Without a doubt my favorite teacher here. Lectures are very clear, include video examples of experiments, he's very approachable, and answers questions well. Really nice and funny guy, I genuinely enjoyed going to class. Lectures are all online, SONA for extra credit, very accurate exam review sheets-only complaint is your grade is entirely exams
Great professor. Going to lecture is actually an enjoyable part of my day because Prof. Cheries is very good at explaining concepts and he's nice to listen to. And to look at ;) Not hard, just go to class. You don't really need the textbook, even though he assigns readings. 3 Exams in the semester plus an optional final and lowest grade dropped
awesome class. definitely take it, prof cheries is the man. he's also nice to look at...and has a nice soothing voice too ;) subject matter is interesting and not difficult, DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK, go to class and you'll be good. 3 exams and an optional final, one dropped, all mult choice. also he was in the UMMB and thats awesome,he has bando love
Best professor ever! Lectures are always interesting, and often include video clips and pictures. Exams are based on the lectures, so if you attend class you can do well. He also has a sense of humor which is nice (Baby Radio and Developmental Moment of Zen!). I would definately recommend this class!
Fabulous professor. Show up, pay attention, take notes, review them before the exam, and you'll get an A. He manages to make even fairly dull and pedantic material seem interesting.
Good professor who seems really nice. Fair tests and interesting material. The only downside is that for those of us who do not take notes very quickly, he moves through his PowerPoint slides VERY quickly. It got really frustrating sometimes. Don't mean to be the Debbie Downer here cause I liked him otherwise.
Great professor with a sense of humor. Learned a lot and looked forward to going to class. I believe he genuinely enjoys teaching. Fun use of video during lectures and very helpful if you have questions about the material. Highly recommend.
I had him for my "Origins of Knowledge" class, which was a Psychology advanced-level undergraduate seminar. The materials that we learned were really interesting. The best part was the slides that he prepared for his lectures (and also the lectures itself) as just by attending the lectures, you would be more than half-prepared for the exams !
Prof. Cheries is awesome! He's so nice, loves what he does and is willing to help anyone who asks for it. Take this class!
He loves babies! His lectures are straightforward, he uses lots of examples and videos and most of them have to do with babies. Personally I would have preferred to learn about a wider age of children but if cute videos about babies is your thing, this is the class for you!
This prof is young and cracks jokes during class. The material is sometimes not the most interesting stuff but he makes it fun with videos of cute babies! The tests are hard. You should go to class and study if you want to do well.
Professor is great and very passionate about the material. He tries to make the class entertaining and the material easy to understand. Easy class if you go to class and do the short assignments. The material is not super interesting, but the professor tries to make it engaging.
Very passionate about the subject and dedicated to helping his students learn. Plus-he's incredibly handsome. Come to class, remember to do the assignments, and you'll be fine.
Prof. Cheries is such a funny and intelligent teacher.. Though the content of the actual class wasn't specifically interesting to me he always found ways to make the class interesting and funny. He gives opportunity for extra credit as well if you want to boost your grade. I highly recommend taking a class with him.
His exams were wicked hard almost the whole class got a c or below on the first two exams. He is very helpful when you went to his office hours. Exams sucked. Not as easy of a class as I thought
my favorite teacher here so far! I just took his final and it was an absolute gift. He really rewards students who bother to study and meet with him to go over their old exams. Don't let the slackers scare you!
great lecturer and wicked helpful prof. REALLY cares about his students doing well. met with students for 4 hours straight before our last exam! scales his tests and gives a ton of extra credit. you'd have to be asleep to do bad in this class...
He's so cute and funny. He cares a lot about his students, but I didn't find the tests easy. You really should read his review sheets, go to all exams. I wouldn't bother buying the book, I opened it maybe once. But overall, great class. Kept us engaged with funny videos and just overall a really cool and intelligent young guy.
