The best professor that I had this semester. He has great lectures, they were usually so well put together that reading the book wasn't needed if you went class.

Arthun is the man! He knows a ton about biology and makes it easy to understand. He writes his test exactly based on what he lectures about. He will do whatever necessary to help students succeed and his extremely passionate about both biology and teaching. I would definitely recommend him for any class!

Erik is probably one of the top three teachers I have ever had and I have only been in his class for a few months. He gets along with students as if they are his friends, and as long as you put in the effort he will be there to help you pass the class. No complaints about Erik at all, anyone who gets lucky enough to have him should be greatful.

Erik is so helpful and truly cares for his students. He has so many office hours where he will GIVE YOU TEST QUESTIONS the week of the test, and go over the tests with you after. If you have any questions he will without a doubt help you and is great at giving lectures and keeping them somewhat interesting.

Erik is a great teacher. He uses mnemonic devices to help you remember keys concepts on quizzes. If you study the material you will get a passing grade, you have to try to fail. You don't have to go to class because all of his lectures are online; he uses a video so you can follow the slide show while he is talking, as good as the real lecture.

Erik is awesome! I loved his class. He was so easy to understand. I barely had to read the book because he put all the information he tested on in his lectures and powerpoints. His tests are relatively easy, multiple choice; true false; matching, but I still had to study for them.

Great lectures and really enjoys what he's doing! The material can be a little tough, but if you study you'll do fine! The book wasn't needed at all because the tests are based directly from his slides. Great overall, would love to take again.

Erik is the best science teacher I've ever had. If you have the opportunity to have him as a professor, don't pass it up. He simplifies things in ways that are easy to understand & remember. You don't have to read the book at all because his powerpoints are very in-depth. If you go to his office hours he will basically reteach you whole lesson.

If you're lucky enough to get him, your Life 102 class can be an absolute breeze. Arthun makes certain you don't need the textbook even. He only lectures on what he thinks is important, and has all of his lectures are available online. If you're ever confused, just show up for 10 minutes to his office hours, he'll be happy to help.

Erik is by far one of the best professors out there. His power points are very clear on what he wants you to know and he is good at repeating the very important stuff. The book is a must have to get all the information for the exams, don't expect a good grade if you don't read the book. Clicker points are made available for attendance.

Erik is by far the best Life 102 professor at CSU. His exams are very fair. His lectures are very informative and easy to follow, especially with Echo recordings. Going in to his office hours is the most efficient way to study for exams.

I didn't attend a single lecture but watched them all online. He provides all the resources necessary for any type of student to pass, and was great about giving study guides, notes and more to students online. Erik is a great professor who is clearly passionate about what he teaches. He grades using a very small amount of criteria - 4 tests and the lab section, which is taught by a TA. Extra credit is available if you show up and answer the clicker questions correctly. The tests are all based on lecture, so the book is not necessary.

The overall class sucks. Everyone I know is currently failing this class because the material is so difficult. While the professor does a really good job with lecture, and will do anything to help you out during office hours, the class is rough. There are no group tests, so your entire grade is exams and lab. Don't buy the textbook. Just don't.

Office hours are extremely helpful in preparing for exams. He does not give unnecessary homework assignments which is much appreciated! Wish I could have this professor again!

All of his lectures are recorded and made available through Canvas. This makes it easy to not attend class, but I would recommend still going because you receive extra credit for attendance.

Life 102 was very difficult for me this semester. But, that is exactly why I took Erik's class. He is always accessible outside of class and will work his butt off to help you with anything and everything in biology. I recommend all students to take Erik if you get the chance. His classes fill up super quick too!

Erik made bio fun for me which has never ever happened but the only grade you receive is from exams so make sure you study. He's the nicest guy in the world so don't hesitate to reach out and ask for help.

Arthun is amazing. His lectures are engaging and he knows the material so well that he almost never directly reads off of the slides. For Life103 he will underline/bold/ put in red the things that will be on the exams so studying is easy. I wish I had him for Life102 too.

Not many professor could make Life 102 in a summer session interesting. However, Arthun makes it very easy to get excited about simple biology. He is the best teacher I have encountered at CSU.

He records his lectures. I talked to him for a good 10 -15 minutes after class one day about something I didn't think I would ever care about, thats how great he is!

Best professor ever. He really loves to teach and is super funny and enthusiastic. If you can take his class do it! you do have to show up to class and reading the textbook is also really helpful, but other than iclicker questions on occasion the only other graded assignments are tests.

If you need LIFE 102, take Erik's class. It can be a tough class for people who aren't good in bio but he tries to make sure that everyone understands and takes a lot of his own time to help. No homework, just studying. Tests can be challenging but a lot of his questions are straight from the book, clicker questions, or previous tests.

If you get the chance to take Life 102 with him, I highly recommend taking it; his classes fill up quick. Erik made Bio so much easier, I think I only opened the textbook once so don't bother buying it. All of the test questions come from the lecture. He didn't over complicate any subjects, in fact he just makes sure you know exactly what you need to and nothing more. Go to his office hours if you can! They helped me out tremendously.

