Sometimes he is hard to understand, but just ask. He is very helpful and has powerpoints online that are great. No homework, some quizes.
I thought he was a very understanding and considerate teacher. He was alot better than the one I had to take a lab with!!

WONDERFUL teacher! I have to take 4 more chem classes and I only wish that he was teaching all of them. HIGHLY recommended!
Dr. Elisabeth is a really cool prof. I hated Chemistry but he acutally made it kind of interesting. He really tries to be fair with his grading, he'll let you make up your lowest quiz score with in class homework sometimes. Labs are fun, he's a big help whenever you ask. Totally love Dr. Elisabeth!!!!
he is awesome. he is hard to understand in the beginning because of his thick accent. but he is the best professor i have had at JCCC. he really wants to help you, and make sure you grasp the material.
Dr. Elisabeth was aweseome! I wish that he taught Chem1. I hated chemistry, but he loves it so much and communicated that so well that I am taking Chem1. His tests are average, it's a hard class, so it's not exactly an easy A. But he does try to make it as easy as possible. TAKE THIS CLASS FROM DR. ELISABETH!!!!
Really picky!
His accent was hard to understand at first, but he was very clear on what he taught and what was to be on quizzes and tests. Very kind and funny. He's a good professor to take if you don't really care for chemistry.
I hate chemistry and I took Principles of Chemistry from Professor Elisabeth. He was a very caring professor. His accent is thick, but after the fist day, you can completely understand him. He is very concerned in your studies and making sure the whole class is keeping up at the same pace. Would recommend him to anyone!
very helpful
He is a great teacher! His enthusiasm carries through to his students. Very caring and helpful. Great dry sense of humor!
great teacher!
I honestly can not stand this class he was very hard to understand. he will tell you something then go back and say "wait i told you wrong." and start telling you something else that makes no sense. Also he was gone a lot. he would have asub and they would teach us and then when he got back he whould change everything we learned when he was gone.
Not a good professor. He assigns too much useless homework and he is very confusing when explaining complicated subjects. He emailed me just hours before he turned in final grades in May and said if I finished one more hw assignment, he would bump me up to the next grade. But he knows I work until 6! I got the email too late. what a slap in my face
Elisabeth is a wonderful teacher! He has alot of enthusiasm for chemistry and wants all of his students to become chemists. He passed out notes for class and we barely had to use our books. He does have a French accent like people are saying, but it is very understandable. I would recommend him to anyone!
Great guy and Great teacher! His love of chemistry is contagious, cares about his students' development. Honest, fair, doesn't put up with students that are disruptive. Thought his accent was totally managable and his humble attitude was endearing.
Prof. Eric is perfect teacher even though he frequently gives homework, quiz and exam. The homework is easy and practicing, and it helps exams a loooot!! He uses powerpoint for teaching, and u can just study ppt for test. the only way for getting A in his class is studying hard urself. His teaching is very good for chem foundation! Recommend.
GREAT TEACHER!! I really enjoyed this class. You can tell by his enthusiasum that Prof. Elisabeth loves what he does, and is very good at teaching it to others. You must put in about 30 mins everyday studying, but if you do that and go to class you should do great, I got an A.
I had him for lab for Chemistry 1. He is a nice guy, but he lectures too long before the labs. His style of teaching is a little unclear. He offers you plenty of help and will answer all of your questions. On the final exam, he misread some of my lab results, which screwed up my grade, but I later got it corrected.
Plays favorites, grades harder on some people and not others - inconsistant grading.
Does not grade fair. He knows the subject so well, that he expects you to know it also, so he does not explain it very well. Spent countless hours teaching myself. Very hard to get a B :(
Really good teacher. Gave examples that you could relate to. Homework is online and is really helpful, labs are a little difficult. He has a thick accent, but nothing too difficult to understand. I would recommend him.
All work & no play
Dr. Elisabeth has been a great professor for this subject. He is great about assisting his students to succeed. He sets his expectations up front and is available for guidance a lot. I really have enjoyed having him as a professor. His enthusiasm for chemistry is apparent and translates to the students.
I would recommend Dr. Elisabeth to anyone. Chem is a hard class, but if you attend and listen you'll do fine. He's great at answering your questions and is very generous in his grading. I thought he was easy to understand even with his french accent. Would take him again!
