He's very enthusiastic and knows a good deal, although he gets a little mixed up when he's trying to talk and do calculations at the same time. It's a pretty easy class so long as you're good with logic. I recommend making a study guide for each test, as he won't give you anything. The book is next to useless, as his powerpoints have everything.
Very good and enthusiastic teacher. You can tell his genuine, true passion for math. He explains everything step by step and asks for questions prior to starting each class period. Assigns a easy project worth 10% of your final grade at the end of the semester that he is even willing to check for you before submitting. Overall, fair and easy.
I am embarrassingly bad at math so it's not my strong suit anyway, but I don't think I got much help from him. When I asked questions his answers were very vague and essentially what he had just said, so I still didn't understand the concept. He's a nice guy, just not that great of a teacher.
Professor Miller is really energetic and outgoing in class, but he is not very good at answering questions or providing help to students in need. His tests are incredibly hard and no curve is given, which is rough if math isn't your best subject. I recommend avoiding this class if you can. The textbook is useless.
Professor Miller is an excellent teacher. Don't be worried about taking him from any negative comments seen here. He IS willing to help, you just simply must ask or go to his office hours. He is extremely passionate, and he explains things in detail and step by step. Work hard, study, practice with WebAssign homework, and an A is very attainable.
This was the first math class I actually liked. EVER. Professor Miller is the man- he's so energetic and obviously loves his job. I am by no means a "math person", but this class wasn't very difficult at all, it's very calculator-oriented. I would definitely recommend taking this class if you need the credit and aren't great at math.
Miller's class was very easy if you have a background in 10th grade level mathematics. Even if you haven't done math in 4 years, his powerpoints (which he made available) had a lot of examples that we'd work through in class and explained how to get the answers using the calculator. I recommended his class to my friend and she agrees.
his examples in class are essential to understanding the homework and the test. The group project is a joke. It's basically there for a buffer for your grade. It's designed so you get a 100, which is 10% of your grade. He gives partial credit on your tests and attendance is extra credit. Take him! He's great and very good at what he does
I am a language major and was dreading taking math. He made the subject really approachable. I have not taken a math class in 4 years. He really breaks things down and is good at showing the information in different ways. He was there to help if needed. Attendance is optional but the lectures are the test. 100% would take again. Highly recommend.
Dr. Miller is very involved in what he teaches and it only creates a more interesting learning environment. He knows everything thoroughly and can explain it in simple terms. He prepares you exceptionally well for the EASY tests by assigning lots of quizzes that are somewhat difficult but with endless attempts. Put in effort and you will get an A.
Don't underestimate the class. The material is easy but it's very easy to miss things on the test. Over study for the first test so you aren't blind sighted. Many people dropped the class after the first. Definitely doable class and he loves the material. He gets very excited to teach which makes the class easier to attend. Do not skip!
He is very passionate about math and it shows in his lectures. Homework is all online on ELC and is due before the test. You need to do the homework to help stay up to date on the lectures. He takes attendance and asks questions to the class via TopHat. If you don't come to class, you will miss out on valuable lecture material. Would recommend!
If you're really good at math & study a lot, you can do well in his class. I had a friend teach it to me b/c I got so confused and lost in his class. Uses tophat for attendance which you can get from someone, but it's hard to teach yourself the material if you don't go to class. He is really nice, but doesn't help you in class if you miss a step
Excellent teacher! Show up to class and get bonus points for just attending. More than willing to help you if you go to his office hours. Tests are basically the problems he goes over in class and homework has unlimited attempts. Put in a little effort and you'll do fine!
Professor Miller is extremely helpful and insightful. Homework is done through eLC and is pretty basic if you paid attention in class. Tests were very similar. Attendance is rewarded and didn't count against you. Such a nice guy
Dr. Miller was an exceptional teacher. He goes over everything several times and is extremely attentive in office hours. If you pay attention in class, you'll do fine on the tests. There are no surprises on the test. You don't need the text book because he posts all of his lecture slides on eLC. There are a few super easy group projects.