Really awesome guy. Wants everyone to do well. Lectures usually pretty interesting. Exams can be a little tricky though, and the focus is mostly on one age range
Love! drops lowest test. all hw assignments are an automatic 100 if u do them which is worth 30 percent of the grade. Dont buy the book; I didnt and still got an A. He puts his slides online so in class write down everything he says not whats on the slides so you can go back and remember what the slides are about. so many cute baby videos!!!
Erik stands out from other professors in the Psych department. He's genuinely concerned with his students welfare in his class. In fact, he often reiterates this point, making sure everyone's aware of the resources available to them. He's approachable, and very helpful!
One of the best professors at UMass. Really cares about his work and his teaching, and is a great lecturer. Shows a lot of baby study videos which are cute and also informative. Exams aren't hard if you study, and the assignments are not hard at all and you always get a 100. It's no surprise this class fills Bartlett 65 to its max capacity.
He's so helpful it's outrageous. Funny and adorable, makes sure that the power points aren't boring as death, and includes lots of videos. Tests are easy, because he teaches well--clear and concise. Recommended!
really awesome teacher. teaches very clearly and has a nice sense of humor. definitely recommend.
He's nice, very approachable and helpful! Many cute baby videos! Exams are not hard as long as you study your notes and the study guide. Don't need the textbook. Definitely my favorite class!
His teaching is clear and he keeps students engaged. I love the powerpoints, the homework assignments are interesting, the grading is more then fair. Oh and LADIES, he is so handsome. Guys, don't worry he's really chill too. Great class and a fabulous teacher who really cares and inspires you to learn more!
A great professor. Erik is so helpful and his lectures are engaging and fun! Exams are pretty straightforward and the final is optional. He is so cute and really easy to listen to!
Excellent professor. Appropriately funny, Friendly guy, Easy to approach, Straightforward material and Straightforward tests.
His exams are straight forward, based mainly on his lectures. So although attendance is not mandatory, it's extremely helpful to go to class and take additional notes on his lectures. No need to copy the lecture word for word. He takes the best 3 exams out of 4!
Pretty straightforward guy. Lectures do get a little boring if you're not super interested in the material. Exams are all multiple choice and doable plus he offers multiple avenues of extra credit. Moodle assignments are a piece of cake.
The class is interesting and he's a great teacher, but the exams are tough. You have to put in more time than you think and questions are worded in a tricky way.
Cheries is a great professor. He is very passionate about the material he teaches and really wants his students to spark interest in subject and do their best. His lecture slides are sometimes unclear, but if you ask for clarification he will definitely help. Final is optional. Great class.
Erik is awesome. Take his class and you won't be disappointed.
Really good professor! He genuinely loves what he teaches and helping students succeed! I took this class for fun and do not regret it, the topic is so interesting!
I really enjoy Erik's class! The homework assignments are very easy and the exams are fair. His lectures are pretty interesting and he shows a lot of baby videos. He is also a funny guy and tries to make jokes during lecture. This class ended up being better and more interesting than I expected it to be. My mind gets blown pretty frequently
Great classes, and a good guy, but he's all over the place. Papers have little to no given guidelines; exams are insanely specific, even when he says they're not. It's an interesting class, but has been the hardest yet to do well in due to this. He cares, but his actions with what he actually provides you doesn't exactly support his intentions.
Amazing professor. Best one I've ever had. He genuinely wants everyone to do well and get a good grade. He is very passionate about what he is teaching and makes the lectures really fun and interesting.
I loved this class. Great professor, super funny. I highly recommend taking it. If you take notes you'll do great on the tests. His questions are straight forward and based off what he says in class. One of my favorite professors so far at umass.
I have taken several courses with Dr. Cheries, and he is definitely one of the best professors I've had. He is passionate about teaching and truly wants his students to succeed. Sure, exams and papers are tough but if you ask questions and attend class, they are much more manageable. The content is interesting, he has a good sense of humor.
Really great professor - can see he genuinely wants students to enjoy what he teaches and do well in the class. Content maybe a little too basic, but he has to cater for all abilities. Online assignments are interesting and opinion-based so no right or wrongs. Can earn extra credit also!!