Great teacher, you have to study hard, but its chemistry! I had no problem with his accent. Answers questions readily, emphasizes important points. DO THE PINK BOOK!, if you do, you will not need the book!
Before taking this course I HATED CHEMISTRY. Prof. Elisabeth changed my mind completely, although course is tough he teaches in a way that helps the students understand. The book , pink book and all the other resources he puts on ANGEL are great, they help quite a bit if you take the time to use them! Wish I could take all my Chem classes with him!
I thought he was awesome! If you just keep up on your studying, there is no reason to get below a B. He helps out a TON and always answers my questions.
He was by far one of the best teachers I've had. I hated chemistry before taking his class, now I'm thinking about majoring in it! He is extremely helpful. If you take advantage of his practice tests and the pink book there is no reason you wont get a good grade. He loves what he does and it shows. GREAT TEACHER! I would recommend him to anybody!
Really good professor, class is not easy. You have to put a lot of study and work, but nothing impossible. I have A- right now and waiting just for one test and the final. He provides ppts for all notes, you really don't need to take notes. A lot of practice for tests (pink binder, angel). I would take him for chem1 if he had that class.
Dr.E is a great teacher!I clearly understand the topics, and he asked to make sure everyone is getting it. He is always avilable either by email and during his office hours and will help. You do have to put some studing into this class to get the "hang" of things. He loves his job. Also he has a sense of humor w/ Chem. I would suggest him!!!!
Great teacher. REALLY hard, but I learned so much. Started out thinking I'd be thrilled to get a B and pulled an A, because I actually learned it. Had no trouble with his accent except with a few words.
HARD class. Eric makes things manageable though. Very organized and willing to help anytime you ask. Accent is easy to get past. You really do have to study to get it but the pink book is very very helpful. Do it!! Dont expect to slide through with no studying. Study and youll do fine.
Dr. Elisabeth is a great teacher. Lets face it though chemistry is not the easiest subject in the world, so you wiil have to put some time into this one. He makes it as easy as he can for you though.Use the pink book he provides for practice! It helps! He's very easy to contact for help and returns emails in less than 24 hours. He a good teacher!
Hard class. His accent is a little muffled. Offers NO extra credit.
I took Erik Elisabeth's hybrid class fall of 2012. I would never suggest his course to ANYONE EVER. He is unclear in his expectations and is inconsistent with his policies. When asked questions in class, he responds with indirect statements. He is a poor teacher who is not considerate of grades.
He is so rude! SO unclear on everything! Doesnt seem to want to help you in any way. I missed one class due to my 2 year old cousin getting his SECOND liver transplant and he was so rude!!! I would never suggest him to anyone! His accents is so bad you cant understand anything he says! He is so unclear on what he is wanting. Find a differ teacher!~
His accent was EXTREMELY hard to understand. He is very unclear on future assignment due dates and what he wants.
Very bad teacher. I would not take any of his classes. He knows the subject extremly well, but just doesn't know how to teach at all. His accent makes learning even more difficult.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! I loved chem before his class. I gotten straight As my whole life and ended with a C. Has a terrible French accent that is hard to understand, and he mumbles. very RUDE. very unclear test questions and unclear in class. I cannot stress enough DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! if you do, don't expect an A!!
the class was taught by 2 professors and they didn't communicate well with each other, so the class was getting two differant explanations on things which made it more confusing. this professor was not good at teaching chemistry.
Overall a good teacher. Difficult class but you can get an A if you take good notes and study. Use the SRC for tutoring help. He tends to arrive late and schedule is sometimes unclear.
Very well versed in his field and enthusiastic about the subject matter. He's easily the best professor I had while attending JCCC. His schedule is rather full so its not always easy to go to him with questions, but he does try to meet with students who ask for help.
Absolutely the worst teacher I've had at JCCC. Extremely disappointed with his motivation to help students out. Was given indirect guidance when asked questions. Was not willing to work with students and wouldn't budge on assignments. Was very unclear about due dates. Also very hard to understand. I would not recommend him at all to anyone.
Not clear, full schecule, and very hard to understand what he wants from you. He also tries to trick you on quizzes and tests. Hardest teacher I have had in a while. would not recommend.
Offers very little help and when a question is asked, he will simply repeat the same thing over and over. Finds the smallest things to take off poins for.
