I really enjoy this class. He teaches in a way that keeps me interested. Overall, he's a really clever, layed back kind of guy who obviously loves his family and has some pretty strong ideologies. You'll laugh out loud at least twice a class. Has tons of good examples. The notes are a bit text-heavy but clear and make the readings irrelevant except for when writing the essays. Generally a hard grader. The honors section gets stacks of articles that help immensely with the essays but are forced to write a large (10+ pg.), extra paper.

Dr. Herzik is extremely one sided in his views on politics. Within the first minutes of meeting him you learn that he is a Republican and definitely teaches the class as such. I took PSC304 online "with him." The online written lectures he posted were clearly outdated (referred to Cheney as current VP). Also I received little to no feedback and there were no announcements or messages from him all semester. It felt like I was doing everything on my own. Even so, the class was fairly easy and straightforward.

This class isn't great in general, but Herzik makes it a bit easier. Be prepared for lots and lots of writing - (4 short essays/week). Prof. gives quick and thorough feedback that will help you improve. 75% of the grade is based on the final, but he will give hints here and there about what to study for. A pretty easy A if you're willing to study.

This is my second time taking a class with him. I really like the set up of the class. Its all online. Hes there if you need him. 1 discussion post each week and 2 test and a final. You can turn in discussions late for full credit. The lectures are slightly outdated but you get the point.

I am a Public Health major and I took this as an upper level elective. Given that I knew absolutely nothing about the legislative process, I have to say this class was doable. Tests are a piece of cake if you can figure out the study guides. Weekly quizzes and weekly discussion. No extra work besides the tests, which is nice. I would take again!

His class was fairly easy and he grades things very very quickly! There are 3 exams, weekly discussions and weekly quizzes. He did give one opportunity for extra credit. The course was interesting and up to date with current events.

I thought it was easy but material was dry. All online, a discussion and quiz per week. One open book test, one lockdown browser midterm and one lockdown final. All the three tests are essay and short answer for terms. He grades the test moderately fair. But overall not easy tests. Lots of readings and lectures online.
