amazing prof (summer school)
Great prof and easy on the eyes ;)
One of the best profs I have ever had. If you have her, you are very lucky!
She's adorable when she gets embarrassed because the technology isn't working. :) Her history as a high school teacher shows in her straightforwardness and desire to have students understand what's going on. Made 8:30 classes tolerable.
You are very lucky if you had her as a prof. I hope that she teaches upper year math courses and that would be heaven - just being in her class is already heaven
Clements was an overall good teacher. Sometimes she would go a little too slow, make a few errors, and you could tell she was new to using the smart board. The tests were easy if you studied for them, the exam was okay. You didn't really need to go to class since the notes had everything except solutions to problems.
very helpful and direct with her teaching. explains concepts well and clearly. also very pretty ;)
Overall quite clear in her teaching and made class enjoyable. Tests pretty easy. I just wish she would go a bit faster, one time Lovric substituted for her and it was clear to me he was a much better lecturer overall. However she is young and new so it's not her fault
Her presence made 8:30s worthwhile.
Dont know why everyone finds her easy i found her tests kind of hard. If you do the sample test and get everything, that means nothing also not alot of time to do her tests. I only did 2 tests so far so have to see how it goes. Also she isn't that clear but still better then a few other teachers.
Very detailed in topics. will answer and explain even the easiest question during lecture if you get lost. Has a high school feel which is great transitioning to university classes. Very nice too. Doesn't teach over your head. lots of examples.
excellent instructor, knows her stuff
I am in love with this girl, honestly she is the perfect woman! I'm going to be devastated when the term is over! Goodbye my looooooooooooove!!!!
Great teacher who really knows her stuff and does her best to keep to explain concepts in ways that the students can understand.
Awesome prof! Love her teaching so much. She is not all full of herself expecting students to know everything. VERRRRY helpful and very friendly. It's like she is too good to be true (for university). LOL. I love Math so I loved the course. Do your assignments and textbook Qs if you buy one. I didn't
She is SOOOO great! I love her teaching style and she can make everything clear and easy than any other profs! very friendly!!
Unreal
Understanding, caring, smart, reaches out to students, agree with last comment: unreal.
Nice, midterms were too long, but the exam was easy.
Great prof. She's so young, it seems only fitting to call her Erin. She's very good at explaining topics and engaging the class, yet she has no control. She never told people to keep it down until one girl exploded during class about the noise. Otherwise she'll just thank you for shushing people. Long midterms and easy exam. 90% exam was my saviour
Erin is an absolutely amazing instructor. She doesn't even compare to others I've had. I went to every lecture and found them very helpful. Also reading the textbook helps a lot. She is SO helpful and understanding.. out of this world!
Awesome prof to listen to, makes the course really easy to understand. It also doesn't hurt that she's easily the hottest prof at Mac.
awesome! so sweet too! best prof.
She was awesome! Very clear, very good prof. No tricks on the tests/exam - very fair. I suck at calc but I did fairly well because of her
I absolutely love Erin- she's such an amazing teacher and really cares about her students. Her lectures are great and she does lots of examples. She's also very honest about what is important to study for tests, so that was very helpful!
best prof i had in 1st year, every math prof should be like her
Her class was my absolute favorite last semester. She was very nice and often had a joke or two. While being cheerful and nice, she's also determined to see you do well and does an excellent job at teaching concepts, clarifying misconceptions, and is extremely relatable on a youthful level. She's young and loves her job, love her passion for math!
She was the sweetest! Definitely was a surprise walking into my first lecture and seeing such a young professor teaching math. And don't let her age fool you, because she definitely knows the material. She's so kind and answered questions well. Although sometimes she did move very quickly, if you asked, she would slow down the pace. Wonderful prof!
Definitely the best math prof ever! Super kind and understanding and all her notes are extremely clear...even if you aren't a math person, you can do well
great prof! made me love math
Favourite math course I've ever taken.
best prof at mac, make sure you take her for 1st year calc, the most amazing prof i have ever had, seriously, learned alot, and good marks
She's one of the nicest and prettiest professors at McMaster. I've only been in the class for 3 weeks, and I love her.
