Professor Dingrando's class in my option is unnecessarily rigorous and strict. There is HW assignments due every week along with 3 exams plus the final and a annual project report. Unless you are amazing at accounting, be prepared to reserve multiple hours outside of other classes for this one. She is very nice but she does have higher expectations
The worst prof i've taken at LUC. Expects you to know everything about accounting. Zooms through powerpoint slides, leaving everyone confused & gets mad when no one participates. Her attitude makes it hard to attend class. HW assignments are complicated & long. Be prepared to teach yourself the material b/c she doesn't do a good job of teaching.
Expects you to know everything off the bat and flies through the slides like we are supposed to know all of it. She is very serious about phones in class and will call you out if she catches you and might even kick you out of class. HW assignments are too long, and there are two of them due every week, and she wants you to take exams on paper...
Take another professor for ACCT202 if you can... Erin is very knowledgeable in Accounting and makes the exams ridiculously hard on top of the other homework assignments. Her lectures weren't helpful to me and the environment didn't seem motivational enough to learn in because all I cared about was not getting an F in her class.
Do yourself a huge favor and avoid taking her. Goes through the PowerPoint slides so fast and you barley even understand anything. Long hw assignments and tests are very hard. AVOID TAKING HER!!
Take another prof for ACCT202! She made me not want to attend classes. Has dry attitude and expects us to know everything. She'd get mad when no one knew the answer. HW assignments are long and complicated. Exam are difficult. Just find another prof.
Erin Dingrando was not a very good professor.Very intimidating. She zooms through PowerPoint slides and just expects everyone to know the material right off that bat. Long hw assignments and tests very very hard. Find a different ACCT202 prof.
I would highly reccomend getting a different prof for accounting. She thinks everyone knows how to do accounting already, and zooms through the slides. Her exams are hard, and she does not explain very well in class. It feels like you are taking an honors class instead of a regular intro class.
no clue why she has a low score. i almost failed 201 (WITH a professor w a high score here) and her class is SO much better. i feel like i can come to her if i dont understand something which i cant say for a lot of other professors. she can go fast but her lectures are great and she doesnt mind reiterating stuff. 1 short and 1 long homework a week
Prof E doesn't deserve all the bad reviews!! She is super understanding and you can tell she genuinely wants us to succeed. Practice exams are given before each midterm AND you get to make a cheat sheet. Her class is hard but she's transparent about expectations/exams and is super willing to help. put some respect on her name smh
Professor Dingrando is great. Everyone that complains about her zooming through PowerPoint is afraid to ask questions. Her homework is "long" but super easy and she CURVES all the exam grades. You are allowed a cheat sheet for every exam, no questions asked. If you put the minimal amount of effort into this class you will do well.
Not sure how she has low reviews. She is a great teacher if you put an effort. She is regularly available and responds quick to emails. She cares how her students do as well. She has a lot of personality and is super cool, you just got to talk to her! I will say her exams are difficult, but all you need to do is study hard!
Not sure how she has high ratings, but it's clearly not accurate. She does in fact zoom through her powerpoint slides and expects you to know everything about accounting. She does not explain the material well and her tests are hard. Her attitude and teaching style makes me not want to attend class.
Honestly just look for another professor for this class. There are better professors.
Prof E is a really smart professor but shouldn't be teaching undergraduate students, preferably graduate. Her class felt really fast-paced and the class environment made it miserable to learn. She said to reserve "7-10" hours outside of lecture classes for ACCT 202. I didn't enjoy the class at all so would recommend someone else if you can!
Erin is my favorite professor I have had at Quinlan. This class is challenging but as long as you put the work in you will be able to do well. She is very kind and understanding and is always able to meet if I have any questions on the material. She has very clear grading criteria and often gives extra credit (which I highly recommend doing).
People saying they had to teach themselves just never tried to talk to her. Prof E was happy to sit down with me multiple times this semester outside of class and her scheduled office hours. She can talk a little fast but if you raise your hand and ask you to repeat something, she literally always does. Not sure why her ratings are low
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think she's bad. All slides are posted so even if you miss something in lecture, it's pretty easy to go back and review. Her tests are hard yes, but if you put time into making a good cheat sheet, you'll be fine! Only not giving her a 5 because I think the smartbook assignments we have are a waste of time.
