Class average on the first exam was below 50%. She does not teach the material, and blames the students for not understanding her high-level test questions.
She is very challenging, and teaches bio 201 like the students should already know the material. Definitely not a class to take first semester; you should probably already be used to taking college courses by the time you take this one. From what I understand, it is possible to succeed in this class, but you have to really put in effort.
Dr. Meyer does seem like a caring and nice person, but her teaching style is difficult. The class average for Exam 1 was a 50, no curve was given, and was told that we did not study correctly. The expectation is that you already have a high understanding of Biology, even though this is a class with no pre-requisites, which is very contradicting.
first exam grade was avg 50, and we were told that we needed to study better. she teaches the course like we should already know everything. exam questions are much harder than what she teaches us. she gives us "study guides" for each lecture but they have zero relation to what is on the exam. exam grades are worth the majority of the grade
I usually do really well in science based classes but have faced many challenges in this class. Any time someone asked questions she just reads the powerpoint rather than going into depth. All her thoughts come from reading the powerpoint.
I thought her lectures were great, but her exams are awful.
DO NOT TAKE HER LECTURE!! I was top ten in my class which is why I was IN SHOCK to be almost failing. The study guides DO NOT correlate with the exams and she blames the students for failing, claiming it is a "weed-out course." She seems like a very nice person, but not a great lecturer. I promise you will regret taking her! Microphone issues a lot
I can't graduate on time if I drop this class, so here I am PRAYING I can get above a C. Don't be like me. Get out while you can. Dr. Meyer is the kind of prof who prides herself in students failing her exams. Take it from me, you will legitimately fail. I got a 35 on the first exam- I've never experienced a professor like this in my life.
She gives a study guide after every lecture which would be a good thing if they didn't take hours to complete just for none of the information on them to be on the test. There's no way to study for the test because the question on the test are nothing like the ones on the practice test, study guides, or pearson reviews.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT A CAREER. You study so much but then open up the exam booklet and are completely lost. Her average was a 50%, the exam is nothing like the study guides or the exam reviews.
I lost all of my dignity in this class
She makes this class very hard to pass exams are horrible nothing like the study guides or practice exam questions. You are lucky to make a C on an exam that's with guessing. Professor's should want their students to pass.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! More than likely the hardest class i have taken thusfar. The class average was around 50. The first test covering 11, 40-60 slide lectures, with minimal useful studying material. The practice exams, as well as the study guides were virutually useless in preparation for the first exam. Just do yourself a favor and drop.
The lectures were rushed and ha
Dr. Meyer made it impossible to pass this class, and because of this, I'm not able to graduate on time anymore. I spent weeks studying for the first exam only to make a 40, and the study guides she provided for exam 2 don't relate to her lecture materials or the practice exams. I truly do not know what I'm going to do. Avoid at all costs.
there's no option to give 0/5, so a 1 will have to do
horrible, horrible teacher (term used loosely). Doesn't actually teach anything during the lectures and instead blames the students for not being good enough when the class averages stay at F's. Genuinely zero consistency between class materials and tests. NEVER EVER consider taking this class if you want to progress in your degree and/or life.
This professor is actually the worst professor I have had so far at UNCW. For a general education course, this class could not be any more difficult. If you are looking for a Bio 201 course to take, I am begging you to consider another professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! The exam material is nothing like material taught during lectures. Study material has no correlation to exam questions. Your grade is dependent on 4 exams and homework.
I have never struggled in a class so much. She is a very nice person and cares about what she is teaching. The tests are very difficult. I studied so many of the modules and practice tests just to fail both of my tests. I went to SI sessions too and they were so easy but compared nothing to the tests. I am praying I can pass this class with a C.
The course content is just hard. Bio 201 is supposed to be challenging, it requires more work than other courses. It is possible to pass this class, but I spent more time on it than on all of my other classes combined. You have to give this course your everything. She is a good professor who cares, the course is just very challenging.
Makes the tests impossible.