4Tests and a cumulative final. In it right now and have a high A in the class. The homework is kind of annoying online but it does help you on the tests. The problems are all similar. You have a couple group projects but they are easy. Id take him. He is very good with office hours if you need help. Don't get the textbook. He post slides online.
He's a great math teacher that made everything in the class really simple. Make sure you go to class as there is a sign in sheet everyday. As long as you pay attention and keep up with the lesson everything is very straightforward. He is also very helpful during office hours.
Erik is a great professor. He loves math, and you can tell in his lectures. There's 3 exams and 1 final and a group project. Math is probably my biggest challenge in regards to subject (all my life) so the fact that I did well shows its possible. You do have to work for your grade. Pick Erik if you want a super excited and passionate professor.
The class isn't actually pretty entertaining to be a math class. The professor is clearly genuinely excited about what he's teaching. The math is also pretty easy.
He is one of the most passionate math teachers I have ever had. He is really sweet and makes class entertaining. I hate math, so I had to work for good grades, but his tests are easy, WAY easier than any homework. You can try homework quizzes as many times as you want and they are just due before the test. I highly recommend him!
Okay so this was probably the worst math class I've ever had. He is monotone and oblivious to the class's boredom. He takes attendance in the 100+ class and uses every bit of the last 2 minutes of class to start a new chapter. It's ruthless.
This class was very difficult. Although he is no doubt very passionate about math and knows his stuff, he is not very kind when it comes to answering questions. If a student asks a question in a lecture, he very rarely answers it. It is possible to get a good grade, but it is a TON of work.
Pretty good math teacher. If you did the online "quizzes" which was basically homework and practice question you'd do well on the test. He replaces your lowest test w/ final if you do better. Moves pretty fast but is very helpful in office hours. Has printable lecture slides which helps follow along with class
Makes things way more complicated than they are, very hyper and kind of all over the place.
Very good teacher. A bit hyper at some points but prepares you very well for the tests, and if you do the online quizzes, you will have no problem getting an A. Also replaces lowest test score with the final and offers a grade boosting project.
Really great teacher. Recommended for people that have not been good at math in the past. Very caring and willing to answer specific questions in class. You have to do work but if you do its very possible to get an A.
Probably the nicest teacher I've had at UGA - helpful in office hours, explains thoroughly, and loves teaching. Do homework assignments he puts online, do well on the project, and come to class (sign in for attendance credit) to boost your grade. Tests weren't easy, but not impossible. If I hadn't taken him, I probably would've gotten a lower grade
I would take math with Miller again if I had the choice. He is a very passionate teacher and loves math, so he is very willing to help his students! You're only allowed a certain amount of absences, so make sure you show up. Keep up with the homework assignments and do the test reviews before each exam and then look over the reviews for the final.
Ha, alright let me just tell y'all what this man does. I raised my hand in class SIX TIMES.. SIX! and mr. erik miller stared right into my soul and ignored me. You have a question? that's funny. He'll either respond with some witty remark or not answer it. The lectures are too fast and I dont understand anything. Worst professor I have ever taken.
Mr. Miller is a great professor! If you struggle in math, I would take his classes. I've always struggled with it, and he made it seem easy. If you show up, (you should, because he takes attendance) actively listen, and do the homework quizzes, (you can take them as many times as you want) you will understand the material and do well in the class.
Goes incredibly fast during lectures and does not explain things in ways that are easily understood by the majority of the class. The class is pretty easy but he does not have a grasp on what students understand and gets frustrated by questions that he deems to be over simple material. He's very intelligent but not a great professor
Miller knows his stuff, seems to care about his students, and does his best to present material well. Due to the nature of the class he moves quickly, so it can be hard to keep up, but there's no reason not to do well in his class if you try. Takes attendance in a 100-person lecture even though attendance doesn't count towards the final grade.
Math Decision Making is a tough class in general. Pretty hard for the average person to understand the material, but Dr. Miller is a good professor and tries really hard to go in depth. You may have to ask for specific help, but he is always willing to help as much as he can. Made a 72 on the first test but a 96 on the last, all about effort.
