Ms. Miller is extremely passionate about teaching. I have never rated a professor on this website before. I had to brag about her! She does require quite a bit of work. It is college! She does everything she can to help her students. She even stayed after class to help me when she was really sick. I love her! I would take any class she teaches.
Probably the coolest teacher I've ever had. I don't care at all about history, but she makes it fun and interesting (sometimes.) Also, she made us cookies for no reason at all, and they were the best cookies ever.
Passionate abt teaching!does require a bit of reading.Easy A!Great Teacher!
I LOVE Erin Miller. She brings a new way about looking at History and makes it a useful topic by relating it to life today! I am going to try to take another class that she teaches!
Awesome professor - I highly recommend Erin. She does require quite a bit of writing (all tests etc. are essay form) but her grading scale is very liberal. Class attendance is important and she does count it as participation. Very passionate and knowledgeable, this is the first history class I have ever enjoyed!
Erin is pretty, smart, and a wonderful person. This class does require some work (it's college, people!), but every single day is enjoyable. She's easy to talk to and the best professor I have ever had. Take this class if you want a great experience with a wonderful person. Highly recommended. I have never heard a bad word about her from anybody.
She is big on class participation so if you're shy and quiet it might be more difficult but besides that she's a very engaging teacher and all we did were essays and easy ones at that. Great teacher, I would love to take her again!
She's extremely engaging and nice. She's willing to help if you need it.Participation and writing are very important to her. She has no MC exams; only writing assignments. 3 main writing assignments and 2 essays for the midterm. Extremely accessible; you can email or text her. Grades liberally and fairly. Also had her for 17b.
Her lectures are very interesting. She is big on participation during discussions and writing. No tests/exams. 3 writing assignments throughout the course and 2 essays for the midterm. If you have questions, you can text or email her; she replies very quickly. If you're lucky and have an active class, discussions are fun.
Erin Miller is a wonderful professor. She is so passionate about history. She is very understanding and easy to communicate with. If you do the reading, do the essays, and show up to class you will pass. I am currently in her 8am class and she will sometimes surprise us with doughnuts. You must participate and be active in the discussions!
I like History very much but this class was insanely easy to me. However you have to write 3 midterms which help with your writing skils and participate in class. If you do both of those you can't get anything lower than a B.
Erin is so passionate about History, which makes it interesting. You can tell she wants everyone to enjoy the class because she tries to find something in history that interests YOU. I never liked history before and I am now receiving an A in her class. I'm also enrolled in her 17A class next semester because THAT's how great of a professor she is!
Best professor I've ever had. Brilliant, passionate, sweet, caring, and she really pushes you to think outside the box. I'm so thankful Cal State or a UC hasn't stolen her away yet. Take her if you want to have fun, learn, and enjoy being in class! It's never dull. She's got a gift for teaching. Lovely!
She is by far the best teacher I have ever had. I'm so greatful to have had her as a teacher. If I wasn't pre med, I would change my major to history. She just has a knack for public speaking. She is so sweet. She truly cares about each and every one of her students. You won't regret taking this class. I am so greatful to have had her as a teacher.
Ms. Miller was absolutely wonderful. The class was fairly easy, wrote a couple of essays and had to do an oral presentation for the final. Even if you don't understand something, she is really great about helping and keeping her office hours open. Definitely recommend.
Best professor EVER! She will bend over backwards to help you succeed. The class is lively and entertaining, she is brilliant and sweet. I'm a History major just about to transfer- I wish that she could go with me and teach ALL of my classes. Don't be scared off by the syllabus! You will love all the unconventional stuff in her class.
Erin is an amazing teacher! You can really see her passion in what she teaches, and it's really easy to get involved and excited about the class. Very interactive, never a boring moment. It seems like there's a lot of work to do, but the lecture and a little reading will go a long way! Have opinions and think for yourself, and you'll be fine.
She's the best History Teacher Ever. I don't like History at all. It has always bored me. But she just makes it very fun and interesting. Ya'll should take her. She's great.!!:)
I Looooved this class!! Professor Miller is extremely helpful and she cares about her students. She's funny and you can tell she is passionate about what she does. She drops your lowest midterm score which is awesome! And lets you use notes! I'm majoring in History so I've had quite a few history professors and she is definitely my favorite.