She is a new professor so she is still learning how to teach at different levels in my opinion. But if you put in the work and study you can do good in her class. Take the lectures serious as well as outside of class work. DO WORK OUTSIDE OF CLASS. It is very time consuming but you'll thank yourself for taking the time.
SI sessions are what saved my grade in this course. I feel like I didn't learn anything in lecture, but only learned through the SI sessions. When Meyer explained things, it was on a higher level that only a few actually understood. You will probably only be engaged and interested if you are interested in the specific topics covered.
BROOOOO SHE'S BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOTTA LEARN HOW TO TEACH!!!!!!!
This class makes me feel so dumb. Why did I have a A in the lab and a D in the lecture. It makes no sense and the professor definitely doesn't care about her students. I think she likes the fact that her class is so hard to pass and everyone either drops it or fails.
Don't take this class unless you want to feel dumb and incapable of learning. Ive never made below a B my whole life and I literally can't bring my grade up at all. Don't expect to learn anything either.
I was not expecting this class to be as hard then it is. I put in a lot of work studying and I still fail the exams. During the lectures it is so hard to understand the material. I have to relearn everything on my own. Each exam you need to study 12 lectures with 20 plus slides and it is to much to learn. I would not recommend her.
you know that person that knows what they're talking about, just can't teach it to someone else. That's Dr. Meyer. She's a nice lady, she cares, she just can't teach. To be fair to her, tho it's her first year doing this, so maybe she will improve over time.
She needs to be teaching higher biology, and I think she would be a better fit for that. Not intro or intermediate. She explains things like we are Masters/PhD students and her exams are structured where you need to learn deeper and deeper about the concepts and not just the overview like presented in the lectures or PowerPoints.
She knows biology she needed to be teaching PhD STUDENTS!!!!!!!!!!! she is out of place teaching 201 or anything lower she definitely would have a higher success rate if it was a much harder bio. but yeah don't take her class u will fail
Terrible lecture teacher!!! Teaches at you instead of to you. Explains something in 2 seconds and expects you to get it. does not answer the questions you ask. Terrible at preparing you for exams, then says you are the reason you are doing so bad in the exams when more than half the class does bad!! would never take again with her!!
This professor does not teach well at all and explains concepts in a very difficult way. Her exams are based on 12 or more lectures and she does not prepare you well for the exams. I would not recommend taking her class unless you want to fail.
Dr. Meyer would be a good professor teaching a higher level of biology; she has no business teaching entry-level bio. She is kind and brilliant. She assumes students already know a lot coming into the class; she made it more difficult than it needed to be. She offered extra credit (10 exam questions for 1 point), so it wasn't very helpful for me.
DO NOT TAKE HER. While she is a kind individual, she is a terrible professor. Her exams are nothing like what she actually teaches in the lectures. You have to memorize at least 10 chapters of material for each exam and her study guides do not prepare you very well. If you can avoid taking her, I would.
Dr. Meyer has been very helpful. If you put in effort and go to office hours you will succeed. She cares about you the student and wants to see you learn and grow. But if you don't put in effort and treat it like a high school class or half ass it you won't succeed. You'll learn a lot about study habits and what it's like to fail and also succeed.
The material is hard. Her tests are not impossible. Read the textbook and be meticulous, use youtube, chatgpt, and all the resources you can find to understand the concepts, focus on that and you'll do decent, if not well. Do the prac. exams and study deeply the ones you got wrong, some qs show up on the tests. Don't waste time on the study guides.
Dr. Meyer teaches the material well, and she cares, but it is a tough subject. This is not a class you can slide by in by doing the bare minimum, you will need to put in the time for this class. Study, review lectures and the textbook, attend SI sessions and drop by during her office hours. TAKE THE TIME!!
Yes, the material in the course is hard, however, the way Dr. Meyer taught the material was unhelpful. I quit going to lectures probably 2 months ago and just taught myself the material on my own and started doing better on tests in the course. Buy a person plus it will be your best friend to study with.
