Uses the Harkness Method in discussion sections. Students lead discussion and TA keeps quiet. Everyone gets a group grade out of 20 points each discussion based on student interaction and how many people participate. Lets you choose the format of each test. Lectures are interesting, she tries to engage with real world examples and videos.

By far the best Prof I have had at BU. She is super engaging and enthusiastic, very willing to meet for office hours and explain topics. Lets you choose the format of each test and is willing to push back tests if the class is moving slowly. Discussions are vital to the grade as is attendance because she doesn't post slides online.

The only work you need to do in this class is to study for the 4 exams throughout the semester. Each exam could be 2-3 chapters. She's extremely lenient -- she's made us vote for the test date and the amount of chapters. The exams are pretty easy and if you get the textbook you don't really need to pay attention to the lectures.

She gives pop quizzes often, but I think it is helpful because it helps us to stay on track. We collect our own data in class to run the statistical tests, so that means that are fun activities like using MnMs to learn probability and rating the likability of cookies! Prof Wells is the best. I took MA115 and dropped because it was so hard. I can now say I finally understand stats. Whoever complains about her online lectures doesn't have any idea what it could be like. Take MA 115 and you will get it. This is not an easy A but at least you won't fail.

Awesome class. Loved all the real world examples we learned in social psych. She doesn't post lectures online. People should stop whining about that because this is freaking college. You should be in class. Lectures can be fast but she always asks if we got everything. She always tells us to give her the universal sign to slow down!

Professor Wells is a tough grader. Her class is one of the hardest ones I have ever taken. She is available after lectures but she doesn't help much. You are expected to know everything mentioned in lectures and the textbooks for the exam. (There are three exams in the course.) However, the course is, irrefutably, interesting.

Dr. Wells is super fun in class and I took her for PS 211 and PS 241. The PS 211 is a hybrid statistics course where you have to listen to her lectures outside of class and then during lecture time you work in groups to go over problems. I found this super helpful. In PS 241 her powerpoint slides are really dense and she does not post them.

Professor Wells is a wonderful professor, very interesting and makes developmental psychology clear. I have felt that I am set up for success in her class and definitely recommend taking her classes. She is a very kind and funny teacher and her lecture is one of my favorites

Love love loved Dr. Wells. I took her Social Psychology class and really enjoyed it. She is very kind and passionate, and clearly has a love for psych. One tip for the class is I would focus more on the textbook than her lectures because the exams were always textbook heavy.

Amazing professor! She made Social Psychology one of the most interesting things I have ever studied. Her lectures are fun, easy to follow, and sometimes even funny. As long as you pay attention and study you will do well. Going to try to take as many of her classes as I can.

Dr wells is clearly an expert in her field. And she has a very interesting way of teaching stats. I am no math whiz and she made it understandable.

Dr Wells is absolutely amazing. She uses her own grading system which is out of 314 which is awesome because you have so much room to get points and get that A. Go to every discussion it helps a lot and make sure you do all of the online quizzes.

She is great because she tells us exactly what we need to know. She is also so descriptive so it makes it easier for us to understand the concepts she is trying to teach. She also shows cute funny videos. Definitely would recommend her for PS101.

Professor Wells is great! PS211 is definitely a lot of work, but if you do the homework, show up to class, and go to office hours an A is definitely attainable. The flipped classroom method is different; however, for this class I think it works really well. People who struggle tend to be those who don't watch the podcast and don't come to class.

Wells is a good lecturer but you need to be ready to take notes during lecture. Skipping a lecture can result in you losing 3 points because there are random attendance checks. You def need both the book and her lectures to do well on the tests but if you study them the tests are straight forward! The topic itself is so interesting.

One of the best professors I've had at BU. Lots of reading and work needs to be done outside of class but doing so isn't difficult -- as the material is interesting. Her exams are extremely straightforward and she is very approachable outside of class. She even inspired me to take up psychology as a minor! Would definitely recommend her.

I took the PS211 course. Prof. Wells managed to make math fun! Most classes are interactive, she asks insightful questions and make sure we understand the reason why we do certain things in class. She's very helpful and very creative.

