Collazo is a decent teacher but she is also really awkward. She has this odd sense of humor that she invests in sex jokes throughout almost the entire semester. She gives a bunch of in class assignments throughout the year as a means of checking your attendance, but she's very understanding.
Erika is super nice and helpful. This class material in itself can be boring but she always has video clips or activities to keep the class engaged. She tells you exactly what will be on each test. Says the textbook is mandatory but I barely used it, she posts her lectures online. Definitely take her if you can!
Great gen ed class
I took a chance with this professor, since she had no ratings on this site. This professor is the best! I got an A minus in her class! Go to class, since she randomly assigns classwork (easy points toward your grade). Final isn't cumulative, super nice and helpful in office hours, funny in class, and great professor overall. Take her if you can!
Decent teacher. Hard to understand because she speaks very quietly and occasionally speaks some spanish. Very easy class for the most part, puts lectures online and I usually was on my phone during the class. Tests can be difficult though so make sure you study.
Easy class. you get 100 percent on most of the assignments if you just DO them. so do the assignments. minimal studying for the test, health is common sense. dont buy the textbook. never opened it, got an A.
Definitely take Erika if you can!! She is so funny, and makes the material much more interesting. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does give in class assignments that cannot be made up, so go to class! My favorite gen Ed this year!
Love Professor Vargas! Took her for GHTH 100 and she was funny, smart and really open-minded. The lectures are long but if you go you generally don't have to read the book. Not a hard class to get an A in but it requires a bit of studying. She has a lot of education in human sexuality and is overall a super cool and helpful professor!
Collazo has some of the easiest tests I have ever taken. Would just attend lectures, not take notes, not study, and still get high Bs. Lectures tend to be long and she is noticeably liberal biased in her power points and examples. Overall, just attend class and you will be fine. Should be an easy A with work, easy B with minimal work.
Health overall is an annoying class but I would recommend Erika if you can have any teacher. It's not an easy A, but if can be. As long as you read the chapters, go to class (she does random in class assignments), and do all the assignments including the passport events and the UREC assignment, you're good. Just keep up with the work, it's not hard
Dr. Collazo is really good. HTH 100 is a basic class, but her lectures are good, she posts all the powerpoints online, occasional 1-page papers, plus the standardized wellness passports and UREC hours, 4 tests. She's funny and class isn't mandatory.
Would definitely advise taking her for this class. It is an easy A if you go to class. There are a few random in-class activities and easy out of class activities. 25 gym hours are required also. The class itself is not that interesting, but she keeps it moderately interesting because she is pretty funny. She also lets class out early a lot.
Really liked her! She is actually really passionate about the subject (especially sexual health) so it makes for a really enjoyable, and often funny class. 4 Exams, all fairly easy and took me about 30 mins. She understands it's a Gened health class, and she is really down to earth, nice and definitely funny. 100% recommend her!
Professor Vargas is awesome!! Super kind, passionate about material, and wants you to succeed! I had her for two classes this semester, and I have enjoyed both! Tests aren't the easiest, but her expectations are reasonable!
Fairly easy gened. 4 tests and all are fairly easy. Some homework but extremely manageable. Would take again.
Erika tries to make this course as interesting as possible with comments and jokes, and has videos throughout her lectures. Lectures are still long and boring. Tests are moderate in difficulty, read the textbook and her lectures and you'll be fine. Mandatory attendance, outside assignments are straight forward, if not time consuming.
So cool and funny, always lets class out early. Tests are mostly common sense and all ppts are posted online. Takes attendance but you can miss 3 times. Easy hw and not a lot at all (I literally never did the readings so not counting those). Take her she's really cool and soo chill!
It can be hard to understand her sometimes because she is Hispanic. Very nice lady though, very sweet. I will forever remember her pizza analogy about sex. A lot of work outside of class, but that is for any HTH class. Overall pretty nice and not too difficult of a class.
I absolutely loved this class to the point where I am now looking into a health minor. Erika is extremely smart and her lectures were very interesting. Definitely recommend buying the textbook access code, I used those online quizzes to help me study for the tests and did extremely well. Attendance is mandatory but you want to go. Definitely take!