Super nice guy! Easiest math class on campus. Consistent office hours if needed. Super explanatory and easy to understand lecturing style. You will fall behind if you procrastinate the very simple assignments.
He is so rude and refuses to answer any of your questions. He moves too fast in lectures and if you stop for two seconds to write something down you will miss a bunch and then you'll never know because he will ignore you if you raise your hand. Do not take him unless you want to have a horrible time in math modeling
he makes this class soo much harder than neccessary! you're honestly better off without taking this class, or without him as a teacher. when you do ask a question during class, he'll just tell you to stay after rather than helping you. he isn't very good at explaining... or he'll explain stuff that you don't need to know. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!
Took this class my freshman year, and it's still the only class that I've ever withdrawn at UGA. My mathematically inclined friends helped me with the hw and I'd still get a 40. Then, I hired a tutor and thought I understood the content just to fail the midterm. Was an extremely discouraging experience & lowered my morale as a student.
This class is honestly not terrible. If you apply yourself and do all the homework quizzes as you go through and not cram the night before they're due, you will be fine. Drops lowest test and replaces with final. Sometimes taught things a little harder than it should be, but if you go to the DAE review sessions you will be fine.
Miller is the snarkiest professor I've ever had. He blatantly rolled his eyes when students asked questions and told them to come to his office hours to "clear things up". This doesn't impede his ability to teach the class, however. He made it easy to understand most of the time, and allowed question time the class before a test.
Honestly this class was too easy. I showed up to class and took notes for maybe 2 weeks and then realized there was no need for them. The tests are elementary level and the concepts are pretty simple. Sometimes he can be unclear but these are things easily self taught. Quizzes were 10 times harder then the tests but you had unlimited tries on them
He is a good teacher but it was common for him to overexplain topics which became very confusing. The tests are harder than you would expect but not impossible if you go to the DAE review sessions and do the study guides. Don't think that this will be an easy A even if you took AP Calc in hs, it's not I took it thinking that it was, I was wrong.
In my opinion, Professor Miller was a good instructor. He explained the topics & answered our questions, occasionally he could over explain and be a bit confusing. He moves fast, but will backtrack if needed. He seems to care about his students. You have homework quizzes, three tests, and a final. There are some extra credit opportunities too.
Mr. Miller is a very nice man who seemed to complicate some simple subjects. If you missed a glass or zoned out for one, then you would fall behind and it's very difficult to catch back up. I would not recommend for someone who struggles with math, because he moves very quickly, but for people with a solid math base, probably a pretty decent class.
Most passionate teacher I've ever had class is extremely easy as well if you are even just a little good at math
Was frustrated when I learned I had to go backward and take MATH 1101, but I wish I would have taken this gem of a professor sooner! He is super energetic and passionate about math and applies just about everything to real life. Lecture quizzes daily, so it's a good idea to show up every day, but not required. Take Miller, you won't regret it!
Dr. Miller is super knowledgable and helpful within lectures. There is a good bit of homework and often quizzes given in lectures. He knows how to keep your attention and is very good at answering questions with a smile.
I started this class thinking it would be a breeze but if you don't pay attention in class and don't do the homework quizzes it is not. He speaks very fast so don't pay attention and you will be lost. He does put all the lectures online and is easily accessible though. Quizzes are very helpful, he post study guides, and the test are very manageable
Dr. Miller is a top-notch professor. He is passionate about what he teaches, cares about your personal success, and ensures that the class understands what is happening in his lectures. He encourages you to use office hours, which you should do! A lot of homework (2-3 hours outside of class) but if you go and take notes, you'll be fine!
Truly loves what he does, which makes the best kind of professors. Does a fantastic job at making lectures interesting and making sure everyone is on the same page. More than willing to help.
Hes really boring, but super helpful. If you dont understand something he will work with you. I was terrible at math and made high A's on the test because i went to office hours. Dont bother buying the book if you make sure you go to class. All homework, quizzes and test are from the lecture. Best teacher if you have to take this class.