Ms. Miller is absolutely wonderful. She is so sweet and passionate about what she teaches. She uses a wide variety of teaching techniques, it shows she cares about her students. Ms. Miller even made my class cookies and bought us pizza : ) Best teacher ever...take her class if you can. If you do your hw, you will do great.
I was bored out of my mind for 3/4 of the semester but the class is an easy A
Easy as long as you follow along. She's very helpful and will be happy to help out on any essays or midterms. Really really good teacher and easy class.
I tried as much as I can to avoid history. I knew that I was going to fail I was never good with dates and years but I came on this website to find some good teachers that maybe I’ll have chance of passing. Ms. Miller is the best! She brings the history to life. She is so easy! Thank you Mrs. miller you’re the reason why I’m graduating on time now.
she is one of the caring prof. i ever had in my life. if you come to her class and follow her lecture, you will get 100% on your class. she loves her student and do her best to help them out. she offer 15% excredit and she take late assignments if you talk to her in person. she'll help her best to improve your grade and give you everything you need
One of my favorite teachers I have ever had. She is very caring and passionate for her students and teaching. She wants you to succeed and will do anything she can to help you. She loves history and makes it interesting by the way she gets so in to it. Would recommend her to everyone.
She is such a sweet heart. Her class is very fun, but she does overload the work. There are 3 essays... and a 12 page journal along with a seperate two page essay due at the same time. Be prepared to work your booty off.
Amazing teacher. This class is not purely lecture mainly discussions, but when she does lecture you can tell she is passionate. Even if you hate history she makes you get into it. Highly recommend her although you will have to work your butt off.
One of the greatest prof of all time
She is awesome! One of the most caring teachers I have ever had. She really cares about each student as individuals. She is amazing at teaching and has quite the passion for it. It is a lot of reading and a bit of work, but she will work with you if you are having trouble. If you can get her do it!
Professor Miller is THE most caring person ever! She really is passionate about teaching history, and wants to see her students succeed. She goes above and beyond to make it fun and interesting. I would highly recommend taking her :)
Lots of reading & a quiz every week. Get to use notes on the tests/exams. Lots of extra credit & chances to improve your grade. She's very passionate - makes history come alive. She loves what she does & loves each of her students, encouraging them to do their best!. Easy if you stay proactive in studying & reviewing what u learned. Glad I took her
She is very sweet. I appreciate her very much especially after everything she been through to become the successful women she is right now. I know I only had her as a teacher but very few can relate to her life. Passionate with her history. Even after not finishing everything you can still try and turn things in before the final grade is posted.
One of my favorite teachers Is Erin Miller. If you don't pass her class its entirely your fault. Or like she says it's because "you now realize what you need to do in order to succeed." When she teaches, you can see the love she has for her job and her inspiration from history. She will help you if needed and will attempt to help you succeed.
Well it only let me choose 3 tags. She's also respected by students, INSPIRATIONAL with a capital I! Extra credit chances are plentiful, she's freaking hilarious and makes you WANT to be there! She's so energetic and into what she's teaching. She's there for you if you just let her know what's going on. She believes in success not failure.
Erin Miller is the best professor I've ever had!! She really knows her material and is very dedicated. She teaches with a passion and is always willing to help out students with any questions. Very much recommend her. There's plenty of work and discussions but it together helps the students understand the subject. If you understand it, you will pas
Miller is the best professor I've ever had for History. I don't typically do well in this subject because of lack of interest, but Miller is so passionate about it that it was so easy to learn and obtain. She cares so much about her students success. Online quizzes every week. 3 midterms. Her lectures are great, but fast pace, so take good notes.
She is seriously so awesome, best teacher I have had by far at BC. She helps you on whatever questions you have and provides great feedback for assignments. Every time I had a problem she would literally reply within 5 minutes and happy to help! GREAT teacher I would really recommend her to anyone wanting to take History.
Erin is such a nice sweet cool professor. I personally don't like history but she made it fun and interesting. I learned a lot in her class and the workload. Wasn't hard and office hours help a lot. I'd take her class again in a heartbeat.
Erin is fantastic. She cares about her students like a mother and gives plenty of extra credit opportunity. If you fail, it's your fault because she's willing to work with you and gives a lot of extra credit. There is a lot of homework though, but it's not too hard.