An incredible professor who goes above and beyond for her students. The papers for discussion and the book were usually fun reads that prompted a lot of thought. Always made time for me outside of class even after the class ended! If you ever get the opportunity make sure to take the a class with her!

Wells makes math interesting by connecting what we learn to psychology concepts. Her lectures are hands-on and fun--she splits everyone into groups to simulate experiments and connect them to what we learn. In order to succeed on her unpredictable tests, you MUST watch her pre-podcasts, go to lectures (which aren't recorded), and do the homework.

She made the lectures interesting and interactive. It helped that social psychology is an interesting topic to me to begin with, but I think that her teaching style was clear to understand and enjoyable with lots of connection to today and the real world.

Professor Wells is an incredibly sweet, hilarious, and knowledgeable professor. I genuinely enjoyed her lectures and the essays really werent too difficult. Her tests, however, can be killer. Theyre very difficult if you didnt take good notes both for the lectures AND the textbook. Keep this mind going into her classes and you will succeed.

I'm genuinely convinced everyone who finds her rude just doesn't get her sense of humor, I found her hilarious. Just ask questions as soon as you don't understand something and she doesn't mind. She was very patient with me even though I am terrible at math

She fully understands students' situations. She can use thousands of ways to explain one thing. I never be afraid to ask her questions because she never make me feel that my questions are stupid no matter how simple the question I ask. Although each of her lecture contain a lot of things, you can actually learn.

Not sure what everyone is complaining about. This was the best prof at BU. She discussed accommodations even when I didn't think I could get them. She truly cared about me! I learned so much about stats from her and I used everything I learned in grad school. I was so prepared.

I've taken 2 classes with Professor Wells already and am planning to take another. Her lectures are straightforward and it's obvious how much she cares about her students. It's evident that she cares about her students education and loves what she's doing. I would recommend her to anyone.

Her lecture is organized, addressing interesting application of social psychology concepts. She also made attempt to infuse some humor to the material. Exam questions are all MCQ and contained in the course materials.

I really enjoyed Dr. Wells and took her for both PS101 and PS261. To pass, all you have to do is attend all lectures and pay attention by taking notes. Her lecture style of minimal words on slides really worked for me as it is engaging. She's very understanding and more than willing to go over hard concepts if asked to.

Dr. Wells is awesome and has the best lectures! You have to hand-write notes but u get used to it after the second lecture. Do homework 48 hours before the deadline and you get 5% extra credit on the assignment. She also gave out 6 extra credit points at the end of the semester LOL. If you love learning about ppl, this class will be a breeze for u!

I'm shocked at Professor Wells' rating. She explains content thoroughly, encourages questions and will re-explain concepts if need be. The material is hard, but she makes it so much easier with her teaching style. Literally all you gotta do to get a good grade is show up and take notes (so basically... be a student). #justiceforprofessorwells

She is a professor that you either like or hate, but I really liked her lectures. Her grading is straightforward and strict but her tests are not that hard if you have went to lecture or read to textbook. Both her and the TA was super knowledgable and kind. Many other people in my class found her to be a lot better than the ratings.

Professor Wells is such an amazing professor. Everyone is only complaining because they have to actually go to class to do well or she has trouble with some things because of her ADHD which she literally says in the first class. I hate stats and am a mediocre student and I still got an A-. The only complaint I have is that the TA is no help at all.

Professor Well's lectures follow a rapid pace, and if you miss certain bits of information from them it will be difficult to succeed on the exams. Her exams ask extremely nuanced questions that are based off of lecture information: some of which is not in the textbook. Prepare to have your focus streamlined during lecture.

All you have to do is show up to lectures and take notes. She gives study guides of terms to memorize before exams and I have passed both so far with just a bit of studying. The TFs are pretty easy graders and you get extra credit on homework for turning it in early. These reviews scared me at first, but this class is actually easy if you show up.

i loved having dr. wells as my professor for ps261! i took this class my freshman year and loved the class! material is very lecture heavy so if u wna do well on the tests, u hv to show up to lecture, but other than that, she was a great professor. you can even get extra credit if you turn in the homework 1-2 days earlier than the due date!!