Nice guy, but: Speaks English as a second languagetends to mumble, so sometimes hard to understand. Excessive homework load has you constantly chasing deadlines as opposed to studying to your strengths and weaknesses. Skips most of the material from the tests assuming you learned it in high-school or will read aboutfigure it out on your own. etc.
This guy hasn't got it figured out yet. It's an intro level Chem class that pre-nursing students take. We're not trying to save the world here! He just wants to beat people up with Chemistry. I suspect he enjoys it. He will lecture from the text book, but then test you on something completely different. AVOID this guy if at all possible.
Avoid this guy's class. Apparently he's supposed to be the section "leader" for Chem 122 at JCCC. This guy couldn't lead a dog on a leash. Once you see how many errors are on his slides, you'll see that he's fine with mediocrity for himself. It's sad and lazy. He doesn't teach the fundamentals and uses trickery on his tests. Poor test writer!
He talks fast and stumbles on his words and makes it harder to understand. Anything he stresses that you need to know it will not be on the test, so it feels as if you're being turned into the wrong direction when studying. He will meet you in his office if need be, but he explains stuff. in a way that makes it harder. Avoid this class if you can.
Dr. E. takes a difficult subject, and makes it fun! He is French, and has an accent, so LISTEN when he speaks. Ask him to repeat things if necessary. He is very personable. HW is not graded but DO IT ANYWAY. Don't waste much time doing problems you already know how to do. Best instructor of chemistry I have ever had.
Expect to be studying every night if you want to make it by. Finds everything possible to take points off for. Very rude. Does not care if you succeed or not. Good luck if you have him!
Took him last semester and was well prepared for Gen Chem 1. Chemistry is a hard subject so expect to do a lot of studying outside of class. If you study from note packets he hands out and do problems from your pink book you will be very prepared for tests and future chem classes. Very nice guy, just don't take this class lightly!
Chemistry is a hard in general. He seems a bit shy at first but be engaging and ASK QUESTIONS, he always asks the class if we understand so don't assume he can read your mind. He uses powerpoint notes so you can probably miss a class or two. No homework given but he gives you recommended problems from the textbook so you can succeed in the class.
Super nice guy. Willing to answer any questions.
Loved taking him. I was worried that his class would be hard in the beginning, but if you study, you should be fine. You do have in class quizzes over every chapter, but he gives you plenty of warning. He loves it when you ask questions so don't hesitate to ask. Is a bit of a tough grader, but never takes off whole points for small mistakes.
Enjoyed the flexibility of the hybrid version. Everything is online, including videos of him lecturing through the powerpoint presentations. He mentions test worthy information in videos that isn't anywhere else, pay attention. I loved learning on my own time. Tests were taken at testing center. Final was on scan-tron. HW online, buy access code.
I took his online class + on campus lab. His lectures are easy to follow. His quizzes really help you prepare for exams (study for those quizzes tho!) The homework is fairly easy because he offers a lot of practice options. Overall, he just makes the material easy to learn.
Get ready to look up YouTube videos of whats going on
This professor is very hard to understand. He is very little minded on different students understanding level in chemistry. He is always late to class and rarely gives enough time in class for students to work on the things he just taught. He is a very hard grader and isn't understanding enough. I wouldn't recommend Dr. elis unless you know chem!
I loved my experience in Dr. Es class (lecture online, lab in person). The lectures were very thorough, yet I could stop to absorb his teaching points as needed. He structured the class with weekly quizzes, hw, and practice exams to ensure we understood the material. So no surprises on exam day. He truly cared about the success of his students.
Elisabeth is definitely passionate about chemistry. However the amount of formulas and rules we were required to memorize, the amount of homework, and difficulty of this class for a basic level chemistry course was a bit ridiculous. He was lenient on grading though and thats the only way I passed.
Tells you upfront what to expect. Is very direct and basic with explanation of work. Provides lots of practice material (optional). Seems like he legitimately wants his class to learn.
