She'll tell you immediatly that her and her flying monkeys are smarter then you

excellent teacher
EXCELLENT professor with a STRONG background from Berkeley. PASSIONATE about anthro. You'll love it and learn a lot!
Friendly professor, super lecturer. Just don't walk in front of her during lecture!
vary hot teacher, knows what shes talking about, and yet easy if u know what she is talking about and has weird peevs
nice teacher! willing to help anyone. she's easygoing. don't walk in front of her when you come in late. just study a bit and read and you'll get a good grade.
I loved her class. It was fun and easy. If you had a hard time in her class it's probably because her flying monkeys are really smarter than you.
livable, just don't tick her off...
she's cool
Do you like hot teachers that are really smart, inspirational and has a fetish with bones. Has funnier stories then SEINFELD! In the case that you do get bored in her class, you can just sit back, just check her out and pretend to be paying attention.....
Excellent teacher.Great knowlegde.Made me like science.Don't come late and do not walk in front of her during lecture.Take good notes and pay attention in class. Very helpful. You will not get bored. Higly recommended.
You learn in class and shes really helpful.Keep up and its all good.
She does love her profesion, relatively easy class, read the book and pay attention. For those of you who are not interested in this subject avoid the morning class, you'll fall asleep. And by the way, she's not that hot, average yes.
Very cool teacher. Knows what she is talking about and if she starts to think the lecture is boring, she will straighten that out with some of her stories about her or her lug boyfriend BIG ED
This was my favorite class out of this whole semester. I highly recommend her. She's really sweet and she is very helpful. Very funny too. Study the material, the subject is a little hard.
Great professor very smart make sure you listen and do homework or you will fail
Do your hw ...read the book and come to class and youll get an A. Not to hard...we'll heheh sometimes in class...
prof browder is incredibly funny. do the homework, its easy. loved this class!
The best teacher I have taken at Southwestern... she knows the subject and makes it easy to understand... I abslolutley loved her class... if you need to take anthro you must take her!
She makes everything she's teaching interesting and has funny stories to keep you from boredom. Very funny and cute.
Awesome teacher, very smart, made me want to learn science, best teacher I've ever had, wish they could all be as good as her!
Very smart. I loved the class and I love science! I would recommend her. Cool Classsss!!!
Great teacher! Very knowldegable of her subject, well organized, fun and daring!
This teacher is inspirational and does a damn well good job. She inspired me to continue my undergraduate studies in Anthropolgy at UC Berkeley, which is her alma mater, and thats what I am doing now! GREAT TEACHER! I recommend her to everyone!
she is awesome! she is the reason i went into Anthropology. if you can take her you are better off than not taking her.
Great Teacher!!! Can be a hard class, but she does her best to keep it interesting! Just study and take notes and you can pass that class.
Interesting Teacher with interesting side stories. Lectures are VERY clear and easy to understand. However Tests are a bit tricky. Must be able to take notes.
Very nice looking teacher for age. She teaches the materials very well, and she is straight forward. No surprises in her class, and if you read a little, and do the homework, which isn't a lot, you will get no less than a B.
Good Teacher. Pretty Hot.
If you really want to transfer to a 4 year college, take her. She makes you read and do homework, but the 4 year experience is great. You cant get bored because shes not bad to look at. The class is not that hard.
the class is hard but the teacheris pretty hot so its worth it!
This class is challenging but if you are truly interested in the subject then you will get an A. She gives xtra credit, Make sure to take notes and read for the tests. Shes a good teacher and is very knowlegeable in her subject. Overall GOOD CLASS..
Hard class but very good teacher. She knows her stuff and and can teach it well. Read the book, do your best on the homework and do the extra credit. It'll help. Great class overall.
She is okay. You MUST READ the book to pass her class. Don't worry I found the bood to be quite interesting. Her extra credit is impossible to to so just do the HW. and do good on ther test. Try to get as much points as possible in her class.
she was a hard grader and didnt curve any tests. lots of homework to boost your score but grades hard on that too. only good thing is her stories about how big al goes to strip clubs and falls ****. those stories are awesome. other than that tests are hard and stuff is boring. hardly any videos
Great teacher who is dedicated to the subject and students if you need help ask her for it. Keep up with the reading or cram the night before the test (allnighter).
