Erik Ford was such a great professor!! He was always willing to help students and accommodate anything for them. He was hilarious and it was enjoyable to go to his class. He genuinely wants everyone in his class to do well. Although its a pass/no pass class there isn't any struggle in passing the class.
One of the greatest professors I have ever had. Erik is extremely engaging, which is very impressive for someone teaching a class about software to business students. He is extremely intelligent, interested and compelling in his field, and actually owns his own business in the field which means all content is extremely relevant. Best Class Ever.
Explains stuff pretty great, and even thou you might not have interest in Excel or Access, his lectures are a valid component of the course (in other words - come to lectures to learn and memorize). Homework as expected, since all the work is done on the computer. Class attendance is checked with iClickers.
Hey, go to class, do the homework, went to lab, watch the video he post, and pass the class. that's it.
Awesome teacher and very helpful!
Erik is a great teacher. He makes it clear as long as you show effort by doing all the assignments he will do anything to make sure you pass. He is a dorky guy which only adds humor to his lectures. Great teacher. Very helpful. Makes learning excel not such a hassle.
Erik is awesome. His examples are super relevant and he is very engaging and funny. I've never had a teacher so enthusiastic about his subject, and about being sure everyone can pass the class. I had never given this kind of subject matter a second thought, but because of Erik's class, I'm looking into it on my own time! That's saying something.
The BEST professor I've had at UO so far. He is extremely clear about class expectations and is always willing to help. He comes to class prepared and his sense of humor offers a great addition to a fairly dry topic. Labs can be difficult but he offers videos and checklists with all the skills you need. Cares about his students success & understand
Erik Ford is funny and interesting, a great class!
Erik is awesome and extremely helpful! There are quite a few homework assignments each week, but they aren't super hard to do if you attend class. Since this is a Pass/No Pass class, just make sure that you turn in the assignments (late work is accepted) and go through the checklist for lab preparations, and you will most likely pass this class.
He is a terrific person and teacher. Very clear with what you need to do to pass. If you do all the work which is not difficult then it is impossible not to pass. The tests are easy as he gives you a prep video to prepare. Also gives real life examples which is nice. Overall, terrific class as you will learn a lot and the work you do is helpful.
Best business professor at Oregon hands down. Hope to see him teaching higher level classes soon.
BA240 was the easiest class I've ever had. Erik wants everyone to succeed and as long as you do the assignments you'll pass.
Erik is one of the best professors I have had at UO. I have never seen a professor care so much about his topic--Excel is not the easiest or most fun thing to learn, but his enthusiasm is contagious and makes it easy to get interested in the subject. He truly wants his students to succeed and will do anything he can to make sure you pass the class.
Ford is kind of a goof, but he is really passionate about the material. I took this course online, so it's a lot of time on the computer, but for a pass/fail class you have to do the work and you'll pass. Not difficult, just time consuming.
Erik is absolutely my favorite professor. I took his online class on excel and all I can say is he is ver passionate about his work, and he wants you to learn the material. His videos are funny which makes learning the material fun. As long as you keep up with the videos, do the MyITlab work (quite a bit), and show up to lab days, you will pass.
Passionate about his work and tries to teach his students something useful for their careers. 2 thumbs up.
Great guy, super helpful, really wants students to pass and understand the material. He presents the lectures in a way that makes him come off as a total goof, but it's a refreshing change from most professors and the material was easy to understand and is quite useful in other business/accounting classes.
Really passionate about excel. Lays out the entire year in the syllabus so you know what to expect. A lot to do every week but it's pretty easy if you watch his lectures. No note taking whatsoever. He also really makes it easy to pass.
NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PROFESSOR
Eric Ford definitely deserves more credit than he gets. Besides running his own company, he teaches at the UO, making Excel come alive for me. He made me an Excel "power user," and I am eternally grateful.
Genuinely the best teacher I've ever had, even though it was just a Pass/No pass class. He truly just wanted to help the students learn and excel (haha literally). 10/10 teacher
Very good at understanding students' needs, very relatable and personable. Lots of homework but as long as you stay on top of it, you will pass.
Super Easy. Lots of work though
A bit of a goof but very passionate about what he teaches. The course is heavy on homework but its not difficult and he does a great job of explaining everything. One of the best instructors I've ever had.
Professor Ford is the bomb. He is very understanding and if you show effort you will learn a lot and he will make sure you pass the class
Great professor, would gladly take another class of his. Clear syllabus that outlines the quarter with all the assignments. He is so passionate about excel programs I enjoyed his lectures. Lots of points in this class. I've never seen any professor walk around in a 200 person lecture hall to help students on their computers. great guy
Probably one of my favorite teachers (if not my favorite) that I have had in my 3 years at UO. There is definitely a lot of work in this class but as long as you stay organized and plan ahead you'll be fine. He does everything he can to make sure his students pass, but as long as you pay attention that won't be a worry. Amazing professor!!!
Best Professor! Excel can be a little boring sometimes but Ford's enthusiasm makes you feel engaged. He used lots of real life examples to help you connect with the material. Clear grading criteria, online format and great instructor made me actually excited to learn. Other professors should really take notes from this guy!
Online BA 240 is the only way to take the class, or at least it should be. A good amount of homework every day but it isnt very hard and preps you really well for the labs.
Pretty easy class! The only thing is that you have to pass the midterm to pass the class, but there are opportunities to get points back on every assignment so you should pass no matter what. The labs get annoying because there is one every week, but you can take it on ProctorU so you don't actually have to go to your designated lab time.