Erin is the BOMB of all history professors. She makes you feel like you were living in the time. Extremely compationate about history, and shows thru her lectures. Not an 'easy' class, but very rewarding. If you need a history class, she is definitely the one to take it with. Got a C in the class, but my own fault. Would definitely take again!
Best Teacher ever She really works for your grade
Professor Miller is amazing! She is always there for her students, office hours, email and text messaging. Always, always gets back to you. She strives to help students pass the class. So much extra credit opportunities its insane. However, its not 'easy' class, there is lots of homework, but not hard so don't fall behind on it!
Shes a great teacher, always answers emails and fairly easy to contact. Tons of extra credit but also tons of homework that i would consider busy work. Sometimes i feel like we stay on one subject matter too long and over kill it to where im confused at the end of discussion but overall, not a horrible teacher if youre willing to do the work
she's extremely helpful. you can email or text her if you have any questions. there's a lot of homework for this class it's all online as well as the "book". i find myself only doing some of the homework because it's so much, but she gives tons of extra credit so you'll be able to get the points back.
Ms. Miller is absolutely wonderful. She's bright and caring and inquisitive; however, there's a ton of online homework that more often than not I'd forget to do. Very involved classes. At the end of a lecture, summarize, share your answer w/ someone close then aloud to the class. Group work. Overall a wonderful teacher though. Tons of extra credit.
Very chipper and is interested in what you have to say. Cares about your learning and is there when you need help. Lectures are all class but are clear and very descriptive. Test and quizzes are all online except for mid term and final when you have to write an essay.
I honestly never did any of the quizzes online, homework or reading, only the papers, test, and debates. I've taken her for 3 classes and either received a C or B. if you want to get an A obviously do the quizzes. she gives A LOT of extra credit take advantage of it!
there is no reason you should not pass this class honestly.
This is the nicest professor i have taken at Bakersfield College. She cares about her students so much, that she opens her online assignments weeks after she closes them, all you need is to talk to her and will help you with the problems you are facing.
She is very caring and wants you to succeed! I originally took her on campus class but didn't much like it because she spoke of many debates and presentations where you would have to pretend you were a historical figure and argue with a fellow student. This didn't appeal to me. Other than that her online course is awesome and she frequently checks on you and reopens when you give reason!
She's so nice and kind and I can tell she's very passionate about the subject. The only thing I would like her to change is what she includes in her power points. Midterm study guide is very vague She lectures all of class, often times including information that you wont even need to know for a test. Wouldn't recommend unless you're an env. major
Hands down the best. Out of my 50 units she's the best professor I've had. She loves what she teaches and always makes sure to show it. She's knows her stuff and makes learning it fun and interesting. If you enjoy education, sit back and let her take you back in time. Requires some work, but you'll learn. Not the the easiest but not the toughest.
Professor Miller is an easy grader and gives amazing feed back. If you do not understand History you will in her class. I enjoyed her class and do not like History, but she made it very clear and easy. Do all your work and you will pass with an easy A.
Erin Miller she really cares about every single students she encounters. She is an amazing teacher. She is always trying to lend a helping hand to any one who seeks her help. She genuinely cares about the students at Bakersfield College.I to totally recommend her. Mrs. Miller if you ever read this you are amazing person.
Professor Miller is such a great. Be sure to pay attention to the lectures and do the work online. she has plenty of extra credit work if you are falling behind.
This semester with Professor Miller was great, she truly cares about the students. The class is easy, but at least try in the class. The homework is online but it's not difficult. If you're looking for a History 17a class, this is the class.
She is very attentive. If you need any help, she is there for you. She's gives helpful feedback.
Erin Miller is by far the best professor I've had. BC is lucky to have her, she belongs at a university or heading up a social justice cause! She cares so much about her students and is always available to help!
Professor Miller is one of the most inspirational professors at BC. Her lectures come together to paint a story, and discussion is open to many different ideas. She helped me to understand non-religious logic behind conservative values; because of this I am now more politically moderate. She is a truly good person who desires the best for students.
Professor Miller is one of the best professors at Bakersfield college. Do not believe any of the negative ratings, they had to TRY and fail. I am one of the most lazy students and still got an A, all of the online work is easy and she cares about her students, if you're looking for an easy class, take hers.
