Nice Teacher.. class isn't very easy.

I took her twice because I enjoyed her so much the first time. She makes you do the work but it is doable and she teaches very well.

She is very understanding, but cares about attendance. She gives out a couple of worksheets so that the research paper isn't too long and she grades fairly. If you are good in this subject, take her!

Wonderful teacher. She's nice, and is very involved in her classes, and as long as you do the work (the work being not too terribly difficult), you're in the clear.

Good professor. A lot of handouts to keep but as long as you show up, do the work, you are good. Research paper was not fun but when are they? Would take a class she taught again.

I have taken many telecourses at Valencia and Mrs. O'Brien is without a doubt the most clear, organized and streamlined teacher yet. Her course is not easy but simply requires the usual amount of effort in a college course. I enjoyed her course.

One of my best professors. Readings are somewhat boring, but are discussed in class and via WebCT. Essays are easy, but she grades hard. If you pay attention and do your best you will get a good grade. Teacher is not strict and friendly.

Very nice teacher. Class can be boring. I felt that she was very helpful, and taught me more than my friends teacher taught her. Just make sure you do all the assignments and keep up on the writing journals, they'll catch up to you. I would recommend.

Professor O'Brien is a great teacher. I am horrible at English, yet I understood what she was saying and ended up learning so much from her class. I highly recommend her if you want to actually learn something.

Had her for Comp 1. LOVED her! Lots of hand-outs but all are very helpful when it comes to writing your papers. She's so relaxed and un-intimidating... I would reccomend her to anyone... especially those who like writing. Couldn't take her for comp 2 though : ( didn't fit into my schedule. A++ : )

She is a fair grader and gives great feedback, 4 essays, a couple of webct postings, and a final paper. Alot of reading ( no real need to watch TV course), no real " homework".. I am a decent writer and finished with an A

umm can we say anorexic? but she is a very sweet lady and always willing to help. Fair grader, but when my sister was in the hospital in a comma from massive seizures she took off 70 points from one assignment for being less than a week late. ended up getting a B b/c of it. o well.

I have Professor O'Brien for Freshman Comp. I and I think she's a great teacher. She does give a lot of busy work, but overall I enjoy her class.

She's great in just about every area. Mostly the fact that she will help potential writers get jobs and do well in their advancing careers whether you ask for help or not. I think she cares about her students. She can be picky at times, but will do her best to make sure you understand the material.

I took this class via telecourse and I really enjoyed it. The work was explained thoroughly and she graded fairly. She told you what she expected and was ALWAYS willing to help.

Very good teacher! I loved the mock trial experience during Spring 05 session just not the jury! She expects a certain quality from her students on the research paper, but the essays that lead up to it helps you reach the expectancy level.

Very nice and easy to talk to. I had her for the telecourse and she gives more than enough resources and assistance. Recommended.

O'Brien is the pickiest English professor I have ever taken! If I thought my grade was a C, she gave me an A, and visa versa. I came out with a B in the class, but not because she was clear about what she wanted. She is very tough! I would not recommend taking her as a telecourse!

Excellent teacher! It's not an EASY A.. but it's not that bad.. A's are possible. She clearly states what it takes at the beginning of the semester to pass.. all you have to do is do it!! She's funny, sarcastic, entertaining, and incredibly smart (at least in English and Literature.. lol) Well worth taking the class.. Welcome to college!

Obrien is mad cool! She is an excellent professor she is picky on the first essay but her class is an easy A or B! If you are not that brilliant in english I would highly suggest that you take her. Obrien is the best at what she does and is very generous in her grading. HIGHLY Recommend her!

Great teacher. She is willing to help you anytime. You do have a lot of writing but it is easy once you get started. She has great notes to help you become better at writing papers.

I think everyone got either an A or B. Go to class everyday, and you will be happy that you did in the end when it comes to your grade! Speak to her outside of class bc that shows her u care. I think she has favorites but i don't care i got an A. 3 in class essays and a decent amt of outside writing(c'mon ur in college). Fair grading(at least 4 me)

She follows standard grammar and spelling standards when grading - so her grading scale is no harder than any other teacher. She is big on attendance and tardiness. She is very smart and knowledgeable and does her best to help you and keep you updated about what is happening in class.

she is really cool but huge on attendance. She likes to be sarcastic so dont get offended but she made the class fun and he in class essays are not that hard.

