actual work. Worst professor I have ever had at UB.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER, AVOID HER! her exams are brutal her lectures are the most boring, life draining videos you will watch and they don't even do anything but she still says to watch them, they take hours upon hours to complete, her exams are cruel and purposely meant to throw you off your thought process, one of the worst professors ive ever had.
Her tests are next to impossible to do well on, with horribly formatted questions. Her lectures are pre-recorded from years ago with outdated information that never actually shows up on the exams. You aren't even able to go back and study from previous exams, so you never actually know what you are doing wrong. I'd give her a zero if I could.
honestly the worst professor ive had in my college career, the tests are designed for you to fail I don't know what her problem is but whatever it is, is taken out on her students. Im very disappointed that she gets paid for teaching she is awful at her job the class itself would be something I would enjoy if her voice wasn't what I was hearing.
A W F U L. I do not think I have ever stressed more than I do in this class. Her lectures are beyond long and take up so much of your time. Her lecture recordings do not help because the tests are all about the book. Avoid her at all cost. Tests are hard to pass and they are worth your whole grade.
This is the second class I've taken with Nus after the dreaded PSY101. Her tests are impossible. IMPOSSIBLE!!! the class average for this class and PSY101 were under 75. Bro do not choose this teacher if you have any choice. This is my final semester in college, and this is the worst professor I have ever had in all 4 years. Save yourself
Lectures are long and barely apply to the exam. The textbook chapters are long and sometimes boring. Advises we dedicate 3 hours a week to her class, yet the lectures per week end up adding up to around 3 hours. So, with textbook reading, taking notes, lecture videos, concept applications, and quizzes, it's more like 6-8 hours a week on this class.
Horrendous, truly the worst professor Ive ever had. The class is terribly structured.Mmost of your grade depends on difficult exams that don't match material. There's almost no way to improve your grade otherwise. Her notes are nearly blank, forcing us to create our own while trying to keep up with her disorganized, rambling lectures. Avoid her.
Please don't take Professor Nus. Find a different professor. Absolutely impossible online tests that are worth most of your grade. I did every chapter and lecture quiz and had a very good average on them, but I struggled on the tests and barely passed the class. DO NOT TAKE HER.
This professor is someone you should avoid at all costs. The exams are next to impossible, lecture videos are extremely long and don't provide any value for tests or quizzes. Just skims over everything. The book is the only tool you have, no structure just guessing as to what is needed for exams. Lecture vids are from 10YR AGO. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
Her exams are impossible. All I have to say.
Exams are so difficult. This probably will be my worst psychology class. Book is so old makes you not want to read. You have to take notes everything she say b/c here lecture notes are useless full of bullet points. There's no other professor who teaches this class. I hate the grading system 73% exam = 3 exams.
worst exams in the history of exams.
this lady has actually ruined my love for psychology.
Although a nice woman, she should not be a teacher. All of her lectures are essentially useless, and in order to get a somewhat decent grade, you need to devote all of your free time to learning information from text books that could easily be briefly discussed in lectures. Impossible to get ahold of her too. Don't take if you want to stay sane.
She's very nice, exams are way more difficult than they need to be, but so many opportunities for extra credit and she tells you 90% of what you need to know for each exam
Nus' PSY321 class is notoriously challenging. The exams are brutally difficult and the lectures don't align well with the textbook. However, using study tools like unstuck study can help you prepare effectively. Avoid this class if possible.
She is a robot. Ur on your own. She does not respond to emails.
Doesn't really teach. When she does it's not relevant information. Almost 90% of your grade in the class is decided by your performance in 4 of 5 exams. The exams are very difficult despite being open notes, mainly because she doesn't really teach. All the coursework and learning is done in the textbook.
Im still in this course but my god this is the worst class ive taken. We've only taken one exam and I already wanna kms. Please for you own safety, don't take this course with professor Nus. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!! SHE DOESNT TEACH!!!!!!!
I'm in this class right now and omg IT IS AWFUL!! This professor is TERRIBLE!! We had our first test today and NOTHING from the notes we were able to use (which have to be printed as no electronic notes or textbook material can be used) was on it. Why have an online class if you can't use online components!! Don't take this class with her!!
She is honestly terrible! She posts lectures online that are utterly useless and pointless to watch but she makes us watch them because she has quizzes imbedded within them. Tests are difficult to nearly impossible. Had our first test and almost nothing from class slides were on it, but rather textbook material (which we can't use on exams) AVOID!!
I'm honestly do not think she cares about her students at all. The lectures are horrible. The exams are unnecessarily difficult. And forget about asking her about how to succeed in this class. She will mislead you! She is not here to teach. She's here to tank your grade and push you into depression.
watching lectures and going through the book did not help me do well on the exams, it was always a struggle even after studying and having very good notes
actually awful I had to resign from the course like im begging you do not take her classes
still in the class, i honestly hope she reads her own reviews her lectures don't mean anything, yuu have to rely on the textbook (even though she decides to make up her own questions instead of them being based on the readings) she has to add more reliable resources to study for exams (over 80% of your grade) wish you good luck if you choose her
TERRIBLE ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE.