I have had the pleasure to have taken Professor Miller in two different occasions, and surprisingly enough she remembered my name within the first couple of weeks of class the first time around. She is the best professor at BC hands down. Her grading is straight forward and if you need help, she is there through text, email, and office hours!
Ms. Miller was a great professor, I definitely recommend her for any history class. She is so passionate and inspiring, plus she cares about her students immensely. Homework is easy, just a lot of online busy work, but it is useful.
You can tell she cares about students. That said, she goes way too easy on her class to the point of babying it. If you're looking for an easy A, this is the class. There's a lot of busy work, though. Leans conservative but open to everyone's ideas and thoughts. Class itself is decent. Couple of class debates which are cool. So much extra credit.
Miller is such a caring professor, She literally goes above and beyond for her students. It's easy just do all your assignments and you'll pass I didn't do the online homework and that's why I earned a C
Will fail you with a smile on her face. Her work is tidious, boring and discussion forums are a major part of your grade but the topics are long articles that are uninteresting. The first couple weeks are easy then she brings down the hammer. She pretend to be nice and understanding but its an act.
Professor Miller's US hist class taught me so much and her passion for the subject made it very interesting. She's very flexible and genuinely cares for her students and wants to help them in any way. We did in class debates, lots of online reading and quizzes, online midterm and final tests, and in class midterm and final essays. Great class.
I loved her womens history class. Alot of online quizzes. All the work is done online which is good if you cant make to class everyday. But you should go to class everyday because the in class material is not in the textbook. Exams are oral exams which are WAY less scary than they sound. Flexible with due dates
Took her history class online, super easy! A lot of reading involved and discussion participation is a must if you want to avoid doing a research paper. Make sure you jump on all the easy extra credit she offers and you will pass with an A !
She is a very sweet person and she's there if you need any help but she was a mess which made the class very difficult. Her lectures were not very detailed and messy, I would have to record the lectures because I wouldn't get anything from them the first time. I would not take her again but she does offer a lot of extra credit.
LOVED Professor Miller!! Considered her an easy A, because shes a great teacher. Lectures and discussions are a little loosey goosey at times, but all in good fun. She is also incredibly understanding, always wants to work with you on how to help you pass and extensions. She has a way about her that makes her so respected. Would take again!! :)
She was really nice and easy to get along with. The class may seem difficult and overwhelming at first but it is not as hard as it seems. She does check attendance every class. She lectures a lot so attendance is important. Overall I enjoyed her class. and she also buys pizza for her classes.
She is an amazing professor and person altogether. She works hard to make sure everyone gets a fighting chance to boost their grades up by giving many extra credit opportunities and truly cares about everyone. Her lectures are very interesting and engaging so be ready to participate! The homework may seem scary at first but it is actually easy.
Prof. Miller is kind, accessible, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. She's big on particip. and discussion. Her own views seem to lean conservative and at times sound like Fox News/Breitbart talking points. In the context of a woman's history class that was demoralizing for me at times. But she welcomes debate, so come ready and speak up.
I strongly recommend professor Miller for any history class. She offers a beneficial perceptive of history and it's clear she care for her students. Make sure to participate in lecture and debate & you'll have a good time in her class. Her homework isn't difficult I strongly recommend can be overwhelming if you don't organize your time according.
Professor Miller got my life back on track. She is one of the most influential and inspirational teachers I've ever had that actually cares about you as a person and wants to see you succeed! I was ready to drop out but her checking in with me throughout the semester was the most helpful thing in my life. Communicate with her! It's worth it.
I loved professor Miller! Even though she gives a lot of busy work I thought her lectures were very interesting and she know how to make a clear description of things. She is extremely lenient and will do everything to get you to pass. Lots of online work too.
She constantly communicates with the class and makes sure you have a good understanding. And the amount of work is very decent.
Professor Erin Miller has raised the bar of my expectations for college professors. She genuinely wants you to succeed and will do all that she can to support you and help you. She has encouraged me and pushed me to be the best student I can be. I admire and look up to her. She does require a lot of work, but it's worth it.
Professor Miller is a great teacher. Shes very passionate about what she teaches and she gives great feedback on your assignments. I highly recommend taking professor Miller for intro to women history in America.
Professor Miller is a fantastic professor! She truly cares about her students. I would gladly take any class she was teaching. Bakersfield College and the students are very blessed to have her .