SHE IS SO FUNNY. I would love to take her class again, and i always looked forward to going. She is an easy grader, and is very enthusiastic about the subject. TAKE!
Erika is awesome she really tries to make lectures interesting with jokes and loves what she teaches. Tests aren't hard and all of the lectures are pretty much straight out of the book and posted online. Lectures can be long and boring sometimes but it's not too bad. Passports and fitness logs are annoying but required in any HTH 100 class take her
Erika was very straightforward on what she wanted. The 25 hr gym log and 4 wellness passports were a pain in the butt, but there were only 4 exams total and no quizzes. The final wasn't accumulative, nor was the midterm. It was just an exam of the chapters were learned at the time. Puts all powerpoint online. Just show up and you'll ace everything.
Erika was so funny and this class was so easy. You go over a chapter per class but the material is mostly common sense so it's not difficult. The averages on our tests were always low Bs and that seemed pretty low. Go to lectures and read and you'll get an A. But do your 25 hours at the gym and 4 passports or it will bring your grade down.
really liked her! she's very nice, cool, and funny. get the textbook. she takes attendance but all she does is go over powerpoints which she posts on canvas, & you need to study for the tests but they're not that bad. do the 25 gym hours and 4 passport events, they suck but they're a large part of your grade. she always let my class out early :)
great professor until you get to sex ed and then it gets weird. that being said, lady knows her stuff. I learned a lot and I laughed a lot. Only thing that sucks are the passport events and the gym hours, c'est la vie. get 'em done (personally i spent mine doing yoga and cardio dance party woo hoo) would recommend and would take again
Such an easy course. Her lectures were very boring at some points but other times she was hilarious! Take her!!
Professor Collazo is very funny and entertaining, especially during lectures about sexual health. She is pretty easygoing and gives a fair amount of work. Take her if you can!
GREAT professor, very approachable and reasonable workload for a gen ed. Nothing ridiculous, her lectures are entertaining, takes attendance, tests are easy if you go to class and skim the textbook. take her!
Collazo is a great professor, she's very funny and tries not to make lectures boring but they are long. Hardly any homework, but gym hours and passports count for a large part so do them. Lectures are online but she takes attendance. Tests aren't too bad if you look over the notes and the final isn't cumulative. Very reasonable for a gen ed.
Online textbook code is not needed. All of the textbook content is covered in class through powerpoints that she posts online. She is funny, and the class is not very difficult if you keep up with hours and passport events.
I would not recommend her to anyone. She is very one-sided with her views and teaches them as fact- condemning anyone who views things differently. Her tests are also way harder than they should be and her lectures are terrible and read straight from the powerpoint. Take someone else for this gen ed if you can.
Dr. Collazo-Vargas is a pretty solid choice for Health 100. The lectures get boring but it's all on easy stuff, PowerPoints are all posted online for you to review, and exams are generally pretty simple so as long as you study a bit you'll do well. Word of warning, though, she LOVES to call people out, so don't talk, text, show up late, etc.
Erika was a good health 100 professor. If you want to laugh take her class. She tries to brighten the boring lectures and makes the tests so easy. The wellness passports you have to complete are so easy if you do them early so don't be lazy and you'll get an easy A. She's the best choice for basic health.
Overall dull class but she makes it not that bad
She is a great lady, and knows what she is talking about. She is passionate about what she teaches and her class isn't hard to sit through. A few out of class essays, but very easy A. Wellness passport assignment is kind of annoying but its required for a health class.
I LOVED this class. She has very clear lectures that keep you engaged with little videos. Attendance is mandatory, tests are super easy if you look over the power points and pay attention in class. I would without a doubt take her again, she is great!
Tests are super easy if you read the chapters, and she posts her PowerPoints online, too. Be sure to keep up with the wellness passports and the UREC hours. Great choice for HTH100
Funny professor and her grading criteria is very clear. Her tests are really fair, just read over her slides and skim the textbook questions and you should do fine! Only thing I could say negative about the class is she takes attendance everyday so you need to be there (but you are allowed 3 skips). If she's an option for you to take, TAKE HER!