Dr. Meyer is a good professor, it is a difficult class and supposed to be a "weed-out" course. Her lectures get repetitive as in most classes she reads from slides. I recommend taking notes before class preparing any questions you have, ask follow-ups, she is good at simplifying. People aren't prepared bcus u have to put in more work than in HS.
Please do not take this class. Save yourself, her exams are horrible
She is clearly very educated and cares about her students. While the class is not easy, if you are willing to put in the work you can pass. She holds office hours where you can come and ask questions, SI is very helpful, and you need to be prepared to study. Many of the bad reviews come from people who expect to get an A for just showing up.
This class was extremely difficult. There are many lectures and the tests are very in-depth. No matter how much I studied the test concepts were still challenging and did not make sense. She expects hours and hours of studying outside of class and bio lab. Good luck if you're taking this class!
This class is difficult but you must be willing to put the time into it. The more time you put into the material the much more confident you will feel. Reach out early to peers for help. She is willing to help but you have to reach out first. The material is hard to grasp but you have to keep at it. It is VERY HARD material but it can be done.
Dr. Meyer Is truly a nice person and, very passionate about the subject. I fear that her lectures are very confusing though and are in-depth. This is an entry level course and she teaches like we are grad school students. Be prepared, It's tough, especially with her.
This is one of the hardest biology classes I've taken, especially for being an entry-level course. Every lecture has so so so much information, it's overwhelming. Definition of death by PowerPoint. Exams were extremely difficult. Professor Meyer was very accessible outside of class and quickly responded to emails and was happy to provide guidance.
Other people will say this class is impossible, but if you want to fully understand bio & your major- this is exactly what you need. This was very lecture heavy, but well thought out. She explains things well, just come prepared and take notes before hand. If you put in the work- you will do great. She knows her stuff, and will always help.
This class was a horrible stressor, and actually drained my mental health extremely. The course relies on homework assignments and exams, but the homework assignments do not weigh much in relation to what the exams do. The exams also are structured awfully, as well as the exams. Dr. Meyer does seem like a caring person, but not a great professor.
I felt like Dr. Meyer did a great job at condensing insane amount of course content within the lectures, but also making it clear that additional studying would be required to succeed. She provides study guides for every lecture with everything you need to know for the test. I liked how challenging the class was because it pushed me to fully learn.
Erin Meyer has one of the most difficult and confusing lectures I have ever attended. Material showed up on the exam that was confusing, and was not taught fully in lecture.
whatever you do. DO NOT TAKE DR MEYER. no matter what you study or how much, it will most likely not be on the test. she does not teach you how to apply what you are learning AT ALL. taking her tests feels like reading something in another language. lack of respect towards students and acts like she is better than you. also the final was AWFUL :)
Dr. Meyer is very nice and kind. She will help with understanding of you go to her. That being said, this course will take a lot out of you. You are expected to do a lot of studying (something I had trouble doing) and most of your grade is the exams. My advice would be to make sure to pay attention in class and ask questions.
Does not know how to teach. Speeds through lectures and won't slow down when asked to. Material on slides how's doesn't match study guides or exams. Awful, and impossible to learn from. Should not be a professor.
She said I was doing everything right, and there wasn't anything else she could tell me. She told me to pay more attention in class, but I showed up daily and made notes before the lecture. I watched YouTube videos on what our test would be about and ended up getting 20% better than I did when listening to her teach.
For Dr Meyer's first semester teaching she did an average job. Her lectures were definitely information heavy and overwhelming at times but sadly that is just how the course load is. The worst thing about this class was the review sessions. She was always helpful during office hours so I recommend that. Very sweet though but wouldn't take again.
I had no complaints for Meyer until our first exam. Her exams do not match her lecture styes. I had a very low grade in the beginning and went to her for help and she did not help. If you have to take her make sure to read the textbook more than her lectures.
i've never gotten a b in my life, not even in college. i finished with a c in this class. i would have more sympathy in my review if i felt meyer cared about her students, but i don't get that impression. stay away if you can. awful tests, lectured that don't align with study materials or exams, shaming students for bad grades.
