Good teacher. Great lecture notes
So CHE 105 is a really hard class. You have to study more than just the homework. But Dr. Peters is so amazing. She is super sweet and so willing to help. She really wants her class to do well. Always willing to take lots of time out of her own schedule to make time for you!
She is an amazing person and a commited professor. She is kind and helpful. Although I disapprove mandatory attendance, listening to her lectures is amusing and useful.
Dr. Peters was an absolute joy as a professor. She paced the class very well while still taking time to answer questions within a strict timeline. She seemed to really care about making sure we understood the material and explained concepts in a way that finally allowed me to understand chemistry! Which was exciting:)
Dr. Peters was a great chemistry teacher. The course itself is very hard and requires a lot of work, but she makes it much easier to understand! She is also super helpful during office hours!
She's a really good professor. She teaches the material well and explains it in many different ways if the class doesn't get it. She puts funny chemistry memes into her powerpoints and does cool demonstrations that go with the topic. Also, she posts her notes on canvas so you can print them and follow along in class. I would definitely recommend!
Dr. Peters was a terrific professor. Her lectures were clear and super helpful. She does a great job of explaining everything and takes time to answer questions in class, after, and during office hours. She's so sweet and tries her best to make the material as enjoyable and understandable as possible. For sure would recommend her!
Nice attitude and very chill but does not teach to where it will help you on the test. Barely any extra credit.
Get ready to teach yourself lol.
Dr. Peters was amazing! Though the class is known for being difficult, she taught well, and her lectures were never boring (they included so-bad-they-were-funny chemistry puns and memes). If you show up, participate respectfully, and go to office hours with questions you should be fine. Take her class if you can!
Ms. Peters is very good at presenting the material needed for tests. The course is pretty straight forward, so as long as you just attend class and pay attention, you'll be fine. Ms. Peters tries her best to make gen. Chem. as interesting and enjoyable as possible, and she achieves this goal in my opinion.
She really tried to get people excited about the topics and chemistry in general. Tried to include lots of examples to relate to real life. Absolutely loved her! Made the class bearable.
She's a very nice and empathetic professor. Her slides are organized and easy to follow, and she does practice problems in class. Her REEF questions are a piece of cake too. Don't feel nervous about going to her office hours either because she's really friendly in person. The exams aren't hard if you have enough practice, but homeworks are tough.
She is an amazing professor. She teaches everything very clearly.
Dr. Peters is a really good Professor who cares about her students. She really tries to make her class fun and engaging by making really corny jokes. She also tries to explain concepts different ways to try and help everyone understand. Would definitely recommend her.
For a chem professor, Peters is pretty good. She is goofy which gets annoying but for the most part is always willing to help. She does her best to keep things interesting. UKs chemistry department sucks in general but Dr. Peters manages it pretty well. The content and tests are difficult but she cant be blames for that.
Dr. Peters is a good professor; however, she flies through the content. Make sure to attend lecture and learn on your own outside of class.
Peters is a really great CHE105 lecturer. She is so passionate and explains things well. Her examples are extremely fast. You have to pay attention in class or youll miss a whole concept. Overall, shes great.
Dr. Peters is a good professor who cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Lecture is of course boring, but she adds lots of jokes and puns to try and bring it up. CHE 105 isn't that difficult if you pay attention and don't skip. Overall, I liked Peters and would recommend
She is so nice and makes chem interesting and fun. Love her and taking her for 107. Make sure to do well on all sapling HW and youll be fine
She was fine, very nice person. Dont be stressed, probably the best entry level chem teacher. If you genuinely go to class and pay attention, do your homework, no reason you shouldnt get at least a B. An A is achievable for most people.
I took Dr. Peters for 105 and 107. She's great at presenting the material! She tries her best to make lectures interesting with bad jokes. Even the gen chem is notoriously difficult, I had no issues making an A with Dr. Peters. The only downside is that she is not the most socially aware person in the world.
Dr. Peters is almost always willing to help in anyway she can. The class itself will become difficult the minute you stop paying attention though.
Dr. Peters class is very organized, the lectures are consise and easy to follow. She is very helpful and is eager to answer questions. She also tries to make the lectures interesting and easy to grasp with diagrams and pictures. The homework can be hard sometimes, but rewatching the lectures helps.