My first online class. Every Wednesday a discussion was due. After doing the discussion which would involve reading an article and reflecting on the text. You would then give feedback to other classmates discussion which on every Sunday the feedback for the discussion were due. As well as the quiz for the chapter in the textbook and the inquizive.
Great professor! It seemed like her class was too easy at times. Do your work, show up, and participate a little bit, and you'll pass with flying colors. She's also a really nice person that genuinely cares about her students. I highly recommend her as a professor
She is a super caring teacher & be prepared for a lot of work especially the workbooks. She assigns a lot of work but you can wait until the end of the semester and still pass. Mid term and Final exam are oral and you also have to do a paper.
I barely read the book and was late entering the class, and she gave me many extensions to finish assignments. She's a slow grader but still gives good feedback and has it where if you simply do the work and don't slack off much at all, you're guaranteed an A.
She is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Really cares about her students and is very understanding. You can tell she wants her students to succeed. I missed class a couple times and as long as you explain why she is okay. I totally recommend her.
Definitely the easiest college professor I've ever taken. Im not sure if her oncampus class is similar but the online class is so easy! Theres an online book that cost $25 and the assignments are super easy maybe 3 a week. However she never graded anything until last couple weeks of semester so if slow graders bothers you I wouldn't recommend her.
Really sweet professor. She is very interactive and loves when students have things to say. There is both classwork and online work. It's a lot of work and she also was slow to grade everything, but it gave you more time to do it. She tends to go fast on her lectures but doesn't hesitate to go over it again if you ask.
Mrs. Miller is well respected by her students. Her class is a heavy lecture base but if you pay attention you'll pass her class. She also very fair and understanding. She's funny and her lectures are never boring. She is very passionate about making an impact on her students.
She is really nice and caring professor. Her class is really easy as long as you do the homework and participate in class, and I didnt even participate but that's why I got a B. Her grading can be late and very confusing but almost impossible to fail. One of the coolest professors you'll have at BC.
Dr. Miller is not only an amazing professor, she is an amazing human. The workload is a bit heavy but she allows plenty of time to complete the assignments and tons of opportunities for extra credit. Im not a strong writer so my essays were very short. However I was still able to pull a B
Very warm hearted and caring! Super considerate and very entertaining.
She is a sweet person and very generous when grading. My problem is that she is very disorganized. Due dates will change often, so it was difficult to get my head around the class. She's great if you don't mind assignments being up in the air.
Professor Miller is very passionate about history. I'm taking her online course now and while there is a bit of work, it's manageable as long as you read. I'm not sure of my final grade but as of now, I have a "B". Two weeks left in the course and one final reflection paper left!!
Mrs. Miller is a caring Professor. I am glad I took her for Women's History (HISTB25). I suggest for students to stay current on homework assignments. I'm passing the class but I regret not turning in a couple of assignments. She gives plenty of opportunities for students to pass her class! Very Caring!
Professor Miller delivered! I enjoyed the lectures. Made me appreciate women. Enjoyable experience.
Her lectures are really interesting, tries to get everyone involved, and grades papers on time.
Professor Miller is probably one of the best professors I have had while attending Bakersfield College. She provides great feedback on your work and is always quick to respond if you have any questions. She is understanding that many students have other responsibilities besides school, and will do her best to accommodate any major life event.
I had her for an online class. It was a good chunk of work, but she is such a caring teacher. She always gives feedback on everything and shows she really cares about making helping better her students. She gave me extra credit on discussions just because she liked how well I did. Shes an awesome teacher! Just do the reading!
I've taken Professor Miller twice already and she is one of the nicest and easiest professors you'll meet. Gives a lot of extra credit. I haven't needed to use my book once for both of her classes that I have taken. She gives you the study guide for the test so you see the answers beforehand, she doesn't change them.
One of the easiest and best teachers I have taken at BC so far. You don't even need to show up to class and she has a clear syllabus and outline of how the class should be ran. Easy A with a lot of extra credit.
This class was a lot of work and required to read the book and to keep on schedule. Professor Miller was very nice and kept due dates open till the end, my only problem with the class was that she graded everything last minute so I had to keep checking my grade to see if I got an A. You have to earn the A and she is a very good teacher.