Best Prof at Mac, also the best looking, hard 9
i loved erin!! she is so sweet and understanding of the fact that not everyone is a "math person." her lectures move at a good pace and she is very clear. she is willing to accommodate students and genuinely wants to see students succeed
Math 1F03 is a class for those who have not completed grade 12 calculus. I am NOT a math person, but Clements made me enjoy AND do well in math. She's sweet, funny, and always willing to clarify concepts. Her lecture slides are fill-in-the-blank style and crystal clear. If you have to complete the grade 12 equivalent, I highly recommend her.
other than my self esteem because she's so frigggin hot this prof helped me solo much in this course her lectures were very clear and she's such sweetheart. VERY clear about what will be on tests and VERY understanding
She's energetic, and her smiles make class enjoyable. She's super kind and helpful with even the most simple of questions (which sometimes got annoying, since she would make SURE the person who asked understood before moving on). The exam was worth either 40 or 90%, whatever gave you a higher mark. She's also hilarious with tech (pen, anyone?).
I personally don't like her as a professor. She's a really nice person. However, she does not know how to teach. She teaches is a style that is more memorization she never explains her math, and when she does she explains it more this is the way is it method. Piece of advice for future students, Im not the only one that felt this way.
Dr Clements is an excellent teacher! She *does* teach for understanding, she tells you exactly how to think about something rather than just memorize it. Now that I'm taking other math courses, I see how good her lectures were. Some things in math are techniques and rules, but still you need to understand what they are about.
Amazing lectures geared towards learning (and even enjoying) basic calculus! Hated math in high school... love it now - might take more math courses in the future.
What an amazing human being. Despite not getting the best mark, she truly cares about each one of her students and will do whatever it takes to help you get your desired mark.
She's such a great prof. If you take the time to go to her office hours, you can see how much she genuinely cares for her students. She helped me get my mark higher by going over any concepts I did not understand. She is also a great person overall, she was my first ever prof in University and by far my favourite. Thanks for everything Clements !
Great prof, always very clear and able to answer questions. Funny and laid-back. Makes all the content understandable. Tests are tough - make sure you study lots. Definitely reasonable to get a 10+ in the course if you try.
Only professor I've ever had that always knew the answer to every question asked by students.
My advice to you is to attend the lectures and to pay attention during them. You literally will not pass the course if you do not.
She was fantastic. She works at a manageable pace in class and allows one to take great notes to refer back to when studying for tests. 2 midterms were easy, 1 was tough but doable, exam was a bit weird with a lot of application. Overall, she boosted my confidence in my ability to do well in math. Ended up with an A+ in the course.
Awesome teacher, very friendly and approachable. If you ever don't understand or need to work an idea out in your head you can bounce ideas off her. She likes talking with students, and she likes to help out when she can. If you can take a course with her, probably worth it.
Did alot of examples in class , don't skip class ! Make sure to do all the Assignments, Lecture Examples because they will be very similar to the questions given on the Midterms and Final Exam. Great Prof !
Dr. Clements is a great prof who is very approachable. Her lectures were never boring (even though its math), and she explains concepts very well.
Dr Clements is a very good professor. She knows a lot about mathematics and makes things easy to understand, especially for first year students who might be nervous about moving up to university level. She is very kind in her grading, giving multiple grading scheme options to get the best mark possible. Her lectures are lively and fun.
Erin Clements is great. She really knows her stuff and can make even the most boring aspects of math fun, especially for scared first year students. Her grading is very fair and she will do everything she can to ensure you get a great mark. 1F03 is a lot easier than 1LS3, but having her as a prof for both made the transition very easy.
She seemed like a nice person, but I did not find her to be a great prof. She was good because she tried to make students do well. I did not like the weekly assignments because they were very hard to keep up with doing 3-4 each week, and I found the exam/assignment questions to be 9000x harder than lecture content
Great course and apt professor... very knowledgeable and loves to pull some jokes too " when preparing for tests, know your limits and study in definite intervals" ... would definitely love to take future courses with her ! TIP: do your assignments and old practice tests ! they truly help and if you abandon doing them altogether- then good luck..