Textbook is helpful but not really necessary. She goes through her power points every class and never has reading quizzes. Exams are long but fairly easy. Overall not a hard class.
She's freaking hilarious. She makes those awkward sex lectures really fun but she is always sure to never take things too lightly or make jokes of serious topics. 100 questions each test, each question is super easy and straight forward. She posts all of her powerpoints online; theres alot of info, so you have to study, but its very easy! :)
Such a sweet woman! Absolutely loved her, she gave great lectures and kept things so interesting. She showed a lot of hilarious videos that had to do with the course material. She's so funny in lectures especially the ones on sexual health. Tests were super easy. Overall just the perfect professor. Definitely take her!
Great teacher for an easy class. Didnt study for the tests most of it is common knowledge.
She is a wonderful teacher and her tests are fairly easy. It's not too hard to get an A or B+ in the class. There are two essays throughout the semester which are pretty easy. attendance is mandatory, but you're allowed to skip up to four times throughout the semester. the in class assignments are also easy and usually take 5 minutes.
Professor Callazo is the best. She cares about what she is teaching and it really shows. She tends to let her classes out early and makes her lectures fun and easy to understand. I really enjoyed this class and kinda wish I was a health science major so I can take more of her classes. Read the textbook and the class will be one of your best.
So nice and understanding! Assignments are all very straightforward and manageable. There are 5 exams and you do need to study for them to get a good grade, but she posts all her slides and everything is directly from the lecture. She's very knowledgeable and really funny, especially with the sex ed
At first it seemed unnecessary for me to have to take a health class in college, but this class was great. Erika's lectures were super informative and interesting. This class is super easy if you just go to class and do the assignments. I didn't study for tests and would get A's. You're also allowed 4 skips throughout the semester.
Class is fairly boring because most of the material is stuff you've been learning since you were 8, but at least that means its an easy class. You have to attend a couple 'wellness' events and log 25 hours in UREC over the semester, a little frustrating but if you just do them they're a grade booster. Erika was funny though, especially in sex ed!
This class is minimal work. Lectures can be boring and attendance is mandatory (meep.) Four tests and two homeworks. Its an easy typical health class. Vargas is funny. Also, I bought the book and never used it. Would recommend her for health100 prof.
Vargas is hilarious and the class is easy. It's easier if you show up to class, but it's a gened, and she knows that. Material is fine, and she makes it interesting. Good professor, take her.
100% take her for HTH100! She is an amazing professor who really cares about what she teaches. She's the sweetest lady and is pretty funny. Lectures are interesting and the exams are straight of the powerpoints that she posts Canvas. There is very minimal homework and it's all completion. TAKE HER!!!
TAKE HER FOR HEALTH 100!! she's such a nice lady and really cares about you doing well in the class. her lectures are very interesting which helps you to pay attention. tests aren't super difficult but you should definitely review her powerpoint a little before. you could get away with not using the textbook, but it definitely helps
She's so sweet and very helpful
I am really like Erika I enjoy coming to her class. She is very clear on what you need to do to succeed. Attendance is mandatory, SO SHOW UP! You can miss three classes without any points deducted. She is hilarious and makes the class fun. It is an easy and manageable class. Her tests are straight forward, but study a little. I would take it again!
Professor Vargas is amazing! I loved going to her class because she made the entire auditorium laugh every time we met. Definitely take Health 100 with her!
I loved Dr. Collazo-Vargas's lectures, very funny and sweet woman. There are a lot of busy work assignments with this class that boosts your grade, tests are easy if you review the material and do the readings.
Vargas is the most solid choice for research. She starts you on the project at the very beginning of the semester, which is absolutely necessary. Tests are hard, so many lists, but dedicate a few hours a day a few days before each exam and you will be fine. Didn't use the book, she provides all slideshows on canvas. Expects the most out of seniors
Lecture heavy but she's hilarious and makes it so entertaining with humor. As long as you follow the directions on the assignments you get full credit. This class is basically like high school health class. Super easy, but attendance is required. Don't buy the textbook, you wont need it.