Dr. Browder is a very good teacher because she has a clear objective for the class which is to learn Anthropology. Her lectures are always interesting and sometimes adds a little humor which makes it even better plus she is attractive.
Great teacher, she's so funny with the story she tells. Makes the classes very interesting. I totally recommend her.
Really good teacher... she made the class really fun an interesting.. Her test are pretty straight forward pay attention in class and you will be fine. Really friendly person... She has a great way of teaching. I would totally recommend her.. Dr. Browder rocks!!!
I took this one in the summer. It was full of reading, thinking, and memorizing; she gives lots of tips. Tests are easy if you bother to read. Teacher is funny, nice, and very educated. This class will open your eyes and will teach you plenty of interesting and helpful vocabulary and concepts. The key for this course: manage your time wisely.
Grattecher, fun class, and very interesting. Highly recomended!

took class 4-5 years back. excellent source of knowledge. very articulate in relaying the course info. very passionate in the subject knowledge and appears to love teaching it. would recommend nobody else in this subject. you must apply yourself to succeed in this class, but well worth the effort 100 times fold.
Dr. Browder really knows her stuff. The class does require a fair bit of reading, but she keeps the material interesting. Plus, she's actually gone and done real field excavations, so her Indiana Jones credentials are without question.
Very interesting but very challenging class on Archaeology and Pre-History. She's an excellent teacher, tells you exactly what she wants you to learn, reviews answers right before exam but if you don't like writing essay stay way since essays are a huge part of her exam as well as multiple choice questions!
This is one of the most interesting courses I have ever taken. The class is fun and well organized. You need to keep up on the reading, but she is very good at keeping you informed about what you need to know. You have to do some writing, but I wouldn't say its a large part of your final grade. This is my favorite class this semester.
Dr. Browder is an excellent instructor!!! I had her calss a few years ago and it was one of the best, most intersting classes I've ever taken. She's funny and smart and makes it all seem interesting. Do yourself a favor and take her class if you have a chance. Great stories.
Dr. Browder is a great teacher. The material was more interesting than I thought it was going to be. She is very straight forward about what she wants you to learn. The tests are challenging, but a breeze if you study. She tells you exactly what will be on the test. She is madd cool and a good instructer. I'd advise taking the class.
Oh my gosh! You HAVE to take this professor! The class is SO interesting and the teacher's super cool. She's funny and her jokes make you remember about the topics discussed. It sounds weird having such a blast in that class, but you'll actually learn a ton of stuff and have great laughs as well. HIGHLY recommend her!
Dr.Browder is one of the best professors I have had. She demonstrates mastery of the topics she discusses and is very helpful. She also posseses a wonderful sense of humor that is guaranteed to make you laugh. With dedication, committment, and a professor like this you are more than likely to succeed.
awsome
Hands down, best teacher on campus. She is very enthusiastic, passionate, prepared, helpful and fun. Have taken Anth101 & 103 with Dr. Browder, and wish she taught more classes!! Excellent professor, she is the kind of person and has a style of teaching that stays with you long after the semester ends.
She is a great teacher, I wasn't interest in the subject but she make the class fun and interest. She knows the subject and she loves teaching. She tries to help you has much as she can. She is one of the best teacher at SWC. Thanks Dr. Browder.
Dr. Browder is an awesome professor. She is hilarious and knows the subject she is teaching. I'm glad I took her class. I learned a lot about the subject and not only that, but keeping up good study habits.
I love her. She's so nice and such a fabulous teacher. You can see that she has a passion for the subject.
SHE REALLY LIKES HER SUBJECT, SHE CAN BE TOUGH. SHE IS GREAT.
I feel kinda weird rating her "hot" but she is really pretty...anyhoo. She taughta great class. She's the reason I'm an Anthro major!