I love her sense of humor and her lectures! I would do anything to have her for CHE107! Her sense of humor is quite punny and she takes the time to really explain everything! She responds very quickly on Piazza (within a few hours, usually less than 30 mins) and she is very humble. She is also super easy to understand! Take her if you can!
I loved Dr. Peters. She taught chem class at UK and I loved her so much I wanted to get her again for the next chem class but she was not teaching it ugh. As long as you took solid notes from her lectures and paid attention this class should be an easy A. The tests are hard but it is chemistry so just study and look over notes.
Peters was very nice, and you can really tell she cares about what she's doing. She goes out of her way to try and make it fun to learn. I think the online format was a little bit tough for her since you can tell she's a people person, but I still enjoyed watching her videos and attending her lectures, she was very helpful.
Actually cares about trying to help her students understand the content. Even though the content is indeed difficult to comprehend, Phillips tries her best to help you understand. If the time is put in you can easily achieve an A, but as far as professors go she is the best to have for CHE105.
If you are taking this class freshman year, it is a great introduction to college. It is going to be very challenging, and you are going to have to do a lot of work on your own, however, Erin Peters does a great job at helping with that. She is very kind and is a very good lecturer.
While I've only had her as a CHE105 professor, from what I've heard, she's easily the best. Her lectures are engaging, she makes learning chemistry fun, and I've learned a lot in just this one semester. If you have the opportunity to take her class, ABSOLUTELY do it.
She's such a passionate and great teacher, and she makes really cheesy jokes. Overall, I love her class (CHE105), but make sure you study, show up to class for iClicker questions, and memorize equations.
Although this class is very difficult, it is possible to get an A. She is the best professor for gen chem and she truly wants us to do well. Everything you need is given to you you just have to work hard. She is very sweet and makes jokes in her lectures to try and keep us engaged. Overall, show up prepared to take in a lot of info and try ur best
Dr. Peters is really good for CHE 105 because most of the professors, I heard, were awful. She lectures really well and explains things really well. Overall, this class is REALLY hard like you will hate chemistry by the end of the semester no matter how much you like it. You will threaten to jump off POT many times because of this class but oh well
Out of all the options she seems to have her stuff together the most. Each unit (4 total) has about 3-4 100+ PowerPoints of all the notes and she goes over them in class. Other teachers give video notes and do example problems in class, so its up to you, but she's super good about controlling the class and getting through the material pretty fast
Dr. Peters is a great professor! She is so caring and kind and her lectures are hilarious. The analytical chem lab is not easy. Get ready to be precise in the lab as accuracy and precision are a large portion of the grade. This class is very math-heavy but if you attend the lecture and read the book and slides you'll be good to go on exams!
The professor really makes or breaks CHE105, and Dr. Peters is stellar. She always made sure to add corny "dad jokes" throughout our slides to renew interest in the subject. The subject matter is tough, but she makes it bearable. Her words are clear and easy to understand, but don't sit in the back, or else you won't hear her in the big room.
Erin Peters is a great professor. She lectures well and includes some jokes to try and lighten the mood. She answers questions thoroughly and I would def recommend her as your first choice.
Dr. Peters does a great job with her lectures. I love her powerpoints, and she is one the best to teach 105. If you have the option, take her! Her reviews before exams always helped a lot too. I never had to read the book because of her powerpoints.
Amazing professor! Chemistry is a difficult subject but she does a great job of clarifying it.
If it's possible, take CHE107 with Dr. Woodrum. Dr. Peters is not terrible, but she quickly goes over the most difficult concepts. She is a genius; she is sometimes too smart to read the room. She is usually never helpful if you email her personally for help or for accommodations
Mrs. Peters started the semester by stating that it would not be memorization-heavy. This was extremely untrue as most of the content on the exams is all based on what you can remember. The exams are 73% of your final grade, and there's very little you can do to boost your grade. She makes the class too difficult especially for a gen ed class.
I love Dr. Peters! She is an incredible person and this is my second time taking the course and I am looking to pass under her class. The class structure is just like any other class- she does give more extra resources though. Her lectures are the most important though and she does a great job at explaining! definitely recommend.
If you can choose which professor to take general chemistry from Peters is your best option. She is the only professor who does not utilize the flipped classroom model and genuinely cares about her students understanding the content instead of weeding them out or requiring extra assignments. Her lectures are engaging and reflect the exam content.