Some would say she teaches a difficult course which may be true, but she does not go out of her way to make things difficult. This course felt like a great introduction to cells and how they work, which will help us all who continue on the STEM path. She also made time to have meetings with me during the semester, which I really appreciate.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. While she is very knowledgeable about Biology, she does NOT know how to teach. She often times reads off the lecture slides and does not teach you how to learn the topic. She goes into minor detail, the absolute bare basics. The tests do not align with the study material and are so far off from the practice questions.
I did everything in my power to do well in her class. She is very nice but just NOT a good teacher. I ended up with a B but it killed me going through this class, do not take her.
Dr. Meyer is very educated when it comes to the content of the class, but she has difficulty teaching the material to students. Do not expect to be “given” anything in this class, you will have to work harder than you ever have. Her class is incredibly lecture heavy and you are expected to entirely teach yourself with only the textbook and lecture.
She was great, and the class was not hard. The exams are harder than the practice exams, but as long as you know how and why things happen, you will be fine. Homework and attendance saved my grade. Do the extra credit.
She gives you all the slides to study which have 95% of what's on the exams. Not a bad lecturer just ask your questions one on one before/after class. If you study what she gives you to study you'll be fine.
Dr Meyer tries to reach out to students in her lecture to let everyone know of her availability and willingness to help you. This class in NOT easy and you need to study way earlier than you think, with a group. Attend office hours and put effort into your grade, she is happy to to help you understand. Most people improve after the first exam.
Professor Meyer is very knowledgeable, however should not be teaching intro level Bio. She goes into minimal detail and glazes over important subject matter. When the average on the first exam was a 50%, she blamed all of us students for not studying enough and being prepared, taking no accountability that she may be the problem. do not take!
Just don't take ur pick a different major
Professor Meyer is a sweet person, but I could not get behind her teaching style. This class is not easy but is doable if you actually put in the effort and study, however Pro. Meyer def didn't help make the class any easier. I did like that she provided a study guide and practice exam, but practice exam was not similar to the actual exam.
just dont.
I feel compelled to write this review because this score is truly bizarre. I don't want to assume any reason why people would be rating her so badly; Dr. Meyer is very knowledgeable, personable, and will explain anything you ask. This is one of the few times I would say to **disregard** this score. She is great for intro to bio.
Dr. Meyer is VERY accessible outside of class. I attended almost all of her office hours and asked her many questions I had prepared during the lecture and overlooked my exams. Overall, her material is digestible if you study hard and go to office hours.
This class was unnecessarily difficult. She went too in-depth on what you didn't need to know and didn't go in-depth enough on the things you did need to know. If you want to pass this class you really have to lock in and learn on your own because her lecture won't be enough to get you through.
Erin Meyer was a great professor, as long as you go to class, do the homework, and study like you should do for any class you'll be fine. All the complaints about her are unnecessary.
She was a really knowledgeable professor who was always willing to answer questions and explain in detail. I don't understand the common frustration with her class. I think people just weren't prepared for a college-level class with a heavy curriculum. She gave lots of exam prep and access to resources.
She is a very sweet and caring professor who is willing to go out of her way and help you with anything. Although I am not a bio major and her test can be difficult, she has not been as bad as I thought. You definitely do need to study and put in effort to get the grade that you want, but it's still possible to do well in her class.
Dr. Meyer was not bad for BIO 105 at least. Some of these reviews are a little confusing to understand. She is very knowledgable and as long as you try your best, you will be fine.
Dr. Meyer is very sweet, and I think she wants her students to succeed. Her class is very lecture heavy and the tests are weighted heavily. Studying the material is crucial. I am not a biology fan, so this class was not enjoyable for me. But the class is okay.
Dr. Meyer is very knowledgeable and I only took this class because I am a non-stem major. It is very heavily weighted on 3 test so make sure to study.