Erin is an extremely sweet and friendly prof, and super accessible outside class. I would end up having wholesome conversations about life and university in general in her office hours. She really cares about her students and inspired me to go for a minor in Math. Her grading criteria is very fair and clear. 3 tests (worst one dropped) and 1 final.
Soooo Goooooddd
Her lectures are amazing. She is very friendly and I really enjoy being in her class. She prepares you for the midterms and tries her best to answer all the questions in tutorials. 10/10 would take again (actually, I am taking a course with her again!!!)
She was an incredible professor! Every single one of her lectures were clear and easy to follow. She also goes slow in order to ensure that everyone can keep up. Finally she's incredibly caring and always willing to answer questions and clarify concepts. Would definitely recommend!
Great lecturer. The only class I really looked forward to. Course itself was also pretty easy. If you ever have a question you can easily just ask her and she'll clarify everything.
Dr. Clements is one of the best profs Ive ever had. Shes very nice and approachable. She makes her class super fun and I enjoyed every second of it. Math 1LS3 is an easy A if you attend the lectures and do the assignments.
Queen Clements!! Best professor I've had by far!! Lovable, so caring, relatable and wonderful prof. I just to go to her office hours and just talk about life with her and she's such a genuine person. Class was pretty interesting and she made morning lectures worth attending. I wish all my profs were like her!! All hail Clements!!
She takes questions right from previous tests, and class examples, just with altered wording. The exam was super fair. I'd say this course is an easy 12, and even easier than 1LS3.
The best professor I had in first-year! She explains concepts well, it is up to you to apply them and follow the homework timetable. She is cute, funny, and has a way of engaging with her class. Definitely attend her lectures and tutorials! The exam/midterms were fair but Lovric made them and an A is definitely achievable if you put in effort.
Clements is one of my favourite professors. I took 1LS3 with her and decided to take 1LT3 just because she makes the classes really interesting. Even though calculus is not my strong suit, she teaches it so well. She always tells funny stories too and you can tell that she really cares about her students.
Good at explaining, takes test questions directly from the assignments
Dr Clements is such a sweet prof. I really liked her lectures, even though, sometimes it gets boring. For this course, I recommend doing all the assignments, because the midterms and exam is usually of the same difficulty level. She is very clear, and easy to understand. Def recommended.
Erin was the most amazing math professor I could've ever asked for, there isn't much else to say, everything about the way she approached the course was incredible.
Super nice & great prof. I would say lectures are mandatory because of how well she explains the material, & since she does not post the notes online. Print her slides, she teaches fast. Assignments & previous year tests are identical to the midterms & final. Exams are straight forward, she tries to make sure you get the best grade possible.
Clements is a gem of a professor. As someone who is really not that great at math, I managed a pretty good mark by doing really well on one out of the 3 tests and making very dumb mistakes on the other two. I also studied for the exam for 2 days and did okay. Her lectures are great and she explains things really well. 10/10 would recommend.
Clements is the besttt!!! She really cares about how students are doing in her course and she is honestly such a mom! Definitely the best of the 1LS3 profs. She will answer questions in class and make sure everyone understands before moving on. If you have the chance, take her course!
Such a sweetheart! If you go to her office hours she really takes the time to help. Such a gem, a lovely prof!
Dr. Clements was the best professor I had in my first year of the Life Sciences program at Mac. She is an AMAZING lecturer and her assessments are extremely fair. First-year calculus can be intimidating, and many people dont do well- but if you have Dr. Clements and you put in the work you should do fantastic. I WILL MISS YOU CLEMENTS!!
keep it 100, easy teacher. Just show up
Erin is a great prof. Makes me enjoy a class with boring content. She wants you to succeed, tests are made up entirely of practice tests and assignments.
She's straightforward and isn't boring.
Erin Clements is by far the best math professor I have ever had, she is clear concise and straight to the point. Her tests were very simple but I did find the final exam particularly difficult.