I took this class online so I didn't get to spend a lot of time face to face with Ford but he obviously cares about his students and wants people to pass. This is a class where you can't miss the labs and you have to do the homework, but as long as you do that, you will pass.
Ford was great. He cares a lot. This class does have a lot of homework in it and weekly labs are annoying, but the work itself is not hard and you are learning an important skill. One thing that helped me was the tutoring sessions available the night before grader projects were due. You got it done and half the time and were more prepared for lab.
If you average a 91% on midterms and finals combined, but have less than an 82.5% in the class it should show that you have a clear understanding of the content with a few homework errors and show you deserve to pass the class. The class content is easy and just because I dont have an 82.5%, doesnt mean I should fail. Thats actually messed up.
lots of homework, if you miss more than three homework, you may fail
TAKE HIS CLASS
Best professor and take it online because it is way easier and you can go at your own pace throughout the week!
Erik is such a relief beginning my Freshman year. He gives clear and detailed lectures and the homework goes intertwined with the reading. Quizzes do reflect the reading and I love the course from his lectures.
Erik Ford is one of the best professors I've had. He's engaging, kind, fair, and is a professor who truly wants you to succeed. There is a fair amount of work but it isn't overwhelming. Show up to class each day because it is important. Pass/No Pass is the grade you get but you must have above a 85. Though that seams high, truly me it's very easy.
This class was so boring and I hated going, but Iclicker is used everyday counting for attendance. I actually switched my major because I took this course.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He is really into his class that we all can feel his passion of teaching and his lecture was very detailed. He literally wants every student succeeds in his class. Highly recommend you guys to take his class. I'm sure that you won't regret taking his class.
This man Erik right here is the GOAT, better than Tom Brady. He comes to class everyday ready to just rock it. Very entertaining lecturer and very enthusiastic as well. 10/10 guy and sometimes if you are lucky you can see him rippin' through campus on his sweet motorcycle. Definitely recommend his class the material is actually useful.
Erik is a really passionate instructor and he really cares about his students. The class itself is rather easy. The three exams were non-cumulative and not very hard. No papers. If you just show up with your iClicker, do the "chapter-assignments" on Canvas and do your MikesBikes you'll easily pass/get a good grade.
I've never seen a man with so much passion for excel worksheets.
Ford is an extremely good teacher and knows how to keep students engaged. I found that because this class is P/NP I had a lot less pressure to ace the class and more on actually learning. This is one of the first classes I have taken in years in which I feel that I have actually learned something I can apply to my career. A+ for you Erik :)
Ford is the man! Very energetic professor during lectures and his class is very well organized. As a business student you should definitely enjoy the material in this class as it's very applicable to the real world. It's a lot of homework and can be challenging with a mac computer, but nonetheless very easy to pass.
Great professor. Super energetic lecturer who cares about providing engaging lessons. Ford has a very strict no computer rule during lectures but you dont really need one to get though his lectures.
Overall pretty easy class. 3 noncumulative midterms that weren't too difficult if you went to class and listened to what he had to say. He's energetic and cares about students and has a passion for what he's teaching which makes it a lot easier and more fun to learn. I really enjoyed this class and it was super interesting. Would recommend!!
Erik really knows his stuff! This class is super practical for students of all majors not just business, and everything is designed and set up to help you, not to make you obsess over your grade percentage. Be prepared to run into occasional issues if you are using a Mac, but nothing that will hurt your learning or performance. BA240 is a blessing!
Ford is very passionate about this class. He wants you to understand the material and be able to carry it into the world. I found the class enjoyable because it covers some rather interesting popular topics, like segways vs hoverboards and the 2008 financial crisis. You must go to class and there are NO LAPTOPS, but so far my best class in college.
I took BA 240 with Erik, and it was not that difficult. There are assignments from MyIT lab and his grader projects. Overall I would take another course with him. He's really approachable and can be reached through email.
One of the best professors Ive ever had.
Didn't realize before taking this class but Ba 240 is super easy because its just a tutorial on how to use excel. Its also graded based on a pass/no pass. Erik is very understanding and will help you if you're struggling. Just keep up with assignments and go to class/ lab and you'll pass.
I took Ba101 and Ba240 with him, he is very passionate about his classes and does a fantastic job teaching them. He is eager to take suggestions to improve the class. In fact he cares so much that he reads the reviews on here. He is the best teacher I have ever had at UofO and I wouldnt hesitate to take another one of his classes.
I have never met a person more passionate about excel than Erik. He cares so much about what he is teaching that it makes the class easy and enjoyable. There is a lot of homework but its very manageable. He is a great teacher and obviously loves his job.
Loves what he is doing, he really cares about making sure everyone passes his class
He's a super chill guys teaching a super chill class. I would recommend taking it online, the time spent in class didn't feel necessary, but he's a very nice guy and very willing to work with you on your grade, he clearly cares about the success of his students and believes in the value his class provides you moving into the business world.
Favorite teacher at UO. Course seems a bit overwhelming at the start since it's all online however it's manageable. Lecture videos each week followed by a few online submissions for homework and an in-person lab on Fridays. Labs were pretty straightforward and you'll do well if you do the HW and watch the lectures. Got over 100% it's Pass/No pass.
