One of the most caring profs I've ever had. Her lectures can be disorganized, but success in her class is very obtainable. Quizzes and the final exam were open-book and untimed. Optional assignments could be completed to boost your grade. She offered many resources to ensure you were on track, including online meetings during evaluations.

Erika was very kind. However, as a professor I am not a fan. She was typically late to lecture or cancelled at the last minute. Classes and notes very unorganized and minimal material. Quizzes untimed w/ no due date, but took forever to be graded. H ad to teach myself the material, definitely don't take this class if you need chem in the future.

Erika is the most considerate and accomadating prof I've ever had. Unfortunately, it can almost be too much, as some may struggle to learn with such little structure and no hard deadlines. Success is extremely attainable in her course. Take her if you need an easy pass, go with a more structured prof if chem is important for your future courses.

Prof. Merschrod is incredibly caring and accommodating. Her leniency with quizzes and assignments makes the course very manageable, though lectures can be disorganized. Using Unstuck AI and the textbook were key to success.

If you are anything like me and expect to do chemistry when doing a chem course: DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE. Oh my god her course has been nothing but a headache--and I can tell she cares and really wants us to do well, but she is just so bad at teaching. All material needs to be learned in your freetime, and don't even get me started on her ABC method

The most accommodating prof ever. Would definitely recommend if you have a heavy course load and only need to pass the course, however maybe not if you actually need to learn the material. Having flexible deadlines and an online, untimed final was so helpful. As a busy Eng student she made my life a lot easier.

Dr. Merschrod was very accommodating however, the lectures had barely any material used in the tests. Lectures were honestly a waste of your time. If you enjoy group work, she often groups students for practice sheets. All quizzes and the final were online. The course is an easy A, but if you need to know the material, I wouldn't recommend.

Like many other reviews, if you need to take CHEM1050 as part of your degree, or actually care about chemistry at all, please please PLEASE do not take Merschrod. Text-heavy notes, loose explanations, not showing up for lectures with maybe 5 min notice at best. High grades are given simply so that she appears to be a good teacher to the department.

The course was taught in a very untraditional manner from its delivery methods down to the textbook and it was very difficult to gain a sufficient amount of new knowledge. It left me doing more work in the following chem course to do well. Very nice person with a lot of knowledge just not a great course when you need to know this chemistry well