Very caring and passionate prof. Make sure to study for the 3 exams, it is the majority of your grade
Very kind and caring about her students. Take for Bio-105. Material is very easy and if you just go to the lectures and put a little bit of effort you can pass easily.
Meh. Not the best, not the worst. Biology 105 is an easy class, but Meyers would sometimes overcomplicate the material. You HAVE to go to the lectures because attendance is taken. The majority of your grade comes from three exams. If there is another option for Bio 105 teacher, I would stay clear of Meyers.
Shes really nice and lectures are very easy to understand. Extra credit is available and your only grades are 3 exams (optional final), 2 article analysis, and easy weekly quizzes. She was also always avaible to help and gave us many resources outside of the lecture (study guide, videos, etc..) idk why she has such a bad rating lol
She doesn't deserve this terrible review. She's a really sweet person and works well with students. Extra credit is provided and she works with you to make sure you understand everything. The tests are all multiple choice and there is limited work outside of class time. She's great and really cares for her students.
I studied for the 3 exams and I would recommend studying to every student, and I scored a 100 on all 3 exams. Lecture isn't bad and she usually ends about 10 minutes early which is nice. Meyers is also a really passionate and caring teacher too who always wants to help her students understand the material.
This class is difficult which is expected of a biology course. She provides study guides and an extra credit opportunity. If you use the provided resources she gives you, you should do well. Also you should go to class because there is a participation grade. She also gives a practice exam that is very helpful. She also has open hours for questions.
do not listen to any of the good reviews. if you even in the slightest don't like biology do yourself a favor and pick a different class. she does not go over anything on the test or will go too in depth on a topic then get mad at the class when they do bad on an exam. Just. Dont.
If you can get a different professor, go for that. Also don't choose an 8am because she talks incredibly fast and its too early for ts.
Her exams were a joke, like actually. A good amount of her students had to retake this class. (My advisor told me lol) The course itself is hard enough and she is even worse. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money with her.
She doesn't help students in any way shape or form. Practice exams and homework have no help or correlation to the material on the exam. DO NOT TAKE. Entire grade is based upon exams. Homework and quizzes count for 5% so very difficult to bring grade back up!!!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. SHE CAN NOT TEACH. SHE READS OFF OF SLIDES AND GIVES EXAMS THAT CONTAIN MATERIAL NOT LEARNED DURING LECTURES OR IN TEXTBOOK!!!
I like her class. She is nice and the slides are easy to follow. Idk why her rating is so bad. Her tests are easy and we don't have to take the final if we do not want to. She also gives extra credit. Sometimes she does go a little fast but it's fine. Would take again.
I was in the infamous BIO-201 8 AM section. Her exam scores were the same as other professors', and she had a forgiving grade replacement policy. Most fails and withdrawals were freshmen in a 200 level 8 AM science class. Many failed the 1st exam and withdrew or spiraled even though the other exams were easy. 201 is hard, but Dr. Meyer isn't bad.
She is a really good and thorough professor. I think people just struggle to grasp everything she goes over because there is so much material in this class. She does a really good job of answering questions and providing all resources needed to pass :)
Doesnt teach but instead reads off slides HW is based from a difficultly worded textbook which is never on exams Attendance not mandatory but graded online questions every class If you arent a science-brained person/without a base understanding of biology I would highly recommend you pick someone else A is achievable if you have base knowledge tho
Look for a different professor!!! I've never struggled this bad in a class, If your majoring in nursing and want a B+ or higher get a different professor. The only things that impact your grade is exams. The averages on each exams are not good, no curve, and little extra credit. She's very kind and extremely smart I was just not able to keep up.
Absolutely awful! Do not take this class unless you want to teach yourself all of the information and still be confused. She just reads off the slides and doesn't make the information understandable by any means. She went out of the country for 2 weeks, and on the day she returned, she gave our class an exam. DO NOT TAKE, unless you want to suffer.