I've never rated a professor before but I wanted to for Dr. Wells. This was the best class I've ever taken. She explains everything in a way that makes it so much more interesting and easier to remember because you actually understand the material. I wouldn't be exaggerating to say I'd retake her class just for fun.

Go to lecture, take detailed notes (ask her to slow down if you need it), and go to discussion. Her lectures are engaging and enjoyable. Go to office hours with questions! Only thing I'd say if you are not an auditory learner this is not the class for you, her slides do not have a lot of text.

Lecture participation is not mandatory but 100% go to lecture if you want to do well. Discussion participation matters, and as long as you contribute once you will get full credit. Personally I think she is hilarious and seems to care about students. Tests are easy for the most part, some questions are worded weird but she drops them if necessary.

idk why she has bad reviews on here because her class (PS101) is fairly easy and she is so nice. the only bad thing is that she doesn't put all of the info on slides, so you actually have to listen and take notes.

I had Wells for PS101. She was very funny and caring and allowed us to make many decisions on the class, such as when we wanted to have our tests. The discussion section of the class was also very helpful and insightful. She gives a lot of extra credit too.

Despite what other reviews say, Wells isn't that bad of a professor, but the content and her teaching style can be difficult for some people. I found the early content to be extremely boring, but when we got to social psych I found her to be really engaging and passionate. Word of advice: Definitely attend lectures and make use of the textbook.

Professor Wells is an excellent lecturer and as long as you attend the lectures and take notes you should be great. going through the textbook is a plus. She also makes sure to engage students through numerous examples and videos! not to mention she gives tons of extra credit. would definitely take one of her classes again!!

Dr. Wells is an awesome professor and lecturer. Going to lecture is not mandatory, but very important because there is no recorded lectures and what she SAYS is important, not just what is on the slides. HW 1x per week which could be a quiz or a short essay, but LOTS of extra credit offered. Def recommend!

Great Prof. and straightforward class. Do be warned that lecture slides have almost no writing on them so you do need to go to class and listen to her, BUT she is engaging, knowledgable, & organized. Grade determined by homework that is 1x/week as well as 3 exams. Lots of chances for extra credit. No laptops allowed so you have to handwrite notes.

I don't get why she has so many neg reviews. Dr. T (not Wells anymore) is passionate about psych and it shows in her lectures. Her slides are vague, but the whole point of going to lecture is taking notes. Listen and write what she says down. She cares a lot and provided resources on how to better study for exams. She has made me enjoy psych more.

Dr. T's lectures were always really interesting and she gives a lot of helpful examples, although she does go a bit fast sometimes. While lectures are not recorded and there are few words on the slides, if you take good notes and review frequently it's not that bad. Also, while attendance isn't mandatory, you will fall behind if you don't show up.

I had NO problems with this professor. There is extra credit for turning in homework early for EVERY homework. She will answer any question you have in class and will repeat anything. Textbook is useless to buy. It is easy to do well in this class if you take detailed notes and attend all lectures. She is very personable and has great anecdotes.

Class was very helpful for myself. Attendance is not mandatory, but it does help substantially to be in lecture. The content was good, and any level of getting off track was minimal and often related back to the content at hand in some way or another. EC for every homework assignment (+5% = submit 2 days before deadline, 2.5% = one day before, none if on time). 3 MCQ exams, framed as giving you an example of a concept and you have to know what the concept is. It's straightforward if you read the book on top of attending lectures (not mandatory but there's no recordings). Fast speaker so keep up

Dr.Wells/Tullgren is very sweet, and I would always say hi to her outside of class. Her lectures are fairly fast-paced, but she would slow down when asked to. Computers/typing isn't allowed, but iPad and Apple Pencil are allowed.

You HAVE to go to lecture. Her lectures use up every minute in content and if you pay attention and take good notes you'll be fine. Her exams are good if you study/understand her content but all 3 are only worth 40% with the other 60% being HW so your grade should be fine. Everyone is very dramatic about how bad Erika Wells is. You have to attend lecture because there is not much content on the slides and you have to pay attention. You never know what is going to be on the test really but it is ALL multiple choice, 3 exams, no final. You can get extra credit (5%) on every single homework if you turn them in on time.