I had Dr. Peters for 105 and 107. Her lectures are structured really well and her notes help with the homework and exams a lot. She genuinely wants to make chemistry enjoyable for her students by including memes in her slides and doing in-class experiments. If you like traditional lectures instead of Playposit lectures, I highly recommend.
Ok so I went a whole semester hating her because I didnt realize she doesnt make the exams. The exams for CHEM105 are busted perversions of what you learn in class and on homework. Besides that shes a pretty good teacher. I didnt like her iClickers because I was always tired of lectures but I still got an A+
love Dr. Peters! Your best option for CHE105
Dr. Peters class is fully taught during lectures using very well organized PowerPoints that are given to take notes on. She is very good at teacher, however she does go a little fast sometimes. I would say she is the best teacher for chem 105. You will have to work hard and study a lot but if you do that it will be well worth it.
Good lecturer, better than other CHE 105 from what I have heard. She makes lots of meme jokes, but she makes content easy to understand sometimes, but others she will rush though content. Hit or miss really.
Dr. Peters is a very intelligent individual, but her teaching is awful. She rushes through her slides, which are not very clear to begin with. She dismisses most questions or makes you seem like an idiot for having asked them. The exam grades are most of your grade and they are nearly impossible with the material given to you by Peters.
CHE105 is a difficult class for most people but Dr. Peters does a great job at helping her students understand the content as long as they make an attempt to ask questions.
I liked Dr. Peters when I had her for CHE105: she was strict, taught rly well, had a lot of passion, and motivated me to attend with iClicker. However, my CHE107 class was unbearably behind compared to the other sections and got screwed on the common hour exams bc of it (ntm she talked with students for the first 5 of class). CHE105 yes, CHE107 no.
The chemistry department as a whole is very unforgiving and as much as they claim otherwise, they do not care about the students. Dr. Peters is an ok professor, but is not helpful when asking questions in class. To get an A in this course go to Gen Chem learning center, make a study group, watch youtube videos, or go to The Study (hit or miss).
WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. She treats you differently if you are not naturally good at chemistry!! Your grade is dependent on the tests even though you do SO much work outside of class. CHE 105 is too crammed and makes it impossible to actually understand the concepts with how fast and how much content they skip. Recommend 109&110. I am a all A's student
I really enjoyed analytical and Dr. Peters was a good professor to have for it. The exams can be difficult, but if you review the slides and the suggested book problems you can do well. She was easy to access outside class and wanted us to do well. I also liked how she linked lectures to real-world applications. Overall, I would recommend her.
I loved Dr. Peters. I like the lecture style, and I think that she explains things very clearly. She is funny and very nice. My only complaint is that I felt like there were simple sections that she spent an excessive amount of time on, while there were complicated ones that she breezed over. Overall, my experience was positive.
Dr. Peters is probably your best option for CHE 105. The homework assignments are very helpful to learn content with, and she doesn't assign more than necessary. Her slides are also extremely easy to follow. She goes over some of the topics way too quickly, but looking over her slides or rewatching the lectures make studying a lot easier.
Dr. Peters was an awesome professor! Her lectures were all really good and left me with a very good understanding of the material. She is also really good at answering student questions and super sweet! The exams can be difficult, but she makes sure you know what is on it so you can study well. I loved Dr. Peters and would definitely recommend her!
She knows very well the content, but don't know how to pass it to the students.
Very knowledgeable and caring professor! She truly wants her students to do well no matter their background in chemistry. You have to go to every lecture and pay close attention to the content being presented, however, she is an amazing lecturer and gives many in-note examples. She also dressed up for Halloween which I loved!
She is the worst chem professor at UK. She doesn't explain things well and she goes through the lecture like she has somewhere to be. Literally take anyone else other than her.
Peters is smart but has no idea how to teach the chemistry content to her students. She taps through slides and skims over math problems to show her memes that she deems funny as quickly as possible. She wastes time with students and is then mad when we fall behind all the other classes. Asking questions seems to make her angry in class.
Dr. Peters gives very boring lectures that are also very hard to follow. She goes through material very fast with little examples that are hard to understand. When the class does not understand something she is very rude about helping and acts like the student is dumb for not understanding her very confusing speaking. Def take another professor.