She doesn't really teach the material honestly, just reads off slides. Never really goes into detail about the course material and tends to let you teach yourself. I mean, if you're smart its not that bad, otherwise good luck. Its also extremely difficult to reach her outside of classroom hours, and most times she cancels her office hours.
Avoid this class at all costs. Only four impossible exams determine your grade, with no homework or support. The instructor was absent for weeks, then gave a test without review. Communication is poor, expectations unclear, and success feels impossible. Worst class I've taken.
This is legitimately the worst class I have right now. The exams aren't even passable. When I consistently study the course material she gives (i.e. slides with information ripped straight out of the textbook, making it useless) and still don't see improvement in my test scores. I took the practice exam using the notes she gave and still got 26/40
Reading these reviews really upsets me because Professor Meyers is one of the best professors I've ever had. BIO 201 is tough, fast-paced and full of info. Everything on exams is on her slides, and she's always helpful in her office hours. Study consistently, use the STEM Lab, and you'll do well. She truly cares about her students' success.
I could not recommend her less. one star is generous. I had to learn everything myself outside of classes and through SI. she made this class extremely hard to do well in and is just overall not a kind person. take any other professor.
only the strong will survive..
Meyer reads off slides, doesn't explain the material, which makes it hard to learn anything. Your grade relies heavily on the three exams. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to PAY for a website to count your attendance, which is crazy. The practice exams are super difficult and nothing like the real tests
SOS DO NOT TAKE!! Not only is she an awful teacher but she's also a genuinely awful person. She is truly the deb in disguise. BEWARE you WILL fail!
She is an awful teacher! I've already been struggling with mental health and this class has sent me into the ospitale multiple times. For the sake of yourself DO NOT TAKE she is evil! I am so depressed over this class and no matter what you do you will most likely fail or not get anywhere close to a decent grade. She ruined my life.
This class has been extremely test-heavy, which makes it hard to genuinely learn the material. The teaching style feels unsupportive and discouraging, and I often leave class more confused than when I arrived. Clearer guidance and more balanced assessments would help.
This class is overwhelmingly test-heavy, which makes it difficult to learn effectively. The teaching approach often feels unsupportive and leaves me confused after lessons. More clear instruction, better communication, and a balance of assessments would greatly improve the learning experience.
e class has been extremely test-heavy, and the timing of assessments has felt inconsiderate. When the teacher left for personal reasons and scheduled a major test immediately afterward, it made many of us feel unsupported and unprepared. A more balanced workload and greater consideration for students' learning needs are necessary
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! DO NOT TAKE!!!!
This 🌊unt is satan spawn! Do not take from her she's a lunatic. Amen
Yeah you're gonna fail 🤣
The class is very test-heavy, and some decisions—like assigning a major test right after being away—felt inconsiderate of students' needs. It's also discouraging when the teacher is on her phone during class, as it affects our ability to stay engaged. More support and consistency would greatly help.
The class is extremely test-heavy, and decisions like assigning a major test right after being away felt inconsiderate of students' needs. It's also discouraging when the teacher is on her phone during class. At times, the overall professionalism in the classroom did not feel appropriate, which affected the learning environment.
This class made me contemplate whether life was worth living.
I think she is a super caring professor, her lectures were very straightforward and easy to understand, and it was a simple class for the most part. The 3 exams make up 50% of your grade, but they're not very hard and she posts what to study (and that stuff is what's actually on the exam). As long as you go to class and study a bit it's pretty easy
Do yourself a favor and don't take her class. She's a nice individual, but her class is absolutely miserable. The homework is weighted next to nothing, so your grade depends on your exam grades. Her study resources are unhelpful, making the exams a struggle.
She doesn't seem to like teaching at all. Makes passive aggressive comments towards the class while teaching. When I have asked her questions before/after class she is a bit dismissive. Just not very personable which makes the class less enjoyable, but she provides decent study tools and opportunities to help your grade which helps.
dont take, awful class
Awful class, ruiend my life, DONT TAKE
DO NOT TAKE!!!!!! Absolutely tanked my GPA and i want to d!e.