Before this class I was not interested in developmental psych but I took this as a requirement and my outlook has changed! Professor Cheries makes the material interesting through his hands-on knowledge of the subject and clear passion. His tests are not difficult but be ready to understand the results of many psych experiments.
There are only two components to the class, exams (of which there are 3) and homework assignments (there are 10 over the semester). This can be challenging if you don't do well on an exam, or miss a homework assignment because each one is a big part of the grade. Also, his lectures are kind of boring at times.
Lecture heavy, most of them are good, occasionally boring - Graded on 3/4 tests (average difficulty) and 9/10 homework assignments (easy but tedious), drops the lowest one - If you do good on first 3 tests, don't need to take the final - Lots of foundational psych stuff, if you even took HS psych it'll be a lot of review.
Great guy/professor overall. The class was a little boring, but he incorporated some interesting videos and reading assignments that made it better. Some of the homework readings are difficult to understand, but if you put in the effort you'll get full credit. Very available and eager to help students succeed and always answers emails promptly.
Attendance is not mandatory but participation is graded. No textbook but there are reading assignments for most classes. Clear guidelines and extra credit provided. Always there to help, great professor overall.
He's a great professor. Probably one of the best I have had at UMass. He really did take student feedback seriously and was very accommodating. There's three exams in class and the final is optional (really just to boost your grade).
I look forward to going to this class! Super nice guy and very genuine. He makes the class feel like a small 20 person class just by the way he talks to us. He really cares about how students do and his lectures are always very fun and interesting.
Best professor at UMass. His lectures are something to look forward to every day. They are pretty entertaining and interesting. He is super helpful. The exams aren't hard if you review the slides and go to class.
Erik is super genuine and funny! Although attendance was not mandatory, I went to every class because lectures were so interesting. He shows lots of videos which makes the class go by quickly and the exams are pretty easy!
Prof Cheries is so cute and passionate about the class. His tests aren't bad if you study the slides beforehand, and if you do well on the three tests during the semester, you don't have to take the final. There are "hot topic" assignments which are interesting and easy and a good extra grade boost. Also you can do SONA extra credit to help too
Great teacher, do the study guides, go to the review sessions if possible and reach out if you have any questions. Tests are straightforward and based on lecture and the lecture is always interesting.
I LOVED Erik's class so much, he is very relatable and his lectures are quite interesting. If you want a good grade in the class, skipping the lectures are an impossibility since the tests are very lecture-based. You'll want to go to them though! He's readily available over email or his office hours and he is very kind and understanding.
Erik is by far my favorite professor I have had at UMass, and I am not a Psych major. He is so genuine, makes class so fun, and is so passionate about developmental psych. 3 exams, 70% of your grade, and 9 homework assignments worth 30%. The exams are generally straight from lecture. Doesn't require much effort, but you'll want to put the effort in
one of the best professors I have had at UMass. This class convinced me to be a psychology major. He makes the class extremely enjoyable and is always willing to help anyone. 3 non cumulative exams and one optional final as well as 10 homework assignments throughout the semester. Amazing class
Cheries is a great guy and it's obvious he loves the material he teaches and wants his students to love it too. Shows funny videos a lot and makes jokes. Some exam questions can be very specific though which has thrown a lot of people off. But he's accommodating and wants to help everyone understand the material and get a good grade.
He is the best professor in the department and potentially at the school. lectures are beyond engaging. I trek in the snow for those lectures and its worth it every time. is exams are fair and critical knowledge of the topic not trivial memorization. definitely take a class with him if possible.
Prof. Cheries is one of the best professors in the psych department. He is very knowledgeable and makes the info fun and easy to learn. Your grade consists of 3 exams and online assignments about every other week. Exams aren't too hard as long as you study. Final is optional, but can replace an exam score. I would definitely take this class again
Erik is the best professor I have had at UMass. His lectures are super interesting and he's very funny. Don't worry too much if you don't do well on an exam because homework can bring your grade up!