Professor Miller was so great. I wish I could take this class again, I learned so much and I'll never forget it. Thank you for everything!!!
Took this online over the summer, and it was a great class. There's some homework, but she's a very generous grader on those. You have 20 question quizzes with 25 min to answer, and 3 attempts. Questions don't stay the same. 1 research paper. She was very understanding about my busy schedule, and even checked in if I had a big assignment missing.
P. Miller is so sweet! But the way she teaches is so hard to Understand. Idk if she was just having a really bad semester, but it was hectic. She tells students to practice active listening because she hated to have to repeat herself when students asked questions. Yet, she talks so fast to the point where she cant catch her breathe.
Caring professor that tries her best to help you understand the concepts.. I used her office hours to get better at her essay parts of her exams and she was extremely helpful. Book isn't as important as attending class and studying lecture notes. I recommend her.
She is the sweetest most kindest professor. She is very fun with the lecture and debates and loves it when students participate. She gives you extra time when needed and is very caring to all of her students.
She is such a kind soul and amazing person. Always willing to help with any questions and accessible outside of class. Take advantage of her office hours, heck I still go see her even though I finished her class already, she's that good. We need more professors like her.
Shes incredibly educated and knows what shes teaching like the back of her hand. However we spent the first 9 weeks on 1 unit! we were so behind that to make it up we did 5 chapters in 1 week. That means reading 5 chapters doing 5 quizzes and listening to 9 hours of lectures outside of class. Do not take if you want a life outside of class. awful
SO MUCH READING. 1 primary source quiz every week. 1 inquisitive every week. Discussion almost every week. Sometimes all of that plus an inquizitive on 3 chapters AND a 75 question exam. Its a lot of work. And she did not even grade the first-week assignment until the 11th week. Pushed our paper back a month because she grades so slow.
Very very disorganized. Basically taught myself for most of the class. Quizzed on things that weren't covered in class. We were her "experiment" class in terms of structure. Very slow at grading. Take this class if you don't mind teaching yourself. Don't take this class if you need actual help with History
Shes a great teacher. She gives great feedback I enjoyed her class she is an easy A
Super great at understanding student have busy lives too. She accepts late work and gives amazing feedback and information where we can find the help to write better papers. She is slow on grading but will extend papers until she is able to provide feedback from previous papers. Lots of quizzes but its expected for an online class. Id recommend.
Erin was always super explanatory and offered study guides and practice quizes, she also gives you 2 chances on tests and picks the higher grade. She is always offering extra credit and give solid feedback. She is very encouraging and there to help. Some times extends deadlines and always reaches out. One of the best.
Professor Erin Miller was a fair teacher. There is writing and posting involved. Extra is always a plus. She gives great feedback. Get the book and accesss code, it helps. You can work ahead if you stay organized and get your work done on time. I really enjoyed this class.
Miller is an average professor. She is extremely caring, but her class is so busy. There are so many assignments and the lectures were all over the place. She did not use lecture slides, she just lectured off the top of her head. Before we transitioned to online, she talked about the same thing for like 5 class periods. Really unorganized.
she is a good person who gives tons of extra credit but has a lot of assignments. you will be able to pass if you also put effort.
Professor Miller makes her positions on certain subjects very clear, but values your positions too. I learned a lot of valuable info in her class and she's an excellent professor. She strongly encourages independent thinking, so if you're planning on taking her class, think for yourself! It'll pay off.
Professor Miller is really great ! She requires writing discussions from the book so youll be reading a lot but its very easy and quizzes are very easy ! Do the work and youll pass read the book and youll pass ! She gives a lot of extra credit ! Responds to emails !
Prof. Miller really makes you work for that A. Though there is a lot of work, Prof. Miller is very kind and caring and really wants her students to retain the knowledge from her class.
Shes a great professor just do your work and it will be a piece of cake.
She gives a lot of work and does not grade. We half way through October and I dont know my grade. Prepare to do a lot of reading. Pro: she gives a lot of extra credit.
Makes lectures fun.
Professor Miller responds to emails in a timely manner. She gives good feedback on questions and gives out extra credit. However, she was a VERY slow grader. It is the last week of class and there are assignments dating back from the first couple of weeks that still need to be graded. The issue is I do not know what my grade will be.