STAYYYY AWAAAAYYYYYYY. AM A CS MAJOR. AND THIS WAS MY HARDEST CLASS. EXAMS MADE NO SENSE. STUDYING DOES NOT HELP AT ALL.
She just talks and you listen and get your work done simple
Terrible professor. Absolutely would not take again. Her test had nothing to do with anything spoken about in class.
Awful class awful professor. For the love of god never take her
Her exams make absolutely no sense, they don't relate to anything she talks about. Her class average for exams is always low that should say somethin about her teaching. Never take her.
80% of grade are based on 4-5 exams and they're all based on concepts from the textbook chapters her lectures don't mean anything and her voice always sounds shakey her exam 2 class average was low and still believes she's not the problem.
Meh. Shes fine ig? like I have nothing to say about her. We barely have any work, just weekly quizzes with retakes and exams. Exams you get a cheat sheet for so literally just add everything to it. These reviews are harsh but shes really not that bad just like meh. PSY is easy tho most things are common sense
do not take this class. she does not teach, she just talks at us for an hour and a half. tests don't make sense even with textbook knowledge/cheat sheets, and she'll complain after every exam about our low scores. if you aren't passionate about psychology you'll hate it, and even if you are, she'll probably ruin it for you.
Lectures consist of rambling of buzzwords and explain what little amount of info is actually on the slide. MUST read the textbook and teach yourself, interesting book but not when piled with other classes. Voice is hard to listen to: literal nails on a chalkboard. Graded based on exams, quizzes, sona studies & surprise lecture activities(in order)
Just no…point blank done. She is terrible. Tests don't line up with anything. Lectures are pointless but she makes us watch them because she has “quizzes” imbedded within them. Stay away. Just stay away!! Oh yeah, extra credit is 5 points (whoopty doo)
This class was terrible. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.
Exams are impossible unless you read the textbook that she suggests you get on your own time, none of her content in lectures is on the exams, it's all from the textbook. Her attendance strategy is terrible and not fair to most students.
i hope professor nus reads this because u are quite literally the worst teacher ever. teaching about depression and nonsense and ur gonna give me it. i wish i got paid for being a terrible teacher just like how u are. i'm probably going to fail this class because of the bs tests she gives. dude like idk what to say like actually.
For a level 100 class this was so much harder than it needed to be. Grateful I passed. Tests are worth so much of your grade and they are outrageous. Half of the information you will study has nothing to do with the test. Attendance only matters if you show up to class on the days there is a class assignment. The lectures are pointless and boring.
Yeah no. Worst class I've taken with the worst professor I've ever encountered.
if you're good at taking notes you can learn some stuff from the lectures but most of it comes from the textbook so it is a lot of reading. You get dropped grades for the quizzes, the concept application and exams; which are all open note. An A is easy if you lock in from the beginning, which I didn't do and still managed to get a B at the last min
yo just dont take her trust she teaches u things that will not be on the test
Do not take this class unless shes only teacher available, tthis is my second time taking it
Worst proff ever. made Intro psych, 101 course super hard. avoid taking her by any cost. she wil ruin ur gpa.
Asynchronous online class. Lectures weekly and have pop quizzes embedded in them but only 1-3 questions and is super easy. Exams use lock down browser but she allows written/printed notes. Exams are rely on both her lecture AND textbook which I didn't know my first test so I didn't do as well. Pretty easy, I'd recommend PSY101 with her.
The class wasn't bad at all. The main grading is the exams but since its asynchronous they are open note. Make sure you buy the textbook take notes on that because the exams are mostly textbook questions. The lectures aren't super helpful for exams but there are embedded quiz questions in them so make sure to do those.
Very long and boring lectures which are hard to sit through. Attendance is mandatory (she does participation activities randomly). There isn't really any classwork or hw so your grade is mostly based off 4 exams. Optional final.
worst teacher dont take her , she might make you want to rethink your major
Terrible professor, exams don't reflect material taught in class, incredibly work heavy, more work than received in any classes related to my major. If you're a pysch major, I guarntee this class would make you want to change your major. Don't take this class for a pathway or any type of elective. You will want to die
Good luck passing with this professor. Every student I've tutored from her psych classes comes to me basically in tears because she makes everything way harder than it needs to be. The exams and workload are brutal for no reason. TAKE ANY OTHER PROFESSOR.
Worst professor ever. does not teach what on exams and makes them hard. TAKE OTHER PROFESSOR FOR THIs CLASS. DO NOT TAKE NUS.
I don't understand where a lot of the hate is coming from for this professor, however coming in and learning from Dr. Nus wasn't bad at all. I understand the frustration however you can find notes online and see previous questions and you should be set. Mama a A behind you.