I LOVE ERIK. He is literally the best and for him teaching this class the first time wow 10/10 loved it thanks
Erik Cheries is one of the best psych professors. He makes the material easy to understand and he definitely knows what he taking about. He has the class do online Moodle assignments covering topic such as gender roles, attachment, and cognitive development. If you have a chance to take him, DO IT.
I love Professor Cheries. Without a doubt my favourite professor here at UMASS. He made class so interesting and really inspired me to continue psychology. His exams are also very fair. Not to mention, he is so handsome! Too bad i didnt get a chance to take any of his other classes.
Prof Cheries is the most impressive speaker I have had at UMass. He is engaging, personable, crazy smart, and hilarious so I actually looked forward to going to class. His exams were somewhat difficult but if you attend most of the lectures/semi read the textbook you will be fine. big fan of the class highly recommend
Erik is one of the best professors at Umass. He makes lectures so interesting and engaging. I have never once WANTED to go to an hour long lecture before this, but his forensic psychology is so awesome. He is the best and you NEED to take his class before you graduate. Reasonable tests and assignments and he is super friendly and accessible!
I LOVE Professor Cheries. I had him for forensics and he's knowledgeable yet respectful for such a heavy topic, and he's also engaging and just fun to listen to. He started every class by playing a crime-related song, and it was something I looked forward to. I hate remote learning because his lectures were so interesting.
I took devlelopmental and forensic psychology with him, he does easy interesting homework once a week or less. Funny guy he's cool
Professor Cheries was honestly one of the best professors Ive had. He made his classes entertaining, explained in great detail, and added amazing videos for his topics. If youre planning or you have to take Psych350 then take him!!! He is the best!!!
Erik is the most honest teacher or professor I have ever had. He was amazing at promoting dialogue and making sure all relevant perspectives were introduced. Extremely funny and very thoughtful. 100% would take again.
great professor v funny and promotes discussion. class is very easy just read 1-2 nytimes articles a week, short reply in a forum, and discuss in class. super easy and it's fun talking about relevant news with classmates. def would take again. no final exam.
Professor Cheries is the best professor I've had at umass! The class is asynchronous but he provides amazing lectures and explains all of the concepts so well. Not too many assignments at all and what he's given us has been interesting and worthwhile. The exams aren't bad, and we have the option to not take the final if we're happy with our grade!
Prof Cheries gives so much work! Even in an async class, he gives us 3-4 hours of lecture every week along with an assignment due every week. Exams are tough, 40-50 questions, closed notes. Overall, loads of work but if you work hard you can get an A.
Professor Cheries is well spoken and puts effort into the material he teaches. Lectures were great, assignments were an easy 100 and exams were a guaranteed 95 if you actually watched did the assigned work. Closed book, which was actually reinforced even though it was an online course.
Professor Cheries is by far the best teacher I've had at UMass. He puts a lot of effort into each lecture to make it entertaining and easy to learn. He obviously cares about his students and wants them to succeed. The exams aren't bad if you attend the lectures and do the homework assignments. He's the best!
Prof Cheries is a fantastic professor! He is so passionate about the subject and super accessible outside of class. You are really only required to do 1 hot topic assignment every week which is always interesting and there are three exams + 1 optional final. Take solid notes and clarify questions. Hands down one of the best classes at UMass !!!
Professor Cheries is one of the best professors I had. The material could be dark but his lectures are so entertaining. He has a great way of explaining things. This is a really fun class and an easy A. I took it online but I wish that I took it in person cuz its probably more engaging.
Professor Cheries is one of the nicest, more accommodating professors I've ever had at UMass. Attendance optional (live lectures uploaded right after class), reasonable, quick and interested homework each week. Exams at 70% of the grade, but they are super reasonable if you watch all the lectures, and the final is optional and can replace lowest!
Professor Cheries is by far the best professor here! I was not looking forward to taking developmental psych but his amusing lectures and passion for the subject made it my favorite class. Attendance was not mandatory as lectures were posted after class, but I chose to go to every lecture because he made it so fun!