Super helpful professor. The class is interesting but requires participation and dedication. She provides multiple opportunitys for extra credit throughout the semester and can be flexible with deadlines. I would definitely recommend taking this class with Professor Miller.
I took her fall 2020 online flexible. She was nice and a great professor. The assignments werent too bad. But there was a lot of reading. She was also a very slow grader. I definitely learned a lot from her class and highly recommend her.
I started taking this professor due the reviews being so good. Taking her online class along with 2 other classes has been a challenge all by its self her constant getting a 25pg chapter done in a week along with a quiz that had nothin to do with the reading, a timeline for that chapter, surprises and an online test. Slow grader. Do not recommend
By far the best history class I had wants everybody to succeed as long as you do your work youll pass the class .
literally dont know my grade, she hasnt put anything in, easy work but that would be nice to know lol, feels like busy work but also an easy A (hopefully), lots of extra credit opportunities
Great professor I dont really like history but she mad history fun .
Professor Miller did a pretty good job at articulating her expectations. You will need to read in order to complete the quizzes & assignments. Some of the assignments were not commensurate with the number of points vs. the amount of work you needed to do. I opted to not complete a few things & still managed an A. She takes a while to grade things.
Work 5+ hours a week to even try to get an A? Each week: Read the textbook chapter, take a quiz on the chapter, submit 2 different mini-essays, participate in the discussion post, plus another quiz after reading required historical documents. Mid-term essay on 1984 for some reason, final research paper, and 3 separate exams on textbook material.
Professor Miller wants us to interpret events as whether or not they helped us become a freer people. There are five activities each week, a computer program that helps you study the material, a surprise from the reading post and response, a reflection essay (short), a timeline and a primary source quiz.
She gives out SO much work. Yes, most of it is simple but it's absolutely overwhelming the volume of work she assigns. The readings alone are ridiculous, two weekly quizzes, plus discussions that you have to also respond to. Finals week- you're taking the final, two quizzes and a paper is due. Avoid at all costs unless you want to drown in work!
I took this as a late start course for the Spring 2022 semester. Professor Miller is nice but online classes just aren't meant for me. She does assign a lot of work for an 8-week course which can be a bit overwhelming for a full time student which was my circumstance, I ended up biting off more than I could chew.
This was by far my favorite class. Professor Miller is extremely responsive, caring, and encouraging. Heavy reading, inquizzitve tests, primary source quizzes and two discussion posts/responses weekly. 1 book to read, with a report and a research paper at the end of the term. Be prepared to work and keep to due dates and you will be fine.
She gives too much busy work she has like 5 assignments every week but she wants you to do a lot of writing. She requires you read a book and write a paper on it. Then she also requires a 5-7 page research paper. Got a B in the class but if I had known there were papers involved I wouldve never taken this class
This was the best professor l have ever had at BC. She was extremely caring and understanding. She is willing to work with you on every assignment through out the semester and able to meet whenever you need to. As well as answering emails very fast. If you have the chance, take her class, she's a great person. You will not regret it.
Even though I took her class online I could see that she cared about us and our grades. If you ever need help ask her. She gives good feedback when grading and might even ask if your in need of help if she sees you falling behind. I believe she lost her dogs and had family issues during the last month of school but she still reached out nonetheless
Each week you will read a chapter, post surprises, complete inquizative (computer adaptive content), write a reflective essay on provided materials and a timeline of events, seen from a liberty/anti-liberty Lense. Two 5-7page essays, on the book 1984 and one of choice for many questions. Three exams.
This class is amazing! 5 assignments per week. She is very caring and gives lots of extra credit. However, she is a very slow grader. I took this class in the summer and it's the last week yet she hasn't graded work from week 1. Despite this, I know that I was going to get an A so I was not worried. Definitely an easy A!
You have to do a couple of papers but are very understanding. Took me a week to get used to the class.
The class is a LOT of busy work for not much to show for it. While the idea behind the busy work is admirable, the results are less than desirable. Instructions are often unclear, especially on her timeline assignment. Get ready to read a LOT. Also, while claiming not to, Professor Miller wears her political biases on her sleeve quite prominently.
Stunny and wonderful professor. Always open to discussion regardless of viewpoint. Teaches fairly and is willing to help wherever one may need it. She also makes an amazing effort to help and reward her classes for putting in effort. Easily one of the best Professors on campus. Just do your work, read, and pay attention.