Good teacher
I love her class and I just took ANTH for a science requirement. You have to me into it to pass. by that i mean that you do the readings or atleast write down everything she says in the lecture. ALL THAT SHE SAYS WILL COME OUT IN THE TEST!! I highly recommend her. She's great
She is fantastic and makes me wish I could take more classes on Anthropology. She knows what she's talking about and her class isn't hard at all as long as you follow her advice.
She is a cool and really nice teacher. Not strict on attendance...AT ALL. She just lectures and has you read the text. No assignments. Just tests and a few quizzes that she tells you about ahead of time. She gives you all handouts online on Blackboard. She used to live in National City and be a bartender who hung out with bikers. <3 her.
I highly recommend Dr. Browder. I took all but one of the Anthropology classes I needed with her and got A's in most of them. she is very helpful and lots of fun. Her classes are easy, depending on the effort you put forth, but she makes Anthropology fun and intresting! definatly my fav prof. :)Wish I could take her classes over again.
amazing. she knows so much about anthropology and you can tell she loves it. shes got this great 'i know you wont get this the first time around so listen to me' attitude. and shes right. i only needed one science class but i'm going to take a couple more of her classes just cuz!
One of the best college instructors I've ever had. Read the material and you'll do well. She's the reason I'm an Anthro major.
great techer. save your quizes becaese those questions come on the test for sure
I took this class online over the summer. Not an easy A, but if you make sure to read ALL the material and do the Blackboard assignments an A should be obtainable. Do your posts early and reply to more than just the min...those extra points go a long way. Oh if needed, she offers extra credit paper that can bump your grade almost a whole letter.
Tried taking this prof online. Not an easy class (if want B or A)! 25 mins for a 30 question exam. You have to submit your hw by a deadline, but if you submit the same day as the deadline, you can't receive the "maximum score" (???). Questions from exam are in depth, must know the readings WORD FOR WORD. Don't take online, Can't speak for in class.
Best teacher ever, she expects us to do the best, and she is very helpful, this is my favorite class this semester. I wish all teachers were as good as she is .
I'm currently taking Ms. Browder's class at Southwestern College. She's a teacher who knows her stuff very well. You'll find the class to be boring if Anthropology isn't your favorite subject, which it isn't for me.
The BEST Teacher that I have had in all of my years in college. I am currently at SDSU and none of the teachers compare to her. She really knows her stuff and makes learning interesting and fun. I took all the classes that she offered at SWC and every class was interesting. Southwestern College is lucky to have Dr. Browder as a Professor.
Dr. browder is one of the best teachers i've ever had. she is hard, but you learn alot.
One of the best professors I had at Southwestern for Anthropology 101 -- really made the course interesting and she is super cool.
I've taken every single Anthro class I could possibly take with Dr. Browder. She is, hands down, the best professor at SWC! Hell, the best professor in the state and the best I've ever had. She's intelligent, very knowledgeable on all Anthro topics, funny, and passionate. Read the book and take good lecture notes because the tests aren't easy. A+++
It's all true! Had her years ago. Great teacher.
She is a NICE PERSON but not a GOOD PROFESSOR!She EXPECTS you to know everything & A's her test by jus reading the book. I studied my butt off half way through the semester and I was still failing ALL the tests! Her test scores are BASICALLY ur grade. She gives no hw or class wrk to help out ur grade. U wont pass her class if u don't pass her tests
If your are not a good test taker then don't take her or you will fail. You better be a smart@$$ to pull out ATLEAST a C-/B+ to even pass her tests if you are one of those students who knw it all. Yes, her stories are entertaining but when it comes to your grade trust me you WONT CARE! She doesn't give alot of work for credit only exams =/ goodluck
she is great!!!!!!!!!!! I love bio anthro now! the classes are just so clear she knows about everything and she is real fun! take her she will make this class interesting! and do the hw of course =)
Difficult class when taken on-line for 7 weeks (a half semester). Lots of reading, some writing. There should be three things with an on-line class which weren't given with this class: 1.) ease to other student's contact info, 2.) lots of feedback from the instructor, and 3.) access to range, median, and average to compare where you are in class.