Professor Cheries was one of my favorite professors! His lectures were absolutely awesome and it was the only class I've ever actually wanted to go to. I learned a lot from the class and found it fun, interactive, and informative.
cheries is the best prof at umass in my opinion. he is just so good at getting everyone interested in what he is teaching. lectures are not boring, shows so many videos and examples for what he talks about. definitely take this class with him.
I LOVE Erik. This was my favorite class, amazing lectures. He is a very talented professor and keeps you interested. Extra credit was offered so this class is an easy A as long as you do your part (homework, studying, etc.) Class was recorded but I never wanted to miss it. Highly recommend Erik, no matter the course you're taking.
Prof Cheries was great! His lectures were super interesting and he is clearly very into the subject matter. Tests were definitely difficult, but very doable if you take the time to study. You can tell that he wants his students to succeed. Loved the class.
I LOVE Erik, honestly the best professor I had this semester. He is by far the funniest professor. His tests are hard if you don't take ur time on them because the wording is super tricky. Quinnehtukqut, my favorite TA to exist. He is super helpful as well as Erik. You just need to be careful, again, about his test. Hw- easy once a week.
I LOVE Erik. You can tell he cares about his students but his tests on the other hand are very tricky, you need to study a lot and his questions can be dirty sometimes. He's totally worth it though. His hws are once a week and super easy. Quinnehtukqut is honestly the BEST ta to exist.
Professor Cheries is such a great guy. I enjoyed going to class as he always made it fun and interesting. Exams are not bad as long as you put in the work to study. There is usually a short HW due every Wednesday and 3 exams total. Final is optional cause he drops your lowest exam grade. Loved Psych 350 and learned a lot!
Erik Cheries is a fantastic professor and I love him. His lectures are super interesting all though he does move fast. But he posts all slides online. His tests are more difficult but not too bad and the TAs have review sessions before the exams. He only assigns one assignment a week and they are fairly easy to complete but sometimes time consuming
I really enjoyed this class with Cheries. He makes his lectures interactive and engaging and the material was so interesting that it actually made me want to go to class. Def need to go to the class to take good notes for the exams. They're not open note and in person but pretty straightforward if you study.
Prof Cheries was honestly the best teacher I've had during college. His lectures were at 9 thrice a week but I made sure to attend all of them. Lectures are fun and interesting and the homework even more so. Prof Cheries single-handedly made me want to change my major to psychology!
Professor Cheries is genuinely the greatest professor I've gotten the pleasure of having. He is one of those teachers who genuinely cares about all his students, and genuinely wants you to learn about the material which he is extremely passionate about. If you attend lectures, take notes on their content, and study, you should ace his three exams.
ONE OF MY FAV PROFESSORS - this class is so interesting - he is so reasonable with his workload - small weekly assignments, AMAZING LECTURES, 3 in person exams but final exam optional - they are not hard if you study. Attendence not mandatory and lectures posted online. He is so sweet and his lectures are so engaging - TAKE THIS CLASS
Hes adorable, I enjoyed learning from him thoughrougly.
Very engaging lectures but challenging exams
Professor Cheries is so passionate about what he teaches and you can tell he loves being a professor. The lectures in this class are really engaging and cover very interesting topics such as the origins of perception and social psychology. Exams are quite hard and there are regular readings/responses, but the class is worth it. Would def recommend!
One of my favorite professors! He makes the lectures so interesting and fun. Exams require a lot of studying, but thats a small price to pay cause his classes are one of the best!
I loved this class, it's a great seminar to take if you are a Psych major and need the seminar requirement. You learn a lot about where our skills and beliefs originate, as well as animal behavior. The exams are very hard and require a LOT of studying, and attendance is necessary to get a good grade on the exams. Definitely worth taking!
literally the goat. incredible lectures, exams can be difficult but as long as you study and go to the review sessions offered before the exam, you should be fine. Exams count for a lot, but he makes you want to work hard on them. love professor cheries he is awesome
Professor Cheries is the best prof I have had! Psych 321- Forensic is the most interesting class ever, he makes you want to do the assignments and attend lectures. He is so passionate about what he teaches, and wants everyone to do well. The exams are 70% of your grade so you need to study! The other 30% is one easy weekly assignment. Love him!!!