2018. He is very difficult to understand, he has a deep accent making his lecture videos difficult to understand as well as in class. Cannot make up missed quizzes, beginning of every class. Not good at explanations to help you understand. I watched alot of Youtube videos to understand material. Strict with grading. Very difficult for entry class
He isn't a good professor. His accent is fine, but he whispers to himself. He lectured during lab because he was CONSTANTLY late. After we took an exam the first words that come out were "I'm highly disappointed". WHO SAYS THAT? I felt stupid. I was 30 pts away from a B, but he "couldn't" do anything, even though he said "I was a B student"
Chem isn't an easy class. Don't expect to pass if you aren't willing to show up and put the work in. Lectures every day and doesn't put it online bc additional notes are made on the whiteboard. Make friends in case you have to miss some days. Lots of quizzes so stay on top of the material. Lots of people drop. Ask questions and use recourses!!!
He is a professor who expects you to take time outside of class to further understand the material he goes over in class (which should be expected!). If you pay attention, take notes, and actually study, you will do great in the course. He is also quick to respond to emails and any questions you have. He also drops your 2 lowest quizzes.
Took Chem 122 as a credit course. Online lectures and 3 hour lab- once a week. As long as you watch the videos and study, the class is easy. He takes time to answer questions in class, drops 2 lowest quizzes, and also lowest scoring section on a test. I would recommend this class and would take another course from him.
I really feel like with Eric its a hit or miss. First of all NEVER expect him to be on time for the class. He is eternally late. Covid-19 cut my time with him short so half the class was wholly online. AND it sucked, he is kind of stuck up and snotty so he looks down on everyone and is not afraid to single you out. BEWARE...........................
His handwriting on the lecture videos and practice exams is entirely illegible. Impossible to figure out what is written. Emails outside of class are very short and abrupt as though it is an inconvenience to reply to students who are struggling. Lowest 2 quizzes dropped & lowest exam score replaced with corresponding score on final if it's better.
Eric does not allow students to view incorrect answers after an exam is completed & does not give feedback, so you don't even know what to focus on for the next exam/final. No retakes & no late work regardless of the situation. Spelling mistakes are abundant. He cannot teach & expects you to know everything already. This class is a joke.
Professor Elisabeth is very difficult to understand. I took the online class due to COVID and it was incredibly hard to follow the videos between the mistakes he would make in them and the low video quality. He did allow me to turn in a lab late but it was only because I uploaded the wrong lab. Hard grader and not helpful to further understand chem
It was an average class. The videos are difficult to follow because he doesn't follow a logical sequence. However, if you do your work you can get a good grade.
As long as you watch his lectures and go to the classes and labs, you will do fine. I have forgotten to turn in a few of my assignments and he always gave me the chance to turn it in. He cares about his students but if you won't reach out for help or ask questions, he can't help you. A little clumsy with mistakes and spelling but he's a good person
I would not recommend this professor. When trying to get ahold of him over email it would take him several hours for a response. Then when getting a response it would not be professional at all and your questions will not really get answered. His lectures are hard to follow. Do not plan on missing assignments unless it a reason stated in syllabus.
Really nice guy and his lectures weren't too hard to follow but there are a lot of errors on practice problems, lecture examples, study guides etc. so it makes it hard to study or follow along when the answer key is wrong or he isn't doing the right problem on the lecture examples... other than that the class isn't too hard
I absolutely loved dr Elisabeth! He's the easiest and best chem teacher compared to the other professors. Sometimes he's so technical when we say things even though he knows what you mean but always finds a way to joke bout it (in a good way) He allows cheat sheet for test so make sure you put vital info down. Hands down I would take his class over
Nightly homework assignments but it's just a few quick problems out of the textbook. Professor made lectures entertaining with stories and humor. Between his French accent and doctor style handwriting, he is a little hard to understand. However, he allows a cheat sheet on all exams. Would absolutely take this professor again!
Dr Elisabeth was an awesome professor. He is really silly and is very passionate about chemistry. He can be a tough grader. It was his tough grading that really helped me excel and retain information from this course. I HATED chemistry before and now I genuinely enjoy it (especially organic).
BEWARE. He suggested that I had a disability when I went to him for help after struggling with multiple tests. Students were expected to go through hours of lecture notes on the first day for a test the following day. He does not give adequate time on tests and is hard to understand at times.
He's a good teacher and will answer questions when asked, he is friendly and helpful. Kind of a hard grader especially with showing work but with the nature of the class showing work is important
This professor is not for those who struggle to teach themselves everything. His grading criteria makes it impossible to get a 100% on anything, and he gives very little to no explanation/guidance on anything going on in class. He constantly forgets to open modules when they need to be accessed, and he assigns homework and quizzes the day of.