Mr. Ford is the guy! He is passionate about what he teaches, he cares for his students' success and he is easy to talk to. If you have questions try his office hours. It seems he himself has hand-crafted the material taught in BA240 and knows it like the back of his hand. Take a course with Mr. Ford and you won't be disappointed.
Erik is one of my favorite professors at UO. He's super passionate about his class which makes the lecture interesting. When I would have a question about a project, he would respond within the hour. As long as you follow along in lecture, you can easily get an A in this class. He shows you how to do everything on the homework so just pay attention
Mr. Ford is just an amazing guy. His enthusiasm in his videos made it so much easier to follow along and do well on the projects. Truly made me feel like he cared and wanted me to be successful. I feel like I could ask Erik Ford for help with anything.
He is one of the best professors I had in UO. He really knows what he is doing, and you just know he cares about it. Keep it up
Erik Ford is one of the most knowledgeable and great profs I've ever had. His lectures are structured well, and he explains each concept you'll need to know in detail. He is also extremely welcome to help you during his class hours (and can give you cool advices regarding your future courses and carrier).
Highly recommend this class and Professor Ford! His lectures are very clear and not very long, theyre too the point and he tells you exactly how to do it. Hes very passionate about Excel, which is nice because it made me excited about it. The skills you learn in this class are extremely valuable for college and life!
I took Dr. Ford's web class, so I had very little personal interaction with him outside of a few emails, but I will say, his energy level throughout lectures is infectious. His experience teaching and setting up online classes is extremely evident, as it is really clearly organized and simple. Everything is open notes. Easy A!
Overall a great guy. If you cant put in the time hell know and it will show
Professor Ford was an outstanding instructor to have and, in my opinion, takes great effort to teach you valuable excel skills effectively and in a low-pressure environment. The genuine care for his students is apparent in his high levels of effort demonstrated while teaching important excel skills with clarity and enthusiasm. Take this class!
I think that Erik did an excellent job of explaining everything about excel. His videos are very informational and clear. There are quite a few assignments a week followed by a lab towards the end of the week. He also responds quickly to emails.
Dr. Ford was an amazing professor! He is super dedicated to his job and makes the lectures both interesting and engaging. The work load is totally manageable and the exams were straight forward and easy to get a good grade on. I would recommend Dr. Ford to any student taking BA101!
He is one of the most passionate and motivational teachers I have ever had. Through every video lecture, you can tell not only does he want you to learn the material, but he enjoys teaching it to you as well. He is super helpful when you have questions and all around he is a fantastic teacher. I highly recommend taking his class.
Best and most fa vortex professor I have ever had.
He explained everything thoroughly and was available almost any time for questions. He made the asynchronous lectures enjoyable and fun to watch, very energetic, easily the best remote teacher/class Ive taken during covid.
Such a character. Makes me enjoy classes and doing the homework the energy he brings is unmatched.
Seriously the most energetic person I've ever seen talking about Excel. He has so much passion for this and it shows! Walks through everything and makes it incredibly easy to understand. Excel has always confused me and he made it so easy! 10/10
He's a great teacher that I recommend to anyone needing to take BA240. I really learned a lot from him that I will for sure be using in the real world.
Online course was very well organized with clear guidelines. 3 noncumulative midterms. Each week includes MikesBikes, digital book HW and lectures w/ quizzes. Do the work and you'll get the points. Midterms can be kind of challenging since they are not curved (class is curved @ the end). Very easy to reach and energetic teacher + explains well.
If you do the work, you pass. Erik Ford is an absolutely terrific professor. He's passionate about his work and his energy is infectious. Absolutely awesome, would recommend him to everyone.
Content is super interesting and he is very enthusiastic and teaches well. He uses Mikes Bikes which is a really fun way to actually use some of the concepts you are learning and connect them to everyday life. For a remote class, I feel like I got the same quality of teaching. Nice guy and always wants to help!
Clearly passionate.
Ford is an amazing professor and has an incredible passion and enthusiasm for Excel. Excel may be kind of a boring subject but it is incredibly useful and I was amazed by the amount of stuff we learned in such a short time. We also touched a little bit on Tableau. His class is incredibly well organized and easy to follow.
Seriously the best professor at the U of O. If you have the chance to take a course with his name on it, do it. His course inspired me to learn the material of the class to a further extent outside of the course. I wish I could take this class again!
Erik Ford is literally the BEST professor at UO. His energy is amazing, he makes the lectures like he is literally talking to you one-on-one. I am looking forward to taking classes with Erik Ford in the future. I would say he's a 10/10 teacher so take classes with him, don't wait!
Professor Ford makes learning fun. I wish he could teach all of my classes.
This is the best class I've taken so far at UO. Prof wants to see you succeed in and outside of class, and he makes it all really accessible and informative. I've already started applying the lessons to daily life. I can't recommend this class enough, regardless of your major.
Erik Ford was an incredible professor, I genuinely ended his course feeling confident in my skills that I learned in Excel. Prof. Ford made all the lectures interesting & easy to understand, especially when it came to more difficult topics. I was always able to reach out to him for help & he was always very clear & accommodating.
He's been my favorite professor! You can tell he is passionate about student success & the material. Class is well structured. You know exactly what is expected of you. He's big on teaching things that you will actually use in the real world. Partners with Career Center to help you with things like resumes, internships & much more!
Mr. Ford has a very funny and bright personality that makes class enjoyable and more engaging. I really enjoyed taking his BA240 class which involved data analysis and the use of Excel and Tableau. I learned valuable skills throughout the class and was opened up to a new career path of data analysis. I very much enjoyed Erik Ford as a teacher.