If you want to FAIL then go right ahead and take her class. You can study for hours and still not pass the class. Her tests are VERY difficult, especially because she does not prepare you well. She just expects you to know everything after the readings. She warned the class there'd be few A's some B's and mostly c's, d's and f's. SHE WAS RIGHT!
she is the best teacher ever!!! she really knows everything about anthropology, if you say she is hard is because you're not willing to do the hw... read the book and the tests will be a piece of cake..
ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT DR. BROWDER ARE ERRONEOUS! On all accounts! She is the most knowledgable professor on campus, which is why she is the department dean! Yes, her class is not the easiest, but this is college, and not putting in any effort just wont cut it! She's very helpful anyways so do the work, study, read, and you'll love her class!
Got an A! She is the best teacher I've ever had. I actually changed my major to Anthropology because of this class! She is so smart, funny/sarcastic, and teaches the class making sure you to understand her. Love love love her!
My cup o' tea.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! her class was amazing i enjoyed it so much! i also learned a lot , you have to have the book & study for the exams from the book/powerpoint/notes! but overall its a wonderful class!
I wasn't expecting the difficulty. This is NOT a class to slack off in.However, Professor Browder is very passionate in her subject and an excellent instructor. I was just caught off guard. If you have any interest in the subject, you can't go wrong with her. She watches Doctor Who! Just expect a lot of reading and note taking.
Very professional. I first thought she was cocky and full of herself. But she is really down to earth and straight forward. Good teacher, definitely knows what she's talking about. Fair grading, study the worksheets and chapters and you'll pass the class. btw, i personally LOVE the way she dresses, she has a little goth side to her, very cool.
This teacher is the most intelligent human I have ever been taught by. She know's everything and you will be 100% smarter in life by taking this class. Don't judge it and think crazy of evolution. It's about LIFE our History as a human, FACTS, and pure knowledge to improve your life. Take this class by this teacher and you will thank me for it!
Best teacher I've ever had at Southwestern College by far. Makes her lectures super interesting, class is not easy obviously because its a college level science course but she makes the class enjoyable! (:
Take this class. It's was easy, just do what you have to do.
UC Quality education and professor. She's acting department head for the social sciences deservedly. Very responsive and helpful with questions, a great intellectual resource backed up by lot's of experience. Moreover, very clear on all counts and most importantly, fair. Take the online versions if rote memorization isn't your strong suit.
I took the online course, it is hard and lots of information, if you are good managing your time take it otherwise you will fail. Dr. Browder provides very useful information and cares for her students, don't expect the test being easy.
She is the most down to earth teacher!! I love her? if your struggling she'll give you extra credit and help you pass the class!!:) i would definitely recommend her!
Good class if you're interested in learning about evolution. Always STUDY and you'll do ok.
Professor Browder was definitely my fav instructor during the spring semester! Her tests are pretty easy as long as you read the book, and come to class EVERYDAY! She's also very stylish, which is a nice a surprise. I recommend taking her class for bio anthro!
Professor Browder is a good teacher, but to be honest she is not the best. Her class is not that hard if you study, but this class isn't for everyone. You actually have to be interested in the topic you're learning and the class to do very well in her class.
Really nice. Very interesting subject. Knows her stuff. JUST READ THE BOOK and you'll be good
One of the most articulate and organized professors I have ever had. I took her 7 week archaeology class (not on line). Usually short courses get behind and crazy at the end, but not with her!
She's a great teacher. She knows ALLOT about biology and has a good sense of humor. It is tough though, so slackers you've been warned.
Although she's a nice lady and the material of the class is interesting, this class is HARD! Beware of her tests, they will give you nightmares! All her lectures are power points, so you can expect to fall asleep during class. Many people have taken her before so they tend to worship her, but she's no wonder woman!
This class is HARD! No joke, it requires INTENSE studying and A LOT of review. I used to have dreams about this class that is how much I thought of it. If you are a semi slacker like me, I recommend you take a different professor.