Not the best teacher Ive had at UGA, but not the worst either. He will spend lots of time helping you with questions if you need it, but also assigns lots of homework and quizzes after almost every class. Between him and the DAE there are tons of reviews/practice problems for the test, so if you use your resources an A/A- on every test is possible
Dr. Miller is so passionate about the material, it's hard not to be engaged. He really cares about everyone understanding the material. Will go out of his way to ensure this. If you attend class, the tests arent difficult. Fair amount of homework, but nothing unreasonable. Dont buy the book! If I didn't loathe math, I would take his class again!
Seriously the nicest teacher Ive ever had. Willing to held you anytime you need, and if you utilize his office hours you can make great grades on the tests. For someone who hates math and is bad at it, I would 100% recommend him!
He was one of the best math teacher's I've ever had in my life! He was super helpful during office hours and really focused on every individual to make sure they understood. Even though i hate math, I did not mind coming to class because he was so passionate about what he was doing that I appreciated the work he put into it.
Best math professor! I recommend taking him!! He is very enthusatic when teaching! The material itself is not hard, honestly come to class the first week of each new unit to learn how to put it in the calculator & you do not have to show up again until the test! Homework is very easy and worth extra credit! Test are JUST like the study guide!
He is the sweetest guy ever. I have never given a teacher a 5 rating before. I am taking him again for Calc in the spring. Super awesome guy: gives extra credit just for doing homework on time, always ready to answer questions and always has a big smile. The class itself is pretty boring and calculator intensive, but it's not too bad.
Cares for his students, and really wants you to get an A. Extremely helpful, go to his office hours!! Gives a little extra credit here are there for turning things in on time. Love his class and I don't even like math.
super cool, caring professor that wants you to do well but doesn't thoroughly explain things during lecture. adds extra credit and drops a few hw grades but he will do certain steps without clarifying, which can be more confusing. spent a lot of time at the DAE with many others in my class. take him if math comes easier to you but avoid him if not
Erik Miller conveyed the material very well. He was always looking for the best way to grasp the attention of his students and did a fantastic job of keeping the attention! He was always available for office hours for further understanding. This was an 8am course, but he effectively kept a positive, and energetic environment suitable for learning.
TAKE HIM. He is so caring and tries hard to make sure his students succeed. You get unlimited attempts on quizzes and homework assignments and gives study guides that are just like the tests. All the lectures are posted on ELC and he drops your lowest quiz grades. Also adds bonus points to the final if you complete your homework on time.
Highly recommend him. There are lots of homework quizzes and lecture quizzes but there are unlimited attempts and he will drop your 3 lowest quiz grades. One group project but not hard to do and it'll boost your grade. He's super passionate about math and always willing to help! If you put in a little effort, it's easy to end with a good grade.
If math is an easy subject for you, I would recommend taking him for 1101 due to his passion about the subject. If not, look elsewhere. He doesn't clarify everything as he teaches which can make it hard to understand. I spent more time at DAE than I wanted to. One easy group project, drops lowest quiz grades, and homework everyday.
Professor Miller is probably the most enthusiastic professor at UGA. He is so excited to teach you. This class is not hard if you keep up with homework and do the lecture quizzes after class. You can get by not coming to class but going definitely makes it easier.
Dr. Miller is my favorite professor I've had! he is extremely caring and wants you to learn the material and do well. it is a lot of homework, but if you do the homework you are prepared to do well on the tests. he is extremely available and as long as you put forth a genuine effort, you will do well!
Professor Miller is extremely passionate about what he does and it shows in his teaching. He's always willing to help you when needed and does a pretty thorough job explaining content in class but this was NOTT an easy class at ALL for those who aren't the best in math. Spent a TONNN of time in DAE and tutoring. Hmwk nearly every day & 1 project.
Very enthusiastic about his job! He uses class time effectively, but sometimes can move a little fast. Lots of homework every week, but the test questions are just like the homework and examples in lectures. He does lots of examples in class, so make sure to go! Overall, an easy B but definitely possible to get an A if you put in the effort.