This course is almost a universal requirement for graduation so there will always be hundreds of students in this class, which means he can only ever lecture. He does scatter his office hours through the week so you have several opportunities to meet with him. Tests are not bad at all, very straightforward. He makes times for questions and jokes.

Life 102 with Erik was awesome. The homework was always online and wasn't incredibly time consuming. While the class was difficult itself, he did an excellent job at explaining the concepts and was always really good about answering questions. If you have the opportunity to take Life 102 or 103 with Erik, DO IT. I only had him for Life 103 but he was AMAZING. He made the class so enjoyable and was such a personable professor. Amazing! This class was interesting and easy. As long as you go to class and then study the notes you take before the tests, you can easily get an A. One of four tests will be dropped and a good chunk of the final has the same questions that were on previous tests. Make sure you go to lab which is beyond easy and you can get an A no problem.

This is hands down the best professor Ive had at CSU. Hes hilarious and makes the lectures very interesting. He has very clear easy to read and understand powerpoints. Test are not bad so long as you actually do the studying, readings from the textbook are not required. I truly hope he teaches more of my classes further in my academic career.

Take LIFE102 with Erik! He gives amazing lectures and makes topics that are usually difficult to understand very simple and easy. He is very caring and hilarious. LIFE102 is known for being a semi-hard class, so it's smart to get a really good professor that can actually teach you the content and erik can definitely teach you the content (he's been doing it for 8 years so he knows what he's doing). it's clear to his students that he wants to help you pass - he won't make it unnecessarily hard for no reason.

Dr. Arthun is seriously a good guy. He usually has a part of class dedicated to group discussions and he goes around checking on people to make sure they understand. On top of that, my class had NO FINAL EXAM with the only grades being weekly-ish homework and quizzes. He's also super passionate about what he teaches and is really down-to-earth.

Erik gives great lectures and is very down to earth. You can tell he wants to make sure we actually understand the material, and he provides good analogies to try and make some of the concepts easier. He has cancelled class a few times this semester and then you have to watch the lectures outside of class, but the extra work isn't too bad.

As an online student for the course, I had no real interactions with him. I was only able to talk to my one LA and did not get much help. The course is not set up well for online students but the lectures seem good for in person students.

Also definitely the best Life102 professor on campus, friends didnt like their other Life 102 professors. I would recommend him so much and would even suggest you switch your whole schedule around to be in his section.

Erik is a wonderful professor. The powerpoints are always accessible on Canvas, as well as study guides for the exams. After the exams, he makes you turn in the scantron sheet (obviously) but allows you to take your exam to practice for the final. His exams are a bit tougher, but the other work is easy. If you are taking LIFE 102, no matter what, this class is going to be very very difficult. Professor Arthun is funny and he tries to make class more fun by telling stories. Attendance is absolutely mandatory if you want to pass. Online homework almost every week and the tests are pretty hard. Overall, Professor Arthun is a 9/10. Class is a 5/10.

His online tests are super easy because of the work you do in class. His class is based a lot less on lectures and more on understanding because there are a lot of discussions in the class to make sure you understand what you are learning.

Honestly I don't know much about him, as he canceled class what seemed like every other day. It annoys me a little bit, because I am paying to go to classes just for them to be canceled. His tests are super easy if you take detailed notes, because all of them are online, and his lectures are funny when he has them.

I just wanted to say that Erik has been an absolute pleasure to have as a professor, he is funny, and it's hilarious to look around and see if anyone caught onto the joke that he slid into his lectures. He comes to class prepared with a page of what points he is going to touch on and breaks down every topic to where you can understand them.

He missed a lot of lectures this semester due to sick kids, so many old lectures were posted online. I missed a week due to my own sick kids, but since the other professor held the videos, I couldn't keep up. He made sure I knew where we were in the notes. His slides are what he covers, adding where needed. His exams are based on what he covered.

Erik, is an amazing teacher who you can feel his passion for his craft when he teaches and it just makes you want to pay attention. He is very good at explaining things simply, this is a very information dense class and I didn't do any extra studying or extra reading if you just attend lectures and take notes you will get an A in this class.

Arthun is great, except for how often he cancels class (even before exams). I learned so much from him in the time he was in class. He explained difficult concepts really well. If you ask him a question on an exam, he will work with you to find the right answer. Overall, he's an awesome dude and taught me a lot.

As someone who got Dale first half of the semester and Erik the second half, the difference between them is jarring. If you pay attention in Erik's lectures, you will get an A. In fact, you'll get an A while having fun because he has a fun personality without it being awkward or forced. He does cancel lectures... a lot, which is both good and bad.

Lectures are where he will make the content simpler and ensure its digestable.Hes a super fun guy too. Overall,easy class if you put in the work and get help when needed.

Erik is one of the coolest humans, and definitely one of the coolest teachers to ever exist. He is very accommodating and I looked forward to every lecture. As long as you show up, pay attention, and ask for help, you will pass his class.