Professor Ford is by far my favorite professor I have had at UO so far. He actually knows how to use Canvas which makes navigating the course much easier, especially with online school. You can tell Professor Ford cares about his students and the content he teaches, he's energetic and makes what is supposed to be a boring Microsft Excell class fun.
Erik Ford is the best teacher I've had so far in college. While the course was online and lectures weren't live he really makes sure to reiterate so you understand the material. He is very enthusiastic and engaging where even though excell can be a bit boring he makes it more fun.
This class (BA 240) is amazingly informative and professor Ford is a great instructor. The demos are easy to follow while still full of awesome and in depth information. Fords teaching is captivating as well as being clear and full of great information.
This was easily the most engaging class I've taken. It's very easy to pay attention to the videos and you really learn a lot when you dolots of really good skills. I thought I had a pretty good idea of how to use Excel coming into this class but there was just so much I didn't know yet. It's all really useful. Highly recommend taking this course.
Took BA 101 online with Prof Ford and it was incredible! His passion about the subject makes the lectures easy to follow along, and if you take good notes the tests should be easy! Could not recommend taking his class more.
Professor Ford is an amazing individual and wants nothing more than his students to be successful. I really enjoyed having him this term and he made this class so much more fun and exciting than what it should have been.
Erik Ford is an amazing and energetic professor who made this course incredibly organized and straightforward for an online course. He wants all his students to get an A and learn from the class. The three tests for this course are deceivingly hard though, even though they are open book/internet. Take lots of notes from the lectures and textbook!
Very clear on what work is needed to be done for that week, and very organized on Canvas. Energetic, easy, and fun to listen too in lectures as well. Overall loved the class
LOVE Erik Ford. Easily the best professor at the u of o, so genuine, caring and flexible as well. If you have the chance to take a class with him DO IT!
amazing 3 midterms no final
Best professor! Lectures are based on the hw assigned before class, attendance taken with iclicker. For hw you will have reading assigned with questions, the reading is highlighted with what the most important things are, a video and 2 activities. Some people take 45 min. on hw I took a few hours because of note taking. 3 midterms, 60% of grade.
Really fantastic. Outlined the course and workload from the very start, goes over what's due each week, makes it super easy to follow along, do it again at home, do it one more time in lab and get that pass (pass/no pass class). Seriously passionate about the material and it shows.
He is an amazing prof and is certainly energetic about excel. He makes learning excel super easy I would definitely recommend him if you are taking BA240.
Very enthusiastic about his teaching. 3 midterms, NO final. Homework not too much.
As long as you do the homework and show up to lecture you will get an easy A in this class. He will help you if you have any questions and won't hesitate to stay after class and work with you. Amazing guy.
Taking BA240 has been a pleasure and great experience. Professor Ford teaches in an upbeat and clear way that makes things easier to understand. He goes above and beyond in every way to give his students every opportunity possible to learn and understand Excel. Anytime I have a question or concern he is always prompt to reply and help.
You can tell Professor Ford cares about what he teaches. The homework is super easy to get an A on (as long as you do it on time). If you do your homework and study for 5-7 per midterm, you will walk away with an A in this class. Professor Ford is very clear with what he expects and he is happy to clarify if there is any confusion. Take his class!!
Professor Ford did a really good job organizing this class into a virtual setting. A week of work is 2 10-minute lectures, 2 1-hour demos, and then 2 homework assignments that take roughly 30 minutes each. There is one quiz each week but if you did all the lecture/demo work you don't need to study at all for this class. Easy yet I learned a lot!
He was amazing. he really cares about his class and the students in it. there is a good amount of work, but all of it is fairly simple and helpful to the class
Great teacher and you can tell he really cares about the kids and what he teaches. There is homework before class and it is fairly easy, as long as you can do that and pay attention in class youll be fine.
I do not have enough kind of words about professor Ford. He is so exceptionally kind and really cares about his students. At the end of the term I really felt like I have learned so much. There are assignments due tuesday and thursday and friday. There is an exam every week but very easy if you go to class. There are also videos to help with hw.
Erik is one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. I was super nervous to take this class and at the end it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. I highly recommend taking this course, after taking this I will possibly be changing my business concentration to OBA.
Erik Ford is passionate and dedicated to this course, program, and the students success. Always thrilled to go to class for his lectures.
Took the BA240 course with prof. Ford. The entire class, except exams, was asynchronous. I was apprehensive at first but for an excel class it turned out to work very well. Very easy to do the lectures at your own pace, and the lectures themselves were very easy to follow. Follow all the lectures and the material for the course becomes simple. 5/5
This class is really cool because you learn a lot, but it doesn't necessarily feel like a ton of work if you follow along with the demonstrations during the lectures. This is mainly because Professor Ford is great and puts a lot of effort into each and every lecture, which makes it so much easier to understand how to use these programs.
If you have the chance to take a class with Professor Ford, do it! He is so passionate about what he teaches, explains things really well, and is always willing to help. I learned a lot in this class and had fun doing it. The course is straight forward and as long as you do all the work you shouldn't have a problem passing.
There's a reason professor Ford has such amazing ratings here! BA 240 was such an engaging and informative class, I gained a lot of practical knowledge that feels very applicable in the "real world". I was intimidated by the prospect of working with big data for the first time, but this class has made me so much more confident. Awesome prof!