Mr. Miller is a nice guy overall but he overcomplicates everything. He taught with examples so nothing was ever really explained except in the context of the question present. Those two things made the class unnecessarily difficult . Tbh, it might be better to skip class and just look at the slides
I loved this class! It is easy to get a good grade if you go to class regularly and listen to the lectures. He gives handouts containing everything you need to know, and he's always available at office hours! Although the Webwork homework can be annoying, as long as you keep up with it you should be fine
Professor Miller is so nice as a person, but he makes math harder than it should be. There is also a ton of homework in this class, almost after every class! He really is passionate about math though, which makes it more enjoyable. I would recommend taking him if you could, as long as you're ready to work!
He takes attendance through Arkaive so you have to go to class to get credit. He is super passionate and wants to help you learn. If you go to class and do the assigned homework with minimal studying for tests you will be fine!!!!
Miller is such a good professor and you can really tell that he cares about his students! Although he posts powerpoints online, you will really benefit by showing up to every class because he really goes in depth explaining the practice problems. Lots of homework, but it really helps a lot with learning the new topics!
Mr. Miller is very enthusiastic about his job, and he makes sure that his students are engaged. Although there is homework pretty much every night for this class, it helps to get prepared for the tests. The test questions are very similar to the test reviews he puts out. He drops the lowest test grade and replaces it with the final.
quizzes almost every day that count for your H.W grade. I highly recommend doing them by the deadline because you can get an on time bonus totaled at 1%. Lectures are very easy to follow. After doing the H.W and practice problems fro the test you should be OVER PREPARED for his test. To understand how he grades his test go to office hours!
Professor Miller can be a little passive aggressive but he is very passionate about math. The homework assignments are very helpful and his lectures are as well. Tests were straightforward and the material was mostly calculator work. Definitely take Miller it was an easy A!
Professor Miller is so passionate about math and his students, and in his lectures he gets so into it and excited when explaining topics. He is always ready to answer questions in class or outside of class, and he really care for his students. Grades are test heavy, 3 tests worth 55 and final is 25, and 10hw 10quizzes. An A is possible if you work
Professor Miller is a very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and determined instructor. However, his knowledge often made it difficult to understand material; essentially, his level of thinking was sometimes still above my comprehension, even after he would simplify the question into different parts. It also takes a little bit of prying to get answers.
Erik Miller is AWESOME!! I really enjoyed him and his lectures. The tests and homework assignments are not that hard, BUT it is hard to make a high grade in this class since majority of the grade is based off of three 20-question tests. There is little room to mess up. But, the layout of his asynchronous course was really easy to follow!
Professor Miller explains things really well. His zooms are only used to answer questions you may have about the work. The material and study guides coincide with test perfectly.
The nicest professor I have had. It is is obvious he cares about his students and their success in his class. HIs class wasn't hard and if you just study a small amount you will do fine
He was not a bad professor. He helped as much as he could and answered every question I had. I am not the best at math but he did make some things enjoyable and easy to understand.
I literally had a 79.66 and he wouldn't round. After I had multiple meetings with him, tutoring, and extra help, and tried so hard and he saw it. A professor like that isn't one you want. The class is WAY TO HARD for 1101 and I took it to get out of precalc, but wish I had just taken precalc. My only C at UGA. Just awful and not caring.
mr. miller is a fantastic teacher- i hate math and im not good at it, but he worked really hard to help me, even outside of class. he is very prompt with answering his emails and gives very detailed explanations.
LOVED Professor Miller! I am not great at math, but he made it so much easier. He is truly passionate about teaching. If you go to class, you will be fine!
Mr. Miller is a great math teacher! He has videos up for each lecture as a back up, which are honestly great to help with homework. He utilizes the lockdown browser on tests, but lets you have a piece of paper with notes. He offers tons of office hours and extra credit in class if you show up. Overall a really caring, kind professor!