Professor Browder is really the best! The class is hard, you have to put a lot of effort in it. Read the sections she tells you, take notes in class and see whatever she posts on blackboard. Although it's challenging, it is a really interesting class!I recommend everyone to take her classes and visit her in office hours if you need any help!
Dr. Browder is awesome! She's very knowledgeable and kind. Took the full semester bio class. There are about 6 quizzes and 5 exams. Two hard-to-do extra credit papers. This is probably the most interesting class I've ever taken, and probably one of the hardest too! You can only pass this class if you READ and STUDY. Do not procrastinate!
Warning! Archaeology is harder than it looks like. This course has been super challenging and difficult! If you think you'll be like Indiana Jones having fun around, you're SO WRONG! There are tons of reading, about 5 quizzes, and Exams (scantron and in-class essays) Overall, she is very intelligent, and makes class interesting. B-
I heard she was awesome so I took the online class. She is SO unbelievably unorganized. My class is about to end and I received two emails from her with different due dates. The due dates in the email are different than the syllabus, and I missed the last assignment. SO UNORGANIZED. The class is already difficult and she doesn't help make it easier
You need to study!!!! She is hard if you don't read. Take lots of notes
This should be an introductory course, she should be more lenient and understanding of her students not criticize and put them down. Worst experience I've ever had with a teacher.
If you are good at taking notes and staying awake during lectures this class is not hard. The reading is mandatory, but not over-long, and grades are entirely based on quizzes and exams. Extra credit is offered, but is not easy. Prof. Browder is very knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions regarding the material. A
THE greatest professor I have ever had! Well organized, willing to help you understand the material, and is extremely knowledgeable about the subject as well as other subjects. She also has a fantastic sense of humor that makes you look forward to class. Take notes, study and you'll do great!
Great teacher loves teaching and loves answering questions. Easy class as long as you stay ahead.
Professor Browder is great if you don't fall behind. She is helpful and wants you to pass. Homework and tests are easy if you study and read the book.
Dr. Browder knows A LOT of her stuff. and because she knows a lot, she will give you A LOT of information for you to study. not the most organized teacher; she uses blackboard and she uploads a lot of content almost daily: study guides, maps, videos, etc. for you to take into consideration for the tests. exams have an essay part. not an easy class!
I consider Dr Browder to be the best professor I've had. Her classes are filled with lots of fun facts so it helps if you are into Anthropology. The work isn't too hard either, you get a study guide before the tests! It was an amazing experience so I took Archaeology with her too! Wish there were more Anthro classes offered.
101 is difficult: take online. Lovely person, specialized in MesoAm, so take her 113 class with Van Stone's MesoArt course, it'll help. You'll need to write strongly on the essays, so prepare well, and those are easy points. Slide lectures alone could get you a C if you did no reading and took good notes. High quality at CC level, good value for $
This class is AWESOME. Dr.Browder is very clear in what she wants and extremely organized. Make sure you print out what she posts on Blackboard & STUDY ! This is def. not your average community college course so its not a "piece of cake" but alternatively because she is an excellent instructor LEARNING the material is easy.
She's a pretty cool person but I would hardly say she's a teacher because she hardly teaches. It's mainly based on the book. I learn by taking notes and listening but this teacher is all over the place. So if you're fine with teaching yourself and reading, then by all means, take this course. If not, just take it online to save yourself time.
I had been a straight-A student since middle school, and I got my first C in this class. Nice teacher, but definitely not as organized as I'm used to. Unless you're really good at memorizing dates and details, be prepared to study a lot! Tests are based on the book and things she posts online.
Professor Browder is not an 'easy A' teacher. you will have to work very hard in this class, however, it is not impossible to get an A. I took this class over summer and kept up with the reading and payed attention to her lectures--as any student should do. knowing your 'learning style' right away will help tremendously when studying for exams.
Professor Browder is a charismatic individual who is passionate about her subject and well educated in her field of study. Don't let her kindness fool you. She is cunningly condescending, disorganized and her exams are ridiculous. You will have to teach yourself for the most part. I would definitely not take any other class with her.