Yup the reviews are true, don't take this class. She's an awful teacher!
I hope both sides of her pillow are warm and she steps on legos. News flash NO ONE LIKES YOU !
The teacher is a major 🌊unt!
This class is seriously the worst. Please do NOT take this class by all means whatver you may do. Withdraw if possible or just don't register for her. She is honestly a POS.
I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU ERIN MEYER! FBYOU
Only 4 test grades, if you do bad, YOU are fcked! Good luck 🤣
This class was terrible and is going to damage my GPA. She reads off slides and doesn't explain it to you in class. She expects you to study 1-2 hours a day and the practice tests are nothing like her tests. Homework is barely weighted so if you fail one test good luck, you better do good on the pop quizzes for one test replacement
Don't get me wrong, bio is hard, but if you can take it with anyone else, please do yourself that favor. There are 4 exams, which are worth 65% of your grade, so good luck. She just reads off of a PowerPoint, and exam practice is nothing like the real thing. You basically have to teach yourself everything. Moral of the story, don't take her class.
She isn't super bad but there are def better options. The reason I say she isn't good is because she goes through lectures super fast and it's hard to digest everything. Also the her exams are super specific. If you do get stuck with her I would just say get ready to study a lot.
I learned two things: Not everyone should be a bio major, and not every PHD in bio should be allowed to teach. Only get total participation if you answer correctly Tests are your whole grade, and they're never like the practice exams or reviews/quizzes Her class is more difficult than it needs to be, and other professors have better outcomes
Meyer is a fantastic teacher! Almost everyone I've talked to who have poor grades dont take notes in class dont read the textbook and only cram night before. BIO is not easy but if you procrastinate thats on you not her. ALSO REMEMBER the % of tests that contribute to your grade is the SAME in all BIO so don't let comments deceive you!!
Lectures are very heavy. Just material, never any different perspective on anything. Just reads off the slides.
Meyer is not bad nor good. There are easy weekly quizzes, 2 article analysis, and 3 exams (final is optional). Her class is boring because she reads off slides. She gets annoyed when a student asks a question during or after class. She provides practice test for the exams and extra credit that can boost 2% of your grade. Tophat required.
She reads off the slides but will go more in depth if you ask a question. She does pop quizzes that can make up for a bad test grade but the quizzes are impossible. They're on stuff we barely even touched on so good luck raising your exam grades. The exams are a bit easier but the first few I felt went in depth on things she barely mentioned.
She's nice, but this class is brutal. She just reads straight off the slides with almost no real explanation, and the four tests decide nearly your entire grade even though the exams feel ridiculously impossible. On top of that, she gives random pop quizzes that make the class even more stressful. It was so bad it made me change my major completely
Beyond Awful.
The lectures were boring and she just talked at you, reading off the slides which you have access to. So she never added anything that you couldn't read on your own
Dr. Meyer isn't BAD, but her lecture style is difficult to navigate through. Be prepared to go to SI (if available) and visit the STEM Lab. A lot of her lectures she's directly reading from the slides, but there is "important" information sprinkled. Exams make up most of your grade, yet they cover things outside of her lectures (sometimes!)
Drop this class immediately if you can. Professor was not good and did not prepare us at all for exams, left for weeks in the middle of the semester to get married and gave us an exam right after. Study guides did not reflect exams
She's a great professor, very sweet, you DEFINITELY have to put in the work but it's manageable. It's important you go to her office hours and she's always willing to help out. You just have to be prepared and really study and draw out the concepts. Best advice is go to class, go to drop in hours and study and you'll fine.
Meyer was extremely difficult. Compared to other professors who provided better makeup's for tests, she used pop quizzes which made replacement grades extremely difficult. The tests were worded to trick you and she wasn't much help as she left for personal reasons in the middle of the year. Do not take her, I am begging you.