Dr. Peters is the best professor I have had at UK. Overall the chemistry dept is bad but she is the exception. I have had her for 105 and 107 and done very well in the class because her lectures have been helpful. She is also an amazing person.
Dr Peters is an amazing professor. The content can be difficult but she takes the time to do lots of examples and does a great job of making the topics clear and understandable. She keeps lectures entertaining with cheesy memes and real-life examples. She is a caring professor that will really help you in this class as long as you put in effort.
I really enjoyed Dr. peters class. She made the class interesting and would go over plenty of examples in class. Che 107 is just a difficult class, but as long as you put in effort then she will help you a ton. She would also email back answers to questions really quickly. Dr. Peters is an incredibly caring professor and one of my favorites.
I was lucky to get Peters for both 105&107. B/c of her I enjoyed CHE. If you are struggling, go to office hours; she's happy to help anyway she can. Yes, her lectures can be fast paced but she has 50 min to relay information & her lectures are recorded for later use. She doesn't use PlayPosits and she only teaches exam content, unlike other profs.
If you do the homework, reviews and seek help when you are struggling an A is achievable. This class is by no means easy, especially if you're not familiar with CHE, but honestly if you put forth the effort you will be fine and Peters will help you when you're struggling, as she wants to see you succeed. No playposits means more time to study.
Shes an amazing professor and genuinely wants you to learn and succeed. She gives you motivational quotes before exams and tells you not to worry and just show what you know. The class itself is absolutely awful but as a professor, she is amazing.
This class is honestly just difficult. Dr. Peters does her best with the time she's given to teach us all the content. She is a very intelligent woman, which sometimes causes her to speed through confusing concepts. All in all, she really just wants her students to succeed, pass, and learn. She is very helpful when it comes to asking questions!
Dr.Peters was phenomenal. She uses an in person lecture style, as opposed to the flipped classroom style that other chem107 professors use. Dr.Peters was very knowledgeable about the subject and was able to simplify the content and explain it in simple terms. chem107 is a very difficult class, and there is a lot of math so be prepared tho
Dr. Peters is knowledgable about chemistry, but does not know how to teach it. She wastes time with memes. Then, she rushes over important topics. When a student has a question, she either answers in a way that isn't helpful or makes you feel bad for not knowing the answer. She would stop the 300-person lecture just to call out people talking.
I liked Dr. Peter's for the most part... she did speed through a lot of tough concepts and could be condescending when answering questions. But she taught everything that needed to be taught and there wasn't a ton of homework.
Dr. Peters is one of best general chemistry professors, if not the best. Dr. Peters teaches during lectures. She does NOT use pre-lecture videos like the flipped-classroom format. This was so much more beneficial to me rather than watching boring videos. She does go pretty fast sometimes, that is the only downfall. Be prepared to study for success!
Dr. Peters is harsh in class and has the tendency to answer sarcastically to questions. I have personally been made to feel stupid several times in her class, which does not reflect who she is. She is very caring and kind if you talk with her personally, but her lectures are a whirlwind: fast-paced and confusing.
BEST CHEMISTRY PROFFESOR IN UK
Ms. Peters is a good teacher as far as the chemistry department goes. Nothing will prepare you for the exams you will take for chemistry but she does care about her students, her lectures aren't amazing but they will give you a decent overview of what the science is behind the numerous math problems you will see.
Dr. Peters only provides lectures with no videos. Other professors provide videos which I found more helpful. She rushed difficult topics a lot. She would be behind in content before an exam. She would be rude when answering students in class and would stop the lecture for talking. She is helpful outside of class, but I would take someone else.
Dr. Peters is a nice lady and overall good professor. Exams can be very difficult and often required days to study. Additionally, Dr. Peters doesn't record her lectures. My only real complaint about the course is the lab. When grading lab reports, one TA graded way too harshly and the other like he wanted everyone to get an A. No consistency.
I loved Dr. Peters. She actually taught in class and did not send hour long videos for you to watch outside of class hours and she would answer tough questions you had. I think sitting up front in this class is very beneficial and she takes a positive relationship with those up front imo. She did not like talking and would stop lecturing for it.