Professor Wells is a great professor and PS261 is honestly not a difficult class. You need to go to lecture to do well, but the midterms and final are all MCQ and are not very difficult AND you can get extra credit for every homework. Highly recommend!

I do not know why she has such low reviews. Her lectures were fine, definitely interesting. The content is not that hard, and yes its social psych, some terms are a little unclear and sound like others, thats just the field. Ask her about the things you don't understand, she's great at answering questions. If things sound contradictory ASK DEEPER

Dr. Tullgreen is the absolute best professor I ever had at Boston University. She made me so interested in Psychology (both in 101 and 241) that made me switch majors for it. Don't believe every review you read. Yes, she can look a little nuts at first, but her lectures honestly made my day and kept me thinking about the subject.

I took both PS101 and PS261 with Dr. Tullgren and found her to be incredibly caring and knowledgable. Her exams can be difficult, but if you do poorly, her grading structure has enough cushioning to still get an A in the class. To succeed, all you have to do is attend lecture, take good notes, do homework early, and review the textbook as you go.

Attendance only mandatory for discussions. If you go to the lectures you'll be fine on the tests. She posts the slides but they aren't helpful unless you listen to her go over them. Little information on the slides but not super hard topics to grasp especially if you've taken general psych and done well.

She is the most gentle teacher I have ever seen. She has strong academic ability with one doctorate and three master's degrees. As long as the homework is handed in 72h earlier, you will get 105/100. The exam is all multiple-choice and completely based on lecture and powerpoint. Quizzes can be repeated indefinitely until the full score.

Lecture is very logical, every bullet point make sense. The examples and case studies discussed in lectures are very interesting and impressive.

I will say, the slides are lacking, but in my opinion she is a very good lecturer and was relatively easy to follow. Attendance isn't mandatory but somewhat necessary. If you attend lectures and take good notes, the course is very interesting and exams are very fair. Dr. Tullgren's slides are minimal so it is important to pay close attention to what she is saying. However, she is passionate about psychology and a very good professor.

Tullgren is passionate about psych, uses real world examples to relate to the concepts she teaches. Class should be fairly easy if you go to all the lectures and take good notes. She may talk fast sometimes but encourages students to ask questions. You will get a good grade if you study outside of class, do all the HW early, and go to discussion!!

Her grading weights are very average, so it's almost impossible to get a score below B. The exams are hard but only 35% of total grade

I learned a ton of things that were applicable to my own life from the class. Proff. T uses a lot of real life examples so you are more likely to learn with your body over your brain.

I don't comment too much on her attitude towards students, because her attitude is super random, sometimes good and bad. But her lecture is really interesting and fun. Generally speaking, I think it's not bad.

I despise all this hate on my girl because she is AMAZING. All of you guys are sensitive because she is so engaging and nice to her students. I have so much respect for her and I learned so much. I wish she was my mother. Just get ready to take notes. All tests are multiple choice and are barely weighted. she really listens to her student's needs.

Reading some of these reviews before taking PS101 really psyched me out. But it's clear that Prof T really cares deeply about psychology and it is evident in the way she lectures. Her tests are definitely difficult and focus on your ability apply what you learned . There are syllabus pop quizzes.

Very good prof but lectures are MANDATORY. You have to take very good notes but if you show up to class you'll be fine. Tests are MCQ. Discussion & HW add a lot to your grade so make sure to do them. Overall I did learn a lot from this course and enjoyed it a lot.

She is an incredible lecturer and spends a lot of time trying to make sure the students understand her.

Dr. Wells (now Tullgren)'s PS261 is a pretty interesting class, and Tullgren herself has a pretty caring personality. Her grading criteria is clear, exams are pretty easy. But, her syllabus is pretty cutthroat (no dropped online quizzes/hw so it sucks if you miss one). Lectures arent mandatory but she doesnt record lecture or give lecture notes.