I thought HTH150 was a pretty easy class with her, there were a few assignments (profession research, resume, personal statement etc) but they weren't hard and I got 100% on all of them. Tests are a bit vague sometimes which makes them kinda hard, but the easy assignments balance out your grade. You MUST go to class, there are participation points!
Great lecturer who is very straightforward and funny. I always felt comfortable answering/asking questions in such a big lecture. I didn't use the textbook, just took notes during the lecture and studied the powerpoints. If you miss class too much she might penalize your final grade. All of the assignments are easy A's. Take her!
HTH150 is a dry class but she is so funny that she made it entertaining. She's one of the few professors that gives out assignments to help boost your grade, but she will take off points if you skip her class. Also if she catches you on her phone she will call you out in front of everyone. She cares and is so sweet, she will answer any questions!
This was a pretty easy gen ed. You should read the textbook if you want an A because sometimes tests include things that weren't mentioned in class. Do all of the homework assignments and you will be fine.
Vargas was hilarious, makes the lectures fun and engaging. Power points are online but you gotta study for the exams, they're 100 questions but fairly easy if you study. We also had two take home assignments that were graded very leniently.
In sum, if you want an A you have to read the book. Most of her test questions come from the book and power-points per lecture can be 50 slides. If you want a B, you don't need to buy the book and can get by with just a few hours of studying. This isn't a hard class, but if you want an A you'll need to work for it. The last 2 tests are the hardest.
great professor, makes lectures funny and enjoyable. you can skip a class but you may miss pop up in class assignment. you don't really need the book if you pay attention to the lectures. recommend for sure
Professor Collazo-Vargas is very funny. She is always smiling and cares about what she is teaching. The whole class is a lecture heavy class with 4 exams, no quizzes, and a couple easy homework assignments. She takes attendance every class but if you do miss she posts the power points. Exams are easy if you look over the power points.
TAKE VARGAS FOR 408!! She makes the class not as stressful as it could be. Very understanding and the class isn't too bad. Tests are straight from the powerpoints but there are short answer so you need to study a decent amount. I didn't buy the book. The research part is annoying but she makes it not bad at all.
I love Professor Vargas!! She is so funny and is very passionate about what she teaches. If you just look at the definitions in the textbook (I recommend quizlet) then you'll get at least a B on all of her tests. She also gives really easy take home assignments which help you receive a good grade in the class. Take her!!
Vargas is so sweet and funny and makes class enjoyable to sit through. Theres barely any homework and tests are all MC and not cumulative. Definitely worth taking for an easy A/B gened!
So Collazo Vargas is hilarious. She does in class activities and requires attendance so you could potentially have a sign in buddy but not recommended. Tests are easy and she posts a quizlet for them. Overall, take her.
She tries to be funny which isn't at first but then when she doesn't try its hilarious. She's so nice and really wants you to succeed. Her tests are 100 questions each and some are harder if you don't study for them at all. DO THE PASSPORTS and PHYSICAL LOG!! Easy points when trying to catch up from the tests. Final is noncumulative and easy!
HANDS DOWN EASIEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN HERE AT JMU. TAKE HER!!! 12/10 WOULD RECOMMEND.
Very sweet lady! Goes by lectures that she posts online, would definitely recommend
Nothing special, just a very nice lady who taught an informative, yet easy class needed for a gen-ed.
Awesome professor! Lots of buffer assignments to help you maintain a good grade.
Lectures can drone on forever and are mostly common sense information, but she is passionate about what she does. Health 100 has several outside of class assignments so she tries to give very little homework. She is also pretty funny, but don't get caught using your phone or laptop because she will call you out during lecture.
Super awesome lady! Explains everything very clearly and there are other assignments besides just exams to boost your grade. The test are easy if you just study what was covered in lecture. Loved the class!
I didn't mind Vargas, but Health class was so demanding. I wish I would've taken KIN. You have to go to 4 events outside of class for credits, and these are scheduled by UREC but usually only last an hour. They're harder to get to than you think though. In addition to this, you have to go to UREC for like 20 hours or so, which was a HUGE pain.