Prof D is really a kind person, you can tell she means well to her students. However, this is her first year teaching, it's obvious that she wasn't exactly prepared to teach us. Prof D expects us to know everything acct already. And we don't.
prof d is honestly an extremely nice person. all lectures are available on sakai. but tbh the lectures do not completely help in terms of homework and exams. shes too fast paced for my liking. i dont think she should be teaching an intro and undergrad course. i feel like she would be perfect for grad students or a higher level course.
Its Prof D's 1st year teaching and I dont think she realized what she was getting herself into. She is very well educated and has amazing experience. But for Undergrad acct, she is too difficult. There is no reason that her class should be so hard and stressful. She needs to rethink her teaching methods bc reading off slideshows doesn't work
I believe this is her first year teaching and still needs a lot of improvements, especially teaching methods. Her class is very difficult and very fast-paced. Powerpoint slides are on sakai, but you still have to spend looong hours outside of class teaching yourself the material. Definitely take another professor,
Pretty confused by some of these reviews. Prof D is awesome. If you read the book and go to class, the homework is easy. She does the homework IN LECTURE a lot too so people saying the homework is too long are either not going to class or not paying attention. She also holds extra office hours to review before exams, which are incredibly helpful.
This class is not that difficult. Go to class, pay attention, you'll be fine. Sometimes she does talk a little fast.
Erin was really strict this fall semester but I feel like in the spring she may be more lenient since she is a brand new professor still adjusting. I do feel bad for her low ratings, but what we were given wasn't what we expected. There needs to be improvement of exam formats, class environment, and understanding that we are humans not robots.
Professor Dingrando is one of the most excellent professors I've had. She seems to care for her students and is very accessible after class. She gives opportunities for extra credit, lets us do test corrections, and tries to give us as many points as possible. Her exams can be stressful; however, they are multiple-choice. Overall she's great.
I feel like her negative reviews had to have been after that first exam because it was ridiculously hard. She came in with high expectations (probably too high), but Prof E is great. Not an "easy A" by any means, but she's incredibly kind and answers emails faster than any prof. She also took time to help me with my resume and cover letter!
Not one of those classes where you can skip and still expect to do well. Pro E also gives extra credit in class a lot. She's a good teacher. Literally always answers emails, even at like 10pm. Her lectures are also entertaining. Lots of discussion intead of all problems
Erin Dingrando has to be the worst professor ive ever taken. Her class is very difficult and she has high expectations. Her exams are hard and make no sense. I recommend you take a different professor for acct.
I have Professor Dingrando for 201 and just registered to take her for 202. She's awesome. I was terrified of taking accounting, but her class is actually my favorite this semester. I'd recommend taking her for 201
I didn't have a great experience with Prof E first time teaching ACCT202 but I can give advice. GO to her class even if it's not mandatory attendance, start studying 2-3 weeks before each exam, ask questions in class - she loves participation, and stay on top of every assignment. It's a steady course just very concept/lecture heavy. Good luck!!
I personally wouldn't take her again. Her class is a bit difficult & her teaching style isn't great. I believe this is her first year teaching and she definitely has a lot to improve on. I spent hrs studying/preparing for exams, asked questions, did the hw but her exams were still hard. She goes through powerpoint slides quickly, very fast paced.
The most accessible professor I've had at Loyola! You can tell she really cares about her students. Always willing to meet to discuss concepts, practice problems, career advice. The number of low ratings she has surprised me. There are practice exams before every exam and extra review problems every chapter. Study hard and go to office hours!
No because that's what I was thinking, those positive reviews have to be a joke! Like this professor was not it. Her class made me want to change my major back to bio. Her exams are difficult and study guides don't even help. Find a different professor.
Not a joke! Prof E is the real deal. Her class is hard, but she is a great teacher. Expectations for the class are really high but she has office hours every day if you need extra help. Lectures are actually fun. Her sense of humor is weird, but entertaingn. Take her class, you won't regret it!
Prof E is great. Pay attention and take notes? you'll do great. Never come to class? you won't do well. She is well-informed and makes accounting easier to understand. Expecting an accounting class to be easy is ridiculous. She does her best to helo us, too!!
Great prof!
Do yourself a favor and avoid taking her class. Absolute nightmare!
Lol is professor E leaving these reviews cuz chil her class was not it.
I usually attend class, but I can have those weeks where I miss a few classes because I don't feel like going. To be honest, all you have to do is complete all the homework, and save every single practice problem she gives before exams because they are literally exactly like the exams... Just complete the practice problems, and the practice exam!!