Professor Ford is one of the most enthusiastic and caring teachers I have ever had the chance to take a class from. His genuine love for teaching BA 240 makes it fun and keeps you engaged. Try your hardest to take this class
Erik Ford is by far the most impactful professor I've had at UO in the last two years. Not only does his energy and passion obviously show through his teaching, he just genuinely has fun with it and teaches so clearly. I'm not even in the business school but thought Excel/Data Analyzation could be beneficial, and I am so glad I took this course.
HE is very passionate, decently entertaining could be worse. The tests are pretty hard and you have t study for them but he does a nice curve at the end that saved me from getting a C. Decently understanding if you communicate with him. Not amazing but not awful.
It was a pleasure to take Professor Fords class. Despite how long the class period is, his lectures are extremely engaging and fun to be there for. It is obvious that he truly cares and is there to help his students.
Great professor always willing to help and super accommodating, no one should have an issue getting a A in this class if you apply yourself
It is my pleasure to review this man. A truly exceptional teacher who was born to do this job. I pity any and everyone who has not had the opportunity to take a class from him. He is SO enthusiastic and can actually convince you that a class on microsoft excel is actually interesting. Best professor in the world and no I am not exaggerating.
Erik is hands down the best teacher I've had for ANY class, high school included. His eloquent, concise, and clear manner of speaking makes listening / watching his lectures an honestly pleasant activity. I took BA240 asynchronously, so all I know of Erik are emails and recordings, but I have no doubt that he is a teacher who knows what he's doing.
He is rude and unaccommodating to students especially during a global pandemic. A lot of these reviews look fabricated as well which is peculiar.
I took BA101 thinking I would do a business minor and realized I had made a huge mistake about three classes in. I hated business, but still enjoyed the class because Prof Ford made it so fun! He uses great examples in his lectures and really wants you to do well.
Great lecturer. Don't do what I did and get cocky come exam time. He recommends spending 6 hours studying before exams, and I'd highly recommend doing so.
This man love's business and his job. He's so passionate about what he's talking about and makes some things that could easily be boring sound really fun. Show up to class, do the homework, go to tutoring if necessary, and study for the midterms like he says. Don't underestimate this class, but if you study you will be just fine.
Erik Ford is such an amazing soul!! You can tell he's so passionate about his job and so passionate about teaching others about Excel. His class is Pass/No pass and overall he explains everything so well - that it makes the class super easy!! Obviously, a little effort has to be put in - but it's really not hard!!
by far the best teacher hear you will not be disappointed he is very clear on what he expects and how to pass with a good grade, iclicker for attendance
Very kind and funny, wants everyone to succeed. No final, but there are 3 non-cumulative exams. Lectures are interesting, and he uses lots of examples that are easy to relate to/understand. He is very passionate about business and really enjoys teaching. Everyone should take this class, even non-business majors.
So glad I took his BA 240 class online. Very nice guy and a great teacher. Demos be lengthy and are pretty boring but it worked much better for me when I started watching everything on 2x speed. Weekly exams are mandatory but exactly like the homework and very easy. Easy to pass if you do the work and you'll learn some fantastic job skills.
Erik has a clear enthusiasm towards his teaching which makes it easy to find the content more exciting. This class helped me to choose my concentration, I can thank Erik for that! Super clear structure of class and grading expectations. It’s clear he wants all students to succeed. Weekly exams are exactly like homework. Definitely take this class
Erik Ford is so kind, caring, and funny. He tends to let you out of class early and tries to make the class as fun as possible.
Great professor, Ford does a great job of keeping the class engaged. The tests are very heavy on terms which is a bit annoying. Overall, the class is pretty low-key which is great.
It's a lecture and exam heavy class.
Overall a pretty good experience, the class was incredibly easy. Although he tries to keep lectures interesting, he does not allow laptop use during class so they can feel very long. Everyone pretty much sits on their phones the entire period. Three isolated midterms, and nothing during finals week.
I took this course as the asynchronous option, and it was a very insightful look into the use of Excel. Although some may find online videos unengaging, I never had an issue staying engaged and listening to him speak. He explained concepts very easily and fairly, and overall I can now say I am fluent in excel.
Absolute goat of a profesor
Really enthusiastic and really cares about the class. I took the ASYBC online excel class and everything was super clear and planned out.
Very simple guidelines, relaxed classes, we did get graded on attendance. No bending of the grades, it is very correct/incorrect.
Erik Ford is the most compassionate man I have ever met. If someone asked if he was family, I would call him a father figure. His enthusiasm is unparalleled. This man is my everything and I would give or sacrifice anything for him. I would give a kidney just to take his class again.
best class ever! so many real world examples of how to use excel and tableau. erik seems kinda intimidating in his emails cause theyre so curt and to the point but if you follow lecture videos, easy A. take it as an online course if you can!!
ford exceeded all my expectations! I felt like I learned so many skills in this class and he made it so easy! the nicest and most enthusiastic guy you'll meet. class is not hard- just do the work, it doesn't even take that long. I don't know anyone who doesn't like erik ford. he is THE excel guy but I'm sure any class with him would be great.
This has been my absolute favorite professor at UO. If you go to classes and do all the homework you'll pass. He responds very quickly to any email questions and wants you to succeed.
Great teacher, very clear that he cares about you and loves teaching! Took the course online and it was a bit homework heavy but isn't too bad. Personally not my favorite subject but Mr. Ford makes it not too bad.