Take this class for HTH 100, there isn't a better professor. Everything is on the slides which are posted on Canvas. I never opened the textbook and I got an A on every test. Basically just show up and pay attention and you really don't need to study if you want a B. Minimal work, some stuff outside of class but so so easy.
Best. Professor. Ever. She is the nicest lady ever. There's quizlets for each test so as long as you study that its an easy A. Three 100 MC tests, minimal inclass and out of class work, no curving, no EC. Attendance is mandatory but she just passes around a sheet to sign in a 200 person lecture, so you can have someone sign u in. Overall, take her.
She's really nice, funny, and her lectures are so easy to follow. She posts the pptx to canvas and her tests are an easy B w/out studying. She makes a quizlet to help study for exams. I recommend taking Kinesiology because all HTH100 classes have to do UREC hours and wellness passports that are annoying, but Dr. Vargas is a great choice for HTH100
Very sweet professor who makes talking about some awkward topics (it is health, after all) very easy. She's funny and a great choice for a professor. Class isn't too bad but tests are very important to your grade. Tests based off textbook info so use it! 4 exams (including final), gym hours, passport events, and a few assignments for grades
408 is a painful class, but Dr Vargas makes it as smooth as she can. Work on project in little pieces all semester long so it doesn't build up, gives feedback on almost every section of the paper before turning it in to grade at the end. She's super approachable and really cares and wants to help.
This class is super easy. Prof. Vargas is super cool and funny and i love the way she talks. There are a lot of easy assignments and the tests are easy too. as long as you take notes in class you will be fine on the exams. i dont study and i get 90s on all the exams. she says to buy the textbook but you don't need it.
She's really cool and cracks a couple jokes every now and then, it's funny. She's really knowledgeable in the health field and explains things very thoroughly. Take her!!
Not a bad teacher overall. Her lectures are incredibly boring and she just teaches from a powerpoint but I guess that can be expected from any health class. be prepared to fall asleep in class lol. tests aren't that hard though. can skip like 5 classes.
Dr. Collazo-Vargas is an amazing teacher and I would 100% recommend her and take her again. She gives you all the information for exams, has a few easy assignments and tries to make class interesting.
Prof. Collazo-Vargas is so funny! Her lectures can be boring because of the easy material, but she tries to make jokes and plays interesting videos. You get 5 free absences without affecting your grade. Exams aren't too bad. Textbook isn't needed unless you want to be extra.
at the end of the semester you get TEN points off for EVERY absence you have missed that's over five. I know that multiple peoples grades are going to tank b/c of this absurd rule. she does not do a good job at communicating with students & she clearly doesn't care if you fail. DO THE UREC HOURS. overall do not recommend Vargas at all.
She basically reads off the PowerPoint. She's funny, but you have to study for the tests. The PowerPoints are long but she posts them on Canvas. The TA takes attendance but I don't think it counts towards your grade and you have some excused absences. The final isn't cumulative and there are some homework assignments that are easy 100s.
Great choice for HTH100. All of her slides are posted on canvas, which makes studying for the exams much easier. You have a good amount of easy little assignments which help out your grade. Make sure you sign up for passport events before they fill up. You get 5 free absences, but after that you lose points!! She is hilarious and helps you out.
Exams come right from the slides, which she posts online. Attendance is mandatory though, and all she does is lecture so try not to take it too early. Really easy grader, and she's super nice.
Lectures can be long and boring, but she makes things funny and entertaining. Overall a lot easier compared to what my friends are saying about their profs for this class.
She is hilarious and I wouldn't have wanted to take health with anyone else. Very easy class, I didn't pay attention at all and didn't turn in a couple of assignments and still got a B, so if you put in literally any effort you'll be fine.
Dr. Vargas is by far one of the greatest professors. She keeps the class interesting with her bubbly personality and makes uncomfortable topics not awkward. Tests are pretty much common knowledge, and don't bother renting/buying a textbook cause you will never need it
I really enjoyed this class, she makes "awkward" topics fun to learn about. Don't bother buying the textbook because all her power points are posted online & there are tons of quizlets online to help you study for tests as well. Do all the homework, passport events, and physical activity hours and you'll have lots of cushion room for test grades.
