This guy genuinely loves what he does! Go to class, do the weekly assignments, and participate and you will get an A+. NO TESTS! Weekly assignments are pretty easy, and Erik makes this boring topic extremely fun and relevant to daily life. Favorite class thus far.

I would take any class by Erik, even if I didn't have to. He made boring topics fun, and it is easy to see how much he loves this topic! I thoroughly enjoyed this class, and learned things that I actually retained! Take this class or any class taught by Erik if you get the chance.

Professor Johnston is wickedly intelligent & passionate about the topics he presents. PAF 300 is the ideal class for most students who are passionate about Public Administration or simply taking a good look at civic engagement & policies, & how they affect us. Hands down the best college course I've ever taken. He is so funny, friendly, and above all encourages creativity rather than standardizing everything. This class completely changed my mindset about public policy in a way that is hard to describe. The course has an online wiki page where TONS of information is presented to you. I originally took this class just because it looked easy but it turned out to be the class where I learned the most about myself, policy and public admin. MUST TAKE!

The material presented, you actual want to learn and replicate in real life. This class increases awareness of the community and broadens ideas, in a format thats different than most.

. Dr. Johnston has been by far my favorite teacher at ASU. He challenged me to think in new ways. He allowed me to believe in my ideas and pointed me to resources to take my ideas to a new level. As you (the reader) may have noticed people genuinely like this class and the professor is amazing. These posts are not a joke to get him credit, he simply cares about his students and wants them to succeed while making class interesting and actually fun to attend. It would be a travesty to humanity not to take a class taught by this man.

This is the most interesting class I've taken out of all my classes in college. He's a really easy teacher because he actually teaches and keeps you interested. Hes very intellectual but expresses it to the class in a way we understand and stay hooked in. Be in class and do hw assignments exactly how instructed. Impossible to fail this class.

Dr. Johnston made me want to go out and change the world by the end of every class. He uses complimentary videos that are funny and informative. (He got me hooked on John Oliver) No tests. Attendance is required, but why wouldn't you go? Assignment every week, some more time consuming than others. Would easily take another class taught by him.

Every week there is a good amount of writing but the topics are interesting. There are no tests and grading on what you write is based off effort put into it. This class is one of the most interesting, engaging and well structured classes I have ever taken. I highly recommend.

He understands the college student struggle!!! Work load isn't bad at all, have a weekly module that usually consists of a paragraph or two related to what you talked about during class. I actually look forward to going to class because the topics are always interesting and relevant. By far my favorite class in college so far!

Erik is the most inspirational and motivational people I have ever met, not to mention a great teacher. This class seems easy, only because you enjoy it so much that you do not realize how much thought, effort and work you are putting into the class. Show up, turn in assignments on time that only take like 15 minutes to do, get an A. No quizzes or exams. Seriously the EASIEST A at ASU. This is easily the best class I ever took in college. I learned so much and never even had to take notes or tests. Dare I say best professor Upset the class was only one semesters the only thing I looked forward to on Tuesday and Thursdays, even came to class during the rain. Don't know how to compare other classes to this one it's just drastically better in quality. You would be doing yourself an injustice in life not to take this class.

Overall great class really did challenge me to think outside of the box. I definitely developed different opinions on certain aspects of our world. However I felt he was a little degrading during his lectures. If you did not agree with him he would kind of tear you down and make you feel as if your opinion was stupid or didn't matter.

No tests or quizzes, just fun assignments that relate to the topics discussed in class. The teacher is amazing and he's the kind of guy you would want to have a conversation with outside of classroom setting.

I love the Wikipage he designed for delivering lectures and they are really informative. One advantage of his 7 degrees... Anyway, I am sure that students will get inspired by the questions and topics posed by him and I really enjoyed his class.

Dr. Johnston is one of the best professors I've had at ASU. His lectures are interesting and useful. Weekly assignments that are not difficult. I definetly recommend taking his class!

Professor Johnston resonates a note of hope and inspiration in every lecture. The discussions in class get very intense, and you have to be there to gain points. And there are no exams and the wiki module homework is due weekly. The only annoying part for procrastinators, like myself, is that the homework is due noon on Sunday.

He is the best professor I've had in college anywhere and I've taken classes at five different schools. He makes the class interesting and thoughtful. Johnston is one of the best professors I had at Arizona State! He is one of the few that genuinely cares about his students! The workload feels incredibly light, and we never once opened a textbook or had an exam. That being said, I learned more from this course than most others I have taken!