Professor Miller really cares. Responds to all e-mails. Gives you the benefit of the doubt on tests. However, if you take this test online, there is a lot to sift through. If you are familiar with Canvas, you will be ok, if this is your first year, it is gonna be tough to sift through all here material on canvas to find what you need.
I know that some professors require a lot of work and she is one of them. She is a fantastic professor and you will learn a lot.
Great history class. Expect to do your work. She is clear and to the point on how to pass her class, put in the effort and it is easy to get an A. She is a great professor.
If you're looking for a professor for a History summer course-- I would not recommend Professor Miller-- Or Professor Stratton! I've taken both of them for history courses and they are extremely assignment heavy for only 4 weeks. Her writing assignments require a lot- especially the timeline. I wouldn't recommend her SUMMER COURSES.
Yikes. Well im stuck here now, might as well warn all of you. If you know basic ethics and care about human equality / rights do not take this class. Professor has some concerning views. also BIG red flag, This class uses Norton Inquizitive. just look it up on google and check the rant posts. This system is broken and infuriating. avoid if u can
Way too many papers for it being a GEN ED class and a HISTORY class. I used inquizitive, which was really easy, boring, and took forever. Don't get me wrong, she is a nice teacher. I just felt like the class should have been easier. With the huge timed tests and the 5-7 page papers, I didn't really enjoy it.
She was a good professor and gave clear feedback on exams or papers written. I will say she does give a ton of information that is helpful but it is all over the place. She is very lenient however and does reach out to her students if they need help. Just be prepared to read a lot and participate in activities.
Professor Miller is a great person; however, she misses class a lot. Often times she will say we are behind; this is because half the time she doesn't show up.
Professor Miller is a caring instructor who makes an effort to help students succeed. While the workload is heavy, using resources like Unstuck study can make managing the course more manageable.
Professor Miller is very sweet and is a huge giver. Be prepared for lots of writing though weekly analysis due, and the exams you must know the material as short answer responses are required and an essay must be written on 3 exams. Seems to be an easy grader and lenient but you must give it effort and know the material or you wont do good on tests
Professor Miller is super accommodating.I've taken B9 twice failed and both times but she would always reach out to encourage me to turn work in. Lots of papers but the books are interesting, I was confused but once I actually tried to do the work it was easy but tedious. If I take this class a 3rd time I would do so in person but she's great.
Would take again, A lot of reading though. We had 3 essays that were pretty easy. I would say I had to work hard to get an A. There was a lot of assignments and had to do extra credit. Not a tough grader though.
Awesome prof. but very work heavy. She is very understanding and wants students to pass, she grades fairly and provides feedback. A LOT!!!! of reading as well, probably the hardest class I have taken but it is doable but it lowkey consumed my days.
She had a severe medical emergency in the 2nd week of the semester, but she was very accessible during the rest of the semester online. Her homework does take a minute to get used to, but i wouldn't say it is difficult. I'm honestly glad we didn't take it in person because the tests originally looked much harder, but she changed it due to the shift
Each week, there is a history reading with questions that you are guaranteed to get 100 percent on. There is also essay building where you must choose two courses out of a list and finish a chart about each (five questions), and write a paragraph for each. Sounds simple, but wayyyyyyy too much work for an online course. Only 10/15 are required.
A lot of reading but not too bad once in the flow of things, plenty of time to do work as well.
The assignments she gave were too complicated for me. While she did provide directions to the assignment they were difficult to follow. I wouldn't recommend taking her class unless you're really up for the challenge.
There's lots of work in this class. Lectures are fast, she goes off into talks about things not going on in the class. Hard to keep up with
I personally loved Ms. Miller, she talks a lot so be prepared to keep up, but she is very understanding and the homework is easy. I would easily take her again, I miss this class. Highly recommend.
Dr. Miller is very kind and helpful. There are many assignments, but they aren't hard. My only complaint is the lack of feedback and prompt grades. We're three weeks away from the semester ending, and there are tests and essays from months ago that haven't been graded.
Such a good professor!! Weekly readings are long and the assignments can take a while. Instructions are very clear and she is excellent at responding to emails and answering questions. Gives great feedback. You can tell she is passionate about what she teaches and wishes for her students to succeed. Absolutely recommend!
