Uses the Harkness Method in discussion sections. Students lead discussion and TA keeps quiet. Everyone gets a group grade out of 20 points each discussion based on student interaction and how many people participate. Lets you choose the format of each test. Lectures are interesting, she tries to engage with real world examples and videos.

By far the best Prof I have had at BU. She is super engaging and enthusiastic, very willing to meet for office hours and explain topics. She's pretty nice and she tries really hard, but she goes really fast, doesn't always explain things well and doesn't post her slides online for review. The only work you need to do in this class is to study for the 4 exams throughout the semester. Each exam could be 2-3 chapters. She's extremely lenient -- she's made us vote for the test date and the amount of chapters. The exams are pretty easy and if you get the textbook you don't really need to pay attention to the lectures.

She's nice, and genuinely wants students to do well. But she doesn't explain things clearly, puts questions on exams about material that hasn't been covered, & is just generally a hot mess insofar as teaching is concerned. The lectures were interesting, but they also moved pretty fast-- definitely take notes carefully, and also be aware that discussions use the Harkness method (participation-based grade) to look at additional readings; discussions aren't really used to directly go over lecture material. By far the most disorganized professor I've had at BU. She's the only lecturer I've had that both doesn't record lectures or provide some source to get information to study outside of lecture and is pretty unclear on exam content and her exam questions tend to test more on memorization of specific terms instead of understanding of the material.

Despite what other reviews say, Wells isn't that bad of a professor, but the content and her teaching style can be difficult for some people. She is very passionate about what she teaches and has many quite strict rules in the class. The homework is super easy, and the exams are very easy as well if you go to lecture. Discussions were mandatory and you have to participate to get a grade and she also had surprise syllabus questions in lecture though lecture itself is not mandatory.

Dr. Wells (now Tullgren)'s PS261 is a pretty interesting class, and Tullgren herself has a pretty caring personality. Her grading criteria is clear, exams are pretty easy. But, her syllabus is pretty cutthroat (no dropped online quizzes/hw so it sucks if you miss one). Lectures arent mandatory but she doesnt record lecture or give lecture notes.

Her last name is now Tullgreen FYI. I dont know why she gets such bad ratings, there has been worse. My only advice is to keep track of when all the online quizzes are and NEVER miss a discussion because that will tank your grade. The class is doable it is just the tedious assignments that make it rougher. I recommend nonetheless.

Prof. Tullgren is not that bad. She's speaks fast but will stop if you have a question. Very kind especially if you form an actual connection with her. The class was very interesting but its important to take good notes.