Just a standout human being, we need more people like Erik Ford in our world.
An absolute legend who cares a lot about excel. He is really good at teaching the skills needed to do well in his class. Weakly quizzes on the material from the week but they are very simple and easy.
Take a class with Erik Ford! He's amazing.
Mr. Ford is great. Only thing is his slides go a little fast sometimes but he posts them later for you to copy. Super nice and cool guy
I love Erik! He is super caring and passionate about what he is doing! If you ever have any questions, he is super easy to talk to, and I felt like I learned so much from his class. Would 10/10 recommend!
Professor Ford has easily been the best teacher at UO! I have had him for both BA 240 and BA101 and he is truly a special teacher! He puts so much time and effort into teaching and he truly loves it! BA 240 was so fun, he was very energetic and made it super easy to follow and understand! I just want to say thank you for an amazing class!
Erik is the best. Easy class and he's a great teacher who is ready to help whenever needed. Very accessible outside of class and the material isn't hard at all. You got this !
Awesome professor who notably cares about his students. I found he was super easy to get in contact with outside of class and really showed commitment to helping his students.
I definitely recommend taking spreadsheet analysis with Professor Ford! He makes the course very easy to follow and almost impossible to fail. You'll be alright as long as you show up to the lectures and do your work on time.
The online class was well put together, but it was a bit of a pain to be restricted on how far ahead you could go. The video lectures were nice, because I could scan through them a little faster. VERY test heavy! The exams are something you need to know exact terms and what acronyms stand for rather than concepts. Memorize stuff. He emails back(:
I absolutely love online business 240 with professor ford. His animation at the beginning of class gets me excited and I have really enjoyed the structure and content of the course. I also have enjoyed an online course, being able to speed up/ slow down lectures when I want is excellent. I would recommend to anyone.
Class is pass fail and you will pass if you just do the work, or most of it. Very easy to follow in lecture.
Kind of like the south park professor how he says mkay every sentence, but this guy is great. Easy class, if you pay attention in lecture you're guaranteed to pass.
Erik Ford is literally the best! One of the most useful classes I've ever taken. Really loves teaching Excel and does whatever he can to help. The homework and tests are extremely easy. I genuinely looked forward to his class, and the career fundamental assignments were actually very helpful!
Erik Ford is a great teacher and has a bubbly personality that radiates throughout his class, I took online BA 101 and it was a good class but wouldn't recommend if you learn bad online. The tests were decently easy, at the end of the day it's BA101.
BA240 online is a cool class applicable right away. It's about 1.5 hours of work to do each classes work but the work is clear and concise and hes a pretty fun guy in his videos.
Professor Ford has such an amazing personality, and he shows that he has passion in teaching the material in the lecture videos. The lectures were never boring because his enthusiasm keeps the videos going. BA 240 is manageable, so you should be able to pass this class. It does be time consuming, but you would be able to ace the exams.
Not the easiest class, especially for an intro class, but Ford makes this class enjoyable. He is well-respected amongst students for a good reason. He wants his students to do well and you can tell that. Sometimes we suspect he's on something because no one can truly be that excited about Business all the time. Great guy, can't wait to take BA240.
I took Professor Ford for BA 101 and he is incredible! He is engaging in lectures, even in online classes. The work each week is very clear, and follows a similar pattern, so you can always know what to expect and balance your work load with other classes. The was little stress; if you study for midterms, you should easily pass this class.
I took BA 101 with Prof Ford and loved him so much, I took him again for BA 240. Super easy class if you just follow along in the demos. I found the material incredibly useful in classes, work, and life outside of BA 240. It's a pass or fail class. Ford makes it engaging and is always willing to help if you have any questions! Easy with a Mac or PC
Everything people say about Erik Ford is true. He has been my favorite professor thus far. Taking BA240 online was an incredible choice since his lecture videos are in-depth and easy to follow from home. If you ever get the opportunity, please take his class.
Professor Ford is one of the best instructors I've ever had in my life. He's very kind, funny and empathetic. He just wants you to learn the content and have a good time while doing it. I would recommend BA101 to any students at UO if you can take it with professor Ford. 10/10 professor.
Most enthusiastic and caring professor I've had.
It's a pass/no pass class and he will pass you as long as you have an 82% or only have 3 or less missing assignments. Erik is such an amazing teacher definitely the best I've had at UO so far. He is clearly very enthusiastic about the topic. Material is so easy and excel is super self explanatory, you do have to show up to class though.
Very helpful and cares about his students
goat.
Mr. Ford was one of the kindest and most caring professors I have had at UO. His class is easy to follow, he is incredibly enthusiastic about the topics he teaches. This energy creates such a great learning environment and makes his lectures very unique and enjoyable. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes, he truly is one of the best.
For him to have such a high rating on here makes a lot of sense to me. Erik LOVES teaching his students and dose a great job at it. With the textbook being online it made the assignments really easy. For getting information you can ether pay attention in class or read the textbook but you don't have to do both. I really enjoyed being in his class.
Super enthusiastic and caring. I enjoyed being in his class a lot.
Erik is super enthusiastic about business, amazing professor even if you're not very interested in business (like me). Includes a lot examples and good real-life explanations for much of the material which can help keep the lectures interesting. Exams are very term-heavy so I recommend making flashcards for each lecture.