Dr. Peters is the only professor who still lectures. All the others use online videos for the lectures. Her lectures are great, and because of the Playposits, she is the only one worth taking.
While CHE 105 is a very challenging class, I think Dr. Peters is a great professor. She has good lectures but sometimes rushed content right be for an exam. She is a very nice lady who really does care for her students. I think she is one of the most caring faculty in the chemistry department. I would take her again for chemistry if it's an option.
Dr. Peters was really an okay professor... Exams are hard but do practice problems and you'll be okay. Only complaint is the lab and more so the TA's. They had as much an idea what was going on as we did. Kevin was cool but Megan... lighten up, m'kay?
the class wasn't easy, but it was fair. lectures would be boring to anyone outside of chem, so don't take if it's not your major. show up, take notes, you'll be fine
Attend the lectures as participation questions and practice problems done in class mimic the exam questions. Not required, but I'd recommend reading the textbook before content is covered in class to reinforce topics. Dr. Peters holds plenty of office hours and exam review sessions to help students excel. Put in the effort, and you'll be fine!
Dr. Peters thoroughly explains everything covered during lectures. Everything on the exams were covered in class. She provides students with copies of her PowerPoints so students can write on them with iPads. The class can be demanding at times through homework assignments and memorizing different topics, but that is the same with other professors.
Dr. Peters was a great professor and explained everything clearly, if a bit fast. Sometimes would cram content in right before exams, but was always available if you needed help. Overall if you pay attention in lecture and take notes, you'll do fine
Peters is a cool person and deeply understands chemistry. That being said she has the tendency to be fast during lectures which can lead you to fall behind but all the lectures are online. I would take again over some of the other professors I've heard about.
Dr. Peters is a great professor and the lectures are well taught Attendance is mandatory, but if you stay above a 75% attendance score on iClicker, she will round up your grade to a 100 for attendance. She uses three screens at once to display different content, which is super helpful. There's a lot to know tho, but just pay attention in class.
Dr. Peters is a great lecturer. She does move fast, but that is the nature of Chem 105. She works through problems in class and is available to answer questions in office hours. Make sure you can stand some corny chemistry jokes before you take her.
Dr. Peters is super sweet and a great professor if you learn best with lecture-based classes! If flipped classrooms work better for your learning (watching lectures at home and doing problems in class), a different professor might be a better option. That being said, she is so understanding and helpful if you ever have questions!
There is a lot of content and lectures could feel very long, she does a good job of keeping people engaged. I appreciate that she recorded lectures to go back and watch. I suggest sitting in the front row and annotating the slides as she goes over them. Also for students taking gen chem for the first time, take advantage of the practice exams.
I do not recommend taking Peters. The resources that were provided were fine but she would drop so much material on us the day before an exam and just expected us to know it!
Does not engage with material and just reads from slides and moves on. Very tough class to grasp if you have no chemistry background. Miss class won't pass. Clicker questions are graded.
Great professor
if you would like to be made feel stupid take this class. this class is very lecture heavy but will cram in information that is very important for exam. don't ask cough, laugh or do anything if the sort you will be called out for doing so. do not recommend this class in the slightest. Extremely hard because of the way she teaches.
She explains things incredibly fast and is sometimes against answering questions. If you make too loud of a noise or ask a stupid question she is not afraid to call you out on it, but everyone she does this too deserves it. I had to start reading the lecture slides beforehand to be able to keep up. Overall she explains things fairly well.
Dr. Peters cares a lot about her students. She crams in the last few concepts the week of the exam, but that is because she takes her time to explain concepts learned in class prior (the last concepts are not heavily on the exams anyway). No one asks questions, but she is open to them during lecture. She also makes many puns and is very kind.
Decent professor. She does explain the concepts pretty well. She sometimes starts brand new topics in the last 2 minutes of class. Also, don't be having a full on conversation if you sit close to the front of the hall, cause you will be called out! Finally, make sure you attend every lecture, not just for the iclicker, but also to prepare for exams
I wouldn't recommend Dr. Peters if you are taking chem 105. Says she's going to going to be teaching chemistry like you've never heard of it before but that's not true. All she really does is read from the slides and quickly work out problems. It's hard to really grasp the concepts and know what you need to learn for the exam with how she teaches.
overall call was decent, if you get an A on the 3 exams you do not take the final exam, its is an average of all 3. Lecture hardly covered any math on the exams, all written exams. Lab is fun, just make sure to write procedure or you loose points. Davis could lighten up on grading, he is specific. Exams are from lecture, quiz, and book. STUDY!!!!
