Professor Harshman was a great techer. I had not taken a class in twenty years . He was patient and loves writing. He is the ideal teacher for a new student or a student returning back to school.

This professor takes his job seriously. He expects a lot, but is EXTREMELY helpful to all who are in need. He expects his students to be responsible for their work and showing up to class. He never criticizes, but listens and takes all questions seriously. An EXCELLENT teacher. ALWAYS on time and stays late if necessary.

I dreaded taking english and having to write papers, but Mr. Harshman didn't just give me a "C" or a "B" for my papers. He would edit them and help us through creating a great paper which in turn helped me learn what a great paper really looked like and how to create it. I highly recommend his class for the process of creating a great paper!

Professor Harshman is an outstanding teacher. 30 years have passed since I have been in school and with Professor Harshman's encouragement and knowledge of English, I received an A. I absolutely loved this class. The lectures made my day and the conversation flow is hilarious and constructive. There were no tests but there was a bit of homework and three essays. Nothing to be alarmed about. Harshman is really nice, helpful, and made class interesting. I highly recommend this class.

He cares about English. He cares about teaching at the college level. He's extremely intelligent. He wants his students to succeed. The only way you will fail is if you don't make an effort. If you participate, he'll help you until you get an A.

He's my favorite instructor at Meramec and one of the best teachers I've ever had. He does a fantastic job of keeping everyone in the class interested and engaged, and is an all-around great guy. I don't know about the other professors teaching ENG102 at Meramec, but I can promise you that you won't be disappointed if you take Harshman's class.

Mr. Harshmann was great! The outside of class HW was simple reading & answering questions- just don't get behind! The essays: He gave great feedback and as long as our first rough draft met the due date, we had the chance to turn in revisions as many times as we needed until we got a 100%. NO tests! His dark/witty sense of humor was a plus too!!

Dr. Harshman was by far one of the best English professors Ive had. I am not gonna say English 101 is an easy class, no English class is an easy A especially a composition class. I made sure to do all my essays and turn them in, he is great because he revises what needs to be fixed and you turn it in. Just be sure to do your essays and revisions.

Best English professor I have had. He made everything very easy to understand and you can easily be successful if you do the work. Class discussions are really fun and participation is worthwhile. This was the first writing class I didn't absolutely dread going to. Prof. Harshman really connects with the students, making him very easy to connect with and talk to. Very helpful and I feel like I'm coming out of his class a better writer.

Was one of the best professors here at stlcc meramec. Always had cool stories, kept the class entertained, even had an awesome Halloween party. Very open minded and supportive guy. Course load was perfect. He also only looked for improvement in writing and had extremely good feedback. No tedious busy work. Always available during office hours.

Mr. Harshman has tons of stories that weirdly at times lines up with the specific topic we have during that day of class. He's always there when you need assistance and is always willing to help. Which made the course less of a struggle.

Prof. Harshman was extremely helpful, understanding, and accommodating for me as I navigated through my first semester of college after being recently diagnosed with a disability. He even gave me helpful information about the access office on campus so that I could get accommodations with my other courses. Highly recommend taking his class.

Throughout high school and my early college careers, no professor has taken more time to coach and help students become stronger writers. Most slap a grade on the top and don't clarify why you got that grade. He will be more than happy to sit one on one with you and review and coach you on your papers.

Starting college I felt like the odd one out. Professor Harshman changed that when I took this in the fall of 2023. Being able to sit down with them during final portfolios really let me show them what I am capable of. I have never had an English teacher like that. I am glad to be able to have them again for the spring semester in ENG 102 as well.

Great professor for long gap returning students and students fresh out of high school. Very knowledgeable and is upfront about deadlines. Don't let them slip by. The syllabus is packed with info. Read through it and make notes for later or post it notes. If you have a question ask sooner than later. Professor Harshman is an asset to the community.

I enjoyed my ENG 101 class with Professor Harshman so much that I waited nearly two years to have him again in ENG 102. I do not regret it. He is engaging, his lectures are insightful, and he is very lenient about grading and receiving late work SO LONG as you communicate with him any situation outside of class you might be facing.

Prof. Harshman makes class fun and interactive; you can skip participating if you want, but class is much more fulfilling if you don't. He is passionate, funny, and clearly cares about both his subject and his students. The class is simple and requires 3 papers with revisions, no final exam, and no tests at all. Do the work, and you can't fail.

Professor Harsh$MONEYYYY hands down one of my best AP English teachers is one of the most understanding and fun teachers I've ever had. He's a fair grader and is super cool; the workload isn't too bad, and I would gladly have this teacher again.

Professor Harshman is a wonderful teacher! The criteria for the work are clear, and you have plenty of time to complete assignments. There are three essays to complete for the whole semester and a few homework assignments, but they're quite easy to complete. He gives great feedback, making it easy to fix your mistakes. So if you fail, it's on you.

Professor Harshman gives great feedback and made College Comp II a breeze. Final drafts of all 3 essays were due at the end of the semester so there was plenty of time for revision. Genuinely one of the greatest professors I've ever had the pleasure of having, I was always excited to walk into his classroom, very understanding about late work, easily reached, brought back the joy in English classes! It's almost impossible to have a bad grade In his class! I would absolutely take one of his classes again.

ENG 102 with Professor Harshman is a great class. Participation is key but it does not matter what you contribute during class as long as you are open and communicate. The class is engaging, he teaches clearly, is flexible with deadlines, and very accessible. There are few assignments and paper length is not strictly enforced. Highly recommended.

Easiest class ever - even easier than MS and HS courses (IMOH), no heavy workload, if any workload at all. And - he has jarringly brilliant writing.