As someone who is not a business major and just took this as an elective, although I did not really like the business world Erik is a great instructor who is very passionate and cares about what he teaches. Gives good lectures with good real-life examples.
Literally the easiest class I've taken at UO. There's a few assignments each week but they all build on each other. Do it at your own pace type vibe. Just watch the videos on 2.0 speed and attend the labs. It's pass/fail so as long as you have an 81% you're chilling. Great professor too.
Not much to say. Everybody knows Erik Ford is an elite level professor.
Goat
Easy to follow class after the first week. Great professor and online class
Seriously such a cool professor with so much passion for teaching and business. He explained every concept SO well and used lots of examples for each term. Best professor I've had so far. He also was super accepting when I was out sick for a week and a half and helped me out. 11/10 professor, def take his class if you need the credits.
This was the best class Ive taken at UO. Erik provides engaging lectures and he's really passionate about the topics he teaches. 3 midterms worth 60% of your grade but he curves the end of the course. Midterms are fairly easy as long as you take notes in class and study. I would recommend everyone takes a class from Erik Ford at least once.
Super chill professor and class materials. Make sure to attend class because he essentially prepares you how to do the homework/following weeks quiz, super easy and engaging lectures. The two midterms are a bit difficult but if you practice often you should be good
This man is knowledgeable and reasonable. Use your time wisely and have fun learning from him. I have heard some complain about his late work policy and what not but I think his policies are 100% reasonable. Easy class, a bit homework heavy but that is how you learn. I can't wait for the rest of the BA sequence with him.
Erik Ford is easily the best professor I have ever had at UO. For those unfamiliar with the course, it is P/NP for everyone, so it does not affect your GPA. If you get a decent grade, you'll receive the P and can move on. Professor Ford cares about his students and goes above and beyond to help. I highly recommend him! Take it online if you can.
He's a very active professor. Loves to include the students in on the lectures and requests proper feedback once in a while on what can be improved in the class. In some ways, he's strict with his grading policies and deadlines but if you stay on top of things and organize yourself, this class will go wonderfully. Overall, a really good professor.
Professor Ford's BA240 class is a breeze. Attend the lectures and use resources like Unstuck AI for easy prep, and you're set for an A. Engaging classes, no textbook needed - just an enjoyable learning experience overall.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. If you want to take a perfectly formatted course where you will fully learn a marketable skill (Excel) that is usable in almost every field with a professor who knows what he's doing, take BA 240 with Ford. Ford is the GOAT.
Kindest, most interesting, best prof I've taken. I did the online course. moderate amount of work, none of it too hard. he really cares about what he does and his students. im not a business major, took it for a gen ed class. absolutely great guy and class, would def recommend .
The greatest prof literally ever. Cares a lot about his subject and students, super clear on directions and grading, nicest guy ever. Took the class for an easy A and he was so engaging I was actually interested in the Course. Easy A, very engaging, great prof.
Love this guy, good class
Literally the best prof ever. Cares about his students and what he's teaching, super engaging and informative, not a lot of work but the work you do really helps. Love him so much and you can't find a better prof than him
All I can say is, I don't care what your major is, take a class taught by Erik! He will change your life!
I really enjoyed taking BA101 with professor Ford. His teaching style was very engaging, humorous but thorough. Online resources organized well, he made himself accessible and made us aware of other supportive resources. I also appreciated his transparency regarding exam preparation, suggesting affective way to study and best materials to review.
Erik Ford is the GOAT. He stands out because of his engaging teaching style, deep expertise, and genuine care for his students' success. He creates a welcoming environment for learning, inspires critical thinking, and goes above and beyond to ensure everyone understands the material. His passion truly motivates and empowers students!
Such a good professor, really cares about his students and makes class fun and engaging. I would 100% recommend him to anyone
This is my second time taking a class with the goat, Erik Ford. I truly love him as a professor. I had no idea I would like Excel as much as I do now. You have to work for it in this class. It is time-consuming, but it's worth it. 2 Midterms and a "class" every Tuesday/Thursday, my only complaint is it being P/NP, could've gotten an A+ if it wasn't
If you gotta take BA 101, do it with Prof. Ford. He's funny and self aware and made it interesting. I never had to take notes, tests are taken off the slides. He's very funny, and makes a 300 person lecture very personal, and also treats it like stand up. I also learned things as well which is what you are probably trying to see from this website.
I learned more in this class than I did all of last year combined. On top of that, the class really is not hard at seal you just need to pay attention and do the homework and I found the homework to be kinda fun.
I could not say enough positive things about taking BA101 with Erik Ford. He makes the concepts digestible and is overall an amazing, straightforward, and receptive professor.
I dont know if I am just stupid but make sure if you are taking the online version of BA101 to study because I did not study that much but did all the assignments and did horribly on the 3 midterms. However he did bump everyones grade up by 5% at the end. I got 3 60%s on the midterms and still passed with a B overall. Great teacher and funny guy
If you apply yourself there is no reason to not pass this class. He gives you so many opportunities to pass the class, although there are quizzes every week, he more than prepares you for them.
Great Professor with engaging lectures. By far the best teacher I had during my first two terms at UO.
He sets you up for success for the online version of this class. As long as you stay on top of the due dates and watch the video lectures it is very easy to pass. He also makes sure you are very very prepared for the weekly lab exams and midterms. Overall he's a really great professor!
Dr. Ford's class is extremely well structured, and he is a great teacher. Aside from showing up to class, there is not a lot of outside work that needs to be done. The class is consistent and well organized and Dr. Ford is an excellent and helpful teacher.