This class is not difficult if you give a little bit of effort. No accounting class is going to be easy so its not a bad choice. She gives a lot of extra credit making it almost impossible not to pass. She is a good and knowledgeable teacher and cares that her students succeed.
Erin is one of the best professors I've had. She truly cares about the students in her class getting the content and is super understanding. She is very reasonable and offers extra credit. She is really good at explaining concepts and goes through multiple ways to solve the same problem and makes the class engaging. Please take her!!
Her class isn't a walk in the park, but she is more than willing to work with you. She offers exam corrections for extra credit, will meet with you outside of class to go over the homework and exams, and was one of the more engaging lectures I've had at Loyola (which is hard to do in an accounting class). I would 100% take her again
Her class was not easy. You have to spend hours outside of class teaching yourself the material. Tests are hard.
If you're an average student, you'll do fine in this class. Prof E is INCREDIBLY accessible in office hours and has been nothing but kind and helpful when I've reached out for help. Her lectures are also very straight forward, which is nice. With basic time management skills and the ability to study for 45 minutes before the test, you'll get an A.
Dingrando's class was a nightmare!! Lectures consist of her rambling on and on and reading off powerpoint. Tests were difficult.
Her class was very hard. Don't recommend.
Her class made me want to change my major
Absolute nightmare.
Yall these reviews are funny shes not great at all dont take her or else youre basically putting yourself in hell.
You think you're getting the hang of it by studying for 2+ hours, and then you take the test and realize you know NOTHING because she decided to whip out questions we NEVER talked about. Her multiple choice questions make zero sense. If you can study outside her class then take her, if you dont study outside then dont.
She's great. You won't regret taking her class.
Not sure where these bad reviews are coming from?? Prof E was my favorite prof. The homework isn't helpful when studying for exams, but if you take her practice exams and review the in-class problems, the exams are really easy.
She says attendance isn't mandatory but skipping class is a bad idea. Questions on the exams are similar to the ones you do in class so don't skip. Professor Dingrando is a good teacher but her class was definietly my hardest this semester.
Definitely a hard class, test are very difficult even studying hours outside of class. Homework does not resemble the tests. She is a good professor and very knowledgeable. However, she tends to move very fast through her lectures. There is a decent amount of homework. If you are good at accounting take her.
This is a hard class. It requires you to spend hours outside of class learning the material. Zooms through the PowerPoint slides.
She's a good professor, if you spend 30 minutes outside of class to review the material the class is easy. The homework is reasonable, she allows cheat sheets for the exams along with test corrections. Just study a little bit and you'll be fine.
She is very kind and she cares about you getting the best grade possible (offers a LOT of extra credit). Take notes before the lecture on the smartbook assignments, they will help you IMMENSELY since she kind of speeds through things. She works on test questions in class beforehand so make sure you memorize how to do them.
Professor Erin was awesome! She took our feedback and really improved her lectures. Plus she gave us cheat sheets for all of the exams, plenty of opportunities for test corrections, and SO MANY extra credit opportunities. Whoever wrote those 1 star reviews does not know what they're talking about.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! HIGHLY RECOMEND.
ACCT is a difficult class and requires studying no matter who u take. Prof E is so kind and really knowledgeable. U can use cheat sheets, u have unlimited attempts on the hw, and she gives amazing study guides for exams. She rlly cares abt her students. Come to class, do the practice problems, ask for help and u will do just fine.
I hate seeing her score be so low, she is such a fair professor. I recommend her to everyone, she cares so much and goes the extra mile to make sure you actually understand the material if you come to her with questions.
If you're confused about the homework or in class, she is insanely accessible during office hours and will sit with you until you understand. Her teaching is clear and concise and she obviously cares about whether her students are learning. Accounting is a hard class, but she gives so much extra credit, test corrections, and a cheat sheet on tests.
Erin is an amazing professor. The bad reviews must just not have paid attention bc I'm so confused why there are so many bad ones. Homework is easy, and lectures are engaging. Curves exams and allows corrections. She is literally so nice and funny and I highly recommend.