I had him for developmental and was SO excited I got to be in a class with him again. He's a great professor, cares about his students, and breaks up some hard content with humor to make it less heavy. His tests are decently hard, but the assignments he assigns can 100% help boost your grade and he makes them fun to do. Take this class if you can!
prof cheries is super nice, passionate about what he does, and a great lecturer. i found the content in this class so interesting and I really like the way he presented it (even the textbook was interesting to read and not too complicated). that being said, the class is test heavy and the exams are incredibly difficult. still worth it though IMO!
I have never had such a passionate & amazing professor. His slides are very engaging & visually appealing, even including in-depth transitions. It's important to listen & attend lectures as he says things that aren't covered in the slides. The exams are rather difficult but it is a COLLEGE exam so its makes sense. HW are simple & intersting
Great professor! You can tell he is passionate about what he teaches. I am going to try to get him again in future psych classes. I never felt overwhelmed or stressed by his class. Everything you learn is very interesting and the test are not hard as long as you study!
i love erik, but boy would i love him more if he didn't make the tests so incredibly hard. hes super passionate about the subject and is eager to have his students succeed. was also super helpful and provided accommodations when needed. attending lectures is key as he discusses a lot of studies which he may ask qs on in tests. 10/10!
The exams can be a little harder than you expect, but imo they are just right in the amount of stuff you should be studying/learning from the course. Homework is simple weekly online assignments. Definitely either show up to lecture or watch the lectures online. You dont need to read the textbook if you're good at psych but it'll definitely help!
As someone who is a bad test taker, the tests are hard! I studied a lot and got a B. He's a nice and funny guy. Tests make up most of your grade and then he has occasional assignments that are easy. You can do SONA studies for EC. Interesting content covered! Tests are in person with no notes.
He is an amazing professor, and very passionate about what he teaches. The tests are very difficult, they are in person no notes and he is very tricky with his wording. There are weekly hw assignments that take about an hour (not too bad). His attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going as he puts on videos that are on the test in class.
I didn't think I would like Forensic Psychology but this class is a hidden gem. Yes, his exams are a little on the difficult side but his office hours are super helpful! He makes it known that he and the TA's want you to pass. Take this class and take it with him!!! Don't be intimidated about the exams, the class is worth it
Professor Cheries gives amazing lectures. However, he is hard to reach. He takes many days to respond to emails if he responds at all. Additionally, the exams are very difficult. They are in person and you are not able to use any notes or a flash card. I highly recommend reading the textbook when studying for exams.
Only non-mandatory class I would sometimes go to simply because it was that enjoyable. Forensic and developmental. Jolly fellow.
Professor Cheries is amazing! His lectures are honestly great, the homework each week is very insightful and easy to complete. The exams are a bit tough but everything covered is in the lecture slides / textbook. Attendance not mandatory but I would recommend going :)
He's really passionate about this subject which makes the lectures are engaging. Tests are in person with no notes, I didn't find them to be too hard, but you definitely have to study for them and read the textbook. Homework is very interesting and mostly easy. He also provides multiple options for extra credit. Great class overall!
Such a nice and caring professor! Interesting class, exams are 70% of grade, weekly HW assignment. In person exams, not bad if you study, drops lowest. EC with SONA up to 3%. Taking him again for 391 seminar. Textbook helps explain concepts, he explains more then what is on slides so pay attention and you'll be good!
I don't think another 5.0 for Cheries is gonna help, but regardless, take Cheries. His lectures were engaging and he genuinely wants everyone in his class to succeed. TA's are helpful, and there are many resources available. Just study for the tests, they're really the only "hard" part, but you'll want to do well anyways.
I love this man - his exams are a little bit tricky but I seriously loved this class. He is so funny and makes lecture very interesting. Echo 360 available if you don't want to go. 3% of SONA also available. Study hard for exams and you're good. I would recommend taking at least one of his courses in your time here.
this man is so fine.