The GOAT!!!!
The greatest teacher I have ever had was an easy class but gave me valuable real-life business skills I'll use for the rest of my life.
Erik Ford is so awesome, he really wants you to succeed and will work with you to get you back on track. I got super sick and missed two weeks of class, assignments, and tests. I emailed him week 8 about it and he not only let me make up all the missing work, but allowed me to take the tests I missed in my discussion. TAKE ANY CLASS FROM HIM!!
Erik is an amazing guy who clearly loves his job and working with students. I found his class to be super useful in learning a hard skill as a business major. All of the content was well-organized and paced, easy to follow along. Definitely recommend a class with him!
Erik Ford has been my favorite professor at the UO. He not only has a lot of passion for business but is also there to support your goals in and outside of the classroom. Grade wise there are 3 exams each 20% of the grade book. The class average tends to be ~83%. 6+ Hours of study per test for an A. I would highly recommend you take BA 101 with him
2nd course I've taken with him, he's definitely my favorite professor at UO. His lectures were very clear and are very accessible for both pc and mac users. I used my ipad to watch the lectures while following along on my mac. This course was very enjoyable, and I highly recommend taking this course online so you can follow along at your own pace.
Erik is the best teacher at the UO. Super knowledgeable and cares about his students not just as a professor, but also as a mentor in the business world. Take a class with him and you'll walk away feeling like you learned so much.
Man I love this guy. He's wildly entertaining. He's just a regular dude with a day job that's also great at teaching. He teaches the same two courses and has for like a decade. For BA 101 just go to class and participate, and for BA 240 if the homework is hard, take advantage of the daily office hours and study sessions with various GEs.
Best professor at the University of Oregon. I also had him for BA 240 and these have been some of my favorite classes here. You can tell he loves his job and wants to see every single one of his students succeed, not only in his classes, but in life.
He is a great professor! I had never used Excel before this course, but he clearly explained every task. During the lecture, he walks through everything with you and pauses often to make sure everyone understands. He cares a lot about his students and really loves teaching this class.
I love ERIK. He is the best professor at the school. He somehow made Excel fun and enjoyable, and I actively wanted to learn it in every class. I would recommend him to everyone.
Erik ford is the best. BA 240 online is so easy to follow and he makes it his priority to make sure you pass his class. Even though there are exams every week he prepares you extra well and is hilarious during his lectures. Highly recommend.
Still the Goat. Couldn't explain the class any better. Pass/No Pass class you would have to try to fail.
Took his online class, easy to do at my own pace and still know the information. Lots of lecture videos but they are all at the most 10-12 minutes long with short and easy quizzes after each one.
Truly the goat. Easy, monotonous class made not boring by Erik Ford himself. The career aspects are helpful too. Passed easily
Content was really interesting and he obviously cares about his students a lot. Only needed to contact him one time outside of class, and he was very helpful and responded quickly. Lots of hands on work for a non-graded class, but all useful and relevant.
The goat. Everyone loves him for a reason, 2nd business class i've taken with him this year and such a fan. I preferred taking BA240 online, made it more simple to follow in my personal opinion. Easy class, P/NP so just do the work and you're fine. Can sometimes pile up and be a lot but get ahead and just do it and you'll be fine.
best professor ever. i loved this class and the material and everything was super clear.
Lectures super clear but often get very repetitive. Very good lecturer but if you understand the material then can get boring. Easy A if you focus and pay attention.
I have never had a professor at the university of Oregon better than Erik Ford. He genuinly cares so much about your well being and success in his classes. Not only that, but he's an amazing lecturer, super passionate, energetic, and engaging! Highly recommend any class you can take with him, you'll remember it forever.
loved this class so much. definitely was time consuming, 4ish hours a week on projects and homework. he makes it super easy to understand and is super easy to reach out to if you need any help. overall best class ive taken so far at UO
He's super chill, works through each formula step-by-step, and honestly I'd take the class again for fun!
THE ONLINE CLASS HAS 3 IN PERSON PROCTORED EXAMS AT THE UNIVERSITIES TESTING CENTER. The average score in each one of the exams was around 70%. Prof Ford is an excellent hilarious guy but some of the material on the exams made little to no sense. However at the end of the term he boosted everyone's grade by 5%
The online course is easy, as long as you follow the videos. He talks kind of slowly so I recommend to put the speed on the videos to 2x to speed up the assignments. There are about three big assignments each week that take an hour each and then an "exam" each week. But the exam is almost easier than the homework. Also a career fundamentals class.
Such a good lecturer really cares, homework after each class but it's so easy if you go to class and do all the demos!
Erik Ford is the GOAT for a reason. I took his BA 101Z class online this term and he was an absolute gem to work with. The lectures are interesting and he is very knowledgeable. He is easily reachable outside of class and always has a smile on his face when talking to you! If you can, take one of his classes. Doesn't matter if it is online or not.
GOAT. Same class as BA240 just renamed. Great professor, super knowledgeable class is easy and super useful and helpful. He is always available and wants to see his students succeed.
As long as you attend class, do the homework, and do decent on your labs, you'll have an amazing grade in this class. For BA169z (formerly known as BA240), the class will be pass/fail, and you only need an 82 or above to pass, so it is super doable. Just lecture-heavy and homework-heavy.
THE GOAT, best teacher I have ever had. I was always excited for class.