Very chill and easy tests

Erik is one of the best professors ive had. Very understanding and caring when it came to my accommodations. Wish I could have my other professors be as amazing as him.

Actually knows what he's talking about and explains things well. Exams were straight forward from the slides. I enjoyed going to lectures and he was overall a great professor.

He is really good at explaining concepts in a variety of ways to help understanding. An exam and 2 or so homeworks were dropped at the end. His exams are very easy. Presentations will explicity say key concepts that'll show up on exams. There were a few instances of cancelled classes that changed the circurcilum at the end.

Everyone knows that life 102 is hard and I think it would have been way worse if Erik was not the professor. Although the exams are difficult and are hard to get a good grade if you do not fully grasp the content, if you have to take this class Erik is the best option. He was good at explaining content and cared about his students.

I recommend Erik so much! I loved having him and even though it was a huge lecture class, he still made everyone feel seen and involved. Lectures had me engaged all the time and homework was easy. Exams were very similar to study guide and going to the study groups he provides before the exams were so helpful! TAKE HIM

Awesome teacher with a great sense of humor. Almost every class is a lecture but he is very engaging and knows what he's talking about. He's understanding and I was able to makeup assignments I missed and one of the exams.

Erik makes this tough class manageable. Attend lectures, utilize the textbook, and take advantage of study tools like Unstuck AI - it really helps with exam prep. He's a knowledgeable and approachable professor who genuinely cares about student success.

I had Erik for LIFE 102 and 103. I found both of these classes easy (if you don't there are lots of resources), so I didn't attend lecture much. Erik cares about the students, knows what he's talking about, and seems to enjoy the material. No in-class points, everything is recorded on Echo360. One test dropped. Make sure you get a good TA for lab!

I had Erik for both LIFE102 and LIFE103 and he's such an amazing teacher. I loved the informal but well-structured style of his classes and he made every lecture entertaining. He's really good at making complex concepts easy to understand through helpful analogies. He's consistently kind and always there to answer questions during or after class.

Pretty good professor. Just lectures in class and homework about once or twice a week. He's nice and responds quickly when contacted. also makes jokes from Time to time which makes the whole class laugh. Would take again!

If you are taking life 102, take it from Erik. He creates an amazing atmosphere in class and is very easily reachable outside of class if needed. Super smart and lectures are challenging, but easy to understand and follow if you attend class every day. The homework assignments can be long but there are so few of them that it doesnt really matter.

Lectures were so interesting and he genuinely cares about his students and their well being.

Great professor, but is dragged down by incredibly weird questions that even the TAs didn't fully know the response to due to how confusing they were phrased. Pair that with a lab you have to take that has very little relevance to the lecture and the AWFUL McGraw Hill assignments, and no matter how great Arthun is, the class is awful.

He does teach hard topics to grasp especially because its mainly first-year student class. He teaches these topics very well. He cares about all the students and wants them to learn. His teaching style I would say is a storytelling one. He genially wants you to understand and love the topic like him

Erik is without a doubt the best professor I've ever worked with. He is extremely understanding and stays on top of his work. Biology is difficult, but he does a phenomenal job teaching the course 11/10.

A very engaged and comprehensible lecturer. Kind and compassionate to all that show an interest in biology. Highly recommend speaking to him after class if you are curious about anything related to the lecture, MIP or biology in general.

I really like him. He's a super duper nice guy, and also silly. He does make you interested in the subject matter, but he does a lot of talking about topics that are not on his slides (which he speeds through) so it's hard to tell what you need to know and will be tested on. The class itself is quite difficult but it is a joy to have him for LIFE.

Very nice and helpful. TAs were also helpful when asked. He clearly cares about his students and the topics he is teaching. The only thing is that the lectures get a bit boring. He tends to ramble and uses comparisons that not everyone would get. He is very nice, but it is hard to make yourself go to the class.

erik was great, you could tell he was very enthusiastic about teaching and the subject of biology. pretty easy as long as you show up or learn the material yourself. just do well on the tests and you are good to go.

So far one of my favorite professors I've ever had! He makes the content easy to understand even when it's a difficult topic. Cracks a lot of jokes that makes the content fun to hear about. My favorite thing though is you can tell he loves teaching and the topic, which makes class so enjoyable!

Erik is super chill and two of our exams were online this semester because I genuinely just think he wants us all to pass the class and have good grades, so as long as you put in the effort, he makes the class easy!

He was a really good teacher, it was kinda a hard class so if you're not good at biology I would join a study group, I did that and it was so so helpful and made everything a lot more easier to learn, but overall a very good and interesting class, I really liked it.

One of my favorite professors of all time. He cares so much about teaching and making sure you understand. If all professors taught this way it would be awesome. He is so kind, and the lectures are genuinely intriguing. It got me so so excited about biology, he made me want to switch my major. TAKE HIM!!

It felt like his goal was for his students to genuinely learn!