She really cares about the well being of her students. Her classes aren't boring and you don't know how time flies in that class. She reminds me of Miss Honey from Matilda :)
The best professor I've had at McMaster. She is such a sweet person who really cares about her students and genuinely wants everyone she teaches to succeed. She made me like math again. 10/10
Clements is one of the best profs at McMaster. She genuinely cares about each and every student. She will respond to every single email/FB question! The course itself does tend to have low averages but if you do a lot of previous tests, attend tutorials and complete the homework, you should see questions you've done before on tests!
Very caring, clear explanations.
Clements The BEST!!! Loving, caring and inspirational to every students!!
smart, kind, and a good teacher. An overall gem!
she's so nice and makes math fun!!
Dr. Clements is a great prof. She's caring and is always available to answer questions. Her lectures were fast-paced at the start of the course but that's normal, you do get used to it. The only thing I would say is that even though classes start on time, lectures tend to surpass the 50 minute span, and you miss info if you have another class.
The cutest, nicest and sweetest teacher I have had so far. She is so caring and her stories are just amazing to help take your mind off uni stress. I also love her tests, as they are often pulled right from the powerpoints or textbooks, not really any curveballs.
Dr. Clements is such an angel, and one of the best profs Ive come across in my first year. On top of her caring nature, she explains mathematical concepts very clearly and makes math enjoyable by engaging with the class. I almost dropped 1LT3 since I had a bad experience with 1LS3, but I am so glad I stuck it through.
Prof. Clements is a wonderful teacher, who has amazing lectures. She explains concepts very clearly and answers questions during class promptly. Her tests are fair, but beware of the short amount of time provided for them. I would highly recommend taking her classes.
My favourite prof of all time. So caring and her lectures are easy to follow. She is very accesible outside of class and always answered my emails. She truely wants the best for her students and sets them up for success!
Tests were pretty tough in the moment but easy looking back. Really really good prof.
I really enjoyed her class, she explains concepts in great detail and in ways that are easy to understand. Her test are fair and similar to her practice tests, just make sure you really understand the concepts and keep up with the homework.
Favourite math professor. A very caring individual and explains things very very clearly and she doesn't mind taking time to explain if you are stuck on a concept. If you ever take this course, try your best to take it with her.
She is super nice but I struggled a lot in this class and she did not really accommodate that. If you are really strong in calculus you should be fine though
Best prof I had first sem! I've always loved calc and Dr. Clements' class made me love it even more. I am now taking Math 1LT3 because I enjoyed her teaching style for 1LS3 so much.
She is an amazing professor, she asks students what topics they like in the class for when she write midterms and exams so she can try to incorporate that into the tests. She starts lectures by asking students how they are and saying how she is. Extremely friendly, kind, caring, and gives respect to all her students.
I could rave about Dr. Clements for hours. She explains everything so clearly, gives extremely reasonable final exams and midterms, and is always so approachable. Her and I have even chatted after class about movie recommendations once. She is also very accessible when it comes to asking for help because she wants you to succeed. Tenure this angel!
She was super nice and her tests were very fair in length and content.
It was her first semester teaching the course so the lectures were rocky, but she was a nice prof, and answered questions inside and outside of class happily. The marking wasn't the worst, but 80% of the mark was midterms and exams, making it unforgiving.
Math 1LT3 with Dr. Clements was excellent! Despite finding the material challenging, Dr. Clements' teaching was clear and the tests were fair. Overall great class.
Very well spoken and great at teaching. Tests are a realistic expectation of difficulty. Would highly recommend. Chill demeanour.
Dr. Clements is AMAZING! Great lectures, very clear and thoroughly explains the material. Supports her students and wants people to succeed. Happy to answer questions after class or via email. She is very approachable honestly 10/10 would take her again in a heart beat.
Kind demeanor and personality. I didn't really find her lectures useful, but that's probably more because I already knew about Python before taking 1MP3 (a Python-oriented course). I'm sure you're in good hands if she's your prof nonetheless.