Took her online course. Very helpful. Class is challenging but not an overload. I would defiantly take her again. Gives good/useful feed back and is clear on what she wants. Friendly too!

I took her online class, and it was very easy. Only one research paper and a few other 500 word essays, all very easy. She's very helpful when you have questions.

I took Professor O'Brien's online course. She was very fair, I think she graded easy.Things I thought I bombed I got an A on. Would definitely reccommend to take!!!Turn things in on time no Problem!!

Some of these comments aren't even true unless she has changed her teaching style. Professor Obrien is hard on grading papers but they barely affect your overall grade because she has so many other activities and class discussions which really boost your grade. Take her!!!!

Easy easy teacher, great stories, fun and very understanding. Shes alittle too easy on the grading, so shes hands out easy A's. Not to much to do, big research paper though. Overall, I would recommend her

You have a lot of essays to write and stories to read. She's a tough grader on the essays but fair. I really enjoyed the class!

Expect to write several esays throughout the semester. If you want to pass this class, take advantage of the help offered! The papers are a large part of your grade. Homework is ridiculously easy, but the essays must be taken seriously. Getting an A in her class is not difficult, so long as one works on his/her essays! Don't be intimidated by her:)

Comp 1: She's not bad. She gets a little moody sometimes and she likes to think she is funnier than she really is, but you can learn a lot from her. She seems a little scary at first, but you get used to it. Laugh at her jokes, show up early and do the papers. You will get a pretty easy A.

Prof. O'Brien is a fun professor, she makes class interesting with group work. She's pretty funny as well. A bit of a tough grader, but try on her essays and participate in class and you'll be fine, absolutely nothing to be scared about. I recommend her completely.

Really liked her hybrid class. She posts grades really quick online so you always know your grade, the online portion was so EASY- but- she is a really tough grader on essays. Writting is my strong point and I got high C's on my essays. I learned alot about grammer. Be prepared to work! but i would take her again.

Highly recommend this professor. I haven't taken an english class in almost 20 yrs, but she was very helpful. Posts grades really quickly and gives great feedback. If you just ask her she will direct you to where to go for whatever you need. Took the class online and would take her again if I could!

She's knows her stuff and expect you to show up and be there. Period. Put on your big girl panties and enjoy the class. Guys, wear whatever makes you "man up" as she will hold you accountable.

One of the best professors I've ever had! She really has a passion for English and literature and expresses it through her teaching. She has a great personality and keeps you laughing. Lots of group work pretty easy as long as you keep up with your work. Def recommend her!

Excellent professor who is very engaged with her students and invested in the course. I took this British literature course online, and was so grateful to have such an enthusiastic professor. Her assignments were great critical thinking challenges. Prof. O'Brien also gives you individual feedback that is encouraging and helpful. Two thumbs up!

Tons of reading and analyzing works. If you read the stories and have a clear understanding of them (or just do some extra research) the class is easy to pass. The final exam is a course evaluation so just keep up with the due dates for assignments.

LOVED this class. English is my worst subject but I really enjoyed her class. Yes, she does assign readings, but they are very interesting and doesn't feel overwhelming. I really recommend this class for freshman students. 3 essays total, the last one is part of her final exam.... easy work for a college level english class. VERY helpful teacher.

She is a very tough grader. in high school i would get A's on my essays and I got C's. She tries to be funny so just laugh. She grades very fast! She cancels class sometimes but she is there for you!

She graded kind of harshly on essays and you don't really even need the seagull book except for one assignment so it would be more beneficial to just snap a picture of the pages you need. She is good at communicating and if you need help she'll help you. Overall just do your work, proofread essays, and make sure to get everything done.

I took the class as the only available option. You have to read the book to complete assignments, but there is a lot of interesting information about Business Writing you can learn. She has great open resources to explore further. Around 10 discussions and 4 big projects to finish. Get a hold of her and let her know your concerns.

Took this class fully online and I really liked this professor. I found the class to be pretty easy. You just have to write 2 essays: one rhetorical analysis and one research one. Then there are journals and some other small assignments to do. She grades very quickly; both essays were graded within a few days if not hours.