This is a tough class. Reading the textbook is required to pass the tests. Only take this class if you are willingly to put in the work. Professor Browder is passionate about what she's teaching. You will need to put in the work to get a good grade. Hardest class I've taken, tons of reading.
She is very inspirational and it is obvious she loves the subject. She is easy to talk to and helps you when you ask. Although her tests were a bit difficult, if you read the book, take good notes, and pay attention during her lectures, you'll definitely pass.
First day of school I thought anthropology 101 meant 101 but she begins to tell you that is a university course. She would prefer you call her Dr. because of her degree. This is not an easy class. Keys to passing her class study the chapters and you tube is your friend. She constantly says If you don't understand the words look it up on google.
Dr. Browder is an awesome professor! To pass this class, you HAVE to read the book! In her classes, she has powerpoints which you take notes from but that won't help you pass any tests. Dr. Browder is there if you have any questions and she gives a couple of extra credit essays but they're very challenging.
There is a MASSIVE disconnect between her presentation and the textbook, the info you need to know for the test is somewhere in between. I'm a bit of a word smith myself but here terminology and manner of speaking is not meant for a community college. She'll talk to the class like your all seasoned anthropologists and confuse you into a poor grade
She's passionate about the field and she's a lovely person, but she warns you the first day that the course is hard. Pay attention in lecture and take good notes. Do the assigned reading! Ask questions if needed. Do not cram the night before. Test questions are straight out of the book or lecture, they are multiple choice, and they are not long.
I loved this class! Professor is very sarcastic and her style of teaching isn't for everyone. however, I really enjoyed her class because I learned so much about civilizations and prehistory. The exams in the class are tough if you don't read or do the homework assignments. The best way to study is by studying from her PowerPoint notes and read.
Difficult class! You have to give it 110%, there is almost no room for error. The professor is very strict, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but she takes it to the next extreme. There is so much reading involved, that you have to spend at least 2 hours reading each day. For those who like to do everything last minute, DON'T TAKE THE CLASS!!!
Awesome professor, she really knows her stuff. There's a lot of reading--you have to, HAVE to read the textbook in order to pass her quizzes and exams. She's the type of professor who will drive you into taking better notes and prepare you for university courses I'd say. If you really want to learn anthropology, I would recommend taking her class.
Class was difficult at 1st but that's when you realize that you can't just come to class with little to no studying outside of lecture. I was about to drop the class and glad I didn't. But this class gets easier as you begin to acclimate to the pace. To make it short 1st few exams might be rough but it's a class you will learn to earn an A or B.
HARD. She is a good teacher, but that does not make the class easy you need to stay in top of everything and the exams are hard.
This course is very complex in nature. The lectures went into heavy detail but the professor goes on and on and on. Sometimes she will change the slides quick so you wont have time to write everything down. YOU HAVE TO DO THE READING TO PASS.
Dr. Browder is simply one of the most intelligent professors I have met. In my perspective, I do think her lectures should be for students in four-years universities since her coursework is definitely tough. Be sure to do your reading before class or expect to be lost throughout the semester. Brilliant professor but not for everybody.
She lectures when class starts until it ends to the tee, no breaks in between. You better have money on your ID, because you have to print out everything from blackboard. She will print out the tests though. Don't be even a few minutes late, because you can't go to your seat until she lets you. If you need this class try another professor.
I had taken this course in the past and I have noticed a answer that was correct was marked incorrect on the scantron sheet. I notified the instructor and she changed the score. I can't imagine that my scantron would do this. Either the scantron went wrong or she changed the answer. I feel I could have done better if this issue was solved sooner.
My reviews are being removed. BEWARE of this professor! She told me I wouldn't need accommodations, gave us VERY little time on tests, most of the class was gone after test II and no matter how hard I studied, I failed. I have a 3.3 GPA. She thinks D's and F's are "good." I'm retaking this class next semester w/ a different prof. Run.
Read the review posted 10/27 of her, I feel that it must have been a scantron issue. I had taken her anth101 course and found Professor Browder offers extra credit. Great way to boost your grade up. The course if fun and you will learn a lot. She also demonstrates tools our ancestors used. She also allows students to hold and view them.