He really cares about his students understanding the content. The homework is set up for the students to improve rather than testing their abilities. In this course there is a project but its split up. Every assignment is broken up nicely, giving you plenty of time to get them done
I liked Mr. Miller as a person but as a teacher he is very hard to understand. He is very smart, but I don't think he is a good teacher. We had online assignments that take 4 hours to complete on top of MWF taking notes from videos, doing pre-class assignments, and worksheets, all that count for grades. He does not give extensions nor extra credit.
Professor Miller is an okay professor, but you can tell he loves math. Meaning, when he gets into a students question; he gets off topic of the actual question and does many unnecessary things. A lot of quizzes, cannot retake. No extra credit. For pre class it is easy to fail and assignment. Flipped classroom.
I loved Professor Miller as a person, but the class was pretty difficult and confusing to follow along. The tests are 50 percent of your grade but thankfully he will drop the lowest score if your final is higher and replace it with that. The homework helps a lot and the project can help boost your grade up.
I liked him as a person, but don't recommend him as a teacher if you're not naturally good at math. The curriculum is way harder than other classes and there are no make ups if you miss anything. There are lots of pop quizzes and it is completely flipped classroom. He is very confusing when answering questions and the lectures are not helpful.
This dude is very friendly and caring about his students, prioritizing their well being. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about math, sometimes he does trail off into the weeds a bit; its because he gets so wrapped up in the fun of solving problems. Ultimately a no BS but fair and equitable experience that's a bit heavy on HW.
I've had Dr. Miller twice and he is honestly great. If you put time into studying and do your work on time you'll be fine. He is great at explaining things and is great in office hours. Class participation is not mandatory but he does give random pop quizzes.
Such an awesome mathematics instructor. I have always struggled a lot with math and he really helped me stay on-track and understanding of the content. Very patient and open to any and all questions; doesn't make you feel bad even when you think your question is dumb
Miller is a great professor! He is so understanding and truly cares about his students. Although precalc is an assignment heavy course, he makes it easy and grading is clear. I would take his class again 1000% It is clear he cares for the students who make an effort and want to succeed. Definitely recommend!
This class was difficult for me however; Prof Miller is a great teacher. He is so passionate and caring. He wants to help you and offers so much time outside of class for help. If you go to class, pay attention, and put in the work you will do well.
Lotsssss of work compared to other pre-calc teachers that my friends have
The structure of this class is flipped and standardized, so there is little for instructors to do. Pre-classes are due prior to meetings, in-classes are done during, but are homework if not completed. ALEKS software work, quizzes every Friday, 3 exams, and a cumulative final. Erik Miller is very kind and loves math, but answers questions vaguely.
dr miller is so sweet but precalc is just a super course-load heavy class. he is very willing to answer any and all questions but you do need to be proactive to ask him
There was multiple assignments due with little time. The pre class assignments are graded on accuracy while the in class were completion. We were also given ALEKS for homework and it was usually due by the end of the week. Very strict on deadlines!
Good teacher I just suck at math. Very animated and excited about math/teaching which feels rare these days. There's a lot of homework, but I guess that's to be expected when it comes to calc.
I have never met someone who loves math as much as Erik Miller does. If you need to take Calc 2 or truly want to understand Calc take him he is awesome. He has so many office hours and will answer any of your questions, he is homework heavy but it helps with tests. His tests have very few questions so study hard for them but overall he rocks.
Professor Miller is an amazing person who is very passionate about math. Unfortunately, I was not too fond of his teaching styles. During lectures, he only taught about the main concepts of equations and then gave us activities to do in groups. It was really hard to understand anything that was taught. He is nice with lots of office hours though.
Mr. Miller is the BEST professor I have had at UGA. I took him for both Pre-Calc and Calc and I could not say enough amazing things about him. Mr. Miller has a true passion for teaching math and is willing to spend time explaining the content. If you have the chance to take either Pre-Calc or Calc with Mr. Miller DO IT!!!
Erik Miller is a great teacher and very passionate about math. His office hours are great and I really enjoyed his class. I am really bad at math so I was expecting a much worse grade but he helped me learn lots. Definitely take him if you get the chance.