Prof E. is literally the best and makes accounting fun. For those that rated her a low score because they said exams were incredibly hard, I think you need to check herself because this course was super easy. She offers extra credit, test corrections, and even a cheat sheet. Do yourself a favor and take this course next semester :)
My favorite professor at Loyola. Ignore all of the bad reviews, I don't understand why they are even there. I recommend her to everyone I know. Take her if you can! Accounting is hard no matter who your prof is, but she gives so much extra credit and lets you do corrections.
She is a gem. Take her if u can. She takes time out of her weekend to host extra office hours to prep us for exams. Exams r hard, but u can use ur notes, and u have unlimited hw attempts. She is MORE than willing to sit with u and help make sure u succeed. These bad reviews make 0 sense to me. Loved her class.
100% take her!! Dingrando is one of those profs where you can tell she wants you to do well in her class. There are so many extra credit options and curves. You also get a cheat sheet on every single exam. She's super friendly during office hours and she's always willing to help outside of class. Take her if you can!!!!
She was a good prof who grew on me as the semester went by. 3 exams and a final with weekly HW and SB. lectures every class and does jeopardy reveiws before exam which kind of help. take her if you can study on your own outside of class because she adds some ?'s on exams that arent discussed in as often.
Prof E is absolutely amazing. She gives students so many resources to succeed and she TRULY cares for all her students. She goes above and beyond to make sure her class gets a good grade. You can use cheat sheets on exams, she gives practice problems which help SO much, and does exam corrections. My fav ACCT professor. Highly recommend.
Prof. Dingrando is genuinely one of those professors who want you to succeed. She was so kind and patient, even when I asked a lot of questions, and she gives cheat sheets, study guides, and extra credit for exams. Favorite accounting teacher, and one of my favorites in general at Loyola.
I had Prof. E for 201, and 202, and she is just an amazing professor. Accounting is HARD. It's going to be hard no matter who you take, but she makes it as clear as she can by responding to emails asap, so many office hours, curves, cheat sheets, test corrections, and more! I highly recommend, one of my favorite professors at Loyola.
Prof E is so amazing. She does everything in her power to make sure her students do well. You get so many resources to prepare for exams, and as long as u study u will succeed. She will go out of her way to make sure u do well on the exams. Loved her. Ignore these 1 star reviews they make no sense at all. take her!
She is the best professor I have taken here at Loyola. You can tell that she cares about her students a lot, if you are struggling she will give you really good help. Definitely take her! I wish I had taken her for accounting 201. The class consists on weekly hw and sb (based on completion), 3 tests, a project, and the cumulative final exam.
I cannot believe that Prof E has this low a rating, considering how she runs the class. A sheet of notes on exams, exam corrections, partial points on questions you get wrong. 25% of your grade is based on homework and SB that are difficult not to get 100% on. Show up to class and you get 100% for participation (10% of grade), take Prof Dingrando.
She is one of the best professors I've had. she is caring and wants to see her students succeed don't miss class you'll fail as lectures are very heavy. Def 5/5 prof also she is funny.
I love her these she's great caring, and explains topic really well. greatest professor ever. trust
Professor Dingrando is one those I'll never forget. I came in very anxious about the class, but she is so good at her job. She does have a very intense rhythm, but as long as you do what you have to do and follow her guidelines, you will ace the class. Definitely recommend taking her, she's an amazing lecturer and really is helpful.
I would def take Prof Dingrando again. She gives lots of practice problems which are similar to questions on tests. There are 2 midterms and 1 final, all of which you can use a cheat sheet for. She makes sure to review frequently to keep the topics fresh. Homework is a free 100.
Prof E is one of the best instructors I have had at Loyola. She is extreamly caring about her students and if you are struggling she truly cares and will help you succeed in her class if you actually put the work in.
Prof. Dingrando was such an incredible professor. I don't know why so many people gave her a 1/5 rating. She has a strict demeanor, but once you get to know her better, she's very chill, and you can tell she cares a lot about her students' success. What stuck out to me was that she always answered any questions. I highly recommend taking her!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Professor Dingrando. I was scared going into Accounting because of other people's horror stories but after the first two weeks with her, I genuinely started to enjoy the subject. If you like an active professor who just does practice questions all class and is very hands-on, take her! My professor standards are much higher now...
Take Dingrando, she makes the class very manageable and teaches well as she is extremely experienced in the field. You are graded on homework and 3 exams so make sure you complete all your homework. You will need to study for this class but she lets you use a cheat sheet on the exam. Pay attention in class and you will get a good grade.
So good, i want to take her for 202.