As a psychology major, Im absolutely glad that I took this class with Dr. Browder. It was fascinating to learn about fossils and the origins of our species. Its important to read the textbook ahead of time/take good notes. Shes amazing at what she does and is definitely going on my list of favorite/ inspirational professors at SWC.
Absolutely love her! As an Anth major, it is refreshing to have a professor who is perfect for how my mind works. Plenty of Extra Credit if needed. You have to read out of class though, but the engaging lectures well make up for it. On my second course of hers now and it is simply brilliant.
If you dont have the time to do all the heavy reading then this class is not for you. Teacher is funny and lectures are pretty interesting. but if you are not willing to put a lot of effort just take a different class.
I believe that Dr. Browder has all the qualities of an excellent professor. She really knows how to keep her students engaged. Great sense of humor and has interesting stories to tell. The course can be difficult , but it's always nice to have a professor that challenges you.
Talks the entire class, Lectures don't match the textbook. She goes from one powerpoint to another and goes off topic which in most cases you have to finish the lecture through online powerpoint at home. Tests are hard and reading the entire chapter won't guarantee a good grade. No in class test review or study guides. says"read the entire chapter"
Your grade is based entirely off of exams, almost every answer can be found by learning the definition of the bolded out words in the textbook, and a few come from her meandering, almost insane lectures. This is the most fun you'll have at Southwestern, you'll learn a lot but most of it won't have anything to do with Anthropology. Take this class
I loved having Dr. Browder for my Anthropology class! She does very interesting lectures and as long as you study the notes and really read the textbook, the exams are passable. I struggled on the exams, but she is accessible if you need help! She offers variety of extra credit and is very sweet overall! I really enjoyed her class a lot :)
Lectures a lot of information but keeps it informative and entertaining. Very knowledgeable on the subject and clearly enjoys teaching. Grade based on online quizzes and in-class exams, offers a good amount of extra credit. Need to read the textbook and online materials because of how much is covered.
Professor Browder is very fair and practical. She understands that you are most likely not trying to earn a degree in Anthropology so she teaches in a way that makes the topic engaging without being too overwhelming. Make sure to do your reading and quizzes. There are writing assignments too. And P.S., she is super stylish and my new fashion idol.
I loved taking this class with her. You learn a lot. IT IS A LOT OF WORK for a GE class. The readings are long and the exams are hard. She does offer extra credit that can help a lot. If you can handle the readings and do well on the mini essays, you will be fine.
Has a major problem with control. She goes off topic ALL the time, she constantly putts in her personal opinions and treats her COLLEGE students like Preschoolers. I would not recommend taking her, she honestly should not be a teacher.
Summer session was very fast paced but as long as you do the readings on canvas and textbook, do the online quizzes, and pay attention in class, it is manageable. She gives multiple extra credit opportunities
Shes a great teacher overall and I would recommend. She loves when you ask questions so if you have one, she will be happy to answer.
Professor Brower is a nice person, however, she continuously goes off topic during class. She does know a lot about the subject but she expects students to learn everything at home. All lectures were about her personal life and material is kind of confusing.
Very sweet lady, but sweet isnt going to help me understand the class. She literally goes off topic every session and nothing in her notes rarely pertains to the actual test and quizzes. Get ready to read pages and pages with no clear study guide or directions to go off of. I dont recommend her class if you are taking math, economics etc.
Doesn't go over entire material & what she goes over in class is not on tests. We switched to online due to covid & for tests, she didn't give us enough time & we couldn't go back and change/check our answers. Wastes most of class time going on personal tangents. Very controlling, in class & online. Course should be easy, teacher makes it hard.
Exams/quizzes are never timed fairly. Her lectures are a small fraction of what we're tested on, there are no study guides/real structure to what we have to do on our own besides read the textbook. She has you wait by the door if you're 3 secs. late to class until she says you can sit down which is more distracting than what she was trying to avoid
This woman is lazy and doesnt teach anything. She will literally give you 40 minutes for 50 questions and expect you to pass based on how she processes information. I dont recommend ! she gets off topic way too much and I dont have the time to read 100 +pages every week when I have 3 other classes. Please if you see her name avoid her class!!!