Professor Miller genuinely cares about his students and wants the best for them. He is very enthusiastic each lecture and is always ready to teach. His office hours are extremely helpful and he will help those who are struggling with concepts.
I loved him! He was very understanding and was always willing to help in any way possible. If you do not do well on a test and do better on the final, he drops the test and replaces it with the final grade. Participation “quizzes” every class (one question). If you miss a class he posts course lecture videos each unit. Tests are online (proctored)!
He usually spends a good bit of time on each problem in the lesson plan breaking it down as simple as he can make it. He offers many office hours if you still need help. Homework quizzes have a week extension date on them, so no pressure really. And, he posts YouTube recordings of the lesson plans if you do miss class, but attendance is mandatory.
I liked taking a class with Professor Miller and would definitely take another with him if the opportunity presented itself. There is homework after every class on the material covered during his in-class lectures. However, he provides different materials on ELC that can help, such as online videos. Professor Miller is extremely passionate.
i hate math so i didn't really enjoy this class/try to learn. attendance is done through one question quizzes with codes, so if you have someone send it to you you don't have to go to class. lectures were very information heavy and if you don't understand math, pretty hard to follow. miller is a very nice and passionate teacher, but math just sucks
Professor Miller is a really nice guy. However, this class is very calculator oriented which was not a good way for me to learn. He teaches his class fast paced and myself and others sitting around me would often miss a step on the calculator and then just be lost for the rest of the problem/class.
This course had a LOT of homework, but honestly gave me all the practice I needed for exams so I didn't mind. I didn't believe it was hard, but you need to put in effort and ask questions during class to understand. Flipped classroom, but still teaches what you need.
Professor Miller's precalc class is a challenge, but he makes it manageable. The workload is heavy, with pre-class assignments, ALEKS homework, and frequent quizzes. However, Miller is understanding and willing to help - just be proactive. Using unstuck study alongside the textbook really helped me succeed.
Great professor with tons of help. Would definitely recommend taking Mr. Miller, he really cares about his students success.
He is a great professor and teaches really well. The class is easy and you should do well if you go to class and pay attention. The concepts once you get them are basic and easy they are just hard trying to understand it on your own so take the time it will greatly help. For someone needing a math credit I would high recommend this class
Mr. Miller saved my life bro when I say I wouldn't have passed if it weren't for him. This man is truly passionate about what he does and if you offer even a little energy to match you'll have an enriching experience in his class.
Lots of homework, vague lectures, and mandatory attendance. As someone completely new to calculus, his teaching style did not work for me. Lectures consisted of him doing problems on the board with little to no explanation. If you have a base knowledge of calc, he'd probably be a fine teacher. Very kind and encouraging but would not take again.
Professor Miller is very energetic and I felt he held my attention well, especially for an 8 AM. There are weekly quizzes and he tells you the day before what to study for, and the three lowest quiz grades are dropped. The tests are very doable if you actually do the online homework and the test review guides. Overall a good professor.
He goes really really fast in his lectures and if you already dont have a good base in the math youre not going to get it
I dislike calculus, and having him show his love of it is strange. Dr. Miller loves calc, and is very interested in the subject. I, however, also suck at math. I did all the HW and Lectures, and office hours and my average was still like a 60. He skips parts in his work, and has to spend 5 minutes of the class to fix his issues in his own work.
Dr. Miller is very passionate about calculus but has no business teaching it. He skips steps while working out problems. When students ask how he got from steps A to D he replies with,"its just arithmetic, I do it in my head" instead of explaining the skipped steps.More time in class is spent correcting his arithmetic mistakes rather than teaching.
hes passionate about math and is super smart. He goes fast in the lectures but he teaches it very methodically; expects you to have a strong background in precalculus. Hes invested in helping his students get good grades and is super helpful in office hours. My first test i got a 54,then 2nd test i got a 98 after seeing him in office hours
Amazing professor! Calculus is just hard! He is super caring and willing to help and work with all his students. Just make sure to have a solid study plan early on and go to office hours early on!