If you take HTH 100, definitely take her class! makes awkward topics funny and is a very personable lady. super easy grader and the tests come right from her powerpoints, so no need to buy the textbook. had some trouble turning in a few assignments so I went and talked to her and she was very understanding and still gave me full credit.
This class is super chill. She makes all the topics relatable to college aged kids as she knows it is a gen-ed. Even though class is mandatory, you can honestly just show up and zone out and still get an A. Exams are fairly easy, just look over the power points the night before and you're in the clear. The best lecture is the last one! (so go)
So easy! Take her
Overall, really enjoyed the class. Erika makes it very entertaining and interesting. Reading the textbook really helps but if you miss reading it once or twice, you won't do terrible. She does a good job going over everything in class.
This class was a good gened. Erika made the boring stuff fun and interesting. I would definitely recommend taking this class with her. If you show up to class you will definitely be fine!!
She is a great professor, she made an early health gen-ed a pleasure. Would definitely recommend.
She is a great professor! She makes the class interesting and the class is easy. She posts her lectures on Canvas, but she records attendance. Her lectures go over everything that is on the test, so I did not use the textbook. The tests are pretty east as long as you study a little and it's usually multiple choice, true/false, and matching.
If you pay attention to the lectures, you will for sure receive a good grade. Small details tend to show up very frequently on her tests. Homework & other assignments were very easy & required minimal effort. Even if the due date passes, she will still receive it for full credit if you go talk with her. Makes health very enjoyable & interesting
Vargas is awesome and gives a pretty clear path to an A if you want it.
One of the best professors that I have ever had! She is hilarious and makes the lectures understandable and fun. She relates to many current topics and the assignments that are given are not difficult at all.
Grade consist of four non-cumulative test, a few easy in and out of class assignments, passport and wellness log. Easy A if you put forth the effort. Textbook can be useful when studying for the test. She is hilarious. Take her!
She's an amazing person and professor - her expectations and grading criteria are crystal clear, exams are fair, good balance of assignments and exams, and while it's lecture heavy, she's funny and keeps it interesting. As long as you pay attention and complete outside assignments this class is an easy A. Absolutely take her if you have the chance!
She is one of the funniest and most caring professors I've had at JMU. She keeps her lectures interesting and is always making jokes throughout them. There are three homework assignments throughout the semester that are easy and don't take long. Four tests, including the final which is not cumulative. Definitely the best choice for Health 100.
Vargas is such a sweet woman and might be the easier of the 408 professors. Her exams are based off her lectures and the textbook, final exam is cumulative. Like all 408 classes the huge research project takes up the entire semester. Her instructions are a bit unclear and confusing but asking her questions during class time helps a lot!
She does her best to make the process as easy as possible and she's very helpful throughout it. She's very understanding and accessible for help out of class. Her exams are lecture and textbook based. Instructions for the whole project are on the syllabus and are pretty clear so reference it throughout the semester. She makes it an easy A.
If you are taking Health, take it with her. The class will be boring no matter who you have it with, but she is easy and does her most to make it interesting.
Lots of tedious assignments outside of class. Lectures are the best you are going to get for a health 100 class. BEWARE: getting an A on every test won't matter if you miss certain assignments. Take note of certain stats she mentions in class.
LOVE. HER. She is so funny and makes a boring class fun!! She takes attendence every class. If you read the powerpoints and pay attention in class you'll get a good grade. The final is non-cumulative. She's such a fun professor! When taking Health TAKE VARGAS!!!!
Currently in her class. Very disrespectful unprofessional. Im a great student (deans list), show up to class, and take notes. Completed and submitted and assignment on time, but she refuses to grade me and gave me a zero. Will not respond to any emails and threw a fit when I asked her about it after class. Dont waste your time.
She is AMAZING!! Probably the best teacher youll get for Health 100. Lectures are boring but she tries her best to make them funny and she does a good job. Theres a few at home assignments but theyre super easy and the final is non cumulative. Just do notes and the assignments and study for tests and youll be fine. She does take attendance.