Super nice, incredible at teaching and quite funny! Explains everything really well and her writing is also very neat and easy to read. An absolute angel that saved me, don't know what I would have done without her
clements is sweet as a human, engaging, and fun. however, the course is so horrible and the profs do not help! nothing they teach is reflective of the exam or midterms and no great resources are provided as the textbook/coursepack work is not beneficial at all to succeeding. course is horribly organized and needs a revamp. clements is nice though
Clements is the nicest prof in the math department. Shes relatable, easy to talk to and super helpful both in and outside of class! Recommend her or watching her lectures even if shes not your prof because she explains reallyyyyyyy well. She takes her time and doesn't rush just to finish.
Dr. Clements is one of the nicest professors I've ever met, she is truly interesting in motivating her students and making them succeed. She is always available for help after lectures, during her office hours. However the course itself is boring and pretty complicated on purpose. Also, I don't really see how it might be useful for nonSTEM majors.
She's very kind and always makes sure people prioritize their well being. Also goes slow in class and explains things well to make sure people understand.
I have dyscalculia and have struggled severely with it my whole life so I was worried about my ability to pass this class but Dr Clements made it possible for me! She is kind, well-spoken in class and very open and honest about the difficulty of her course. Math is never easy but for me it has never been easier than when done with Dr. Clements!
she explains the material quite clearly, but unfortunately very slowly! I prefer watching her recordings on 2x speed, and even then I have to fast fwd. I stopped going to lectures very early on bc it's just a waste of time. But if you need the help, she's got you. Love her OneNote notebook, it made my life easier.
Fair teacher. She is always respectful towards students when giving lectures, and her punctuality reflects that. Profs arriving on time is always a green flag, a sign that they have their stuff together. Keep up with the homework, attend all lectures, and if there is a topic that you aren't confident in, always ask for help!
Ms.Clements is a wonderful professor. If u want to have a bright and chilling semester, trust me,pick her to be Ur coding professor definitely is a smart choice. I mean just do it.
Dr. Clements is an amazing prof! She is very caring and approachable, always available to answer questions after class and at office hours, and her lectures are amazing! Her lectures are easy to understand, and she explains things in a very clear/logical way! She clearly wants her students to do well! AND HER HANDWRITING IS AN ART!!
Dr. Clements was my favourite 1st yr prof, she is always available at office hrs & her lectures are easy to understand. If you are not a fan of application problems I recommend taking math 1A03/1AA3 instead of 1LS3/1LT3. They cover similar topics but 1A03/1AA3 have a more pure math approach & 1LS3/1LT3 involve many real world applications/models.
She was a great prof and a great person. I loved the speed of her lectures and that she hand wrote everything which made the information easy to follow. She was great at answering questions and was very helpful. The only downside is that due to the speed of her lectures, our class was typically behind. Her tests were fair.
LOVED Dr. Clements! She does teach a little slower than the other math professors but it pays off because she takes the time to explain concepts, engage with students, and answer questions. She also walks us through some of the coding lab questions and has the best wardrobe I've seen of a professor yet haha.
Dr. Clements is AMAZING! She teaches at a slower pace than most other math profs but explains in a way that is engaging & very clear to understand. She is always available to answer questions after lectures/at office hours and wanted to make sure students understood. Her tests were very fair and after each test she asked for student input/thoughts
This was a great intro to coding! She doesn't come from a compsci background herself, so it was less intimidating knowing that she understands the struggles of learning a programming language (python) for the first time. The course was a bit slow at times because she took you through every step very carefully, so not mad about that.
really great prof. i watched all of her lectures through echo360 and she always did a great job at explaining the content. her lectures were clear and straightforward. lots of practice materials for tests. flexible grading scheme. without doing any of the courseware homework, just the lectures and checkpoints, i ended the course with an 80%
I had to wait 45 mins for her to answer a question I had during a test (I took it in SAS so I had to use the provided phone). She was a nice prof, but this event had a detrimental effect on her.