Dr. Peters is a decent professor. She goes over content fairly quickly. Sometimes when someone asks questions though she can come off as condescending. She includes LOTS of funny dad jokes. You need to study a lot outside of lectures to do well in this course. I recommend Dr. Woodrum.
I adored Dr. Peters. I am genuinely considering changing my Bio major to a Chem major because of her (despite me undergoing the wrath of April French's Chem lab concurrently). Dr. Peters really cares about her students, and truly wants you to succeed. she does NOT use a flipped classroom style which worked very well for me. Highly recommend!!
The in class Iclicker is very important for your grade. She is hard ot focus on in class and moves really fast but provides good online resources.
I loved Dr. Peters as every class was fun and engaging with a few demos, funny chemistry jokes, and some laughable iClicker questions. She made chemistry truly fun for those taking it for the first time or for those who took a dual credit/ AP course in High School. If you ever need help with the work, I highly suggest her office hours or the GCLC.
Honestly Peter's was a pretty good professor, but sometimes she would just read off of the slides. She got a little snippy with people talking during lecture so dont make that mistake. Her handwriting is awful and hard to read so just make sure youre listening to what she's writing. CHE 105 is just overall a tough class so make sure you study!
Dr. Peters is great at explaining topics and goes over a lot of math practice problems in class. As long as you pay attention in class you will understand the content pretty well. CHE 105 is just a hard class so you have to study a lot on top of lecture to do well on the exams though. You also get one exam replacement on the final.
Peters is a knowledgeable professor, though lectures can move quickly. Staying engaged and using resources like unstuck study alongside the free textbook can really help. Overall a challenging but rewarding class.
I really liked her lecture, and her jokes are funny. The iClicker questions shouldn't be that hard as they are usually after she explains the specific topic. Exams aren't so bad, but I do recommend studying after class and attending the review sessions held before the exams.
Dr. Peters gives solid lectures, though they can be a bit dry. She keeps things light with corny memes, which add a fun touch—unless you're a snob. iClicker is required for participation points and can't be done outside class. If you're deciding between professors, she's a strong choice and makes the material manageable!
Peters is rude. Lectures are boring and she rambles on and on. The exams are fine but the past exams don't help
Peters isn't an amazing professor nor is she a bad professor. I find her lectures to be boring but she doesn't do the flipped classroom which is nice. She explains things well but fast.
Dr. Peters is a great professor! The Gen Chem department sets the course structure, but she keeps lectures light with humor and a positive attitude. She's very friendly and encouraging. Go to office hours—they're super helpful!
Very knowledgable and passionate instructor. Can sometimes be condescending when you ask questions, but other than that is willing to explain and work out problems with you.
solid professor, 105 is just a really hard class to take as a freshman in your first semester. she always worked out math problems in class and tried to keep most of her lectures light-hearted. if you take 105 don't mess up the first exam because you'll be in way over your head trying to recover
Super helpful and passionate teachers. Always wants you to make sure you understand the content and is very accessible for help outside of class.
I thought she was good. Her lectures were cohesive and she explained them well. She sometimes did experiments in lecture, which helped keep us engaged. She does use iclicker to make sure people show up. Overall, good lectures, and good professor.
CHE 105 is typically a difficult course for students, especially if you don't have any background knowledge. However, she teaches this course better than any of the other gen chem professors at UK. She cares about her students and is good at answering questions. You should be more than fine on exams if you can do the homework questions on your own.
CHE 226 is difficult if you didn't perform well in CHE 107 in my opinion. It basically covers similar content, but elevated. She does her best to explain the content, but I feel like she doesn't have enough time to teach it within 50 minutes; her lectures felt very rushed. The lab experiments are fun, but difficult and worth a lot of your grade.
Peters is best option for Chem @ UK atm. Especially if you, like me, despise flipped classroom bs. She cares + wants you to succeed. Do well early as it gets exponentially harder later. Homework is plentiful / time consuming. Exams are standardized across chem dept so doesn't matter who u have exam difficulty wise, but more for lecture + support.