Dr. Vargas is seriously one of the best. She is so understanding, and the class is so easy by how she does things. The tests are super simple. TAKE HER! She makes jokes when she can to keep us interested. Literally love her.
I love her! She is the best health professor by far. She gives lectures and her tests are pretty much straight from the notes. Her lectures are actually really funny, and she adds in videos and stuff to make it not boring. Definitely take her for a fun and easy Gen Ed health class!
I love her as a professor! She does a great job lecturing and adds interesting or even funny videos. Im a first semester freshman and shes my best professor. She makes health 100 interesting and even gave an extra credit assignment to help boost grades. The tests are straightforward and not meant to confuse you.
Dr. Vargas is a very good teacher, but she moves fast so it's hard to take good notes. Her tests are rather difficult for a gened health class, but if you study and memorize terms you should be fine. Textbook is "used" but doesn't really help. She is a clear, straightforward professor.
She is hilarious and will make this boring Ged Ed more tolerable with her lectures. She's a fan favorite. The final is not cumulative, definitely the best choice for HTH 100.
Easiest Gen-Ed I've taken at JMU. Most all content is general knowledge. You DO NOT need the textbook, despite what she or the syllabus might say. Make sure you turn everything in on time, attend lectures (even though it's boring content), take a couple notes (or mental notes), and show up the 4 exams (non-cumulative final), and get a good grade.
She takes attendance so you have to go to class. Super easy A, and she is funny so the lectures aren't horrible. Tests come directly from the powerpoints and textbook. I didn't buy the textbook, I just studied the powerpoints and got an A.
Dr. Vargas is super funny and it doesn't take much to get an A. I stopped taking notes after the first unit and only used the book and powerpoint to study the night before an exam. If you take note in class don't waste money on the textbook. Every assignment is out of class and somewhat time consuming for what the course is. All grades are final.
Vargas was an awesome professor and super funny. dont get the textbook though because she does lectures on everything you need to know for the tests. super easy A.
Dr. Collazo-Vargas is a good choice for 408. Her tests are very straightforward and the semester long project is fairly interesting. One thing I will say though is she never fully answers the questions students ask her, she is always a little confused. Her instructions on assignments can be a little confusing too. Other than that, a good professor!
Easy. Dont buy the textbook, you seriously dont need it. Her tests are non-cummulative, and they're solely based on the powerpoints (which she posts on Canvas as well). Her TA creates Quizlet flashcards for each exam, so this class is really simple as long as you study a day or two before each exam!
love this professor. her class is pretty easy but you have to show up to get the grade. tests are exactly the lecture and powerpoints. Vargas is easily one of the best teachers at JMU for health 100. I learned a lot in this class and textbook wasn't used at all even tho she says its needed. Take her for an easy gen ed credit!
This class was so boring, but one of the easiest HTH100 classes. The tests are super long, and can be hard but if you really study theyre straight forward. Overall worth choosing her compared to the other professors but not a super easy A.
Erika is great! she's really nice, funny, and interesting. always encourages students to be open and ask questions and share perspectives in class. Doesn't use textbook much. as long as you follow her PowerPoints and study the Quizlets (provided by her TA) it's an easy A!
She's really sweet and not too bad of a class at all. The tests aren't too difficult at all, you just need to study for like 30min to an hour before and you should be getting a B or A. I only got a B+ not an A because I never went to class and she takes attendance.
Prof. Vargas is a good choice for HTH 100. She is nice and is straight forward about her lectures. Easy class to attend even though lectures are boring if you took health and bio-related courses in high school. Only 4 at home assignments across the entire semester. Tests are simple but just study quizlet and straight from powerpoints and your good.
Dr. Vargas is so funny! I hate sciencey classes usually, but she was an amazing professor. She was always joking around, but was super knowledgeable about everything that she taught. I thoroughly enjoyed her class.
LOVE HER!!! honestly if you show up to class and listen to her lectures, you will never have to read the textbook and you will pass. her lectures are hilarious and entertaining for being a health class. very clear grading criteria so if you red the directions you'll get an A on assignments. kinda hard to reach outside of class, but 110% recommend
Great professor, easiest class ever.
Good professor!