Dr. Clements is such an amazing and kind professor! I had her in first year, and lowkey I just might take 1lt3 for the way she teaches + all the preparation she gives her students. As an upper year in bio, it's super rare to have an organized class, and Dr. Clements's class was so organized. Reminiscing it lol
She is very good at teaching, but classes can be repetitive and it can be easy to lose focus. I would definitely take her again. The tests are fair, but the grading can often be tough. The tests were on paper and only an hour long, so it was difficult to work out problems if you didn't already know them. Course relies too much on lin alg concepts.
Dr. Clements was handsdown one of the best profs I have had. She is the sweetest, most caring person who puts so much time and effort into her students. Her OneNotes are extremely organized (and her writing is so pretty). Tests are fair and relative to the Childsmath quizzes. I 100% recommend her; she made calc likeable!!!
Professor Clements is a thorough and caring instructor. Her lectures are clear and engaging, though she does teach at a slower pace. The homework and tests are challenging yet fair. I found unstuckstudy and the course materials very helpful for staying on top of the content.
She is the best prof ever!!! Her teaching is a gift to the students and the university. She is very approachable to ask even simple simple math questions. She made my first year easy by answer our questions about university in general. She cares about all of her students and even tells us stories in the lecture to make it more interesting!
100% one of the best profs at McMaster. Explains difficult math concepts very easily and smoothly. She's also very caring and helpful at all times. The tests are very fair and all the questions reflect lecture content. No surprises in this course at all. Will make you love and enjoy math as well!
One of the most incredible profs I had at Mac! She truly saved my calc grade from disaster. Her lectures were engaging, fun, interactive and moved at a great pace. She is an incredibly caring and relatable prof. Her tests were fair and gave lots of chances for part marks. There are lots of practice questions given that are helpful. Take her class!!
The teaching was great; nice organized note, and code prepared for us to experience on. Willing to answer any questions after the class. Didn't do well in one test, but the exam was easier than tests for me, and which boost the final mark.
Amazing professor, genuinely cares about the students and always happy to answer questions. Enjoyed her lectures as well, very enthusiastic
Dr. Clements deserves a Nobel Prize. Her lectures and digital notes are very easy to follow, explains things very clearly and illustrates them. Tests are very straight forward. It is clear she cares about her students, both academically and mentally. She gives good advice, and super approachable, always open to answering questions.
Very pleasant and easy to understand lectures.
Dr. Clements is super kind and helpful. She explains things very thoroughly and genuinely wants you to succeed in her class. Lectures are recorded and she shares a notebook with all the lecture annotations. Love her!
She is so sweet. I ended up watching all her recorded lectures and she made things so easy to understand. She understands where students commonly make mistakes and will take the time to explain those concepts thoroughly. Never tries to trick you or give you unrealistic expectations for any of the tests.
Queen of Hamilton Hall 👑
Dr. Erin Clements is my queen and I love her. Please live long and prosperously, beautiful Dr. Clements.
Great professor!
super awesome prof, always very engaging in all lectures and genuinely cares for students. goes out of her way to make sure students understand the lecture and is always open to questions. very fair and reasonable tests with no surprises (also similar to practice tests :D ).
Clements is a FANTASTIC teacher. I loved her lectures, her organization, her jokes, it was just all perfect. If you can take a course with her you should!
This course was great, the concepts were built slowly and Clements was extremely caring. There is plenty of resources to help you at all times and the tutorials are helpful, although they are not mandatory. Clements was extremely organized and prepared all the time, she is hilarious and engaging.
Dr. Clements is one of the best professors at McMaster if you have ANY math class try to take it with her. She is AMAZING!! The grade I got was of my own doing (as I was going through some stuff at the end of the semester) but she is incredible at explaining topics and answers questions proficiently. I cannot stress enough how awesome she is!!!
Amazing Prof.
Clements is amazing. You can see she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Honestly, the best prof I have had at mac!
Queen of Hamilton Hall
clements is so kind and always tries to talk to us before class starts, her tests are VERY fair and she offers multiple reweighting schemes on top of this! one thing i've noticed and she's admitted is that her tests can be very long for such a short time but i promise if you put in the effort you'll do well.