One of the best professors I've had; Erik is an amazing lecturer and incredibly knowledgeable about what he teaches. Exams were difficult, but you won't have trouble if you know the material. Go to review sessions, the TAs are always there to answer any questions! Wonderful teacher, funny, engaging, I learned so much in this class.
Professor Cheries makes this class really engaging. Exams can be tricky, but going to lecture and using resources like unstuck AI help a lot. He cares about student success - take this course if you can!
Easily the best lecturer I've had so far at Umass. Unless you like your lectures dry please take a class with this man, you will not regret it. I'm on my second course with him and I have zero regrets. His tests can be a bit tricky but if you take good notes and focus on what's on the study guide you won't have problems.
He is an amazing professor and you can tell that he really cares about his students doing well. I would 100% rec taking this class. Also, it's just interesting as a whole and he does a great job at keeping it fun for the students.
I love Cheries. Best lectures in the psych department, and his exams are 95% lecture-based and easy if you review the lecture material. His lectures are so funny and entertaining.
Amazing professor and a great course. He cares so much about his students and it shows.
Professor Cheries is a great lecturer. He does a great job of incorporating current info, he also loops in the homework assignment responses as a way to keep us connected in such a big class. I've taken 2 classes with him and I loved both, If you're a psych student or even if you are not, take his classes he is a great teacher. He actually teaches!
One of the best professors I've had. Truly cares about the material and your success in the course, and lectures in a way that feels engaging for the whole class. Textbook doesn't seem necessary at times, but it's needed for the major exams. Homework connects material with contemporary examples to aid understanding. Great class, great professor!
This guy can kick rocks. Lecture is so boring it's hard to stay awake, notes need to be taken on EVERYTHING (like “what videos were watched in class”), exams are soooo hard for no reason, and I feel like he just makes stuff up something's because half the junk about babies just seems wrong.
he talks a lot with minimal information on the slide so you have to really pay attention to what hes saying. his tests are tricky and are worth a huge percentage of your grade. hes a good teacher and very knowledgeable, you just have to study every detail of everything he says because his test questions are incredibly specific. hes very nice tho
Erik is a nice guy, but his exams are insane. Instead of comprehending content, you need to memorize which silly 10-second video he played in class. VERY lecture-heavy, be prepared to take notes on everything he says because it's all fair game for exams. I want to love him, but he is doing too much for a psych class.
I'm taking him right now for Psych 350, and boy you better watch out. He doesn't joke around with his test. I had too many pages of notes during lecture. You have to listen to everything he says. The tests are HARD. You will most likely need to take the optional final. Questions are confusing and studying everyday for 5 hours won't help at all.
Exams are a little tricky, but he is genuinely one of the best profs in the psych department. Highly recommend
I Love this guy. Yeah, his tests can be hard, but he drops the worst grade and the final is optional. The homework is very fun to do (in my opinion) and it's worth a good chunk of your grade!! Almost guaranteed a 10/10 if you do it correctly and answer honestly. His lectures are long, but he records them and I watch at home. He's very fun to watch.
By far the best professor I've had at umass. I haven't taken any other psych classes here and was so impressed with his competency as a lecturer and genuine care for students. He should be teaching OTHER professers how to teach. Very manegable to get an A just go to lecture. I never read the textbook
Interseting homeworks! Exams can be tricky but as long as you go to class or watch lectures you will be fine. also #dilf
Clearly passionate about the topic and an engaging and humorous lecturer. Exams aren't hard at all if you read the slides. Go to class :)
Absolutely loved the class! The exams were very manageable. One of the coolest professors I've had. He knows his stuff and how to teach. Yeah, #dilf. Wasn't a fan of the “which video we didn't watch in class?” exam questions (memes with babies and toddlers). No idea how we were supposed to not mix up videos we saw in class and on social media.
This was a good class, there was one homework assignment every week. The only bad part about this class is that he doesn't post the study guide until 2-3 days before the exam, so you have to make your own. Attendance is not required but all you need to do to get a good grade is to pay attention in lecture.