When we converted to online, she went above and beyond to make sure we felt supported.
I really enjoyed taking this class. Professor Browder is obviously knowledgable and put a lot of effort into her lectures. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit and this helps because the quizzes & tests are a bit heavy on the grade.
The best teacher! Super nice! Youll learn so much from her. When we had to switch online she made things better for us. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Plenty of time to do homework. Dont believe the negative reviews. Shes a great teacher . Shes awesome. She will always help you if you need help. Highly recommend:)
Had her for Spring '20. Genuinely great teacher with immense knowledge on anthropology. Cares for her students & feels personal. The tests were kind of confusing, but they were mostly easy if you read & took notes. Absolutely hilarious as well. She does side track sometimes. Please take her class, even if you aren't an anthropology major (like me)!
She's knowledgeable alright but If you've got 3 other important classes then I suggest not taking her because you are GONNA have to prioritize this class.
Dr. B is someone that loves what she does and it shows. She's understanding, kind, and lenient. Remote learning requires you to always log into zoom for the lectures, and pretty much all test content comes from lectures so TAKE NOTES and don't get distracted. STUDY for tests and quizzes-most test questions are seen in the previous quiz. Recommend!
Dr. Browder is knowledgeable, funny, kind, and very specific about what she expects from you. Yes, this is a TOUGH class and you will have to earn your grade. Keep in mind - she does not assign you anything you will not need in the future. it is ALL helpful. Try to manage your time wisely because this class will eat up a lot of study time.
She is a good professor, and the class is somewhat easy. It is a total points class which means that it does not work with percentages, you just keep adding the points that you earn; like add your earned points from hw, quizzes, and tests and do an out of whatever the number of points it is the class and then that is your grade.
Beware of overreading, but take good notes! Dr. Browder-Estrada provides pdf copies of all required readings and offers a bunch of extra credit. She drops hints during lectures and your grade is entirely exam/quiz based. Lectures are long, but rich. If you want a course that will prepare you for university, Dr. Browder-Estrada is the way to go!
Prof. Browder did pretty good in the areas I look for. She was responsive to messages. Grading and rubric were straight up. She was always nice. She doesn't go on tangents. Took antro101 online. Very heavy on vocab and DNA and species names. Got a decent grade would have done better if I had more time to study.
Do all the extra credit, watch all the videos online, and pay attention during lectures and you'll basically get a good grade. After class/during office hours, ask her what to really focus on and it'll save you time during the readings because you'll know what to focus on/what she's going to test about.
Great professor with upbeat personality. Free online textbook as a plus. Her tests are simply MCs, no written response. She gives extra credit opportunities each unit. Make to sure review and take good notes, and you will do fine in her course.
I took the fast-track class with her and loved it, she's a fun, interesting and kind professor. Her grading system is clear and isn't tough, there is opportunities for extra cred. I'm an anth major so maybe I find this topic more interesting than others, she provided plenty of cool videos related to the topics. I'm taking her again over summer.
her canvas layout is messy w occasional incorrect exam/assignment dates. but u can tell that she cares abt her students and wants u to pass. knowing that most students only take the course for GE, she structures the course accordingly. do the extra cred every unit even if u "don't" need it bc it's a good safety net when ur busy w other courses.
Her tests are hard. She is afraid of students finding answers to her questions online, so she creates her questions super hard and confusing. Her questions to tests are like mindblowing.
The class itself is great, the subjects are super interesting, I would enjoy it more if I could take my time but that's not how schools work. The worst part is the reading, sometimes over 20 dense PDF pages a day, not including videos, articles, and PowerPoints. Overall, she is a great person who is very knowledgeable. I would take her class again
One of my favorite professors that I've had! Very funny and made a subject that i thought would be boring very interesting!
Her class was interesting, I thought it was going to be boring at first, but it was actually quite engaging. You get to study actual bones and fossils and told us in great detail. But it is text heavy, so you are gonna read a lot. Overall, highly recommend.
